RESUMEN: En los últimos años se han incrementado las publicaciones específicas sobre escuela rural, una temática relegada a segundo plano. El propósito del estudio ha sido analizar y describir la producción científica en Iberoamérica relacionada con la escuela rural en el periodo 2000 al 2020. Mediante un diseño metodológico de corte descriptivo, se lleva a cabo un estudio bibliométrico y temático de artículos indexados en las bases de datos con mayor repercusión de idioma español, organizando el proceso en dos fases: 1) búsqueda inicial con descriptores y 2) análisis según criterios y variables establecidas. Los resultados muestran que la tipología documental más frecuente es el artículo, con una tasa de crecimiento del 500% en los últimos 20 años, procediendo en su mayoría de instituciones universitarias. Las conclusiones indican que es una temática con escasa producción científica, aunque con un aumento considerable, siendo la mayoría de investigaciones de tipo cualitativo.

ABSTRACT: In recent years, there has been an increase in the number of specific publications on rural schools, a subject that has been relegated to the background. The purpose of this study was to analyse and describe the scientific production in Ibero-America related to rural schools in the period 2000 to 2020. Using a descriptive methodological design, a bibliometric and thematic study of articles indexed in the databases with the greatest impact in Spanish was carried out, organising the process in two phases: 1) initial search with descriptors and 2) analysis according to established criteria and variables. The results show that the most frequent documentary typology is the article, with a growth rate of 500% in the last 20 years, coming mostly from universities. The conclusions indicate that this is a subject area with little scientific production, although with a considerable increase.

ABSTRACT BACKGROUND: The intensity of the thromboprophylaxis needed as a potential factor for preventing inpatient mortality due to coronavirus disease-19 (COVID-19) remains unclear. OBJECTIVE: To explore the association between anticoagulation intensity and COVID-19 survival. DESIGN AND SETTING: Retrospective observational study in a tertiary-level hospital in Spain. METHODS: Low-molecular-weight heparin (LMWH) status was ascertained based on prescription at admission. To control for immortal time bias, anticoagulant use was analyzed as a time-dependent variable. RESULTS: 690 patients were included (median age, 72 years). LMWH was administered to 615 patients, starting from hospital admission (89.1%). 410 (66.7%) received prophylactic-dose LMWH; 120 (19.5%), therapeutic-dose LMWH; and another 85 (13.8%) who presented respiratory failure, high D-dimer levels (> 3 mg/l) and non-worsening of inflammation markers received prophylaxis of intermediate-dose LMWH. The overall inpatient-mortality rate was 38.5%. The anticoagulant nonuser group presented higher mortality risk than each of the following groups: any LMWH users (HR 2.1; 95% CI: 1.40-3.15); the prophylactic-dose heparin group (HR 2.39; 95% CI, 1.57-3.64); and the users of heparin dose according to biomarkers (HR 6.52; 95% CI, 2.95-14.41). 3.4% of the patients experienced major hemorrhage. 2.8% of the patients developed an episode of thromboembolism. CONCLUSIONS: This observational study showed that LMWH administered at the time of admission was associated with lower mortality among unselected adult COVID-19 inpatients. The magnitude of the benefit may have been greatest for the intermediate-dose subgroup. Randomized controlled trials to assess the benefit of heparin within different therapeutic regimes for COVID-19 patients are required.

Abstract Grape pomace (GP) and pecan shell (PS) are agro-industrial by-products rich in healthy bioactives, mainly phenolic compounds (PC) and dietary fiber (DF). Raw GP and PS were chemically characterized, and the adsorption isotherms of their PC-insoluble DF (IDF) complexes were evaluated. GP and PS statistically differed (p < 0.05) in chemical and physicochemical properties. Total PC, total flavonoids, and IDF were higher in GP. Thirteen and eight PC were identified in GP and PS by HPLC-MS/MS chromatography, finding isoquercetin and type B dimer and trimer procyanidins as the most abundant compounds. PC-IDF (phenolic compounds-insoluble dietary fiber) adsorption isotherms were determined by both spectroscopic (Freundlich) and HPLC-MS/MS (Freundlich/Langmuir) techniques, observing that PS IDF presented higher PC adsorption at all tested concentrations. Epicatechin, isoquercetin, and quercetin were the main identified PC in both by-products, and were able to fit to both Langmuir and Freundlich isotherm by HPLC-MS/MS.

