RESUMO O fogo é um fator importante na perturbação e perda de florestas secas tropicais globais. Os incêndios florestais exercem um papel ecológico relevante, pois afetam a biodiversidade local, as propriedades do solo e o suprimento de água. O bioma Caatinga apresenta um alto nível de degradação de atividades antrópicas e naturais, sendo extremamente afetado por incêndios originados predominantemente por atividades humanas. O sensoriamento remoto orbital, por apresentar características espaciais, espectrais e temporais específicas, é uma alternativa tecnológica imprescindível no monitoramento de áreas afetadas pelo fogo na superfície terrestre. Este trabalho teve como objetivo analisar, no âmbito espacial, espectral e temporal, o comportamento de um incêndio em ambiente de Caatinga a partir de Imagens Landsat-8, Índice de Vegetação Realçado e Análise por Componentes Principais. A quantificação de características da vegetação derivada do índice espectral fornece uma melhor avaliação da condição física da superfície terrestre sob efeitos do fogo. Técnicas de sensoriamento remoto e estatística multivariada foram utilizadas para avaliar comportamento espectral da vegetação nativa exposta a eventos de incêndio do bioma Caatinga. Os resultados do Teste de Normalidade Kolmogorov-Smirnov apresentaram um nível de significância de 5%. A integração dos métodos estatísticos de Regressão Linear Simples e Análise por Componentes Principais possibilitaram diagnósticos importantes nas estimativas e/ou relacionamentos entre as variáveis aleatórias. A técnica multivariada permitiu avaliar 94% da variação de dados. Os mapas resultantes da metodologia testada representam um aprimoramento importante no mapeamento da distribuição da vegetação. Este estudo gera indicativos para futuras pesquisas científicas vinculadas ao gerenciamento do espaço relacionado à vulnerabilidade e recuperação de paisagens de vegetação do clima semiárido sob situações de fogo geradas por incêndios.

ABSTRACT Fires generate negative environmental and socioeconomic impacts that directly and indirectly influence the Earth’s regional and global climate changes. Forest fires and fires play a relevant ecological role as they affect the local biodiversity, soil properties and water supply. The Caatinga biome has a high level of degradation of human and natural activities, being extremely affected by fires that burn predominantly due to human activities. Remote orbital sensing, as it presents specific spatial, spectral and temporal characteristics, is an essential technological alternative in monitoring areas affected by fire on the Earth’s surface. This work aimed to analyze, in a spatial, spectral and temporal scope, the behavior of a fire in a Caatinga environment from the multivariate statistical analysis of Landsat-8 Images data, Enhanced Vegetation Index and Analysis by the Major Components. The quantification of characteristics of vegetation derived from the spectral index provides a better assessment of the physical condition of the earth’s surface under the effects of fire. Remote sensing techniques and multivariate statistics were used to assess the spectral behavior of wildfires in the Caatinga biome. The results of the Kolmogorov-Smirnov Normality Test showed a significance level of 5%. The integration of the statistical methods of Simple Linear Regression and Analysis by the Principal Components enabled important diagnoses in the estimates and/or relationships between the random variables. The multivariate technique allowed 94% of the data variation to be assessed. The maps resulting from the tested methodology represent an important improvement in mapping the distribution of vegetation. This study generates indications for future scientific research related to the management of space concerning to vulnerability and recovery of vegetation landscapes from the semi-arid climate under fire situations generated by burnings.

Resumo A segurança de uma barragem é resultante de uma série de fatores, dentre os quais podem ser citados aspectos estruturais, geotécnicos, hidráulicos, operacionais e ambientais. No Brasil, a Lei nº 12.334 de setembro de 2010 estabelece a Política Nacional de Segurança de Barragens. A instrumentação compõe um conjunto de dispositivos instalados nas barragens, que são utilizados para avaliar o seu comportamento estrutural a partir de parâmetros de desempenho da estrutura, tais como deslocamentos, vazões, tensões, inclinações e outros. Procedimentos de auscultação de barragens, historicamente, tem sido realizado desde a década de 50, conforme a literatura. Desde então, houve avanços significativos na instrumentação e nos métodos de auscultação de barragens. Este trabalho tem como objetivo apresentar uma abordagem teórica sobre aspectos técnico-científicos de barragens no Brasil, fundamentada numa revisão de literatura no estado da arte, envolvendo auscultação de barragens no contexto de normas, conceitos, instrumentação, segurança, procedimentos e métodos de monitoramento.

