Resumo Microorganismos específicos tem sido usados eficientemente para o controle biológico de fitopatógenos através da produção de substâncias antimicrobianas. Portanto, os objetivos deste estudo foram: estudar a germinação de sementes de Butia purpurascens Glassman e Butia archeri Glassman em diferentes substratos; selecionar e identificar isolados bacterianos rizosféricos e endofíticos de B. purpurascens e B. archeri, e realizar testes de antibiose a partir de microorganismos isolados dessas espécies arbóreas. Não houve diferença entre os substratos de cultivo para as porcentagens de germinação, de sementes duras e de contaminação por fungos nas sementes de B. purpurascens. O isolado bacteriano Bacillus subtilis apresentou melhor capacidade de supressão do crescimento dos dois fungos deterioradores testados nas sementes de B. purpurascens. Não foi encontrada diferença para a inibição do crescimento do fungo Aspergillus niger (fungo deteriorador de sementes de B. archeri) entre os microorganismos com Bacillus sp. e Brevibacillus brevis em comparação ao controle. Na microbiolização das sementes de B. purpurascens e B. archeri realizada com soluções microbiológicas produzidas a partir de cepas endofíticas e rizosféricas de Bacillus sp. não foram observadas diferenças na porcentagem de germinação e contaminação por fungos. Para B. archeri houve contaminação por fungos e bactérias após um dia de cultivo, principalmente nas regiões de lesão proporcionadas pelo processo de extração e escarificação.

Abstract Microorganisms have been efficiently used for the biological control of phytopathogens through the production of antimicrobial substances. However, the objectives of this work were: to study the germination of Butia purpurascens Glassman and Butia archeri Glassman seeds in different substrates, to select and identify the endophytic and rhizospheric bacterial isolates of B. purpurascens and B. archeri, and to perform antibiosis tests based on the isolated microorganisms of these tree species. No difference was found between the cultivation substrates for the percentages of germination, hard seeds, and fungal contamination in the B. purpurascens seeds. The Bacillus subtilis isolated showed the best capacity for suppressing the growth of the two deteriorative fungi tested in B. purpurascens seeds. No difference was found for inhibition of the growth of Aspergillus niger fungus (deteriorative fungus of B. archeri seeds) between the microorganisms with Bacillus sp. and Brevibacillus brevis compared to the control. In the microbiolization of B. purpurascens and B. archeri seeds performed with microbiological solutions produced from the endophytic and rhizospheric strains of Bacillus sp., no differences were observed in the percentages of germination and contamination by fungi. For B. archeri seeds, there was contamination by fungi and bacteria after one day of cultivation, primarily in the regions with lesions caused by the extraction and scarification process.

Resumo Neste estudo o trióxido de molibdênio (MoO3) foi sintetizado pelo método hidrotérmico com temperatura fixa em 180 ºC nos tempos de 1 e 6 h, seguido de tratamento térmico por 6 e 12 h a 300, 450 e 600 ºC. A fase cristalina e as propriedades estruturais da amostra foram caracterizadas pelo método de difração de raios X. O comportamento vibracional das ligações químicas foi verificado por espectroscopias na região do infravermelho e Raman, em que as bandas e picos observados confirmaram a formação do MoO3. A microscopia eletrônica de varredura mostrou a formação de microestruturas da fase hexagonal (h-MoO3) e ortorrômbica (α-MoO3) do MoO3. Além disso, as propriedades de absorção óptica foram medidas por espectroscopia de reflectância difusa e os valores de energia de gap fortam estimados no intervalo de 2,74 a 3,33 eV a partir da função Kubelka-Munk. Os óxidos calcinados a 600 ºC foram os que apresentaram a melhor atividade fotocatalítica, degradando 50% do corante em 2 h de reação.

Abstract In this study, the molybdenum trioxide (MoO3) was synthetized by hydrothermal method with fixed temperature of 180 °C and different times of 1 and 6 h, followed by heat treatment for 6 and 12 h at 300, 450 and 600 ºC. The crystalline phase and structural properties of the sample were characterized by X-ray diffraction method. Vibrational behavior of chemical bonds was verified by infrared and Raman spectroscopies where the observed bands and peaks confirmed the formation of MoO3. The scanning electron microscopy showed the microstructure formation of hexagonal (h-MoO3) and orthorhombic (α-MoO3) phases. Furthermore, diffuse reflectance spectroscopy measured the optical absorption properties and the energy gap values were estimated in the range from 2.74 to 3.33 eV from the Kubelka-Munk function. The oxides calcined at 600 ºC showed the best photocatalytic activity, degrading 50% of dye in 2 h of reaction.

