Temperature is a natural phenomenon that may modify the structure of chemical compounds and hence their properties. We aimed to develop a simple portable system based on the Peltier principle for spectral characterization of compounds with temperature-dependent structure. The device was constructed and adapted to three pieces of equipment: X-ray diffractometer, vibrational spectrophotometer, and electronic spectrophotometer. The device was evaluated by using commercial thermochromatic inks, whose color depends on temperature. The X-ray diffraction results for the ink whose color changed at a transition temperature of 31 oC showed that the peak at 2θ = 21.6o decreased probably due to alterations in the structures of the components underlying the ink color and solvent. The absorption spectra showed reduced absorption, typical of change in color, a property that is inversely proportional to temperature. The device working range varied from 15 to 75 oC, and it was constructed from parts that are easily available in the national market at an affordable price. The device can be adapted to different equipment with distinct configurations regarding the sample compartment.

Abstract Aim: The present study aimed to investigate the indicators of burnout, to determine whether playing position affects the perception of syndrome dimensions, and to identify burnout prevalence in professional football players. Methods: The participants were 100 professional football players (mean age 24.3 ± 4.6 years and meantime as a professional athlete of 9.2 ± 4.5 years) who were divided into three groups: 27 forwards, 34 midfielders, and 39 defenders. The Athlete Burnout Questionnaire (ABQ) and a sociodemographic questionnaire were applied. Results: The results show that a) the majority of athletes had low burnout indicators, b) there was no difference in the perception of burnout dimensions by playing position, and c) the prevalence of athletes with burnout, whether mild, moderate, or severe, was 13%. Conclusion: The variable of playing position was not a determinant of perception of burnout dimensions among the forwards, midfielders, and defenders. Nonetheless, the prevalence of burnout deserves attention, as the negative effects of this syndrome may exert impacts on health, well-being, and sports performance, making athletes more likely to abandon their sport.

RESUMO O estudo objetivou investigar a prevalência e os efeitos da Síndrome Pré-Menstrual (SPM) nos fatores psicológicos de universitárias praticantes e não praticantes de treinamento resistido. A amostra inicial consistiu em 81 participantes, e a prevalência da SPM foi de 64,2%. Quarenta mulheres diagnosticadas com SPM foram divididas em dois grupos: praticantes (GP) e não-praticantes (GNP) de treinamento resistido. A comparação intergrupos apresentou diferenças significativas (com maiores escores do GNP) referentes aos itens: dificuldade de concentração, falta de energia, e sentindo-se sob pressão, tendo maior interferência dos sintomas em seus relacionamentos familiares. Conclui-se que mulheres praticantes de treinamento resistido apresentam indicadores reduzidos de alguns sintomas psicológicos da SPM.

ABSTRACT The study aimed to investigate the prevalence and effects of premenstrual syndrome (PMS) on the psychological factors of university students who do and do not participate in resistance training. The initial sample consisted of 81 participants, and the prevalence of PMS was 64.2%. Forty women diagnosed with PMS were divided into two groups: women who participated in (GP) and did not participate in (GNP) resistance training. The intergroup comparison showed significant differences (with higher scores in the GNP) in the items: difficulty concentrating, lack of energy, and feeling under pressure, and they reported a greater influence of the symptoms on their family relationships. It is concluded that women who participate in resistance training have reduced indicators of some psychological symptoms of PMS.

RESUMEN El objetivo fue investigar la prevalencia y los efectos del síndrome premenstrual (SPM) sobre los factores psicológicos de las universitarias que practican y no practican el entrenamiento de resistencia. La muestra inicial consistió en 81 mujeres, y la prevalencia del SPM fue del 64,2%. Cuarenta mujeres diagnosticadas con SPM se dividieron en dos grupos: practicantes (GP) y no practicantes (GNP) de entrenamiento de resistencia. La comparación intergrupal mostró diferencias significativas (con puntajes de GNP más altos) con respecto a: dificultad para concentrarse, falta de energía y sentirse bajo presión, con una mayor interferencia de síntomas en sus relaciones familiares. Las mujeres que practican el entrenamiento de resistencia han reducido los indicadores de algunos síntomas psicológicos del SPM.

