Resumen El objetivo fue contrastar la Teoría de la Conducta Planeada (TCP) y los modelos de contagio social de la trasgresión entre diferentes normas. Se midieron los componentes de la TCP hacia la norma de no mentir, y la trasgresión percibida de otras normas sociales en el vecindario (e. g., tirar basura en la calle) en 385 participantes. Regresiones lineales y modelos de trayectorias muestran un funcionamiento adecuado de la TCP, aunque con baja capacidad predictiva de la conducta de mentir. La trasgresión de diferentes normas en el vecindario incrementó la predicción de la trasgresión a la norma de no mentir, apoyando la hipótesis del contagio entre diferentes normas. Se discuten la vigencia de la TCP, la necesidad de una extensión experimental y las implicaciones sociales del contagio de la trasgresión de normas.

Abstract The objective of this research was to contrast Planned Behavior Theory (PBT) and the models of social contagion of transgression between different norms. The components of the TCP were measured towards the norm of not lying, and the perceived transgression of other social norms in the neighborhood (e.g., littering) in a sample of 385 participants. Linear regressions and trajectory models show an adequate functioning of the TCP, although with low predictive capacity of the lying behavior. The transgression of different norms in the neighborhood increased the prediction of the transgression of the norm of not lying, supporting the hypothesis of contagion between different norms. The discussion focuses on the validity of the TCP, the need for an experimental extension, and the social implications of the contagion of the transgression of norms.

ABSTRACT The results of an intervention study performanced at the Centro Nacional de Biopreparados, a company of BioCubaFarma, are presented. The research was promoted by the Finlay Vaccine Institute, with the aim of evaluating the direct and indirect effects of vaccination against SARS-CoV-2, with a heterologous 2P + 1 scheme: two doses of SOBERANA®02 plus one dose of SOBERANA®Plus with 28 days between them; in population cohorts at risk of infection, disease and spread of the epidemic. A quantity of 1,007 subjects were evaluated and 924 were initially included. Of these, 97.62% received the complete vaccination schedule. Subsequently, 21 convalescents of COVID-19 with at least two months of clinical discharge were included, who received a single dose of SOBERANA®Plus. The safety of the vaccine was evaluated by identifying and classifying adverse events by active and passive pharmacovigilance. A total of 482 adverse events were recorded, mostly due to passive pharmacovigilance, mild intensity and A1 causality (related). No related serious adverse events occurred. IgG anti SARS-CoV-2 was quantified in 100 individuals, and 68% had a response greater than or equal to 50 IU/mL, these subjects being nine years younger than those with a lower response. Up to three months after the intervention, 64 vaccinated people were diagnosed with COVID-19 and none of them were seriously ill or died. A very favorable safety profile of SOBERANA® and indications of effectiveness in preventing severe forms and mortality from COVID-19 were evidenced.

RESUMEN Se presentan los resultados del estudio de intervención realizado en el Centro Nacional de Biopreparados, empresa de BioCubaFarma. La investigación fue promovida por el Instituto Finlay de Vacunas, con el objetivo de evaluar los efectos directos e indirectos de la vacunación anti SARS-CoV-2 con un esquema heterólogo 2P+1: dos dosis de SOBERANA®02 más una dosis de SOBERANA®Plus con 28 días entre ellas, en cohortes poblacionales de riesgo de infección, enfermedad y dispersión de la epidemia. Fueron evaluados 1.007 sujetos, incluyéndose inicialmente 924. De ellos, el 97,62% recibió el esquema completo de vacunación. Posteriormente se incluyeron 21 convalecientes de COVID-19 con al menos dos meses del alta clínica, que recibieron una única dosis de SOBERANA®Plus. La seguridad de las vacunas se evalúo mediante la identificación y clasificación de los eventos adversos por farmacovigilancia activa y pasiva. Se registraron un total de 482 eventos adversos, en su mayoría por farmacovigilancia pasiva, de intensidad leve y de causalidad A1 (relacionados). No ocurrieron eventos adversos graves relacionados. Se realizó cuantificación de IgG anti SARS-CoV-2 a 100 individuos y el 68% tuvo una respuesta mayor o igual de 50 UA/mL, siendo estos sujetos nueve años menores que los de respuesta menor. Hasta los tres meses de concluida la intervención, 64 vacunados fueron diagnosticados con COVID-19 y ninguno de ellos estuvo grave o falleció. Se evidenció un perfil de seguridad muy favorable de SOBERANA® e indicios de efectividad en la prevención de formas graves y mortalidad por COVID-19.

