Abstract Plasticulture improves crop quality and yield through polymeric films, but their improper disposal harms the environment due to humidity and contamination. This study aimed to develop biodegradable mulch films using soybean and peanut hulls and poly (butylene-adipate-co-terephthalate) (PBAT). The residues were characterized by thermogravimetric analysis and mulch films were evaluated by water absorption, contact angle and mechanical properties. The thermal behavior of the residues indicated stability below 200ºC. The agro-waste improved hydrophobicity but increased the water absorption values of the films by up to 18.5x (PBAT/SH5 after 14 days). Micrographs obtained by scanning electron microscopy indicated an important distribution of residue particles and formation of agglomerates, leading to lower mechanical performance. The study found that agro-industrial residues in powder form can be added to the polymeric matrix to produce biodegradable mulch films through traditional processing techniques. This approach has the potential to contribute to a more sustainable production system.

Abstract Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a major cause of chronic kidney disease (CKD) and changes in lipoprotein. Literature data suggest that cholesterol associated with high-density lipoprotein (HDLc) plays a protective role against albuminuria and diabetic nephropathy. These factors are related with changes in serum apolipoproteins such Apo A-I. This work aims to evaluate the correlation of apolipoprotein A-I with renal function in diabetic outpatients. Samples were collected from 281 outpatients for analyses of glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c), serum creatinine (SCr), urea (BUN), cholesterol (TC), triglycerides (TG), HDL-cholesterol (HDLc) and estimation of glomerular filtration rate (eGFR). Urinary samples were obtained to assess urine albumin creatinine ratio (UACR). Triglyceride-glucose index (TyG) was calculated to estimate insulin resistance. The mean age was 61,5 ± 16,4 years. Most patients were female, Afro-Mestizo and over 50 years of age. Pearson's revealed negative correlation of creatinine with HDLc and Apo A-I. There was a correlation of eGFR with HbA1c, TG and HDLc. TyG presented a negative correlation with Apo A-I and HDLc. The highest quartiles of UACR presented the highest TyG and the lowest Apo A-I. In conclusion, Apo A-I indicated an association with insulin resistance and changes in renal function parameters, especially as a factor associated with the onset of albuminuria, with a better predictive potential than the HDLc.

ABSTRACT This article aims to evaluate social and health indicators of municipalities according to the rural-urban typology. This is an ecological study that used official publicly accessible data from the 853 municipalities in the state of Minas Gerais, Brazil. Descriptive and bivariate analysis were carried out using Poisson Regression and Kruskal-Wallis Test. 547 (64.12%) are rural municipalities. The highest average of the Municipal Human Development Index (MHDI) was observed among urban municipalities. The highest average coverage of the Family Health Strategy (FHS) was found among rural municipalities. In these municipalities, the best results were shown for the indicators of infant mortality, premature mortality and mortality from preventable causes, vaccine homogeneity and prevalence of malnutrition. The findings of this study show that greater FHS coverage is associated with the occurrence of better general living and health conditions in the populations served in rural municipalities. It is recommended that health managers encourage the consolidation of the FHS in communities with unfavorable socioeconomic and cultural contexts, such as remote rural locations and urban agglomerations, and the establishment of intersectoral actions with a positive impact on health.

RESUMO O presente artigo tem o objetivo de avaliar indicadores sociais e de saúde de municípios conforme a tipologia rural-urbano. Trata-se de estudo ecológico que utilizou dados oficiais de acesso público dos 853 municípios do estado de Minas Gerais, Brasil. Foram conduzidas análises descritivas e bivariadas através da Regressão de Poisson e Teste de Kruskal-Wallis. Do total de municípios, 547 (64,12%) são rurais. A maior média do Índice de Desenvolvimento Humano Municipal (IDH-M) foi observada entre os municípios urbanos. A maior média de cobertura da Estratégia Saúde da Família (ESF) foi verificada entre os municípios rurais, nos quais também foram demonstrados os melhores resultados para os indicadores de mortalidades infantil, prematura e por causas evitáveis, homogeneidade vacinal e prevalência de desnutrição. Os achados deste estudo evidenciam que uma maior cobertura da ESF está associada à ocorrência de melhores condições gerais de vida e de saúde das populações atendidas em municípios de tipologia rural. Recomenda-se aos gestores de saúde o fomento à consolidação da ESF em comunidades com contextos socioeconômicos e culturais desfavoráveis, como localidades rurais remotas e aglomerados urbanos, e o estabelecimento de ações intersetoriais com impacto positivo na saúde.