RESUMEN En México se cultivan cerca de 600 mil hectáreas de cítricos, de los cuales, el cultivo de limón Persa representa el 19%, con un valor cercano a 3 mil 800 millones de pesos. Veracruz, Tabasco y Oaxaca son los tres principales productores a nivel nacional; sin embargo, esta producción se mantiene en riesgo por las pérdidas económicas que genera la enfermedad Huanglongbing y su vector el Psílido Asiático de los Cítricos Diaphorina citri (Kuwayama, 1907). En Tabasco, el patógeno y vector se detectaron desde el 2012 y 2005, respectivamente. Así, a cinco años del manejo mediante las Áreas Regionales de Control (ARCOs), es imperativo conocer la fluctuación poblacional de D. citri, por lo que el presente estudio tuvo como objetivo conocer la fluctuación espacio-temporal de Diaphorina citri en el ARCOs de la zona citrícola de Huimanguillo, Tabasco, y determinar los periodos de mayor densidad poblacional y de riesgo de dispersión del HLB. Se analizó la base de datos de la captura catorcenal de adultos en 2,820 trampas pegajosas amarillas en 141 sitios del monitoreo de D. citri de marzo a diciembre del 2019, realizado en la campaña contra plagas reglamentadas de los cítricos. Con la base de datos se generaron mapas geoestadísticos del promedio de D. citri por trampas y se determinó el patrón de dispersión del adulto mediante el cálculo de tres índices de agregación, además de su relación con las variables ambientales de temperaturas y precipitación mensuales. Se observó que D. citri está presente durante todo el periodo de estudio variando su densidad de manera mensual, las densidades poblacionales más altas se presentaron en el periodo de junio a octubre, con tendencia de mayor abundancia hacia la parte noroeste de la zona citrícola, presentando un patrón de distribución en agregados y del 20 al 30% de los sitios evaluados rebasan el umbral de intervención regional de un adulto de D. citri por trampa.

ABSTRACT In Mexico, about 600 thousand hectares are cultivated with citrus fruits, of which, Persian lime represents 19%, with a value close to 3.8 billion pesos. Veracruz, Tabasco, and Oaxaca are the three main producers nationwide; however, this production remains at risk due to the economic losses generated by the Huanglongbing disease and its vector, the Asian Citrus Psyllid Diaphorina citri (Kuwayama, 1907). In Tabasco, the pathogen and vector were detected since 2012 and 2005, respectively. Thus, after five years management through the Regional Control Areas (ARCOs), it is imperative to know the population fluctuation of D. citri, so the objective of the present study was to know the space-time fluctuation of Diaphorina citri in the ARCOs of the citrus zone of Huimanguillo, Tabasco, and to determine the periods of greatest population density and risk of HLB spreading. The fortnight adult-capture database from 2,820 yellow sticky traps in 141 D. citri monitoring sites from March to December 2019 was analyzed, carried out in the campaign against regulated pests of citrus fruits. With the database, geostatistical maps of the average D. citri per trap were generated and the dispersion pattern of the adults was determined by calculating three aggregation indices, as well as their relationship with the environmental variables of temperature and monthly precipitation. Diaphorina citri was observed to be present throughout the study period varying in density on a monthly basis, the highest population densities occurred in the period from June to October, with a trend of greater abundance towards the northwest part of the citrus zone, presenting a distribution pattern in aggregates and 20 to 30% of the evaluated sites exceed the regional intervention threshold of one adult D. citri per trap.

