Abstract Male broiler chickens (384), Cobb 500, were housed in metabolic cages to assess the efficacy of phytase in diets with low and high phytate-phosphorus on the performance, bone physical characteristics, tissue and serum mineral deposits. Birds were distributed in four treatments with a 2 x 2 factorial arrangement in a completely randomized block design. Experimental diets based on maize-soybean meal were T1 – diet low phytate-phosphorus; T2 – diet low phytate-phosphorus and phytase (500 FTU/kg); T3 – diet high phytate-phosphorus; T4 – diet high phytate-phosphorus and phytase (500 FTU/kg). Feed intake, body weight, weight gain and feed conversion ratio were assessed. Two left tibias per experimental unit were analyzed for physical characteristics and mineral concentration; a section of skinless breast muscle and blood were collected to measure the concentration of calcium, phosphorus and sodium. Results showed interaction between bone stiffness and serum calcium. The inclusion of phytase in diets with low and high phytate-phosphorus did not alter performance, bone resistance and flexibility, mineral deposits in the tibia and breast muscle, but increased bone stiffness after 22 days of age. It also provided a higher serum calcium rate in broilers fed diets with low phytate-phosphorus up to 32 days of age.

ABSTRACT Introduction: The mammary glands are organs that during the different stages of life in women undergo modifications, where the processes of proliferation, differentiation and apoptosis are involved, under hormonal control. However, once these hormonal influences cease, changes occur that lead to the involution of said organ. Objective: To determine the shape factor, perimeter, area and volume of the nuclei of glandular epithelial cells. Methods: To characterize healthy mammary glands in women aged 60 years and older, a case series study was conducted on 14 deceased women who had no benign or malignant lesions of the organ. All examined by the Department of Pathological Anatomy of the Provincial Hospital V.I. Lenin in Holguín, in the period between September, 2018 - September, 2019. For a better assessment, the study sample was divided into two age groups: from 60 to 75 years of age; age and older than 75 years. Results: Both the shape factor and the perimeter, area and volume of the nuclei of the epithelial cells of the mammary ducts are lower in women older than 75 years. Conclusions: There are notable differences in the morphometric indicators studied. Epithelial cell nuclei are affected with age, which corresponds to the low metabolic activity of mammary epithelial cells at this stage of life.

RESUMEN Introducción: Las glándulas mamarias son órganos que durante las diferentes etapas de la vida en la mujer sufren modificaciones, donde se involucran los procesos de proliferación, diferenciación y apoptosis, bajo el control hormonal. Sin embargo, una vez que cesan dichas influencias hormonales ocurren cambios que llevan a la involución de dicho órgano. Objetivo: Caracterizar el factor de forma, perímetro, área y volumen de los núcleos de las células epiteliales glandulares mamarias. Métodos: Para caracterizar las glándulas mamarias sanas en mujeres de 60 años y más, se realizó un estudio de serie de casos en 14 mujeres fallecidas que no tenían lesiones benignas o malignas del órgano. Todas examinadas por el departamento de Anatomía Patológica del Hospital Provincial Vladimir Ilich Lenin en Holguín, en el período comprendido de septiembre 2018 a septiembre 2019. Para mejor valoración, la muestra de estudio se dividió en dos grupos de edades: de 60-75 años de edad y mayores de 75 años. Resultados: Tanto el factor de forma como el perímetro, área y volumen de los núcleos de las células epiteliales de los conductos mamarios son menores en las mujeres mayores de 75 años. Conclusiones: Existen diferencias notables en los indicadores morfométricos estudiados en ambos grupos de edades. Específicamente el tamaño y la forma de los núcleos de células epiteliales se ven afectados con la edad, lo cual se corresponde con la baja actividad metabólica de las células epiteliales mamarias en esta etapa de la vida.