ABSTRACT Purpose: To analyze teleconsultation at a public ophthalmic teaching hospital during the COVID-19 pandemic in Brazil. Methods: Medical records of patients who requested ophthalmological teleconsultation between June 2020 and March 2021 were reviewed. The main outcomes included demographic data, eye disease symptoms, hypothesized diagnosis, and management. Moreover, the results of a satisfaction survey administered after the consultation were analyzed. Results: Medical records of a total of 161 patients were reviewed. The mean age was 45.98 ± 17.57 (8-90) years, and most were women (113, 70.20%). Only 57 (35.60%) of the patients had made previous follow-up visits to the hospital. The most frequent reason for consultation was the need for a new eyeglass prescription (73, 45.34%), followed by dry eye symptoms (16, 9.93%) and pterygium (13, 8.07%). Other reasons were the monitoring of previously diagnosed eye diseases, such as glaucoma, retinopathies, strabismus, and keratoconus. Regarding the satisfaction survey, 151 (93.78%) patients answered the online questionnaire. Most reported that they were satisfied with the teleconsultation (94.03%) and would participate in a future teleconsultation (90.06%). Conclusion: Teleconsultation could be widely used to assist patients in public ophthalmology healthcare and teaching hospitals. Even though new eyeglass prescriptions are a frequent reason for ophthalmological appointments, patients tend to be satisfied with teleconsultation, as it also provides guidance.

RESUMO Objetivo: Analisar a teleconsulta em um hospital público de ensino oftalmológico, durante o período da pandemia do COVID-19. Métodos: Foram revisados os registros médicos dos pacientes que solicitaram teleconsulta oftalmológica, no período de Junho de 2020 a Março de 2021. Os resultados incluem dados demográficos, sintomas de queixas oculares e hipóteses diagnósticas. Além disso, foram analisados dados da pesquisa de satisfação aplicada após cada teleconsulta. Resultados: Um total de 161 prontuários foram revisados. A idade média dos pacientes foi de 45.98 ± 17.57 (8 a 90) anos, a maioria mulheres, 113 (70,20%). Apenas 57 (35,60%) eram pacientes acompanhados no hospital previamente. A principal razão pela busca pela teleconsulta foi o erro refracional, 73 (45.43%), seguido de olho seco, 16 (9.93%), pterígio, 13 (8.07%). Outros motivos foram o acompanhamento de doenças prévias como glaucoma, retinopatias, miopia, estrabismo e ceratocone. Quanto a pesquisa de satisfação, 151(93,87%) pacientes responderam a pesquisa on-line. A maioria deles mostrou-se satisfeito com a teleconsulta (94.03%) e fariam uma nova teleconsulta (90.06%). Conclusão: A teleconsulta pode auxiliar a saúde pública em oftalmologia podendo ser utilizada em hospitais universitários. Embora o erro refracional tenha sido o motivo mais frequente nas consultas, os pacientes mostraram-se satisfeitos com essa modalidade de atendimento que serve como um serviço de orientação.

