Abstract It is presented the first taxonomic study of the tribe Coreopsideae (Asteraceae) in Northeastern Brazil. A total of seven genera and 16 species were recorded in the region, with Bidens being the richest genus (8 spp.). Bidens tenera and Cosmos bipinnatus were recorded for the first time to the region, and Heterosperma ovatifolium represents the first record to Brazil. Bidens, Chrysanthellum, and Dahlia are taxonomically problematic that is reflected by several misidentifications found in the herbaria collections. Coreopsis, Cosmos, and Dahlia species are cultivated as ornamental but are scarcely represented in the herbaria. This study provides a checklist, an identification key to all species, in addition to discussing the importance of studying alien species for a better understanding of the Brazilian flora. ABSTRACT Myrtaceae has ca. 6,000 species, distributed into 140 genera with Pantropical distribution. The family is one of the five most representative flowering plants in species richness in Brazilian restinga and is also of great importance for the maintenance of the ecological cycles of this vegetation. However, few studies focus on Myrtaceae in restinga, mainly in the State of Bahia, which has the country's largest coastal extension. This study aims to present the first taxonomic study of Myrtaceae from the restinga of the State of Bahia, Brazil. A total of 10 field trips were performed from September 2016 to April 2019, and the most relevant herbaria of Brazil were consulted. A total of eight genera and 85 species of Myrtaceae were identified in the Bahian restinga. Myrcia was the most representative genus with 42 species, followed by Eugenia (23 spp.), Psidium (seven spp.), Campomanesia (five spp.), Myrciaria (four spp.), Neomitranthes (two spp.), and Blepharocalyx and Calycolpus (a single species each). Two of them represented new species to science, and four presented the first records to the studied area. Abstract: Background and Aims: Bahia is one of the Brazilian states with the greatest diversity of orchids. Species restricted to microhabitats or forming small populations, being subject to local suppression, have been reported for restingas of the state. The north coast of Bahia has recently been exposed to intense anthropic pressures, including disordered occupation of land and predatory tourism. In order to encourage the adoption of regional conservation strategies, we carried out a survey of the orchid flora in the Parque Natural Municipal da Restinga de Praia do Forte (PNMR Praia do Forte), a fragment of restinga on the north coast of the state. Methods: Field work was conducted monthly from September 2016 to December 2017, and in July 2020 and August 2022, by employing the walking survey method. We consulted collections of the herbaria ALCB, HRB, HUEFS, and RB in person, as well as digital images of type specimens deposited in European herbaria and the Environmental Information Reference Center database. Phenological and distribution data of the species in the phytophysiognomies of PNMR Praia do Forte were mostly obtained in the field. Key results: Orchidaceae is represented by 14 genera and 16 species in the PNMR Praia do Forte, most of which are native to the Neotropics (14 spp., including eight endemic to Brazil), mainly terrestrial (six spp.), occurring exclusively in restinga forest formations (eight spp.). Epistephium williamsii, Gomesa barbata, Oeceoclades maculata, Pachygenium parvum, Polystachya concreta and Prescottia leptostachya (restricted to Bahia state) form small populations (<50 individuals). Conclusions: The orchid flora of the PNMR Praia do Forte, especially the aforementioned species, requires the attention from managers, in order to implement possible management and conservation actions and prevent them from being suppressed locally. We suggest greater surveillance actions in the park and environmental education actions among local residents and tourists.

