RESUMO Objetivo: caracterizar a Rede Cegonha na atenção à saúde ao bebê de alto risco, apontando seus principais desafios. Método: questionários foram aplicados com os responsáveis pelos bebês e com os profissionais de saúde da rede. Os dados foram analisados quantitativamente. Resultados: as variáveis estatisticamente relevantes foram: vínculo com a Unidade Básica de Saúde; conhecimento dos indivíduos sobre a equipe Núcleos de Apoio à Saúde da Família; ciência das equipes de Saúde da Família quanto ao diagnóstico de gravidez de risco e adesão ao pré-natal; via de comunicação do nascimento dos indivíduos; ciência quanto à necessidade de internação hospitalar, bem como sua duração; conhecimento sobre acompanhamento na Atenção Secundária à Saúde; e o desfecho do mesmo, apontando para uma dificuldade no eixo da coordenação e longitudinalidade dos serviços prestados na rede. Conclusão os maiores desafios estão na cobertura do território pelas equipes de estratégia de Saúde da Família, na ampliação de equipes e na solidificação das parcerias com as Instituições de Ensino Superior, garantindo uma formação profissional diferenciada.

ABSTRACT Objective: To characterize the Stork Network in health care for high-risk babies, pointing out its main challenges. Method: questionnaires were applied with those responsible for the babies and with network health professionals. Data were analyzed quantitatively. Results: statistically relevant variables were: link with the Basic Health Unit; individuals’ awareness of Family Health Support Center team; awareness of Family Health teams regarding the diagnosis of high-risk pregnancy and compliance with prenatal care; means of communication of individuals’ birth; awareness of the need for hospitalization as well as its duration; awareness of follow-up in Secondary Health Care; and its outcome, pointing to a difficulty in the axis of coordination and longitudinality of the services provided in the network. Conclusion: the greatest challenges lie in covering the territory by Family Health strategy teams, expanding teams and solidifying partnerships with Higher Education Institutions, guaranteeing a differentiated professional training.

RESUMEN Objetivo: caracterizar la Red Cigüeña en la atención a la salud de los bebés de alto riesgo, señalando sus principales desafíos. Método: se aplicaron cuestionarios con los responsables de los bebés y con los profesionales de salud de la red. Los datos se analizaron cuantitativamente. Resultados: las variables estadísticamente relevantes fueron: vinculación con la Unidad Básica de Salud; conocimiento de las personas sobre el equipo de los Centros de Apoyo a la Salud de la Familia; sensibilización de los equipos de Salud de la Familia sobre el diagnóstico del embarazo de alto riesgo y la adherencia al control prenatal; medio de comunicación del nacimiento de las personas; conciencia de la necesidad de hospitalización, así como de su duración; conocimientos sobre seguimiento en Atención Secundaria de Salud; y su resultado, apuntando a una dificultad en el eje de coordinación y longitudinalidad de los servicios prestados en la red. Conclusión: los mayores desafíos están en la cobertura del territorio por los equipos de la estrategia de Salud de la Familia, en la ampliación de los equipos y en la consolidación de alianzas con Instituciones de Educación Superior, garantizando una formación profesional diferenciada.

ABSTRACT Purpose: to analyze the use of digital resources by Brazilian phonoaudiologists before and during the period of the COVID-19 pandemic. Methods: cross-sectional study carried out with a representative sample of Brazilian phonoaudiologists, with at least one year of practical experience. An online questionnaire consisting of 28 questions divided into eight sections was prepared. Data were analyzed and are reported as absolute and relative frequency regarding the variables: respondent’s age, highest degree and years of experience; weekly working hours; region of the country; type of service and area of expertise; use of digital means before and during the pandemic and willingness to use the same kind of resource after the pandemic. Results: telehealth technologies were used by 90% of phonoaudiologists in Brazil since before the COVID-19 pandemic. A change in the profile of technologies used was observed: after the pandemic, videoconferences gained more use in contact with patients compared to the pre-pandemic period even though contact via mobile phone and instant messaging applications are the most used, both before and during the pandemic. Conclusion: the study's findings demonstrate that 90% of phonoaudiologists who answered the questionnaire in Brazil used and still make use of telehealth technologies to contact patients.

