Abstract The article presents the theoretical and methodological elaborations of a study developed in the area of Great Buenos Aires about the evaluation practices in the transitions between levels of the educational system. Based on empirical results it presents the discussion over the transformation of the project initial research object which was in the category of “evaluative events”, towards the conceptualization of “evaluative criteria”, following Basil Bernstein’s theory. Evaluative criteria are taken as constructs that allow to identify the variation of teachers’ expectations in the transitions between educational levels. It presents the process of construction of semantic networks used for the analysis of empirical material obtained in the fieldwork, the elaboration of a language of description in order to address evaluation criteria, and the construction of the three criteria which arose from the codification: criteria for the selection of contents, of students classification and evaluative criteria. The last part illustrates some of the findings for each criteria, giving an account of the specificities according to the educational level.

Resumen El artículo presenta las elaboraciones teóricas y metodológicas de un estudio desarrollado en escuelas del conurbano bonaerense sobre las prácticas de evaluación en las transiciones entre niveles del sistema educativo. A partir de los resultados empíricos obtenidos, se expone la discusión sobre la transformación del objeto de estudio inicial del proyecto que se enfocaba en la categoría de “eventos evaluativos” a la conceptualización de “criterios de evaluación”, siguiendo los aportes de la teoría de Basil Bernstein. Se toman a los criterios de evaluación como constructos que permiten identificar la variación de las expectativas de los y las docentes en las transiciones entre niveles educativos. Se presenta el proceso de construcción de redes semánticas para el análisis del material empírico obtenido en el trabajo de campo, la elaboración de un lenguaje de descripción para abordar los criterios de evaluación, y la construcción de los tres criterios resultantes de la codificación: criterios de selección de contenidos, de clasificación de estudiantes y de evaluación. Finaliza ilustrando algunos hallazgos en cada uno de los criterios, dando cuenta de sus especificidades de acuerdo al nivel educativo.

RESUMEN Introducción: El quiste nasolaveolar, conocido también como nasolabial o de Klestadt, se considera un raro quiste del desarrollo, epitelial y no odontogénico. Aparece en la región del ala nasal, produce asimetría facial, afecta la estética y puede conducir a alteraciones psicológicas. Objetivo: Presentar un caso clínico de quiste nasoalveolar unilateral derecho. Caso clínico: Paciente masculino de 30 años de edad, de color de piel negra, procedencia rural y con antecedentes de salud. Acudió a consulta por presentar aumento de volumen en ala nasal derecha, que producía obstrucción nasal y dificultades al respirar. El examen físico y complementarios imagenológicos revelaron diagnóstico presuntivo de quiste nasoalveolar unilateral derecho. Se procedió a la exéresis quirúrgica de la lesión bajo anestesia local sin complicaciones, el examen histopatológico confirmó el presunto diagnóstico. Conclusiones: El quiste nasoalveolar es una entidad clínica poco frecuente en Cuba y el mundo, su tratamiento es quirúrgico y es baja su recurrencia.

ABSTRACT Introduction: The nasolaveolar cyst, also known as nasolabial or Klestadt, is considered a rare developmental, epithelial and non-odontogenic cyst. It appears in the region of the nasal wing, produces facial asymmetry, affects aesthetics and can lead to psychological disorders. Objective: To present a clinical case of a right unilateral nasoalveolar cyst. Clinical case: A 30-year-old male patient, black, rural origin and with a history of health. He came to the consultation due to presenting an increase in volume in the right nasal wing, which caused nasal obstruction and difficulties in breathing. The physical and complementary imaging examinations revealed a presumptive diagnosis of a right unilateral nasoalveolar cyst. The lesion was surgically removed under local anesthesia without complications and histopathological examination confirmed the presumed diagnosis. Conclusions: The nasoalveolar cyst is a rare clinical entity in Cuba and the world, its treatment is surgical and its recurrence is low.

