Data assimilation has been widely used for improvement of crop models’ estimates, for example to incorporate the effects of external events or compensate calibration errors in large areas. The term describes multiple approaches for those who want to take advantage of satellite imagery to reduce uncertainty or improve accuracy of model estimates. Kalman Filters are among the most used methods for achieving these goals. But their use in new contexts, i.e., from open field to protected environments, requires untangling aspects of the pipeline that are often performed in many different ways without guidelines, such as which variables to assimilate or how to ascribe uncertainty to observations or model estimates. This study is then divided in two parts. In the first, we review details on how uncertainty is ascribed on crop model estimates and in observations for applications of the Kalman Filter and three variations of the method, i.e., the Extended, Unscented and Ensemble, as well as which state variables are often updated and the frequency with which assimilation may occur, as well as how these aspects are connected to each other. In the second part, we apply different approaches from the reviewed literature in a greenhouse tomato crop model. We use artificial data with controlled noise levels as well as artificial data generated by simulation using other tomato crop model. We assess the impacts of using different methods and different approaches for ascribing uncertainty in model estimates and in observations, by assimilating artificial observations of fruit and of mature fruit biomass. We note that covariances should not be fixed values, that there are trade-offs between ascribing model uncertainty to the state itself and to other elements of the process, that observation covariance may have been considered disproportionality higher when using some ensemble generation approaches in the EnKF, and that bias in model estimates may lead to worse outcomes even when observations are high-quality ones. While we discussed aspects that should be considered in a new environment, many of them are also important for field crops, and we concluded assimilation should follow an assessment of which variables could be useful for assimilation.

ABSTRACT Introduction: The literature presents several scientifically validated and cross-culturally adapted questionnaires in the area of orthopedics and Sports Medicine scientifically validated and cross-culturally adapted. However, they are anatomically specific, and do not consider the specific needs of athletes. The “4-Domain PROM for Orthopedic and Sports Medicine” (4-Domain Sports PROM) is the first questionnaire, in the literature (International Journal of Sports Medicine - 2021), designed to assess athletes and highly active sports practitioners, and their specificities. physical and psychological. It comprises four domains: athlete without injury, after sports injury, expectation of treatment, athlete's assessment of the treatment received. Objectives: This work aims to carry out the translation and cross-cultural adaptation (TCA) to the Portuguese language. Methods: The questionnaire was self-administered by 50 participants, regular physical and sports activities practitioners. The translation and cultural adaptation process involved six steps: translation; synthesis; back translation; pre-test; review by the Expert Committee, clinical application and author approval of the original version. The Equivalence of translation and relevance of questionnaire items were evaluated. RESULTS: The Portuguese version of the 4-DOMAIN SPORTS PROM had a translation equivalence of 0.94, and item relevance was 0.98, while the percentage of agreement between patients for understanding was 0.98. Conclusion: The translation and cross-cultural adaptation of the 4 Domain Sports PROM into the Portuguese version proved to be understandable and reproducible in all questionnaire domains (agreement above 90% and content validity index of 100%) to assess the treatment of the population of athletes and regular sports practitioners. RESUMEN Introducción: La literatura presenta varios cuestionarios científicamente validados y transculturalmente adaptados en el área de la ortopedia y Medicina del Deporte. Sin embargo, son anatómicamente específicos y no consideran las necesidades específicas de los atletas. El “4-Domain PROM for Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine” (4-Domain Sports PROM) es el primer cuestionario, en la literatura (International Journal of Sports Medicine - 2021), diseñado para evaluar atletas y practicantes de deportes altamente activos, y sus especificidades físicas y psicológicas. Comprende cuatro dominios: atleta sin lesión, después de una lesión deportiva, expectativa de tratamiento, evaluación del atleta sobre el tratamiento recibido. Objetivos: El objetivo de este trabajo es realizar la traducción y adaptación transcultural (TCA) a la lengua portuguesa. Métodos: El cuestionario fue autoadministrado por 50 participantes, practicantes habituales de actividades físicas y deportivas. El proceso de traducción y adaptación cultural involucró seis pasos: traducción; síntesis; traducción inversa; prueba previa; revisión por el comité de expertos; aplicación clínica y aprobación del autor de la versión original. Se evaluaron la equivalencia de traducción y la relevancia de los ítems del cuestionario. Resultados: La versión portuguesa del 4-DOMAIN SPORTS PROM tuvo una equivalencia de traducción de 0,94 y la relevancia de los ítems fue de 0,98, mientras que el porcentaje de acuerdo entre los pacientes para la comprensión fue de 0,98. Conclusión: La traducción y adaptación transcultural del 4-DOMAIN SPORTS PROM al portugués amplía las posibilidades de evaluar los diferentes momentos que involucran el tratamiento de lesiones deportivas, ya que este cuestionario fue diseñado para capturar datos sobre la percepción de los pacientes antes de la lesión, después de la lesión, expectativa y evaluación del trato recibido en deportistas y practicantes habituales de actividad física. O “4-Domain PROM for Orthopedic and Sports Medicine” (4-Domain Sports PROM) é o primeiro questionário, na literatura (International Journal of Sports Medicine - 2021), concebido para avaliar atletas e praticantes de esportes altamente ativos, e suas especificidades físicas e psicológicas. Ele compreende quatro domínios: atleta sem lesão, após lesão esportiva, expectativa do tratamento, avaliação do atleta sobre o tratamento recebido. Objetivos: O objetivo deste trabalho é realizar a tradução e a adaptação transcultural (TCA) à língua portuguesa. Conclusão: A tradução e adequação cultural do 4-DOMAIN SPORTS PROM para língua portuguesa mostrou-se compreensível e reprodutibilidade adequada em todos os domínios do questionário (concordância acima de 90% e Índice de Validade de Conteúdo de 100%) para avaliar o tratamento de população de indivíduos atletas e praticantes regulares de esportes. Nível de Evidência II; Estudo Qualitativo Transversal.