A pandemia da COVID-19 trouxe desafios e necessidade de adaptação em diversas frentes. A atualização das formas de trabalho é necessária e promover ensino e atendimento no setor saúde condizentes com o século XXI é fundamental. Não estamos apenas tratando da formação de graduandos na área de Fonoaudiologia, mas do atendimento clínico a uma parcela significativa da população que depende dos serviços de clínicas-escola vinculadas às universidades e centros de formação em nossa profissão.Neste texto traremos algumas reflexões sobre a relevância do uso das tecnologias de telessaúde para a formação de fonoaudiólogos, considerando a articulação entre as diretrizes curriculares nacionais, a formação profissional e aspectos éticos.

The COVID-19 pandemic brought challenges and the need for adaptation on several fronts. Updating the ways of working is necessary and promoting education and care in the health sector in line with the 21st century is essential. In addition to undergraduate students training in Speech-Language Pathology (SLP) field, based on the necessary opportunities for practical experience with patients during undergraduation, a significant portion of the population is attended by school clinics linked to universities and training centers, which work in conjunction with public health services. In this text we will bring some reflections on the relevance of using telehealth technologies for speech therapists training, considering the articulation between national curricular guidelines, professional training and ethical aspects.

OBJECTIVES: To compare the diagnostic accuracy of a low-cost screening test for identifying children at risk for language disorders with that of a specific language assessment. METHODS: The study was conducted during a polio vaccination campaign in basic health units in western São Paulo, Brazil. The parents/guardians of 1000 children aged between 0 and 5 years were asked to answer questions of a specific screening test. The instrument consisted of a uniform set of questions about the main milestones in language development (from 0 to 5 years of age) with scaled scores to assess responses. There were no exclusion criteria. After the screening test, the children were referred to a specific language assessment by ABFW, following a determined flow of referrals. The results obtained in the screening were compared to those obtained in the specific language assessment; then, the sensitivity, specificity, accuracy, and positive and negative predictive values were determined for the screening test. Children who failed the screening test also underwent an audiological evaluation. The statistical significance was set at 5%. RESULTS: The majority of the participants were aged between 4 and 5 years (21.82%) and were male (51.6%). The sensitivity and specificity values were 82.5% and 98.93%, respectively. The area under the curve was 0.907 (0.887-0.925), and the screening test showed 96% accuracy. CONCLUSIONS: The screening test showed high diagnostic efficiency in determining the risk of language disorders in children aged between 0 and 5 years.

RESUMO Objetivo: Elaborar e apresentar a construção de um programa inovador, com suporte tecnológico, de orientação fonoaudiológica a pais de crianças com risco para alteração de linguagem, com o propósito de minimizar as consequências de um transtorno do desenvolvimento da linguagem (TDL). Método: Foi desenvolvido um aplicativo para smartphone, tablet e computadores com o objetivo de apresentar um material inovador, tecnológico e motivador para que houvesse maior integração e dedicação durante o acompanhamento das famílias e a intervenção pudesse ser feita a distância. Resultados: O conteúdo foi organizado em videoaulas (orientações teóricas foram realizadas em forma de videoaulas, lecionadas pela própria avaliadora), vídeos (documentários e vídeos do site YouTube), reportagens (reportagens curtas vinculadas a sites especializados em desenvolvimento infantil), conteúdo complementar (atividades culturais e de lazer para serem realizadas em família) e atividades (atividades para estimulação das habilidades trabalhadas na videoaula de cada semana proposta no aplicativo). Conclusão: Foi possível elaborar um Programa de Orientação a distância capaz de criar um espaço terapêutico inovador, tecnológico e motivador compatível com a realidade das famílias atuais.