Resumen: Antecedentes y Objetivos: Bahía es uno de los estados brasileños con mayor diversidad de orquídeas. Para restingas del estado se han reportado especies restringidas a microhábitats o que forman pequeñas poblaciones, estando sujetas a supresión local. La costa norte de Bahía ha estado expuesta recientemente a intensas presiones antrópicas, incluida la ocupación desordenada de la tierra y el turismo depredador. Con el fin de fomentar la adopción de estrategias de conservación regionales, llevamos a cabo un estudio de la flora de orquídeas en el Parque Natural Municipal da Restinga de Praia do Forte (PNMR Praia do Forte), un fragmento de restinga en la costa norte del estado. Métodos: El trabajo de campo se realizó mensualmente desde septiembre 2016 a diciembre 2017, así como en julio 2020 y agosto 2022, empleando el método de caminata libre. Consultamos personalmente las colecciones de los herbarios ALCB, HRB, HUEFS y RB, así como la base de datos del Centro de Referencia de Información Ambiental e imágenes digitales de especímenes tipo depositados en herbarios europeos. Los datos fenológicos y de distribución de las especies en las fitofisonomías del PNMR Praia do Forte se obtuvieron principalmente en el campo. Resultados clave: Orchidaceae está representada por 14 géneros y 16 especies en el PNMR Praia do Forte, en su mayoría nativas del Neotropico (14 spp., incluidas ocho endémicas de Brasil), principalmente terrestres (seis spp.), ocurriendo exclusivamente en formaciones forestales de restinga (ocho spp.). Epistephium williamsii, Gomesa barbata, Oeceoclades maculata, Pachygenium parvum, Polystachya concreta y Prescottia leptostachya (restringida al estado de Bahía) forman poblaciones pequeñas (<50 individuos). Conclusiones: La flora orquidológica del PNMR Praia do Forte, especialmente las especies antes mencionadas, requiere la atención de los gestores, para implementar posibles acciones de manejo y conservación y evitar su supresión local. Sugerimos mayores acciones de vigilancia en el parque y educación ambiental entre residentes locales y turistas.

Resumo Como resultado dos nossos estudos em Coreopsideae no Nordeste do Brasil, apresentamos o primeiro registro de Heterosperma (H. ovatifolium) para o País. O gênero atualmente é composto de 11 espécies com distribuição do sudoeste dos Estados Unidos até a América do Sul, incluindo a região do Caribe. Neste trabalho apresentamos uma descrição completa, imagens, e um mapa com a distribuição atualizada da espécie, além de uma chave de identificação atualizada para os gêneros de Coreopsideae para o Brasil.

Abstract We present the first record of Heterosperma (H. ovatifolium, Asteraceae) for Brazil as a result of the taxonomic study of tribe Coreopsideae for Northeastern Brazil. The genus currently comprises 11 species, occurring from southwestern United States to South America and the West Indies. We present a complete morphological description, a photo plate, and a distribution map with the updated distribution for H. ovatifolium. Additionally, we present an updated identification key for the genera of Coreopsideae for Brazil.

Resumo A Área de Proteção Ambiental das Lagoas e Dunas do Abaeté (APA Abaeté) constitui um fragmento urbano de restinga no município de Salvador, estado da Bahia, Brasil. A área sofre com o descarte irregular de resíduos sólidos, a retirada clandestina de areia das dunas, a supressão e fragmentação da cobertura vegetacional original e o crescimento urbano dos bairros circundantes. Um estudo florístico recente revelou novos registros de espécies de orquídeas para esta Unidade de Conservação, mas destacou que a flora orquidológica está fortemente ameaçada. Neste contexto, foi realizado um estudo taxonômico das orquídeas da APA Abaeté, com o objetivo de facilitar o reconhecimento das espécies em campo e apoiar o estabelecimento de ações de conservação locais mais eficazes para as orquídeas, que devem abranger a dispersão manual de sementes e a realocação de indivíduos. Orchidaceae é a sexta família mais representativa na APA Abaeté, com 15 gêneros e 19 espécies, incluindo Encyclia dichroma e Koellensteinia florida, espécies endêmicas da Mata Atlântica. As características morfológicas mais relevantes na identificação das espécies da área são: tipos de crescimento; volubilidade e espessamento do cauloma; forma e consistência das lâminas foliares; tipo e posição da inflorescência; cor e ressupinação das flores.

