RESUMO Introdução: Doenças pulmonares são comuns em pacientes com doença renal em estágio terminal (DRET), dificultando o diagnóstico diferencial com COVID-19. Este estudo descreve achados de tomografia computadorizada de tórax (TC) em pacientes com DRET em terapia renal substitutiva (TRS) hospitalizados com suspeita de COVID-19. Métodos: Indivíduos maiores de 18 anos com DRET, encaminhados ao pronto-socorro com suspeita de COVID-19 foram incluídos. Dados clínicos e epidemiológicos foram extraídos de registros eletrônicos de saúde. A TC foi classificada como típica, indeterminada, atípica, negativa. Comparamos achados tomográficos de pacientes com COVID-19 positivos e negativos. Resultados: Recrutamos 109 pacientes (62,3% COVID-19-positivos) entre março e dezembro de 2020, idade média de 60 ± 12,5 anos, 43% mulheres. A etiologia mais comum da DRET foi diabetes. Tempo médio em diálise foi 36 meses, intervalo interquartil = 12–84. A lesão pulmonar mais comum foi opacidades em vidro fosco. O padrão típico de TC foi mais comum em pacientes com COVID-19 (40 (61%) vs. 0 (0%) em pacientes sem COVID-19, p < 0,001). Sensibilidade 60,61% (40/66), especificidade 100% (40/40). Valores preditivos positivos e negativos foram 100% e 62,3%, respectivamente. Padrão atípico de TC foi mais frequente em pacientes COVID-19-negativos (9 (14%) vs. 24 (56%) em COVID-19-positivos, p < 0,001), enquanto padrão indeterminado foi semelhante em ambos os grupos (13 (20%) vs. 6 (14%), p = 0,606), e padrão negativo foi mais comum em pacientes COVID-19-negativos (4 (6%) vs. 12 (28%), p = 0,002). ABSTRACT Introduction: Lung diseases are common in patients with end stage kidney disease (ESKD), making differential diagnosis with COVID-19 a challenge. This study describes pulmonary chest tomography (CT) findings in hospitalized ESKD patients on renal replacement therapy (RRT) with clinical suspicion of COVID-19. Methods: ESKD individuals referred to emergency department older than 18 years with clinical suspicion of COVID-19 were recruited. Epidemiological baseline clinical information was extracted from electronic health records. Pulmonary CT was classified as typical, indeterminate, atypical or negative. We then compared the CT findings of positive and negative COVID-19 patients. Results: We recruited 109 patients (62.3% COVID-19-positive) between March and December 2020, mean age 60 ± 12.5 years, 43% female. The most common etiology of ESKD was diabetes. Median time on dialysis was 36 months, interquartile range = 12–84. The most common pulmonary lesion on CT was ground glass opacities. Typical CT pattern was more common in COVID-19 patients (40 (61%) vs 0 (0%) in non-COVID-19 patients, p < 0.001). Sensitivity was 60.61% (40/66) and specificity was 100% (40/40). Positive predictive value and negative predictive value were 100% and 62.3%, respectively. RESUMEN El artículo presenta los resultados de un proceso de investigación centrado en la digitalización y puesta en disponibilidad pública del archivo de ¡Adelante! El Periódico de la Usina Popular de Tandil, un órgano de prensa editado en la localidad bonaerense de Tandil, Argentina, entre 1934 y 1942. Dicha publicación nace en el proceso de creación de la Usina Popular, una entidad que buscó brindar un servicio accesible y de calidad para llevar energía eléctrica a los tandilenses. La digitalización de estos materiales de archivo y su puesta a disposición en repositorios de acceso abierto plantea, por un lado, una serie de interrogantes acerca de las relaciones que se establecen entre los procesos comunicacionales, las tecnologías digitales y las políticas públicas que pugnan llevarla adelante, al mismo tiempo que exigió la conformación de un equipo multidisciplinario que involucró el diálogo con las investigaciones históricas que contribuyen a la construcción de una historia de los medios de prensa de ciudades medias de la provincia de Buenos Aires.