ABSTRACT The objective of this work is to discuss the association between intuition and mathematical reasoning, associating them through the prism of the Categories of Intuitive Reasoning and the Theory of Didactic Situations. A theoretical discussion is proposed, considering the influence of different forms of the manifestation of intuition in lear- ning in Mathematics. The methodology used to structure this work was the bibliographic research, through a content analysis, from works which somehow approach intuition and reasoning at different levels. As a result, a correlation is identified between the levels of reasoning proposed by Brousseau and Gibel and the categorization of intuition presented by Efraim Fischbein, seeking to expose convergences and/or similarities between the two theoretical frameworks. It is considered that intuition, as an ontological faculty and point of confluence between Didactics of Mathematics and Cognitive Psychology, through the theories discussed in this work, is a vast field to be explored with a potential to contribute to the work of the mathematics teacher.

Resumo Este trabalho tem como objetivo discorrer sobre a associação entre a intuição e o raciocínio matemático, associando-os pelo prisma das Categorias do Raciocí- nio Intuitivo e da Teoria das Situações Didáticas. Nesse ínterim, propomos uma discussão teórica considerando a influência de distintas formas de manifestação da intuição no aprendizado em Matemática. A metodologia utilizada para estruturar este trabalho foi a pesquisa bibliográfica, por meio de uma análise de conteúdo, a partir de obras que abordam de algum modo a intuição e o raciocínio em seus diferentes níveis. Como resultado, trazemos uma correlação entre os níveis de raciocínio propostos por Brousseau e Gibel e a categorização da intuição apresentada por Efraim Fischbein, buscando expor convergências e/ou similaridades entre os dois quadros teóricos. Consideramos que a intuição, enquanto faculdade ontológica e ponto de confluência entre a Didática da Matemática e à Psicologia Cognitiva, por meio das teorias elucidadas neste trabalho, é um vasto campo a ser explorado e tem potencial para agregar ao trabalho do professor de matemática.

Mientras tanto, proponemos una discusión teórica considerando la influencia de diferentes formas de manifestación de la intuición en el aprendizaje de las Matemáticas. La metodología utilizada para estructurar este trabajo fue la investigación bibliográfica, a través de un análisis de contenido, a partir de obras que de alguna manera abordan la intuición y el razonamiento en sus diferentes niveles. Como resultado, traemos una correlación en- tre los niveles de razonamiento propuestos por Brousseau y Gibel y la categorización de la intuición presentada por Efraim Fischbein, buscando exponer convergencias y/o similitudes entre los dos marcos teóricos. Creemos que la intuición, como facultad ontológica y punto de confluencia entre la Didáctica de las Matemáticas y la Psicología cognitiva, a través de las teorías dilucidadas en este trabajo, es un vasto campo por explorar y tiene el potencial de sumar al trabajo de los profesores de matemáticas.

ABSTRACT Nutritional management can be an efficient strategy to mitigate the effects of salinity on fruit production and quality. This study aimed to evaluate the production and quality of fruits of mini watermelon crop, Sugar Baby cultivar, grown in a protected environment, under salt stress and K+/Ca2+ ratios. The study was carried out in a greenhouse, using a randomized block design, 1 + 5 scheme, resulting in six treatments and four replications. Six nutrient solutions were employed, one using low-salinity water, with NaCl (0.5 dS m-1) and standard nutrient solution (S1, control treatment), and the others using salinized water at 5.0 dS m-1 (S2) and extra addition of K (S3 = 50% and S4 = 100%) and Ca (S5 = 50% and S6 = 100%). The production (fruit production, longitudinal and transverse diameter of fruit, rind thickness, pulp firmness) and postharvest quality (soluble solids, vitamin C, titratable acidity, and maturation index), in addition to the variables related to the color of the pulp (lightness, chroma index, and Hue angle) were evaluated. The addition of NaCl reduced fruit production, longitudinal, and transverse diameter of fruit, rind thickness, and vitamin C content. Among saline nutrient solutions, extra addition of 50% K (S3) attenuates the deleterious effects of salt stress on the production variables and vitamin C content. Under salt stress, extra addition of 50% K (S3) and 100% Ca (S6) intensifies the red color of the pulp.

