OBJETIVO: descrever e comparar os padrões de fluência da fala de crianças com e sem desvio fonológico evolutivo. MÉTODOS: a amostra foi constituída de 20 sujeitos com idades entre 4:6 e 7:6 anos, sendo 10 crianças com diagnóstico de desvio fonológico evolutivo e 10 com desenvolvimento fonológico típico. Os sujeitos de ambos os grupos foram submetidos a uma avaliação da fluência da fala que faz parte do Teste de Linguagem Infantil-ABFW. Com base neste protocolo, analisaram-se as tipologias das rupturas do fluxo de fala, as quais são classificadas como disfluências comuns e disfluências gagas. Foi realizado o cálculo da freqüência de rupturas da fala e da porcentagem de disfluências gagas. Por meio deste teste também se analisou a velocidade de fala, medindo-se o fluxo de palavras e de sílabas por minuto. RESULTADOS: não houve diferença estatisticamente significante entre os grupos quanto às variáveis analisadas. Contudo, pode-se perceber que o grupo com desvio fonológico evolutivo apresentou maiores médias do que o grupo com desenvolvimento fonológico típico na maioria das variáveis, com exceção do fluxo de sílabas e palavras por minuto. Quanto à velocidade de fala, no que se refere ao fluxo de sílabas por minuto houve uma tendência de um menor fluxo no grupo com desvio fonológico evolutivo. CONCLUSÃO: no grupo estudado, crianças com desvios fonológicos evolutivos e crianças com desenvolvimento fonológico típico não diferem quanto aos aspectos de fluência de suas falas.

PURPOSE: describing and comparing the fluency patterns on children´s speech with and without evolutive phonological disorder. METHODS: the sample was 20 subjects aged between 4:6 and 7:6; 10 of them with the diagnosis of evolutive phonological disorder and 10 with a normal speech development. The subjects of both groups were submitted to speech fluency evaluation, which is part of the Teste de Linguagem Infantil - ABFW. Based on this protocol, the speech disruptions types (which are classified as typical disfluencies, and less typical disfluencies) were analyzed, and, after that, the speech disruptions frequency and the percentage of less typical disfluencies were calculated. Through this test it was also analyzed the speech rate, by measuring the flow of words and syllables per minute. RESULTS: there was no statistically significant difference between the groups related to the analyzed variables. However, it was perceived that in all variables, except the flow of words and syllables per minute, the group with evolutive phonological disorder has higher averages than the group with typical phonological development. As to the speech speed, concerning the number of syllables per minute, there seems to exist a tendency to a lower flow on the group with evolutive phonological disorder. CONCLUSION: it was verified that there is a tendency to occur disfluency in the group of children with evolutive phonological disorder, as well as a slower speech speed in all subjects of this group.

OBJETIVO: verificar se há influência da gravidade do desvio fonológico evolutivo quanto à semântica e morfossintaxe. MÉTODO: participaram do estudo 14 crianças com desvio fonológico, de idades entre quatro e sete anos. Foi realizada a Avaliação Fonológica da Criança e o desvio foi classificado a partir do Percentual de Consoantes Corretas- Revisado, baseado no Percentual de Consoantes Corretas, o qual divide a gravidade do desvio fonológico em leve, leve-moderado, moderado-grave e grave. Verificou-se, quanto à gravidade, que quatro sujeitos apresentavam desvio leve, quatro leve-moderado, três moderado-grave e três grave. Em seguida, as crianças foram submetidas à avaliação da semântica e da morfossintaxe, por meio da pesquisa da Média dos Valores da Frase, em que foram coletadas frases de três diferentes modalidades de linguagem: descrever uma figura, contar uma história e responder a perguntas. As cinco primeiras frases faladas pelas crianças foram pontuadas de acordo com a sua complexidade. Posteriormente, foi realizada análise estatística por meio da técnica não paramétrica de Kruskal-Wallis, sendo considerado significante valor de p<0,05. RESULTADOS: não houve diferença estatisticamente significante entre os diferentes graus de gravidade do DF nas três modalidades de linguagem avaliadas, no que se refere à morfossintaxe, à semântica, ao total da construção e ao total da extensão. CONCLUSÃO: a gravidade do desvio fonológico não influencia o desempenho das crianças no que se refere ao desenvolvimento da semântica e da morfossintaxe, visto que não houve significância estatística entre os resultados. Desse modo, pode-se sugerir que outros estudos sejam realizados a fim de confirmarem ou não tais resultados.

PURPOSE: to check the influence of severity arising from the phonological disorder related to semantics and morphosyntax. METHOD: the sample consisted of 14 children aged between 4:0 and 7:0 years, with phonological disorder. We carried out the child's phonological assessment, and the phonological disorder was classified according to the Percentage of Correct Consonants Revised, based on the Percentage of Correct Consonants, which classifies the severity of the phonological disorder in mild, mild-moderate, moderate-severe, and severe. We found that four subjects showed mild disorder, four showed mild-moderate disorder, three showed moderate-severe disorder, and three showed severe disorder. After this procedure, the children were exposed to morphosyntax and semantic evaluation, through the research on the average values of phrase, in which they collected phrases from three different language modalities: describing a picture, telling a story, and answering questions. The five phrases the children first spoke were punctuated according to their complexity. Next, we accomplished the statistical analysis through the Kruskal-Wallis non-parametric test. The significant p value is considered p<0.05. RESULTS: there was no statistical significant difference among the different degrees of severity of the phonological disorder in the three evaluated language modalities, as related to the morphosyntax, semantics, total of construction, and total of length. CONCLUSION: we can conclude that the severity of the phonological disorder does not affect the children's performance regarding morphosyntax and semantic development, because there was no statistical significance among the results. Therefore, we may suggest that other studies should be carried out in order to confirm or not such results.

