RESUMO Objetivou-se avaliar a suplementação de protease em dietas com baixa proteína contendo farinha de penas (FP) sobre o desempenho e o rendimento de carcaça de codornas de corte. Foram utilizadas 240 codornas, machos, distribuídas em delineamento inteiramente ao acaso, em esquema fatorial 2x 3 (com e sem protease x 3 níveis de FP (0%, 5% e 10%)), totalizando seis tratamentos (dieta reduzida (DR) em 8% da exigência de proteína bruta e aminoácidos + 0% FP; DR + 5% FP; DR + 10% FP; DR + 0% FP + protease; DR + 5% FP + protease e DR + 10% FP + protease), quatro repetições de 10 codornas por parcela, nas fases de oito-21 dias e oito-35 dias de idade. Observou-se interação (P≤0,05) entre os níveis de FP e protease no ganho de peso de oito-21 dias. Os níveis de FP influenciaram (P≤0,05) o consumo de ração e o ganho de peso de oito-21 e oito-35 e a conversão alimentar de oito-21 dias. Verificou-se interação (P≤0,05) entre aprotease e a inclusão de FPpara o peso corporalaos 35 dias. Conclui-se que aFP pode ser utilizada em até 5% em dietas para codornas de corte semsuplementação comprotease.

ABSTRACT The objective of this study was to evaluate protease supplementation in low-protein diets containing feather meal (FP) on the performance and carcass yield of meat-type quails. Twenty male quails were used in a completely randomized design, in a 2 x 3 factorial scheme (with and without protease x 3 FP levels (0, 5 and 10%)), totaling six treatments (Reduced diet (RD) in 8 % of the requirement of crude protein and amino acids + 0% FP; RD + 5% FP; RD + 10% FP; RD + 0% FP + protease; RD + 5% FP + protease and RD + 10% FP + protease), four replicates of 10 quails per plot, in the phases of 8-21 days and 8-35 days of age. Interaction (P≤0.05) was observed between FP and protease levels on weight gain over the period of 8-21 days. The levels of FP influenced (P≤0.05) the feed intake and the weight gain of 8-21 and 8-35 and the feed conversion ratio of 8-21 days. There was interaction (P≤0.05) between protease supplementation and FP inclusion for body weight at 35 days. It is concluded that FP can be used up to 5% in diets for meat-type quails without protease supplementation.

ABSTRACT The aim of the present study was to evaluate the antibacterial behavior of polypyrrole nanoparticles (PPy-NPs) in water against biofilm producer or not S. aureus isolated from cows and goats with mastitis. One hundred and thirty-eight isolates of S. aureus were initially evaluated for biofilm formation by spectrophotometry in microplates. In addition, the minimum inhibition concentration (MIC) and minimum bactericidal concentration (MBC) of PPy-NPs in water for planktonic S. aureus were determined. From the bovine samples analyzed, 5 (4.46%) S. aureus isolates showed a strong biofilm production, 17 (15.18%) moderate production, 36 (32.14%) with weak production and 54 (48.21%) did not produce biofilms. Strains from goats (26) showed no biofilm production in 18 (69.23%) strains and weak biofilm production in 8 (30.76%) strains. The MIC and MBC of S. aureus to PPy-NPs were found in the same concentration (125µɡ/mL) in all strains tested, regardless of biofilm production or not. This finding provides a new insight into the interaction between PPy-NPs and S. aureus, and will offer potential benefits for the control of mastitis.

RESUMO A fabricação de queijo coalho artesanal elaborado com leite de cabra é composta pelas etapas de obtenção do leite, refrigeração, manipulação e armazenamento, que aumentam o risco de contaminação do produto. Objetivou-se neste estudo avaliar o nível de contaminação por Staphylococcus aureus em amostras de queijo coalho artesanal produzido com leite de cabra cru no estado de Pernambuco, Brasil, bem como avaliar a concordância entre a técnica oficial da Instrução Normativa nº62/2003 (Mapa) e a técnica molecular (gene nuc) para identificar S. aureus no queijo. Houve crescimento de colônias típicas de Staphylococcus aureus em 100% das amostras, e a contagem variou de 7,0×103 a 8,6×106 UFC/g. Das 30 amostras analisadas, 18 (60,0%) apresentaram valores superiores ou iguais a 105UFC/g, e 21 (70,0%) estavam contaminadas por S. aureus. A concordância entre os métodos de diagnóstico de S. aureus em queijo coalho caprino foi moderada. O nível de contaminação dos queijos revela a necessidade de ações de melhoria das condições de elaboração do produto, a fim de garantir um produto seguro aos consumidores.