Resumen Con el aumento exponencial de la cantidad de datos generados diariamente, se ha intensificado el interés de las organizaciones por desarrollar estrategias para el manejo de Big Data. Un ejemplo de Big Data brasileño es la Plataforma CNPq Lattes, que permite extraer información de los currículos de los investigadores registrados en ella. Una de las limitaciones de la plataforma es que la información se ordena individualmente para cada investigador y sin un estándar de indexación, lo que hace imposible extraer datos de los investigadores simultáneamente. Para remediar este problema, se desarrolló el software ScriptLattes, utilizado en el presente estudio, para extraer información de los currículos de investigadores en oncología inyectable, con el fin de obtener una visión panorámica de sus producciones técnico-científicas. En cuanto a las actividades realizadas por estos especialistas en el período analizado, se observaron un total de: 85.465 artículos completos publicados, 24.068 producciones técnicas y 13.496 proyectos implementados. Los análisis de red realizados con la ayuda del software Gephi señalaron al Dr. Fernando de Queiroz Cunha, de la Facultad de Medicina de Ribeirão Preto (USP), como el investigador más destacado del área. A pesar de las limitaciones de la Plataforma Lattes, los resultados demostraron ser eficientes, posibilitando la generación de conocimiento científico y tecnológico en oncología inyectable en varios niveles institucionales.

Abstract With the exponential increase in the amount of data generated daily, the interest of organizations in developing strategies for handling Big Data has intensified. An example of Brazilian Big Data is the CNPq Lattes Platform, which allows extracting information from the curricula of researchers registered therein. One of the limitations on the platform is that the information is arranged individually for each researcher and without an indexing standard, making it impossible to extract data from researchers simultaneously. To remedy this problem, the ScriptLattes software was developed, used in the present study, to extract information from the curricula of researchers in injectable oncology, to obtain a panoramic view of their technical and scientific productions. Regarding the activities carried out by these specialists in the analyzed period, a total of: 85,465 published complete articles, 24,068 technical productions and 13,496 implemented projects were observed. Networking analyzes performed applying Gephi software pointed Dr. Fernando de Queiroz Cunha, from the Faculty of Medicine of Ribeirão Preto (USP), as the most prominent researcher in the area. Despite the limitations of the Lattes Platform, the results proved to be efficient, enabling the generation of scientific and technological knowledge in injectable oncology at various institutional levels.