RESUMO O objetivo desta pesquisa foi analisar o efeito do nível de atividade física na percepção dos estados de humor em jovens estudantes das séries finais do Ensino Médio. A amostra foi constituída por um total de 216 estudantes, de ambos os sexos, com uma idade média de 16,89 ±1,48 anos. Esta pesquisa de caráter transversal se caracterizou como descritiva e de aspecto quantitativo. Para a coleta de dados foram utilizados a Escala de Humor de Brunel (BRUMS) e o Questionário de Atividades Físicas Habituais. A verificação da normalidade foi realizada através do teste de Kolmogorov-Smirnov. Posteriormente aplicou-se a estatística inferencial para dados não paramétricos, com os testes de Kruskal-Wallis e Post-Hoc de Dunn. O coeficiente de correlação de Spearman foi utilizado para verificar a relação entre o nível de atividade física e os estados de humor. A significância adotada foi de p<0,05. A partir dos resultados verificamos que a percepção dos estados de humor relatadas por jovens escolares possuem diferenças significativas quando consideramos o nível de atividade física dessa população. Jovens classificados como inativos fisicamente relataram um menor nível de vigor bem como uma maior predisposição aos aspectos negativos de humor quando comparado aos jovens ativos fisicamente. Nesse caso, a atividade física pode contribuir para uma melhor percepção da saúde psicológica.

ABSTRACT The objective of this research was to analyze the effect of level of physical activity on perception of mood states among young students in the final grades of high school. The sample consisted of a total of 216 students, of both sexes, with an average age of 16.89±1.48 years. This cross-sectional research was characterized as descriptive and of a quantitative nature. For data collection, the Brunel Mood Scale (BRUMS) and the Habitual Physical Activity Questionnaire were used. Normality was verified through the Kolmogorov-Smirnov test. Subsequently, inferential statistics for non-parametric data were applied, with the Kruskal-Wallis and Dunn’s Post-Hoc tests. Spearman’s correlation coefficient was used to check the relationship between level of physical activity and mood states. Significance was set at p<0.05. From the results, we found that the perception of mood states reported by young students had significant differences when we consider this population’s level of physical activity. Young individuals classified as physically inactive reported a lower level of vigor, as well as a greater predisposition to negative mood aspects compared to physically active ones. In this case, physical activity can contribute to a better perception of psychological health.

The purpose of this study was to compare the perception of the burnout syndrome related to the variables gender, sport, and age in young swimmers and volleyball players. A total of 194 athletes of both genders, aged 14 to 17 years, completed the Athlete Burnout Questionnaire (ABQ). The data analysis consisted of descriptive statistics and a comparison of the studied variables using the Kruskal-Wallis and Mann-Whitney tests. The results showed that the athletes did not have high burnout syndrome indicators. We found no effect of the gender variable on the perception of burnout dimensions. Swimmers had greater physical and emotional exhaustion than their volleyball peers. Conversely, volleyball players perceived more sport devaluation than their swimming peers.

RESUMEN Objetivo: Identificar retrospectivamente, en personas sometidas a artroplastia total del hombro por fracturas del húmero proximal, el tipo de artroplastia utilizado, la puntuación funcional del hombro, las complicaciones registradas, la influencia del tiempo transcurrido desde la fractura y la colocación del implante en el resultado funcional final. Método: estudio retrospectivo entre 2014 y 2017. Se identificaron las siguientes variables: edad, sexo, tiempo entre fractura y cirugía, tipo de artroplastia, cementación, modularidad, rehabilitación, complicaciones, tiempo de seguimiento y funcionalidad. Fueron recogidos datos de los instrumentos Constant Shoulder Score y American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons Standardized Shoulder Assessment Form. Resultados: Muestra compuesta por 12 mujeres y 3 hombres con una edad media de 78 años y un tiempo medio entre la fractura y la cirugía de 29,4 días. En términos de funcionalidad, se observó que las personas con próstesis inversa presentaran mejores resultados en comparación con las sometidas a hemiartroplastia (53,2 vs. 41,1 y 68,5 vs. 44,6). El seguimiento se realizó durante 29,4 meses. Conclusión: La prótesis inversa parece ser la mejor opción de tratamiento y que permite una mejor funcionalidad. La modularidad protésica es importante.

