Resumo Caesalpinia ferrea Mart.ex.Tul. var. ferrea é uma arbórea da família Fabaceae recomendada na ornamentação de parques, praças, jardins centrais de avenidas, vias públicas e estacionamentos. Nesse sentido, o objetivo desse trabalho foi avaliar a germinação e o vigor de suas sementes quando submetidas a diferentes condições de luz e temperaturas. O trabalho foi realizado no Laboratório de Análise de Sementes do Centro de Ciências Agrárias da Universidade Federal da Paraíba, em Areia - PB, com sementes de Caesalpinia. ferrea submetidas aos seguintes tratamentos: regime de luz branca, verde, vermelha, vermelho distante e escura (ausência de luz), nas temperaturas de 25 e 30°C constantes e 20-30°C alternada. As características avaliadas foram a germinação, primeira contagem e índice de velocidade de germinação, bem como comprimento e massa seca de plântulas. A germinação das sementes de Caesalpinia ferrea é favorecida pela temperatura alternada de 20-30°C e não é influenciada pelos regimes de luz, sendo a espécie fotoblástica neutra.

Abstract Caesalpinia ferrea Mart. ex. Tul. var. ferrea is a tree of the family Fabaceae that is recommended in the ornamentation of parks, squares, central gardens on avenues, roads and parking lots. Thus, the objective of this study was to evaluate the germination and vigor of their seeds exposed to different light conditions and temperatures. The work was performed at the Laboratory of Seed Analysis, at ‘Centro de Ciências Agrárias’, Center of Rural Sciences, at the Federal University of Paraíba state, in the city of Areia, with seeds of Caesalpinia ferrea submitted to the following treatments: white light, green light, red light, far-red and dark light (no light) regimes, at constant temperatures of 25 and 30°C and 20-30°C, alternating. The characteristics evaluated were: germination, first count and rate of germination and length and seedling dry weight. The germination of the seeds of Caesalpinia ferrea is favored by alternating temperature of 20-30°C and is not influenced by the regimes of light and the species is neutral photoblastic.

RESUMO Platymiscium floribundum Vog., uma espécie florestal pertencente à família Fabaceae, apresenta grande potencial para exploração econômica e pode ser utilizada tanto no paisagismo como em reflorestamentos, na recuperação de áreas degradadas e de preservação permanente. Diante de sua importância, o trabalho teve como objetivo estudar a influência da luz e temperaturas na germinação de sementes de Platymiscium floribundum. Avaliou-se a germinação e vigor das sementes sob temperaturas de 25 e 30ºC constantes e 20-30ºC alternada em diferentes regimes de luz: branca (LB), verde (LV), vermelha-distante (LVD), vermelha (LV) e ausência de luz (A). O delineamento experimental foi inteiramente ao acaso, em esquema fatorial 3 x 5, com quatro repetições de 25 sementes. As variáveis analisadas foram: germinação, primeira contagem de germinação, índice de velocidade de germinação (IVG), comprimento e massa seca de plântulas (raiz e altura da parte aérea). As sementes de Platymiscium floribundum expressam seu máximo vigor em ambiente iluminado independentemente da temperatura.

ABSTRACT Platymiscium floribundum Vog., a forest species belonging to the family Fabaceae, has great potential for economic exploitation and can be used both in landscape and in reforestation, in the restoration of degraded areas and permanent preservation.given its importance, this work was, it was aimed to study the influence of light and temperature on seed germination of Platymiscium floribundum. We evaluate the germination and vigor Under constant and alternate temperatures of 25 and 30 0C in different light regimes: White (LB), green (LV), red-far (LVD), red (LV) and absence light (A). The experimental design was completely randomized in a factorial 3 x 5 with four replications of 25 seeds. The variables analyzed were: germination, first count of germination, germination speed index (IGV), length and seedling dry weight (root length, shoot length of seedlings). The seeds of Platymiscium floribundum express their maximum force in illuminated environment independent of the temperature.

Este estudo analisou a composição química e o potencial anestésico do óleo essencial (OE) de Nectandra megapotamica em robalos-peva (Centropomus parallelus). Para a extração do OE por hidrodestilação, as folhas foram separadas em jovens (OE-J) ou velhas (OE-V) e a composição química foi determinada por CG-EM. O potencial anestésico foi acessado através da avaliação do tempo de indução e recuperação da anestesia e resposta ao estresse do procedimento anestésico e transporte. Foram realizados três experimentos: em primeiro lugar, quatro concentrações diferentes de cada OE foram testadas para avaliar o tempo de indução à anestesia e de recuperação; em segundo lugar, duas concentrações do OE-V foram testadas para avaliar os efeitos sobre os parâmetros de estresse (níveis plasmáticos de glicose, lactato, Na+ e K+) causados pelo procedimento anestésico; em terceiro lugar, os peixes foram transportados em sacos plásticos com duas concentrações do OE-V para avaliação da qualidade da água e mortalidade. Todos os experimentos foram realizados em peixes aclimatados à salinidade zero e 33. Os constituintes majoritários do OE-J e OE-V foram: biciclogermacreno (46,5/34,6%), α-pineno (26,8/26,2%), β-pineno (7,9/12,3%) e germacreno D (9,6/9,1%). Sedação leve foi alcançada com 30 °L L-1(1,3-3,2 min) e anestesia profunda a partir de 150 °L L-1(5,6-8,0 min) com ambos OEs. O tempo de recuperação variou entre 1-10 min.O OE-V não foi capaz de evitar o estresse do procedimento anestésico, evidenciado pelos elevados níveis plasmáticos de glicose e lactato observados em todos os grupos. Os níveis plasmáticos de Na+ e K+ não foram significativamente afetados pelos tratamentos. Durante o transporte, o OE-V não impediu a deterioração da qualidade da água e a mortalidade pós-transporte. Concluindo, o OE de Nectandra megapotamicaapresenta atividade anestésica em robalos-peva, mas não foi capaz de evitar o estresse do procedimento anestésico e transporte.