ABSTRACT The manufacture of artisanal Coalho cheese made from goat's milk is composed of the steps of obtaining milk, refrigeration, handling and storage that increase the risk of product contamination. The objective of this study was to evaluate the level of contamination by Staphylococcus aureus in samples of artisanal Coalho cheese produced with raw goat's milk in the state of Pernambuco, Brazil. In addition to evaluating the agreement between the official technique of Normative Instruction nº62/2003 (MAPA) and the molecular technique (nuc gene) to identify S. aureus in cheese. There was growth of typical Staphylococcus aureus colonies in 100% of the samples and the count ranged from 7.0×103 to 8.6×106 CFU/g. Of the 30 analyzed samples, 18 (60.0%) presented values greater than or equal to 105CFU/g and 21 (70.0%) were contaminated by S. aureus. The agreement between the diagnostic methods of S. aureus in goat cheese was moderate. The level of contamination of cheeses reveals the need for actions to improve the preparation conditions of the product in order to guarantee a safe product to consumers.

Clinical studies show that physical exercise has anxiolytic and pro-cognitive properties for both healthy individuals and psychiatric patients. Most of these data refer to the effects of aerobic exercise. However, other modalities such as resistance exercise deserve more attention because they may also modulate brain function. This study aimed to compare the effects of an aerobic exercise protocol on a treadmill and a resistance exercise protocol on a ladder apparatus on anxiety-like behavior, cognitive flexibility, and neuroplasticity parameters in healthy animals. Adult male Wistar rats were divided into three groups: sedentary control, aerobic training, and resistance training. Subsequently, they were evaluated in the elevated plus-maze (EPM), light-dark box, and modified hole board (mHB) tests. The expressions of synaptophysin and postsynaptic plasticity protein 95 in the dorsal and ventral hippocampus were analyzed by immunofluorescence. The results demonstrated an anxiolytic effect promoted by exercise in the EPM, particularly in the animals submitted to aerobic training, and a mild pro-learning effect of both exercise modalities was observed in the mHB test. All groups showed similar outcomes in the other evaluations. Therefore, the exercise modalities investigated in the present study did not provide considerable modifications to such aspects of the emotional/cognitive functions and neuroplasticity under physiological contexts. Perhaps the two types of exercise acted in neurobiological pathways not analyzed in this study, or the effects may emerge under pathological contexts. These hypotheses should be tested in future studies.

RESUMO Paratuberculose é uma enfermidade crônica e incurável que acomete ruminantes e outras espécies de animais domésticos. É causada pelo Mycobacterium avium subsp. paratuberculosis (MAP) e ainda há a suspeita do seu envolvimento em enfermidades nos humanos como a doença de Crohn, diabetes tipo 1, sarcoidose, esclerose múltipla e tireoidite de Hashimoto. Objetivou-se com esta pesquisa investigar a ocorrência do DNA de MAP em amostras de queijo coalho artesanal adquiridas em estabelecimentos comerciais do Estado de Pernambuco. 40 amostras de queijo coalho artesanal foram submetidas a técnica de Reação em Cadeia da Polimerase em Tempo Real (qPCR) para detecção da região IS900 do MAP. 11 (27,5%) foram positivas com uma média de 195,9 unidades formadoras de colônia (UFC) de MAP por grama de queijo, com detecção mínima de 30,3UFC/g e máxima de 324,2UFC/g. Sendo assim, esse tipo de queijo que é um dos mais consumidos nesta região do Brasil constitui uma fonte de exposição humana ao MAP. Mais pesquisas nessa área devem ser realizadas para avaliar a viabilidade dessa bactéria no queijo coalho.

