RESUMO O potássio (K) influencia as variáveis que determinam a qualidade dos frutos e a concentração de fitonutriente para a saúde humana e, portanto, as preferencias do consumidor. O objetivo desse estudo foi avaliar o efeito de diversas concentrações de K na solução nutritiva (5, 7, 9 e 11 mM de K) sobre o rendimento e qualidade de frutos de melão Cantaloupe em casa de vegetação. O experimento foi realizado em vasos, em delineamento experimental completamente casualizado, com 15 repetições. Foram analisadas a variância, correlação, regressão e comparação múltipla de médias (Tukey p<0,05). Obtiveram-se valores maiores de produtividade, peso médio de frutos, diâmetro equatorial, espessura da polpa, firmeza da polpa, teor de sólidos solúveis totais, teor de compostos fenólicos e capacidade antioxidante dos frutos nas concentrações de 9 e 11 mM de K. Todas variáveis, com exceção de diâmetro polar dos frutos, tiveram seus valores aumentados, com concentrações crescentes de K, evidenciando tendência linear positiva e significativa, indicando que a dose ótima de K em melão é superior a 11 mM. Assim, sugere-se para pesquisas futuras, avaliar concentrações acima de 11 mM..

ABSTRACT Potassium (K) influences the variables that determine quality of fruit and the concentration of phytonutrients to human health and therefore consumer preferences. The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of different concentrations of K in the nutrient solution (5, 7, 9 and 11 mM of K) on yield and quality of Cantaloupe fruits under greenhouse conditions. The experiment was conducted in pots using a completely randomized design with 15 replications. Analysis of variance, correlation, regression and multiple comparisons among means (Tukey p<0.05) were performed. Results showed higher values of yield, average fruit weight, equatorial diameter, pulp thickness, fruit firmness, soluble solids content, phenolic content and antioxidant capacity of fruits at the concentrations of 9 and 11 mM of K. All variables, except equatorial diameter, increased their values as K concentrations increased, showing a lineal, positive and significant trend, which evidences that the optimal dose of K in muskmelon is higher than 11 mM, being suggested for future research, to evaluate concentrations above this value.

Abstract The green fertilizers (AV) are an alternative to improve the fertility and conservation of agricultural soils in semi-arid zones. For this reason, the potential of five legume species as AV in the highlands of San Luis Potosi, Mexico was evaluated. The study species were: 1) black dolichos beans (Lablab purpureos); 2) beans brown dolichos (Lablab purpureos); 3) red dolichos beans (Lablab purpureos); 4) yorimon bean (Vigna unguiculata); and 5) chickpea (Cicer arietinum). The trial was carried out under a randomized block design with three repetitions. In the stage of flowering of each species the evaluation was carried out. The variables that were measured were: biomass, carbon capture, carbon footprint, nitrogen in plant and C/N ratio. The results indicate that Dolichos red was the most outstanding in biomass production (6.5 t ha-1), carbon capture (2.97 t ha-1) and carbon footprint (-4.3 t ha-1). Cicer arietinum excelled in concentrating N in its tissues (2.03, 1.47 and 1.87% in aerial part, root and whole plant) and could contribute to the soil up to 83 kg ha-1 N. Cicer sp., Had the lowest C/N ratio with 24.12, which would have a faster mineralization than the other species. In conclusion, the five species have the potential to be used as AV in the study area and are an important alternative to improve agricultural soils and the environment.

Resumen Los abonos verdes (AV) son una alternativa para mejorar la fertilidad y conservación de suelos agrícolas en zonas semiáridas. Por tal motivo, se evaluó el potencial de cinco especies de leguminosas como AV en el altiplano de San Luis Potosí, México. Las especies de estudio fueron: 1) frijol dolichos negro (Lablab purpureos); 2) frijol dolichos café (Lablab purpureos); 3) frijol dolichos rojo (Lablab purpureos); 4) frijol yorimón (Vigna unguiculata); y 5) garbanzo (Cicer arietinum). El ensayo se realizó bajo un diseño de bloques al azar con tres repeticiones. En la etapa de floración de cada especie se realizó la evaluación. Las variables que se midieron fueron: biomasa, captura de carbono, huella de carbono, nitrógeno en planta y relación C/N. Los resultados indican que Dolichos rojo fue la más sobresaliente en producción de biomasa (6.5 t ha-1), captura de carbono (2.97 t ha-1) y huella de carbono (-4.3 t ha-1). Cicer arietinum sobresalió en concentrar N en sus tejidos (2.03, 1.47 y 1.87% en parte aérea, raíz y planta completa) y podría aportar al suelo hasta 83 kg ha-1 N. Cicer sp., tuvo la más baja relación C/N con 24.12, con lo que tendría una mineralización más rápida que las demás especies. Como conclusión, las cinco especies tienen potencial para usarse como AV en la zona de estudio y son una alternativa importante para mejorar los suelos agrícolas y el medio ambiente.