ABSTRACT Purpose: To elaborate and show an innovative speech and language guidance program for smartphones, tablets, and computers, with technological support. The program aims to help parents of children at risk for language disorder in order to minimize the consequences of a developmental language disorder (DLD). Method: An app was developed to provide a dynamic interaction between the researcher and the families for at a distance intervention, aiming to reach the greatest number of children to promote language development in a broad, low-cost and effective way. Results: The content was organized in video-lessons (theoretical orientations were carried out in the form of video-lessons, taught by the researcher), videos (documentaries and videos from YouTube), reports (reports linked to sites specializing in child development), complementary content (cultural and leisure activities to be done in family) and activities (activities to stimulate the skills worked on in each week’s video lesson proposed in the application). Conclusion: We created a remote orientation program proposing an innovative, technological, and motivating therapeutic environment compatible with the reality of today’s families.

MÉTODOS Foi feito levantamento de todos os bebês de risco nascidos na região entre 2013 e 2014. Em seguida, fez-se busca ativa dessas crianças para posterior aplicação do questionário PCATool versão criança. Foram localizadas no território 233 crianças; 113 responsáveis por crianças concordaram em participar do estudo, e 81 compuseram a amostra final. RESULTADOS Quanto aos resultados do PCATool para escores geral e essencial, as unidades com Estratégia Saúde da Família foram mais bem avaliadas pelos usuários quando comparadas com as unidades básicas de saúde tradicional, com diferença estatisticamente significante. Entretanto, estes escores apresentaram-se baixos para ambos os modelos de gestão. Quanto aos atributos, a Estratégia Saúde da Família apresentou desempenho melhor quando comparada à unidade básica de saúde tradicional para a maioria deles, com exceção de coordenação dos sistemas de informação. Dos dez atributos avaliados, sete atingiram valores ≥ 6,6 para a Estratégia Saúde da Família e dois, para unidade básica de saúde tradicional. CONCLUSÕES Independentemente do modelo de gestão, verificaram-se baixos escores geral e essencial, indicando que os responsáveis pelos bebês de risco avaliaram como insatisfatórios alguns atributos, com destaque para acessibilidade, integralidade e orientação familiar. Esse desempenho pode trazer consequências negativas para a qualidade e integralidade do cuidado ao bebê de risco.

METHODS A survey was conducted with all at-risk infants born in the western region of São Paulo between 2013 and 2014. The children were then actively searched for a later application of the PCATool – child version. The total of 233 children were located in the territory; 113 guardians agreed to participate, and 81 composed the final sample. RESULTS Regarding the results of PCATool for overall and essential scores, the units with Family Health Strategy were better evaluated by users, when compared with traditional basic health units, showing a statistically significant difference. However, these scores were low for both management models. Regarding attributes, the Family Health Strategy presented better performance compared with traditional basic health units for most of them, except for coordination of information systems. Of ten assessed attributes, seven reached values ≥6.6 for Family Health Strategy and two for the traditional basic health unit. CONCLUSIONS Regardless of the type of management model, low overall and essential scores were found, indicating that guardians of at-risk infants rated some attributes as unsatisfactory, with emphasis on accessibility, integrality and family guidance. Such a performance may have negative consequences for the quality and integrality of these infants’ health care.