Resumen Introducción: debido a la emergencia del coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 desde diciembre del 2019, se ha generado un gran volumen de producción científica, en algún caso incierta o controvertida especialmente en el manejo farmacológico de los pacientes con esta infección; por lo tanto, se considera relevante buscar alternativas metodológicas para realizar su síntesis rigurosa, sistemática y de calidad, pero con menor tiempo de ejecución y menor costo. Objetivo: presentar la evidencia disponible respecto al manejo farmacológico de personas con sospecha o diagnóstico de infección respiratoria por SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) utilizando el método de revisiones sistemáticas rápidas (RS-R) en medicamentos poten- cialmente eficaces para su manejo. Metodología: se realizó una búsqueda sistemática y estructurada en Medline, Embase, Scopus, Cochrane Library, Clinical trials y Google Scholar en inglés. Los estudios incluidos fueron guías de práctica clínica, consensos, revisiones sistemáticas, metaanálisis, ensayos clínicos y otros estudios primarios. La búsqueda y extracción de datos se realizó por múltiples revisores, pero ninguna fue pareada. Resultados: dieciseis preguntas de interés clínico fueron resueltas, relacionadas con el uso en COVID-19 de lopinavir/ ritonavir, nelfinavir, oseltamivir, remdesivir, ribavirina, teicoplanina, umifenovir, favipiravir, tocilizumab, ivermectina y plasma convaleciente; también se evaluó el uso de medicamentos de soporte e incluidos en el manejo como la dexametasona, así como el uso concomitante de medicamentos que generaron dudas como son los AINES, los IECA y los ARA II. Conclusiones: los resúmenes de evidencia se muestran dentro del escenario de la pandemia como una buena alternativa metodológica para ofrecer información de calidad a corto plazo para los tomadores de decisiones.

Abstract Introduction: Due to the emergence of the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus since December 2019, a large volume of scientific production has been generated, in some cases uncertain or controversial, especially in the pharmacological management of patients with this infection; therefore, it is considered a relevant search for methodological alternatives to carry out its rigorous, systematic and quality synthesis, but with less execution time and lower cost. Objective: To present the available evidence regarding the pharmacological management of people with suspected or diagnosed respiratory SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) using the method of rapid systematic reviews (RS-R) in potentially effective drugs for their management. Methodology: A systematic and structured search was conducted in Medline, Embase, Scopus, Cochrane Library, Clinical trials and Google Scholar in English. Studies included clinical practice guidelines, consensus, systematic reviews, meta-analyses, clinical trials, and other primary studies. Data search and extraction were performed by multiple reviewers, but none were paired. Results: Sixteen questions of clinical interest were resolved, related to the use in COVID-19 of lopinavir/ritonavir, nelfinavir, oseltamivir, remdesivir, ribavirin, teicoplanin, umifenovir, favipiravir, tocilizumab, ivermectin, convalescent plasma; the use of support management drugs such as dexamethasone were also evaluated, as well as the concomitant use of drugs that generated doubts, such as NSAIDs, ACEis, and ARA IIs. Conclusions: Summaries of evidence are within the pandemic scenario as a good methodological alternative to offer quality information in the short term for decision-makers.

ABSTRACT. This research study is focused on the lipid requirements of Petenia splendida (0.65 ± 0.19 g) juveniles. Fish were fed with trout commercial diet (Silver Cup™ - 45% protein and 16% lipids), as control diet - CD (which is usually used to feed this species at commercial scale), and four isoproteic (45% crude protein) diet formulated with different lipid levels (5, 10, 15 and 20%). Diets were administered for 60 days by triplicate per treatment. Our results showed that fish fed with 10, 15 and 20% lipid levels were significantly higher (P < 0.05) in average weight and total length. Same treatments were significantly lower (P < 0.05) in terms of FCR compared to those shown in 5% and CD. However, fish fed 20% lipid level, showed a significant decrease in WG and a significant (P < 0.05) increase in FCR compared to those shown in 15% lipid level. Fish fed with 15% showed the highest weight gain and the lowest FCR compared with the rest of the treatments. Lipid efficiency ratio (LER) showed significant (P < 0.05) differences among experimental groups. Compared to other diets containing lipid levels (5, 10, and 20%) fish fed 15% diet recorded the lowest protein and lipid content in whole body. Additionally, based on second order polynomial regression analysis of WG, it was demonstrated that 16.2% lipid provides an optimal growth for P. splendida.

