RESUMO O objetivo deste estudo foi produzir análise multimodal exploratória sobre a atenção compartilhada. Utilizou-se a ferramenta ELAN (EUDICO Language Annotator), software com recursos para sincronização temporal e especiais para modalidades verbal e não verbal, que facilitam a visualização e anotação de contextos interacionais. Foram analisados e transcritos trechos de dez minutos de sessão de avaliação fonoaudiológica de uma criança em investigação para transtorno do espectro do autismo (TEA) e outra, com desenvolvimento típico, pareadas por faixa etária e gênero. Foram investigadas e quantificadas as ocorrências espontâneas de direcionamento do olhar das crianças para: os olhos do interlocutor; os brinquedos e/ou brincadeiras; os olhos do interlocutor – brinquedos (atenção compartilhada). As ocorrências de direcionamento do olhar diferiram entre as crianças de forma quantitativa e qualitativa. A criança com suspeita de TEA não produziu episódio de atenção compartilhada, nem direcionou seu olhar para o interlocutor. Foram 56 ocorrências de direcionamentos de olhar apenas para os brinquedos. A criança em desenvolvimento típico produziu 18 ocorrências de atenção compartilhada, sendo que, em todas as vezes que direcionou o olhar para os olhos do interlocutor, o fez para compartilhar o brinquedo ou brincadeira. Observou-se, ainda, 37 ocorrências de direcionamento do olhar para o brinquedo. A partir da análise exploratória produzida pela ferramenta ELAN, foi possível observar que houve diferença em número de ocorrência e trajetória do olhar entre as duas crianças e verificar que a atenção compartilhada esteve ausente na criança com risco para TEA.

ABSTRACT The aim of this study was to produce exploratory multimodal analysis on joint attention. We used the ELAN tool: software with resources for temporal and special synchronization for verbal and non-verbal modalities that facilitate the visualization and annotation of interactional contexts. Excerpts of ten minutes of speech and language pathology evaluation of the child with suspected ASD and of another child with typical development matched by age group and gender, were analyzed and transcribed. Spontaneous occurrences of the child's gaze were investigated: a) Towards the interlocutor's eyes. b) Towards toys or play. c) Towards the interlocutor's eyes and toys (Joint Attention). The occurrences of look direction differed between children in a quantitative and qualitative way. The child with suspected ASD did not produce an episode of joint attention, nor did he direct his gaze to the interlocutor. There were 56 occurrences of gazing towards the toys. The typical child produced 18 occurrences of joint attention, and whenever he directed his eyes to the interlocutor's eyes, he did so with the intention of sharing the toy or play. We also observed 37 occurrences of gazing towards the toy or play. From the exploratory analysis produced by ELAN tool, it was possible to observe that there were differences in the number of occurrences and look direction between the evaluated children and to verify that the joint attention was absent in the child with ASD risk.

ABSTRACT Purpose: to analyze the use of digital resources by Brazilian phonoaudiologists before and during the period of the COVID-19 pandemic. Methods: cross-sectional study carried out with a representative sample of Brazilian phonoaudiologists, with at least one year of practical experience. An online questionnaire consisting of 28 questions divided into eight sections was prepared. Data were analyzed and are reported as absolute and relative frequency regarding the variables: respondent’s age, highest degree and years of experience; weekly working hours; region of the country; type of service and area of expertise; use of digital means before and during the pandemic and willingness to use the same kind of resource after the pandemic. Results: telehealth technologies were used by 90% of phonoaudiologists in Brazil since before the COVID-19 pandemic. A change in the profile of technologies used was observed: after the pandemic, videoconferences gained more use in contact with patients compared to the pre-pandemic period even though contact via mobile phone and instant messaging applications are the most used, both before and during the pandemic. Conclusion: the study's findings demonstrate that 90% of phonoaudiologists who answered the questionnaire in Brazil used and still make use of telehealth technologies to contact patients.