RESUMOO objetivo foi avaliar o crescimento e a viabilidade econômica de alevinos de tilápia do Nilo (Oreochromis niloticus), alimentados com diferentes níveis de farinha da folha de mandioca desidratada na ração (FFMD). Foram utilizados 80 alevinos distribuídos em 20 recipientes de 18L, constando de sistema de recirculação de água, durante um período de 51 dias. Cem exemplares, alimentados três vezes ao dia até a saciedade, foram distribuídos aleatoriamente em um delineamento experimental inteiramente casualizado, constituindo-se de 4 tratamentos (0, 5, 10 e 15% de adição da FFMD na ração) e 5 repetições cada. Os peixes alimentados com 10% de FFMD apresentaram melhor homogeneidade no crescimento. Entretanto, os indivíduos alimentados com inclusão de 5% de FFMD apresentaram homogeneidade de crescimento similar aos alimentados com 10%. Além disso, os peixes alimentados com 5% de FFMD obtiveram melhor desempenho zootécnico e viabilidade econômica da ração. Dessa maneira, recomenda-se a utilização de 5% da farinha de folha de mandioca desidratada em rações para tilápia do Nilo.

ABSTRACTThe aim was to evaluate the growth and the economic viability of the Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) fed with different levels of dehydrated cassava leaf flour in the diet (FFMD). 80 fingerlings were distributed into 20 18L containers, consisting of a water recirculation system over a period of 51 days. 100 copies fed three times a day to satiation were randomly assigned in a completely randomized design, constituting 4 treatments (0%, 5%, 10% and 15% addition of FFMD in diet) with 5 repetitions each. The fishes fed with 10% FFMD had better homogeneity in growth. However, individuals fed with inclusion of 5% FFMD homogeneity grew similarly to those fed with 10% FFMD. In addition, the fish from the 5% had better growth performance and economic viability of the feed. Thus, it is recommended to use 5% of dehydrated cassava leaf meal in diets for Nile tilapia.

Citronella essential oil has more than eighty components, of which the most important ones are citronellal, geranial and limonene. They are present at high concentrations in the oil and are responsible for the repellent properties of the oil. The oil was extracted using supercritical carbon dioxide due to the high selectivity of the solvent. The operational conditions studied varied from 313.15 to 353.15 K for the temperature and the applied pressures were 6.2, 10.0, 15.0 and 180.0 MPa. Better values of efficiency of the extracted oil were obtained at higher pressure conditions. At constant temperature, the amount of extracted oil increased when the pressure increased, but the opposite occurred when the temperature increased at constant pressure. The composition of the essential oil was complex, although there were several main components in the oil and some waxes were presented in the extracted oils above 10.0 MPa. The results were modeled using a mathematical model in a predictive way, reproducing the extraction curves over the maximum time of the process.

A geração de radicais livres, resultado dos processos metabólicos necessários para a produção de energia, causam um grande número de doenças, o que aumenta o interesse pelos compostos antioxidantes presentes em frutos e vegetais e que são responsáveis pela captura destes radicais. Além disso, a aplicação de óleos e extratos de frutos no controle microbiológico justifica o crescimento dos estudos científicos dessas matérias-primas. Nesse contexto o presente trabalho analisou o óleo essencial de diferentes partes do fruto de uvaia (Eugenia pyriformis) em relação à atividade microbiológica, fenóis totais e antioxidantes. O óleo essencial apresentou rendimento maior na casca (1,23 %), seguido pela fração casca com polpa, a fração com menor rendimento foi à semente, sendo quantificados a partir do fruto refrigerado. Os resultados obtidos na microbiologia frente as cepas de Scherichia coli ATCC25922, Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 6538, Pseudomonas aeruginosas ATCC 27 853 e Enterococcus faecalis ATCC99212 foram de ação bacteriostática em todas as cepas testadas, exceto a bactéria P. aeruginosas. Intervalo de inibição superior a 24 h foi observado para o óleo essencial da casca frente a bactéria P. aeruginosas. A quantificação de fenóis totais não foi possível pois os valores médios encontrados foram inferiores ao LQ (5 μg/mL), por espectrofotometria a 760 nm e as atividade antioxidante mostraram-se não significativas nas concentrações analisadas, em todas as frações.