Abstract The safety of a dam is the result of a series of factors, including structural, geotechnical, hydraulic, operational and environmental aspects. In Brazil, Law No. 12.334 of September 2010 establishes the National Dam Safety Policy, which requires safety reports and monitoring inspections for existing dams. The inspection comprises a set of devices installed on the dam, which are used to assess the structural behavior based on performance parameters of the structure, such as displacements, flows, stresses, slopes and others. Dam auscultation procedures, historically, have been performed since the 1950s. Since then, there have been significant advances in instrumentation and dam auscultation methods. This work presents a theoretical approach on technical and scientific aspects of dams in Brazil, based on a state-of-the-art literature review, involving auscultation of dams in the context of design codes, concepts, instrumentation, safety, procedures and monitoring methods.

Nos últimos anos tem se observado uma representativa evolução da tecnologia LIDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) na aquisição automática do MDT (Modelo Digital do Terreno) em áreas urbanas e rurais. Os métodos existentes na literatura remetem a regiões para casos específicos no hemisfério norte, onde as condições de vegetação e uso do solo são diferentes das encontradas no Brasil. O presente trabalho tem como objetivo investigar e discutir métodos de classificação de dados LIDAR utilizados para a geração automática do MDT, usando os conceitos de morfologia matemática no processo de filtragem e classificação dos pontos. O processo metodológico compreendeu: definição e caracterização da área de aplicação dos testes de verificação, bem como as condições de aquisição dos dados utilizados; descrição do método denominado Filtro Morfológico; e, por fim, o método para a análise e comportamento da metodologia proposta. A qualidade dos produtos gerados nos experimentos realizados mostrou-se satisfatória, considerando os aspectos numéricos relacionados com o erro médio e a variância das áreas testadas. Os resultados mostraram que a geração do MDT em áreas urbanas apresentou maior consistência em conseqüência, principalmente, da presença de áreas livres ao nível do terreno, favorecendo a viabilidade do uso do método de classificação.

Lately a representative evolution of the LIDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) technology to automatic acquisition DTM (Digital Terrain Model) has been observed for urban and rural areas. Present methods in the literature refer to regions for specific cases in the northern hemisphere, where the conditions of vegetation and land use are different from those found in Brazil. This paper aims at investigating and discussing methods for classifying LIDAR data used for the automatic generation of DTM, using mathematical morphology in the process of filtering and classification of points. The methodological process involved the following steps: definition and characterization of the area of application of the verification tests, the conditions used for data acquisition, description of the method Morphological filter, and finally, the framework for analyzing the results. The quality considering the numerical aspects like average error and sample variance of the generated models for the study areas was satisfactory. The results showed that the generation of digital terrain model in urban areas had greater consistency, mainly due to the presence of open spaces at ground level, this fact feasibility of using the classification method.

Embora seja considerada útil para a identificação de objetos mais elevados, a presença de sombras pode ser um elemento prejudicial na extração de informações quando esconde objetos de menor altura. Neste trabalho é descrito o desenvolvimento conceitual e exemplos de aplicação de um método para a segmentação de sombras em imagens de satélite e fotografias aéreas baseado na análise da matriz de co-ocorrência. A matriz de co-ocorrência traduz a relação entre o pixel e sua vizinhança, o que permite identificar áreas uniformes e escuras, que correspondem a sombras. Com esta premissa, foi proposto um método que analisa a diagonal principal da matriz de co-ocorrência e identifica nela os agrupamentos associados a sombras. Para delimitar as sombras, é usada uma função contextual derivada da melhor reta perpendicular à diagonal principal da matriz de co-ocorrência que separa áreas escuras e uniformes. Testes com imagens aéreas e de satélite são apresentados para ilustrar o método. O método proposto é do tipo adaptativo e pode ser usado tanto em imagens de 8 bits como também estendido à maiores resoluções radiométricas, além disso seu funcionamento não é afetado pela eventual contribuição atmosférica, que afeta principalmente as bandas do visível.

Although shadows are considered useful for the identification of objects that rise up from the ground, they may made the extraction of information difficult when they hide lower objects. In this paper we introduce the conceptual development and show examples of the application of a method for the segmentation of shadows in satellite and aerial imagery that is based on the analysis of the co-occurrence matrix. The co-occurrence matrix shows the relationship between a pixel and its neighborhood, which allows to identify dark and uniform areas that correspond to shadows. Taking this in mind, a method is proposed to analyse the main diagonal of the co-occurrence matrix and to identify the cluster that is related to shadows. The mentioned segmentation enables to obtain the threshold along the main diagonal. A contextual function can be derived from the best perpendicular line to the main diagonal of the co-occurrence matrix that crossed the diagonal at the threshold point. Tests with aerial and satellite images are presented to illustrate the method. It is shown that the method is adaptive. It can be used in 8 bits images as well as extended to higher radiometric resolutions and it is not affected by the atmospheric contribution.