ABSTRACT Tropical gar (Atractosteus tropicus) is freshwater and estuarine fish, inhabiting the Earth since the Mesozoic era and undergoing limited physiological variation ever since. Besides its recognized cultural and scientific relevance, the species has seen remarkable growth in its economic impact due to pisciculture. In this study, we present the first report of the whole taxonomic composition of microbial communities in gut contents in juveniles and adults of A. tropicus, by sex and origin (wild and cultivated). For this study, 508 genera were identified, with the most and least abundant being Cetobacterium and Paludibacter, respectively. Fusobacteria, Proteobacteria, Firmicutes, and Bacteroidetes phyla are the core gut microbiome of A. tropicus juvenile and adult by sex and origin. Deinococcus-Thermus phylum sequence was only identified in wild-type males. In the phylogenetic trees reconstruction Lactococcus lactis strains CAU929 and CAU6600, Cp6 and CAU9951, Cetobacterium strain H69, Aeromonas hydrophila strain P5 and WR-5-3-2, Aeromonas sobria strain CP DC28 and Aeromonas hydrophila were identified, some of them with probiotic potential within the three dominant phyla in core gut microbiome in A. tropicus adults, especially in wild-type organisms. Myroides genus was recognized in microbiota gut of the cultivated juvenile A. tropicus. Nevertheless, Alpha diversity indicated that the highest gut microbiota abundance and richness is found in cultivated juvenile and wild-type adult A. tropicus female, rather than adult wild-type males and the least gut microbiota abundance and richness is found in a cultivated adult of A. tropicus for both sexes.

Resumen Después de la cosecha del fruto chirimoya, los árboles liberan enormes cantidades de hojas, las cuales son quemadas por los agricultores. Este trabajo muestra que las hojas pueden ser usadas para nuestro beneficio como antioxidante. Se determinaron los compuestos fenólicos (CF) y la actividad antioxidante (AA) de los extractos de la hoja seca de Annona cherimola Mill en etanol al 70% v/v, agua a 80 °C, y agua subcrítica (AS) a 110, 120 y 130 °C, siguiendo un diseño factorial con el programa Minitab. Los CF se cuantificaron con la metodología de Folin Ciocalteu y la AA con el 2,2-difenil-1-picrilhidrazilo (DPPH) y con el poder antioxidante reductor del hierro (FRAP). Los resultados indicaron que el tipo de solvente y el tiempo de extracción presentaron un efecto significativo en el contenido de CF y AA de los extractos. Se concluyó que el extracto de hoja de chirimoya es un potencial antioxidante. El extracto de AS a 130 °C presentó el mayor contenido de CF (5,6 g EAG/100 g de hoja seca) y el extracto etanólico presentó mayor AA (0,86 mg equivalente trolox/mg extracto seco; IC50=0,020 mg de extracto seco/mL de extracto de hoja seca y FRAP de 1710,14 μmol equivalente trolox /g de hoja seca) y los extractos obtenidos con AS a menor temperatura presentaron mayores valores de AA.

Abstract After harvesting cherimoya fruit, the trees release huge amounts of leaves, which are burned by farmers. This work shows that the leaves can be used as a source of antioxidants. Total phenolic compounds (TPC) and antioxidant activity (AA) of extracts of the dry leaf of Annona cherimola Mill in 70% v/v ethanol, water at 80 °C, subcritical water (SW) at 110 °C, 120 °C and 130 °C were determined, following a factorial design with the Minitab program. The TPC was quantified with the Folin Ciocalteu methodology, and the AA with 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrilhidrazil (DPPH) and Ferric Reducing Antioxidant Power (FRAP). Results indicate that the type of solvent and the extraction time had a significant effect on the TPC and AA of the extracts. Extracts of cherimoya leaves were found to be a potential antioxidant. The extract of SW at 130 °C presented the highest content of TPC (5.6 g EAG/100 g dry leaves) and the ethanolic extract had the highest AA (0.86 mg trolox equivalent/mg dry extract, IC50 = 0.020 mg dry extract/mL extract of dry leaves and FRAP of 1710.14 μmol ET/g dry leaves) and the extracts obtained with SW at a lower temperature presented a higher AA value.

Resumo Depois da colheita da fruta Cherimoya, as árvores liberam grandes quantidades de folhas, que são queimadas pelos agricultores. Este trabalho mostra que as folhas podem ser usadas para nosso benefício como um antioxidante. Compostos fenólicos (FC) e a actividade antioxidante (AA) de extractos de folha seca Annona cherimola Mill em etanol a 70% v/v água a 80 °C, água subcrítica (AS) 110, 120, 130 °C, foram determinados seguindo um planejamento fatorial com o programa Minitab. Os FC foram quantificados com a metodologia Folin Ciocalteu; e a capacidade antioxidante (AA) com 2,2-difenil-1-picrilhidrazil (DPPH) e poder antioxidante redutor de ferro (FRAP). Os resultados indicaram que o tipo de solvente e o tempo de extração tiveram um efeito significativo no conteúdo deCFeAA dos extratos. Conclui-se que o extracto de folha de cherimoya é um potencial antioxidante, o extracto de AS 130 °C tinha o maior conteúdo de CF (5,6 g EAG/100 g folha seca) e o extracto etanólico mostraram maior AA (0,86 mg equivalente Trolox/mg extrato seco, IC50 = 0,020 mg extrato seco/mL extracto de folha seca e FRAP de 1710,14 μmol ET/g folha seca). Os extratos obtido com AS a uma temperatura mais baixa apresentaram um maior valor de AA.