Método: Estudo retrospetivo entre os anos 2014 e 2017. Foram identificadas as seguintes variáveis: idade, sexo, tempo entre a fratura e a cirurgia, tipo de artroplastia, cimentação, modularidade, reabilitação, complicações, tempo de seguimento e funcionalidade. Foram recolhidos dados dos instrumentos Constant Shoulder Score e American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons Standardized Shoulder Assessment Form. Resultados: Amostra constituída por 12 mulheres e 3 homens com idade média de 78 anos e um tempo médio entre a fratura e a cirurgia de 29,4 dias. A nível de funcionalidade observou-se que as pessoas com próteses inversas apresentaram melhores resultados em comparação com as submetidas a hemiartroplastia (53,2 vs. 41,1 e 68,5 vs. 44,6). O seguimento foi feito durante foi de 29,4 meses. Conclusão: A escolha de prótese inversa parece ser a melhor opção de tratamento e que permite melhor funcionalidade. A modularidade protésica é importante.

ABSTRACT Objective: To retrospectively identify, in people submitted to total shoulder arthroplasty for proximal humeral fractures, the type of arthroplasty used, the functional shoulder scores, the recorded complications, the influence of the elapsed time from the fracture and the placement of the implant in the final functional outcome. Method: Retrospective study between 2014 and 2017. The following variables were identified: age, sex, time between fracture and surgery, type of arthroplasty, cementation, modularity, rehabilitation, complications, follow-up time and functionality. Data from the scales Constant Shoulder Score and American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons Standardized Shoulder Assessment Form were obtained. Results: Sample comprised of 12 women and 3 men with mean age of 78 years-old and a mean time between fracture and surgery of 29.4 days. In terms of functionality, it was observed that people with inverse prosthesis presented better results compared to the ones submitted to hemiarthroplasty (53.2 vs. 41.1 and 68.5 vs. 44.6). The follow-up duration was 29.4 months. Conclusion: The reverse prosthesis seems to be the best treatment option and allows better functionality. Prosthetic modularity is important.

A sinovite vilonodular pigmentada, englobada no grupo dos tumores tenossinoviais de células gigantes, é uma doença rara, benigna e com incidência de 1.8 casos por milhão de habitantes/ano. Ocorre por proliferação da membrana sinovial das articulações, bursas e das bainhas tendinosas, com pigmentação por depósitos de hemossideria. Afecta sobretudo indivíduos entre os 30 e 40 anos. Geralmente é monoarticular, afectando o joelho em cerca de 80% dos casos e o ombro em apenas 2.4% dos casos. A sua clínica é inespecífica, o ao RX esta entidade geralmente passa despercebida. A Ressonância Magnética, não é específica para o seu diagnóstico, mas é útil para diferenciá-la de outras patologias e estratificar a extensão da doença. O diagnóstico definitivo é histológico. A sinovectomia é o tratamento indicado. É fundamental saber o subtipo da doença para a escolha o método cirúrgico: aberto ou artroscópico. Apresentamos um caso de um tumor tenossinovial de células gigantes do ombro, localizado, tratado com exérese artroscópia. O tratamento foi eficaz, sem recidiva até à data.

Pigmented villonodular synovitis, which belongs to the group of giant cell tenosynovial tumors, is a rare benign disease, with an incidence of 1.8 cases per million inhabitants per year. It occurs by proliferation of the synovial membrane of the joints, bursae and tendinous sheaths, with pigmentation by haemosideria deposits. It mainly affects individuals between the ages of 30 and 40. Affects the knee in about 80% of the cases and the shoulder in only 2.4% of the cases. Its clinical manifestations are nonspecific and on XRay this entity usually goes unnoticed. Magnetic Resonance Imaging is not specific for diagnosis but is useful for differentiating it from other pathologies and stratifying the extent of the disease. Definitive diagnosis is histological. Synovectomy is the indicated treatment. Knowing the subtype of the disease is crucial for choosing the surgical method: open or arthroscopic. We present a case of a localized giant cell tenosynovial tumor of the shoulder treated with excision by arthroscopy. The treatment was effective, with no recurrence to date.