RESUMO Objetivo O objetivo deste estudo foi analisar a repercussão da implementação do PECS no índice de sobrecarga de mães de crianças com Transtorno do Espectro do Autismo (TEA). Método Trata-se de um estudo longitudinal (CEP 0403/2017). A amostra foi constituída por 20 díades mães-crianças com TEA. As mães tinham em média, 41 anos e 5 meses e as crianças, 7 anos e 2 meses. Quinze crianças eram do gênero masculino e cinco, do feminino. Foi aplicada a versão brasileira da escala Burden Interview cujo objetivo é a verificação do nível de sobrecarga dos cuidadores. Para análise dos comportamentos não-adaptativos aplicou-se o Autism Behavior Checklist (ABC) e para análise do repertório lexical: os Testes de Vocabulário Auditivo e Expressivo. O Programa de Implementação do PECS foi composto por 24 sessões de terapia fonoaudiológica individual com a presença ativa das mães. Ao final do Programa todas as crianças e suas respectivas mães foram reavaliadas com parte dos instrumentos utilizados na fase inicial do estudo. Resultados Houve tendência de redução dos índices de sobrecarga materna após a implementação do PECS. Notamos diminuição significativa dos comportamentos não-adaptativos e aumento dos índices de vocabulário expressivo e auditivo das crianças no momento final do estudo. Não observamos correlação significativa entre os índices de sobrecarga com a idade, escolaridade e quociente intelectual das crianças; nem com a escolaridade e nível socioeconômico materno. Conclusão Foi possível analisar a repercussão da implementação do PECS na sobrecarga de mães de crianças com TEA assistidas pelo Programa.

ABSTRACT Purpose The aim of this study was to analyze the repercussion of the implementation of PECS on the burden index of mothers of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Methods This was a longitudinal study (CEP 0403/2017). The sample consisted of 20 mother and child with ASD. The mothers were on average 41 years and 5 months and the children were 7 years and 2 months old. Fifteen children were male and five were female. The brazilian version of the Burden Interview scale was applied to verify the level of caregiver burden. The Autism Behavior Checklist (ABC) was applied to the analysis of non-adaptive behaviors and to analyze the lexical repertoire: Auditory and Expressive Vocabulary Tests. The PECS Implementation Program was composed of 24 sessions of individual speech therapy with the active presence of mothers. At the end all children and mothers were reevaluated with part of the instruments. Results There was a tendency to reduce maternal overload indexes after the implementation of the PECS. There was a significant decrease in non-adaptive behaviors and an increase in the expressive and auditory vocabulary indexes of the children at the final moment of the study. We did not observe a significant correlation between the degrees of overload with age, schooling and intellectual quotient of children, nor schooling and maternal socioeconomic status. Conclusion It was possible to analyze the repercussion of the implementation of the PECS on the burden of mothers of children with ASD assisted by the Program.

RESUMO Objetivo O objetivo deste estudo foi analisar o impacto da implementação do Picture Exchange Communication System – PECS na compreensão de instruções de crianças com Transtorno do Espectro do Autismo (TEA). Método Trata-se de estudo longitudinal. A amostra foi constituída por 20 crianças com TEA não verbais, sendo 15 meninos e 5 meninas, na faixa etária de 6 a 12 anos, avaliadas e diagnosticadas por equipe multidisciplinar, segundo os critérios do DSM-5. Para avaliação da compreensão de instruções foram aplicadas 8 instruções visuais e 8 instruções orais, em dois momentos do Programa de Implementação do PECS: no início das fases II e IV. O programa foi composto por 24 sessões de terapia fonoaudiológica individual com a presença do familiar e obedeceu às seis fases propostas originalmente pelo Manual de Treinamento do PECS. Resultados Houve aumento expressivo na compreensão de todas as instruções, na comparação entre os dois momentos do estudo; sendo que em seis das instruções orais (p=0,001) e cinco das instruções visuais (p=0,002), esse aumento foi estatisticamente significante. Conclusão Foi possível observar o impacto positivo do uso do PECS na compreensão de instruções tanto visuais quanto orais, mostrando que esse sistema não apenas fornece uma ferramenta de comunicação aumentativa ou alternativa para a criança se expressar, mas também promove melhora significativa na compreensão das informações contextuais.

