O trabalho teve como objetivo apresentar uma proposta de metodologia para estimativa da curva de retenção de água, para solos do Estado do Rio Grande do Sul, a partir do uso de redes neurais artificiais. Para o desenvolvimento do trabalho, foi montado um banco de dados com informações disponíveis na literatura, de textura e estrutura dos solos do Estado do Rio Grande do Sul. Para o desenvolvimento das redes, utilizou-se o software Matlab, no qual foram treinadas diferentes arquiteturas, variando os números de neurônios na camada de entrada e camada intermediária. A eficiência das redes foi analisada graficamente pela relação 1:1, entre os dados estimados versus os observados, por meio de indicadores estatísticos. Observou-se, a partir dos resultados, que a arquitetura com melhor capacidade preditiva foi: 4-24-7, com classificação do índice de desempenho "ótimo". Assim, pode-se inferir que o uso de redes neurais, para estimativa da curva de retenção de água no solo, é uma ferramenta com alta capacidade preditiva e que trará grande contribuição ao setor agrícola.

The study aims to propose a methodology for estimating the water retention curve for soils of the State of Rio Grande do Sul, by using artificial neural networks. For the development of the research it was assembled a database with information available in the literature, texture and structure of soils of Rio Grande do Sul. The modeling was developed using the software Matlab, where the networks were trained with different architectures, varying the numbers of neurons in the input layer and the hidden layer. The efficiency of the network was analyzed graphically by the ratio 1:1 between the estimated versus the observed data by means of statistical indicators. It was observed from the results that the architecture with best predictive performance was the 4-24-7, with index classification of "great" performance. Thus it can be inferred that the use of neural networks to estimate the water retention curve of the soil is a tool with high predictive ability which will bring great contribution to the agricultural sector.

O presente trabalho teve como objetivo avaliar o consumo de água em oito substratos (casca de arroz carbonizada - CAC, cinza da casca de arroz queimada - CZ, fibra de coco - FC, terra do paraíso - TP, TP+CAC, TP+CZ, FC+CAC e FC+CZ) e definir qual desses substratos é melhor para produção comercial de lírio asiático "Orange Pixie®", cultivado em vaso e condições de ambiente protegido. O experimento foi conduzido em casa de vegetação, no Departamento de Fitotecnia da UFSM, Santa Maria, RS. O delineamento experimental foi inteiramente casualizado, utilizando-se 12 repetições e três plantas por vaso para determinar a freqüência de irrigação e o consumo de água. Para as avaliações dos parâmetros, estipularam-se limites de no mínimo 60% e no máximo de 80% da capacidade de recipiente, verificado diariamente em balança digital. As determinações realizadas nos substratos foram: densidade do substrato, porosidade total, espaço de aeração e água disponível. Na planta foram determinados os seguintes parâmetros: altura da planta e da inserção da primeira flor, número de folhas e flores, distância entrenó, comprimento médio das folhas e pétalas, largura média das folhas e pétalas, consumo total de água e freqüência de irrigação. Os resultados evidenciaram que o lírio asiático "Orange Pixie®" em vaso se adapta para cultivo em substrato de terra do paraíso e na mistura fibra de coco mais cinza de casca de arroz. Estes substratos apresentaram um consumo médio de água de 121,65 e 106,78mL e freqüência de irrigação de 22 e 21 dias, respectivamente. A melhor combinação não foi a que mais consumiu água, mas a que exigiu maior freqüência de irrigações.

This study aimed to evaluate the consumption of water in eight substrates (rice hulls - CAC, rice husk ash burned - CZ, coconut fiber - CF, land of paradise - TP, TP+CAC, TP+CZ , FC+CAC and FC+CZ) and define which of these substrates are the best for commercial production of Asiatic Lily 'Orange Pixie® ", grown in pots at protected conditions. The experiment was conducted in a greenhouse at the Department of Plant Science, UFSM, Santa Maria, RS. The experimental design was completely randomized using 12 replications and three plants per pot to determine the frequency of irrigation and water consumption. For evaluation of the parameters, it is stipulated limits of at least 60% and a maximum of 80% capacity of the container, checked daily using a digital scale. Measurements were performed on the substrates: the substrate density, total porosity, aeration and water space available. In plants, the following parameters were measured: plant height and insertion of the first flower, number of leaves and flowers, internode distance, average length of leaves and petals, average width of leaves and petals, total water consumption and irrigation frequency. The results showed that the Asiatic Lily 'Orange Pixie® "pot is suited for cultivation in the land of paradise substrate and coir mixture over rice husk ash. These substrates had an average water consumption of 121.65 and 106.78mL and irrigation frequency of 22 and 21 days respectively. The best combination was not the one consumed most water, but that one that required more frequent irrigation.