RESUMO Objetivo Caracterizar bebês de risco quanto ao perfil sociodemográfico e de saúde e descrever o acompanhamento de parte destes nas Unidades Básicas de Saúde (UBS), segundo diferentes modelos de gestão. Método Levantamento de dados de prontuários dos bebês de risco nascidos na região Oeste da cidade de São Paulo entre agosto de 2013 e fevereiro de 2014 em duas etapas (1 – caracterização; 2 – acompanhamento do desenvolvimento). Resultados Dos 225 indivíduos incluídos na primeira etapa, 51,1% eram do gênero feminino e 7,11% eram gemelares. Predominaram mães adolescentes (45,2%), pardas (50,56%), com ensino fundamental completo (47,60%) e solteiras (46,09%). A média de consultas pré-natais foi de 7,12. A maioria teve parto vaginal (62,21%) com idade gestacional média de 37,05 semanas. A média do Apgar foi de 7,13 no 1º minuto e 8,80 no 5º minuto. O peso médio ao nascimento foi de 2597,21 g, com 50,22% apresentando peso ≤2500g. Na segunda etapa, descreveu-se e comparou-se o acompanhamento do desenvolvimento de 55 bebês, segundo o modelo de gestão das UBS (28 em UBS/Estratégia Saúde da Família [ESF] e 27 em UBS tradicional). As UBS/ESF apresentaram maior média de consultas (p=0,006). Houve maior intervalo entre consultas nas UBS tradicionais. Da amostra, 56% não apresentaram registros referentes aos marcos de desenvolvimento. As medidas de crescimento foram registradas em maior número nas UBS/ESF. Para ambos, o número de consultas e o intervalo entre estas foram menores que o preconizado pelo Ministério da Saúde. Conclusão Ainda existem lacunas no acompanhamento ao bebê de risco, segundo as diretrizes preconizadas na Rede Cegonha.

ABSTRACT Purpose Characterize infants at risk of neurodevelopmental disorders according to sociodemographic and health profiles and describe their monitoring in Basic Health Units (UBS) under different management models. Methods Data were collected from medical records of infants at risk of neurodevelopmental disorders in the west region of the city of Sao Paulo from August 2013 to February 2014 (phase 1 – characterization; phase 2 – monitoring). Results Of the 225 individuals assessed in the first phase of the study, 51.1% were female and 7.11% were twins. Adolescent (45.2%), brown (50.56%), single (46.09%), complete primary education (47.60%) mothers were predominant. The mean number of prenatal visits was 7.12. Most mothers had vaginal delivery (62.22%) at mean gestational age of 37.05 weeks. Mean Apgar scores at the 1st and 5th minutes were 7.13 and 8.80, respectively. Mean weight at birth was 2597.21g., with 50.22% of newborns weighting ≤2500g. In its second phase, the study describes and compares the follow-up of 55 infants according to the UBS management model: 28 in UBS/“Estratégia Saúde da Família” (UBS/ESF) and 27 in traditional UBS (UBS/T). UBS/ESF presented higher mean of consultations (p=0.006). Longer interval between consultations was observed at UBS/T. No records of development milestones were found in 56% of the sample. Growth measures were better registered at UBS/ESF. In both management models, the number of consultations was smaller and the interval between them was shorter than those recommended by the Brazilian Ministry of Health. Conclusion According to the recommended guidelines of the “Rede Cegonha” public policy, gaps in the monitoring of infants at risk of neurodevelopmental disorders are still observed.

RESUMO Introdução Conhecer o fluxo de referência e contrarreferência de serviços de saúde de alta complexidade é imprescindível para o aperfeiçoamento da assistência fonoaudiológica. Objetivo Analisar o fluxo de pacientes de um serviço de Fonoaudiologia de alta complexidade no Sistema Único de Saúde (SUS). Métodos Estudo descritivo, realizado em serviço de Fonoaudiologia de hospital de alta complexidade. Foram analisados os dados de 373 usuários submetidos à triagem fonoaudiológica (consulta a prontuários). As variáveis analisadas foram: perfil sociodemográfico e fonoaudiológico; origem dos usuários (referência); tempo entre a referência e a realização da triagem; encaminhamentos após a triagem (contrarreferência); tempo entre a conclusão da triagem e o primeiro atendimento fonoaudiológico no serviço de contrarreferência; grau de satisfação com o atendimento fonoaudiológico de contrarreferência. Resultados Predominaram indivíduos com idades entre 0 e 11 anos e 11 meses, do gênero masculino, residentes na cidade de São Paulo, com ensino fundamental incompleto. A hipótese diagnóstica fonoaudiológica de disfonia foi a mais prevalente. A maioria dos usuários foi referenciada pela atenção terciária. A média de tempo de espera para a triagem foi de 56,6 dias (intervalo predominante de 51 a 60 dias). Pouco mais da metade dos sujeitos foi encaminhada para o nível terciário. O tempo de espera pelo atendimento foi maior no nível secundário. A maioria dos usuários referiu como excelente ou bom o grau de satisfação com o atendimento. Conclusão Observou-se alto grau de resolutividade no serviço analisado (atenção terciária) e necessidade de reorganização dos sistemas de referência e contrarreferência na atenção secundária e primária.