RESUMO O manejo nutricional pode ser uma estratégia eficiente para mitigar os efeitos da salinidade na produção e qualidade de frutos. O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar a produção e qualidade de frutos de mini melancia, cultivar Sugar Baby, cultivado em ambiente protegido, sob estresse salino e relações K+/Ca2+. O estudo foi realizado em casa de vegetação, em delineamento de blocos casualizados, em esquema 1 + 5, resultando em seis tratamentos e quatro repetições. Foram aplicadas seis soluções nutritivas, uma utilizando água de baixa salinidade (0,5 dS m-1) e solução nutritiva padrão (S1, tratamento controle) e as demais utilizando água salinizada com NaCl, a 5,0 dS m-1 (S2) e adição extra de K (S3 = 50% e S4 = 100%) e Ca (S5 = 50% e S6 = 100%). Foram avaliadas as variáveis de produção (produção de frutos, diâmetro longitudinal do fruto, diâmetro transversal do fruto, espessura da casca, firmeza da polpa) e qualidade pós-colheita (sólidos solúveis, vitamina C, acidez titulável e índice de maturação), além das variáveis referentes a cor da polpa (luminosidade, croma e ângulo de Hue). A adição de NaCl reduziu a produção de frutos, diâmetro longitudinal dos frutos, diâmetro transversal dos frutos, espessura da casca e vitamina C. Entre as soluções nutritivas salinas, a adição extra de K a 50% (S3) atenua os efeitos deletérios do estresse salino nas variáveis de produção e o teor de vitamina C. Sob estresse salino, a adição extra de K em 50% (S3) e Ca em 100% (S6) intensifica a coloração vermelha da polpa.

Abstract Background Cerebral autosomal dominant arteriopathy with subcortical infarcts and leukoencephalopathy (CADASIL) is a genetic cause of ischemic stroke and the most common form of non-atherosclerotic stroke. Despite being the most prevalent vascular hereditary disease, clinical data regarding the Brazilian population are scarce. Considering that the Brazilian population has one of the most heterogeneous genetic constitutions in the world, knowledge about genetic and epidemiological profiles is mandatory. The present study aimed to elucidate the epidemiological and clinical features of CADASIL in Brazil. Methods We performed a case series study comprising 6 rehabilitation hospitals in Brazil and reported the clinical and epidemiological data from the medical records of patients admitted from 2002 to 2019 with genetic confirmation. Results We enrolled 26 (16 female) patients in whom mutations in exons 4 and 19 were the most common. The mean age at the onset of the disease was of 45 years. Ischemic stroke was the first cardinal symptom in 19 patients. Cognitive impairment, dementia, and psychiatric manifestations were detected in 17, 6, and 16 patients respectively. In total, 8 patients had recurrent migraines, with aura in 6 (75%) of them. White matter hyperintensities in the temporal lobe and the external capsule were found in 20 (91%) and 15 patients (68%) respectively. The median Fazekas score was of 2. Lacunar infarcts, microbleeds, and larger hemorrhages were observed in 18 (82%), 9, and 2 patients respectively. Conclusion The present is the most extensive series of Brazilian CADASIL patients published to date, and we have reported the first case of microbleeds in the spinal cord of a CADASIL patient. Most of our clinical and epidemiological data are in accordance with European cohorts, except for microbleeds and hemorrhagic strokes, for which rates fall in between those of European and Asian cohorts.