Resumen Introducción: Las vacunas representan una solución prometedora para mitigar la COVID-19; sin embargo, esta estrategia tiene importantes retos, uno de ellos la actitud hacia el nuevo biológico. Objetivo: Conocer la actitud de los habitantes del Estado de Guerrero (México), ante la vacuna para controlar la COVID-19. Materiales y métodos: Investigación cuantitativa no experimental de corte transversal descriptivo, a través de un muestreo tipo conglomerados, la muestra se conformó de 296 personas de las diferentes regiones del Estado de Guerrero; se incluyeron personas mayores de 18 años y que desearan participar del estudio a través de consentimiento informado. La recolección de datos fue a través de cuestionarios de Google. Se utilizó la escala para determinar la actitud frente a la vacuna contra COVID-19, compuesta por 2 secciones: Datos sociodemográficos, Actitud ante la Vacuna, esta última sección se estructura de tres subsecciones; Dimensión cognitiva, Dimensión subjetiva y Dimensión conductual, que integra las dos dimensiones. El instrumento tiene 25 ítems con opciones de respuestas cerradas en una escala tipo Likert. Resultados: La actitud hacia la vacuna contra SARS-CoV-2 es predominantemente negativa (52,7%) en la población guerrerense. Conclusión: La dimensión conductual podría considerarse un predictor de aceptación hacia la vacuna contra la COVID-19.

Abstract Introduction: Vaccines have become a promising solution to mitigate COVID-19. However, it faces important challenges, including people’s attitude towards this new therapeutic. Objective: To determine the attitude of the inhabitants of the Guerrero State (Mexico) towards the vaccine to mitigate COVID-19. Materials and methods: Quantitative, non-experimental, descriptive, and cross-sectional research was conducted using a conglomerate-type sampling method. The sample included 296 people from the different regions of the State. The study included participants who were older than 18 years of age and expressed their desire to participate through the informed consent. Questionnaires in Google were used for data collection. The scale to determine the attitude towards COVID-19 vaccine contained two sections: sociodemographic data and attitude towards the vaccine. The last section was subdivided into cognitive, subjective, and behavioral (which includes cognitive and subjective) dimensions. The instrument had 25 items with closed answer options on a Likert-type scale. Results: The attitude towards the COVID-19 vaccine is predominantly negative (52.70%) in the population from Guerrero. Conclusions: The behavioral dimension could be considered a predictor of acceptance towards the COVID-19 vaccine.

Abstract Background Glyphosate is the most effective herbicide to control the invasive and perennial Eragrostis plana in Southern Brazil. However, one application has not been sufficient to prevent the regrowth of plants.Objective: The aim of this research was to evaluate the efficacy of glyphosate sprayed alone or mixed with fluazifop-p-butyl or flumioxazin on E. plana control and to investigate 14C-glyphosate absorption and translocation. Methods Plants with 2-3 tillers were treated with glyphosate (700 g a.e. ha-1), fluazifop-p-butyl (47 g a.i. ha-1), flumioxazin (100 g a.i. ha-1), glyphosate + fluazifop-p-butyl (700 g a.e. ha-1 + 47g a.i. ha-1), glyphosate + flumioxazin (700 g a.e. ha-1 +100 g a.i. ha-1). Weed control was evaluated visually for 28 d after treatment (DAT) when plants were harvested for shoot dry biomass determination. 14C-glyphosate absorption and translocation were measured at 24 and 72 h after treatment. Results Glyphosate at 700 g a.e. ha-1 controlled E. plana plants at 2-3 tillers. The mixture with fluazifop-p-butyl or flumizin did not significantly increase the level of control (87 and 86% at 7 DAT, respectively) but increased 14C-glyphosate translocation to the roots. Conclusions Glyphosate is effective on E. plana. However, applied with fluazifop-p-butyl could improve the control of this weed, especially when perennial plants of E. plana dominate the field, preventing their fast regrowth.