ABSTRACT Introduction For optimum quality in Speech, Language and Hearing (SLH) healthcare, it is essential to be aware of the flow of referrals and counter-referrals for high-complexity health services. Purpose To analyze the flow of patients of a high-complexity SLH service in Brazil’s Unified Health System (Sistema Único de Saúde – SUS). Methods Descriptive study, made at a Speech, language and hearing (SLH) service of a high complexity hospital. Participants were 373 users who underwent SLH screening (consultation of health records). The variables analyzed were: social-demographic profile; SLH profile; origin of referral of users; time between referral and screening being carried out; referrals after screening (counter-referral); time between conclusion of screening and first SLH consultation in the counter-referred service; and degree of satisfaction with the SLH consultation of the counter-referral. Results The largest group was the age range zero to 11 years 11 months, male, resident in the city of São Paulo, who had not completed primary education. The most prevalent initial diagnosis in SLH terms was dysphonia. The majority of users were referred to tertiary care. The average waiting time for screening was 56.6 days. Just over half the subjects were referred for tertiary care. The waiting time for care was longest at the secondary level. The majority of users stated their degree of satisfaction with the care to be excellent or good. Conclusion A high degree of resolutiveness was observed in the tertiary care service analyzed; and a need was observed in secondary and primary care for reorganization of the systems of referral and counter-referral.

OBJECTIVE: To identify children at risk for hearing and/or language disorders and to investigate the association between these risks by conducting pre-validated hearing and language screenings. METHODS: The study was conducted during a polio vaccination campaign in August of 2013 in basic health units in western São Paulo. Parents of children between 2 and 5 years of age were asked to complete two screening tools: a hearing questionnaire (regarding hearing development) and a language production and comprehension scale (including the major language development milestones). The screening tools were administered by different researchers. We compared the risk of having language disorders among children at risk for hearing loss versus children not at risk, as well as the attributable risk and odds ratios. Chi-squared tests and logistic regression analyses were used. RESULTS: The study included 479 children with a mean age of three and one-half years, of whom 26.9% were identified as at risk for deficits in language production, 8.6% were at risk for deficits in language comprehension and 14% were at risk for hearing disorders. The children at risk for hearing disorders were twice as likely as those not at risk to exhibit language production and comprehension deficits. CONCLUSION: The results of this study highlight the importance of establishing and adopting low-cost procedures such as screenings to identify children at risk of developing language and/or hearing disorders in early childhood.

RESUMO Objetivo Identificar as alterações fonoaudiológicas em crianças residentes na região oeste de São Paulo; verificar as associações entre a hipótese diagnóstica (HD) e a faixa etária, o gênero e a origem do encaminhamento; e investigar o grau de concordância entre a queixa e a HD no momento da triagem fonoaudiológica. Método Estudo epidemiológico observacional, desenvolvido em um laboratório de Atenção Primária à Saúde. Realizou-se o levantamento de 525 prontuários de crianças atendidas entre 2002 e 2011. As variáveis analisadas foram: gênero e idade da criança; origem do encaminhamento, queixa relatada pelos pais, HD fonoaudiológica e conduta estabelecida. Resultados Houve predomínio de crianças do gênero masculino (68,3%), da faixa etária entre 3 anos e 5 anos e 11 meses (48,7%), encaminhadas por um profissional da Área da saúde (51,9%) e com mais de uma queixa referida pelos pais (26,1%). As HDs fonoaudiológicas mais frequentes foram Transtorno Fonológico (22,9%) e Mais de uma Hipótese (19,4%). A maioria das crianças foi encaminhada à própria clínica-escola em que foi realizada a triagem (77,9%). Houve associação entre HD fonoaudiológica e as variáveis faixa etária (p<0,001*), gênero (p=0,008*) e origem dos encaminhamentos (p<0,001). O grau de concordância entre as queixas e as HDs foi moderado. Conclusão Comprovou-se que há diferentes HDs fonoaudiológicas de acordo com a faixa etária, o gênero e a origem dos encaminhamentos. Recomenda-se a utilização de screening fonoaudiológico em conjunto com as informações fornecidas pelos pais para rastreamento das alterações fonoaudiológicas.