ABSTRACT The article presents the results of a research process focused on the digitization and public availability of the ¡Adelante! The newspaper of the Usina Popular de Tandil, a press organ published in the town of Tandil, Argentina, between 1934 and 1942. This publication was born in the process of creating the Popular Power Plant, an entity that sought to provide accesibility and quality service to bring electrical energy to the people of Tandil. The digitization of these archive materials and their availability in open access repositories raises, on the one hand, a series of questions about the relationships established between communication processes, digital technologies and the public policies that seek to carry it out, whereas at the same time, it demanded the formation of a multidisciplinary team that involved dialogue with historical research that contributes to the construction of a history of the press in medium-sized cities in the province of Buenos Aires.

RESUMO O artigo apresenta os resultados de um processo de pesquisa focado na digitalização e disponibilização pública do arquivo de ¡Adelante! El Periódico de la Usina Popular de Tandil, órgão de imprensa publicado na cidade de Tandil, em Buenos Aires, Argentina, entre 1934 e 1942. Esta publicação nasceu no processo de criação da Usina Popular, entidade que buscava fornecer um serviço acessível e de qualidade para levar energia elétrica à população de Tandil. A digitalização destes materiais arquivísticos e a sua disponibilização em repositórios de acesso aberto levanta, por um lado, uma série de questões sobre as relações estabelecidas entre os processos de comunicação, as tecnologias digitais e as políticas públicas que procuram realizá-lo, que exigiu a formação de uma equipe multidisciplinar que envolveu o diálogo com as pesquisas históricas que contribuem para a construção de uma história da mídia impressa nas cidades médias da província de Buenos Aires.

Abstract Human myiasis is the infestation of humans with dipterous larvae. Cutaneous myiasis is the most common form and is one of the most common travel-associated skin diseases. The condition should be suspected when furuncle or boil-like skin lesions are observed in patients travelling from endemic regions. Herein is described the case of a toddler who had travelled from Guinea-Bissau seven days earlier and presented with a six-day history of painful furuncle-like swellings on the left thigh and scrotum. Two larvae were collected from one of the lesions, and entomological analysis confirmed the diagnosis of cutaneous myiasis. Complete larvae extraction is the primary treatment goal, and adequate preservation of the maggots is essential for public health analysis.

Resumo A miíase humana é a infestação de humanos por larvas de dípteros. A forma cutânea é a mais frequente apresentação da doença e também uma das doenças dermatológicas do viajante mais comuns. Deve haver suspeita de miíase cutânea quando são observadas lesões do tipo furúnculo ou bolha em doentes que estiveram numa região endémica. É descrito o caso de um rapaz de 17 meses oriundo da Guiné-Bissau que se apresentou com lesões do tipo furúnculo dolorosas na coxa esquerda e escroto com seis dias de evolução. Foram recuperadas duas larvas numa das lesões, cuja análise entomológica confirmou o diagnóstico de miíase cutânea. A extração completa das larvas é o principal objetivo do tratamento e a sua correta preservação para análise é fundamental numa perspetiva de saúde pública.