ABSTRACT Purpose The purpose of this study was to analyze the impact of the implementation of the Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS) on the comprehension of instructions by children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Methods This is a longitudinal study (N° 0809/2018). The sample consisted of 20 children with nonverbal ASDs, 15 boys and 5 girls, aged 6 to 12 years, evaluated and diagnosed by a multidisciplinary team according to the DSM-5. For assessment of the comprehension of instructions, we used eight visual instructions and eight oral instructions, which were applied at two points in the PECS Implementation Program: early phases II and IV. The program consisted of 24 individual speech therapy sessions with the presence of a family member and followed the six phases originally proposed by the PECS Training Manual. Results There was an expressive increase in the comprehension of all instructions, in the comparison between the two moments of the study; and this increase was statistically significant in six of the oral instructions (p=0.001) and five of the visual ones (p=0.002). Conclusion It was possible to observe the positive impact of the use of PECS in the comprehension of both visual and oral instructions, showing that this system not only provides an augmentative or alternative communication tool for the children to express themselves but also promotes significant improvement in the understanding of contextual information.

RESUMO Objetivo: analisar a relevância do engajamento familiar na implementação do Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS) em crianças com Transtorno do Espectro do Autismo (TEA). Métodos: um estudo longitudinal com amostra constituída por 22 díades mãe-criança com TEA, sendo 17 meninos e 5 meninas, com média de idade de 7 anos e 2 meses. Utilizou-se o Protocolo de Avaliação das Habilidades do Executor PECS. O programa de implementação do PECS foi composto por 24 sessões de terapia com a presença ativa das mães. A adesão das famílias foi mensurada pela frequência às sessões. Utilizou-se o teste de Correlação de Spearman e o nível de significância de 0,05%. Resultados: as mães executaram corretamente a maioria das tarefas nas três primeiras fases do PECS. Houve tendência de correlação entre as habilidades do executor e o número de sessões em todas as fases do programa, sendo que nas quatro fases iniciais os índices mostraram significância estatística. A adesão das famílias foi de 96%. Conclusão: o engajamento das famílias foi relevante para que as crianças se apropriassem do PECS no tempo ofertado de exposição, atingindo fases de discriminação e construção de frases com os cartões.

ABSTRACT Purpose: to analyze the relevance of family engagement in the implementation of the Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS) in children presented with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Methods: a longitudinal study with a sample of 22 mother- child dyads with ASD; 17 boys and 5 girls, with a mean age of 7 years and 2 months. The Executor Skills Protocol was used. The PECS implementation program consisted of 24 therapy sessions with the active presence of mothers. The family's support was measured by the frequency of the sessions. Spearman's correlation test and a significance level of 0.05% were used. Results: mothers performed most tasks correctly in the first three phases. There was a tendency to correlation between the executor´s skills and the number of sessions in all phases of the program, and in the four initial phases, the indexes showed a statistical significance. Family compliance was 96%. Conclusion: family engagement was relevant for the appropriation of children to the PECS during the time of exposure, reaching phases of discrimination and construction of sentences with cards.

The COVID-19 pandemic brought challenges and the need for adaptation on several fronts. Updating the ways of working is necessary and promoting education and care in the health sector in line with the 21st century is essential. In addition to undergraduate students training in Speech-Language Pathology (SLP) field, based on the necessary opportunities for practical experience with patients during undergraduation, a significant portion of the population is attended by school clinics linked to universities and training centers, which work in conjunction with public health services. In this text we will bring some reflections on the relevance of using telehealth technologies for speech therapists training, considering the articulation between national curricular guidelines, professional training and ethical aspects.

A pandemia da COVID-19 trouxe desafios e necessidade de adaptação em diversas frentes. A atualização das formas de trabalho é necessária e promover ensino e atendimento no setor saúde condizentes com o século XXI é fundamental. Não estamos apenas tratando da formação de graduandos na área de Fonoaudiologia, mas do atendimento clínico a uma parcela significativa da população que depende dos serviços de clínicas-escola vinculadas às universidades e centros de formação em nossa profissão.Neste texto traremos algumas reflexões sobre a relevância do uso das tecnologias de telessaúde para a formação de fonoaudiólogos, considerando a articulação entre as diretrizes curriculares nacionais, a formação profissional e aspectos éticos.