Resumo Com o aumento exponencial na quantidade de dados gerados diariamente, têm-se intensificado o interesse das organizações em desenvolver estratégias para o tratamento do Big Data. Um exemplo de Big Data brasileiro é a Plataforma Lattes do CNPq, que permite extrair informações dos currículos dos pesquisadores nela cadastrados. Uma das limitações na plataforma é que as informações são dispostas individualmente para cada pesquisador e sem um padrão de indexação, impossibilitando a extração dos dados dos pesquisadores simultaneamente. Para sanar tal problema, foi desenvolvido o software ScriptLattes, utilizado no presente estudo, para extrair as informações dos currículos dos pesquisadores em oncológicos injetáveis, visando obter uma visão panorâmica das produções técnicas e científicas destes. Apesar das limitações da Plataforma Lattes, os resultados mostraram-se eficientes, possibilitando a geração de conhecimento científico e tecnológico em oncológicos injetáveis em vários níveis institucionais.

ABSTRACT The growth and yield performance of white oat cultivars may vary in response to doses of trinexapac-ethyl (TE) growth regulator. The objective of the work was to evaluate the lodging and productive performance of white oat cultivars under different doses of trinexapac-ethyl growth regulator. The experiments were carried out in a randomized complete block design with four replications, in a 4 x 2 factorial scheme, with four doses of trinexapac-ethyl (0, 50, 100 and 150 g ha-1) applied in the phenological stage between the 1st visible stalk node and the 2nd perceptible node in two white oat cultivars (URS Altiva and URS Corona). The following were evaluated: plant height, panicle length, panicles per m2, spikelets per panicle, grains per spikelet, number of grains per panicle, thousand grain weight, plant lodging and grain yield. The application of trinexapac-ethyl at doses 100 and 150 g ha-1 reduces plant height and panicle components: length, number of spikelets and grains per panicle of the two cultivars. TE doses above 100 g ha-1 provide a significant reduction in lodging with an increase in the number of panicles per m2 and in grain yield for the two white oat cultivars.

RESUMO Objetivo: Comparar o desempenho de indicadores antropométricos para identificar o excesso de gordura corporal (GC) em adolescentes. Métodos: Estudo metodológico com amostragem probabilística por conglomerados, por sorteio das escolas e turmas. A coleta de dados incluiu características sociodemográficas e medidas antropométricas. O índice de massa corporal (IMC), a relação cintura-estatura (RCE), o índice de conicidade (IC) e a circunferência da cintura (CC) foram calculados. O percentual de gordura corporal (%GC) foi calculado com base na espessura das dobras cutâneas e utilizado como padrão-ouro. Para analisar os dados, foram utilizadas estatísticas descritivas, teste t de Student, curva Receiver Operating Characteristic (ROC) e índice de Youden. Foi calculado o coeficiente de correlação entre os indicadores e o %GC. Resultados: Participaram do estudo 997 adolescentes de escolas municipais. Identificou-se, pelo IMC, que 10,6% dos adolescentes apresentavam sobrepeso e 4,7%, obesidade. O IMC, a CC e a RCE apresentaram a maior acurácia para predizer a gordura corporal. Todos os indicadores antropométricos apresentaram especificidade superior à sensibilidade para diagnosticar excesso de GC no sexo masculino. A CC apresentou a maior sensibilidade em ambos os sexos. O IC apresentou a menor área sob a curva ROC e a menor sensibilidade em ambos os sexos, mas especificidade equivalente aos demais indicadores. Conclusões: IMC, RCE e CC apresentaram a melhor capacidade de predizer excesso de GC em adolescentes e os melhores coeficientes de correlação. Essas ferramentas podem ser consideradas formas de rastreamento na identificação do excesso de GC em adolescentes.