OBJETIVO: Verificar a média dos valores da frase em crianças com desvio fonológico e comparar com o padrão de referência proposto na literatura. MÉTODOS: A amostra foi constituída de 16 crianças com desvio fonológico, sendo sete do gênero feminino e nove do gênero masculino, com idades entre 4 anos e 5 meses e 7 anos e 7 meses. Após a confirmação do diagnóstico de desvio fonológico evolutivo, os sujeitos foram submetidos à avaliação da linguagem por meio da pesquisa da média dos valores da frase, proposta na literatura. Nessa avaliação, por meio de três diferentes modalidades de enunciação da linguagem, foram coletadas as cinco primeiras frases faladas pelas crianças e pontuadas de acordo com a sua complexidade, sendo atribuídos pesos diferentes aos elementos sintáticos e aos elementos lexicais de cada frase. RESULTADOS: Quando comparadas com as crianças de referência, as crianças com desvio fonológico evolutivo apresentaram valores inferiores em todas as variáveis analisadas, sendo a diferença significativa. O mesmo foi observado quando o grupo foi dividido em faixas etárias, porém, nas faixas de 5 a 7 anos algumas modalidades analisadas não apresentaram diferenças significativas. CONCLUSÃO: Conforme este estudo, crianças com diagnóstico de desvio fonológico evolutivo podem apresentar prejuízos em outros subsistemas da linguagem como o semântico e o morfossintático, sendo estes mais evidentes nas faixas etárias iniciais.

PURPOSE: To determine the average values of phrase in children with phonological disorder, and to compare it with benchmark values proposed in literature. METHODS: The sample consisted of 16 children with phonological disorders, seven females and nine males, with ages between 4 years and 5 months and 7 years and 7 months. After confirmation of the diagnosis of developmental phonological disorder, subjects were submitted to language assessment through the investigation of the average values of phrase, as proposed in literature. In this assessment, using three different modalities of language enunciation, we collected the first five sentences spoken by each child, which were scored according to their complexity, by giving different weights to syntactic and lexical elements of each sentence. RESULTS: When compared with the reference children, children with developmental phonological disorder presented lower values in all variables analyzed, and this difference was significant. The same was observed when the group was divided into age groups, however, in the age groups of 5 to 7 years some modalities analyzed showed no differences. CONCLUSION: According to this study, children diagnosed with developmental phonological disorder may present losses in other areas of language, such as semantics and morphosyntax, which are more evident in the early age groups.

OBJETIVO: Analisar a ocorrência de onset complexo pré e pós-tratamento em crianças tratadas com três diferentes modelos de terapia fonológica. MÉTODOS: Participaram 21 sujeitos com desvio fonológico, 16 meninos e cinco meninas, com idades entre quatro e sete anos e 11 meses, divididos em grupos de sete sujeitos de acordo com o modelo utilizado para o tratamento: Ciclos Modificado, Oposições Máximas e ABAB-Retirada e Provas Múltiplas. Verificou-se os dados do sistema fonológico inicial e final, referentes à produção total de onsets complexos e dos onsets complexos com /l/ e com /r/. Estes foram classificados em: não adquiridos, de 0 a 39%; parcialmente adquiridos, de 40 a 69% e adquiridos de 70 a 100%. Os dados foram submetidos à análise estatística. RESULTADOS: Quanto ao total de onsets complexos, nos Modelos de Ciclos e Oposições Máximas, houve diferença nas médias dos onsets complexos não adquiridos e dos onsets complexos adquiridos antes e após a terapia e, no Modelo ABAB apenas nos onsets complexos adquiridos (p<0,05). No onset complexo com /r/ verificou-se o mesmo resultado. No onset complexo com /l/, somente no Modelo de Ciclos houve diferença entre as médias dos onsets complexos não adquiridos e dos onsets complexos adquiridos. Em todos os modelos foi diferente a classificação de onsets complexos não adquiridos para onsets complexos adquiridos, pré e pós-tratamento. CONCLUSÃO: Os três modelos de terapia fonológica se mostraram eficientes para o tratamento da estrutura silábica onset complexo.

PURPOSE: To examine the occurrence of complex onset pre- and post-treatment in children treated with three different models of phonological therapy. METHODS: Twenty-one subjects with phonological disorder participated in the study, 16 boys and five girls, with ages varying between four years and seven years and eleven months. The children were divided into three groups of seven subjects, according to the therapy models used: Modified Cycles Model, Maximum Opposition Model and ABAB-Withdrawal and Multiple Probes Model. Data from initial and final evaluations of the phonological system were analyzed, regarding the total production of complex onsets and of production of complex onsets with /l/ and /r/. These were classified as: not acquired, from 0 to 39%; partially acquired, from 40 to 69%; and acquired, from 70 to 100%. Statistical analyses were carried out. RESULTS: Regarding the total number of occurences of complex onsets, there was a difference between pre- and post-therapy means of not acquired and acquired complex onsets in the Modified Cycles Model and in the Maximum Opposition Model; in the ABAB-Withdrawal and Multiple Probes Model, this difference was found only for acquired complex onsets. The same was veryfied for complex onsets with /r/. With regards to complex onsets with /l/, differences were found only in the Modified Cycles Model, between not acquired and acquired complex onsets. A different classification of not acquired and acquired complex onsets was observed, in all models, between pre- and post-treatment. CONCLUSION: The three models of phonological therapy were effective for the treatment of complex syllabic onset structure.