ABSTRACT Introduction: Mobile learning (m-learning) consists in the inclusion of mobile devices into learning activities. In the teaching of medical parasitology and microbiology, such devices offer a high power of illustration and contribute to medical students’ learning of the subject; in addition, they serve as support to other profiles such as health technology. Objective: To present the update, by means of an android application, of the Microbiology and Parasitology course at the University of Medical Sciences of Camagüey. Methods: An optimized application for android 4.4 or higher was created with the Java programming language. This research was carried out at Carlos J. Finlay University of Medical Sciences and applied to medical students in the 2018-2019 and 2019-2020 academic years. The study universe was made up of 1446 students from the academic years from 2016 to 2020. A survey validated by experts was carried out, in the period between November and December 2020, with a probabilistic sample of 88 students from the University of Medical Sciences of Camagüey. Kendall's coefficient of general concordance (W) was calculated for the answers to the questions. Results: Mikros was a teaching support tool, the result of a collaborative project between the Center of Immunology and Biological Products at the University of Medical Sciences and the School of Computer Engineering at Ignacio Agramonte University, in Camagüey, which allowed to present the professor in a teaching modality much in tune with the current times. Conclusions: The Mikros application included basic concepts and a high update level. It also contributed to raising the student’s academic index and satisfaction with learning. It turned out to be a practical consultation tool for students of higher academic years of the major who are rotating through the clinical area, as well as a useful tool for distance learning in COVID-19 times.

RESUMEN Introducción: El aprendizaje móvil (m-learning) es la inclusión de dispositivos móviles en las actividades de aprendizaje. En la enseñanza de Microbiología y Parasitología médica estos ofrecen un alto poder de ilustración y contribuyen al aprendizaje de la asignatura de los estudiantes de la carrera de medicina; además, sirven de apoyo a otros perfiles como Tecnología de la Salud. Objetivo: Exponer la actualización del curso de Microbiología y Parasitología en la Universidad de Ciencias Médicas de Camagüey mediante una aplicación androide. Métodos: Se realizó una aplicación optimizada para androide 4.4 o superior con el lenguaje de programación Java. Esta investigación se desarrolló en la Universidad de Ciencias Médicas “Carlos J. Finlay” y se aplicó a estudiantes de la carrera de medicina en los cursos 2018-2019 y 2019-2020. El universo del estudio fueron 1446 estudiantes de los cursos de 2016-2020. Se realizó una encuesta validada por expertos a una muestra probabilística de 88 estudiantes de la Universidad de Ciencias Médicas de Camagüey, en el período comprendido entre noviembre y diciembre de 2020. Se calculó el coeficiente concordancia general W de Kendall en cuanto a las respuestas a las preguntas. Resultados: Mikros fue una herramienta de apoyo a la docencia, fruto de un proyecto de colaboración entre el Centro de Inmunología y Productos Biológicos de la Universidad de Ciencias Médicas y la Facultad de Ingeniería Informática de la Universidad “Ignacio Agramonte”, de Camagüey, que permitió introducir al profesor en una modalidad de enseñanza muy a tono con estos tiempos. Conclusiones: La aplicación Mikros incluyó conceptos básicos y un alto nivel de actualización. También contribuyó a elevar el índice académico y a una mayor satisfacción del alumno en el aprendizaje, y resultó una herramienta de consulta práctica para estudiantes de años posteriores de la carrera en rotación por el área clínica y útil para el aprendizaje a distancia en tiempos de COVID-19.