Abstract Objective: To compare the performance of anthropometric indicators that identify excess body fat (BF) in adolescents. Methods: This is a methodological study that used probability cluster sampling through school and class draws. Data collection included sociodemographic characteristics and anthropometric measures. Body mass index (BMI), waist-to-height ratio (WtHR), conicity index (C index), and waist circumference (WC) were calculated. Body fat percentage (BF%) was calculated from skinfold thickness and used as the gold standard. To analyze the data, descriptive statistics, Student’s t-test, Receiver Operating Characteristic (ROC) curve, and Youden’s index were used, in addition to correlation coefficient calculation between the indicators and BF%. Results: A total of 997 adolescents enrolled in municipal secondary schools participated in the study. By calculating the BMI, we found that 10.6% of adolescents were overweight, and 4.7% were obese. BMI, WC, and WtHR had the highest accuracy to predict body fatness. All the anthropometric indicators had higher specificity than sensitivity to diagnose excess BF in males. WC had the highest sensitivity in both genders. C index had the smallest area under the ROC curve and the lowest sensitivity in both genders, but its specificity was equivalent to that of the other indicators. Conclusions: BMI, WtHR, and WC were the best anthropometric indicators to predict excess BF in adolescents and had the best correlation coefficients. These tools can be considered in the screening to detect excess BF in adolescents.

ABSTRACT The ideal ventral hernia surgical repair is still in discussion1. The defect closure with a mesh-based repair is the base of surgical repair, in open or minimally invasive techniques2. The open methods lead to a higher surgical site infections incidence, meanwhile, the laparoscopic IPOM (intraperitoneal onlay mesh) increases the risk of intestinal lesions, adhesions, and bowel obstruction, in addition to requiring double mesh and fixation products which increase its costs and could worsen the post-operative pain3-5. The eTEP (extended/enhanced view totally intraperitoneal) technique has also arisen as a good option for this hernia repair. To avoid the disadvantages found in classic open and laparoscopic techniques, the MILOS (Endoscopically Assisted Mini or Less Open Sublay Repair) concept, created by W. Reinpold et al. in 2009, 3 years after eTEP conceptualization, allows the usage of bigger meshes through a small skin incision and laparoscopic retro-rectus space dissection, as the 2016 modification, avoiding an intraperitoneal mesh placement6,7. This new technique has been called E-MILOS (Endoscopic Mini or Less Open Sublay Repair)8. The aim of this paper is to report the E-MILOS techniques primary experience Brazil, in Santa Casa de Misericórdia de São Paulo.