ABSTRACT Objective: Prolong platelet survival and functionality up to 28 days. Methods: A sample of apheresis platelets was evaluated, distributed in 3 groups according to the cryopreservative solution used: DMS05%+2%albumin; DMSO5%+NaC10,9% and DMS05%+Dextrose2%. They were then frozen at -80 °C and thawed at 7, 14 and 28 days. The in vitro survival and viability were assessed by the post-thaw platelet count and the CD41, CD61 and CD42a staining percentages by flow cytometry. The functionality was determined with the percentage of post-stimulation aggregation with INm-thrombin using the Chromo-Log490 aggregometer. The control group (CG) consisted of fresh platelets under constant agitation at 22 °C. Results: A total of 72 platelet aliquots was analyzed. The CG presented a platelet-count of 1934 ± 0.5 × 109/L and a 100% viability. The percentages of CD41, CD61 and CD42a labeling were 99, 98.5 and 96.5%, respectively. The percentage of aggregation was 99%. On day 7 of the post-freezing, the platelet count for groups 1, 2 and 3 was 1,844 ± 102, 1,856 ± 76 and 1,752 ± 226, with the viability of 98, 96 and 95%, respectively. On day 14, the counts were 1,722 ± 238, 1,649 ± 215 and 1,578 ± 223 with the viability of 96, 95 and 94% and, on day 28, they were 1,602 ± 374, 1,438.6 ± 429 and 1,406.6 ± 436, with the viability of 96, 94 and 93%, respectively. Groupl presented a higher expression of membrane antigens. Aggregation percentages were 90, 98 and 89% at day 7, 88%, 98 and 87% at day 14 and 84%, 95 and 82% at day of the 28 post-freezing, respectively, with group2 presenting the best results. Conclusion: The results support cryopreservation as a reasonable method to prolong platelet survival up to 28 days, maintaining its functionality and viability greater than 50%. Resumen Los objetivos fueron evaluar el nivel de procrastinación académica del estudiantado de medicina del Paraguay en 2022 y describir sus características sociodemográficas. Se realizó un estudio observacional, de corte transversal. Se aplicó el cuestionario de García-Martínez y Silva (2019)constituido por 22 preguntas basadas en la escala de Likert, el cual fue difundido por las redes sociales de estudiantes de universidades públicas y privadas del Paraguay entre mayo y octubre 2022 . El nivel de procrastinación se determinó por las dimensiones postergación de tareas, autorregulación académica e influencia de la tecnología, además, se evaluaron variables sociodemográficas. Las variables fueron sometidas a un análisis factorial exploratorio para indagar las dimensiones subyacentes, constructos o variables latentes observadas. La investigación fue aprobada por el Comité de ética de la Universidad Privada del Este, Paraguay. Se encuestaron 188 estudiantes, con predominio del sexo femenino (64.9%). La edad media fue 24 ± 4 años, un 31.9% reside en Asunción, 81.4% carece de ingresos económicos propios. En conclusión, se detectó procrastinación en 73 estudiantes (38.8%) de medicina. Se recomienda investigar las causas de esta situación.

Abstract As main objectives, this research aims to determine the level of academic procrastination of medical students in Paraguay in 2022 and describe their sociodemographic characteristics. For this, the researchers conducted an observational cross-sectional study. Likewise, they applied the García-Martínez and Silva (2019) questionnaire, which was disseminated through the social networks of students from public and private universities in Paraguay between May and October 2022. Procrastination was determined with the dimensions of task postponement, academic self-regulation and the influence of technology using 22 questions, answered with a scale of Likert. Sociodemographic variables were also evaluated. The variables were submitted to an exploratory factor analysis to investigate the underlying dimensions, constructs, or latent variables observed. The research was approved by the Ethics Committee of the Universidad Privada del Este, Paraguay. The researchers surveyed 188 students, with a predominance of females (64.9%). The average age was 24 ± 4 years, 31.9% reside in Asunción, and 81.4% lack their own economic income. Procrastination was detected in 73 students (38.8%). In conclusion, procrastination was detected in 38.8% of medical students; therefore, it is recommended to investigate the causes of this situation.

Resumen Introducción. Los insectos comestibles se presentan como una fuente alternativa de proteína generada con prácticas de producción sostenibles con el medio ambiente y de alto valor nutricional. La producción de alimentos con insectos ha aumentado en los últimos años a nivel mundial y se estima que continuará en crecimiento. Costa Rica cuenta con un pequeño número de productores de insectos comestibles, lo que ha conllevado un creciente interés de la academia y entidades estatales por fomentar el sector. Objetivo. Presentar el mercado actual, las oportunidades, los retos y las perspectivas de la producción, procesamiento y comercialización de insectos comestibles a nivel internacional y en Costa Rica. Desarrollo. Se describe el mercado actual de los insectos comestibles a nivel mundial, los principales retos y oportunidades de su producción, procesamiento y comercialización, así como el desarrollo del sector en Costa Rica. Conclusión. A nivel mundial, los principales retos relacionados con la producción de alimentos con insectos son la baja aceptación del consumidor, la falta de tecnologías de producción de insectos y un deficiente marco regulatorio. En Costa Rica, debido a los esfuerzos conjuntos de la academia, el sector público y privado, existe un marco regulatorio base que permite la producción de tres especies de insectos para consumo humano. Los costarricenses tienen la disposición de incluir los insectos en su dieta, pero aún es necesario desarrollar mejores métodos de producción para facilitar el crecimiento del sector.