RESUMO Objetivo: Conhecer os principais incidentes de segurança reportados por familiares de pacientes internados em unidades pediátricas. Métodos: Pesquisa de abordagem qualitativa com delineamento exploratório-descritivo. Os dados foram coletados entre abril/2016 e dezembro/2017, em três hospitais de Porto Alegre/RS. Realizaram-se 91 entrevistas semiestruturadas com familiares de pacientes pediátricos hospitalizados em emergências, enfermarias e centros de terapia intensiva. Os depoimentos foram transcritos na íntegra e submetidos à análise de conteúdo temática. Resultados: Formulou-se a categoria Identificação de incidentes de segurança por familiares de pacientes pediátricos hospitalizados. Emergiram oito subtemas: terapia medicamentosa, higienização de mãos e ambiente, dietoterapia, risco de quedas, comunicação, identificação do paciente, processos/procedimentos assistenciais e acesso à instituição. Conclusões: Os familiares identificaram incidentes de segurança em variadas etapas de cuidado à criança hospitalizada. Faz-se necessário pensar em estratégias de integração dos familiares no cuidado à criança para minimizar os riscos e incidentes relacionados ao cuidado.

ABSTRACT Objective: To know the main safety incidents reported by relatives of patients hospitalized in pediatric units. Methods: This is a qualitative research with exploratory-descriptive design. Data were collected between April 2016 and December 2017, in three hospitals in Porto Alegre/RS. A total of 91 semi-structured interviews were conducted with relatives of pediatric patients hospitalized in emergencies, infirmaries, and intensive care centers. The statements were transcribed in full and submitted to a thematic content analysis. Results: The category Identification of safety incidents by relatives of hospitalized pediatric patients was formulated. Eight subtopics emerged: drug therapy, hand and environment hygiene, diet therapy, risk of falls, communication, patient identification, care processes/procedures and access to the institution. Conclusions: The family identified safety incidents in various stages of care for hospitalized children. It is necessary to think about strategies that integrate the family in the care of children, to minimize risks and complications resulting from care.

Surgieron ocho subtemas: terapia con medicamentos, higiene de las manos y ambiente, dietoterapia, riesgo de caídas, comunicación, identificación del paciente, procesos/procedimientos asistenciales y acceso a institución. Conclusiones: los familiares identificaron incidentes de seguridad en variadas etapas de cuidado al niño hospitalizado. Se hace necesario pensar en estrategias de integración de los familiares en el cuidado al niño, revirtiendo ese panorama inseguro de asistencia.

Resumen Introducción: La calidad de vida se define como un estado de bienestar físico, social, emocional, espiritual, intelectual y ocupacional que le permite al individuo satisfacer apropiadamente sus necesidades; un grado de adaptación a su propia condición y a su medio, en función de su estado de salud, sus carencias y del soporte que recibe para suplirlas. Objetivo: Describir la calidad de vida desde el ámbito social en el que se desarrollan los adultos mayores en el Estado de Guerrero, México. Materiales y métodos: Investigación cuantitativa de corte transversal y analítico, la muestra fue probabilística, se incluyeron 75 adultos mayores de 65 años y más, residentes de asilo, casa de día y localidad rural; el criterio de selección aplicado fue la firma previa del consentimiento informado. Se utilizó el Cuestionario sociodemográfico y Cuestionario de Salud SF-36 versión 2 española Health Survey, constituido por preguntas agrupadas con sus respectivos ítems. Resultados: El 80% de los adultos mayores encuestados manifestó mala calidad de vida. Conclusiones: Los adultos mayores guerrerenses presentan porcentajes altos de problemas físicos, emocionales, y sociales, que dan origen a una mala perspectiva de su salud y vida.