Abstract Área de Proteção Ambiental das Lagoas e Dunas do Abaeté (APA Abaeté) is an urban fragment of restinga in an environmentally protected area in the municipality of Salvador, Bahia, Brazil. The area is impacted by irregular disposal of solid waste, clandestine removal of sand from dunes, suppression and fragmentation of original vegetation cover and urban growth of neighborhoods. A recent floristic study revealed new records of orchid species for this conservation unit but highlighted strong threats to the orchid flora. In this context, a taxonomic study of Orchidaceae in APA Abaeté was undertaken with the aim of facilitating the recognition of species in the field and supporting the establishment of more effective local conservation actions for orchids, which should include the manual dispersion of seeds and the relocation of individuals. Orchidaceae is the sixth most represented family in APA Abaeté, with 15 genera and 19 species, including Encyclia dichroma and Koellensteinia florida, endemic species of the Atlantic Forest. The most relevant morphological characteristics for the identification of species in the area are: growth type; climbing habit; caulome thickness; shape and consistency of leaf blades; inflorescence type and position; and color and resupination of flowers.

ABSTRACT Herbaria represent irreplaceable repositories of biodiversity and are used to answer questions about conservation, ecology, systematics, and other sciences. In this sense, we characterize the infrastructure, human resources, and idiosyncrasies of Brazilian herbaria. To achieve this goal, curators were sent a structured and standardized questionnaire to gather information about herbaria. The Brazilian Herbaria Network listed 216 active herbaria in the year 2018, of which 139 answered the questionnaire. These herbaria hold 6,741,469 samples in their collections and more than 39,000 type samples. Most herbaria are in federal universities (40.28 %). Only 24 % of the curators considered that their herbarium is valued by their institutions and 52 % indicated inadequate storage areas. Only nine collections have smoke sensors. Our analysis showed that if an herbarium has an institutional policy the curator is 78 % more likely to consider its herbarium valued. Therefore, it is important for all herbaria to institute their policy. These numbers reflect the difficulty in maintaining herbaria, in many cases cared for only by its curator without institutional recognition and support. Despite recent losses in Brazilian natural history collections, herbaria are still threatened by a lack of basic infrastructure.

Resumo A tribo Eupatorieae apresenta ca. 2.200 espécies, agrupadas em 182 gêneros e 19 subtribos. No Brasil, a tribo destaca-se por apresentar o maior número de gêneros (86) e espécies (615) nas diversas fitofisionomias do país. O gênero Mikania, considerado um dos mais naturais e complexos da Tribo Eupatorieae, pertence à subtribo Mikaniinae e apresenta ca. 450 espécies com distribuição principalmente neotropical. No Brasil, o gênero está representado por 203 espécies, sendo 142 consideradas endêmicas. O presente trabalho teve como objetivo realizar o levantamento florístico e o estudo taxonômico das espécies do gênero Mikania (Asteraceae, Eupatorieae) na Bahia. Foram realizadas coletas em diversos municípios do estado, além de visitas a importantes herbários nacionais para o grupo (ALCB, CEPEC, HUEFS, HRB, RB, R, SPF, SP). Dos 53 nomes antes registrados para a Bahia, 14 foram excluídos e 7 novas ocorrências foram acrescentadas, totalizando 46 espécies. Apresentamos aqui uma chave de identificação, descrições de todas as espécies, além de comentários taxonômicos, biológicos e de distribuição geográfica.

Abstract The Eupatorieae tribe, one of the tribes belonging to the Alliance, presents ca. 2,200 species, grouped into 182 genera and 19 subtribes. In Brazil, the tribe stands out for having the highest number of genera (86) and species (615) in the various phytophysiognomies of the country. Mikania, considered one of the most natural and complex of the Tribe Eupatorieae, belongs to the subtribe Mikaniinae and presents ca. 450 species with mainly neotropical distribution. In Brazil, the genus is represented by 203 species, of which 142 are considered endemic. The present work had as objective to carry out the floristic survey and the taxonomic study of the species of Mikania (Asteraceae, Eupatorieae) in Bahia state. Field collections were performed in several municipalities of the state, besides to the visit to important national herbaria for the group (ALCB, CEPEC, HUEFS, HRB, RB, R, SP, SPF). Of the 53 names previously registered for Bahia, 14 were excluded and 7 new occurrences were added, totalizing 46 species. We present a key identification, descriptions of all species, as well as taxonomic, biological and geographic distribution comments.