Abstract Introduction. Edible insects emerge as an alternative source of protein generated with environmentally sustainable production practices and high nutritional value. The production of insect-based food products has increased globally in recent years and it is expected to continue growing. Costa Rica has a small number of edible insect producers, which has led to growing interest from academia and government entities in promoting the sector. Objective. To present the current market, opportunities, challenges, and perspectives of edible insect production, processing, and marketing internationally and in Costa Rica. Development. The current global market for edible insects is described, the main challenges, and opportunities in their production, processing, and marketing, as well as the sector's development in Costa Rica. Conclusion. Globally, key challenges in edible insect production include low consumer acceptance, lack of insect production technologies, and inadequate regulatory framework. In Costa Rica, collaborative efforts from academia, the public, and private sectors have established a basic regulatory framework allowing the production of three insect species for human consumption. Costa Ricans are willing to include insects in their diet, but there is still a need to develop better production methods to facilitate the sector growth.

Resumen Introducción. La congelación isocórica (a volumen constante) es una tecnología novel que ha sido evaluada en diferentes investigaciones para demostrar los posibles beneficios para la industria alimentaria. Objetivo. Presentar un resumen general sobre el mercado de alimentos congelados, las tecnologías de congelación utilizadas, así como las emergentes, y estudiar a profundidad los fundamentos teóricos de la congelación isocórica y las ventajas en la industria alimentaria con respecto a los sistemas tradicionales de congelación y evidenciar los posibles campos de investigación relacionados con dicha tecnología. Desarrollo. Este trabajo fue realizado en Costa Rica entre febrero de 2022 y junio del 2022, y se describe el contexto general del mercado de alimentos congelados, las tecnologías utilizadas en la industria, el principio termodinámico de la tecnología isocórica, las ventajas fisicoquímicas, microbiológicas y energéticas, y finaliza con los posibles campos de investigación y desventajas hasta ahora encontradas. Conclusión. La congelación isocórica presenta ventajas importantes respecto a los procesos de congelación actuales en la industria de alimentos, sin embargo, es necesario realizar más estudios respecto a aspectos microbiológicos, así como optimizar los parámetros de proceso y equipos para generar un cambio en el sistema de congelación a nivel mundial.

Abstract Introduction. Isochoric freezing (at constant volume) is a novel technology that has been evaluated in different studies to demonstrate the possible benefits for the food industry. Objective. To present an overall summary about the frozen food market, the freezing technologies currently used, as well as the emerging ones, and delve into the fundamental theories of isochoric freezing and the advantages in the food industry compared to traditional freezing systems and to show the possible fields of research related to this technology. Development. This work was carried out in Costa Rica between February 2022 and June 2022, it describes the general context of the frozen food market, the technologies used in the industry, the thermodynamic principles of the isochoric technology, the physicochemical, microbiological and energetical advantages, and ends with the possible fields of research and disadvantages recently found. Conclusion. Isochoric freezing presents important advantages compared to the current freezing processes in the food industry, however, it is necessary to perform more research related to microbiological aspects, as well as to optimize the process parameters and equipment to generate a change in the global food freezing system.

ABSTRACT Introduction: The factors that allow the management of river systems at metallic contamination risk, must be clearly identified in order to reduce the degree of contamination and mitigate its effects. The objective of the work was to develop and implement a procedure for the sustainable management of river systems at risk of metal contamination, which serve as a tool to facilitate decision making at the territorial level. Methods: It was established the conceptual model (dimensions, categories and indicators) and the implementation procedure by expert consultations. During the implementation in the Pedroso-Mampostón river system, they were used ICPMS and RX- fluorescence techniques, catalytic oxidation, gaseous phase chromatography, potentiometry and X-ray diffraction. They were used semi-structured interviews and team work to obtain information and communicate results. Results: The conceptual model consists in two subsystems (Monitoring and Response), that characterize pollution and categorize ecosystems by evaluating six abiotic and eight biotic indicators. It was defined the procedure that guides the implementation of the model in four stages and it was applied in the Pedroso-Mampostón river system, which allowed its hydrological units to be categorized: Mampostón Dam-Category I; Ganuza River, Mampostón River and Pedroso Dam-Category IV. Contamination is characterized as widespread-restricted, frequent and very dangerous. There is evidence of toxicity in fish (moderate-high CPEt: concentrations of Cd not recommended for consumption in 37.5%-44.0%; high Pb content in 14%-20%) and plants (PDF in macrophytes: 16%-32% Cd and Pb). In humans, there is a chronic non-carcinogenic danger from a consumption of 81 g.day-1 and a real-restricted carcinogenic risk. Conclusions: The procedure can be useful to other ecosystems at metallic contamination risk.