RESUMO O tratamento cirúrgico ideal para correção das hérnias ventrais ainda é motivo de grande discussão1. O fechamento do defeito associado a utilização de telas para reforço da parede abdominal são passos fundamentais da terapia cirúrgica, podendo ser realizados tanto pela via aberta quanto pelas técnicas minimamente invasivas2. A via aberta apresenta maiores taxas de infecção de sítio cirúrgico, enquanto o reparo laparoscópico IPOM (intraperitoneal onlay mesh) acarreta um risco aumentado de lesões intestinais, aderências e obstruções intestinais, além de requerer uso de telas de dupla face e dispositivos de fixação que encarecem o procedimento e não raro aumentam a dor no pós-operatório3-5. A técnica eTEP (extended/enhanced view totally extraperitoneal), tem ganhado importância, mostrando-se uma boa opção para a correção das hérnias ventrais também2. A fim de se evitar as desvantagens das técnicas abertas e laparoscópicas “clássicas” o conceito MILOS (Endoscopically Assisted Mini or Less Open Sublay Repair), desenvolvido por W. Reinpold et al. em 2009, 3 anos antes do advento do eTEP, possibilita ao cirurgião o uso de telas de grandes dimensões no plano retromuscular através de uma pequena incisão na pele e dissecção laparoscópica deste espaço, conforme modificação realizada em 2016, evitando a colocação de uma tela no espaço intraperitoneal6-7. ABSTRACT. This study aimed to evaluate the nutrition of commercial soybean crops in an agricultural frontier region using the diagnosis and recommendation integrated system (DRIS) and compositional nutrient diagnosis (CND) methods, as well as identify sufficiency ranges. The study was performed by collecting leaf samples (third trifoliate leaf without petiole) at flowering from commercial soybean crops in the states of Piauí and Maranhão, Brazil, and evaluating the crop yield by analyzing macro- and micronutrients in the plant tissue of 98 samples. The DRIS and CND methods were applied based on the cataloged data, followed by the generation of norms, analysis of relationships between yield and nutrients (selecting high-yield crops by the cumulative function of the data), generation of sufficiency ranges, and comparison of methods. The relationships obtained by the DRIS and CND indices with the yield and nutrients were significant, indicating that both methods can be employed for the evaluation of leaf nutrients in soybean. The sufficiency ranges from the DRIS and CND methods presented superior nutrient ranges in relation to the values proposed in the literature for macronutrients, except for nitrogen, and greater range amplitudes for micronutrients.

ABSTRACT: Verminosis in small ruminants can render rural activity impractical, which is still controlled through the administration of anthelmintics. The present study evaluated four agro-industrial residues as fertilizer in the control of GIN of small ruminants in the free-living stage. Crab shell, manipueira, biochar, and organomineral residues were used in pots (5.0 kg of soil) and cultivated with Massai grass (Megathyrsus maximum cv. Massai). Further, the pots were contaminated with feces from sheep carrying a natural multispecific infection by GIN. Next, the residues were applied individually to the soil, with 50 mL/pot for liquid and 50 g/pot for solid residues. Treatment with manipueira showed the lowest number of L3.kg MS-1 recovered from the grass (202.44), when compared with treatments using organomineral (823.89) and biochar (689.34). However, there was no statistically significant difference (P < 0.05) between the four treatments as compared to the control group. These agro-industrial residues can be used as organic fertilizers; however, these will not help in the control of GIN in sheep.

RESUMO: A verminose em pequenos ruminantes é uma doença que pode inviabilizar a atividade rural. Embora o sucesso no controle dos nematóides gastrointestinais de pequenos ruminantes dependa da adoção associada de diferentes estratégias e tecnologias, ainda é possível notar a escolha, por parte de alguns ovinocaprinocultores, pelo tratamento exclusivamente baseado na administração de anti-helmínticos aos animais. Contudo, é no ambiente que encontramos um elevado número de formas imaturas de nematóides gastrointestinais. Objetivou-se com o presente trabalho avaliar quatro resíduos agroindustriais como adubo no controle dos nematóides gastrointestinais de pequenos ruminantes, em estádio de vida livre. Casca de caranguejo, manipueira, biochar e organomineral foram os resíduos empregados nos vasos com capacidade média de 5,0 kg de solo, onde foi cultivado o capim Massai (Megathyrsus maximus cv. Massai). Após corte de uniformização do capim, os vasos foram contaminados utilizando-se fezes de ovinos portadores de infecção natural multiespecífica por nematóides gastrointestinais. E, na sequência, os resíduos foram aplicados individualmente no solo, na quantidade de 50 mL/vaso para o resíduo líquido e 50 g/vaso para os sólidos. O tratamento com a manipueira foi o que apresentou o menor número de larvas infectantes de terceiro estádio (L3) recuperado do capim (202,44 L3.kg MS-1) quando comparado com os tratamentos utilizando organomineral (823,89 L3.kg MS-1) e biochar (689,34 L3.kg MS-1). Contudo, não houve diferença estatística significativa (P < 0,05) entre os quatro tratamentos testados quando comparado ao grupo controle. Os resíduos agroindustriais podem ser utilizados como adubos orgânicos, mas não vão auxiliar no controle dos nematóides gastrintestinais dos ovinos.