Abstract Objective: Enuresis is associated with attentional and emotional comorbidities in 20 to 30 % of cases. The Short Screening Instrument for Psychological Problems in Enuresis (SSIPPE) is a questionnaire that allows the initial screening of these comorbidities. This study aimed to translate, culturally adapt, and validate the SSIPPE for Brazilian children and adolescents (SSIPPE-Br). Methods: Six steps were performed for translation and cross-cultural adaptation: translation, synthesis of translations, back-translation, preparation of the pre-final version of the translated instrument, test of comprehensibility of the pre-final version of the tool, and elaboration of the instrument cross-culturally adapted for Brazil, named 13-itens version SSIPPE-Br. To validate the SSIPPE-Br, a cross-sectional study was carried out, in which the validated Brazilian version of the Child and Adolescent Behavior Inventory (CABI) was used. Results: Validation was performed on 127 children and adolescents with a mean age of 9.7 ± 2.8 years, 48 % male. The reliability was estimated using Cronbach’s alpha, ranging from 0.86 to 0.89, indicating good internal consistency. The factorial analysis had a good agreement adjustment (KMO 0.755, Bartlett’s test < 0.001) and explained 70.5 % of the data variability. In the reproducibility analysis, the Kappa coefficient ranged from 0.94 to 1, which can be considered almost perfect. A highly significant (p-value < 0.001) and direct correlation existed between the three SSIPPE-Br domains and all evaluated CABI domains. Conclusion: The SSIPPE-Br is a valid and reliable tool for emotional problems screening and ADHD symptoms in children and adolescents with enuresis whose first language is Brazilian Portuguese. Abstract Broad ligament pregnancy is a rare form of abdominal pregnancy that corresponds to 1 percent of ectopic pregnancies. It has a high maternal mortality rate, and its diagnosis can represent a clinical challenge. We report a case of a 29-year-old woman, G2P0, pregnant of 21 weeks who was submitted to surgery due to hemoperitoneum that resulted from a ruptured extra uterine pregnancy. Broad ligament pregnancy diagnosis was made intraoperatively and the broad ligament along with fetus, placenta and fallopian tube were excised.

Resumo A gravidez do ligamento largo é uma forma rara de gravidez abdominal e corresponde a 1 por cento das gestações de localização ectópica. Esta entidade tem uma elevada taxa de mortalidade materna e o seu diagnóstico pode representar um desafio. Apresenta-se o caso de uma mulher de 29 anos, G2P0, grávida de 21 semanas submetida a cirurgia em contexto de hemoperitoneu por rotura de gravidez extrauterina. O diagnostico de gravidez do ligamento largo foi realizado intraoperatoriamente com remoção do mesmo, juntamente com o feto, placenta e trompa de Falópio.

According to Leitão (2007a; 2007b), argumentation is a privileged mechanism for the acquisition of language and knowledge, covering dimensions such as dialogical-discursive, dialectical, social and epistemic. This demonstrates the importance of developing it in the first years of school, especially in bilingual schools. The objective of this study is, therefore, to analyze the argumentative speeches produced by deaf children, seeking to identify the enunciative-discursive chains that generate argumentation and the epistemic changes generated by the effect of these argumentative speeches. For this, data collection was carried out in three bilingual schools (Portuguese-Libras), focused on the education of the deaf, covering a sample of 23 subjects, between 6 and 14 years old, where naturalistic situations were observed and provoked by playful workshops. Drawing on studies in argumentation (LEITÃO, 2006, 2007a; VIEIRA, 2015), multimodality (SOUSA; MÁXIMO, 2009; CAVALCANTE, 2016; 2011) and dialogism (VOLÓCHINOV; BAKHTIN, 2018; BAKHTIN, 2016), it was possible to conclude that argumentation stimulates discursive and linguistic movements (such as resuming statements, reading the context and syntactic organization) and multimodal movements (facial expression, social gestures, use of the body, etc.) that corroborate bimodal bilingual acquisition. Thus, argumentation contributes to the deaf child's entry into the language and favors the interactional process, which is extremely important for the formation of critical thinking and the expected language development.