Objetivou-se por meio deste estudo avaliar as características estruturais, produtivas e o valor nutritivo do capim-Tifton 85 adubado com duas doses de nitrogênio em quatro idades de rebrota. Foi utilizado delineamento em blocos casualizados seguindo esquema fatorial 4 x 2, com 4 idades de rebrota (28, 35, 42 e 49 dias) e duas doses de nitrogênio (100 e 300 kg ha-1) com seis repetições, totalizando 48 unidades experimentais de 25 m² (5x5m) cada. O critério de blocagem foi à variação na área experimental. A produção de matéria seca incrementou linearmente, em média 56.4%, à medida que avançou a idade de rebrota de 28 para 49 dias (P<0,01). Entre as doses de N, houve aumento de 17.2% na produção de matéria seca quando adubado com 300 kg ha-1 de nitrogênio. A altura das plantas (P<0,01), assim como o número de folhas vivas (P<0,01), número de folhas expandidas (P<0,01) e o comprimento final da folha (P<0,01) aumentaram linearmente com o avanço da idade corte. A adubação do capim Tifton 85 com 100 kg ha-1 de N, manejado a cada 35 dias melhora a produção de matéria seca, características estruturais e valor nutricional da forragem para corte e/ou pastejo.

The objective of this study was to evaluate the structural, productive and nutritional value of Tifton 85 grass fertilized with two nitrogen doses at four regrowth ages. The experimental design was a randomized block in a factorial 4 x 2, with four regrowth ages (28, 35, 42 and 49 days) and two levels of nitrogen (100 and 300 kg ha-1) in six replicates, totaling 48 experimental units, of 25 m² (5x5m) each. The blocking criterion was the variation in the experimental area. Dry matter production increased linearly, on average 56.4%, as the regrowth age increased from 28 to 49 days (P<0.01). Among the N rates, there was a 17.2% increase in dry matter yield when fertilized with 300 kg / ha of nitrogen. The height of the plants (P <0.01), as well as the number of live leaves (P <0.01), number of expanded leaves (P <0.01) and the final leaf length (P <0.01) increased linearly with the advancement of cut age. Fertilization of Tifton 85 grass with 100 kg ha-1 of N, managed every 35 days improves the dry matter production, structural characteristics and nutritional value of forage for cutting and / or grazing.

RESUMO Objetivo: A síndrome de esmagamento é caracterizada por lesões musculares traumáticas com graves repercussões clínicas sistêmicas. A reação inflamatória sistêmica, caracterizada agudamente por infiltração de neutrófilos nos pulmões, tem sido estudada como parte do espectro da síndrome de esmagamento. A pesquisa experimental pode demonstrar opções de tratamento para a síndrome de esmagamento. Os autores estudaram a hipótese de que solução salina hipertônica (NaCl 7,5%) pudesse minimizar os efeitos locais e sistêmicos da síndrome de esmagamento em um modelo de compressão muscular e choque hemorrágico. Métodos: Coelhos foram submetidos a um novo modelo de compressão muscular associado ao choque hemorrágico. A compressão foi feita por uma faixa de Esmarch aplicada por uma hora em todo membro inferior direito. O choque hemorrágico foi induzido durante uma hora por dissecção e cateterização da artéria carótida. O choque foi tratado com reposição de sangue ou solução salina hipertônica. Foram feitas análises bioquímicas do plasma, quantificação do edema muscular e infiltração de células inflamatórias nos pulmões. Resultados: Os animais tratados com solução hipertônica apresentaram a mesma resposta hemodinâmica observada naqueles tratados com sangue, menor quantidade de água nos músculos comprimidos e menor infiltração de células inflamatórias nos pulmões. O grupo tratado com sangue apresentou hipocalcemia, característica da síndrome de esmagamento. Conclusões: O modelo proposto mostrou-se efetivo para o estudo da síndrome de esmagamento associada ao choque hemorrágico. O tratamento com solução hipertônica apresentou benefícios quando comparado com a reposição volêmica com sangue.

ABSTRACT Objective: Crush syndrome is characterized by traumatic muscular injuries with severe systemic clinical repercussions. The systemic inflammatory reaction characterized acutely by infiltration of neutrophils in the lungs has been studied as part of the spectrum of crush syndrome. Experimental research may demonstrate alternative treatments for crush syndrome. The authors studied the hypothesis that hypertonic saline solution (7.5% NaCl) could minimize the local and systemic effects in a model of muscular compression and hemorrhagic shock. Methods: Rabbits were submitted to a new model of muscle compression associated with hemorrhagic shock. Compression was applied through an Esmarch bandage, used for 1 h on the entire right lower limb. Hemorrhagic shock was induced for 1 h by dissection and catheterization of the carotid artery. Blood replacement or hypertonic saline solution was used to treat the shock. Biochemical analysis of plasma, quantification of muscular edema, and infiltration of inflammatory cells in the lungs were carried out. Results: Animals treated with hypertonic solution presented the same hemodynamic response as the blood treated patients, less water in the compressed muscles and less infiltration of inflammatory cells in the lungs. The blood group presented hypocalcemia, a facet of crush syndrome. Conclusions: The proposed model was effective for the study of crush syndrome associated with hemorrhagic shock. The treatment with hypertonic solution showed benefits when compared with blood volume replacement.

