ABSTRACT: The National School Feeding Program (PNAE) is the oldest and most extensive food and nutrition program in Brazil. However, there are important barriers that hinder the application of this law. The present article developed a conceptual model that described and analyzed the barriers to this requirement. RESUMO: O Programa Nacional de Alimentação Escolar (PNAE) é considerado o programa de alimentação e nutrição mais antigo e de maior abrangência do Brasil. Abstract Radicular cysts result from an inflammatory process associated with teeth with pulp necrosis. The initial therapy is the endodontic treatment. However, if it fails, other treatment alternatives should be considered. Among them are some types of endodontic surgery that should be indicated according to the diagnosis of the tooth involved. Another technique for treating cysts is decompression, which can be used for the reduction or complete regression of the lesion and the preservation of adjacent noble structures. This case report, with a follow-up of two years, aims to present the therapy of a radicular cyst in close association with the mandibular canal through endodontic surgery and decompression of the lesion, as an alternative method to preserve the innervation of the inferior alveolar nerve.

Resumo O cisto radicular é um cisto de origem odontogénica causado por um processo inflamatório associado a dentes com diagnóstico de necrose pulpar. São os cistos mais comuns dos maxilares. A terapia inicial de eleição é o tratamento endodôntico do dente acometido. Contudo, em casos de insucesso, outras alternativas de tratamento devem ser consideradas. Entre as alternativas existem alguns tipos de cirurgia paraendodôntica que devem ser indicados de acordo com o diagnóstico do dente envolvido. Outra técnica para tratamento dos cistos é a descompressão, que pode ser utilizada para redução ou regressão completa da lesão e para conservação de estruturas nobres adjacentes. Esse relato de caso, com acompanhamento de dois anos, tem como objetivo apresentar a terapia de um cisto radicular em íntimo contato com o canal mandibular, por meio da cirurgia paraendodôntica e descompressão da lesão como método alternativo para preservação da inervação do nervo alveolar inferior.

ABSTRACT This study aimed to compare the development of two eucalyptus clones under the influence or not of the early animal entry into a silvopastoral system in Capixaba, Acre. The region's climate is AWI, with annual rainfall between 1,680 and 2,580 mm and a dry season between May and September. The design was entirely randomized in a 2 x 2 factorial scheme with six replications and four treatments: a) Clone I144 with cattle access at nine months (TR1); b) Clone I144 without cattle access at nine months (TR2); c) Clone VM01 with cattle access at nine months (TR3); and d) Clone VM01 without cattle access at nine months (TR4). Data was collected from the 16 central trees of each plot at 9, 12, 19, 24, 32, and 36 months of age. Total height (TH) and diameter at breast height (DBH) were measured, and the individual volume with bark from each stem per clone was obtained by rigorous cubing. Growth curves were generated as a function of age for HT, DBH, and Volume per ha using the Logistic model. Clone VM01 displayed higher survival, diameter, and volume per ha than clone I144, with higher values for these variables for the treatment without early animal entry. Clone VM01 demonstrated estimates of maximum production volume per hectare 83.8% higher than clone I144. RESUMO O objetivo deste estudo foi comparar o desenvolvimento de dois clones de eucalipto sob a influência ou não da entrada precoce dos animais em sistema silvipastoril em Capixaba, Acre. O clima da região é AWI, com precipitação anual entre 1.680 a 2.580 mm, com estação seca entre maio e setembro. O delineamento foi inteiramente casualizado em esquema fatorial 2 x 2 com seis repetições e quatro tratamentos: a) Clone I144 com acesso do gado aos 9 meses (TR1); b) Clone I144 sem acesso do gado aos 9 meses (TR2); c) Clone VM01 com acesso do gado aos 9 meses (TR3); e d) Clone VM01 sem acesso do gado aos 9 meses (TR4). Abstract In low and middle-income countries such as Brazil, most maternal deaths are related to hypertensive complications. Preeclampsia is the leading cause of maternal mortality and morbidity. Significant proportion is associated with the following factors: lack of identification of high-risk women, lack of adequate prevention, difficulty in maintaining a high-risk prenatal follow-up, delayed diagnosis, insecurity and low use of magnesium sulphate, delayed pregnancy interruption and lack of postpartum follow-up of these high-risk cases. Abstract Objective To evaluate the impact of the race (Black versus non-Black) on maternal and perinatal outcomes of pregnant women with COVID-19 in Brazil. Methods This is a subanalysis of REBRACO, a Brazilian multicenter cohort study designed to evaluate the impact of COVID-19 on pregnant women. From February2020 until February 2021, 15 maternity hospitals in Brazil collected data on women with respiratory symptoms. We selected all women with a positive test for COVID-19; then, we divided them into two groups: Black and non-Black women. Finally, we compared, between groups, sociodemographic, maternal, and perinatal outcomes. We obtained the frequency of events in each group and compared them using X2 test; p-values < 0.05 were considered significant. We also estimated the odds ratio (OR) and confidence intervals (CI). Results 729 symptomatic women were included in the study; of those, 285 were positive for COVID-19, 120 (42.1%) were Black, and 165 (57.9%) were non-Black. Black women had worse education (p = 0.037). The timing of access to the health system was similar between both groups, with 26.3% being included with seven or more days of symptoms. Severe acute respiratory syndrome (OR 2.22 