Abstract Introduction: Quality of life is defined as a state of social, emotional, spiritual, intellectual and occupational wellbeing. Quality of life allows individuals to properly satisfy their needs and reach a level of adaptation to their own conditions and environments according to their health status, limitations and the support they receive to supplement them. Objective: To describe the quality of life of elderly adults in the State of Guerrero-Mexico, taking into account the social context where they live. Materials and methods: Quantitative research using a cross-sectional and analytical approach. The sample was probabilistic, with 75 adults older than or equal to 65 years of age, who were residents of asylums, day houses or rural areas. The applied selection criterion was their signature of the informed consent form. We used the sociodemographic questionnaire and the Spanish version 2 of the SF-36 Health Survey questionnaire that contains questions grouped within their respective items. Results: 80% of the older adults manifested a poor quality of life. Conclusions: Elderly adults from Guerrero displayed high percentages of physical, emotional and social problems, which ultimately lead to poor health and life perspectives.

Abstract Objective: research aims to evaluate the longitudinality of Primary Health Care (PHC) from the perspective of its users, verifying the association between the population size, Human Development Index (HDI) and Family Health Strategy (FHS) coverage among the municipalities of a Regional Health Coordination in the Southern region of Brazil. Method: cross-sectional study, conducted with 1,076 PHC adult users from 32 municipalities of the 4 Regional Health Coordination of Rio Grande do Sul, from February to June 2015. Data were collected with the Adult Primary Care Assessment Tool and analyzed with the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences software. The Mann-Whitney and Kruskal Wallis tests were used to compare the means. Results: the level of affiliation had a high score (8.6; CI95%: 8.5-8.8) and the longitudinality obtained an unsatisfactory score (6.4; CI95%: 6.3-6.5). The fragilities related to the attribute were the interpersonal relationship between users and professionals; the recognition of users in their comprehensiveness, and the preparation of professionals to assist users. Longitudinality was better evaluated in municipalities with lower population size, lower HDI and higher FHS coverage. Conclusion: longitudinality is unsatisfactory and reveals the need for reorienting PHC and conducting vocational training. However, the greater coverage of FHS suggests that this care model contributes to qualify this attribute.

Resumen Objetivo: Analizar la longitudinalidad del cuidado en la Atención Primaria de Salud (APS) desde la perspectiva de los usuarios y verificar su relación con el tamaño de la población, índice de desarrollo humano y cobertura de la Estrategia Salud de la Familia (ESF) en los municipios de una Regional de Salud en el sur de Brasil. Método: Estudio transversal, realizado con 1076 usuarios adultos de la APS de 32 municipios de la 4ᵃ Coordinación Regional de Salud del estado de Rio Grande do Sul, de febrero a junio de 2015. Los datos fueron recolectados con la herramienta Primary Care Assessment Tool versión adulto y analizados con el programa Statistical Package for the Social Sciences. Para la comparación de promedios se utilizó la prueba Mann-Whitney y Kruskal Wallis. Resultados: El nivel de afiliación fue evaluado con alta puntuación (8,6; IC95%:8,5-8,8) y la longitudinalidad obtuvo una puntuación insatisfactoria (6,4; IC95%:6,3-6,5). Las debilidades relacionadas al atributo fueron la relación interpersonal entre el usuario y el profesional, el reconocimiento del usuario en su integralidad y la preparación de los profesionales para dar auxilio a los usuarios. La longitudinalidad fue mejor evaluada en los municipios con menor población, menor índice de desarrollo humano y mayor cobertura de la ESF. Conclusión: La longitudinalidad es insatisfactoria y revela la necesidad de reorientación de la APS y de la formación profesional. No obstante, la mayor cobertura de la ESF sugiere que ese modelo asistencial contribuye para cualificar ese atributo.

Método: estudo transversal, realizado com 1.076 usuários adultos da APS de 32 municípios da 4ᵃ Coordenadoria Regional de Saúde do Rio Grande do Sul, de fevereiro a junho de 2015. Os dados foram coletados com o instrumento Primary Care Assessment Tool versão adulto e analisados com o programa Statistical Package for the Social Sciences. Para a comparação de médias utilizou-se o teste Mann-Whitney e Kruskal Wallis. Resultados: o grau de afiliação foi avaliado com alto escore (8,6; IC95%:8,5-8,8) e a longitudinalidade obteve um escore insatisfatório (6,4; IC95%:6,3-6,5). As fragilidades relacionadas ao atributo foram a relação interpessoal entre o usuário e profissional; o reconhecimento do usuário em sua integralidade e o preparo dos profissionais para auxiliar os usuários. A longitudinalidade foi melhor avaliada nos municípios com menor porte populacional, menor índice de desenvolvimento humano e com maior cobertura de ESF. Conclusão: a longitudinalidade é insatisfatória e revela a necessidade de reorientação da APS e da formação profissional, contudo a maior cobertura da ESF sugere que esse modelo assistencial contribui para qualificar esse atributo.