RESUMO Introdução: Este estudo envolveu uma análise do impacto da fadiga mental sobre a recuperação da frequência cardíaca (RFC), medidas subjetivas de fadiga e desempenho de corrida intermitente em jogadores de handebol. Objetivo: Este estudo visou (1) examinar os efeitos de um estado induzido de fadiga mental no desempenho aeróbico de jogadores de handebol, medido pelo teste Yo-Yo IR1 e (2) explorar possíveis alterações na regulação da frequência cardíaca através da análise da RFC. Métodos: Doze jogadores de handebol (idade: 17,50 ± 3,63 anos, 5 ± 2,2 anos de prática) realizaram um teste Yo-Yo IR1 em duas ocasiões, com pelo menos 72 horas de intervalo. O teste Yo-Yo IR1 foi precedido por tratamento de 30 minutos que consistiu no teste Stroop Color-Word para induzir estado de fadiga mental. Os participantes na condição de controle assistiram a um vídeo emocionalmente neutro. Resultados: Foram observadas taxas mais elevadas de fadiga mental e esforço mental após o teste Stroop para o grupo experimental. Não foram observadas diferenças na motivação entre as condições. Além disso, a indução de fadiga mental prejudicou o desempenho de corrida e levou a maior PSE durante o teste Yo-Yo IR1. Não obstante, não foram observadas alterações na RFC nem nas concentrações de lactato sanguíneo entre as condições. Conclusão: Em conjunto, esses resultados sugerem que a fadiga mental afeta o desempenho de corrida intermitente, sem alterar os valores de RFC. Nível de Evidência III; Estudo de caso-controle.

ABSTRACT Introduction: This study involved an analysis of the impact of mental fatigue on heart rate recovery (HRR), subjective measures of fatigue and intermittent running performance in handball players. Objective: This study was aimed at (1) examining the effects of an induced state of mental fatigue on the aerobic performance of handball players, as measured by the Yo-Yo IR1 test, and (2) exploring possible changes in heart rate regulation through HRR analysis. Methods: Twelve handball players (age: 17.50 ± 3.63 years; 5 ± 2.2 years of practice) undertook a Yo-Yo IR1 test on two occasions, separated by an interval of at least 72 hours. The Yo-Yo IR1 test was preceded by a 30-min treatment, consisting of the Stroop Color-Word Test, to induce mental fatigue. Participants in the control condition watched an emotionally neutral video. Results: Higher ratings of mental fatigue and mental effort following the Stroop Test were observed for the experimental group. No differences in motivation were observed between conditions. Moreover, the induction of mental fatigue impaired running performance and led to a higher RPE during the Yo-Yo IR1 test. Notwithstanding, no changes in HRR or blood lactate levels were observed across conditions. Conclusion: Altogether, these results suggest that mental fatigue impairs intermittent running performance, without affecting HRR values. Level of Evidence III; Case-Control study.