CI 1.17–4.21), intensive care unit admission (OR 2.00 CI 1.07–3.74), and desaturation at admission (OR 3.72 CI 1.41–9.84) were more likely to occur among Black women. Resumo Objetivo Avaliar o impacto da raça (negra versus não negra) nos desfechos maternos e perinatais de gestantes com COVID-19 no Brasil. Métodos Esta é uma subanálise da REBRACO, um estudo de coorte multicêntrico brasileiro desenhado para avaliar o impacto da COVID-19 em mulheres grávidas. De fevereiro de 2020 a fevereiro de 2021, 15 maternidades do Brasil coletaram dados de mulheres com sintomas respiratórios. Selecionamos todas as mulheres com teste positivo para COVID-19; em seguida, as dividimos em dois grupos: mulheres negras e não negras. Finalmente, comparamos, entre os grupos, os resultados sociodemográficos, maternos e perinatais. Obtivemos a frequência dos eventos em cada grupo e comparamos usando o teste X2; Valores de p <0,05 foram considerados significativos. ABSTRACT Objective: This two-centre cross-sectional study aimed to evaluate whether xerostomia occurrence is associated with oral health-related quality of life (OHRQoL) in patients with end-stage renal disease (ESRD) after the adjustment for potential confounders. Methods: Oral examinations were performed by calibrated examiners for untreated dental caries, periodontitis and tooth loss in 180 adults with ESRD. The presence of xerostomia was determined using the global question “How often does your mouth feel dry?”. OHRQoL was evaluated by the simplified version of the Oral Health Impact Profile (OHIP14) questionnaire. Multivariate zero-inflated negative binomial regression analysis was used to calculate the incidence rate ratios (IRR) for the nonzero scores and odds ratios (OR) of having no impact in OHIP14 scores according to the presence of exposure. Results: In the adjusted model, xerostomia (IRR = 1.57; 95% CI: 1.12 to 2.20) was associated with poorer OHRQoL. The adjusted domain-specific analysis revealed that xerostomia occurrence significantly impacted the psychological disability and social disability, and the chance of having no impact was lower for the psychological discomfort domain (OR = 0.84; 95% CI: 0.12 to 0.98). Abstract The objective of this work was to investigate the use of the You Only Look Once (YOLO) convolutional neural network model for the detection and efficient counting of Eucalyptus sp. shoots in stands through aerial photographs captured by unmanned aerial vehicles. For this, the significance of data organization was evaluated during the system-training process. Two datasets were used to train the convolutional neural network: one consisting of images with a single shoot and another with at least ten shoots per image. The results showed high precision and recall rates for both datasets. The convolutional neural network trained with images containing ten shoots per image showed a superior performance when applied to data not used during training. Therefore, the YOLO convolutional neural network can be used for the detection and counting of shoots of Eucalyptus sp. clones from aerial images captured by unmanned aerial vehicles in forest stands. Resumo O objetivo deste trabalho foi investigar o uso do modelo de rede neural convolucional You Only Look Once (YOLO) para detecção e contagem eficiente de brotos de Eucalyptus sp. em plantações, por meio de fotografias aéreas capturadas por veículos aéreos não tripulados. Para isso, avaliou-se a importância da organização dos dados durante o processo de treinamento do sistema. Foram utilizados dois conjunto de dados para treinar a rede neural convolucional: um consistindo em imagens com um único broto e o outro com pelo menos dez brotos por imagem. Os resultados mostraram altas taxas de precisão e recall para ambos os conjuntos de dados. A rede neural convolucional treinada com imagens contendo dez brotos por imagem apresentou desempenho superior quando aplicada a dados não utilizados durante o treinamento. Portanto, a rede neural convolucional YOLO pode ser usada para detecção e contagem de brotos de clones de Eucalyptus sp. a partir de imagens aéreas capturadas por veículos aéreos não tripulados em áreas florestais. Abstract Introduction: Eating behaviors acquired in childhood tend to be perpetuated in adulthood, so adherence to a healthy diet from an early age becomes important to prevent the onset of the occurrence of diet-related chronic non-communicable diseases. The aim of this study is to evaluate the food consumption of students in the third cycle of basic education and their parents and its relationship with weight status. Methodology: This is a cross-sectional study. Data from 358 students and 318 parents living on Terceira Island (Azores, Portugal) were included in the study. A questionnaire was developed to collect sociodemographic, dietary habits and anthropometric data, this was applied between May and June 2015. A food frequency questionnaire was used, and weight and height were used to calculate the body mass index. A descriptive analysis of the variables under study was performed and the Mann-Whitney's test was used to compare the means between groups. Results: A high prevalence of pre-obesity/obesity (students: 33.0%; parents: 62.4%) was found. Vegetables are consumed most often by parents while fruits, fast food and sweets are consumed more frequently by students. Normal weight students reported a higher frequency of soy, olive oil, sunflower oil, and sweets compared with overweight students, on the other hand overweight parents reported a higher frequency of consumption of milk, pork, fatty fish, potatoes, vegetables, citrus fruits, and sunflower oil, compared with normal weight parents. Conclusions: Given the high prevalence of pre-obesity/obesity found, as well as the high frequency of consumption of unhealthy foods, it is recommended that health promotion measures be taken in these schools.

