ABSTRACT: We described the pathological findings of an abortion associated with Yersinia enterocolitica infection in an ewe. A late-gestation aborted ovine fetus and placenta were submitted for necropsy. Pathologic changes were restricted to the chorioallantois. Grossly, cotyledons and intercodilenary regions had areas of mild red discoloration, and cotyledons were covered with a small amount of fibrin. Histological lesions consisted of multifocal, severe necrotizing and fibrinosuppurative placentitis with fibrinoid vasculitis and mineralization. Bacterial culture of lung, abomasum, and placenta samples yielded pure growth of Y. enterocolitica. This report described the first case of infection by Yersinia enterocolitica causing ovine abortion in Brazil.

RESUMO: Descrevemos os achados patológicos de um aborto causado por infecção por Yersinia enterocolitica em uma ovelha. Um feto ovino abortado, em estágio tardio de gestação, e a placenta correspondente foram submetidos à avaliação patológica. As alterações patológicas estavam restritas ao corioalantoide. Macroscopicamente, os cotilédones e as regiões intercotiledonárias estavam avermelhadas e os cotilédones estavam cobertos por pequena quantidade de fibrina. As lesões histológicas consistiam em placentite fibrinosupurativa necrosante multifocal severa, com vasculite fibrinoide e mineralização. A cultura bacteriana de amostras de pulmão, abomaso e placenta revelou crescimento puro de Y. enterocolitica. Este relato descreve o primeiro caso de infecção por Y. enterocolitica causando aborto em ovino no Brasil.

RESUMO Objetivos: compreender a experiência dos enfermeiros imersos no mundo da vida cotidiana da doação de órgãos e tecidos. Métodos: este estudo foi fundamentado em pressupostos da fenomenologia social de Alfred Schütz e realizado com 27 enfermeiros que atuam nas Comissões Intra-Hospitalares de Doação de Órgãos e Tecidos para Transplantes em estados do Nordeste do Brasil. Os dados foram coletados por entrevista fenomenológica, analisados conforme referencial adotado e confrontados com produções científicas. Resultados: as experiências dos enfermeiros permitiram vislumbrar a conquista e o permanecimento imerso no espaço do mundo da vida cotidiana da doação de órgãos e tecidos. Considerações Finais: a experiência dos enfermeiros advinda de ações diferenciadas na vida das pessoas que dependem de um transplante de órgãos e tecidos liga-se às relações sociais instituídas no mundo da vida.

ABSTRACT Objectives: to understand the experience of nurses immersed in the everyday world of organ and tissue donation. Methods: study on the social phenomenology of Alfred Schütz, carried out with 27 nurses who work on Intra-Hospital Committees for Donation of Organs and Tissues for Transplants in states in the Northeast of Brazil. Data were collected through phenomenological interviews and analyzed according to the adopted framework and compared with scientific productions. Results: the nurses’ experiences allowed us to glimpse the achievement and remaining immersed in the space of the world of daily life of organ and tissue donation. Final Considerations: the experience of nurses from different actions in the lives of people who depend on an organ and tissue transplant concerns the social relations established in the world of life.

RESUMEN Objetivos: comprender la experiencia de enfermeras inmersas en el mundo cotidiano de la donación de órganos y tejidos. Métodos: estudio sobre la fenomenología social de Alfred Schütz, realizado con 27 enfermeros que actúan en Comités Intrahospitalarios de Donación de Órganos y Tejidos para Trasplantes en estados del Nordeste de Brasil. Los datos fueron recolectados a través de entrevistas fenomenológicas y analizados según el marco adoptado y comparados con producciones científicas. Resultados: las experiencias de las enfermeras permitieron vislumbrar el logro y la permanencia inmersa en el espacio del mundo de la vida cotidiana de la donación de órganos y tejidos. Consideraciones Finales: la experiencia de los enfermeros desde diferentes acciones en la vida de las personas que dependen de un trasplante de órganos y tejidos concierne a las relaciones sociales que se establecen en el mundo de la vida.