RESUMEN Introducción: En el presente estudio se analizó el impacto de la fatiga mental en la recuperación de la frecuencia cardíaca (RFC), las medidas subjetivas de fatiga y el rendimiento intermitente en atletas de handball. Objetivo: los objetivos de este estudio fueron (1) examinar los efectos de un estado inducido de fatiga mental en el rendimiento aeróbico de atletas de handball, medida por el Yo-Yo IR1, y (2) explorar las posibles alteraciones en la regulación de la frecuencia cardíaca a través del análisis RFC. Métodos: Doce atletas (edad: 17,50 ± 3,63 años, 5 ± 2,2 años de práctica) realizaron un test Yo-Yo IR1 en dos ocasiones, separados por un intervalo de al menos 72 horas. El test Yo-Yo IR1 fue precedido por un tratamiento de 30 minutos, consistente en el Stroop Color-Word Test, para inducir un estado de fatiga mental. Los participantes en la condición de control asistieron un video emocionalmente neutro. Resultados: Se observaron altas percepciones de fatiga y esfuerzo mental después del test de Stroop para el grupo experimental. No se observaron diferencias de motivación entre las condiciones. Además, la inducción de fatiga mental perjudicó el desempeño de carrera y llevó a un mayor PSE durante el test Yo-Yo IR1. No obstante, no se observaron alteraciones en la RFC y en las concentraciones de lactato sanguíneo entre las condiciones. Conclusión: En conjunto, estos resultados sugieren que la fatiga mental afecta el rendimiento intermitente de la carrera, sin alterar los valores de FCR. Introdução: A altura patelar tem influência na cinética do joelho, sendo o seu posicionamento após artroplastia total do joelho (ATJ) determinante da função e longevidade do implante. A patela baixa após ATJ e´ um factor de mau prognóstico, responsável por uma considerável percentagem de revisões. O sacrifício do ligamento cruzado posterior (LCP) pode levar a um maior rebaixamento da patela após ATJ. Objectivo: Avaliar diferenças na alteração da altura patelar após ATJ, relacionadas com a preservação ou sacrifício do LCP. Material e Métodos: Foram avaliados retrospectivamente 229 pacientes submetidos a ATJ. A altura patelar foi avaliada nas radiografias pré e pós operatórias do joelho, utilizando o ângulo platô-patela modificado. A análise estatística foi realizada com o software IBM SPSS statistics. Resultados: A variação média da altura patelar foi -3.6º. No grupo de preservação do LCP esta foi -3.5° e no do sacrifício -3.9° (p=0.55). Discussão: Foi observada uma tendência à diminuição da altura patelar após a ATJ em ambos os grupos. No sacrifício do LCP a diminuição da altura patelar tende a ser maior, todavia, a diferença entre os grupos não foi estatisticamente significativa. Conclusão: Não se verificaram diferenças estatisticamente significativas dependentes da preservação ou sacrifício do LCP.

Introduction: The patellar height may be important in determining function after total knee arthroplasty. Patella baja after a total Knee arthroplasty is an indicator of poor prognosis, responsible for a considerable percentage of revisions. Total knee arthroplasties with sacrifice of the posterior cruciate ligament may eventually lead to a further lowering of the patella. Objective: To evaluate differences in alteration of patellar height after total knee arthroplasties with and without preservation of the posterior cruciate ligament. Method: A retrospective analysis was made of pre- and post-operative X-rays of 229 patients submitted to total knee arthroplasties. The authors used the modified plateau-patella angle method. Statistical analysis was performed using IBM SPSS software. Results: The mean variation of patellar height was -3.6 . In the group with preservation of posterior cruciate ligament was -3.5, and in group without preservation of the posterior cruciate ligament was -3.9 (p = 0.55) Discussion: A tendency towards decreased patellar height was seen in both groups. Although that decrease was been more evident in the group in which the posterior cruciate ligament was sacrifice, the difference wasn’t statistically significant. Conclusions: There were no statistically significant differences depending on the preservation or sacrifice of the posterior cruciate ligament.

RESUMO. Objetivou-se com este trabalho avaliar as características agronômicas e o valor nutricional das silagens de genótipos de milheto. O plantio foi realizado em blocos casualizados, com cinco repetições por genótipo. A produção de matéria verde para os genótipos ADR 500 e CMS 01 foram superiores e semelhantes entre si, com 40,16 e 41,36 t ha (p > 0,05). Não houve diferença significativa para a produção de matéria seca, e a média foi de 9,93 t ha (p > 0,05). As silagens mostraram-se semelhantes (p > 0,05) em relação ao pH, Aw e N-NH3/NT, apresentando valores de 3,92; 0,97 e 7,64%, respectivamente. Não foram encontradas diferenças significativas (p > 0,05) em relação à composição bromatológica das silagens dos diferentes genótipos, sendo observados médios de 30,74% de matéria seca; 10,21% para proteína bruta; 58,69% para fibra em detergente neutro e (p > 0,05). A média da digestibilidade da matéria seca foi de 59,90%. Com base no valor nutricional e na digestibilidade das silagens de milheto, os cinco genótipos apresentam-se adequados à produção de silagem com potencial para o norte de Minas Gerais