ABSTRACT Paratuberculosis is a chronic and incurable disease that affects ruminants and other domestic animals. It is caused by Mycobacterium avium subsp. paratuberculosis (MAP) that may also be involved in some human diseases such as Crohn's disease, type 1 diabetes, sarcoidosis, multiple sclerosis, and Hashimoto's thyroiditis. The objective of this study was to investigate the occurrence of MAP DNA in samples of artisanal coalho cheese purchased in the State of Pernambuco. Forty samples of coalho cheese submitted to the Real Time Polymerase Chain Reaction (qPCR) technique were analyzed for the detection of the MAP region IS900. 11 (27.5%) were positive with a mean of 195.9 MAP colony forming unit (CFU) per gram of each sample, with a minimum of 30.3 CFU/g and a maximum of 324.2 CFU/g. Thus, this type of cheese that is one of the most consumed in this region of Brazil constitutes a source of human exposure to MAP. Further research in this area should be performed to evaluate the viability of the bacteria in this cheese type.

RESUMO Doenças entéricas de origem bacteriana são frequentes na indústria de suínos, destacando-se a colibacilose, que afeta principalmente leitões e causa grandes danos à indústria suína em todo o mundo. Cento e vinte e seis cepas de Escherichia coli foram isoladas de swabs obtidos de fragmentos de intestino delgado de 235 suínos saudáveis abatidos em matadouros de Pernambuco (Brasil). O objetivo do presente estudo foi analisar filogeneticamente essas cepas, bem como detectar a produção de biofilme e determinar o perfil de resistência antimicrobiana delas, utilizando-se a reação em cadeia da polimerase (PCR), o teste de adesão em microplacas e a técnica de disco-difusão. 88,10% (111/126) das amostras foram classificadas no grupo filogenético B1; 4,76% (6/126) no grupo D; 3,97% (5/126) no grupo B2; e 3,17% (4/126) no grupo A. As taxas de resistência antimicrobiana observadas foram: lincomicina 100% (126/126), eritromicina 100% (126/126), clortetraciclina 94,44% (119/126), cefalotina 51,59% (65/126), ampicilina 38,89% (49/126), sulfametoxazol + trimetoprima 37,3% (47/126), ciprofloxacina 19,84% (25/126), norfloxacina 14,29% (18/126), gentamicina 8,73% (11/126) e cloranfenicol 5,55% (7/126). O índice de resistência múltipla (IRMA) variou de 0,2 a 0,9. Entre as amostras, 46,03% (58/126) produziram biofilme e 99,21% (125/126) foram multirresistentes. São necessários mais estudos para elucidar a importância de cada grupo filogenético em suínos e evitar a propagação de estirpes de E. coli multirresistentes.

ABSTRACT Enteric diseases of bacterial origin are frequent in the pig industry, of particular notoriety are the colibacillosis that mainly affect piglets and cause great damage to the swine industry worldwide. The aim of the study was to analyze phylogenetics, to detect biofilm production, and to determine antimicrobial resistance profile in 126 strains of Escherichia coli isolated from swabs obtained from fragments of the small intestines of 235 healthy pigs killed in slaughterhouses in Pernambuco (Brazil) using polymerase chain reaction (PCR), adherence to microplates test and disc diffusion technique. Of the analyzed samples, 88.10% (111/126) were classified in phylogenetic group B1; 4.76% (6/126) in group D; 3.97% (5/126) in group B2 and, 3.17% (4/126) in group A. Antimicrobial resistance rates observed were: lincomycin 100% (126/126), erythromycin 100% (126/126), chlortetracycline 94.44% (119/126), cephalothin 51.59% (65/126), ampicillin 38.89% (49/126), sulfamethoxazole + trimethoprim 37.3% (47/126), ciprofloxacin 19.84% (25/126), norfloxacin 14.29% (18/126), gentamicin 8.73% (11/126) and, chloramphenicol 5.55% (7/126). Multiple antibiotic resistance (MAR) ranged from 0.2 to 0.9. Of the strains tested 46.03% (58/126) produced biofilm, and 99.21% (125/126) of the strains exhibited multi-resistance. Further studies are required to elucidate the importance of each phylogenetic group in pigs and to prevent the propagation of multi-resistant E. coli strains.