Resumo Antecedentes Arteriopatia cerebral autossômica dominante com enfartes subcorticais e leucoencefalopatia (Cerebral Autosomal Dominant Arteriopathy with Subcortical Infarcts and Leukoencephalopathy, CADASIL, em inglês) é uma causa genética de acidente vascular cerebral (AVC) isquêmico e a forma mais comum de acidente vascular cerebral não aterosclerótico. Apesar de ser a doença vascular hereditária mais prevalente que há, os dados clínicos para a população brasileira são escassos. Considerando que o Brasil tem uma das constituições genéticas mais heterogêneas do mundo, o conhecimento sobre perfis genéticos e epidemiológicos é obrigatório. Este estudo teve como objetivo elucidar as características clínicas e epidemiológicas de pacientes com CADASIL no Brasil. Métodos Apresentamos uma série de casos envolvendo 6 hospitais de reabilitação no Brasil, e relatamos dados clínicos e epidemiológicos de prontuários de pacientes admitidos entre 2002 e 2019 com confirmação genética. Resultados incluímos 26 pacientes (16 mulheres) em que as mutações nos éxons 4 e 19 eram as mais comuns. A idade média de início da doença foi de 45 anos. O AVC isquêmico foi o primeiro sintoma cardinal em 19 pacientes. Comprometimento cognitivo, demência e manifestações psiquiátricas foram detectados em 17, seis e 16 pacientes, respectivamente. Ao todo, 8 pacientes apresentavam enxaqueca, sendo com aura em 6 (75%) pacientes. Hiperintensidades de substância branca no polo temporal e na cápsula externa foram encontradas em 20 (91%) e 15 pacientes (68%), respectivamente. A pontuação mediana na escala de Fazekas foi de 2. Infartos lacunares, microssangramentos e macro-hemorragias foram observadas em 18 (82%), 9 (41%) e 2 (9%) pacientes, respectivamente. Conclusão O presente estudo representa a mais extensa série de pacientes brasileiros com CADASIL publicada até o momento, e relatamos o primeiro caso de micro-hemorragia na medula espinhal de um paciente com CADASIL. A maior parte dos nossos dados clínicos e epidemiológicos está de acordo com as coortes europeias, exceto para micro-hemorragias e macro-hemorragias, para as quais as taxas se enquadram entre as das coortes europeias e asiáticas.

Abstract Objective: This research sought to understand how social distancing during the COVID-19 pandemic impacted physical activity levels and mental well-being. Methods: The study included 511 people from 19 Uruguayan states who participated in the study, 69.1% of whom were female and aged between 18 and 24 (43.4%). Participants answered an online questionnaire containing questions about fatigue, PA level before and after the pandemic onset, Warwick-Edinburgh Mental Well-Being Scale, time spent in front of screens and number of people they kept in touch with. The information was kept anonymous and confidential, with no questions that could identify the participants. The survey was conducted during the period of social distancing, remaining available for one month and 12 days. Results: The results showed an increase in physical inactivity and a negative impact on the mental well-being of those who became inactive during the distancing period. Conclusion: In sum, distancing measures caused harm to the physical and mental health of the population, requiring the implementation of measures to encourage PA practice so that people can re-equip and enhance their integral health care.

Resumo Objetivo: A pesquisa buscou compreender como o distanciamento social durante a pandemia COVID-19 impactou os níveis de atividade física e o bem-estar mental. Método: Participaram do estudo 511 pessoas dos 19 estados uruguaios, sendo 69,1% do sexo feminino e com faixa etária entre 18 e 24 anos (43,4%). Os participantes responderam questionário online, contendo questões sobre fadiga, nível de AF antes e após o início da pandemia, escala de Bem-estar Mental Warwick-Edimburgo, tempo que passa em frente as telas e número de pessoas que mantém contato. As informações foram mantidas anônimas e em sigilo, não constando perguntas que pudessem identificar os participantes. Resultados: A aplicação da pesquisa foi durante o período de distanciamento social, permanecendo disponível por um mês e 12 dias. Os resultados mostraram aumento da inatividade física e impacto negativo no bem-estar mental daqueles que se tornaram inativos durante o distanciamento. Conclusão: Em suma, as medidas de distanciamento apresentam prejuízos a saúde física e mental da população, sendo necessária a implementação de medidas de incentivo a prática de AF para que as pessoas possam retomar e aprimorar seus cuidados integrais com a saúde.