RESUMO Objetivo A Organização Mundial de Saúde define a qualidade de vida como a percepção que o indivíduo tem de sua posição na vida dentro do contexto cultural e do sistema de valores nos quais ele está inserido. Ela está intrinsicamente relacionada aos objetivos, expectativas, padrões e preocupações deste indivíduo. Sabe-se que, quando um membro da família é acometido por alguma doença, a qualidade de vida de todos ao seu redor sofre forte impacto. Uma das grandes preocupações das famílias em relação ao desenvolvimento da criança com Transtorno do Espectro do Autismo (TEA) é a ausência da fala. Sendo assim, o objetivo deste estudo foi analisar a interferência do meio comunicativo da criança com TEA na qualidade de vida de suas mães. Método Trata-se de um estudo transversal. A amostra foi constituída por 41 mães de crianças diagnosticadas, por equipe multidisciplinar, com TEA que foram divididas em dois grupos: 20 mães de crianças não verbais - GTEA-NV e 21 mães de crianças verbais - GTEA. Para a análise da qualidade de vida das mães, aplicou-se o questionário WHOQOL-Bref. Resultados Não houve diferença significante na percepção materna acerca dos domínios que refletem a qualidade de vida na comparação entre os grupos de mães. Em ambos os grupos, observamos índices elevados de insatisfação. Conclusão Verificamos que a qualidade de vida das mães das crianças com TEA esteve afetada independentemente do meio comunicativo utilizado pela criança.

ABSTRACT Purpose According to the World Health Organization, quality of life is defined as the perception an individual has on his/her position within the cultural context and the system of values in which he/she is contained. This perception is intrinsically related to the objectives, expectations, patterns, and concerns of such an individual. We know that when a member of a family is assailed by an ailment, the quality of life of all of those who surround him/her suffer a strong impact. One of the great concerns of the families regarding the development of a child with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is the lack or impairment of the child's speech. Thus, the objective of this study was to analyze the interference of the communicative means of children with ASD upon the quality of life of their mothers. Methods This was a transversal study. The sample was obtained from 41 mothers of children diagnosed with ASD by a multi-disciplinary team: the mothers were divided into two groups: 20 mothers of non-verbal children-GASD-NV; and 21 mothers of verbal children-GASD. We applied the WHOQOL-Bref questionnaire to score and analyze the quality of life of these mothers. Results There was no significant difference in the maternal perception related to the domains that reflected the quality of life which we compared between these two groups of mothers. In both groups, we observed high indexes of dissatisfaction. Conclusion We verified that the quality of life of the mothers of children with ASD was affected regardless of the communicative means used by the child.

ABSTRACT Purpose It is known that some autistic individuals are considered non-verbal, since they are unable to use verbal language and barely use gestures to compensate for the absence of speech. Therefore, these individuals’ ability to communicate may benefit from the use of the Picture Exchange Communication System – PECS. The objective of this study was to verify the most frequently used words in the implementation of PECS in autistic children, and on a complementary basis, to analyze the correlation between the frequency of these words and the rate of maladaptive behaviors. Methods This is a cross-sectional study. The sample was composed of 31 autistic children, twenty-five boys and six girls, aged between 5 and 10 years old. To identify the most frequently used words in the initial period of implementation of PECS, the Vocabulary Selection Worksheet was used. And to measure the rate of maladaptive behaviors, we applied the Autism Behavior Checklist (ABC). Results There was a significant prevalence of items in the category “food”, followed by “activities” and “beverages”. There was no correlation between the total amount of items identified by the families and the rate of maladaptive behaviors. Conclusion The categories of words most mentioned by the families could be identified, and it was confirmed that the level of maladaptive behaviors did not interfere directly in the preparation of the vocabulary selection worksheet for the children studied.