RESUMEN El propósito de este proyecto fue evaluar los efectos curativos de los hidrogeles de quitosano con extractos de Aloe vera (CS + AV) y Calendula officinalis (CS + CO) en heridas en ratas Wistar diabéticas y no diabéticas. Se utilizaron un total de 24 ratas; los animales fueron divididos aleatoriamente en tres grupos diabéticos y tres no diabéticos (un grupo control y dos tratados) y se monitorearon durante 13 días. Se recuperó una biopsia del sitio de la herida para evaluar el contenido de colágeno y n-acetilglucosamina. El área de la herida se redujo desde el día 1 en ambos grupos no diabéticos tratados. Se observó un efecto similar en el grupo diabético tratado con CS + AV, mientras que el grupo diabético tratado con CS + CO mostró una reducción del área de la herida en comparación al control diabético hasta el día 11 después de la creación de la herida. El contenido de colágeno y n-acetilglucosamina fue mayor en todos los grupos tratados. Se necesitan más estudios para aclarar los mecanismos subyacentes a través de los cuales estos tratamientos promueven la cicatrización de heridas. Estos resultados sugieren que los hidrogeles preparados son materiales con potencial para usarse como apósitos para heridas.

ABSTRACT This project's purpose was to evaluate the healing effects of chitosan (CS) hydrogels loaded with extracts from Aloe vera (CS+AV) and Calendula officinalis (CS+CO) on wounds of diabetic and non-diabetic Wistar rats. A total of 24 rats were used; animals were randomly divided into three diabetic and three non-diabetic groups (one control and two treated groups) and monitored for 13 days. A biopsy on the wound site was recovered to assess the collagen and n-acetyl glucosamine content. The wound area ratio was reduced since day 1 on both non-diabetic treated groups. A similar effect was observed on the diabetic group treated with CS+AV, while the diabetic group treated with CS+CO showed a reduction in wound area compared to the diabetic control until day 11 after being wounded. Collagen and n-acetyl glucosamine content were higher in every treated group. Further studies are needed to clarify the underlying mechanisms through which they promote wound healing. These results suggest that the hydrogels prepared are potential material to be used as wound dressings.

Abstract: The objective of this article is to study the viability of the European Union's DigCompEdu model, which suggests that teachers' digital competence depends on professional commitment, pedagogical competencies, and the ability to develop students' digital competence. The method of analysis was based on the modeling of structural equations with a PLS (partial least squares) approach. A questionnaire was completed by 2,262 teachers from nine public universities in Andalusia, Spain. The results show the effectiveness of the European model, the possibilities offered by the methodology of structural equations, and the validation of an instrument to analyze teachers' digital competence in the university context. In this area of study, the proposed model can serve to define itineraries of teacher training, establish selection criteria, and analyze the professional development needs of university professors.

Resumen: El objetivo de este artículo es estudiar la viabilidad del modelo DigCompEdu de la Unión Europea, que sugiere que la competencia digital docente depende del compromiso profesional, competencias pedagógicas y capacidad para desarrollar la competencia digital del alumnado. El método de análisis se llevó a cabo a través del modelado de ecuaciones estructurales con enfoque PLS (mínimos cuadrados parciales). El instrumento empleado fue un cuestionario cumplimentado por 2,262 docentes de 9 universidades públicas andaluzas. Los resultados demuestran la eficacia del modelo europeo, las posibilidades que ofrece la metodología de las ecuaciones estructurales y la validación de un instrumento de análisis de la competencia digital docente en el contexto universitario. En esta línea, el modelo planteado puede servir para definir itinerarios de formación docente, establecer criterios de selección, así como analizar las necesidades de desarrollo profesional docente universitario.

RESUMO A intensa atividade industrial na região Amazônica gera grande quantidade de resíduos, entre eles, os resíduos lignocelulósicos não madeireiros. O presente estudo avaliou a utilização do tegumento de murumuru (Astrocaryum murumuru Mart.) na produção de um compósito de madeira plástica, em que se utilizou a proporção 70/30 de polipropileno e tegumento de murumuru e 2% de anidrido maleico. Os compósitos de madeira plástica foram moldados por compressão em uma prensa termo hidráulica. O tegumento de murumuru foi caracterizado quanto ao seu teor de lignina e celulose e quanto a sua morfologia através de Microscopia Eletrônica de Varredura (MEV). Os compósitos foram avaliados quanto a sua morfologia por meio do MEV e quanto as suas propriedades mecânicas por meio do ensaio de resistência a flexão, onde as placas de PP puro apresentaram desempenho mecânico 21,7% superior ao compósito com 30% de resíduo, para valores de significância (P < 0,05) não houve diferença estática entre as placas. Os padrões de espectrometria de infravermelho indicaram que a composição da carga vegetal se caracteriza de constituintes como lignina, celulose e hemicelulose. Os resultados obtidos indicaram bom desempenho da madeira plástica, desta forma, o objetivo deste trabalho foi alcançado.