Metodología: Este es un estudio transversal. Se incluyeron datos de 358 alumnos y 318 padres residentes en la Isla Terceira (Azores, Portugal). Se elaboró un cuestionario para recoger datos sociodemográficos, de hábitos alimentarios y antropométricos, fue aplicado directamente entre mayo y junio de 2015. Se utilizó un cuestionario de frecuencia de alimentos y se utilizó el peso y la talla para calcular el índice de masa corporal. Se realizó un análisis descriptivo de las variables en estudio y se utilizó la prueba de Mann-Whitney para comparar las medias entre grupos. Resultados: Se encontró una alta prevalencia de pre-obesidad/obesidad (estudiantes: 33,0%; padres: 62,4%). Las verduras son consumidas con mayor frecuencia por los padres, mientras que las frutas, la comida rápida y los dulces son consumidos con mayor frecuencia por los estudiantes. Los estudiantes normopeso reportaron una mayor frecuencia de consumo de soya, aceite de oliva, aceite y dulces en comparación con los estudiantes con sobrepeso, mientras que los padres con sobrepeso reportaron una mayor frecuencia de consumo de leche, cerdo, pescado graso, papas, verduras, cítricos y aceite, en comparación con los padres de peso normal. Conclusiones: Dada la alta prevalencia de pre-obesidad/obesidad encontrada, así como la alta frecuencia de consumo de alimentos poco saludables, se recomienda tomar medidas de promoción de la salud en estas escuelas.

Abstract Introduction: Eating behaviors acquired in childhood tend to be perpetuated in adulthood, so adherence to a healthy diet from an early age becomes important to prevent the onset of the occurrence of diet-related chronic non-communicable diseases. The aim of this study is to evaluate the food consumption of students in the third cycle of basic education and their parents and its relationship with weight status. Methodology: This is a cross-sectional study. Data from 358 students and 318 parents living on Terceira Island (Azores, Portugal) were included in the study. A questionnaire was developed to collect sociodemographic, dietary habits and anthropometric data, this was applied between May and June 2015. A food frequency questionnaire was used, and weight and height were used to calculate the body mass index. A descriptive analysis of the variables under study was performed and the Mann-Whitney's test was used to compare the means between groups. Results: A high prevalence of pre-obesity/obesity (students: 33.0%; parents: 62.4%) was found. Vegetables are consumed most often by parents while fruits, fast food and sweets are consumed more frequently by students. Normal weight students reported a higher frequency of soy, olive oil, sunflower oil, and sweets compared with overweight students, on the other hand overweight parents reported a higher frequency of consumption of milk, pork, fatty fish, potatoes, vegetables, citrus fruits, and sunflower oil, compared with normal weight parents. Conclusions: Given the high prevalence of pre-obesity/obesity found, as well as the high frequency of consumption of unhealthy foods, it is recommended that health promotion measures be taken in these schools.