RESUMO: Prototheca spp. tem sido relatado como um patógeno ambiental causador de mastite bovina em vários países. A formação de biofilme é um fator associado a diferentes graus de virulência desenvolvidos por muitos microrganismos, incluindo Prototheca zopfii. O presente estudo teve como objetivo comparar duas condições de crescimento e dois corantes para determinar a combinação mais adequada para avaliar qualitativa e quantitativamente a produção de biofilme por P. zopfii. A formação de biofilme foi avaliada em microplacas de poliestireno sob condições estáticas e dinâmicas de crescimento e coloração com cristal violeta ou azul de algodão. Todos os isolados de P. zopfii de vacas com mastite foram caracterizados como produtores de biofilme, independentemente das condições de crescimento e coloração. O corante azul de algodão demonstrou ser o método mais adequado para classificar a intensidade de produção de biofilme de P. zopfii.

ABSTRACT: Prototheca spp. have been reported as an emergent environmental mastitis pathogen in several countries. Biofilm formation is a significant factor associated with different degrees of virulence developed by many microorganisms, including Prototheca spp. The present study aimed to compare two growth conditions and two staining dyes to determine which combination was more appropriate to evaluate qualitatively and quantitatively the production of biofilm by P. zopfii. Biofilm formation was evaluated in polystyrene microplates under static and dynamic growth conditions and staining with crystal violet or cotton blue dye. All P. zopfii isolates from cows with mastitis were classified as biofilm-producers in all growth conditions and staining. The cotton blue dye proved to be more appropriate method to classify the intensity of P. zopfii biofilm production.

RESUMO As opções terapêuticas para esclerose múltipla (EM) modificaram-se ao longo dos últimos anos, trazendo uma nova categoria de drogas com melhor perfil de eficácia. No entanto, estas drogas vieram com um novo perfil de potenciais eventos adversos que exigem que o neurologista os reconheça bem e rapidamente. Uma das complicações mais temidas destes tratamentos para a EM é a leucoencefalopatia multifocal progressiva (LEMP), causada pela reativação do vírus John Cunningham (JCV). Objetivo: Identificar o perfil sorológico de JCV em pacientes com EM. Métodos: Dados sorológicos de JCV foram obtidos através do ensaio por enzimas imuno-adsorvidas (ELISA) fornecido pelo programa STRATIFY-JCV. Resultados: Um total de 1.501 testes sanguíneos foram obtidos de 1.102 pacientes com EM. O grupo teve 633 pacientes (57,1%) soropositivos para anticorpos anti-JCV e 469 pacientes negativos (42,9%). Vinte e três pacientes se tornaram posivitos após resultados iniciais negativos para anticorpos anti-JCV. A taxa de soroconversão foi 18,5% em 22 meses. Conclusão: O perfil sorológico do JCV e a soroconversão nos pacientes brasileiros foi semelhante àquela descrita em outros países.

ABSTRACT Treatment options for multiple sclerosis (MS) have changed over the last few years, bringing about a new category of drugs with more efficient profiles. However, these drugs have come with a whole new profile of potential adverse events that neurologists have to learn well and quickly. One of the most feared complications of these MS treatments is progressive multifocal leukoencephalopathy caused by the reactivation of the John Cunningham virus (JCV). Objective: To identify the serologic profile of JCV in patients with MS. Methods: Data on serum antibodies for JCV were obtained using the enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay provided by the STRATIFY-JCV program. Results: A total of 1,501 blood tests were obtained from 1,102 patients with MS. There were 633 patients (57.1%) who were positive for antibodies for JCV and 469 patients who were negative (42.9%). Twenty-three patients became positive after initially having negative JCV antibody status. The rate of seroconversion was 18.5% over 22 months. Conclusion: The JCV serologic profile and seroconversion in Brazilian patients were similar to those described in other countries.