Resumo Estudos acerca da composição florística ao longo da Cadeia do Espinhaço revelam a expressiva diversidade de Asteraceae, especialmente de Eupatorieae e Vernonieae, que são as tribos com o maior número de espécies. O objetivo deste estudo foi realizar o levantamento florístico e taxonômico das espécies pertencentes às tribos Vernonieae e Eupatorieae que ocorrem em Morro do Chapéu, Chapada Diamantina, Bahia. Foram realizadas seis viagens ao campo e visitadas as principais coleções dos herbários de referência para a Chapada Diamantina. A tribo Vernonieae está representada por 13 gêneros e 28 espécies, na qual Lepidaploa possui o maior número de espécies (6 spp.), seguido de Stilpnopappus e Vernonanthura, com quatro espécies cada. A tribo Eupatorieae apresenta 17 gêneros e 30 espécies, sendo Mikania e Acritopappus, com seis e cinco espécies respectivamente, os gêneros com maior riqueza, seguidos de Trichogonia (3 spp.). As espécies Acritopappus jacobaeus, Acritopappus santosii, Lapidia apicifolia, Scherya bahiensis, Stylotrichium edmundoi, Trichogonia tombadorensis e uma espécie nova pertencente ao gênero Stilpnopappus são endêmicas de Morro do Chapéu. São apresentadas chaves de identificação genérica e específica, descrições, comentários taxonômicos e materiais examinados para todas as espécies, além de fotos.

Abstract Studies dealing with the floristic composition of the Espinhaço Range corroborate the impressive diversity of Asteraceae, especially Eupatorieae and Vernonieae, which are the tribes with the largest number of species. The aim of this study was to carry out a floristic and taxonomic survey of the species belonging to the Vernonieae and Eupatorieae tribes which occur in Morro do Chapéu, Chapada Diamantina, Bahia. Six field trips were conducted and the main herbaria with the most important Chapada Diamantina collections were visited. Tribe Vernonieae is represented by 13 genera and 28 species. Lepidaploa (6 spp.) entails the highest number of species, followed by Stilpnopappus and Vernonanthura with four species each. For tribe Eupatorieae we found 17 genera and 30 species. Acritopappus and Mikania, with six and five species respectively, represent the richest genera, followed by Trichogonia (3 spp.). The species Acritopappus jacobaeus, Acritopappus santosii, Lapidia apicifolia, Scherya bahiensis, Stylotrichium edmundoi, Trichogonia tombadorensis and a new species belonging to the genus Stilpnopappus, are endemic to the Morro do Chapéu municipality. Keys to genera and species identification, descriptions, taxonomic comments and examined materials for all species are presented, as well as images.

Resumo Vanilla palmarum (Orchidaceae) é uma holoepífita obrigatória, amplamente distribuída na América do Sul, e apresenta uma emblemática especificidade com palmeiras. A interação epífita-forófitos foi examinada através da análise de espécimes disponíveis na base de dados do Centro de Referência em Informação Ambiental e em herbários brasileiros. Nós reconhecemos nove espécies hospedeiras de V. palmarum no Brasil: Acrocomia aculeata, Attalea phalerata, Attalea speciosa, Elaeis guineensis, Mauritia flexuosa, Syagrus cearensis, S. coronata, S. schizophylla e S. vagans. Os principais forófitos de V. palmarum são: A. speciosa (Cerrado), A. phalerata (Pantanal), M. flexuosa (Floresta Amazônica) e S. coronata (Caatinga). As futuras ações de manejo devem considerar a associação entre V. palmarum e espécies de palmeiras, visando assegurar a proteção das interações ecológicas.

Abstract Vanilla palmarum is an obligately epiphytic orchid distributed widely throughout South America with emblematic specificity for species of palms. This epiphyte-phorophyte association was examined through the analysis of specimens available via the database of Centro de Referência em Informação Ambiental and from Brazilian herbaria. We recognized nine species as hosts of V. palmarum in Brazil: Acrocomia aculeata, Attalea phalerata, Attalea speciosa, Elaeis guineensis, Mauritia flexuosa, Syagrus cearensis, S. coronata, S. schizophylla, and S. vagans. The most important phorophytes of V. palmarum were found to be A. speciosa (Cerrado), A. phalerata (Pantanal), M. flexuosa (Amazon Forest) and S. coronata (Caatinga). Future management actions must consider the association between V. palmarum and its phorophyte palm species in order to ensure the protection of this ecological interaction.