O objetivo foi identificar o nível mais adequado de óxido de cálcio (CaO) no tratamento da cana-de-açúcar por meio da avaliação da composição química e a digestibilidade in vitro da matéria seca. A cana-de-açúcar foi homogeneizada adicionando os níveis de CaO 0; 0,75; 1,5; 2,25; 3,0; 3,75 e 4,5% em porcentagem de matéria natural, por 24 horas. Os teores de matéria seca e matéria mineral aumentaram, ao passo que o teor de matéria orgânica da cana-de-açúcar diminuiu (P<0,05) de forma linear em função dos níveis de CaO. Não houve efeito dos níveis do CaO sobre o teor de proteína bruta e extrato etéreo. Os teores médios de fósforo mantiveram-se inalterados, porém ocorreu um aumento (P<0,05) no teor de cálcio. Os teores de fibra em detergente neutro, fibra em detergente ácido e celulose diminuíram linearmente em função dos níveis de CaO. Os teores médios da matéria seca indigestível e da fibra em detergente neutro indigestível tiveram redução significativa com o aumento dos níveis de CaO. Os resultados da digestibilidade in vitro da matéria seca (DIVDM) mostraram-se diferentes entre cana-de-açúcar in natura e a com níveis de CaO. Níveis de CaO a partir de 1,5% melhoram o valor nutritivo e a DIVDM da cana-de-açúcar.

The aim of this study was to identify the most adequate level of calcium oxide (CaO) in the treatment of sugar cane by evaluating the chemical composition and in vitro digestibility of dry matter. The sugar cane was homogenized with CaO levels 0, 0.75, 1.5, 2.25, 3.0, 3.75 and 4.5%, in natura matter, for 24 hours. The dry matter and mineral matter increased, while the organic matter of the sugar cane decreased (P <0.05) linearly as a result of the CaO levels. The CaO had no effect on the levels of crude protein and ether extract. The phosphorus concentration remained unchanged, but there was a significant increase (P<0.05) in the calcium content. The contents of neutral detergent fiber, acid detergent fiber and cellulose decreased linearly with the levels of CaO. The average levels of indigestible dry matter and indigestible neutral detergent fiber significantly decreased with increasing levels of CaO. The results showed that the in vitro dry matter digestibility (IVDMD) was different between fresh sugar cane and sugar cane with added levels of CaO from 1.5%. The IVDMD and nutritional value of the sugar cane was improved by adding 1.5% CaO based on fresh content.

Este estudo teve como objetivo avaliar a frequência de mastite clínica e subclínica e descrever os micro-organismos envolvidos no processo inflamatório da glândula mamária nos rebanhos de búfalos leiteiros no Nordeste do Brasil. Foram analisadas 1.896 amostras de leite provenientes de 474 búfalos em quatro propriedades localizadas nos Estados de Alagoas, Bahia, Ceará e Pernambuco. Após o exame físico da glândula mamária, as amostras de leite de cada teto foram submetidas aos testes da caneca do fundo preto e CMT (California Mastitis Test). As amostras que apresentaram scores ++ e +++ no CMT e as positivas para a caneca do fundo preto foram submetidas ao exame microbiológico. Do total de amostras estudadas, 90/1.896 (4,74%) apresentaram mastite clínica. Com relação ao CMT, observou-se que 802/1.896 (42,2%) das amostras demonstraram mastite subclínica. Staphylococcus spp. foram os micro-organismos mais frequentes, seguidos de Corynebacterium spp. e bactérias gram-negativas. Os resultados obtidos neste trabalho demonstram uma elevada prevalência de mastite subclínica em rebanhos bubalinos no Nordeste do Brasil, especialmente causadas por Staphylococcus coagulase negativa (SCN). Recomenda-se que o processo de ordenha seja aprimorado, incluindo melhorias na higiene e treinamento de ordenhadores, a fim de reduzir a frequência da doença nos rebanhos.

Avaliaram-se o fracionamento de carboidratos e a degradabilidade in situ da matéria seca (MS) e da fibra em detergente neutro (FDN) da cana-de-açúcar tratada com óxido de cálcio (CaO). Foram testadas as porcentagens de 0; 0,75; 1,5; 2,25; 3,0; 3,75 e 4,5% de CaO, e o material testemunha (cana-de-açúcar in natura) para a avaliação do fracionamento de carboidratos, e as porcentagens de 0; 1,5; 3,0 e 4,5% de CaO para a avaliação da degradabilidade in situ da MS e da FDN. O CaO foi adicionado em pó na cana-de-açúcar, em porcentagem da matéria natural, por 24 horas. A porcentagem de inclusão de CaO na cana-de-açúcar proporcionou valores mais baixos para teores de carboidratos totais (CT) comparados aos valores da cana-de-açúcar in natura. Observou-se crescimento linear das frações A+B1 e B2, e redução na fração C da cana-de-açúcar em função da porcentagem de CaO. Os maiores valores de fração insolúvel potencialmente degradável da MS e menores de fração indigestível (Ip) da FDN foram observados na cana-de-açúcar com 3,0 e 4,5% de CaO. A adição de 3,0 e 4,5% de CaO na cana-de-açúcar promove diminuição da fração indigestível dos carboidratos e melhores taxas de degradação ruminal tanto da MS quanto da FDN.