RESUMEN Introducción: Los factores que permiten el manejo de sistemas fluviales en riesgo de contaminación metálica, deben estar identificados con claridad para lograr disminuir el grado de contaminación y la mitigación de sus efectos. El trabajo tuvo como objetivo desarrollar e implementar un procedimiento que permita el manejo sostenible de sistemas fluviales en riesgo de contaminación metálica, como herramienta para facilitar la toma de decisiones a nivel territorial. Métodos: Mediante el método de consulta a expertos, se establecieron las dimensiones, categorías e indicadores que integran el modelo conceptual y el procedimiento de monitoreo y gestión de sistemas fluviales en riesgo de contaminación metálica. Durante la implementación en el sistema fluvial Pedroso-Mampostón, se utilizaron técnicas de Espectrometría de masas por plasma inducido y acoplado y fluorescencia de rayos X, oxidación catalítica, cromatografía en fase gaseosa, potenciometría y difracción de rayos X. Se utilizaron entrevistas semiestructuradas y trabajo grupal para obtener información y comunicar resultados. Resultados: El modelo conceptual consta de 2 subsistemas que permiten, mediante la evaluación de 6 indicadores abióticos y 8 bióticos, caracterizar la contaminación y categorizar los ecosistemas. El procedimiento que guía la implementación del modelo se definió en 4 etapas y se aplicó en el sistema fluvial Pedroso-Mampostón, lo que permitió categorizar sus unidades hidrológicas: presa Mampostón-Categoría I; ríos Ganuza y Mampostón y derivadora Pedroso; categoría IV. La contaminación se caracteriza como diseminada-restringida, frecuente y muy peligrosa. Existen evidencias de toxicidad en peces (CPEt moderado-alto: concentraciones de Cd no recomendables para el consumo en el 37,5 % el 44,0 %; contenido de Pb elevado en el 14 % al 20 %) y plantas (PDF en macrófitas: 16 % al 32 % Cd y Pb). En el hombre, existe peligro crónico para un consumo de 81 gr/día-1 y riesgo carcinogénico (real-restringido). Como conclusiones, el procedimiento aplicado puede ser generalizable a otros ecosistemas en riesgo.

Resumen Existen pocas evidencias científicas del uso del portafolio más allá de los límites curriculares de una asignatura. Se presenta un estudio realizado para evaluar una estrategia metodológica de utilización del portafolio de forma global para el desarrollo del aprendizaje reflexivo. Se adoptó un diseño experimental con pretest-postest con 50 estudiantes de maestría de varios países que estudian virtualmente en una universidad de México. Se utilizó el cuestionario Honey-Alonso de estilos de aprendizaje para pretest y postest. Los resultados muestran evidencias de desarrollo del aprendizaje reflexivo al aplicar la estrategia metodológica diseñada, pues los estudiantes mostraron avances en el análisis autocrítico de sus aprendizajes. Se concluye que el portafolio constituye un impulsor del pensamiento crítico en los entornos e-learning, en tanto favorece la meta reflexión y colaboración dialógica entre los actores del proceso formativo y permite la dinamización de aprendizajes relevantes de los futuros egresados como ciudadanos globales.

Abstract There is little scientific evidence on the use of portfolio beyond the curricular limits of a certain course. We present a study conducted to evaluate a methodological strategy for globally employing a portfolio for the development of reflexive learning. We adopted an experimental design with pretest-postest with 50 masters students from various countries who study online in a Mexican university. We used the Honey-Alonso Questionnaire for styles of learning for the prestest and postest. Results show evidence of reflexive learning development when applying the designed methodological strategy, since students showed progress in the autocritical analysis of their learning. We conclude that the portfolio constitutes a driver for critical thought in e-learning environments, given that it favors meta-reflection and dialogic collaboration between the actors of the formative process. This allows greater dynamism in learning experiences for these future graduates relevant to their development as global citizens.

ABSTRACT Introduction. Chemotherapy-associated executive dysfunction is an adverse effect of conventional antineoplastic treatment that affects many patients. It has been reported that the presence of specific polymorphisms in key genes can cause a greater susceptibility to develop this condition. Objective. To determine the relationship between the Val66Met polymorphism (196 G>A) of the BDNF gene and the development of executive dysfunction in female patients with breast cancer treated with chemotherapy. Methods. 73 female breast cancer patients were evaluated for executive dysfunction before and after chemotherapy. The evaluation was carried out with the INECO Frontal Screening test (IFS). The genotype (GG=Val/Val, GA=Val/Met and AA=Met/Met) was determined by PCR and sequencing of BDNF gene. Association analysis was performed by calculating the Odds Ratio (OR) and by quantitative comparison. Results. 13.7% (n = 10) of the sample presented the allele A (GA and AA), which obtained significantly lower scores in the IFS test compared to the homozygous GG (p < 0.05). Patients grouped according to the presence of the A allele (GA/AA vs GG) and compared with the presence or absence of executive dysfunction, did not show significant differences (OR = 1.86; IC 95%: 0.49 to 7.14; p = 0.483). Conclusions. No significant association was found between the Val66Met (196G>A) polymorphism of the BDNF gene and the development of executive dysfunction in patients with breast cancer treated with chemotherapy. However, patients with the allele A (Met) presented significant lower scores in the cognitive assessment.