ABSTRACT Objective: to analyze the use of psychoactive substances and the knowledge of the consequences of alcohol, marijuana and cocaine use among first-year and final-year undergraduate nursing students. Method: descriptive cross-sectional study, with 141 nursing undergraduates from a public university in the state of São Paulo. Data was collected using the Questionnaire for Screening the Use of Alcohol, Tobacco and Other Substances and a questionnaire on the knowledge of the consequences of alcohol, marijuana and cocaine use. Fisher's exact test, Pearson's chi-square and Student's t-test were applied for analysis. Results: alcohol and marijuana were the substances most commonly used by students. Concerning students' knowledge of the consequences of alcohol, marijuana and cocaine use, the majority answered more than 50% of the questionnaire correctly, which is considered a good level of knowledge. Furthermore, 86.5% answered more than half of the questions correctly in relation to alcohol, 68.8% to marijuana and 76.6% to cocaine. Regarding the mean scores on the knowledge of the consequences of substance use between first-year and final-year students, there was a statistically significant difference for alcohol (p=0.026) and cocaine (p<0.001), with final-year students obtaining higher scores. Conclusion: the hypothesis that knowledge of the consequences of drug use affects drug use was confirmed only for marijuana. The results highlight the need to consider reviewing content being taught to undergraduate nursing students on psychoactive substance use.

RESUMEN Objetivo: analizar el estándar de consumo de substancias psicoactivas y el conocimiento de las consecuencias del uso de alcohol, marihuana y cocaína de los estudiantes de la graduación en enfermería en el primer año y en el último año del curso. Método: estudio descriptivo - transversal con 141 graduandos de enfermería de una universidad pública del interior del Estado de São Paulo. Para la recolección de los datos se utilizaron el Cuestionario para Selección del Uso de Alcohol, Tabaco y otras Sustancias y un cuestionario sobre el conocimiento de las consecuencias del uso de alcohol, marihuana y cocaína. Para el análisis se aplicaron el test Exacto de Fisher, el Chi-cuadrado de Pearson y el Test t de Student. Resultados: el alcohol y la marihuana fueron las sustancias más consumidas por los estudiantes. Sobre las consecuencias en el uso de alcohol, marihuana y cocaína, la mayoría alcanzó más del 50% de aciertos, considerado como un buen conocimento, siendo que el 86,5% obtuvo más de la mitad de aciertos en relación al alcohol, el 68,8% para la marihuana y el 76,6% para la cocaína. En relación al promedio de los resultados sobre el conocimiento de tales consecuencias entre los alumnos ingresantes y los del último año, se encontró una diferencia estadísticamente significativa para el alcohol (p=0,026) y la cocaína (p<0,001), siendo que los alumnos del último año alcanzaron resultados mayores. Conclusión: la hipótesis de que el conocimiento de las consecuencias del consumo de drogas interfiere en el uso fue apenas confirmada para la marihuana. Los resultados posibilitan repensar la importancia de la revisión de contenidos sobre la temática para los alumnos de la graduación en enfermería.