A produção de óleos essenciais apresenta-se crescente no Brasil, especialmente devido aos benefícios que determinadas substâncias contidas nesses podem acrescentar à saúde e à gama de produtos cosméticos, de higiene e fármacos que são originários de seu processamento. Baseado nessas condições e na vasta área no Rio Grande do Sul onde está sendo implantada a cultura do eucalipto o presente estudo busca formas de dinamizar a estrutura econômica da cultura, buscando a geração de novas oportunidades de negócios através da extração do óleo contido na parte foliar do eucalipto, subproduto da indústria papeleira, atual principal interesse econômico da cultura. Partindo desses pressupostos, elaborou-se um projeto conceitual de equipamento móvel que fosse capaz de atender à demanda de processamento da cultura, determinando um fluxograma de processamento e adequando os equipamentos para atender a essa demanda. Posteriormente, avaliou-se a viabilidade técnica e econômica da implantação do sistema de extração móvel para óleo essencial de eucalipto, na região Sul do Rio Grande do Sul, realizando estudos técnicos para o aprimoramento e fechamento de projeto conceitual e análise de viabilidade econômica para determinação das variáveis que discriminam o êxito do projeto. Conclui-se que o projeto conceitual apresenta aspectos vantajosos, em especial quanto à mobilidade, flexibilidade de utilização, minimização de espaços ociosos e uso de água em circuito semifechado. Na análise de viabilidade econômica, os cenários simulados apresentam valores positivos para Valor Presente Líquido, Taxa Interna de Retorno acima da Taxa Mínima de Atratividade e Tempo de Retorno do Capital relativamente reduzido, mesmo para o cenário considerado crítico.

The production of essential oils has become increasing in Brazil, especially considering the benefits that certain substances can add to health and range of cosmetics, toiletries and drugs that originate in its processing. Based on these conditions and in the vast area of the Rio Grande do Sul where it is being implanted the culture of eucalyptus, this study seeks ways to boost the economic structure of culture, seeking to generate new business opportunities through the extraction of oil contained in the leaves Eucalyptus, a byproduct of the paper industry, the current main economic interest of culture. Based on these assumptions, it was elaborated a conceptual design of a mobile equipment able to meet the processing demand of the crop, determining a diagram processing flow and fitting the equipment to meet this demand. Subsequently, it was evaluated the technical and economic feasibility of deploying the mobile extraction system for essential oil of eucalyptus in the southern region of Rio Grande do Sul, conducting technical studies for the improvement and efficiency of the conceptual design and economic feasibility analysis to determine variables that determine the success of the project. It was conclude that the conceptual design has beneficial aspects, especially regarding the mobility, flexibility of use, minimization of empty spaces and water use in semi-closed circuit. In the analysis of economic feasibility, the simulated scenarios showed positive values for Net Present Value, Internal Rate of Return above the minimum rate of attractiveness and capital Payback relatively short, even for the scenarios considered critical.

O estudo do desenvolvimento foliar é de grande importância para a avaliação do crescimento e desenvolvimento das plantas. O objetivo deste trabalho foi quantificar as consequências dos diferentes níveis do manejo de água de irrigação sobre o crescimento foliar e o número de folhas do Kalanchoe. O delineamento experimental utilizado foi inteiramente casualizado, com oito tratamentos de irrigação (15; 13; 11; 9; 8; 6; 4 e 2mm) e dez repetições. A área foliar das plantas foi calculada por meio do produto do comprimento e da largura de cada folha, multiplicada pelo coeficiente de 1,1134. Os resultados mostraram que as lâminas de irrigação entre 6 e 9mm apresentaram maior crescimento foliar e maior número de folhas por planta. A máxima eficiência técnica foi encontrada com lâminas de 6,68 e 8,59mm, para área foliar e número de folhas por planta, respectivamente. Em condições de déficit hídrico, o Kalanchoe reduz expressivamente sua elongação foliar transversal em relação à longitudinal.

The research about the leaf development is very important to evaluate the plants growth and development. The objective of this research was to verify the different level consequences about the irrigation water manner in the leaf growth and the number of the Kalanchoe leaves. The experimental search used was completely randomized, with eight treatments, they consisted in 15; 13; 11; 9; 8; 6; 4 e 2mm irrigation in ten repetitions. The plants leaf area was calculated by the area of each leaf, multiplied by the coefficient of 1.1134. The results showed that the irrigation length between 6 and 9mm showed a bigger leaf growth and more leaves in each plant; the biggest technical efficiency was found with 6.68 and 8.59mm length, to each leaf area and the leaves number in leaf/plant, respectively. In a water condition deficit the Kalanchoe reduces a lot the leaf transversal growth related to the longitudinal.