RESUMO Objetivo Sabe-se que alguns autistas são considerados não verbais, uma vez que não são hábeis para utilizar o código linguístico. E tampouco usam gestos para compensar a ausência de fala. Sendo assim, a habilidade comunicativa desses indivíduos pode ser beneficiada pelo uso do sistema de comunicação alternativa Picture Exchange Communication System – PECS. O objetivo deste estudo foi verificar os vocábulos mais frequentemente utilizados na implementação do PECS em crianças autistas. E, de forma complementar, analisar a correlação entre a frequência destes vocábulos e o índice de comportamentos não adaptativos. Método Trata-se de um estudo transversal. A amostra foi constituída por 31 crianças autistas, sendo vinte e cinco meninos e seis meninas, na faixa etária de 5 a 10 anos. Para identificação dos vocábulos mais frequentemente utilizados no período inicial de implementação do PECS, utilizamos a Planilha de Seleção de Vocabulário. E, para obtermos o índice de comportamentos não adaptativos, aplicamos o Autism Behavior Checklist (ABC). Resultados Houve predomínio significativo de itens na categoria alimentos, seguido de atividade e bebidas. Não houve correlação entre o total de itens identificados pelas famílias com o índice de comportamentos não adaptativos. Conclusão Foi possível identificar as categorias de vocábulos mais mencionados pelas famílias e verificar que o índice de comportamentos não adaptativos não interferiu diretamente na elaboração da planilha de seleção de vocábulos das crianças estudadas.

ABSTRACT Purpose To verify and compare the performance of children and adolescents with Specific Language Impairment (SLI) and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) using a formal, standardized test that assesses language competence, more specifically comprehension of ambiguity. Methods The sample comprised 19 individuals aged 6 to 14 years, of both genders, divided into two groups: ASD Group (9) and SLI Group (10). Participants were assessed using the Test of Language Competence – TLC; Ambiguous Sentences subtest (Wiig, Secord, 1989). Analysis included the comparison of the total scores in both groups. Results We found significant difference between the groups, with better performance of the SLI Group compared with that of the ASD Group. Conclusion It was possible to analyze and compare the performance of both groups in a metalinguistic activity. We observed better performance of the SLI group compared with that of the ASD Group in the interpretation of ambiguous information.

RESUMO Objetivo Verificar e comparar o desempenho de crianças e adolescentes com Transtorno Específico de Linguagem e Fala (TEL) e Transtorno do Espectro Autista (TEA) em teste formal e padronizado que avalia a competência de linguagem, especificamente em prova de ambiguidade. Método A amostra foi constituída por 19 indivíduos, de 6 a 14 anos, de ambos os gêneros, divididos em dois grupos: Grupo TEA (9) e Grupo TEL (10). Utilizamos a prova de Sentenças Ambíguas do Teste de Competência de Linguagem – TLC (Wiig, Secord, 1989). Para a análise, foram comparadas as pontuações totais dos grupos. Resultados Houve diferença significativa com melhor desempenho do grupo TEL em comparação ao grupo TEA. Conclusão Foi possível analisar e comparar a performance dos grupos em atividade metalinguística e verificar melhor desempenho do grupo Transtorno Específico de Linguagem e Fala em relação ao Transtorno do Espectro Autista, na interpretação de informações ambíguas.

PURPOSE: to compare receptive and expressive vocabulary indexes in children with Specific Language Impairment. METHODS: cross-sectional study, with sample constituted of 21 children with Specific Developmental Disorder of Speech and Language, assessed in a Speech Therapy school clinic, being 09 girls and 12 boys, with an age range between 3 and 11 years old. For this study,Proof of Vocabulary of Teste ABFW and the Teste of Vocabulary Picture Peabody-TVIP was used. RESULTS: 80,95% of the children presented adequate development compatible with the evaluation of expressive vocabulary, while 52,4% presented development compatible with the age range in evaluation of receptive vocabulary. There was no statistical significance. CONCLUSION: children in the present study presented better performance in the evaluation of expressive vocabulary in relation to receptive vocabulary. This data prove the need of a careful and investigative view by the speech therapist for both the aspects of production and understanding of language.