ABSTRACT The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of adding ascorbic acid (AA) to the vitrification medium of bovine preantral follicles (PFs) subjected previously to cooling at 4 °C for 4 h or 24 h. Ovaries were collected from Nelore heifers at 14 months of age. In the laboratory, ovarian fragments were removed from the cortical region and distributed to fragments as fresh control (C0h), and fragments to cooling at 4 ºC for 4 and 24 hours in TCM-199 plus HEPES and antibiotics. Of the cooled fragments, two were fixed as controls for each cooling time (C4h, C24h), and the remaining fragments were distributed in four vitrification treatments, using the TCM-199 medium associated with ethylene glycol and dimethyl sulfoxide (V), sucrose (VSUC) or ascorbic acid (VAA), and the treatment with ethylene glycol, dimethyl sulfoxide, sucrose and AA (VSUC+AA). After 72 h, fragments were warmed and fixed for histological analysis and mechanical follicular isolation. No difference (p>0.05) between C0h and C4h for morphologically normal PFs was detected (99.3 and 96.0%, respectively). Vitrification reduced the morphological integrity and follicular viability in all treatments compared to C0h; nevertheless, VAA treatment maintained the follicular viability like C24h (p>0.05). It is concluded that bovine PFs were conserved efficiently at 4 °C during 4 h, and the addition of ascorbic acid to the vitrification medium improved survival rates and kept the morphological integrity of the follicles.

RESUMEN El objetivo del estudio fue evaluar el efecto de la adición de ácido ascórbico (AA) al medio de vitrificación de folículos preantrales (FPs) bovinos previamente enfriados a 4 °C durante 4 o 24 h. Se recolectaron ovarios de novillas Nelore a los 14 meses de edad. En el laboratorio se extrajeron fragmentos de ovario de la región cortical y se distribuyeron a fragmentos para control fresco (C0h), y fragmentos para refrigeración a 4 ºC por 4 y 24 horas en TCM-199 más HEPES y antibióticos. De los fragmentos enfriados, dos se fijaron como controles para cada tiempo de enfriamiento (C4h, C24h), y los restantes se distribuyeron en cuatro tratamientos de vitrificación, utilizando el medio TCM-199 asociado con etilenglicol y dimetilsulfóxido (V), sacarosa (VSUC) o ácido ascórbico (VAA), y el tratamiento con etilenglicol, dimetilsulfóxido, sacarosa y AA (VSUC+AA). Después de72h, los fragmentos se calentaron y fijaron para el análisis histológico y el aislamiento folicular mecánico. No se detectó diferencia (p>0.05) entre C0h y C4h para FPs morfológicamente normales (99.3 y96.0%, respectivamente). La vitrificación redujo la integridad morfológica y la viabilidad folicular en todos los tratamientos en comparación con C0h; sin embargo, el tratamiento VAA mantuvo la viabilidad folicular similar a C24h (p>0.05). Se concluye que los FAs bovinos se conservaron eficientemente a 4 °C durante 4 h, y la adición de ácido ascórbico al medio de vitrificación mejoró las tasas de supervivencia y mantuvo la integridad morfológica folicular.

Abstract Objective: The objective of this study was to analyze masticatory characteristics in children from 7 to 10 years, and to compare these characteristics among normal weight, overweight and obese children. Methods: This is a cross-sectional study, conducted in northeast Brazil, with a sample of 160 children, aged 7 to 10 years. The authors evaluated: nutritional and dental status; food intake; masticatory parameters and orofacial myofunctional characteristics. The children were divided according to nutritional status into normal weight (n = 101), overweight (n = 33) and obesity (n = 26) groups. Results: The results showed that Obese children had a larger bite size (g) (median = 6.0, Q1-Q3 = 4.0-9.0, p = 0.049) and performed fewer masticatory sequences (median = 3.0, Q1-Q3 = 2.0-3.2, p = 0.024) than children with normal weight (median = 5.0, Q1-Q3 = 4.0-7.0; median = 4.0, Q1-Q3 = 3.0-5.0). Furthermore, obese children finished feeding in a shorter time (s) (median = 62.5, Q1-Q3 = 50.5-70.0, p = 0.039) than normal weight children (median = 66.0, Q1-Q3 = 56.5-78.0) and overweight children (median = 66.0, Q1-Q3 = 58.0-81.5). Conclusions: The present results suggest that obese children present changes in mastication, evidenced by larger bite-size, performing fewer masticatory sequences and rapid mastication, which may contribute to increased food consumption and the development of excess weight.