Resumo Myrtaceae está representada no Brasil por 23 gêneros e 974 espécies e é uma das famílias mais representativas na Cadeia do Espinhaço. A Serra Geral é um dos soerguimentos que compõem o Espinhaço Setentrional e representa uma lacuna florística na região. Desta forma o objetivo deste trabalho foi produzir o inventário florístico e o estudo taxonômico para a família Myrtaceae na Serra Geral de Licínio de Almeida, Bahia. Foram realizadas excursões ao campo entre 2012 e 2015 e os materiais foram depositados nos herbários HUEFS e ALCB. Foram reconhecidos oito gêneros e 43 espécies, sendo Psidium o gênero mais diverso (14 spp.), seguido de Eugenia (10 spp.), Myrcia (oito spp.), Myrciaria (cinco spp.) e Campomanesia (três spp.); Blepharocalyx, Calyptranthes e Plinia foram representados por uma espécie cada. Psidium rhombeum e Psidium ganevii são endêmicas da Bahia, enquanto que Calyptranthes clusiifolia é uma nova ocorrência para áreas serranas na Bahia. São apresentados uma chave de identificação específica, descrições e comentários, além de fotos e ilustrações diagnósticas.

Abstract Myrtaceae is represented by 23 genera and 974 species in Brazil, and it is one of the most representative families in the Espinhaço Range. The Serra Geral is one of the mountain ranges that make up Northern Espinhaço and represents a floristic gap in the region. Eight genera and 43 species of Myrtaceae were found, amongst which Psidium proved the most diverse genus (14 spp.), followed by Eugenia (10 spp.), Myrcia (8 spp.), Myrciaria (5 spp.) and Campomanesia (3 spp.). Blepharocalyx, Calyptranthes and Plinia are represented by a single species each. Psidium rhombeum and Psidium ganevii are endemic species to Bahia, while Calyptranthes clusiifolia is a new occurrence in the state. This study presents a specific identification key, descriptions and comments, as well as photos and diagnostic illustrations, for each species.

ABSTRACT Floristic inventories focussing on the Espinhaço Range have revealed an extensive diversity for Asteraceae and emphasize the high degree of endemism of its species. This study aims to explore the species-rich Asteraceae through a floristic survey, and by identifying endemic records for the municipality of Morro do Chapéu, Bahia. Samples were collected during six field trips in different phytophysiognomies and approximately 1,400 exsiccatae from the main herbaria collections were examined. Asteraceae in Morro do Chapéu is represented by 18 tribes, 72 genera and 119 species. Eupatorieae and Vernonieae are the most species rich tribes and currently comprise 30 and 28 species, respectively, representing 50 % of the local Asteraceae flora. Baccharis represents the richest genus with seven species, followed by Lepidaploa and Mikania with six species each. Species belonging to Eupatorieae, namely Acritopappus santosii, Acritopappus sp. nov., Lapidia apicifolia, Stylotrichium edmundoi, Scherya bahiensis, Trichogonia tombadorensis and, additionally, a new species of Vernonieae, Stilpnopappus sp. nov., are endemic to the municipality. We provide a checklist and identification key for the species, and report the occurrence of endemism and their importance for the biological conservation.

Resumo O presente estudo fornece o tratamento taxonômico das espécies de Microlicieae para o município de Mucugê, Chapada Diamantina, Bahia, Brasil. Foram catalogadas 27 espécies distribuídas nos gêneros Microlicia (24 espécies), Lavoisiera (L. harleyi e L. nervulosa) e Trembleya (T. parviflora). Com exceção de M. fasciculata, M. viminalis e T. parviflora, as demais espécies encontradas em Mucugê são endêmicas da Chapada Diamantina. Entre as espécies de Microlicia, quatro foram recentemente descritas e outras quatro ainda necessitam de estudos complementares para sua identificação. Anteras poliesporangiadas foram descritas pela primeira vez para 11 espécies de Microlicia. As espécies de Microlicieae ocupam áreas de campo rupestre em altitudes entre 900-1.500 m, em solos arenosos ou pedregosos, às vezes associadas a cursos d'água.