ABSTRACT. The objective of this study was to assess agronomic characteristics and nutritional values of silages of millet genotypes. Planting was done in randomized blocks, with five replicates per genotype. Green matter yield for genotypes ADR 500 and CMS 01 was higher and similar to each other, with 40.16 and 41.36 t ha (p > 0.05). There was no significant difference for dry matter yield, with the mean being 9.93 t ha (p > 0.05). The silages were similar (p > 0.05) as to pH, Aw and N-NH3/TN, presenting values of 3.92, 0.97 and 7.64%, respectively. There were no significant differences (p > 0.05) concerning the bromatological composition of the silages of the different genotypes, with a mean of 30.74% of dry matter, 10.21% for crude protein and 58.69% for neutral detergent fiber (p > 0.05). The dry matter digestibility mean stood at 59.90%. Based on the nutritional values and digestibility of the millet silages, the five genotypes are suitable for silage production, with potential for the North of Minas Gerais.

RESUMO. Objetivou-se avaliar a produção, o valor nutritivo e a degradação ruminal potencial do feno de capim-Tifton 85 (Cynodon spp.) colhido em quatro idades de rebrota (28, 35, 42 e 49 dias) e adubado com duas doses de nitrogênio (N; 100 e 300 kg N ha-1). O delineamento foi o em blocos ao acaso, arranjado em esquema fatorial 4 x 2, com seis repetições. A área experimental foi o critério de blocagem. A adubação nitrogenada incrementou (p < 0,01) a produção de matéria seca e a produção de matéria seca digestível do feno e também os teores de lignina (p = 0,01) e proteína bruta (p = 0,01). Os teores de fibra em detergente neutro corrigida para cinzas e proteína (p = 0,01), fibra em detergente ácido (p = 0,01) e celulose (p = 0,02) ajustaram-se ao modelo quadrático de regressão em função das idades de rebrota. Para degradabilidade ruminal potencial do feno foi observado efeito quadrático (p = 0,01), com valor máximo de 73,1% aos 37 dias de rebrota. O feno de capim-Tifton 85 adubado com 300 kg ha-1 de N e colhido até os 37 dias de rebrota resulta em maior produção de matéria seca de feno, maiores teores de proteína bruta, melhor degradabilidade ruminal potencial da matéria seca.

ABSTRACT. The objective of this study was to evaluate the yield, nutritional value and potential ruminal degradation of Tifton 85 hay (Cynodon spp.) harvested at four regrowth ages (28, 35, 42 and 49 days) and fertilized with two nitrogen doses (N; 100 and 300 kg N ha-1). The experimental design was a randomized block design, arranged in a 4 x 2 factorial scheme, with six replications each. Nitrogen fertilization increased (p < 0.05) dry matter yield and digestible dry matter production of hay and also lignin and crude protein contents. Nitrogen fertilization increased (p < 0.01) the dry matter yield and the digestible dry matter production of hay, as well as lignin (p = 0.01) and crude protein (p = 0.01). The neutral detergent fiber corrected for ash and protein (p = 0.01), acid detergent fiber (p = 0.01) and cellulose (p = 0.02) adjusted to the quadratic function regression model of the regrowth ages. For potential rumen degradability hay, it was observed quadratic effect (p = 0.01) with maximum value of 73.1% at 37 days of regrowth. Tifton 85 hay fertilized with 300 kg ha -1 of N and harvested up to 37 days of regrowth results in higher hay dry matter yield, higher crude protein content, and better dry matter rumen degradability.

RESUMO. Objetivou-se selecionar genótipos de sorgo para produção de silagem. O estudo foi conduzido no campo experimental da Embrapa Milho e Sorgo. O plantio foi realizado em blocos casualizados, com três repetições e teste Scott-Knott em nível de 5% de probabilidade. O material foi ensilado em silos laboratoriais, abertos com 56 dias para realização das análises fermentativa e composição bromatológica. Somente a proteína bruta não apresentou diferença significativa (p > 0,05), com média geral de 8,88%. As demais variáveis apresentaram diferenças significativas (p < 0,05):pH (3,34 a 3,94); Aw (0,93 a 0,98); N-NH3/NT (1,61 a 6,56 %); produção de matéria verde (12,05 a 34,14 t ha-¹); produção de matéria seca (6,19 a 11,42 t ha-¹); matéria seca (26,89 a 49,95 %); cinzas (4,08 a 6,88 %); fibra em detergente neutro corrigido para cinzas e proteínas (47,67 a 65,79 %); fibra em detergente ácido (16,62 a 35,89%); hemicelulose:celulose (1,07 a 2,71 %); lignina (2,03 a 6,52 %), produção de matéria seca digestível (3,70 a 7,41 t ha-¹) e digestibilidade da matéria seca (56,36 a 72,67%). Com base na produção de matéria seca digestível, os genótipos: macho 201191, e os híbridos 2012F47484, 2012F47515 e 2012F47525 se sobressaíram em relação aos demais uma vez que apresenta boa produtividade, adequado valor nutricional, com baixos teores de matéria seca e FDN aliado com altos valores de digestibilidade e bom padrão fermentativo das silagens.