Resumo O objetivo dessa pesquisa foi avaliar o potencial fitobiótico dos óleos de Copaifera langsdorffii (copaíba), Carapa guianensis (andiroba), Attalea speciosa (babaçu), Mauritia flexuosa (buriti) e Caryocar brasiliense (pequi), além de dois tipos de extrato aquoso de Terminalia catappa (amendoeira), como alternativas ao uso de antibióticos com princípios ativos em enrofloxacino ou oxitetraciclina na piscicultura continental. Para isso, foram selecionados cinco patógenos espécie-específicos de elevada ocorrência e disseminação em sistemas de produção piscícola continental. O potencial de virulência das cepas foi avaliado por meio de testes de Gram, catalase e atividade hemolítica, seguido de teste de halo de inibição para os potenciais fitobióticos. Todas as cepas selecionadas apresentaram atividade de virulência in vitro e prosseguiram para a avaliação de inibição, na qual foram mensuradas as zonas inibitórias dos produtos testados, além de analisar seus efeitos bactericida ou bacteriostáticos. Dos produtos avaliados, apenas A. speciosa não apresentou halo inibitório frente aos patógenos analisados, já os óleos de C. brasiliense, M. flexuosa, C. guianensis, C. langsdorffii e o extrato a quente de T. catappa apresentaram efeito bactericida, com resultados superiores (P > 0,05) em comparação ao controle positivo com oxitetraciclina. Os óleos de M. flexuosa e C. langsdorffii mostraram-se competitivos in vitro em comparação ao uso dos antibióticos com princípio ativo de enrofloxacino ou oxitetraciclina, demonstrando ação antibactericida contra Aeromonas hydrophila, A. cavie, A. jandaei e Streptococcus agalactiae.

Abstract The aim of this study was to evaluate the phytobiotic potential of the oils from Copaifera langsdorffii (copaiba), Carapa guianensis (andiroba), Attalea speciosa (babassu), Mauritia flexuosa (buriti), and Caryocar brasiliense (pequi), as well as two types of aqueous extracts from Terminalia catappa (tropical almond), as alternatives to antibiotics containing enrofloxacin or oxytetracycline as active ingredients in continental aquaculture. Five species-specific pathogens with high prevalence and dissemination in continental fish farming systems were selected for the study. The virulence potential of the strains was assessed using Gram staining, catalase, and hemolytic activity tests, followed by inhibition halo assays to evaluate the phytobiotic potential. All selected strains exhibited in vitro virulence activity and were subjected to inhibition evaluations, where the inhibitory zones of the tested products were measured, along with their bactericidal or bacteriostatic effects. Among the evaluated products, only A. speciosa did not exhibit an inhibitory halo against the analyzed pathogens. Conversely, the oils from C. brasiliense, M. flexuosa, C. guianensis, C. langsdorffii, and the hot extract of T. catappa demonstrated bactericidal effects, yielding superior results (P > 0.05) compared to the positive control with oxytetracycline. The oils from M. flexuosa and C. langsdorffii proved to be competitive in vitro compared to antibiotics containing enrofloxacin or oxytetracycline as active ingredients, showing antibacterial action against Aeromonas hydrophila, A. caviae, A. jandaei, and Streptococcus agalactiae.