ABSTRACT. The objective was to evaluate fertility, cyclicality behavior, and sexual performance of Pantaneiro sheep throughout the year’s photoperiods in Mato Grosso do Sul - Brazil. Two experiments were conducted. In experiment one, the ewes used aged between 2 and 4 years, distributed in three homogeneous groups of 54 animals and subjected to reproductive evaluation in three different predefined luminosity periods, consisting of autumn (11h 45 min.), spring (12h 30 min.), and summer (12h 55 min.). The characteristics studied were body weight (BW), body condition score (BCC), estrus distribution (EST), percentage of pregnant females per cycle (%P), plasma progesterone (PP), and fertility (F) in the three predefined seasons. The mating system used was controlled natural nocturnal and lasted for 45 days. Experiment two, evaluated the ram sexual activity. The males (10) were individually exposed to four ovariectomized ewes. The ewes cycled during evaluated seasons, and the highest fertility was observed in animals with BCC >2.75. The PP concentration differed among periods, and higher conception rates (F) were observed in autumn and spring. The rams (75%) had a medium of sexual performance when they performed more than two ejaculations in 20 min throughout the seasons. Pantaneiro sheep of both genders had a similar fertility index, with early and constant activity throughout the year, displaying no photoperiodism or seasonality.

Resumo O objetivo deste artigo é construir e validar um instrumento do tipo instrumento CAP (conhecimento, atitude e prática) de cuidadores, acompanhados pela Estratégia Saúde da Família, para promoção da saúde bucal de crianças até 36 meses. Estudo metodológico realizado em três etapas: revisão integrativa, elaboração da versão inicial e validação de conteúdo por 29 juízes. O instrumento foi validado quanto ao conteúdo e aparência. Foram calculados o Índice de Validade de Conteúdo (IVC) e os coeficientes FINN e Gwe-AC1 para avaliação da concordância entre juízes. Os valores do IVC global do instrumento de 39 itens foram: IVC (Clareza) igual a 0,91 e IVC (Relevância) igual a 0,95. A versão final foi obtida mediante 19 questões (conhecimento), 10 (atitude) e 10 (prática), envolvendo os temas: cárie, dieta, higiene bucal, flúor, amamentação, bicos artificiais, dentes de leite e necessidade de levar o bebê ao dentista. O instrumento produzido poderá ser utilizado por apresentar potencial de utilização a depender da avaliação mais global de suas propriedades psicométrica.

Abstract The objective of this article is to develop and validate a KAP (knowledge, attitude, and practice) instrument for caregivers of children up to 36 months of age monitored by the Family Health Strategy. This methodological study was conducted in three stages: an integrative review, preparation of the initial version, and content validation by 29 judges. The instrument was validated for content and appearance. The Content Validity Index (CVI) and the FINN and Gwe-AC1 coefficients were calculated to assess inter-judge agreement. The overall CVI values of the 39-item instrument were: Clarity (0.91) and Relevance (0.95). The final version was obtained through 19 knowledge, 10 attitude, and 10 practice questions on caries, diet, oral hygiene, fluoride, breastfeeding, artificial feeding, milk teeth, and the need to take the baby to the dentist. The instrument produced can be used because it has the potential for use depending on the more global assessment of its psychometric properties.

