ABSTRACT The current experiment aimed to evaluate the effects of Pancreatin supplementation at different levels on ileal and fecal digestibility in layer-type cockerels. A total of 480-day-old silver brown Hy-Line male chicks were randomly allocated into 5 treatments, 6 replicates (16 birds per pen) arranged in a completely randomized design. Pancreatin enzyme was supplemented on a basal corn-soybean meal-based diet at 0, 250, 500, 750, and 1000 mg/kg and was fed in two growth phases (starter and grower). The results indicated that at the end of the starter stage, except for 1000 mg/kg, dietary Pancreatin supplementation levels increased (p<0.05) the ileal crude protein (CP). Similarly, addition of Pancreatin increased (p< 0.05) apparent ileal amino acids (AA) digestibility (AIAAD) total means of AA (MTAA), means of indispensable AA (MIAA) and dispensable AA (MDAA) with the optimum performance on 250 mg/kg and 500 mg/kg. However, except for histidine and alanine which were negatively affected (p<0.05), and MIAA, MDAA, MTAA which were also positively affected, the addition level at 1000 mg/kg did not affect most of the AIAAD compared to the non-supplemented. Further, Pancreatin supplementation had no effect (p>0.05) on nitrogen digestibility (ND), nitrogen retention (NR), digestible energy (DE), apparent metabolizable energy (AME), dry matter digestibility (DMD), dry matter retention (DMR), and apparent metabolizable energy corrected for nitrogen (AME-n) on fed starter diet. On the other hand, at the end of the grower stage, dietary Pancreatin enzyme supplementation reduced (p<0.05) the ileal CP, MIAA, MDAA, MTAA, AIAAD, AME, AME-n, ND, NR, DE, DMD, and DMR in a dose-dependent manner. The rate of reduction was more marked on Pancreatin addition level 1000 mg/kg. In conclusion, Pancreatin supplementation at 250 mg/kg, 500 mg/kg, and 750 mg/kg improved AIAAD and ileal CP, especially at the young age. The rate of pancreatin enzyme effect was dependent on enzyme supplement level to the ileal CP and individual amino acid.

The bottom drainage roadway plays a crucial role in preventing coal and gas outbursts by using underground gas drainage methods. Therefore, it is essential to select the ideal position of the bottom drainage roadway. In this paper use a combination of geological data and numerical simulation to study the ideal position of the bottom drainage roadway, we taking the gas drainage of the first workface of No. 3 coal seam in the Yuxi coal mine in China as an example. The geological study showed a limestone marker layer at an average vertical distance of 14 m from the first mining face. Using this marker layer, the bottom drainage roadway could be excavated without the risk of accidentally exposing the coal seam, and less crosscutting borehole drilling from the bottom drainage roadway would be required. Based on the needs of gas control, the layout of the bottom drainage roadway was selected as an external stagger type. Combined with the numerical simulation results, when located 20 m outside of the mining workface 'footprint' on the horizontal projection, the bottom drainage roadway was a sufficient distance from the stress concentration area during mining of workface 1301, which facilitated roadway maintenance. Furthermore, the length of the crosscutting boreholes is also relatively short, which reduces the amount and cost of drilling. The results of this study are expected to provide a reference for the selection of an ideal position of the bottom drainage roadway in field engineering.

RESUMO O objetivo do presente estudo foi investigar os diferentes metabolitos do plasma entre o cio e o cio pós-parto de vacas leiteiras e fornecer uma base teórica para a prevenção do cio de vacas em fazendas de leite. No experimento, foram selecionadas 127 vacas leiteiras Holstein com idade e paridade similares. De acordo com a concentração de β- ácido hidroxibutírico, ácidos graxos não esterificados e glicose no plasma entre 14 e 21 dias no leite, todas as vacas leiteiras foram determinadas em estado de equilíbrio energético. De acordo com os resultados dos sintomas clínicos, do exame de ultra-som retal e B aos 60 a 90 dias pós-parto, estas vacas foram divididas em vinte cios e vinte e quatro grupos de cio, outras vacas leiteiras foram removidas. A tecnologia de ressonância magnética nuclear 1H foi utilizada para detectar as alterações dos metabólitos plasmáticos e para triar diferentes metabólitos plasmáticos entre as vacas do cio e do cio. Dez diferentes metabólitos incluindo alanina, ácido glutâmico, asparagina, creatina, colina, fosfocholina, glicerofosfocolina, lipoproteína de baixa densidade e lipoproteína de muito baixa densidade foram significativamente diminuídos nas vacas antróficas em comparação com as vacas estro. As análises da via metabólica indicaram que os metabólitos diferenciais estavam principalmente envolvidos no metabolismo de aminoácidos e glicerofosfolipídios. Estes metabólitos e suas vias de enriquecimento indicam que a redução dos precursores da síntese de hormônios esteróides resulta em níveis mais baixos de estradiol e progesterona e causa anestros no balanço energético negativo. Estes dados fornecem uma melhor compreensão das mudanças que podem afetar o cio das vacas leiteiras pós-parto no estado de NEB e preparam o terreno para mais pesquisas.