Were evaluated the fractioning of carbohydrates and in situ dry matter (DM) and neutral detergent fiber (NDF) of sugarcane treated with calcium oxide (CaO). Levels 0, 0.75, 1.5, 2.25, 3.0, 3.75 and 4.5% CaO, and the material witness (sugarcane in nature) were tested for the assessment of fractioning of carbohydrates and levels 0, 1.5, 3.0 and 4.5% CaO for the evaluation of in situ DM and NDF. The levels of CaO were added in powder form, as a percentage of natural matter in sugarcane for 24 hours. The inclusion levels of CaO in sugarcane showed lower values for the total carbohydrates (TC) when compared with sugarcane in natura. A linear growth of the fractions A + B1 and B2 was observed, as well as a decrease in C fraction of sugarcane depending on the levels of CaO. The highest values of insoluble fraction potentially degradable in rumen and the lower values of NDF indigestible fraction (Ip) were observed in sugarcane with 3.0 and 4.5% CaO. The addition of 3.0 and 4.5% CaO to sugarcane decreased the indigestible carbohydrates fraction and promotes better rates of ruminal degradation of both DM and NDF.

Óleo de Copaifera multijuga Hayne, in natura e as frações foram avaliadas quanto às atividades fungitóxicas in vitro, frente a cinco espécies de fungos filamentosos do gênero Aspergillus e três espécies de leveduras do gênero Candida. Concentrações de óleo resina e de óleo essencial na faixa de 0,08 mg mL-1 a 1,6 mg mL-1 foram usadas para as análises qualitativa e quantitativas. As amostras foram dispostas sobre discos de papel de 5 mm de diâmetro e distribuídos sobre o meio Saboraud em placas de Petri, inoculadas com esporos dos microorganismos e incubadas a 28ºC durante 10 dias. Utilizou-se solução com 1,6 mg mL-1 de nitrato de miconazol como controle positivo. Os resultados qualitativos mostraram que o óleo resina apresentou boa atividade fungistática, porém uma das frações do óleo essencial se mostrou altamente efetiva contra Candida parapsilosis IOC-2882, Aspergillus flavus IOC-3874 e A tamarii IOC-187 com halos de inibição de 16,0±1,4 mm, 19,5±2,1 mm e 12,5±3,5 mm, respectivamente. Já a avaliação quantitativa mostrou que 0,3 mg mL-1 do óleo resina inibiu o crescimento de A. flavus e C. parapsilosis, enquanto que 0,08 mg mL-1 da fração do óleo essencial atingiu esta mesma atividade.

Copaifera multijuga Hayne oil, crude and fractions, was evaluated for its in vitro fungitoxic activities against five species of filamentous fungi belonging to the genus Aspergillus and three yeast species of the genus Candida. Oil-resin and essential oil concentrations ranging from 0.008 mg mL-1 to 1.6 mg mL-1 were used in qualitative and quantitative analyses. Samples were placed onto 5mm-diameter paper disks and distributed on Saboraud culture medium in Petri dishes inoculated with conidia and incubated at 28ºC during 10 days. A solution with 1.6 mg mL-1 of miconazole nitrate was used as positive control. Qualitative results indicated that the oil-resin presented good fungistatic activity; however, one of the essential oil fractions was highly effective against Candida parapsilosis IOC-2882, Aspergillus flavus IOC-3874 and A. tamarii IOC-187, with inhibition halos of 16.0±1.4 mm, 19.5±2.1 mm and 12.5±3.5 mm, respectively. The quantitative evaluation indicated that 0.3 mg mL-1 of the oil-resin inhibited Aspergillus flavus and Candida parapsilosis growth, whereas 0.08 mg mL-1 of the essential oil fraction reached this same activity.