Resumo Uma nova espécie de Phalloceros é descrita do alto rio Paraná, alto rio Paraíba do Sul e cabeceiras de rios costeiros no sudeste do Brasil. A espécie distingue-se das congêneres por caracteres da genitália masculina e feminina, contagens de raios da nadadeira dorsal, formato do perfil dorsal e pigmentação e posição da mancha escura verticalmente alongada nos flancos. A nova espécie foi identificada erroneamente na literatura como P. harpagos. Nossa análise de sequências de DNA de espécimes da localidade tipo esclareceu que P. harpagos é restrita a drenagens na margem direita do médio Paraíba do Sul e bacias costeiras na região metropolitana do Rio de Janeiro. A nova espécie difere de P. harpagos pela presença de uma projeção laminar de pele em forma de capuz localizada entre o ânus e a papila urogenital da maioria das fêmeas, e uma aba lamelar arredondada na margem distal de ambos os apêndices gonopodiais em machos maduros pequenos (< 21,2 mm CP). A análise do gene mitocondrial CO1 revelou uma divergência genética de 6% entre a nova espécie e P. harpagos, fornecendo forte suporte para a distinção da nova espécie.

Abstract A new species of Phalloceros is described from the upper rio Paraná, the upper rio Paraíba do Sul, and headwaters of coastal rivers in southeastern Brazil. This species is distinguished from congeners by characters of both male and female genitalia, dorsal fin-ray counts, dorsal-profile shape, and pigmentation and position of the vertically elongated dark spot on the flanks. The species has been misidentified in the literature as P. harpagos. Our DNA sequence analysis of specimens from the type-locality has clarified that P. harpagos is restricted to drainages on the right bank of the middle Paraíba do Sul and to coastal drainages in the metropolitan region of Rio de Janeiro. The new species differs from P. harpagos by a flattened, hood-like projection of skin located between the anus and the urogenital papilla in most females, and by a rounded lamellar flap on the distal margin of both gonopodial appendices in small mature males (< 21.2 mm SL). Mitochondrial CO1 gene analysis revealed a 6% genetic divergence between the new species and P. harpagos, providing strong support for the distinctiveness of this new species.

Abstract Contemporary legal-philosophical criticism has predominantly exercised a negative dimension. It has not, however, presented a positive, propositional dimension that offers something new in times of crisis in utopian thinking and the alleged absence of alternatives. It is then proposed to reevaluate how the philosophy of law, as a practical philosophy, when thematizing action, prescribes and offers possibilities for the future. To this end, the concept of conjecture, in Reale, and institutional imagination, in Unger, iwill be examined for the purpose of assembling elements to re-propose philosophizing about law as projectual thinking. It will be concluded that the philosophy of law possesses imaginative potential that can be harnessed to conceive projects for new norms, institutions and societies, reconnecting thought and action.

Resumo A crítica jusfilosófica contemporânea tem exercitado sobretudo uma dimensão negativa, deixando de apresentar uma dimensão positiva, propositiva, que oferte o novo, tão necessário em tempos de crise do pensamento utópico e de suposta ausência de alternativas. Propõe-se, então, reavaliar como a filosofia do direito, na condição de filosofia prática, ao tematizar o agir, prescreve e oferece possibilidades de futuro. Para tanto, examinar-se-á a conjetura, em Reale, e a imaginação institucional, em Unger, extraindo-lhes elementos para repropor a jusfilosofia como pensamento projetual. Concluir-se-á que a filosofia do direito possui potencialidades imaginativas que podem ser aproveitadas a fim de conceber projetos de novas normas, instituições e sociedades, reaproximando pensamento e ação.

ABSTRACT: A 20-year-old, sexually intact male Dutch Warmblood horse was presented with a 5-day history of difficulty moving and non-flexion of the right pelvic limb, followed by subcutaneous swelling and permanent lateral decubitus. Despite attempts at palliative care, the horse was euthanized after clinical worsening and lack of treatment response. The main gross finding was a soft, red-to-black, lobulated mass involving the right semitendinosus, semimembranosus, and biceps femoris muscles. Soft, red nodules were also seen in all pulmonary lobes and adrenal glands. Histology revealed neoplastic proliferation of malignant polygonal cells, occasionally arranged in irregular anastomosing vascular channels filled with erythrocytes. Neoplastic cells were immunoreactive for factor VIII-related antigen, confirming the blood vascular origin. A final diagnosis of epithelioid hemangiosarcoma was made. These findings reinforced the inclusion of hemangiosarcoma as a differential diagnosis of equine muscular lesions and highlighted the histological features of the epithelioid hemangiosarcoma subtype.