ABSTRACT The objective of the present study was to investigate the different plasma metabolites between anestrus and estrus postpartum dairy cows and to provide a theoretical basis for prevention of anestrus in dairy farm cows. In the experiment, one hundred and sixty-seven Holstein dairy cows were selected with similar age and parity. According to the concentration of β-hydroxybutyric acid, non-esterified fatty acids and glucose in plasma during 14 to 21 days in milk, all dairy cows were determined as having a status of energy balance. According to the results of clinical symptom, rectal and B ultrasound examination at 60 to 90 days postpartum, these cows were divided into twenty estrus and twenty-four anestrus group, other dairy cows were removed. 1H nuclear magnetic resonance technology was utilized to detect the plasma metabolites changes and screen different plasma metabolites between anestrus and estrus cows. Ten different metabolites including alanine, glutamic acid, asparagine, creatine, choline, phosphocholine, glycerophosphocholine, low-density lipoprotein, and very-low-density lipoprotein were significantly decreased in anestrous cows compared with estrous cows. Metabolic pathway analyses indicated that differential metabolites were primarily involved in amino acid and glycerophospholipid metabolism. These metabolites and their enrichment pathways indicate that reduced steroid hormone synthesis precursors result in lower levels of estradiol and progesterone and cause anestrus in negative energy balance. These data provide a better understanding of the changes that may affect estrus of postpartum dairy cows at NEB status and lay the ground for further research.

ABSTRACT We assessed the effect of health sand dietary supplementation with methionine (Met) on White King pigeons. Paired pigeons (n = 180) were fed one of five diets; group T1 received no added Met, while T2, T3, T4 and T5 received 30, 60, 90 and 120 g of supplemental DL-Met/kg, respectively. Each treatment was replicated three times with 24 pairs in each replicate. The results showed that supplementary Met had a minor effect on the length of the fourth primary wing feather in 28-day-old squabs (p>0.05), but the length of 14-day-old squabs in T2 was significantly longer (p=0.010). Dietary Met had a minor effect on Wnt-7a and fibroblast growth factor receptors-2 (FGFR-2) mRNA levels in 28-day-old squabs (p>0.05). The IGF-1 concentration in plasma was highest in T4 and lowest in T2 (p=0.012), but there was no difference between T1, T2 and T5 (p>0.05). In the chest muscle, the expression of IGF-1 in T3 and T4 was higher than in T1 (p=0.172 and 0.015, respectively). In the leg muscle, IGF-1 mRNA level was higher in T4 and T3, and lower in T2 (p>0.05). The results indicate that the optimal Met supplement for increasing fourth primary wing feather length was 30 g/kg Met in health sand, and the feathers were the longest in 14-day-old squabs. Adding 90 g/kg Met to health sand can improve the concentration of IGF-1, which is important for growth performance of pigeon squabs.

Both theoretical and field research have shown that protective layer mining with pressure-relief gas extraction in protected coal seams is an effective and economical way of controlling coal and gas outbursts in underground mines. Given the influences of coal seam angles, layer spacing, pressure-relief angles, coal pillars, and other factors in the protected areas of protected seams, the protection range is often smaller than the area of protective seam mining. This problem can be solved by using a gas drainage method based on coal seam geology and the conditions of coalbed methane (CBM) occurrence during protective layer mining. If a protective layer is prone to outbursts, crossing boreholes and bedding boreholes can be used to eliminate outburst hazards. The crossing boreholes should control the upper side of the roadway contour for at least 20 m and the lower side for at least 10 m. For other coal seams, the boreholes should control both sides of the roadway contour for at least 15 m. Crossing boreholes can not only extract CBM from the protective layer but can also extract from the protected coal seam, thus leading to a larger protection range in the protective layer than that predicted by the pressure-relief boundary, as well as expanding the protection range. The actual protection range of the protected layer was determined using an index of residual gas content. The results of the study indicate that the pressure-relief angle increased from 56° to 69° in the strike direction and from 75° to 90° in the inclination direction. The protection range was approximately equal to the mining area of the working face of the protective layer, thereby extending the protection range. One of the important reasons for protection range expansion was the influence of gas drainage via crossing boreholes. The protection range extension mitigated the outburst danger over a large area of the coal seam, thus enabling high efficiency and safe exploitation.