Resumen Introducción: Las conductas alimentarias adquiridas en la infancia tienden a perpetuarse en la edad adulta, por lo que la adherencia a una dieta saludable desde edades tempranas cobra importancia para prevenir la aparición de enfermedades crónicas no transmisibles relacionadas con la dieta. El objetivo de este estudio es evaluar el consumo de alimentos de los estudiantes del tercer ciclo de educación básica y sus padres, y su relación con el estado de peso. Abstract Inflammatory bowel diseases are a group of inflammatory disorders of the gastrointestinal tract. Their prevalence is still low in Brazil, but the incidence is increasing annually. A variety of compounds present in Curcuma longa L., particularly curcumin, have been shown to reduce oxidative stress and aid in the prevention of associated diseases. This study aimed to assess the effect of curcumin transdermal gel on oxidative stress and intestinal inflammation in IL-10 knockout mice. Female mice were divided into four groups: a control group (C0) treated with vehicle and three experimental groups treated with transdermal gel containing 50 (C50), 75 (C75), and 100 (C100) mg curcumin kg−1 body weight. Colon malondialdehyde concentrations were lower in C50 and C75 groups. C100 treatment led to reduced catalase activity in the small intestine, whereas C50, C75, and C100 treatments resulted in decreased catalase activity in the colon. In contrast, superoxide dismutase activity increased in the small intestine of C50 and C75 mice and decreased in the colon of C50, C75, and C100 mice. Glutathione S-transferase activity increased in the small intestine and decreased in the colon of C75 animals. ABSTRACT The presence of weeds in silvicultural systems has been considered one of the main obstacles to the success of projects designed to recover degraded areas. The aim of this study was to evaluate the selectivity of herbicides applied at post-emergence in the initial growth of seedlings of capixingui (Croton floribundus), açoita-cavalo (Luehea divaricata), and guaritá (Astronium graveolens), in the municipalities of Jaboticabal and Junqueirópolis, state of São Paulo. The experimental design was completely randomized, with four replications, and the treatments consisted of herbicides (g a.i.·ha–1) clethodim + phenoxaprop-p-ethyl (50 + 50), sethoxydim (184), quizalofop-p-ethyl (75), nicosulfuron (50), fluazifop-p-butyl (125), fomesafen (225), haloxyfop-methyl (48), bentazon (720), chlorimuron-ethyl (15), in addition to control without herbicide. The characteristics analyzed were: plant height increase and visual phytointoxication at 7, 14, 21, 28, 35, and 42 days after herbicide application. At the end of the experiment, the shoots of the plants were removed to assess shoot dry matter. The herbicides clethodim + fenoxaprop-p-ethyl, fluazifop-p-butyl, and quizalofop-p-ethyl showed selective potential for the species capixingui, açoita-cavalo, and guaritá. The herbicide chlorimuron-ethyl caused mild intoxication symptoms when applied to seedlings of capixingui and açoita-cavalo; also, it was not selective for the guaritá species grown in Jaboticabal. All species showed selectivity to the herbicides sethoxydim, fomesafen, haloxyfop-methyl, and nicosulfuron, as their growth and initial development were not influenced. The herbicide bentazon caused high percentages of injury to açoita-cavalo plants in both cultivation places, but it did not influence the growth and development of the species.

RESUMO Objetivo: Avaliar a dor e a mobilidade em pacientes com fraturas transtrocantéricas submetidos à osteossíntese com bloqueio do grupo de nervos pericapsulares (PENG) e comparar a pacientes que não receberam o bloqueio. Métodos: Foram analisados os prontuários de 49 pacientes e coletados dados referentes a: idade, sexo, avaliação anestésica, causa do trauma, locomoção, classificação da fratura, tipo de anestesia utilizada, técnica anestésica, dor, administração de opioide e deambulação com carga parcial. Resultados: Dos 49 pacientes, 17 (34,7%) receberam o bloqueio PENG. Após a cirurgia, a maioria dos pacientes queixou-se de dor e foi administrado opioide (67,3%), sendo a maior frequência no grupo sem o bloqueio PENG (93,3%). A maioria dos pacientes que receberam bloqueio PENG deambularam em até 6h após a cirurgia (52,9%) e todos recuperaram a capacidade de deambular até a alta hospitalar (48h), diferindo do grupo que não recebeu o bloqueio PENG (p = 0,012). Houve diferença significativa entre os grupos em relação à frequência de relatos de dor moderada a forte (p = 0,003). Conclusão: O uso de bloqueio PENG em pacientes com fraturas transtrocantéricas submetidos à osteossíntese pode auxiliar na diminuição da dor pós-operatória, deambulação precoce com carga parcial e menor necessidade de uso de opioides. ABSTRACT Objective: To evaluate pain and mobility in patients with transtrochanteric fractures subjected to osteosynthesis with pericapsular nerve group (PENG) block and compare with patients who did not receive the block. Methods: The medical records of 49 patients were analyzed and data were collected regarding: age, gender, anesthetic evaluation, cause of trauma, locomotion, fracture classification, type of anesthesia used, anesthetic technique, pain, opioid administration and mobility with partial load. Results: Out of 49 patients, 17 (34.7 %) received PENG block. After surgery, most patients complained of pain and opioids were administered (67.3 %), with greatest frequency in the group without PENG block (93.3 %). Most patients who received PENG block walked within 6 h after surgery (52.9 %) and all recovered the ability to walk until hospital discharge (48 h), different from the group that did not receive PENG block (p = 0.012). The groups showed a significant difference between them regarding the frequency of reports of moderate to severe pain (p = 0.003). Conclusion: The use of PENG block in patients with transtrochanteric fractures subjected to osteosynthesis can help to reduce postoperative pain, early mobility with partial load and less use of opioids.