Abstract This study provides a taxonomic survey of Microlicieae tribe in the Mucugê municipality, Chapada Diamantina, Bahia, Brazil. We identified 27 species belonging to three genera: Lavoisiera (L. harleyi and L. nervulosa), Microlicia (24 species) and Trembleya parviflora. Except for Microlicia fasciculata, M. viminalis and Trembleya parviflora, the others species found in Mucugê are endemic to Chapada Diamantina, Bahia. Among the species of Microlicia, four were recently described, and four others still require further studies for its identification. Polysporangiate anthers were described for the first time for 11 species of Microlicia. The species of Microlicieae are found mainly in rocky field vegetation, between 900-1.500 m altitude, in sandy or rocky soils, sometimes associated to water streams.

Resumo Entre as áreas que são reconhecidas pela carência de inventários florísticos no estado da Bahia, destaca-se a região sudoeste, mais precisamente as áreas que compreendem o Espinhaço Setentrional. O objetivo deste estudo foi realizar o levantamento florístico e taxonômico de Rubiaceae da Serra Geral de Licínio de Almeida (SGLA), Bahia. Foram realizadas dez expedições de campo para coleta entre julho de 2012 e maio de 2015, abrangendo todas as fitofisionomias existentes na área. Os materiais coletados foram processados e depositados nos herbários ALCB e HUEFS. Materiais de referência foram também analisados em visita aos herbários ALCB, CEPEC, HRB, HUEFS, RB, SPF. Foram reconhecidas 43 espécies, distribuídas em 28 gêneros, sendo Declieuxia (5 spp.), Borreria (3 spp.), Cordiera (3 spp.) e Psychotria (3 spp.) os gêneros mais diversos e, seguindo os estudos florísticos prévios na Cadeia do Espinhaço, houve um grande número de gêneros (19) com apenas uma única espécie. Psyllocarpus asparagoides, Psyllocarpus laricoides, Stachyarrhena reflexa são endêmicas da Bahia e Minas Gerais; Declieuxia passerina e Galianthe peruviana são novas ocorrências para a Bahia, e duas espécies (Randia sp. e Staelia sp.) são possivelmente inéditas para a ciência. São apresentados chaves de identificação genérica e específica, descrições, comentários taxonômicos para as espécies, além de fotos e ilustrações.

Abstract One of the areas in Bahia that is known by the lack of floristic inventories is the southwest region, more precisely the area that comprises the septentrional part of the Espinhaço Range. The aim of this study was to carry out a floristic and taxonomic survey of Rubiaceae of the Serra Geral of Licínio de Almeida (SGLA), Bahia. Ten field trips were conducted between July 2012 and May 2015, covering all existing vegetation types in the area. The collected material was processed and deposited at HUEFS and ALCB herbaria. Reference materials were also analyzed in visits to CEPEC, HRB, HUEFS, RB and SPF. A number of 43 species distributed in 28 genera were recognized, with Declieuxia (5 spp.), Borreria (3 spp.), Cordiera (3 spp.) and Psychotria (3 spp.) as the most diverse genera. Following previous floristic studies in the Espinhaço Range, there is alarge number of genera (19) represented by a single species. Psyllocarpus asparagoides, Psyllocarpus laricoides and Stachyarrhena reflexa are endemic to Minas Gerais and Bahia; Declieuxia passerina and Galianthe peruviana are new records for Bahia, and two species are considered new for science (Randia sp. and Staelia sp.). Keys to genera and species identification, descriptions, taxonomic and biologic comments for all species are presented, as well as images and illustrations.