Four main longwall panel systems are used in China: conventional longwall top coal caving (CLTCC), multi-slice longwall mining (MLM), high-seam longwall mining (HSLM), and longwall mining with split-level gateroads (LMSG). Theoretical analyses and physical modelling studies were carried out to investigate the interaction between vertical stress distribution within the goaf and surrounding rock mass in these systems. These studies were supported by numerical analyses and validated by field observation. The difficulty in numerical analysis for longwalls lies in goaf modelling, and research on this is rare. Reasonableness and correctness of numerical modelling is highly dependent on goaf behaviour. A complete and detailed numerical model of stress distribution within the goaf and surrounding rock mass is presented in this paper. A double-yield constitutive model, which is best fitted by Salamon's model that was obtained through laboratory tests, is used to simulate the goaf. The angle of break obtained through physical modelling was also incorporated into numerical modelling, which is closer to practice. The modelling shows that: (1) the more load the goaf bears, the less the abutment pressure and vice versa; (2) the abutment pressure, stress concentration factor, and yield zones would be larger without considering goaf behaviour; (3) goaf pressures in the curved section employing HSLM and LMSG are larger than in MLM and CLTCC; (4) when one slice is being extracted in MLM, the goaf pressure is greater than with any other methods, and the high-stress zone and yield zone are smaller; (5) the goaf edge is the most destressed zone in the entire panel system of the four mining methods. Field observation shows that the intake entry in LMSG has a favorable stress environment. Ground control problems such as severe deformation and bursts in the entry are therefore minimized, which in turn validates the theoretical and modelling analyses.

The present experiment was designed to determine the efficacy of a commercial source of chitosan (CS) to enhance performance, anti-oxidative function, and immune response in weaned pigs. A total of 60 crossbreed piglets (Duroc × Landrace × Yorkshire), with average live bodyweight of 8.85 ± 1.52 kg, were weaned at 28 ± 2 days and randomly assigned to five treatment groups, which were fed maize-soybean meal diets containing 0 (basal diet, control) and 250, 500, 1000, and 2000 mg/kg CS. The experiment lasted for two weeks. Body weight was recorded and daily feed intake was calculated. Faecal consistency was monitored for the overall period. After two weeks, blood samples were collected and anti-oxidative and immune parameters were determined. The results showed that CS improved average daily gain and daily gain: daily feed intake during the experiment. Mean faecal score values for the second week were improved by CS, which showed decreased values compared with the control diet. The CS increased the total antioxidant capacity and the activities of superoxide dismutase, catalase and glutathione peroxidase and the content of reduced glutathione in serum, and decreased the malondialdehyde and cortisol contents of serum. Furthermore, CS increased the levels of serum IL-1β，IL-2 and IgG. These findings suggested that the use of CS improved performance and anti-oxidative function, and regulated the immune response of weaned pigs.

RESUMO: O efeito de atrazina e mesotrione e da atividade conjunta de atrazina mais mesotrione no pigmento, n a peroxidação lipídica e na atividade da enzima antioxidante foi estudado. Os tratamentos com atrazina e mesotrione reduziram significativamente as concentrações de clorofila a (Clf a), de clorofila b (Clf b), de carotenoides e o teor de proteína em plantas de grama-seda (Cynodon dactylon L.), mas aumentaram significativamente a peroxidação lipídica. O tratamento com atrazina mais mesotrione causou maior efeito fitotóxico na grama-seda do que o herbicida isolado, o que foi evidenciado pela diminuição significativa da estabilidade da membrana em função dos teores de oxigênio singlete e malondialdeído (MDA), bem como pela maior redução dos teores de Clf a, Clf b e carotenoides. Embora a grama-seda ativasse as enzimas antioxidantes catalase (CAT), peroxidase (POD) e glutationa S-transferase (GST), ela foi significativamente danificada após os tratamentos com herbicidas. Assim, os resultados sugerem que os antioxidantes enzimáticos e não enzimáticos da grama-seda foram sobrecarregados após o tratamento com atrazina mais mesotrione, e as espécies reativas de oxigênio (ERO) causaram peroxidação lipídica, degradação de pigmentos e proteínas, além de outros danos a constituintes celulares.