RESUMEN Introducción. La disfunción ejecutiva asociada a quimioterapia es un efecto adverso del tratamiento antineoplásico convencional y afecta a un porcentaje considerable de personas. Se ha reportado que la presencia de ciertos polimorfismos en genes relevantes puede causar mayor susceptibilidad a padecerlo. Objetivo. Determinar la relación entre el polimorfismo Val66Met (196 G>A) del gen BDNF y el desarrollo de disfunción ejecutiva en mujeres con cáncer de mama tratadas con quimioterapia. Métodos. Se evaluaron a 73 pacientes mujeres con cáncer de mama para determinar disfunción ejecutiva antes y después de la quimioterapia. La evaluación fue realizada con la prueba INECO Frontal Screening (IFS). Se determinó el genotipo (GG=Val/Val, GA=Val/Met y AA=Met/Met) por PCR y secuenciamiento del gen BDNF. El análisis de asociación se realizó mediante el cálculo del odds ratio (OR). Resultados. El 13,7% (n = 10) de pacientes presentó el alelo A (GA y AA), además obtuvieron puntajes significativamente menores de la prueba IFS comparado con las homocigotas GG (p < 0,05). Las pacientes agrupadas según la presencia del alelo A (GA/AA vs GG) y comparadas según presencia o ausencia de la disfunción ejecutiva, no mostraron diferencias significativas (OR = 1,86; IC 95%: 0,49 a 7,14; p = 0,483). Conclusiones. No se encontró asociación significativa entre el polimorfismo Val66Met (196G>A) del gen BDNF y el desarrollo de disfunción ejecutiva en pacientes con cáncer de mama tratadas con quimioterapia; sin embargo, las portadoras del alelo A (Met) presentaron puntajes menores en la evaluación cognitiva.

RESUMEN El presente estudio tiene el objetivo de sistematizar los diferentes enfoques teóricos del estudiante como cliente y su relación con la satisfacción y el rendimiento académico, comprendiendo que el rendimiento académico es un factor clave en una institución educativa, a tal punto de estar planteado en el programa de estudios que se cursa sin distinción, siendo un indicador de medición de calidad. Es una revisión científica acerca del impacto del estudiante universitario como un cliente del servicio de educación superior para medir su nivel de satisfacción que tiene una estrecha relación con la calidad educativa que pueda percibir y generar un grado de fidelización visto como un cliente que permita una recomendación del servicio educativo. La metodología es un estudio de revisión de literatura, desplegando como método principal de investigación teórica, la sistematización del conocimiento establecido a partir de tres criterios de indagación y sistematización. Los resultados se reflejaron mediante un análisis exhaustivo teniendo en cuenta que la satisfacción estudiantil impacta en el rendimiento académico universitario. Se concluye que las instituciones educativas valoran y consideran conocer cada vez más la experiencia y percepción del alumno en el aula de clases y su impacto en la satisfacción que pueda tener.

ABSTRACT The present study has the objective of systematizing the different theoretical approaches of the student as a client and its relationship with satisfaction and academic performance, understanding that academic performance is a key factor in an educational institution, to the point of being raised in the program of studies that are taken without distinction, being an indicator of quality measurement. It is a scientific review about the impact of the university student as a client of the higher education service to measure their level of satisfaction that is closely related to the educational quality that they can perceive and generate a degree of loyalty seen as a client that allows a recommendation. of the educational service. The methodology is a literature review study, deploying as the main method of theoretical research, the systematization of knowledge established from three criteria of inquiry and systematization. The results were reflected through an exhaustive analysis taking into account that student satisfaction impacts university academic performance. It is concluded that educational institutions value and consider knowing more and more the experience and perception of the student in the classroom and its impact on the satisfaction that he may have.