RESUMO: Um cavalo macho não castrado, Sela Holandesa, de 20 anos de idade apresentou histórico de dificuldade de movimentação e não flexão do membro pélvico direito, seguido por inchaço subcutâneo e decúbito lateral permanente. Apesar das tentativas de cuidados paliativos, o cavalo foi eutanasiado após piora clínica e falta de resposta ao tratamento. O principal achado macroscópico foi uma massa macia, vermelha a preta e lobulada envolvendo os músculos semitendinoso, semimembranoso e bíceps femoral direito. Nódulos macios e vermelhos também foram observados nos lobos pulmonares e adrenais. A histologia revelou proliferação neoplásica de células poligonais malignas, ocasionalmente arranjadas em estruturas vasculares irregulares preenchidas por eritrócitos. As células neoplásicas foram imunorreativas para antígeno relacionado ao fator VIII, confirmando a origem vascular sanguínea. Portanto, foi realizado o diagnóstico final de hemangiossarcoma epitelioide intramuscular. Esses achados reforçaram a inclusão do hemangiossarcoma como diagnóstico diferencial das lesões musculares equinas e destacaram as características histológicas do subtipo hemangiossarcoma epitelioide.

ABSTRACT: Nerium oleander, also known as “espirradeira” in Brazil, is a shrub or small tree widely used as an ornamental plant in temperate and subtropical regions of the world. Ingestion of N. oleander can cause intoxication due to the presence of cardioactive glycosides, in both humans and animals. This study aims to report the epidemiological, clinical, postmortem, and immunohistochemical features of an outbreak of natural intoxication by N. oleander in cattle and the use of immunohistochemistry (IHC) for troponin C, for the first time, in this intoxication in the species. Twenty-eight cattle had access to pruned branches of N. oleander and 20 animals started presenting clinical signs of apathy, anorexia, ataxia, tachypnea, tremors, and recumbency ten hours after the consumption. Eight cattle progressed to death 48 hours after the clinical progression and one was submitted for necropsy. Macroscopic findings included petechiae and ecchymosis on the epicardium and endocardium. Histologically, there were multifocal areas of necrosis of individual or multiple cardiomyocytes, mainly in the left ventricular papillary muscle. Immunohistochemistry for troponin C revealed decrease or absence of cytoplasmic immunolabeling in necrotic cardiomyocytes. Although intoxication by N. oleander is uncommon in cattle, it should be considered as a differential diagnosis for other conditions that cause sudden or acute death in livestock and IHC for troponin C is an auxiliary tool in the identification of peracute and acute cardiac lesions.

RESUMO: Nerium oleander, conhecido popularmente como “espirradeira” no Brasil, é um arbusto amplamente utilizado como planta ornamental em regiões temperadas e subtropicais do mundo. A ingestão de N. oleander pode causar intoxicação devido à presença de glicosídeos cardioativos, tanto em humanos, quanto em animais. Este trabalho tem como objetivo relatar os achados epidemiológicos, clínicos, patológicos e imuno-histoquímicos de um surto de intoxicação natural por N. oleander em bovinos e o uso da imuno-histoquímica (IHQ) para troponina C pela primeira vez nesse tipo de intoxicação na espécie. Vinte e oito bovinos tiveram acesso a galhos de N. oleander após poda e 20 desses bovinos apresentaram sinais clínicos de apatia, anorexia, ataxia, taquipneia, tremores e decúbito dez horas após a ingestão. Oito bovinos morreram 48 horas após o início do curso clínico e um animal foi submetido à necropsia. Os achados macroscópicos incluíram petéquias e equimoses no epicárdio e no endocárdio. Histologicamente, havia áreas multifocais de necrose de cardiomiócitos individuais ou múltiplos, principalmente no músculo papilar do ventrículo esquerdo. A IHQ para troponina C revelou uma acentuada diminuição ou ausência na imunomarcação citoplasmática em cardiomiócitos necróticos. Embora a intoxicação por N. oleander seja incomum em bovinos, ela deve ser considerada como diagnóstico diferencial para outras condições que induzam morte súbita ou aguda em rebanhos e a IHQ para troponina C é uma ferramenta complementar na identificação de lesões hiperagudas e agudas cardíacas.