Abstract: Introduction: Due to the high contamination rate and number of cases of the SARS-Cov-2, local authorities decreed the closure of universities and schools, which has forced these institutions to come up with innovative solutions for the continuation of their activities. Objective: The aim of this study is to assess both the impact and level of satisfaction amongst undergraduate students of the online teaching of theoretical anesthesiology as an alternative method to the face-to-face teaching as the latter is currently impaired by the difficulties imposed by the pandemic. Methodology: The teaching method chosen consisted of conducting online classes taught by a specialist using the Microsoft Teams platform. The level of knowledge of the participants was assessed through the application of questionnaires before and after each term of the course. Results: A total of 812 questionnaires were completed, with a significant increase of 41.61% in the average of correct answers (3.94 vs 5.57; p <0.001). Conclusion: The main focus of this study is that the e-learning of theoretical anesthesiology and its results showed considerable increase in the students’ knowledge. Also, it was observed that the levels of satisfaction were higher than the expectation levels.

Resumo: Introdução: Devido à alta taxa de contaminação do SARS-Cov-2 e ao surgimento de um grande número de casos, autoridades locais decretaram o fechamento de universidades e escolas, demandando a implementação de soluções inovadoras para a continuidade das atividades acadêmicas. Objetivo: O objetivo do presente estudo é avaliar o impacto e nível de satisfação do modelo de ensino teórico à distância de anestesiologia em alunos de graduação como método alternativo ao ensino presencial em virtude das dificuldades impostas pela pandemia. Metodologia: O método utilizado consistiu na realização de aulas online ministradas por professor especialista através da plataforma Microsoft Teams. O nível de conhecimento dos participantes foi avaliado por meio da aplicação de questionários antes e após cada módulo do curso. Resultados: Um total de 812 questionários foram preenchidos, tendo sido constatado um aumento significativo de 41,61% na média de acertos geral (3,94 vs 5,57; p < 0,001). Conclusão: O presente estudo trouxe o ensino teórico em anestesiologia à distância como foco principal e os seus resultados mostraram ganho de conhecimento considerável por parte dos participantes. Além disso, foram observados maiores níveis de satisfação em detrimento dos de expectativa.

Developing biomaterials for tissue regeneration is a promising alternative for the recovery of various tissues, including bone. Atorvastatin (ATV) has a series of beneficial effects which includes bone anabolism, vasodilating, and anti-inflammatory actions. The main objective of this work was to produce and characterize polycaprolactone (PCL) matrices incorporated with ATV. Samples were prepared by the solvent casting technique. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-Ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared spectrometry (FTIR), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and in vitro release studies were performed. FTIR analysis showed that no chemical bonds were formed between PCL and ATV. SEM analysis showed that the amount of ATV affects sample morphology. According to XRD and thermal analysis, the main ATV characteristics were maintained. The studies showed that PCL/ATV samples release the drug in a prolonged way since its release reaches around 50% after 15000 minutes of analysis and the model that showed the best fit for the studied matrices was the Higuchi model, with a correlation coefficient above 0.95.