This study analyzed the chemical composition and anesthetic potential of essential oil (EO) of Nectandra megapotamica in fat snook (Centropomus parallelus). For the extraction of EO by hydrodistillation, leaves were separated in young (EO-Y) or old (EO-O), and the chemical composition of the EOs was determined by CG-MS. The anesthetic potential was assessed by the evaluation of induction and recovery time of anesthesia and stress response from anesthesia and transport. Three experiments were carried out: i) four different concentrations of each EO were tested to evaluate anesthesia induction and recovery time; ii) two concentrations of EO-O were tested for the evaluation of its effects on stress parameters (glucose, lactate, and Na+ and K+ plasma levels) caused by anesthesia; and iii) fish were transported in plastic bags, supplied with two concentrations of EO-O for the evaluation of water quality and mortality. All experiments were performed on fish acclimated to 0 and 33 ppt salinity. The main constituents of the Y and O-EOs were bicyclogermacrene (46.5/34.6%), α-pinene (26.8/26.2%), β-pinene (7.9/12.3%), and germacrene D (9.6/9.1%). Mild sedation was achieved at 30 °L L-1(1.3-3.2 min) and deep anesthesia at 150 °L L-1(5.6-8.0 min) with both EOs. The recovery time ranged from 1-10 min. The EO-O was not able to avoid the stress of anesthesia evidenced by elevated glucose and lactate plasma levels observed in all groups. Plasma levels of Na+ and K+ were not significantly affected by treatments. During transport, the use of EO-O did not prevent deterioration in water quality and the post-transport mortality. In conclusion, the EO of N. megapotamica has anesthetic activity in fat snook, but it was not able to prevent the stress of anesthesia and transport.

O objetivo deste estudo foi identificar os tempos da indução e recuperação anestésica em cavalos marinhos (Hippocampus reidi) expostos ao óleo essencial de Lippia alba (OE), assim como a eficácia do OE como um agente redutor de estresse no transporte desta espécie. Os cavalos marinhos foram colocados em aquários contendo 1 litro de água e diferentes concentrações de OE (0, 10, 20, 50, 150, 300 e 450 µL L-1), após a indução, os peixes foram transferidos à aquários livre de anestésico para avaliar o tempo de recuperação. Em um outro experimento os cavalos marinhos foram transportados em sacos plásticos contendo 15 µL L-1 do OE por 4 ou 24h. A concentração crescente do OE diminuiu proporcionalmente o tempo exigido para a indução da anestesia. O óleo essencial (15 µL L-1) inibiu o aumento nos níveis de glicose sanguínea provocada pelo transporte por 4 ou 24 h. O transporte por 24 h igualmente diminuiu o número de linfócitos e aumentou o número de neutrófilos, estas alterações foram evitadas com o uso do OE na água. Estes resultados demonstram que no cavalo marinho o OE é eficaz para a sedação e transporte na faixa de 10-20 µL L-1 e para a anestesia profunda recomenda-se 150 µL L-1.

The aim of this study was to identify the times of anesthetic induction and recovery in slender seahorses (Hippocampus reidi) that were exposed to the essential oil of Lippia alba (EO), as well as the efficacy of EO as a stress-reducing agent in the transport of this species. Slender seahorses were placed in 1-L aquaria containing different concentrations of EO (0, 10, 20, 50, 150, 300 and 450 µL L-1), and after induction, fish were transferred to aquaria that were free of anesthetic to evaluate their recovery time. In an additional experiment, slender seahorses were transported in plastic bags with 15 µL L-1 of EO for 4 or 24 h. The increased concentration of EO proportionally decreased the time required for the induction of anesthesia. EO treatment (15 µL L-1) inhibited the increase in blood glucose levels that was provoked by transportation for 4 or 24 h. Transportation for 24 h also decreased the number of lymphocytes and increased the neutrophil count, and these effects were avoided with the addition of EO to the water. These results demonstrate that EO was effective as an anesthetic at concentrations of 10-20 µL L-1 for slight sedation and transport and at 150 µL L-1 for deep anesthesia in the slender seahorse.