RESUMO Objetivo: analisar o padrão de consumo de substâncias psicoativas e o conhecimento das consequências do uso de álcool, maconha e cocaína de estudantes de graduação em enfermagem no primeiro e no último ano do curso. Método: estudo descritivo, transversal, com 141 graduandos de enfermagem de uma universidade pública do interior do Estado de São Paulo. Para coleta dos dados foram utilizados o Questionário para Triagem do Uso de Álcool, Tabaco e outras Substâncias e um questionário sobre o conhecimento das consequências do uso de álcool, maconha e cocaína. Para análise, foram aplicados o teste Exato de Fisher, o Qui-quadrado de Pearson e o Teste t de Student. Resultados: o álcool e a maconha foram as substâncias mais consumidas pelos estudantes. Quanto às consequências do uso de álcool, maconha e cocaína, a maioria alcançou mais de 50% de acertos, considerado um bom conhecimento, sendo que 86,5% obtiveram mais da metade de acertos em relação ao álcool, 68,8% para a maconha e 76,6% para a cocaína. Quanto à média dos escores sobre o conhecimento de tais consequências entre os alunos ingressantes e aqueles do último ano, encontrou-se diferença estatisticamente significativa para o álcool (p=0,026) e a cocaína (p<0,001), sendo que os alunos do último ano atingiram maiores escores. Conclusão: a hipótese de que o conhecimento das consequências do consumo de drogas interfere no uso foi confirmada apenas para a maconha. Os resultados possibilitam repensar a importância da revisão de conteúdos sobre a temática aos alunos de graduação em enfermagem.

RESUMO: Para avaliar a eficiência da fitase em dietas com baixo e alto teor de fósforo fítico (PP), em função da inclusão ou não do farelo de trigo, sobre o peso relativo de órgãos, morfometria intestinal e desempenho, foram alojados 384 frangos de corte, machos da linhagem Cobb500, em gaiolas metabólicas. Os animais foram distribuídos em quatro tratamentos em um arranjo fatorial 2x2 em delineamento de blocos casualizados com oito repetições e 12 aves por unidade experimental (UE). A partir de 11 dias de idade as aves receberam as dietas experimentais, que consistiram em: Dieta com baixo teor de PP; Dieta com baixo teor de PP com fitase (500FTU kg-1); Dieta com alto teor de PP e Dieta com alto teor de PP com fitase (500FTU kg-1). Aos 22 e 32 dias de idade foram abatidas duas aves por UE para coletar a moela, coração, fígado, ceco, bolsa cloacal, e aos 32 dias foi coletada uma porção do duodeno, jejuno e íleo para avaliação da morfometria. No período de 22 a 32 dias de idade foram avaliados o consumo médio de ração, ganho de peso médio, peso médio corporal e a conversão alimentar. Os dados foram submetidos à análise de variância, onde foram testados os efeitos fixos de dieta e fitase e a interação entre os fatores, bem como o efeito aleatório de bloco. Não foi observada interação significativa para nenhuma das variáveis estudadas, concluindo-se que a fitase em dietas com baixo ou alto de PP não altera o peso relativo dos órgãos, a morfometria intestinal e o desempenho, apenas efeitos isolados foram observados.

ABSTRACT: In order to evaluate the efficiency of phytase in diets with low and high phytate phosphorus (PP) 0content, as a consequence of wheat bran inclusion, on the relative weight of organs, intestinal morphometry and performance, three hundred and eighty-four male Cobb500 broilers were housed in metabolic cages. Animals were assigned into four treatments in a 2x2 factorial scheme in a randomized block design with eight replicates of 12 birds each. From 11 days of age birds received experimental diets, which consisted of: Diet low in PP; Diet low in PP with phytase (500FTU kg-1); Diet with a high PP and Diet with a high PP with phytase (500FTU kg-1). At 22 and 32 days of age two birds were slaughtered in order to collect gizzard, heart, liver, cecum, cloacal bursa, and at 32 days, a portion of the duodenum, jejunum and ileum was collected for morphometric evaluation. From 22 to 32 days of age average feed intake, average weight gain, average body weight and feed conversion ratio were also evaluated. Data were subjected to analysis of variance, fixed effects of diet and phytase and interaction between factors as well as the random block effects were tested. There was no significant interaction for the variables studied, concluding that phytase in diets with low or high phytate phosphorus content did not change the relative weight of organs, intestinal morphometrics and performance; only isolated effects were observed.