OBJETIVO: comparar os índices de vocabulário receptivo e expressivo de crianças com Transtorno Específico do Desenvolvimento da Fala e da Linguagem. MÉTODOS: trata-se de estudo transversal, com amostra constituída por 21 crianças com Transtorno Específico do Desenvolvimento da Fala e da Linguagem, avaliadas em clínica-escola de Fonoaudiologia, sendo 9 crianças do gênero feminino e 12 crianças do gênero masculino, com idades entre 3 e 11 anos. Para este estudo foi utilizada a Prova de Vocabulário do Teste ABFW e o Teste de Vocabulário por Imagem Peabody - TVIP. RESULTADOS: 80,95% das crianças apresentaram desempenho adequado na avaliação do vocabulário expressivo, enquanto 52,4% apresentaram desempenho compatível com a faixa etária na avaliação do vocabulário receptivo. Não houve significância estatística. CONCLUSÃO: as crianças apresentaram melhor desempenho em avaliação do vocabulário expressivo em relação ao vocabulário receptivo. Esses dados comprovam a necessidade de um olhar atento e investigativo do fonoaudiólogo para os aspectos tanto de produção quanto de compreensão da linguagem.

PURPOSE:to evaluate the efficacy of the speech and language therapy for Autistic Spectrum Disorders.METHODS:the sample was composed of 11 children. These children were randomly divided into two groups: Six were receiving both direct and indirect intervention (TG group), and five were receiving exclusively indirect intervention (OG Group). We used the following parts of ASIEP-2: Autism Behavior Checklist, Interaction Assessment and Sample of Vocal Behavior on three occasions: at the beginning, six months later and 12 months later.RESULTS:we observed there was greater evolution of Therapy Group-TG in the Autism Behavior Checklist, Interaction Assessment and Sample of Vocal Behavior. The mothers and the Speech Language Pathologist perceived behavioral changes.CONCLUSIONS: the tendency of better performance of the children attended in direct and indirect intervention showed that this association was fundamental.

OBJETIVO:avaliar a eficácia da intervenção terapêutica fonoaudiológica para crianças com Distúrbios do Espectro do Autismo.MÉTODOS:a amostra foi composta por 11 crianças. Essas crianças foram divididas aleatoriamente em dois grupos: Seis estavam recebendo intervenção direta e indireta (GT) e cinco apenas atendimento exclusivamente indireto (GO). Foram utilizadas as seguintes partes do teste ASIEP-2: Autism Behavior Checklist, Avaliação de Interação e Amostra do Comportamento Vocal em três ocasiões: no início, seis meses depois, e após 12 meses.RESULTADOS:observou-se maior evolução do GT no Autism Behavior Checklist, Avaliação Interação e na Amostra de comportamento vocal. Tanto as mães quanto a fonoaudióloga perceberam mudanças comportamentais.CONCLUSÕES:a tendência de melhor desempenho das crianças atendidas na intervenção direta e indireta mostrou que esta associação foi fundamental.

<sec><title>Purpose:</title><p> To compare abilities of imitating generic and sequential motion gesture schemes in family routines among children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Specific Language Impairment (SLI) and to analyze the relation between imitation index and verbal production in the ASD group.</p></sec><sec><title>Methods:</title><p> The sample was constituted by 2:1 pairing of 36 children, according to gender and age. All of them were diagnosed by a multidisciplinary team as belonging to the ASD group (n=24) or SLI group (n=12) and were under direct and indirect intervention in a school clinic. We have used the stage of imitation of the Assessment of Symbolic Maturity, which entails the imitation of nine generic and three sequential motion gesture schemes.</p></sec><sec><title>Results:</title><p> There was a tendency to a better performance of the SLI group at imitating both generic and sequential gesture schemes. As we have related the ability of imitation to the verbal production in the ASD group, a direct relation between the production of phrases and the imitation of sequential schemes was detected.</p></sec><sec><title>Conclusion:</title><p> The ability to imitate gesture and sequential schemes could be compared, and a more prominent impairment was identified in children with autism. Among them, a direct significant relationship between the ability of imitating sequential gesture schemes in family routine and verbal production of words and sentences was verified.</p></sec>