ABSTRACT The intense industrial activity in the Amazon region generates a large amount of waste, including non-wood lignocellulosic waste. The present study evaluated the use of murumuru tegument (Astrocaryum murumuru Mart.) in the production of a plastic wood composite, in which a 70/30 proportion of polypropylene and murumuru tegument and 2% maleic anhydride were used. The wood-plastic composites were compression molded in a thermo-hydraulic press. The murumuru tegument was characterized as to its lignin and cellulose content and as to its morphology through Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM). The composites were evaluated for their morphology through SEM and for their mechanical properties through the flexural strength test, where the pure PP plates showed a mechanical performance 21.7% higher than the composite with 30% residue, for Significance values (P < 0.05) there was no static difference between the plates. The infrared spectrometry patterns indicated that the composition of the vegetal filler is characterized by constituents such as lignin, cellulose and hemicellulose. The results obtained indicated good performance of plastic wood, thus, the objective of this work was achieved.

Resumen Nivel de satisfacción de los familiares de pacientes ingresados en la Unidad de Cuidados Intensivos del Complejo Hospitalario Universitario de Canarias con un nuevo protocolo de visitas e información. Método. Del total de pacientes dados de alta de la UCI en los años 2019, 2020 y acumulado a mayo del 2021, se eligió una muestra de forma aleatoria en los pacientes sin patología Covid-19. Los pacientes con patología Covid-19 se seleccionaron en su totalidad. Se contactó con familiares para realizar encuesta de satisfacción. Conclusiones. La implementación del nuevo protocolo ha conseguido un mayor nivel de satisfacción de los Usuarios.

Abstract Level of satisfaction of relatives of patients admitted to the Intensive Care Unit of the Complejo Hospitalario Universitario de Canarias with a new protocol for visits and information. Method. From the total number of patients discharged from the ICU in the years 2019, 2020 and accumulated to May 2021, a sample was randomly selected from patients without Covid-19 pathology. Patients with Covid-19 pathology were selected in their entirety. Family members were contacted to conduct a satisfaction survey. Conclusions. The implementation of the new protocol has achieved a higher level of user satisfaction.

ABSTRACT Introduction: COVID-19 confinement has created a challenge in raising schoolers. Objective: Examine the performance of educational actions of the family with the school during the confinement by COVID-19. Methods: Descriptive research, non-probabilistic sampling, 112 families who complied with social isolation in Ramón López Peña community, San Cristobal, Artemisa province in 2020. Instrument used: "Scale of educational actions of the family with school children during confinement by COVID-19", built and validated by researchers with Cronbach´s alpha = 0.970. Results: Educational actions as meeting food and sleep schedules (70.6%), distributing roles in child care (70.6%), emotional support (70.6%), supporting with teleclasses (70.6%) were always carried out by families with favorable performance. Actions like helping to recover from negative emotions (72.7%), keeping the schooler away from household concerns and tensions (72.7%), explaining whether they don't understand the contents or looking for help (72.7%) were almost never made by families with unfavorable performance. Conclusions: Most families had a favorable performance in educational actions. The "Child Care" dimension was the best performed one. Teaching the schoolchildren the hygienic protective measures, provide information to schoolchildren on how to protect themselves, teaching and practicing ways to greet and stay connected with loved ones and friends were the most performed educational actions by both family groups. The complexity of home learning and the child's affective management require special attention.