Abstract BACKGROUND: The task of caring can arise suddenly without guidance or support, resulting in psychological tension and health impairment, which can culminate in the development of frailty. OBJECTIVE: To analyze the relationship between frailty and sociodemographic and health aspects related to the care context of older caregivers. DESIGN AND SETTING: A cross-sectional study was conducted on 65 older caregivers registered in family health units in the interior of the state of São Paulo. METHODS: The participants were interviewed individually using the following instruments: a characterization questionnaire, Fried’s frailty phenotype, Zarit Burden’s Interview, Mini-Mental State Examination, Geriatric Depression Scale, Katz Index, and Lawton Scale. In addition, the following statistical tests were applied: Pearson’s chi-squared test, Fisher’s exact test, and Mann–Whitney test. A significance level of 5% was considered to be statistically significant. RESULTS: Women who took care of their spouses predominated without prior training or the help of other people. Most of the patients were pre-frail (72.3%). Frailty was significantly related to marital status (P = 0.016), depressive symptoms (P = 0.029), cognitive decline (P = 0.029), the degree of kinship (P = 0.015), and burden (P = 0.004). CONCLUSION: Older caregivers without a partner, with severe depressive symptoms and cognitive changes, who cared for their parents, and had higher levels of burden, presented a higher proportion of frailty.

ABSTRACT Objective: To analyze patent records aimed at preventing and signaling falls in a Brazilian database. Method: Electronic documentary research carried out in the database of the Instituto Nacional da Propriedade Industrial using the word “fall” in the search resource. Patent records related to the prevention and signaling of falls at home and in care environment applied from 2000 to 2021 were included. Tabulated data were evaluated using absolute/relative frequencies. Results: From the 45 patents, 91% were published starting from 2011, with an average of 1214 days between application and publication, 11% of applicants were from public universities and 9% of the inventors were nurses, physician or physical therapists. Conclusion: There was a delay in the publication of the patents and small participation of researchers linked to the academic area and health professionals, revealing the need to equip universities and health services in order to guarantee the development of innovations.

RESUMEN Objetivo: Analizar los registros de patentes destinados a la prevención y señalización de caídas en una base de datos brasileña. Método: Búsqueda documental electrónica realizada en la base de datos del Instituto Nacional de Propiedade Industrial utilizando la palabra “caída” en el buscador. Se incluyeron registros de patentes relacionadas con la prevención y señalización de caídas en el hogar y en el ambiente asistencial presentadas desde 2000 hasta 2021. Los datos tabulados se evaluaron mediante frecuencias absolutas/relativas. Resultados: De las 45 patentes, el 91% fueron publicadas a partir de 2011, con un promedio de 1214 días entre presentación y publicación, el 11% de los solicitantes estaban vinculados a universidades públicas y el 9% de los inventores eran enfermeros, médicos o fisioterapeutas. Conclusión: Hubo retraso en la publicación de patentes y poca participación de investigadores vinculados al área académica y profesionales de la salud, revelando la necesidad de equipar universidades y servicios de salud para garantizar el desarrollo de innovaciones.

Método: Pesquisa documental eletrônica realizada na base de dados do Instituto Nacional da Propriedade Industrial utilizando-se a palavra “queda” no recurso de busca. Foram incluídos registros de patentes relacionados à prevenção e sinalização de quedas em domicílio e ambiente de cuidado, depositados no período de 2000 a 2021. Os dados tabulados foram avaliados por meio de frequências absolutas/relativas. Resultados: Das 45 patentes, 91% foram publicadas a partir de 2011, com média de 1214 dias entre depósito e publicação, 11% dos depositantes eram vinculados a universidades públicas e 9% dos inventores eram enfermeiros, médico ou fisioterapeuta. Conclusão: Observou-se morosidade na publicação das patentes e pequena participação de pesquisadores vinculados à área acadêmica e profissionais da saúde, revelando necessidade de instrumentalizar universidades e serviços de saúde a fim de garantir o desenvolvimento de inovações.