Muitas substâncias químicas disponíveis na natureza, produzidas por plantas ou por microrganismos, podem oferecer novas e excelentes oportunidades para diversificar o controle de pragas na agricultura e na prática agrícola, e, nesse sentido, os fungos podem contribuir de forma positiva. O objetivo deste trabalho foi caracterizar o potencial inibitório na germinação de sementes e no desenvolvimento de plântulas de duas espécies de plantas daninhas em relação aos extratos e substâncias químicas obtidas da biomassa produzida por Pestalotiopsis guepinii - um fungo endofítico da espécie Virola michelii. Foram desenvolvidos bioensaios em condições controladas de 25 ºC e fotoperíodo de 12 horas, para germinação, e de 25 ºC e fotoperíodo de 24 horas, para desenvolvimento da radícula e do hipocótilo. Os extratos brutos foram analisados em concentração de 1,0% (m/v). Os resultados indicaram os extratos mais polares (MeOH-1 e MeOH-2) como de maior potencial inibitório, porém os efeitos promovidos pelos extratos hexânicos e acetato de etila foram expressivos, especialmente em relação à germinação das sementes. Comparativamente, a germinação das sementes das espécies de plantas daninhas se mostrou mais sensível aos efeitos do que o desenvolvimento das plântulas. Das espécies receptoras, Mimosa pudica (malícia) apresentou maior sensibilidade aos efeitos inibitórios dos extratos. Entretanto, na germinação de sementes da espécie Senna obtusifolia (mata-pasto), o extrato MeOH-1 apresentou 100% de inibição. As substâncias ergosterol e peróxido de ergosterol, isoladas do extrato hexânico, quando testadas isoladamente, apresentaram potencial inibitório sempre abaixo dos 35%, não repetindo o potencial inibitório do extrato hexânico, de onde foram isoladas. Quando testadas juntas, não se verificaram aumentos expressivos na atividade herbicida, embora acréscimos na atividade inibitória tenham sido observados.

Many of the chemical compounds found in nature that are produced by plants or microorganisms can offer new and efficient ways of controlling pests in agriculture and agricultural practice, with the help of fungi. The objective of this work is to characterize the inhibitory potential for seed germination and the plantlet development of two weed species using extracts and compounds obtained from biomass produced by Pestalotiopsis guepinii, an endophytic fungus of the species Virola michelii. The bioassays were developed under controlled conditions at 25 ºC and 12-hour photoperiod for germination, and at 25 ºC and 12-hour photoperiod for root and hypocotyl development. The crude extracts were analyzed at a concentration of 1.0% (m/v). The results showed that the more polar extracts (MeOH-1 and MeOH-2) have the highest inhibitory potential, although the hexane and ethyl acetate extract effects were important, especially for seed germination. Comparatively, weed seed germination was more sensitive to the effects than plantlet development. Mimosa pudica was more affected by the inhibitory effects of the extracts. However, for seed germination of Senna obtusifolia, the extract MeOH-1 showed 100% inhibition. The compounds ergosterol and ergosterol peroxide showed an inhibitory potential always below 35%, not showing the inhibitory potential of the hexane extract from which they were isolated. When these compounds were tested together, little increase was observed in the inhibitory activity.

O uso do fogo e de roçadeira para controle de plantas daninhas em pastagens tem se mostrado pouco efetivo. Já o uso de herbicidas sintéticos, embora mais eficaz no controle de plantas daninhas, tem sido questionado quanto ao impacto ambiental. Portanto, a busca de compostos naturais para possível utilização como herbicida é de fundamental importância. Esses fatos motivaram o presente estudo, que teve como objetivos isolar, identificar e caracterizar a atividade alelopática potencial de substâncias químicas produzidas por Myrcia guianensis (pedra-ume-caá). Foram analisados os efeitos potenciais alelopáticos de extratos brutos, partições, óleo essencial e das substâncias químicas isoladas (ácido gálico e ácido protocatecuico) sobre a germinação e o desenvolvimento da radícula e do hipocótilo das plantas daninhas Mimosa pudica (malícia) e Senna obtusifolia (mata-pasto) em pastagens. Os extratos brutos e as partições foram analisados em concentração de 1%; o óleo essencial, em concentrações de 1, 5, 10, 15 e 20 ppm; e as substâncias isoladas, em concentrações de 15, 30, 45 e 60 ppm. A espécie malícia se mostrou mais sensível aos efeitos alelopáticos dos extratos brutos e das partições. O óleo essencial inibiu a germinação da malícia e estimulou a germinação no mata-pasto. A atividade alelopática das substâncias químicas isoladas esteve associada à concentração, e a atividade mais intensa foi em 60 ppm.