RESUMEN Introducción: El confinamiento por la COVID-19 ha generado un desafío en la crianza de los escolares. Objetivo: Examinar el desempeño de acciones educativas de la familia con el escolar durante el confinamiento por la COVID-19. Métodos: Investigación descriptiva, muestreo no probabilístico,112 familias. que cumplían aislamiento social en la comunidad Ramón López Peña, San Cristóbal, Artemisa en 2020. Instrumento utilizado: “Escala de acciones educativas de la familia con el escolar durante el confinamiento por la COVID-19”, construida y validada por los investigadores con alfa de Cronbach= 0,970). Resultados: Las acciones educativas: cumplir los horarios de alimentación y sueño (70,6 %), distribuir los roles en el cuidado del menor (70,6 %), apoyo emocional (70,6 %), apoyar con las teleclases (70,6 %), siempre se realizaron por las familias con desempeño favorable. Las acciones: ayudar a recuperarse de una emoción negativa (72,7 %), alejar al escolar de las preocupaciones y tensiones del hogar (72,7 %), explicar si no entiende los contenidos o buscar ayuda (72,7 %), casi nunca fueron realizadas por las familias con desempeño desfavorable. Conclusiones: La mayoría de las familias presentaron desempeño favorable de acciones educativas. La dimensión “Cuidados del menor” fue la mejor expresada. Enseñar al escolar las medidas higiénicas de protección; brindar información a los escolares sobre cómo protegerse; enseñar y practicar formas de saludar y de mantenerse conectados con seres queridos y amigos, fueron las acciones educativas más realizadas por ambos grupos de familia. La complejidad del aprendizaje en casa y el manejo afectivo del niño requieren especial atención.

ABSTRACT Objective: Describe visual impairment among diabetics aged 50 years and over, and the coverage of ophthalmological care in Cuba in the year 2016. Methods: A descriptive cross-sectional epidemiological study was conducted based on the Rapid Assessment of Avoidable Blindness survey developed in Cuba in the year 2016, which included diabetic retinopathy with validation by the World Health Organization. The data obtained from the questionnaires were transferred to a database of visually impaired known and unknown diabetics. Results: Prevalence of any sort of visual impairment among diabetics is 25.4% (21.8-28.9). Risk of developing moderate visual impairment, severe visual impairment or blindness is 19.4% (16.5-22.3), 2.8% (1.0-4.6) and 3.2% (1.5-4.8), respectively. Cataract is the leading cause of impairment. Risk of visual impairment among diabetics is similar in the two sexes and increases with age. Treatment coverage is low. Conclusions: In Cuba, about one fourth of the diabetics are at some risk of visual impairment. Diabetics are at a higher risk of moderate visual impairment. However, the risk of severe visual impairment and blindness is the same as for the population aged 50 years and over. Cataract and diabetic retinopathy are the most common causes of visual impairment among diabetics. Difficulties were found in ophthalmological care, including examination and treatment coverage for cataract and laser therapy for diabetic retinopathy.

RESUMEN Objetivo: Describir la discapacidad visual del diabético de 50 años y más de edad y la cobertura de la atención oftalmológica en Cuba durante el año 2016. Métodos: Se realizó una investigación epidemiológica, descriptiva y transversal que tomó la encuesta rápida de ceguera evitable realizada en Cuba en el año 2016, la cual incluyó la retinopatía diabética validada por la Organización Mundial de la Salud. Con los datos obtenidos en los cuestionarios se confeccionó una base de datos donde se tomaron todos los diabéticos conocidos o no con discapacidad visual. Resultados: La prevalencia de cualquier tipo de discapacidad visual en el diabético es de 25,4 % (21,8-28,9). El riesgo de desarrollar discapacidad visual moderada, grave y ceguera es de 19,4 % (16,5-22,3), 2,8 % (1,0-4,6) y 3,2 % (1,5-4,8) respectivamente. La catarata es la primera causa de discapacidad. El riesgo de discapacidad visual en el diabético es similar para uno y otro sexo y se incrementa con la edad. Las coberturas de tratamiento son bajas. Conclusiones: En Cuba, alrededor de un cuarto de los diabéticos tienen algún riesgo de discapacidad visual. El diabético tiene mayor riesgo de discapacidad visual moderada; sin embargo, el riesgo de discapacidad visual grave y de ceguera es el mismo para toda la población de 50 años y más de edad. La catarata y la retinopatía diabética son las causas más frecuentes de discapacidad visual en el diabético. Se evidencian dificultades con la atención oftalmológica, que incluye el examen y la cobertura de tratamiento de la catarata y del láser para la retinopatía diabética.