Resumo Euphorbiaceae possui grande representatividade no semiárido nordestino, sendo uma das famílias consideradas típicas da Caatinga. O objetivo deste estudo foi realizar o levantamento florístico de Euphorbiaceae na Serra Geral de Licínio de Almeida, incluindo chave de identificação, descrições, comentários e ilustrações. A área localiza-se na região central da Cadeia do Espinhaço em uma faixa oeste do município de Licínio de Almeida, sudoeste da Bahia. Foram registradas 51 espécies distribuídas em 14 gêneros: Croton (23 spp.), Euphorbia (6 spp.), Microstachys (4 spp.), Manihot (3 spp.), Acalypha, Cnidoscolus, Dalechampia, Sebastiania e Stillingia (2 spp. cada), Alchornea, Astraea, Gymnanthes, Maprounea e Tragia (1 sp. cada). Três espécies são endêmicas da Bahia (Croton imbricatus, Microstachys uleana e Sebastiania catingae). Quatro são novas ocorrências para o estado (Acalypha multicaulis, Euphorbia attastoma, E. setosa e Stillingia trapezoidea).

Abstract Euphorbiaceae has a large representation in the semi-arid region of Brazil, and is considered one of the families that characterize Caatinga. The aim of this study was to conduct a floristic survey of the family Euphorbiaceae to Serra Geral of Licínio de Almeida including identification key, descriptions, comments and illustrations. The area is located in Espinhaço Range and occupies a long area west of the municipality of Licínio de Almeida. A number of 51 species distributed in 14 genera were collected: Croton (23 spp.), Euphorbia (6 spp.), Microstachys (4 spp.), Manihot (3 spp.), Acalypha, Cnidoscolus, Dalechampia, Sebastiania e Stillingia (2 spp. each), Alchornea, Astraea, Gymnanthes, Maprounea and Tragia (1 sp. each). Three espécies are endemic to Bahia (Croton imbricatus, Microstachys uleana, Sebastiania catingae), four are new records to the State (Acalypha multicaulis, Euphorbia attastoma, E. setosa, and Stillingia trapezoidea).

RESUMO Myrtaceae é uma família pantropical com cerca de 5500 espécies e 132 gêneros e que se destacada pela taxonomia complexa (caracteres crípticos) e difícil. No Brasil, Myrtaceae está representada por 23 gêneros e 974 espécies e é uma das famílias mais representativas na Cadeia do Espinhaço. O objetivo deste trabalho foi realizar o levantamento florístico de Myrtaceae no município de Jacobina, Chapada Diamantina, Bahia. Foram realizadas cinco expedições de coleta entre junho/2011 e abril/2012, analisado os materiais dos herbários no estado, consulta a bibliografias especializadas e especialistas da família. Foram encontrados sete gêneros e 32 espécies de Myrtaceae, sendo queMyrcia DC. (14 spp.), Eugenia L. (nove spp.) e Psidium L. (quatro spp.) foram os gêneros mais representativos, correspondendo a 87% do total de espécies. Myrcia blanchetiana (O.Berg) Mattos é endêmica para a Bahia, duas espécies (Eugenia rostrata O.Berg, Psidium brownianum DC.) são novas ocorrências para Jacobina e uma nova espécie de Myrcia foi reconhecida. São apresentadas chaves de identificações genéricas e específicas, além de discussões acerca da morfologia e distribuição geográfica dos táxons.

ABSTRACT Myrtaceae is a pantropical family with around 5500 species and 132 genera and is highlighted by its complex (cryptic characters) and difficult taxonomy. In Brazil, Myrtaceae is represented by 23 genera and 974 species and is one of the most representative in the Espinhaço Range. The main goal of this work was the floristic survey of Myrtaceae in Jacobina, Chapada Diamantina, Bahia. Five expeditions were conducted between June/2011 and April/2012; herbaria materials were examined in the State; and specialized references and Myrtaceae experts were consulted. Seven genera and 32 species of Myrtaceae were found andMyrcia DC. (14 spp.), Eugenia L. (nove spp.), and Psidium L. (quatro spp.) were the most representative, corresponding to 87% of total species. Myrcia blanchetiana (O. Berg) and Mattos is endemic to Bahia, two species (Eugenia rostrata O. Berg and Psidium brownianum DC.) are new occurrence to Jacobina and a new species ofMyrcia has been recognized. Generic and specific keys are presented, as well as discussion about the morphology and geographical distribution of the taxa.
