Abstract: This study aims to answer the following question: how do recognition and understanding properties, involved in the relationship between language and discourse, act towards the integration between form and meaning in the act of language acquisition? In order to answer the question, the unfolding of the notion of signification in Benveniste (1995, 1989) is discussed, to then analyze excerpts of facts related to the language acquisition process of a child. Intersubjective communication involves the significance of discourse, related to the act of understanding - essential in language acquisition for the child and the other to attribute meaning and reference to their discourses; and the significance of the sign, associated with the need that the child and their interlocutor recognize the forms instantiated in the discourse as belonging to the language or as potentialities of such. The excerpts show that, in dealing with recognition and understanding, children situate themselves as interpreters of language-discourse.

Resumo: Este trabalho tem como objetivo responder à seguinte interrogação: como as propriedades de reconhecimento e de compreensão, envolvidas na relação entre língua e discurso, atuam para a integração entre forma e sentido no ato de aquisição da linguagem? Para responder ao questionamento, são discutidos os desdobramentos da noção de significação em Benveniste (1995, 1989) para, após, serem analisados recortes de um fato de aquisição da linguagem de uma criança. A comunicação intersubjetiva envolve a significância do discurso, relacionada à capacidade de compreensão -fundamental na aquisição da linguagem para que a criança e o outro atribuam sentido e referência aos discursos-; e a significância do signo, vinculada à necessidade de reconhecimento pela criança e por seu interlocutor de formas instanciadas no discurso como pertencentes à língua ou como potencialidades para tal. Os recortes mostram que, ao lidar com o reconhecimento e a compreensão, a criança se situa como intérprete da língua-discurso.

RESUMO Este trabalho se sustenta na ideia de que a capacidade simbólica, base da significação, é condição de integração humana à linguagem. Parte-se do pressuposto de que, a cada vez que a língua é atualizada em discurso, via enunciação, há uma nova experiência de significação instaurada na linguagem. Nessa perspectiva, o artigo procura responder à seguinte questão: Como estudar o texto a partir de uma concepção enunciativa de linguagem? A resposta a essa questão é formulada a partir da concepção de que o texto, considerado discurso, resulta da atualização da língua por um locutor, que, por nascer na cultura (Benveniste 1995; 1989), a cada ato de enunciação, realiza um acontecimento diferente e novo para fazer a passagem a sujeito e, nessa passagem, registra o modo como se instaura nos valores culturais da sociedade em que vive. É, com esses princípios, que o estudo enunciativo de um texto é proposto.

ABSTRACT This paper is based on the idea that the symbolic capacity, base of signification, is the condition for the human integration to language. It starts from the assumption that each time language is actualized in discourse, through enunciation, a new experience of signification is established in language. From this standpoint, the article seeks to answer the following question: How to study texts from an enunciative conception of language? The answer to this question is formulated based on the conception that a text, regarded as discourse, results from language being actualized by a speaker. Since the speaker was born in culture (Benveniste 1995; 1989), with every act of enunciation they perform a different and new event to become a subject. In this process, the speaker registers the way they introduce themselves in the cultural values of the society they live in. The enunciative study of a text is proposed with these principles.