ABSTRACT Background: Clinical improvements following highly active antiretroviral therapy (HAART) may increase high-risk behaviors resulting in sexually transmitted infections (STI). Optimism related to the success of HAART in slowing disease progression, reducing viral load, and improving health status might be important factors for increasing sexual risk behaviors such as less use of condoms. Objective: To determine the prevalence of Chlamydia trachomatis, Neisseria gonorrhoeae, syphilis, hepatitis B and C, high-risk HPV, and cervical cytological abnormalities among women living with HIV (WLHIV) who attended a Reference Center for STI/AIDS in Brazil. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted among 151 WLHIV attending an STI Clinic in Vitória city, Brazil. A structured questionnaire, including demographic, behavioral, and clinical information, was used for data collection. Serological tests for HIV, syphilis, hepatitis C and B, CD4 counts, and viral load determination were performed. Cervical samples were collected for cytology and real-time PCR for HPV, Chlamydia, and Neisseria gonorrhoeae. Results: In this study, 59% of women had at least one diagnosed STI at the time of the first clinic visit; 31% had clinical forms of anogenital HPV, 10% syphilis, 8%Neisseria gonorrhoeae, 5.0% trichomoniasis, 3% Chlamydia trachomatis, 1% hepatitis B, and 1% hepatitis C; 6.7% of the women presented with cervical cytological abnormalities. Furthermore, 46.3% of women had HR-HPV, and 17.6% had HPV 16/18. Only 5% of the women had a CD4 count <200 cells/mm3, 61.6% had undetectable HIV viral load, and 81.3% were currently on HAART. Conclusion: A high prevalence of STI and HR-HPV infections were observed among HIV-infected women in this investigation. Prevention programs need to focus on counseling WLHIV and their regular partners with focused interventions such as couples counseling and education programs.

Abstract The objective of this study was the adaptation to Spanish of the ASC ASD-P (Anxiety Scale for Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder, parental version), the only instrument specifically designed to assess anxiety in this population. A non-probabilistic, convenience sample (N = 87) was used, consisting of children and adolescents with ASD between 6 and 18 years. Direct and reverse translation was performed. The factorial structure of the scale and its correspondence with the dimensions of the original version were evaluated. The construct validity was calculated with the ERC, SSP and IUS scales. Internal consistency analysis was performed using Cronbach's alpha coefficient. The exploratory factor analysis yielded a solution of 4 factors, replicative of the structure of the original scale. As convergent validity measures, statistically significant correlations were found between the different scales with a statistical significance of p < .01 in all of them. The internal consistency was .925 for the full scale. The data obtained show that the Spanish version of the ASC ASD scale replicates the factor structure of the original scale and constitutes a valid instrument for the evaluation of anxiety in population with ASD.

Resumen El objetivo de este estudio fue la adaptación al español de la escala ASC ASD-P (Anxiety Scale for Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder, versión parental), único instrumento diseñado específicamente para evaluar la ansiedad en personas con autismo. Se empleó una muestra (N = 87) no probabilística, de conveniencia, formada por niños y adolescentes con TEA entre los 6 y los 18 años. Se realizó traducción directa e inversa. Se evaluó la estructura factorial y su correspondencia con las dimensiones de la versión original. Se calculó la validez de constructo con las escalas ERC, SSP e IUS. Se realizó análisis de consistencia interna mediante el coeficiente alfa de Cronbach. El análisis factorial exploratorio arrojó una solución de 4 factores, replicativos de la estructura de la escala original. Como medidas de validez convergente, se encontraron correlaciones estadísticamente significativas entre las distintas escalas con una significancia estadística de p < .01 en todas ellas. La consistencia interna fue de .925 para la escala completa. Los datos obtenidos ponen de manifiesto que la versión española de la escala ASC ASD replica la estructura factorial de la escala original y constituye un instrumento válido para la evaluación de la ansiedad en población con TEA.