This study presents the synthesis and characterization of five Schiff bases derived from the reaction of 4-(2-aminoethyl)-benzenesulfonamide (compound 1) with corresponding aldehydes, (benzaldehyde, 2-pyridinecarboxaldehyde, 2-quinolinecarboxaldehyde, 8-hydroxy2-quinolinecarboxaldehyde and 4-imidazolecarboxaldehyde, for compounds 2-6, respectively). Characterization was performed by various spectroscopic techniques and supported by density functional theory (DFT) calculations. The crystal structures revealed how the substituent groups influenced the present supramolecular interactions. Compounds 1-4 and 6 showed no cytotoxicity to BHK-21 and VERO E6 cells at the highest concentration of 50 µmol L-1, while compound 5 was cytotoxic at this concentration. Compound 5 was active against the Chikungunya virus at the concentration of 10 µmol L-1, highlighting the effect of the 8-hydroxyquinoline substituent for the antiviral activity. For Zika virus, compound 6 was the only one active at 50 µmol L-1. The results suggest the potential of combining sulfonamides with other chemotypes for further development of antiviral agents, especially in the treatment of arboviral diseases.

ABSTRACT This research evaluates the quality of life of the ninety-two cities in the state of Rio de Janeiro using a non-compensatory composite aggregator index. It was a multimethodological research, which combines a qualitative conceptual map with a quantitative multicriteria model to assess variables of difficult definition. The criteria are based on Maslow’s concepts, which also define the weights between them, bringing more coherence to the index. We conclude that our measurement model with non-compensatory rationality offers an alternative for calculating the quality of life. The cities of Niteroi, Rio de Janeiro and Volta Redonda scored best in our proposed index. Silva Jardim, Sumidouro and São Francisco de Itabapoana scored worst. Niteroi scored best in Physiological and Esteem needs. Nova Friburgo scored best in Safety needs. Mesquita scored best in Love and belonging needs. A sensitivity analysis shows that our method’s structure makes results distortion difficult.

ABSTRACT: The aim of this study was to describe the pathological findings and causes of jaundice in 44 cats (Felis catus) over a six-year period. The cats were from two Brazilian metropolitan areas: 34.1% were female, 56.8% were male, and 9.1% had no information regarding their sex. Their ages ranged from 6 months to 13 years. Most of the cats examined were of a mixed breed (40/44), whereas the others were Angora (2/44), Oriental Short Hair (1/44) and Persian (1/44). All animals had mild to marked jaundice, and 39 were diagnosed with mild to marked anemia. The classification of icterus types (pre-hepatic, hepatic and post-hepatic) was based on gross and microscopic findings. Of the 44 animals, 10 were classified as pre-hepatic icterus, 33 with hepatic icterus and seven with post-hepatic icterus. In some cats, two types of icterus were found, of which five were classified as pre-hepatic and hepatic icterus, and one case was hepatic and post-hepatic icterus. According to the gross and microscopic findings, the cause of pre-hepatic icterus was idiopathic hemolytic anemia. The most frequent cause of hepatic icterus was hepatic lipidosis (26/44), followed by perihepatitis and hepatitis compatible with feline infectious peritonitis, lymphoma, glycogenic degeneration, cholangiocarcinoma and metastatic myeloid leukemia. In animals with post-hepatic icterus, the causes included cholangitis due to Platynosomum spp. infection, cholangioma of the common hepatic duct, and chronic cholangitis. Understanding the etiopathogenesis of jaundice requires an accurate clinic-pathological study and concomitant causes of the disease in cats should be considered.