ABSTRACT: Mexican snook (Centropomus poeyi) is one of the most important commercial species in Southeast Mexico, which has been overexploited by fisheries. For this reason, some recent studies related to its culture have been done. However, the basic biological knowledge of the digestive physiology is still unknown. In this study, the gene expression of trypsin, (TRY), bile-salt dependent lipase (BAL), amylase (AMY), and cytosolic non-specific dipeptidase (CNP) was investigated during the larval period from embryo (0 days after hatching, DAH), eleuteroembryo (1 DAH) until 25 DAH using RTq-PCR approach and was normalized with the elongation factor 1-( gene (EF1-α). TRY gene expression showed the maximum peak at 17 DAH; meanwhile, BAL gene expression showed variations during larviculture, however, three peaks were observed at 10, 17 and 25 DAH, which appears to correspond to changes in live food supply (rotifers and Artemia nauplii). AMY gene expression was low detected from hatching onwards and showed a slight peak at 10 DAH when larvae were fed with Artemia nauplii. Finally, CNP gene expression had presented three peaks at 2 DAH (yolk-sac absorption), 19 and 23 DAH when larvae were fed with Artemia nauplii. We conclude that C. poeyi larvae showed early and high digestive enzyme expressions, especially TRY, which indicate that could be possible to start the weaning process at 25 DAH, which could be shorter compared than other Centropomid species.

During the period extending from the 70th to the 80th anniversary of the founding of Pedro Kouri Tropical Medicine Institute, researchers, professionals and technicians from the center, in joint cooperation with a variety of Cuban academic and health care institutions, have integrated into multidisciplinary teams engaged in tasks related to scientific development, technological innovation and capacity building. The paper summarizes the main research studies about tuberculosis conducted from 2008 to 2017 as contributions to the National Tuberculosis Control and Elimination Program, with a view to enhancing the quality, effectiveness and efficiency of actions, swiftly finding a solution to tuberculosis incidence and mortality, and fostering tuberculosis research, surveillance and control. Evidence is presented which substantiates innovations in the clinical therapeutic management of both immunocompetent and immunocompromised patients, children and adolescents, and indications are provided for latent tuberculosis infection control, surveillance of anti-tuberculosis treatment outcomes, investigation of case contacts, changes in the record and information system, quality monitoring and evaluation of the detection of tuberculosis cases, and impact on morbidity and mortality.

Desde el 70 al 80 Aniversario de la fundación del Instituto de Medicina Tropical "Pedro Kourí", los investigadores, profesionales y técnicos de este centro, han laborado en cooperación con diversas instituciones académicas y de los servicios de salud de Cuba (en equipos multidisciplinarios) en las tareas de desarrollo científico, innovación tecnológica y construcción de capacidades. Este artículo resume las principales investigaciones realizadas sobre la tuberculosis desde 2008-2017; como contribuciones al Programa Nacional de Control y Eliminación de la Tuberculosis con la perspectiva de aumentar la calidad, efectividad y eficiencia de las acciones y acelerar la solución de la incidencia y la mortalidad por tuberculosis, para la investigación, la vigilancia y control de la tuberculosis. Se presentan evidencias que fundamentan las innovaciones en el manejo clínico terapéutico de pacientes inmunocompetentes e inmunocomprometidos, en niños y adolescentes, sobre las indicaciones para el control de la infección tuberculosa latente, la vigilancia de los desenlaces del tratamiento anti-tuberculosis, la investigación de contactos de casos, los cambios en el sistema de registro e información, el monitoreo y evaluación de la calidad de la detección de casos de tuberculosis, el impacto sobre la morbilidad y la mortalidad.