ABSTRACT Agroforestry systems have the potential to increase soil organic matter, with effects on soil carbon and nitrogen contents, but information on the application of these systems in semi-arid regions is still scarce. This study aimed to analyze soil carbon and nitrogen stocks in the conversion of native forest from the Caatinga Biome into integrated agriculture systems in the Brazilian semi-arid region. We evaluated the following management systems in the Haplic Inceptisol (Cambissolo Háplico eutrófico): (1) Intercropping area, cultivated with corn and Massai grass; (2) Caatinga (natural vegetation); (3) AFS10: agroforestry system with native woody forest rows occupying 33 % and agriculture occupying 66 % of the total area; and (4) AFS20: agroforestry system presenting inverse proportions of AFS10. The agroforestry systems were intercropped with sorghum or millet, pigeon pea and Massai grass. We collected disturbed and undisturbed soil samples at the layers of 0.00-0.10; 0.10-0.20; 0.20-0.40, 0.40-0.60 and 0.60-1.00 m for analysis of carbon (SOC), nitrogen (N), soil bulk density, and calculation of SOC and N stocks and C/N ratio, two years after the conversion of natural vegetation to the agricultural area (intercropping) and agroforestry system (AFS10 and AFS20). We applied principal component and cluster analysis to explore the data, and confidence interval to compare the means of accumulated SOC and N stocks up to 1 m soil depth. No differences exist for the properties analysed in superficial layers (0.00-0.10 and 0.10-0.20 m), regardless of land-use systems. AFS20 increase the SOC content and, consequently, SOC stock, in subsurface layers; on the other hand, intercropping increases N content and N stock. AFS20 presented higher accumulated SOC stocks up to 1.00 m (114.97 Mg ha-1). Agroforestry systems management is an alternative for increasing carbon sequestration under the conversion from Caatinga to agricultural areas.

Abstract The article aims to discuss the “Social Commitment” Project of Brazilian Psychology (PCSP) in the current conjuncture. The PCSP comes from the process of historical battles of Psychology in the 1970s, which also occurred in other areas, aiming for a knowledge committed to Brazilian and Latin American reality, and with its social transformation. Such assumptions demanded a theoretical-political movement with new methodological and ontological bases. Thus, we aim to discuss some of its limitations and potentialities: first, there is a historical presentation and contextualization of the PCSP and, later, a debate about its linkage to the scope of social policies. Anchored in the present situation, of intensifying barbarism, we conclude by signaling the need not only for a social commitment, but for an ethical-political project in Psychology that is oriented and contributes to another societal project

Resumen Este artículo tiene como objetivo debatir el Proyecto de “Compromiso Social” de la Psicología (PCSP) brasileña en el contexto actual. El PCSP proviene del proceso de luchas históricas de la Psicología a partir de los años 1970, lo que también ocurrió en otras áreas, anhelando un saber comprometido con la realidad brasileña y latinoamericana, y con su transformación social. Estos supuestos exigieron un movimiento teórico-político con nuevas bases metodológicas y ontológicas. De esta forma, pretendemos discurrir sobre algunas de sus limitaciones y potencialidades: primero, hay una presentación y contextualización histórica del PCSP para, posteriormente, debatir sobre su vinculación al ámbito de las políticas sociales. Anclados en la situación actual, de barbarie cada vez más intensa, concluimos que es necesario no solo un compromiso, sino un proyecto ético-político en Psicología que se oriente y contribuya a otro proyecto social.

Résumé L’article vise à discuter le Projet « d’Engagement Social » de la Psychologie brésilienne (PCSP) dans la conjoncture actuelle. Le PCSP vient du processus de luttes historiques de la psychologie des années 1970, ce qui a également eu lieu dans d’autres domaines, en visant une connaissance engagée dans la réalité brésilienne et latino-américaine et dans sa transformation sociale. Ces hypothèses ont exigé un mouvement théorique-politique avec de nouvelles bases méthodologiques et ontologiques. Ainsi, nous visons à discuter sur quelques de ses limitations et potentialités: premièrement, il y a une présentation historique et une contextualisation du PCSP et, plus tard, un débat sur son lien avec la portée des politiques sociales. Ancrés dans la conjoncture actuelle de l’intensification de la barbarie, nous concluons en signalant la nécessité non seulement d’un engagement social, mais d’un projet éthico-politique en Psychologie qui s’oriente et contribue à un autre projet de société.