RESUMO: O objetivo deste estudo foi descrever os achados patológicos e as causas da icterícia em 44 gatos (Felis catus), durante um período de seis anos. Os gatos eram provenientes de duas regiões metropolitanas brasileiras; 34,1% eram fêmeas, 56,8% eram machos e 9,1% não tinham informação sobre o sexo. A idade variou de 6 meses a 13 anos. A maioria dos gatos examinados era de raça mista (40/44), enquanto os restantes eram Angorá (2/44), Oriental de pelo curto (1/44) e Persa (1/44). Todos os gatos apresentavam icterícia leve a acentuada e 39 foram diagnosticados com anemia discreta a grave. A classificação dos tipos de icterícia (pré-hepática, hepática e pós-hepática) baseou-se em achados macroscópicos e microscópicos. Dos 44 animais, 10 foram classificados como icterícia pré-hepática, 33 com icterícia hepática e sete com icterícia pós-hepática. Contudo, em alguns gatos, foram encontrados dois tipos de icterícia, cinco dos quais foram classificados como icterícia pré-hepática e hepática e um caso como icterícia hepática e pós-hepática. De acordo com os achados macroscópicos e microscópicos, a causa da icterícia pré-hepática foi anemia hemolítica idiopática. A causa mais frequente de ícterícia hepática foi a lipidose hepática (26/44), seguida de peri-hepatite e hepatite compatível com peritonite infecciosa felina, linfoma, degeneração glicogênica, colangiocarcinoma e leucemia mieloide metastática. Nos gatos com icterícia pós-hepática, as causas incluíram colangite devida a infecção por Platynosomum spp., colangioma do ducto hepático comum e colangite crônica. Atualmente, a compreensão da etiopatogenia da icterícia requer um estudo clínico-patológico preciso e causas concomitantes da doença em gatos devem ser consideradas.

ABSTRACT With the growth of the demand flow and its variability at an emergency department, the complexity to deal with the prioritization of assistance also increases, seeking to offer a quality service. In this sense, several systematized risk triage protocols were created to organize the queues at the emergency, establishing an order of service to ensure that patients do not wait more than a safe time to receive their first medical care. Therefore, the objective of this work is to analyze and evaluate the behavior of an emergency department using a discrete event simulation model. For the results, it was possible to better understand the patient flow, identify problems and difficulties in the system, propose alternatives to deal with patient prioritization, and evaluate the performance of these alternatives through the Goal Question Metric methodology.

Abstract With the increase in floods in urban areas, the use of permeable pavement has become increasingly advantageous. In this context, the objective of this study was to evaluate the influence of the addition of concrete floor polishing waste (CFPW) on the physical, mechanical, and microstructural behavior of permeable concrete. Three different mixtures were evaluated: a reference sample determined based on the literature review and dosed with natural aggregates and two other samples with the addition of 2% CFPW and 4% CFPW, respectively, in relation to cement mass. When comparing the dosages of 2% CFPW and 4% CFPW to the reference sample, there was an increase in the average compressive strength of 57.45% and 33.78% for three days of curing, and 45.41% and 37.20% for seven days of curing. Furthermore, the flexural strength of 2% and 4% CFPW samples exhibited a superior performance of 55.70% and 58.75%, respectively, compared to the control after three days. At 28 days of age, the 4% CFPW composition showcased a 16.3% increase relative to the control and an 11% improvement compared to the 2% CFPW composition. For the permeability tests, no significant variations were observed. For the 2% CFPW and 4% CFPW samples, respectively, a reduction in the void ratio was observed to 25.08% and 12.44%. A good correlation between compressive and flexural strengths was determined.