Para Leitão (2007a; 2007b), a argumentação é um mecanismo privilegiado para a aquisição da linguagem e do conhecimento, perpassando dimensões como a dialógico-discursiva, dialética, social e epistêmica. Demonstra-se, assim, a importância de desenvolvê-la nos primeiros anos escolares, sobretudo em escolas bilíngues. O objetivo deste estudo é, portanto, analisar os discursos argumentativos produzidos por crianças surdas, buscando identificar os encadeamentos enunciativo-discursivos que geram a argumentação e as mudanças epistêmicas geradas pelo efeito desses discursos argumentativos. Para tanto, foram realizadas coletas de dados em três escolas bilíngues (Português-Libras), voltadas à educação de surdos, abarcando uma amostra de 23 sujeitos, entre 6 e 14 anos, onde foram observadas situações naturalísticas e provocadas por oficinas lúdicas. Amparando-se nos estudos em argumentação (LEITÃO, 2006, 2007a; VIEIRA, 2015), multimodalidade (SOUSA; MÁXIMO, 2009; CAVALCANTE, 2016; 2011) e dialogismo (VOLÓCHINOV; BAKHTIN, 2018; BAKHTIN, 2016), pôde-se concluir que a argumentação estimula movimentos discursivos e linguísticos (como retomada de enunciados, leitura do contexto e organização sintática) e multimodais (expressão facial, gestos sociais, uso do corpo, etc) que corroboram à aquisição bilíngue bimodal. Assim, a argumentação contribui à entrada da criança surda na língua e favorece o processo interacional, que é de extrema importância à formação do pensamento crítico e ao desenvolvimento linguageiro esperado.

The understanding and interpretation of the phenomenon involved in the development of the Leiden jar integrated different scholars and perspectives, as the device challenged 18th century theories about electricity, leading natural philosophers to intense debate and experimental productions. In this work, we compare the assumptions of Benjamin Franklin (1706–1790), Franz Ulrich Theodosius Aepinus (1724–1802) and Jean-Antoine Nollet (1700–1770), to explain how and why the bottle supplied electricity. With the analysis of the three explanations, we can compare their similarities and mainly differences, explaining the different methods used to construct each theory. A compreensão e interpretação do fenômeno envolvido no desenvolvimento da garrafa de Leiden integrou diferentes estudiosos e perspectivas, uma vez que o dispositivo desafiou as teorias sobre eletricidade do século XVIII, levando os filósofos naturais a um intenso debate e produções experimentais. ABSTRACT Purpose To investigate whether there are differences in cepstral and spectral acoustic measures between women with behavioral dysphonia with and without laryngeal lesions and verify whether there is a correlation between such measures and the auditory-perceptual evaluation of voice quality. Methods The sample comprised 78 women with behavioral dysphonia without laryngeal lesions (BDWOL) and 68 with behavioral dysphonia with laryngeal lesions (vocal nodules) (BDWL). Cepstral peak prominence (CPP), cepstral peak prominence-smoothed (CPPS), spectral decrease, and H1-H2 (difference between the amplitude of the first and second harmonics) were extracted. They were submitted to the auditory-perceptual evaluation (APE) of the grade of hoarseness (GH), roughness (RO), breathiness (BR), and strain (ST). Results BDWL women had higher H1-H2 values and lower CPP and CPPS values than BDWOL women. More deviant voices had lower CPP and CPPS values. Breathy voices had lower CPP and CPPS values and higher H1-H2 values than rough ones. There was a weak negative correlation between CPP and RO, a moderate negative correlation with GH, and a strong negative correlation with BR. CPPS had a moderate negative correlation with GH, RO, and BR. H1-H2 had a weak positive correlation with BR. There was a weak positive correlation between spectral decrease and ST. RESUMO Objetivo Investigar se existem diferenças nas medidas acústicas cepstrais e espectrais entre mulheres com disfonia comportamental com e sem lesão laríngea, bem como verificar se existe correlação entre tais medidas e o julgamento perceptivo-auditivo da qualidade vocal. Abstract We hypothesized that the hCG modulates the expression of IFNT-pathway and ISGs in bovine endometrium during early pregnancy. The aim of the current study is to evaluate the effect of hCG on IFNT-pathway signals and ISGs expression in endometrial cells. For this, 29 non-lactating cross-bread cows were used in the study and submitted to a 9-day fixed-time artificial insemination (FTAI) protocol. The day of the