Related to the characterization of plant parasitic nematodes halófita Salicornia bigelovii (Torr.) In northwestern Mexico, studies are zero, which motivated this research to the isolation and characterization of nematodes associated with Salicornia. Two systematically sampled in ten locations in two areas (Puerto Peñasco and Bahía de Kino, Sonora), which develops naturally in the halophyte study was developed; samplings were made at intervals of two months for 11 months corresponding to the phenology of the plant. Sampling depth levels of 0-50 and 50-100 cm was considered to study the nematode population. The collected samples were processed to homogenize the sample and taking subsamples of 500 g; subsamples were processed by sieving and centrifugation; aliquots for fication and identification were collected. Were collected and identified eight genera of plant parasitic nematodes; including the most abundant were Tylenchus, Helicotylenchus, Merlinius and Criconematidos. Their populations varied in relation to the ecotype, soil type, soil depth and season.

Estudios relacionados con la caracterización de nemátodos fitoparásitos de la halófita Salicornia bigelovii (Torr.) en el noroeste de México, son nulos, lo que motivó esta investigación al aislamiento y caracterización de nemátodos asociados a Salicornia. Se desarrollaron dos muestreos sistemáticos en diez localidades de dos áreas (Puerto Peñasco y Bahía de Kino, Sonora), donde se desarrolla en forma natural la halófita en estudio; los muestreos se hicieron con una periodicidad de dos meses durante 11 meses que corresponde a la fenología de la planta. Se consideró una profundidad de muestreo en niveles de 0-50 y 50-100 cm para estudiar la población de nemátodos. Las muestras colectadas se procesaron al homogenizar la muestra y tomándose submuestras de 500 g; las submuestras fueron procesadas mediante un tamizado y centrifugación; se colectaron alícuotas para su cuantificación e identificación. Se colectaron e identificaron ocho géneros de nemátodos fitoparásitos; entre ellos los más abundantes fueron Tylenchus, Helicotylenchus, Merlinius y Criconematidos. Sus poblaciones variaron en relación con el ecotipo, tipo de terreno, profundidad del suelo y época del año.

Fertilizers and manures are the major sources of crop nutrients. Their composition of trace elements and transfer into soil by these means has been poorly studied in Mexico. Arsenic (As), cadmium (Cd), mercury (Hg) and lead (Pb) were determined by inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS) in nine nutrient sources used in organic and conventional agroecosystems; vermicompost, compost, Chilean nitrate, phosphate rock, urea, calcium nitrate, diammonium phosphate (DAP), triple superphosphate (TSP) and potassium sulphate. The results show that DAP, TSP, phosphate rock and vermicompost have the highest concentrations of As, Cd and Pb, while Hg was detected only at low concentrations in TSP. Urea, calcium nitrate and potassium sulphate obtained the lowest concentrations. However, vermicompost is the material incorporating most trace elements into the soil when taken as a source of 100 kg N ha-1, the estimated quantities were 17 139, 2 190 and 76 176 mg ha-1 of As, Cd and Pb, respectively. If used as a source of P2O5 or K2O, there will be higher trace elements transfer into the soil.

Los fertilizantes y abonos son las principales fuentes de nutrientes de los cultivos. La composición de elementos traza en ellos ha sido poco estudiada en México, así como su ingreso total a los suelos por esta vía.Arsénico (As), cadmio (Cd), mercurio (Hg) y plomo (Pb) fueron determinados por espectrofotometría de masas con plasma acoplado inductivamente (ICP-MS) en nueve fuentes nutrimentales utilizadas en agroecosistemas orgánicos y convencionales; lombricomposta, composta, nitrato chileno, roca fosfórica, urea, nitrato de calcio, fosfato diamónico (DAP), superfosfato triple (SPT) y sulfato de potasio. Los resultados muestran que DAP, SPT, roca fosfórica y lombricomposta poseen las más altas concentraciones de As, Cd y Pb, mientras que Hg sólo fue detectado en SPT a bajas concentraciones. La urea, nitrato de calcio y sulfato de potasio obtuvieron las concentraciones más bajas. Sin embargo, la lombricomposta es el material que más elementos traza incorpora al suelo cuando se toma como fuente de 100 kg de N ha-1, las cantidades estimadas fueron 17139, 2190 y 76176 mg ha-1 deAs, Cd y Pb, respectivamente. En caso de usarse como fuente de P2O5 ó K2O, el ingreso al suelo de elementos traza será aún más alto.