ABSTRACT: The effect of atrazine, mesotrione, and joint activity of atrazine plus mesotrione on pigment, lipid peroxidation, and antioxidant enzyme activity was studied. Atrazine and mesotrione treatments significantly reduced chlorophyll a (Chl a), chlorophyll b (Chl b), carotenoid concentrations, and protein content in bermudagrass (Cynodon dactylon L.) plants, whereas they significantly enhanced lipid peroxidation. The treatment of atrazine plus mesotrione caused greater phototoxic effect on bermudagrass than either herbicide alone, which was evident from the significantly decreased membrane stability noted as a function of the enhanced singlet oxygen and malondialdehyde (MDA) contents, as well as from the greater reduction in Chl a, Chl b, and carotenoid contents. Although bermudagrass activated the antioxidant enzymes catalase (CAT), peroxidase (POD), and glutathione S-transferase (GST), it was significantly injured after the herbicide treatments. Thus, results suggested that the enzymatic and non-enzymatic antioxidants of bermudagrass was overloaded after the treatment of atrazine plus mesotrione, and the reactive oxygen species (ROS) subsequently caused lipid peroxidation, pigment and protein degradation, as well as other cellular constituent damage.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the clinical and radiographic outcomes of upper thoracic (UT) versus lower thoracic (LT) upper instrumented vertebrae (UIV) for adult scoliosis by meta-analysis. We conducted a literature search in three databases to retrieve related studies up to March 15, 2017. The preliminary screened studies were assessed by two reviewers according to the selection criteria. All analyses were carried out using the statistical software package R version 2.31. Odds ratios (OR) with 95% confidence intervals (CI) were used to describe the results. The I2 statistic and Q statistic test were used for heterogeneity assessment. Egger's test was performed to detect publication bias. To assess the effect of each study on the overall pooled OR or standardized mean difference (SMD), sensitive analysis was conducted. Ten trials published between 2007 and 2015 were eligible and included in our study. Meta-analysis revealed that the UT group was associated with more blood loss (SMD=0.4779, 95%CI=0.3349-0.6209, Z=6.55, P<0.0001) and longer operating time (SMD=0.5780, 95%CI=0.1971-0.958, Z=2.97, P=0.0029) than the LT group. However, there was no significant difference in Oswestry Disability Index, Scoliosis Research Society (SRS) function subscores, radiographic outcomes including sagittal vertical axis, lumbar lordosis, and thoracic kyphosis, length of hospital stay, and revision rates between the two groups. No evidence of publication bias was found between the two groups. Fusion from the lower thoracic spine (below T10) has as advantages a shorter operation time and less blood loss than upper thoracic spine (above T10) in posterior long-segment fixation for degenerative lumbar scoliosis.

The aim of this study was to discuss the safety and efficacy of regional citrate anticoagulation (RCA) on continuous blood purification (CBP) during the treatment of multiple organ dysfunction syndrome (MODS). Thirty-five patients with MODS were divided into two groups: the local citrate anticoagulation (RCA) group, and the heparin-free blood purification (hfBP) group. The MODS severity was assessed according to Marshall’s MODS score criteria. Blood coagulation indicators, blood pressure, filter lifespan, filter replacement frequency, anticoagulation indicators, and main metabolic and electrolyte indicators were analyzed and compared between RCA and hfBP groups. RCA resulted in lower blood pressure than hfBP. The filter efficacy in RCA treatment was longer than in the hfBP group. The blood clearance of creatine, blood urea nitrogen and uric acid was better in the RCA group. RCA also led to higher pH than hfBP. Neither treatment resulted in severe bleeding events. In addition, MODS score was positively correlated with prothrombin time and activated partial thromboplastin time but negatively correlated with platelet concentration. RCA is a safer and more effective method in CBP treatment; however, it could also lead to low blood pressure and blood alkalosis.