Resumen Introducción. Las aguas residuales de la acuicultura constituyen un recurso que se puede utilizar para la irrigación de suelos agrícolas. Objetivo. Evaluar las propiedades físicas, químicas y biológicas de suelos con irrigación continua de aguas residuales de la acuicultura e identificar las variables que aporten mayor información con relación a su comportamiento por la irrigación. Materiales y métodos. Los tratamientos fueron tres suelos agrícolas, localizados al sur del estado de Tlaxcala, México, en el año 2018 se realizó el muestreo de suelo a una profundidad de 0-30 cm y nueve repeticiones para determinar: pH, materia orgánica, conductividad eléctrica, nitrato, amonio, N total, fósforo, potasio, calcio, magnesio, textura, densidad aparente y la actividad microbiana, con las cuales se aplicó un análisis de componentes principales (ACP). Resultados. La irrigación con aguas residuales de la acuicultura incrementó la concentración de fósforo, potasio, calcio, amonio y nitratos. A través del análisis de correlación lineal y el ACP, se obtuvo que el primer componente principal explicó el 76 % de la varianza total, asociado al pH, materia orgánica, arena, N total, potasio, magnesio y amonio; mientras que, el segundo componente explicó el 23 % de la varianza total, ligado al fósforo y a la adsorción por el complejo de cambio que aporta la arcilla. Conclusión. La irrigación con aguas residuales de la acuicultura mejoró la fertilidad del suelo y con el análisis de componentes principales (ACP) se identificaron como variables indicadoras al fósforo, la partícula arcilla y el magnesio, para la toma de decisiones sobre el manejo de los suelos irrigados con aguas residuales de la acuicultura.

Abstract Introduction. Aquaculture wastewater is an important resource that can be used for irrigation of agricultural land. Objective. To evaluate the physical, chemical, and biological properties of soils with continuous irrigation of aquaculture wastewater and to identify the variables that provide more information in regarding their behavior under irrigation. Materials and methods. The treatments were three agricultural soils, located in the south of the state of Tlaxcala, Mexico, in 2018 soil sampling was performed at a depth of 0-30 cm and nine replicates to determine: pH, organic matter, electrical conductivity, nitrate, ammonium, total N, phosphorus, potassium, calcium, magnesium, texture, apparent density, and microbial activity, with which a principal component analysis (PCA) was applied. Results. Irrigation with aquaculture wastewater increased the concentration of phosphorus, potassium, calcium, ammonium, and nitrates. Through linear correlation analysis and PCA, it was obtained that the first principal component explained 76 % of the total variance, associated with pH, organic matter, sand, total N, potassium, magnesium, and ammonium, while the second component explained 23 % of the total variance, linked to phosphorus and adsorption by the exchange complex provided by the clay. Conclusion. Irrigation with aquaculture wastewater improved soil fertility and with the principal component analysis (PCA) phosphorus, clay particle, and magnesium were identified as indicator variables that will support the management of soils irrigated with aquaculture wastewater.

Introduction: SARS-CoV-2 infection generates a higher risk of complications and mortality in previously ill patients, patients with diabetes mellitus have a weaker immune system and the increase in blood glucose can compromise innate immunity and humoral immunity. Therefore, these patients are more susceptible to soft tissue infections. Objective: To describe the evolution and complications of a patient with type II diabetes mellitus with SARS-CoV-2 infection who presented necrotizing fasciitis on the 15th day of disease evolution. Case presentation: A 52-year-old male patient, white, with type II diabetes mellitus and high blood pressure for which he was treated with slow insulin, metformin, enalapril, and hydrochlorothiazide, was admitted as a positive case of COVID-19, at Fifteenth day of stay began with fever, heat and flushing, swelling beyond the area of erythema and crepitus in both lower limbs, surgical intervention was decided. In the operating room, drainage, debridement, and necrectomy were performed on both lower limbs. Microbiological analysis through culture detected the growth of Pantoea agglomerans . Conclusions: Diabetes mellitus, the use of glucocorticoids, were the risk factors found to cause the state of immunosuppression in the case presented, and the use of biological anti-TNF drugs (Nimotuzumab). It is necessary to be insistent on prevention measures: maximum asepsis in the handling of intravenous access, and judicious use of antibiotics.