AI was considered Day 0 (D0), and five days (D5) after the FTAI, the cows were allocated into two groups: Control and hCG group, when a hCG group received a single dose of 2.500UI of hCG. On day 18 after FTAI (D18) cows were slaughtered and endometrial tissue samples were collected. There was no difference between the embryo recovery rate of the cows in C compared to the hCG. The hCG group increased the accessory corpus luteum formation rate. The hCG resulted in greater serum progesterone concentration in the hCG group compared to the C on Day 14. Only the expression of IFNAR2 and STAT1 were upregulated on pregnant cows of the hCG group compared to the C group. The pathway genes (JAK1, STAT2, and IRF9) were not regulated. The mRNA abundance of ISG15, MX1, MX2, and OAS1 was upregulated in pregnant cows for hCG group, compared to C group. The results show that the administration of hCG, 5 days after AI, in addition to increasing the serum progesterone, modulates the expression of IFNT-pathway and ISGs on bovine endometrium on Day 18 of pregnancy. Abstract Objective Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is characterized by persistent deficits in social communication and social interaction and by restricted and repetitive patterns of behavior. Some studies have shown that substances derived from Cannabis sativa improve the quality of life of children with ASD without causing serious adverse effects, thus providing an alternative therapeutic option. The objective of this study was to evaluate the efficacy and safety of a cannabis extract rich in cannabidiol (CBD) in children with ASD. Methods In this randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trial, 60 children, aged from 5 to 11 years, were selected and divided into two groups: the treatment group, which received the CBD-rich cannabis extract, and the control group, which received the placebo. They both used their respective products for a period of 12 weeks. Statistical analysis was done by two-factor mixed analysis of variance (two-way ANOVA). Results Significant results were found for social interaction (F1,116 = 14.13, p = 0.0002), anxiety (F1,116 = 5.99, p = 0.016), psychomotor agitation (F1,116 = 9.22, p = 0.003), number of meals a day (F1,116 = 4.11, p = 0.04), and concentration (F1,48 = 6.75, p = 0.01), the last of which was only significant in mild ASD cases. Regarding safety, it was found that only three children in the treatment group (9.7%) had adverse effects, namely dizziness, insomnia, colic, and weight gain. ABSTRACT The objective of the present study was to evaluate the early regeneration stage in previously deforested and cattle-occupied areas of high montane mixed forest in São Joaquim National Park, in the "Planalto Sul Catarinense" region. The study was conducted in two areas in the early successional stage, which had already been inventoried in 2014 and 2018. In each area, 20 plots of 10 x 10 m were established in transects of 20 x 100 m. In 2022, the sites were inventoried again, with all living (? 1 m in height and < 5 cm DBH - diameter at breast height), recruited (? 1 m in height), dead, and outgrowth (? 5 cm DBH) individuals recorded and identified (recruited). The effective richness (Number of Hill) and dynamic rates were determined for the inventory periods (2014-2018-2022). The results show that succession occurs in the areas as species richness increases and dynamic turnover decreases. We conclude that succession occurs with great spatial and temporal heterogeneity. RESUMO O presente estudo teve como objetivo avaliar o estágio inicial de regeneração em áreas anteriormente desmatadas e ocupadas por gado, na Floresta Ombrófila Mista Alto-Montana, no Parque Nacional de São Joaquim, Planalto Catarinense. Realizou-se o estudo em duas áreas em estágio sucessional inicial, que foram previamente inventariadas nos anos de 2014 e 2018. A amostragem em cada área foi por meio de 20 parcelas por área, de 10 x 10 m, distribuídas em transecções de 20 x 100 m. Em 2022, as áreas foram novamente inventariadas, sendo todos os indivíduos com altura ? 1 m e DAP < 5 cm medidos (altura) e, no caso de recrutas, identificados, quantificando-se, também, indivíduos mortos e que se tornaram adultos (? 