The receptor activator of nuclear factor κB ligand (RANKL)/RANK pathway plays an important role in the prognosis of several solid tumor types, but its role in gastric cancer prognosis has been poorly characterized. A total of 116 gastric cancer patients who underwent surgical resection were enrolled in this study. Expressions of RANKL and RANK in gastric cancer tissues were detected using immunohistochemical staining. Thirty-eight patients (33%) showed a high level of RANKL expression and 61 patients (53%) showed a high level of RANK expression. There was a positive correlation between expressions of RANKL and RANK (P=0.014, r=0.221). A high level of RANKL expression indicated shorter overall survival (OS) (P=0.008), and was associated with a higher pathological tumor/lymph node/metastasis (pTNM) stage (P=0.035), while no significant correlation was detected between RANK expression and clinicopathological parameters. RANKL also predicted poor prognosis in patients with high RANK expression (P=0.008) and Bormann's type III/IV (P=0.002). Furthermore, RANKL expression correlated with pTNM stage according to high RANK expression (P=0.009), while no significance was found in patients with low RANK expression (P=1.000). Together, our results revealed that high expression of RANKL could predict worse outcomes in gastric cancer especially combined with RANK detection, and thereby this pathway could be a useful prognostic indicator of gastric cancer.

Cover stress re-establishment has a significant influence on the deformation and development of permeability in the fractured rock mass, which control the surface subsidence and water inflow after longwall caving mining. This paper reviews previous studies on cover stress re-establishment in the goaf after coal mining, and proposes a new analytical model based on the stress-strain characteristics of the caved rock mass and the voussoir beam theory. A scale model test is also conducted to study the cover stress re-establishment based on a coal mining case. A function was derived for cover stress re-establishment in the goaf, which can be approximately described as a logarithmic function and which agreed well with two completely re-established monitoring sites from the scale model test. The scale model test also indicated that cover stress reestablishment presents a hysteresis phenomenon. A 'stress balance' model was built for calculating the distance of cover stress re-establishment in the goaf, and the result from the model was lower than the results from the previous two methods. The cover stress re-establishment function and the 'stress balance' model will be of great significance for a better understanding of the stress distribution in the goaf.

ABSTRACT Purpose: Grades III and IV haemorrhoids have been preferentially treated with surgery for years. The decision to pursue surgical therapy for haemorrhoids is based on the severity of symptoms and the traditional classification of haemorrhoid prolapse. In this study, an alternative technique known as hand-sewn haemorrhoidopexy (HHP) was conducted using a modified anoscope. Methods: A total of 51 patients requiring surgical treatment for grades III and IV prolapsing haemorrhoids were treated by HHP. Hospitalstay duration, costs, time of work-off, operative time, wound healing-time, complications and outcomes were recorded after the operation. Results: Shorter wound healing-time and lower complication rates were observed after the patients were subjected to HHP. These patients also exhibited better tolerance for the operation and incurred significantly lower costs than patients who were treated with other therapies. Conclusions: Hand-sewn haemorrhoidopexy using is a safe, effective and painless surgical procedure to treat patients with grades III and IV or mixed haemorrhoids.

RESUMEN Propósito: Las hemorroides de grados III y IV han sido preferentemente tratadas mediante cirugía durante muchos años. La decisión de continuar la terapia quirúrgica para las hemorroides se basa en la severidad de los síntomas y la clasificación tradicional del prolapso hemorroidal. En este estudio, se llevó a cabo una técnica alternativa conocida como hemorroidopexia por sutura manual(HPM) mediante un anoscopio modificado. Métodos: Un totalde 51 pacientes que requerían tratamiento quirúrgico de hemorroides prolapsadas de grados III y IV fueron tratados por HPM. Tras la operación se registraron la duración de la estancia hospitalaria, los costos, el tiempo de trabajo, el tiempo de operación, el tiempo de curación de las heridas, las complicaciones, y los resultados. Resultados: En los pacientes fueron operados con HPM, se observó un menor tiempo de curación de las heridas, y tasas de complicaciones más bajas. Estos pacientes mostraron también una mejor tolerancia de la operación y tuvieron costos significativamente más bajos que los pacientes que fueron tratados con otras terapias. Conclusiones: Hemorroidopexia manuales un procedimiento quirúrgico seguro, eficaz e indoloro con el cual tratar a los pacientes con hemorroides de grados III y IV, o hemorroides mixtas.