Introducción: La infección por SARS-CoV-2 genera un mayor riesgo de complicaciones y mortalidad en pacientes previamente enfermos, los pacientes con diabetes mellitus tienen un sistema inmunológico más débil y el aumento de glucosa en sangre puede comprometer la inmunidad innata y la inmunidad humoral, por lo que estos pacientes son más susceptibles a sufrir infecciones de partes blandas. Objetivo: Describir la evolución y complicaciones de un paciente portador de diabetes mellitus tipo II con infección por SARS-CoV-2 que presentó una fascitis necrotizante al 15to día de evolución de la enfermedad. Presentación de caso: Paciente de 52 años de edad, sexo masculino, blanco, portador de diabetes mellitus tipo II e hipertensión arterial para lo cual llevó tratamiento con insulina lenta, metformina, enalapril e hidroclorotiazida, ingresó como caso positivo de COVID-19, al décimo quinto día de estadía comenzó con fiebre, calor y rubor, tumefacción más allá del área de eritema y crepitación en ambos miembros inferiores, se decidió intervención quirúrgica. En el salón de operaciones se realizó drenaje, desbridamiento y necrectomía en ambos miembros inferiores, el análisis microbiológico a través de cultivo detectó el crecimiento de Pantoea Agglomerans. Conclusiones: La diabetes mellitus, el uso de glucocorticoides, fueron los factores de riesgo encontrados como causantes del estado de inmunodepresión en el caso presentado, y el uso de medicamentos biológicos anti-TNF (Nimotuzumab). Es necesario ser insistente en las medidas de prevención: la máxima asepsia en la manipulación de accesos intravenosos, y el uso juicioso de antibióticos.

Na sala cirúrgica foi realizada drenagem, desbridamento e necrectomia em ambos os membros inferiores, a análise microbiológica por meio de cultura detectou o crescimento de Pantoea Aglomerans. Conclusões: Diabetes mellitus, uso de glicocorticóides foram os fatores de risco encontrados para causar o estado de imunossupressão no caso apresentado e uso de drogas biológicas anti-TNF (Nimotuzumab). É preciso insistir nas medidas preventivas: a máxima assepsia no manuseio dos acessos intravenosos e o uso criterioso de antibióticos.

ABSTRACT The objective of this study was to determine the impact of metabolic changes occurring in induced subclinical gestation toxaemia in ewes on metabolic parameters and vigour in the first 72 h of their lambs’ life. Fifty-one adult Corriedale ewes of known gestation date and fed on a natural pasture were randomly divided into four groups at day 145 of gestation. Group A (ewes with single pregnancies) and group C (ewes with twin pregnancies) were fed on a natural pasture throughout the trial; group B (ewes with single pregnancies) and group D (ewes with twin pregnancies) were subjected to 75% feed restriction for three days until they reached glycaemia and β-hydroxybutyrate (BHB) values indicative of subclinical gestational toxaemia. The birth-to-first station and birth-to-first suckling times of the born lambs were studied. Within the first hour after parturition and at 24, 48, and 72 h, glycaemia and BHB concentrations were determined in the blood of lambs, and body temperature and body weight were assessed at the same time. Relative weight gain at 72 h of age was calculated for all lambs. The BHB concentration determined at all times studied showed no difference among the groups. Subclinical gestation toxaemia induced in ewes subjected to feed restriction causes a decrease in the glycaemia of their lambs in the first hour of life; however, it does not cause an increase in ketone bodies. The metabolic changes induced in the mothers do not have negative effects on the vigour of the lambs at birth, as the weight, temperature, and the time it took for lambs to stand and suckle are not affected. ABSTRACT Introduction. The General Cemetery of Camagüey is one of the oldest funeral sites in the country still working. Due to its heritage values, there are studies that, from different angles, are in charge of delving into its cultural history as a preamble to actions for the conservation of its cultural assets. The degradation processes are an imperative. They are increased by its location within the urban fabric that prevents its spatial growth and contributes to aggravating its environmental problems. The present contribution aims to compile the existing investigations of the Camagüey cemetery that allow for knowing its historical, cultural, social, urban, architectural-morphotypological, legal, and artistic evolution. Methods. We started from socio-historical, epistemic and content analysis studies that allow us to delve into the history and values of the cemetery from the investigation into primary sources and their practical verification, to unravel the culture-city-cemetery interconnections, supported by a meticulous observation and evaluation work in situ. Results and Discussion. These investigations allow us to understand the cemetery as a space in which a multiplicity of components and cultural assets converge, where diversity is addressed within the particularity, without obviating the interdependence between the two. They support the foundation of the conservation tasks that are carried out in the cemetery, they allow for establishing intervention priorities based on the knowledge of the values and significance of the cultural assets that compose it. These are the premises of the management plan and management of the site and its declaration as a national monument.