Resumo Com o aumento das inundações nas áreas urbanas, a utilização de pavimentos permeáveis tornou-se cada vez mais vantajosa. Nesse contexto, o objetivo deste estudo foi avaliar a influência da adição de resíduo de polimento de piso de concreto (RPFC) no comportamento físico, mecânico e microestrutural do concreto permeável. Foram avaliadas três misturas diferentes: uma amostra de referência determinada com base em revisão de literatura e dosada com agregados naturais e outras duas amostras com adição de 2% de CFPW e 4% de CFPW, respectivamente, em relação à massa de cimento. Ao comparar as dosagens de 2% CFPW e 4% CFPW com a amostra de referência, houve aumento na resistência média à compressão de 57.45% e 33.78% para três dias de cura, e de 45.41% e 37.20% para sete dias de cura. Além disso, a resistência à tração na flexão das amostras de 2% e 4% CFPW apresentou desempenho superior de 55,70% e 58,75%, respectivamente, em comparação com a dosagem controle após três dias. Aos 28 dias de idade das amostras, a composição de 4% de CFPW apresentou um aumento de 16,3% em relação ao controle e uma melhoria de 11% em comparação com a composição de 2% de CFPW. Para os testes de permeabilidade não foram observadas variações significativas. Para as amostras de 2% CFPW e 4% CFPW, respectivamente, foi observada uma redução no índice de vazios para 25,08% e 12,44%. Uma boa correlação entre resistências à compressão e flexão foi determinada.

Amongst the parliamentary amendments there are individual amendments (EPI), which present themselves as an opportunity for the Representatives to benefit regions with greater needs, especially in health, as well as to privilege their electoral stronghold, in order to guarantee political survival. Thus, this article aims to identify which indicators, health needs or political gain, favor the indication of EPI for health (EPIs). For this purpose, a multiple linear regression was carried out with panel data for the Brazilian municipalities that raised funds via EPIs, in the period 2012-2018. As a main result, it was identified that the allocation of EPIs is driven by the combination of technical factors, considering health needs of the municipalities, and political factors. As proposed by the Public Choice Theory, Representatives and voters seek to maximize their interests, the latter, throughout local policies and, the former, staying in power, with political networks being very important in this process. However, in order to improve the conditions of the public health system, it becomes important, in the allocation of EPIs, a greater commitment to technical factors.

RESUMO Dentre as emendas parlamentares têm-se as individuais - EPIs, que se apresentam como oportunidade de o parlamentar beneficiar regiões com maiores necessidades, sobretudo em saúde, assim como privilegiar seu reduto eleitoral, a fim de garantir a sobrevivência política. Dessa forma, o presente artigo tem como objetivo identificar quais indicadores, necessidade de saúde ou ganho político, favorecem a indicação das EPIs destinadas à saúde. Para tanto, foi realizada a regressão linear múltipla, com dados em painel para os municípios brasileiros que angariaram recursos via EPIs, no período 2012 - 2018. Como principal resultado foi identificado que a alocação das EPIs é impulsionada pela combinação de fatores técnicos, que consideram a necessidade de saúde e fatores políticos. Como propõe a Teoria da Escolha Pública, parlamentares e eleitores buscam maximizar seus interesses, estes, visando políticas locais e; aqueles, o poder, sendo as redes políticas muito importantes nesse processo. Entretanto, a fim de melhorar as condições do sistema público de saúde, torna-se importante, na alocação das EPIs, maior comprometimento com fatores técnicos.

Entre las enmiendas parlamentarias se encuentran las enmiendas individuales (EPI), que se presentan como una oportunidad para que el parlamentario beneficie a las regiones con mayores necesidades, especialmente en salud, así como para privilegiar su baluarte electoral, a fin de garantizar la supervivencia política. Así, este artículo tiene como objetivo identificar qué indicadores, necesidades de salud o ganancia política, favorecen la indicación de EPI para la salud (EPIs). Para ello, se realizó una regresión lineal múltiple con datos de panel para los municipios brasileños que recaudaron fondos vía EPIs, en el período 2012-2018. Como principal resultado, se identificó que la asignación de EPIs es impulsada por la combinación de factores técnicos, que consideran la necesidad de salud, y factores políticos. Tal y como propone la Teoría de la Elección Pública, los parlamentarios y votantes buscan maximizar sus intereses, los segundos, las políticas locales y, los primeros, la permanencia en el poder, siendo las redes políticas muy importantes en este proceso. Sin embargo, para mejorar las condiciones del sistema público de salud, se vuelve importante, en la asignación de EPIs, un mayor compromiso con los factores técnicos.

