Abstract Yellow fever (YF) is a viral disease whose transmission involves non-human primates (NHP), mosquitoes, and humans. Between 2016 and 2018 occurred the largest YF outbreak in the last 100 years in Brazil. We analyzed epidemiologic profile and geographic distribution of epizootics and described most frequent histopathological findings in NHP that died during YF outbreak in the state of Espírito Santo. We consider 487 epizootics notifications registered at the State Health Department from January 2017 to July 2020. Throughout the state, 51 (65.4%) municipalities reported epizootics, with more cases in central and metropolitan areas. Reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction and immunohistochemistry were laboratory tests performed for diagnosis of yellow fever, with 160 (32.9%) positive results, 314 (64.5%) negative and 13 (2.7%) inconclusive. Histopathological findings were compared statistically between positive and negative animals for YF. The liver was the most affected organ. Hemorrhage, hepatocyte necrosis, steatosis, cholestasis and eosinophilic degeneration were statistically more frequent in positive animals. Tubular necrosis, nephritis, congestion and lymphoid hypoplasia on spleen were statistically correlated to positive animals. Knowledge of pathogenic aspect of YF is necessary to guarantee that samples from Neotropical primates are properly used for YF surveillance purposes, to ensure appropriate diagnoses and subsequent public health responses.

ABSTRACT School body education applied in the Argentine educational system used different strategies.One of these strategies was the alimentary education that, basing on the New School, pursued the change of habits, customs and the transformation of “natures”. From the analysis of the Programs for primary school in that period and the copies of The Monitor of Common Education between the years 1936 and 1961, contradictory senses attributed to the nature in which scientific-medical and religious-moral arguments base gender roles and urban and rural labor profiles emerge.

RESUMEN La educación corporal escolar aplicada en el sistema educativo argentino se valió de diferentes estrategias. Una de ellas fue la educación alimentaria que, basándose en la Escuela Nueva, buscaba modificar hábitos, costumbres y transformar “naturalezas”. Del análisis de los Programas para la escuela primaria del período y de los ejemplares de El Monitor de la Educación Común, entre los años 1936 y 1961, emergen sentidos contradictorios atribuidos a la naturaleza en los que argumentos científico-médicos y religioso-morales, fundamentaron roles de género y perfiles laborales urbanos y rurales.

Abstract An efficient architecture is an integral part of sustainable development; therefore, it should include an envelope able to adapt to the climate and the constructive resources of the region. The evaluation of the thermal behavior of buildings by dynamic simulation is used worldwide to evaluate the energy efficiency of buildings. In Mexico, there is a lack of data on the thermal properties of the construction materials. In this paper, the thermal conductivity, specific heat and volumetric density of local construction materials, such as red common brick, light-weight block, natural cement-sand mortars, and recycled cement-sand mortars, made with recycled materials of concrete demolition, are obtained experimentally. The simulation results obtained show a decrease in the heat gains in walls and in the electricity consumptions for cooling. The decrease is over 8% when constructive systems conformed by lightened and recycled materials are used.

Resumen Una arquitectura eficiente forma parte integral del desarrollo sustentable y, asimismo, debe contemplar una envolvente que se adapte al clima y a los recursos constructivos de una región. La evaluación del comportamiento térmico de las edificaciones mediante simulación dinámica se utiliza en todo el mundo para evaluar su eficiencia energética. En México existe carencia de datos sobre las propiedades térmicas de los materiales de construcción. En el presente trabajo se obtiene experimentalmente la conductividad térmica, calor específico y densidad volumétrica de materiales de construcción como lo son: el ladrillo de barro recocido, el bloque aligerado, el mortero cemento-arena natural y el mortero cemento-arena reciclado, este último fabricado con materiales reciclados de la demolición de concreto. Los resultados de simulación obtenidos muestran disminución en las ganancias de calor en muros y en el consumo de energía eléctrica por enfriamiento. La disminución es superior a 8%, utilizando sistemas constructivos conformados con materiales aligerados y reciclados.

BACKGROUND Serological evidence of West Nile virus (WNV) infection has been reported in different regions of Brazil from equine and human hosts but the virus had never been isolated in the country. OBJECTIVES We sought to identify the viral etiology of equine encephalitis in Espírito Santo state. METHODS We performed viral culture in C6/36 cells, molecular detection of WNV genome, histopathology and immunohistochemistry from horse cerebral tissue. We also carried out sequencing, phylogenetic analysis and molecular clock. FINDINGS Histopathologic analysis from horse cerebral tissue showed injury related to encephalitis and WNV infection was confirmed by immunohistochemistry. The virus was detected by reverse transcription quantitative polymerase chain reaction (RT-qPCR) from brain tissue and subsequently isolated in C6/36 cells. WNV full-length genome was sequenced showing the isolated strain belongs to lineage 1a. The molecular clock indicated that Brazilian WNV strain share the same common ancestor that were circulating in US during 2002-2005. MAIN CONCLUSIONS Here we report the first isolation of WNV in Brazil from a horse with neurologic disease, which was clustered into lineage 1a with others US WNV strains isolated in beginning of 2000’s decade.