RESUMEN Introducción. El Cementerio General de Camagüey es uno de los sitios funerarios más antiguos del país en pleno funcionamiento. Por sus valores patrimoniales existen estudios que, desde distintas aristas, se encargan de profundizar en su historia cultural como preámbulo de las acciones de conservación de sus bienes culturales. Como imperativo se encuentran los procesos de degradación que se acrecienta por su ubicación dentro de la trama urbana que impide su crecimiento espacial y contribuye a agravar su problemática medioambiental. La presente contribución tiene como objetivo compilar las investigaciones existentes del cementerio camagüeyano que permitan el conocimiento de su evolución histórica, cultural, social, urbana, arquitectónica-morfotipológica, jurídica y artística. Métodos. Se partió de estudios sociohistóricos, epistémicos y de análisis de contenido que permiten profundizar en la historia y valores del cementerio a partir de la indagación en fuentes primarias y su constatación práctica, desentrañar las interconexiones cultura-ciudad-cementerio, apoyados en un minucioso trabajo de observación y evaluación in situ. Resultados y Discusión. Estas investigaciones permiten entender al cementerio como un espacio en el que confluye multiplicidad de exponentes y bienes culturales, donde se atiende la diversidad dentro de la particularidad, sin obviar la interdependencia entre ambos. Sustentan la fundamentación de las tareas de conservación que se ejecutan en el camposanto, permiten establecer prioridades de intervención a partir del conocimiento de los valores y significación de los bienes culturales que lo componen. Son las premisas del plan de manejo y gestión del sitio y de su declaratoria como Monumento Nacional.

Introduction: The main symptoms of this viral infection are fever, dry cough and shortness of breath, but there is an increase in the report of cases of COVID-19 that presented gastrointestinal symptoms and evolved towards severity. Objective: To present a patient with SARS-CoV-2 infection who, from gastrointestinal manifestations, progressed to stages of disease severity and death. Case presentation: Male patient, 55 years old, with a history of high blood pressure for which he was following a treatment schedule with captopril (25 mg) 1 tablet twice a day. He began with general malaise and persistent belching, lasting several hours, fever appeared on the third day and a diagnosis of SARS CoV-2 infection was made . The next day, respiratory distress appeared suddenly while the aforementioned symptoms persisted and the patient progressed to acute respiratory distress syndrome, supported by ventilatory support, but died despite this. Conclusions: Gastrointestinal manifestations are not so infrequent, knowledge of these manifestations allows us to be alert during follow-up and establish an early diagnosis with the aim of reducing complications and the mortality rate in patients with atypical presentations of the disease.

Introducción: Los síntomas principales de esta infección viral son fiebre, tos seca y falta de aire, pero existe un incremento en el reporte de casos de COVID-19 que presentaron síntomas gastrointestinales y evolucionaron hacia la gravedad. Objetivo: Presentar un paciente con infección por SARS-CoV-2 que a partir de las manifestaciones gastrointestinales evolucionó a los estadios de gravedad de la enfermedad y muerte. Presentación de caso: Paciente masculino, de 55 años de edad, con antecedentes de hipertensión arterial para lo cual cumplía esquema de tratamiento con captopril (25 mg) 1 tableta dos veces al día. Comenzó con malestar general y eructos persistentes, de varias horas de evolución, al tercer día apareció la fiebre y se realizó diagnóstico de infección por SARS CoV-2. Al siguiente día la dificultad respiratoria aparece de forma súbita mientras se mantenían los síntomas antes mencionados y el paciente evoluciona al síndrome de dificultad respiratoria agudo, se apoya con soporte ventilatorio, pero a pesar de ello fallece. Conclusiones: Las manifestaciones gastrointestinales no son tan infrecuentes, el conocimiento de estas manifestaciones permite estar alertas en el seguimiento y establecer un diagnóstico precoz con el objetivo de disminuir las complicaciones y la tasa de mortalidad en pacientes con presentaciones atípicas de la enfermedad.

Introdução: Os principais sintomas dessa infecção viral são febre, tosse seca e falta de ar, porém há um aumento no relato de casos de COVID-19 que apresentaram sintomas gastrointestinais e evoluíram para gravidade. Objetivo: Apresentar um paciente com infecção por SARS-CoV-2 que, a partir de manifestações gastrointestinais, evoluiu para estágios de gravidade da doença e óbito. Apresentação do caso: Paciente do sexo masculino, 55 anos, com histórico de hipertensão arterial para o qual seguia esquema terapêutico com captopril (25 mg) 1 comprimido duas vezes ao dia. Começou com mal-estar geral e arrotos persistentes, com duração de várias horas, no terceiro dia apareceu febre e foi feito o diagnóstico de infecção por SARS CoV-2. No dia seguinte, o desconforto respiratório apareceu subitamente enquanto os sintomas mencionados persistiam e o paciente evoluiu para síndrome do desconforto respiratório agudo, sustentado por suporte ventilatório, mas morreu apesar disso. Conclusões: As manifestações gastrointestinais não são incomuns, o conhecimento destas manifestações permite-nos estar atentos no seguimento e estabelecer um diagnóstico precoce com o objetivo de reduzir as complicações e a taxa de mortalidade em doentes com apresentações atípicas da doença.