ABSTRACT Objective: The objective of the study was to investigate the epidemiology of paediatric hand injuries treated in emergency departments (EDs) in Foshan City, as well as to supply data for the development of preventive strategies in South China and similar developing areas. Methods: From July 2010 to June 2011, a multicentre study was prospectively designed and conducted in five large hospital EDs in Foshan. An anonymous questionnaire was specially designed for data collection. Results: A total of 317 (95.48%) subjects with paediatric hand injuries completed questionnaires within the one-year study period. Most subjects were injured at home or work (40.69% vs 36.60%). The majority of paediatric hand injuries occurred in daily activities (164, 51.74%) or were caused by crushing (144, 45.43%). There were significant statistical differences among age groups and places of occurrence (p < 0.05). Most subjects got their fingers injured (174, 54.89%). About 116 (36.59%) subjects were injured while at work and 106 (91.38%) subjects had medical insurance. About 59 (50.86%) subjects had < 0.5 year of job tenure. However, only less than half of the subjects (46.55%) had the related experience of safety training. Upon the occurrence of hand injuries, the subjects had been working for 4.49 ± 3.05 hours without rest. Among them, 19 (5.99%) subjects were younger than 16 years old and should not be employed, according to the Chinese labour law. Conclusions: Epidemiology data enhance our knowledge of paediatric hand injuries and facilitate prevention and treatment in the future, thus reducing loss of hand function as well as psychological and economic burden.

RESUMEN Objetivo: El objetivo del estudio fue investigar la epidemiología de las lesiones de mano pediátricas tratadas en departamentos de emergencias (DE) en la ciudad de Foshan, así como suministrar datos para el desarrollo de estrategias preventivas en el sur de China y áreas de desarrollo similar. Métodos: De julio de 2010 a junio de 2011 de junio, se diseñó y realizó prospectivamente un estudio multicéntrico en cinco DE hospitalarios mayores de Foshan. Un cuestionario anónimo fue especialmente diseñado para la recolección de datos. Resultados: Un total de 317 (95.48%) sujetos con lesiones de mano pediátricas completaron cuestionarios dentro del período de estudio de un año. La mayoría de los sujetos recibieron lesiones en el hogar o en el trabajo (40.69% vs 36.60%). La mayoría de las lesiones de mano pediátricas ocurrieron en actividades diarias (164, 51.74%) o fueron causadas por aplastamiento (144, 45.43%). Hubo diferencias estadísticas significativas entre los grupos por edad y los lugares de ocurrencia (p < 0.05). La mayoría de los sujetos se lesionaron los dedos (174, 54.89%). Alrededor de 116 (36.59%) sujetos resultaron heridos durante el trabajo y 106 (91.38%) sujetos tenían seguro médico. Alrededor de 59 (50.86%) sujetos tenían < 0.5 año de permanencia en el empleo. Sin embargo, sólo menos de la mitad de los sujetos (46.55%) tenían experiencia en relación con entrenamiento de seguridad. Cuando ocurrieron las lesiones en las manos, los sujetos habían estado trabajando por 4.49 ± 3.05 horas sin descanso. Entre ellos, 19 (5.99%) sujetos tenían menos de 16 años de edad, y no debían estar empleados de acuerdo con las leyes laborales en China. Conclusiones: Los datos epidemiológicos mejoran nuestro conocimiento sobre las lesiones de mano pediátricas, y facilitan la prevención y el tratamiento futuros, reduciendo así la pérdida de la función de la mano y la consiguiente carga psicológica y económica.

We investigated the risk factors for pulmonary hypertension (PH) in patients receiving maintenance peritoneal dialysis (MPD). A group of 180 end-stage renal disease patients (124 men and 56 women; mean age: 56.43±8.36) were enrolled in our study, which was conducted between January 2009 and June 2014. All of the patients received MPD treatment in the Dialysis Center of the Second Affiliated Hospital of Soochow University. Clinical data, laboratory indices, and echocardiographic data from these patients were collected, and follow-ups were scheduled bi-monthly. The incidence and relevant risk factors of PH were analyzed. The differences in measurement data were compared by t-test and enumeration data were compared with the χ2 test. Among the 180 patients receiving MPD, 60 were diagnosed with PH. The remaining 120 were regarded as the non-PH group. Significant differences were observed in the clinical data, laboratory indices, and echocardiographic data between the PH and non-PH patients (all P<0.05). Furthermore, hypertensive nephropathy patients on MPD showed a significantly higher incidence of PH compared with non-hypertensive nephropathy patients (P<0.05). Logistic regression analysis showed that the proportion of internal arteriovenous fistula, C-reactive protein levels, and ejection fraction were the highest risk factors for PH in patients receiving MPD. Our study shows that there is a high incidence of PH in patients receiving MPD and hypertensive nephropathy patients have an increased susceptibility to PH.