INTRODUCTION: Breast cancer (BC) is the second most common in the world and the most frequent among women. The incidence varies between regions. In addition, BC is the fifth cause of cancer death worldwide, the most frequent in the least developed regions, and the second cause of death in the most developed regions and in South America. In Argentina, BC has the highest incidence and mortality rates in women. OBJECTIVES: To understand the reasons and consequences of delays as well as the strategies used by women In coping with barriers along the BC treatment process. METHODS: A cross-sectional descriptive study was performed using qualitative data collection technique. Semi-structured interviews were conducted among women with BC and recorded after informed consent. Atlas-ti (V.7.2) was used for data analysis. RESULTS: Barriers were identified at personal level (financial constraints, patient beliefs), at interpersonal level (job problems, family responsibility, physician-patient relationship), and at health system (health service organization, quality of medical care). CONCLUSIONS: The research provides evidence to understand the barriers faced by women diagnosed with BC and shows the opportunities for the implementation of the patient navigation strategy in order to reduce or mitigate delays in the care process.

INTRODUCCIÓN: El cáncer de mama (CM) es el segundo más común en el mundo y el más frecuente entre las mujeres. La Incidencia varía entre reglones. Además, el CM es la quinta causa de muerte por cáncer a nivel mundial, la más frecuente en las regiones menos desarrolladas y la segunda en las más desarrolladas y en Sudamérica. En Argentina, registra las mayores tasas de incidencia y mortalidad entre las mujeres. OBJETIVOS: Comprender los motivos de las demoras, las consecuencias y las estrategias usadas por mujeres con diagnóstico de CM para afrontar barreras durante sus trayectorias de atención. MÉTODOS: Se realizó un estudio descriptivo transversal con abordaje cualitativo, basado en mujeres diagnosticadas con CM en dos hospitales públicos de la provincia de Santa Fe. Se efectuaron entrevistas semiestructuradas, que fueron grabadas previo consentimiento informado. Se utilizó el programa Atlas-ti (V.7.2) para el análisis del material. RESULTADOS: Se identificaron barreras a nivel personal (cuestiones financieras, creencias de las pacientes), interpersonal (cuestiones laborales, responsabilidad familiar, comunicación médico-paciente) y del sistema de salud (organización de servicios, calidad de atención). CONCLUSIONES: La investigación aporta evidencia para comprender las barreras que enfrentan las mujeres diagnosticadas con CM y muestra las oportunidades para implementar la estrategia de navegación de pacientes a fin de reducir o mitigar las demoras en la atención.

Resumo: Este estudo investigou a influência da armazenagem em água (24 h e 6 meses) e dos materiais para colagem Transbond XT e Fuji Ortho LCO na resistência da união de bráquetes metálicos fixados a cerâmica feldspática. Quatro cilindros de cerâmica foram condicionados com ácido fluorídrico a 10% por 60 s. Todos os cilindros receberam duas camadas de silano. Bráquetes metálicos foram fixados aos cilindros utilizando os materiais Transbond XT ou Fuji Ortho LC. A fotoativação foi realizada com tempo de exposição total de 40 s utilizando Bluephase G2. Metade das amostras de cada material de colagem (n=20) foi armazenada em água destilada a 37 °C por 24 h e outra metade por 6 meses. O ensaio de resistência da união ao cisalhamento foi realizado após os períodos de armazenagem à velocidade de 1 mm/minuto. O Índice de Remanescente Adesivo (IRA) foi utilizado para avaliar a quantidade de adesivo residual na superfície da cerâmica, em lupa estereoscópica com aumento de 8x. Os dados foram submetidos à Análise de Variância de dois fatores e teste de Tukey (p<0,05). Transbond XT apresentou resistência de união significativamente maior do que Fuji Ortho LC. Diferença significante (p<0,05) na resistência da união foi encontrada entre os períodos de armazenagem, qualquer que fosse o material para colagem. O IRA mostrou predominância de escore 0 para todos os grupos, com aumento de escores 1, 2 e 3 para o período de armazenagem de 24 h. Em conclusão, o período de armazenagem e os materiais de colagem influenciaram significativamente a resistência da união de bráquetes à cerâmica.