The use of fire and mowing as weed methods have proved inefficient. Although more efficient, synthetic chemical herbicides are usually related to environmental problems. Thus, the search for natural herbicides has become a priority matter. Based on these facts, research was conducted on Myrcia guianensis (pedra-ume-caá) including the isolation and identification of chemical substances with allelophatic activity. The allelophatic effects of extracts, fractions, essential oils, and isolated chemical substances (gallic acid and protocatechuic acid) on germination and radicle and hypocotyl growth of weed species Mimosa pudica (malícia) and Senna obtusifolia (mata-pasto) were analyzed. Extracts and fractions were analyzed at a concentration of 1%, essential oils at 15, 30, 45, 60 ppm and the isolated chemical substances at 15, 30, 45, 60 ppm. Malicia showed more sensitivity to the allelophatic effects of extracts and fractions. The essential oil inhibited the germination of M. pudica but stimulated that of S. obtusifolia. The allelophatic effects of the chemical substances were concentration dependent and the strongest activity was observed at 60 ppm.

RESUMO O objetivo desta pesquisa foi avaliar a eficiência de isolados de Metarhizium anisopliae no controle de Mahanarva fimbriolata em cana-de-açúcar. O experimento foi instalado na Companhia Energética Santa Elisa em Sertãozinho, SP. O delineamento experimental foi blocos casualizados com sete tratamentos e quatro repetições, onde foram avaliadas as eficiências dos isolados IBCB 10 (M. fimbriolata - Inst. Biológico), ESALQ 1037 (Percevejo da soja - Paraná) e PL 43 (M. posticata PLANALSUCAR Nordeste), com três ou quatro aplicações. Os isolados foram aplicados na concentração de 1x107 conídios/mL, utilizando-se pulverizador a CO2, com vazão de 200 litros/ ha. Foram realizadas seis avaliações, sendo uma antes das aplicações, e cinco após as aplicações: 30, 60, 81, 101 e 131 dias. Aos 0 dias a infestação era de 2,5 ninfas/metro. ABSTRACT The objective of this research was to evaluate the efficiency of isolates of Metarhizium anisopliae in the control of Mahanarva fimbriolata on sugarcane. The experiment was conducted in Sertãozinho, SP. The experimental design consisted of blocks with seven treatments and four repetitions with the isolates CB 10 (M. fimbriolata - Inst. Biological), ESALQ 1037 (Thumb-tack of the soybean - Paraná) and PL 43 (M. posticata - PLANALSUCAR Nordeste) with three or four applications. The isolates were applied in the concentration of 1x107 conídios/mL with sprayer for CO2 with of 200 liters/ha. Six evaluations were accomplished, being one before the applications, and five after the applications: 30, 60, 81, 101 and 131 days. At 0 days the infestation was of 2.5 nymphs/meter. The potential production of rhamnolipid-type biosurfactants is assessed based on the development of a fermentative process with a strain of Pseudomonas aeruginosa PA1, which was isolated from oil production wastewater in the Northeast of Brazil. These production of molecules using different carbon (n-hexadecane, paraffinic oil, glycerol and babassu oil) and nitrogen sources (NaNO3, (NH4)2SO4 and CH4N2O) was studied. The best results were obtained when using glycerol as substrate. A C/N ratio of 60/1 and use of sodium nitrate as nitrogen source resulted in higher production of the rhamnolipid, expressed by rhamnose (3.16 g/L) and by the yield in relation to biomass (Yp/x = 0.70 g/g). Additionally, physical-chemical characteristics of the spent broth with and without cells were studied, providing a low critical micelle concentration of 19 mg/L and toxicity values of 13 and 13.8 mg/L using two test organisms, the micro crustacean Daphnia similis and the bacterium Vibrio fisheri (Microtox), respectively.