RESUMO: O aumento da produção ovina está diretamente relacionado ao status sanitário do rebanho. O Brasil é um dos maiores produtores mundiais de ovinos, e o rebanho está concentrado nas regiões nordeste e sul do país. As doenças infecciosas são responsáveis por perdas econômicas severas que resultam da diminuição na produção de leite e carne, mortes e custos com tratamentos. Entre os agentes infecciosos, as doenças de origem viral são, em sua maioria, descritas em relatos de caso ou estudos retrospectivos. Este estudo teve como objetivo revisar as principais características das doenças virais que afetam ovinos no território brasileiro, e qual sua situação atual. Nós incluímos oito doenças virais diagnosticadas no Brasil: raiva, língua azul, ectima contagioso, febre aftosa, maedi-visna, tumor enzoótico nasal, adenocarcinoma pulmonar ovino, e pestivirose. Revisamos os achados etiológicos, epidemiológicos, clínicos e patológicos de cada agente e incluímos seus respectivos diagnósticos diferenciais, informações acerca dos métodos diagnósticos para confirmação da etiologia da doença e medidas de controle e prevenção. Esse estudo tem o propósito de servir como objetivo servir de material de consulta rápida, especialmente para veterinários de campo realizar um diagnóstico acurado.

ABSTRACT: The increase in sheep production is directly related to the health status of the flock. Brazil is one of the largest sheep producers in the world, and the sheep flock is concentrated in southern and northeast regions. Infectious diseases are responsible for severe economic losses resulting from a decrease in milk and meat production, deaths, and cost of treatment. Among infectious diseases, viral diseases are described chiefly in case reports or retrospective studies. This study aimed to review the main features of viral diseases that affect sheep in Brazil and their current situation in the Brazilian territory. We included eight viral diseases described in Brazil: rabies, bluetongue, contagious ecthyma, foot and mouth disease, visna-maedi, enzootic nasal tumor, ovine pulmonary adenocarcinoma, and border disease. We review the etiological, epidemiological, clinical, and pathological findings for each agent and included differential diagnoses, information on recommended diagnostic methods to confirm the disease etiology, and control measures. This study served as quick consultation material for field veterinarians for an accurate diagnosis.

ABSTRACT Irrigated agriculture is considered one of the most important techniques for agricultural production in the world, despite being the sector that uses water resources the most. Thus, technological advances have been constantly developed and applied in the sector as a way to improve water management and reduce its consumption, considering that some cultures are affected by economic costs and feasibilities of production, because the water cost has increased significantly in recent years. Remote sensing is a technology that has provided good results for estimating evapotranspiration (ETr) in producing areas, enabling more efficient irrigation management for low costs. This study aimed to answer the question about how the generation of irrigation management zones (IMZs) can be used to optimize water use and improve irrigation systems and which ETr models are better for it. Three ETr estimation models (Surface Energy Balance Algorithm for Land [SEBAL], Mapping Evapotranspiration at High Resolution and with Internalized Calibration [METRIC] and Simple Algorithm for Evapotranspiration Retrieving [SAFER]) were used to design IMZs in center pivot cultivated with cotton. The design of IMZs with ETr data proved to be a viable alternative, making it possible to improve water management in irrigated systems, reducing costs with viability irrigation for cotton and others cultures. The METRIC method displayed the greatest ease in obtaining the data used in the ETr estimation for generating the IMZs.
