Resumo: O artigo inicia-se com uma distinção entre poesia e filosofia, a partir do destaque da relação especial que a primeira mantém com a palavra. O enfoque desloca-se para o pensamento de Friedrich Nietzsche (1844-1900), argumentando haver, em seus escritos, a construção de uma filosofia nada convencional, em parte por conta do estatuto das ideias expostas, mas também e sobremaneira pela relação íntima com a arte poética, o que se faz evidente pela estilização do pensamento. A hipótese principal é de que não se pode bem compreender a transgressão semântica operada por Nietzsche - sua famosa "transvaloração dos valores" - sem que se considere a transgressão estilística. Por fim, a linguagem aforismática utilizada por Nietzsche é apresentada como a sua "arte do estilo" por excelência.

Abstract: This article begins by distinguishing poetry from philosophy on the basis of the special relationship that the former has with the written word. The focus then shifts to the thinking of Friedrich Nietzsche (1844-1900), and it is argued that in his writings one finds the construction of an unconventional philosophy in part because of the ideas expounded by the author, but also and especially because of its intimate relationship with poetic art, evident in the stylization of thought. It is further argued that Nietzsche's semantic transgression - his famous "transvaluation of values" - can not be properly understood without stylistic transgression. Finally, Nietzsche's aphoristic language is presented as his "art of style" par excellence.

This article conducts a theoretical confrontation between the thinking of Max Weber and that of Friedrich Nietzsche concerning the modern Western world, based on the notions of "death of God" and "disenchantment of the world". The article explores the affinities and differences between the two thinkers, especially from the angle of Weber’s diagnosis of the "culture of technique" and its inexorable effects on subjectivity. The paper’s underlying hypothesis is that despite the parallels that can (and should) be drawn between the two, what prevails is an insurmountable distance, especially by the recognition of the powers of reason and the vision of a cultural world edified under the command of conscious orientations.

Dans cet article, on oppose la pensée de Max Weber à celle de Friedrich Nietzsche à propos de l'Occident moderne, en prenant comme point de départ les notions de "mort de Dieu" et de "désenchantement du monde". On y examine leurs affinités et différences, surtout sous l'angle du diagnostic de Weber sur la "culture de la technique" et ses effets inéluctables sur la subjectivité. L'hypothèse centrale, c'est que, malgré les points de contact qu'on peut et qu'on doit établir entre ces deux penseurs, il reste un fossé infranchissable, dû surtout à la reconnaissance des pouvoirs de la raison et à la vue du monde culturel construites sous la direction des orientations conscientes.

O artigo aborda o tema da estilização do caráter no pensamento de Friedrich Nietzsche, através da apropriação de alguns dos temas centrais da sua filosofia, tais como a crítica avaliativa da modernidade ocidental, o pensamento do 'eterno retorno' e o sentido da 'extemporaneidade' [unzeitgemässe]. Através de um percurso pelo conjunto da sua obra e pelos textos de alguns dos seus comentadores, procura-se estabelecer uma interpretação do significado da sabedoria ativa através do desenvolvimento e embaralhamento, ao mesmo tempo livre e cuidadoso, dos temas referidos acima.

This article discusses the notion of stylization of character in the thought of Friedrich Nietzsche through a few central themes of his philosophy, such as the evaluative critique of western modernity, the 'eternal recurrence' and the meaning of 'untimely'. Using his complete works and a few interpreters, the article aims at establishing an interpretation of the meaning of 'active wisdom' through the development and the mixture, simultaneously unsystematic and careful, of the themes mentioned above.

This essay draws a comparison of perspectivism in Friederich Nietzsche's (1844-1900) and in Max Weber´s intellectual framework (1864-1920), aiming at demonstrating that, despite the affinity between both authors in thinking culture and life as a profusion of meanings and multiple values, that is, lacking any systemic unity, they radically differ when dealing with perspectivism. Such difference leads to distinct conceptions of knowledge, and critical evaluations concerning the "culture of reason" and history.

Este artigo exibe três teses a respeito da relação entre o pensamento de Friedrich Nietzsche (1844-1900) e o de Max Weber (1864-1921), sob o signo geral do estranhamento entre os autores quanto aos pressupostos e algumas abordagens importantes. A primeira tese trata do tema do conhecimento, em especial os problemas de estatuto da verdade e da ciência; a segunda trata do tema dos poderes e das dominações; e a terceira, do tema da tragédia no seio da cultura moderna.

The article deals with three theses regarding the thought of Friedrich Nietzsche (1844-1900) and Max Weber (1864-1921), under the general rubrics of estrangement between the two authors regarding presuppositions and some important approaches. The first thesis deals with the theme of knowledge, especially the problems related to the statute of truth and science; the second one deals with the themes of power and domination; and the third one deals with the theme of tragedy in modern culture.

Cet article propose trois thèses sur le rapport entre les pensées de Friedrich Nietzsche (1844-1900) et de Max Weber (1864-1921). Il a été conçu à partir des différences existantes entre les auteurs relatives aux présupposés et à certains abordages individuels. La première thèse aborde le thème du savoir, en particulier les problèmes du statut de la vérité et de la science. La seconde, celui des pouvoirs et des dominations; et la troisième, la tragédie au sein de la culture moderne.

O artigo consiste num estudo comparativo entre as concepções de cultura de Friedrich Nietzsche e Max Weber, suas análises críticas da modernidade e as respostas éticas que as acompanham. Apesar das importantes afinidades encontradas entre os autores, o artigo procura mostrar que o caráter principal da comparação entre os seus pensamentos é o do desencontro e da incompatibilidade.

The article consistes in a comparative study between Friedrich Nietzsche's and Max Weber's conceptions of culture, their critical analyses of modernity and the ethical answers that follow from them. In spite of the important affinities between the two authors, the article tries to show that the main character of the comparison is that of the divergence and incompatibility.

O texto constitui-se numa série de argumentações a favor da tese de que há uma estreita relação entre racionalidade e tragédia no pensamento weberiano. Tal relação só pode ser desvendada numa modernidade que se apresenta hegemonizada por um "racionalismo de domínio do mundo". Procurarei evidenciá-la relacionando o caráter trágico da cultura ao método racionalista, às racionalizações modernas e à responsabilidade ética.

The text argues that there is a close relationship between rationality and tragedy in Weberian thought. Such a relationship can only be understood in the context of modernity which is ruled by a "world domination rationalism". I will try to make this relationship evident by relating the tragic character of culture to the rationalistic method, to modern rationalizations and, finally, to ethical responsibility.