ABSTRACT. The objective of this study was to select sorghum genotypes for silage production. The study was carried out at Embrapa Maize & Sorghum’s experimental field. Planting was performed in randomized blocks, with three replicates and the Scott-Knott test at a 5% probability level. The material was ensilaged in laboratory silos opened after 56 days for analysis concerning fermentation and bromatological composition. Only crude protein showed no significant difference (p > 0.05), with an overall mean of 8.88%. The other variables presented significant differences (p < 0.05): pH (3.34 to 3.94); Aw (0.93 to 0.98); N-NH 3/TN (1.61 to 6.56%); green matter yield (12.05 to 34.14 t ha-1); dry matter yield (6.19 to 11.42 t ha-1); dry matter (26.89 to 49.95%); ashes (4.08 to 6.88%); neutral detergent fiber corrected for ash and protein (47.67 to 65.79%); acid detergent fiber (16.62 to 35.89%); hemicellulose:cellulose (1.07 to 2.71%); lignin (2.03 to 6.52%), digestible dry matter yield (3.70 to 7.41 t ha-1) and dry matter digestibility (56.36 to 72.67%). Based on digestible dry matter yield, the genotypes: male 201191 and hybrids 2012F47484, 2012F47515 and 2012F47525 stood out in relation to the others for showing good yielding, adequate nutritional value, with low dry matter and NDF levels coupled with high digestibility values and good fermentation patterns of the silages.

RESUMO. Este trabalho foi realizado para avaliar as características nutricionais de feno de 19 genótipos de sorgo com capim-sudão. O delineamento experimental utilizado foi em blocos casualizados composto por 19 tratamentos com três repetições. As características bromatológicas dos respectivos fenos foram analisadas após 52 dias de semeadura e 45 e 49 dias de rebrota. Os dados foram interpretados pela análise de variância e, quando o teste de F foi significativo, as médias dos tratamentos foram comparadas pelo teste de Scott e Knott em nível de 5%. Os genótipos 1013026 e 1014020 apresentaram teores semelhantes de matéria seca. Para a variável extrato etéreo os maiores valores oscilaram de 2,20 a 2,66%. Valores superiores de minerais foram evidenciados nos híbridos 1013026 e 1011005. Quanto à proteína bruta, os maiores teores foram reportados pelos híbridos 1013021 e 1013020 (14,59 e 15,47 % de PB). Ao avaliar os valores de fibra em detergente neutro, os menores teores variaram de 56,05 a 57,07% para os híbridos 1013016 e 1011009. A fibra em detergente ácido variou de 32,70 a 35,78%. Os valores de digestibilidade da matéria seca foram superiores a 50%. Todos os híbridos apresentaram feno de qualidade, no entanto o híbrido 1014019 apresentou melhor valor nutritivo

ABSTRACT. This study evaluated the nutritional characteristics of hay of nineteen hybrids between sorghum and Sudan grass. The experimental design was a randomized block with nineteen treatments and three replications. The chemical characteristics of the respective hays were analyzed 52 days after sowing and 45 and 49 regrowth days. Data were analyzed by analysis of variance, and when the F test was significant, the treatment means were compared by the Scott and Knott test at 5%. Genotypes 1013026 and 1014020 showed similar dry matter content. As for ether extract content, the highest values ranged from 2.20 to 2.66%. Higher values of minerals were observed in hybrids 1013026 and 1011005. In relation to crude protein, higher content values were reported for hybrids 1013021 and 1013020 (14.59 and 15.47% CP). When evaluating the neutral detergent fiber content, lower values varied between 56.05 and 57.07% for hybrids 1013016 and 1011009. Considering the content of acid detergent fiber, values ranged from 32.70 to 35.78%. Values of dry matter digestibility were higher than 50%. All hybrids provide quality hay, however the hybrid 1014019 showed the best nutritional value.