5 cm). Foram obtidas a riqueza efetiva (Número de Hill) e taxas de dinâmica para os períodos de inventário (2014-2018-2022). Os resultados evidenciaram o avanço da sucessão nas áreas, em virtude do aumento da diversidade de espécies, assim como a redução da rotatividade da dinâmica. ABSTRACT Processing residues are still one of the main obstacles in the fishing industry due to waste and environmental impact. With that, ways of reusing these residues are researched to generate new products with different applications. The objective of this work was to develop and evaluate protein films obtained from mechanically separated meat (MSM) of Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) filleting residues. To get the films, the casting technique was used, varying their composition in relation to the amount of protein (1.0, 1.5 and 2.0%) and glycerol (0.0, 0.1 and 0.2%), creating a 32 factorial plan, with 9 treatments. The films were characterized in terms of color, opacity, water solubility, mechanical properties and water vapor permeability (WVP). In the end, a yield of 18.70% of Nile tilapia myofibrillar proteins (MPs) and a post-lyophilization protein content of 87.33% were obtained. Hop flowers contain chemical substances that are used to confer sensory properties to beer. Hop flower products have very high commercial value, but national production represents less than 2% of domestic consumption. In this work, flowers from different hop cultivars grown in northeast of Brazil (Rio Grande do Norte and Ceará) were analyzed to quantitate metabolites of industrial interest. Flowers from the initial and three consecutive harvests were collected, and bitter acids and xanthohumol were evaluated by HPLC-UV and essential oils by GC-MS. The cultivar Columbus was subjected to only 10% of the irrigation time during the third flowering phase to evaluate the effect of water stress on the formation of metabolites. Compounds were detected in appreciable quantities in all samples, and consecutive flowering of some cultivars showed a significant increase in total bitter acids with successive harvests. Plants subjected to water stress showed an abrupt decrease in the concentration of compounds. ABSTRACT This paper results from a participatory research with children in public spaces. The research, guided by a framework based on the Sociology of Childhood and the Urban Studies, offers an interdisciplinary dialogue that considers childhood as a generational category of its own worth, constituted by children as social actors with the ‘right to a voice’, recognizing that they have particular modes of communication, relationship and cultures (Dornelles; Fernandes, 2015; Sarmento, 2003; 2008). From the Sociology of Childhood’s perspective, the concept of ‘city’ is widely used when discussing children’s participation, even if such actions do not always take place in the context of the city. It is the case of the space where our research took place, as it seemed to us that the word “city” did not took into consideration the characteristics of the space under analysis. RESUMO Este artigo resulta das interrogações levantadas a partir de uma pesquisa participativa com crianças em espaços públicos. A investigação, orientada pela Sociologia da Infância e pelos Estudos Urbanos, oferece um diálogo interdisciplinar entre as duas abordagens teóricas, considerando a infância como uma categoria geracional de valor próprio, constituída por crianças como atores sociais com “direito a uma voz”, reconhecendo que elas têm modos de comunicação e relacionamento e também culturas particulares (Dornelles; Fernandes, 2015; Sarmento, 2003; 2008). Abstract Background: The relationship between viral infections and host factors holds high hopes for identifying the role of Interferon Lambda 3 (IFNL3) and Interleukin 6 (IL-6) polymorphisms in the development of Chronic Liver Disease (CLD) in patients infected with hepatitis Delta virus (HDV) in the Western Brazilian Amazon. Methods: Cross-sectional study conducted with a cohort of 40 chronic HDV patients, 27 with CLD and 13 without evident liver damage. Biological samples from the participants were analyzed using the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) technique, followed by sequencing by the automated Sanger method. Results: The rs8099917 T allele, from the IFNL3 gene, showed a higher frequency in both groups; however, it was not possible to establish an association with HDV infection [OR = 1.42 (0.42 - 4.75; p = 0.556 (95% CI). For IL-6, the rs1800795 G allele was superior to rs1800795 C. Analyzing both distributions in the studied groups, any association with HDV was absent (p > 0.05). Conclusion: The results suggest that the rs8099917 T/G (IFNL3) and rs1800795 G/C (IL-6) polymorphisms are not associated with the evolution of HDV in the studied population.