Abstract: This study investigated the influence of water storage (24 h and 6 months), and Transbond XT and Fuji Ortho LC bonding materials on the bond strength of metallic brackets bonded to feldspathic ceramic. Four cylinders of feldspathic ceramic were etched with 10% hydrofluoric acid for 60 s. Each cylinder received two layers of silane. Metallic brackets were bonded to the cylinders using Transbond XT or Fuji Ortho LC. Light-activation was carried out with 40 s total exposure time using Bluephase G2. Half the specimens for each bonding materials (n=20) were stored in distilled water at 37 °C for 24 h and the other half for 6 months. Shear bond strength testing was performed after storage times at a crosshead speed of 1 mm/min. The adhesive remnant index (ARI) was used to evaluate the amount of adhesive remaining on the ceramic surface at ×8 magnification. Data were subjected to two-way ANOVA and Tukey's test (p<0.05). Transbond XT showed significantly higher bond strength (p<0.05) than Fuji Ortho LC. Significant differences in bond strength (p<0.05) were found when 24 h and 6 months storage times were compared between materials. ARI showed a predominance of score 0 for all groups, and higher scores at 1, 2 and 3 for 24 h storage time. In conclusion, storage time and bonding materials showed significant influence on the bond strength of brackets to ceramic.

OBJETIVO: Avaliar a auto-imagem vocal e caracterizar auditiva e acusticamente as vozes de sujeitos com Transtorno Obsessivo Compulsivo (TOC), comparadas a um grupo controle sem queixas psiquiátricas e vocais, além de analisar aspectos psicológicos que possam estar envolvidos nas questões vocais avaliadas. MÉTODOS: Constituiu-se uma amostra de 35 indivíduos, homens e mulheres, com idades entre 16 e 74 anos, sendo 17 com TOC e 18 casos controle. Todos os pesquisados foram submetidos aos seguintes protocolos de pesquisa: Escala de Depressão de Beck, Escala de Ansiedade de Beck e o protocolo para a caracterização da voz de sujeitos com manifestações psiquiátricas. Os sujeitos responderam ainda ao questionário de análise psicodinâmica da voz com enfoque na auto-imagem vocal e foram submetidos à avaliação perceptivo-auditiva e análise acústica da voz. RESULTADOS: Na análise da auto-imagem vocal, os aspectos significativos descritos pelo grupo clínico foram as características vocais triste e ruim. Na avaliação perceptivo-auditiva, houve predomínio do tipo voz rouco-soprosa em grau leve, alterações na ressonância, velocidade de fala e na modulação e entonação. Houve diferenças entre os valores de jitter e shimmer. Não foram observados valores fora do padrão de normalidade com relação ao tremor, nem diferenças entre os grupos quanto aos valores de frequência fundamental. CONCLUSÃO: Foi possível compreender a percepção do indivíduo com TOC sobre sua própria voz e os desvios na emissão vocal. Assim, o fonoaudiólogo pode obter informações que permitam melhorar a qualidade de vida destes por meio de uma intervenção fonoaudiológica, visando, também, a interdisciplinaridade.

PURPOSE: To assess the vocal self-image and to characterize auditory and acoustic aspects of the voices of individuals with Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD), compared to a control group without psychiatric and vocal complaints, in addition to analyze the psychological aspects that may be involved in the evaluated vocal issues. METHODS: The sample consisted of 35 individuals - 17 with OCD and 18 control cases - of both genders, with ages between 16 and 74 years. All subjects underwent the following research protocols: Beck Depression Inventory, Beck Anxiety Inventory, and the protocol for the characterization of the voices of individuals with psychiatric manifestations. The subjects also answered the voice psychodynamic analysis questionnaire focusing on their vocal self-image, and were submitted to auditory-perceptive evaluation and acoustic analysis of voice. RESULTS: In the analysis of the vocal self-image, the significant aspects described by the clinical group were the vocal characteristics sad and bad. In the auditory-perceptive analysis, there was a predominance of the slightly hoarse, breathy voice, alterations in resonance, speech rate, modulation and intonation. There were differences between jitter and shimmer values. All values regarding tremor were within normal standard parameters, and no differences were found between the groups regarding fundamental frequency values. CONCLUSION: It was possible to understand the perception of individuals with OCD regarding their own voices, and the deviations in vocal emissions. Thus, the speech-language pathologist can obtain information that allows the improvement in the quality of life of these individuals through speech-language pathology intervention, also aiming at interdisciplinarity.