BACKGROUND Chikungunya is a mosquito-borne virus that has been causing large outbreaks in the Americas since 2014. In Brazil, Asian-Caribbean (AC) and East-Central-South-African (ECSA) genotypes have been detected and lead to large outbreaks in several Brazilian states. In Rio Grande do Sul (RS), the southernmost state of Brazil, the first cases were reported in 2016. OBJECTIVES AND METHODS We employed genome sequencing and epidemiological investigation to characterise the Chikungunya fever (CHIKF) burden in RS between 2017-2021. FINDINGS We detected an increasing CHIKF burden linked to travel associated introductions and communitary transmission of distinct lineages of the ECSA genotype during this period. MAIN CONCLUSIONS Until 2020, CHIKV introductions were most travel associated and transmission was limited. Then, in 2021, the largest outbreak occurred in the state associated with the introduction of a new ECSA lineage. CHIKV outbreaks are likely to occur in the near future due to abundant competent vectors and a susceptible population, exposing more than 11 million inhabitants to an increasing infection risk.

ABSTRACT. This study was performed to investigate the effects of composted tannery sludge (CTS) on the physical properties of tropical sandy soil after seven years of CTS application. CTS was applied to a Fluvisol at five rates (0.0, 2.5, 5.0, 10.0, and 20.0 Mg ha-1) in experimental plots (sized 20 m2) with four replications. Water infiltration into the soil was determined in the field with the concentric-ring infiltrometer method. Bulk density, total porosity, macroporosity, and microporosity were determined in the soil samples. The permanent CTS application altered the physical properties of the soil and led to a decrease in bulk density. The total porosity, microporosity and macroporosity values in the CTS-applied soil ranged from 44.1-51.7, 34.6-39.4, and 9.1-12.8%, respectively. Water-infiltration rates were significantly influenced by CTS. The cumulative infiltrated water in the soil varied from 21.3-34.7 cm. The basic infiltration rate was lower in the unamended soil and increased with an increase in the rate of CTS application. This study confirmed that the physical soil parameters improved after the permanent CTS application. Therefore, this application may be a suitable strategy for improving physical soil properties over time.

ABSTRACT Objectives: Evaluate bone healing time, consolidation, and the complication rate between the minimally invasive plate osteosynthesis and open reduction with plate osteosynthesis in humeral diaphyseal fractures with an intact wedge (AO 12B2). Methods: A retrospective study was carried out between 2016 and 2020. The medical records and radiographs of 18 patients were analyzed, and data were collected regarding the time of consolidation, age, sex, plate size, number of screws, complications such as iatrogenic injury damage to the radial nerve, material failure, and postoperative infection. Results: No statistically significant differences were observed in the variables of age, sex, plate size, and number of screws used or in the RUSHU index (Radiographic Union Score for Humeral fractures). There were no postoperative infections, material failure, or need for reoperation, nor cases of secondary radial nerve injury. After one year, all patients had a consolidation index analyzed by RUSHU >11. Conclusion: both techniques showed similar results, with a high consolidation rate and low rates of complications or iatrogenic damage to the radial nerve. RESUMO Objetivos: Comparar o tempo de consolidação e o índice de complicações entre os métodos de osteossíntese com placa minimamente invasiva e estabilidade absoluta através da placa nas fraturas diafisárias do úmero com cunha intacta (AO 12B2). Métodos: Foi realizado um estudo retrospectivo entre os anos de 2016 e 2020. Foram analisados os prontuários e radiografias de 18 pacientes e coletados dados referentes a: tempo de consolidação, idade, sexo, tamanho da placa, número de parafusos, presença de complicações como lesão iatrogênica do nervo radial, falha do material e infecção pós operatória. Resultados: Não foram observadas diferenças estatisticamente significativas nas variáveis de idade, sexo, tamanho da placa e número de parafusos utilizados, ou no índice de RUSHU (Radiographic Union Score for Humeral fractures). Não houve casos de infecção pós-operatória, falha do material ou necessidade de reoperação, nem casos de lesão secundária do nervo radial. Após 1 ano todos os pacientes tiveram índice de consolidação analisado pelo RUSHU >11. Conclusão: Ambas as técnicas se mostraram com resultados similares, com alta taxa de consolidação e baixas taxas de complicações ou lesão iatrogênica do nervo radial.