ABSTRACT Objective: Determine the clinical and epidemiological characteristics of diabetic maculopathy in adults aged 50 years and over in Cuba. Methods: A descriptive cross-sectional epidemiological study was conducted based on the Rapid Assessment of Avoidable Blindness survey developed in Cuba in the year 2016, which included diabetic retinopathy with validation by the World Health Organization. Results: Prevalence of any maculopathy grade was 8.5% (6.1 to 10.8), whereas observable, referable maculopathy was 4.2% (2.2 to 6.0). Risk for maculopathy was higher in the female sex with 9.3% (6.6-12.9) and among diabetics from the 60-69 years age group with 9.2% (5.7-14.0). Risk increased in uncontrolled glycemia and when the evolution of the disease was 15 years and over. Association with observable retinopathy was 2.5%. Moderate visual disability due to maculopathy was 1.4%, while severe disability and blindness were 0.8%. Treatment coverage was low (28.6% per persons). Conclusion: Prevalence of maculopathy is low among diabetics aged 50 years and over in Cuba, with similar behavior in the observable and the referable variants. Moderate non-proliferative retinopathy shows a higher risk for macular damage. Visual disability due to macular damage is low among diabetics, though the ophthalmological care strategy for diabetics does not achieve the required effectiveness standards in terms of laser therapy coverage.

RESUMEN Objetivo: Determinar las características clínicas y epidemiológicas de la maculopatía diabética en adultos de 50 años y más en Cuba. Métodos: Se realizó una investigación epidemiológica, descriptiva transversal, que tomó la Encuesta Rápida de Ceguera Evitable realizada en Cuba en el año 2016, la cual incluyó la retinopatía diabética validada por la Organización Mundial de la Salud. Resultados: La prevalencia de cualquier grado de maculopatía fue de 8,5 % (6,1 a 10,8) y la maculopatía observable y remitible fue de 4,2 % (2,2 a 6,0). El riesgo de desarrollar maculopatía resultó mayor en el sexo femenino, con el 9,3 % (6,6-12,9), y en los diabéticos que tenían entre 60 y 69 años de edad, de 9,2 % (5,7-14,0). Este riesgo se incrementaba si existía descontrol de la glicemia y si la enfermedad tenía 15 años y más de evolución. La asociación con la retinopatía observable fue de 2,5 %. La discapacidad visual moderada por maculopatía fue de 1,4 % y la grave junto con la ceguera de 0,8 %. La cobertura de tratamiento fue baja (28,6 % por personas). Conclusiones: El diabético de 50 años y más en Cuba tiene baja prevalencia de maculopatía diabética, la cual se comporta de manera similar para la forma observable y para la remitible. La retinopatía no proliferativa moderada tiene mayor riesgo de afectación macular. La discapacidad visual por afectación macular en el diabético es baja, aunque la estrategia de atención oftalmológica en el diabético no alcanza los estándares necesarios de efectividad, relacionados con la cobertura del tratamiento con láser.

ABSTRACT Introduction: In the hypertension, the stress constitutes a psychosocial risk factor. Objective: To establish the relation between vulnerability to the stress with socio-demographics and clinical variables in adult hypertensive patients of the General hospital Santa Cruz. Methods: Descriptive, transverse study. The universe was constituted of 65 hypertensive patients, diagnosed from January until June, 2019. The intentional sample was 58 hypertensive patients. For the information collection, it was used: the Individual and familiar Case history and the Test of Vulnerability to the Stress. Results: Predominance 70.7 % of hypertensive patients in the third sub-stage of the adulthood, feminine supremacy (69.0 %); the majority with secondary school finished (36.2 %); married (44.8 %) and state workpeople (51.7 %); there prevailed the smokers (81 %); the arterial hypertension grade II prevailed (69 %) and they fulfilled the treatment 53.4 %. The majority presented vulnerability to the stress (65.5 %); better represented in the third sub-stage of the adulthood (81.6 %), women (63.2 %), with secondary school finished (39.5 %), married (42.1 %), state worker (55.3 %), smokers (76.3 %), with arterial hypertension grade II 76.3 %; they always fulfilled the treatment 55.3 %; they presented vulnerable level to the stress 68.4 % of the hypertensive patients. Association existed between the level seriously vulnerably to the stress and the primary schooling (p = 0.007). Discussion: Most of the hypertensive patients presented vulnerability to the stress. The vulnerable level to the stress prevailed; better represented in the third sub-stage of the adulthood, in the women, the smokers, hypertensive grade II and those who were always fulfilled with the treatment. Association existed between the level seriously vulnerably to the stress and the primary schooling.

