Este trabalho, procurando uma maior compreensão do modo de fazer estratégias nas organizações e da constituição das relações formadas entre os atores e as redes de governança, contribui para as teorias Redes de Governança, Estratégia como Prática Social, Resultados Estratégicos e Teoria Ator-Rede, por meio do objetivo: delinear como a articulação do strategizing, como o processo de translação, com a teoria das redes de governança, configuram a governança e os resultados estratégicos de cursos de graduação em Administração de Instituições de Ensino Superior (IES) particulares de Curitiba (Paraná, Brasil). Realizou-se um estudo comparativo de cinco casos por meio de vinte e nove entrevistas semiestruturadas e em profundidade, além de observações não participantes e levantamento de dados de documentos. A análise dos dados foi feita em duas fases: (a) Análise de Narrativas; e (b) Análise Qualitativa Comparativa (Qualitative Comparative Analysis [QCA]). Os resultados mostraram que o processo de strategizinge o entrelaçamento de atores humanos e não humanos são essenciais para a compreensão da governança e dos resultados estratégicos das instituições estudadas. Acredita-se que a articulação teórica proposta no trabalho e os achados da pesquisa empírica formam um corpo de conhecimento consistente e elucidam questões atuais relevantes para compreender nuances relativas às redes de governança, à estratégia como prática social, ao fazer estratégia (e seus resultados) e às questões sociomateriais (atores humanos e não humanos).

In order to obtain a more accurate comprehension of organizations' strategizing and of the relations formed by actors and governance networks, this article intended to contribute to the theories used- Governance Networks, Strategy as a Social Practice, Strategic Outcomes and Actor-Network Theory - by delineating how the articulation of strategizing, as a process of translation, with governance network theory configures the governance and strategic outcomes of Business programs in private Higher Education Institutions in Curitiba (Parana, Brazil). The chosen research method was a comparative case study, by which five cases were studied and twenty-nine in-depth semi-structured interviews were held, besides non-participant observations and document analysis. Data analysis was developed through (a) Narrative Analysis and (b) Qualitative Comparative Analysis (Análise Qualitativa Comparativa [QCA]). The results showed that the strategizing process and the intertwining between human and nonhuman actors are essential to the comprehension of governance and strategic outcomes of the studied institutions. It is believed that the theoretical articulation undertaken in this paper and the empirical research findings form a consistent body of knowledge and elucidate current and relevant questions to understand nuances related to governance networks, strategy as practice, strategizing (and its outcomes) and sociomaterial issues (human and nonhuman actors).

In an attempt to instigate discussion in the areas of organizational studies and strategy, this essay focuses on themes related to Governance, Actor-Network Theory, and Strategic Outcomes. We seek to expand understanding of the Governance Network Theory by proposing the inclusion of human and non-human actors from the Actor-Network Theory in its scope. Recent studies concerning the notion of heterogeneous networks have demonstrated the importance of non-human actors for understanding social and organizational phenomena. When combined with a network perspective, strategy is seen as something that people within organizations do and not something that organizations have (Johnson, Langley, Melin, & Whittington, 2007). Networks require interaction, movement, and process; i.e., the active participation of actors involved. Decision making and activities are continuously realized based on the ties between actors and the content they deal with. We believe that this theoretical framework will reveal aspects and issues taken for granted that should be incorporated in the Governance Network Theory's empirical scope of analysis, primarily for research in plural and complex organizations permeated with ambiguous and power-related issues.

Este ensaio teórico propõe-se a apresentar uma análise introdutória sobre a etnometodologia, abordagem de pesquisa social empírica surgida a partir dos anos sessenta do século passado que impactou a sociologia desde então ao salientar que os etnometodólogos estudam fenômenos sociais, aqueles que estão disponíveis em atividades humanas incorporadas, sensíveis, de fala e ação. Apresenta-se e discute-se o contexto histórico do seu surgimento, evidenciando suas origens, seus conceitos principais, os elementos filosóficos constitutivos, os métodos e os tipos de pesquisa que essa abordagem comporta e desenvolveu ao longo das últimas décadas; bem como críticas e pontos de convergência com outras abordagens de pesquisa social. Sugere-se a abertura de diálogo entre a etnometodologia e os estudos organizacionais que versam no terreno das práticas sociais, argumentando como, a partir do seu caráter multiparadigmático e multifacetado, a etnometodologia pode ser uma abordagem de pesquisa válida para o estudo qualitativo das organizações. Conclui-se que a etnometodologia parece ser uma possibilidade de aproximação com o fenômeno organizacional que permite compreendê-lo de forma adequada com base na noção de práticas sociais.

This theoretical essay aims to present an introductory analysis of ethnomethodology, an empirical social research approach that arose in the 1960s and has had an impact on sociology ever since, as it underlines that ethnomethodologists study social phenomena, those which are available in the incorporated sensitive human activities of speech and action. For this purpose, some issues are presented and discussed, such as the historical context of its emergence, highlighting its origins, main concepts, constitutive philosophical elements, methods and types of research that this approach encompasses and has developed over the past decades, in addition to criticisms and converging points with other social research approaches. The main intention here is to suggest a dialogue between ethnomethodology and organizational studies that deal with social practices, discussing how, from its multiparadigmatic and multifaceted nature, ethnomethodology can be a valid research approach for the qualitative study of organizations. In conclusion, ethnomethodology seems to be a possibility for approaching the organizational phenomenon that allows it to be adequately understood based on the notion of social practices.