<sec><title>Objetivo:</title><p>Comparar as habilidades de imitação de esquemas gestuais simples e de sequências de ações em rotinas familiares de crianças com Transtorno do Espectro do Autismo (TEA) e com Transtorno Específico de Linguagem e Fala (TEL) e analisar a relação entre o índice de imitação e a produção verbal das crianças do Grupo TEA.</p></sec><sec><title>Métodos:</title><p>A amostra foi constituída pelo pareamento 2:1 de 36 crianças, de acordo com gênero e faixa etária. Todas foram diagnosticadas por equipe multidisciplinar como pertencentes ao Grupo TEA (n=24) ou grupo TEL (n=12) e atendidas em intervenção direta e indireta em clínicaescola. Utilizamos a etapa de imitação da Avaliação da Maturidade Simbólica, que compreende a imitação de nove esquemas gestuais simples e de três esquemas gestuais sequenciais.</p></sec><sec><title>Resultados:</title><p> Observamos tendência de melhor desempenho do Grupo TEL na imitação de esquemas gestuais tanto simples como sequenciais. Ao relacionarmos a habilidade de imitação à produção verbal do Grupo TEA, verificamos relação direta entre produção de frases e imitação de esquemas sequenciais.</p></sec><sec><title>Conclusão:</title><p> Foi possível comparar a habilidade de imitação gestual e de esquema sequencial e verificar maior comprometimento de desempenho nas crianças com diagnóstico compatível com o Espectro do Autismo. Dentre estas, verificouse relação direta significativa entre a habilidade de imitação de sequências de rotinas familiares e a produção verbal de palavras e frases.</p></sec>

Purpose To identify a time parameter of speech and language therapy for children with Autistic Spectrum Disorders assisted by the association of both direct and indirect actions, as only by indirect shares. Methods The design of this study is the Clinical Trial pilot. The sample was composed of 11 children with autism spectrum disorders, 4-10 years old. These children were randomly divided into two groups: six were receiving both direct (individual session) and indirect intervention (parent orientation session) (Therapy Group - TG), and five were receiving exclusively indirect intervention (Orientation Group - OG). We used the Autism Behavior Checklist (ABC) to interview the mothers; Interaction Assessment (IA) and Sample of Vocal Behavior (SVB) to assess and to measure the evolution of children on three occasions: at the beginning, six months later and 12 months later. Results We observed there was greater evolution, in velocity and extension, in the first semester of TG in the Autism Behavior Checklist. In the Interaction Assessment and Sample of Vocal Behavior there were decreased values, specially between 0 and 1 time. Conclusion The six month period is strong evidence for indirect action and for the association between indirect and direct actions. This measure of time can be a parameter for speech and language therapy for children with autism spectrum disorders.

Objetivo Identificar um parâmetro de tempo de intervenção fonoaudiológica para crianças com Transtorno do Espectro do Autismo, assistidas tanto pela associação de ações diretas e indiretas, quanto apenas por ações indiretas. Métodos A amostra foi constituída por 11 meninos, de 4 a 10 anos de idade, pertencentes ao espectro do Autismo. As crianças foram divididas, aleatoriamente, em dois grupos: Grupo GT, formado por seis crianças assistidas em intervenção terapêutica fonoaudiológica direta (sessão individual com a criança) e indireta (sessão de orientação aos pais); Grupo GO, com cinco crianças assistidas apenas indiretamente. Utilizamos o Autism Behavior Checklist (ABC) para entrevistar as mães e as avaliações de Interação e do Comportamento Vocal para avaliar e mensurar o tempo de evolução da criança, em três momentos: tempo zero, após seis meses (tempo 1) e após 12 meses (tempo 2). Resultados Nos primeiros seis meses, a extensão e a velocidade do processo evolutivo tornaram-se evidentes, especialmente no Grupo GT, tanto nos valores totais do ABC, quanto nas áreas que o compõem. Nos itens da Avaliação da Interação e do Comportamento Vocal também identificamos decréscimo das médias, em ambos os grupos, especialmente entre os tempos 0 e 1. Conclusão O intervalo de tempo de seis meses tornou-se uma base de evidência confiável, tanto para ações indiretas, quanto para a associação de ações diretas e indiretas. Portanto, pode servir de parâmetro para intervenção terapêutica fonoaudiológica direcionada aos Transtornos do Espectro do Autismo.