The generation of free radicals, result of the energy production metabolic processes, leads to a high number of illnesses. For that an increased interest is directed to antioxidants that can be found in fruits and vegetables and are responsible for the capture of these radicals. Moreover, application of fruits extracts and oils in the microbiological control justify the growth of the scientific studies of these raw materials. In this context the present work analyzed essential oils in different parts of uvaia fruit (Eugenia pyriformis) concerning microbiological activity, total phenols and antixidant properties. Frozen fruits were analysed and higher contents of essential oils were found in the rind (1.23%), followed for the fraction rind-pulp. The lower content was found in seeds. Bacteriostatic action was observed for Scherichia coli ATCC25922, Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 6538, Pseudomonas aeruginosas ATCC 27853 and Enterococcus faecalis ATCC99212. Low values for total phenol (<5 μg.mL-1) hindered analysis. No antioxidant activity could be observed.

Supercritical CO2 extraction of macadamia nut oil was carried out in a flow apparatus at the following operational conditions: pressures of 10, 15 and 18 MPa; and temperatures of 313 and 353K; a volumetric flow of 1.64 x 10-7 m³.s-1 was used for one hour in each experiment. The efficiency of the extraction process showed to be low. The behaviors of the extraction curves were very similar at all temperatures and the best efficiency value was obtained at 10 MPa. Chromatographic analysis demonstrated the ability of supercritical CO2 to remove some of the main components of the oil: myristic (C14:0), palmitic (C16:0), oleic (C18:1) and linoleic (C18:2) acids, and that higher pressures favoured the removal of lighter components. The extraction process was represented by a simple model based on Langmuir Isotherm, showing a good data fitting.

O presente trabalho teve por objetivo avaliar as alterações hidrológicas e hidroquímicas na coluna d'água da lagoa costeira de Iquiparí, ao longo de três meses, quando esta foi submetida a processo artificial de abertura de barra. Nas 28 horas que se seguiram à abertura da barra, o volume de água foi drasticamente reduzido. Os sedimentos de fundo, densamente colonizados por plantas aquáticas submersas que dominavam o metabolismo da lagoa costeira, foram em grande parte expostos ao ar, principalmente nas porções mais próximas ao mar. Observou-se, durante o período em que a barra esteve aberta, grande elevação da salinidade e da concentração de nutrientes dissolvidos e totais, e, em contraste, redução da biomassa fitoplanctônica. Estes fatos estão associados a: 1) mistura da água salobra remanescente com a marinha; 2) processos físicos de liberação de nutrientes do sedimento; e 3) morte das plantas submersas. Após o fechamento da barra, foi constatado intenso desenvolvimento da comunidade fitoplanctônica, que passou a dominar o metabolismo do ecossistema, especialmente nas porções mais próximas ao mar. Verificou-se que a abertura da barra resultou em substituição quase total das águas da lagoa costeira e alterou o tipo de comunidade predominante no metabolismo do sistema.

The aim of this paper was to verify hydrological and hydrochemical changes in the Iquiparí Lagoon water column, during three months, as related to an artificial sand bar opening. A drastic reduction in water volume occurred 28 hours after the sand bar opening, exposing the bottom sediment. This was densely colonized by submerged aquatic plants, which were dominant in the ecosystem metabolism, specially near the sand bar. An increase in salinity values, and dissolved and total nutrient concentrations, was observed during the sand bar opening period. In contrast, chlorophyll a concentration decreased. These changes were associated with: 1) mix of remained brackish and marine waters; 2) nutrient release from sediments by physical processes; and 3) submerged plant death. After the sand bar closure, lagoon metabolism was completely regulated by a dense phytoplankton community. We observed that the sand bar opening resulted in an extensile replacement of the lagoon's water and a change in the community mainly responsible for the ecosystem metabolism.