RESUMEN Introducción: En la hipertensión, el estrés constituye un factor sicosocial de riesgo. Objetivo: establecer la relación entre vulnerabilidad al estrés con variables sociodemográficas y clínicas en pacientes hipertensos adultos del Policlínico Santa Cruz. Métodos: Estudio descriptivo, transversal. El universo lo conformaron 65 hipertensos, diagnosticados de enero a junio del 2019. La muestra intencional fue de 58 hipertensos. Para la recogida de información se emplearon: la Historia Clínica Individual y familiar y el Test de Vulnerabilidad al Estrés. Resultados: Predominio del 70,7 % de hipertensos en la tercera subetapa de la adultez, supremacía femenina (69,0 %); la mayoría con secundaria básica terminada (36,2 %); casados (44,8 %) y trabajadores estatales (51,7 %); predominaron los fumadores (81 %); prevaleció la hipertensión arterial grado II (69 %) y dieron cumplimiento al tratamiento el 53,4 %. La mayoría presentó vulnerabilidad al estrés (65,5%); mejor representado en la tercera subetapa de la adultez (81,6 %), mujeres (63,2 %), con secundaria básica terminada (39,5 %), casados (42,1 %), trabajador estatal (55,3 %), fumadores (76,3 %), con hipertensión arterial grado II el 76,3 %; cumplieron el tratamiento siempre el 55,3 %; presentaron nivel vulnerable al estrés el 68,4 % de los hipertensos. Existió asociación entre el nivel seriamente vulnerable al estrés y la escolaridad primaria (p= 0,007). La mayoría de los hipertensos presentaron vulnerabilidad al estrés. El nivel vulnerable al estrés predominó; mejor representado en la tercera subetapa de la adultez, en las mujeres, los fumadores, los hipertensos grado II y los que siempre cumplían con el tratamiento. Existió asociación entre el nivel seriamente vulnerable al estrés y la escolaridad primaria.

ABSTRACT Introduction: Preeclampsia produces proteinuria, edema and arterial hypertension. Eclampsia appears after preeclampsia or acute with seizures. Both states usually occur towards the end of pregnancy, during or after delivery. Objective: To characterize pregnant or puerperal women with preeclampsia-eclampsia, admitted to the Intensive Care Unit. Methods: A descriptive, prospective and longitudinal study was concluded, in 38 patients who underwent a complete physical examination, complementary tests useful for their diagnosis and APACHE II index. Results: Puerperal pre-eclampsia predominated. The ages between 21 to 35 years prevailed. The most frequent risk factors found were advanced ages, personal history and nulliparity. The stay ranged between 4 and 5 days in both groups, with 100 % of live hospital discharges. Conclusions: The early diagnosis of severe and initial forms of preeclampsia is possible with a strategy of early follow-up in pregnant and puerperal women at risks.

RESUMEN Introducción: La preeclampsia produce proteinuria, edema e hipertensión arterial. La eclampsia aparece luego de la preeclampsia o de forma aguda con convulsiones. Ambos estados suelen producirse hacia el final de la gestación, durante o después del parto. Objetivo: Caracterizar a gestantes o puérperas con preeclampsia-eclampsia, ingresadas en la unidad de cuidados intensivos. Método: Estudio descriptivo, prospectivo y longitudinal, que incluyó 38 pacientes a las que se les realizó examen físico completo, exámenes complementarios de utilidad para su diagnóstico y el índice APACHE II. Resultados: Predominaron las puérperas con preeclampsia y las edades entre 21 a 35 años. Los factores de riesgo más frecuentes encontrados: las edades extremas, antecedentes personales y la nuliparidad. Con una estadía entre 4 y 5 días de ambos grupos, con 100 % de egresos vivos. Conclusiones: Con una estrategia de seguimiento precoz en gestantes y puérperas con riesgo, se puede llegar al diagnóstico de formas graves e incipientes de preeclampsia.