ABSTRACT Purpose To establish the speech-language disorders in children living in the western region of São Paulo; to assess associations between diagnosis hypotheses (DH) and the age, gender and origin of referral; and to investigate the degree of agreement between the complaint and the DH at the moment of speech-language screening. Methods Observational epidemiological study conducted at a laboratory of Primary Health Care. A survey of 525 medical records of children between 2002 and 2011 was conducted. The following variables were analyzed: gender and age of the child; origin of referral, complaint reported by parents, diagnosis hypothesis and referrals. Results There was a predominance of male children (68.3%) and of the age group between 3 and 5 years and 11 months (48.7%), referred by a health professional (51.9%) and with more than one complaint reported by parents (26.1%). The most frequent DH were Phonological Disorder (22.9%) and more than one Diagnosis Hypothesis (19.4%). Most children were referred to a clinic-school where screening was performed (77.9%). There was an association between DH and the variables age (p <0.001*), gender (p = 0.008*) and origin of referrals (p <0.001). The degree of agreement between complaints and DHs was moderate. Conclusion It has been proven that there are different DHs according to age, gender and origin of referrals. The use of speech-language screening with the information provided by parents for tracking of speech pathology is recommended.

RESUMO Objetivo Avaliar atributos essenciais (acesso de primeiro contato, longitudinalidade, integralidade e coordenação da atenção) e derivados (orientação familiar e comunitária) da Atenção Primária em Saúde (APS) na percepção de usuários com e sem deficiência. Método Estudo transversal observacional utilizando o questionário Primary Care Assesment Tool em usuários autodeclarados com e sem deficiência de cinco unidades básicas de saúde de um município no qual 55% da população depende do SUS. Foram atribuídos escores para as respostas dadas a cada atributo de atenção primária à saúde avaliado. Resultados Participaram 93 usuários (67 com e 26 sem deficiência). Não houve diferença estatisticamente significante para nenhum dos atributos na comparação entre pessoas com e sem deficiência. Para o grupo como um todo, obtiveram-se escores acima do critério de corte: Grau de afiliação, Acesso de primeiro contato (utilização), Longitudinalidade e Coordenação da atenção (sistema de informação). Receberam pior avaliação: Acesso de primeiro contato (acessibilidade), Coordenação da atenção (integralidade do cuidado), Integralidade (serviços disponíveis e prestados) e Orientação familiar e comunitária. Os usuários reconhecem que as equipes identificam problemas de locomoção e movimentação, mas que existem falhas no reconhecimento de problemas para ouvir, falar e enxergar; e na orientação das pessoas que necessitam de auxílio e das que prestam cuidados. Conclusão Os usuários com e sem deficiência avaliaram de forma semelhante a atenção que recebem e indicaram fragilidades no reconhecimento de demandas específicas. Há necessidade de mudanças (estruturais e do processo de trabalho) para assegurar acessibilidade, integralidade do cuidado e orientação familiar e comunitária e, assim, melhor qualificar a APS.

ABSTRACT Purpose To evaluate the core (First Contact, Longitudinality, Comprehensiveness, and Coordination of Services) and derivative (Family Orientation, Community Orientation) attributes of primary health care (PHC) from the perspective of users with and without disabilities. Methods Observational, cross-sectional study using the Primary Care Assessment Tool (PCAT) with users with and without disabilities of five basic health units (BHU) in a municipality where 55% of the population depends on the Brazilian Unified Health System (SUS). Scores were assigned to the responses given to each of the PHC attributes evaluated. Results Study participants were 93 (67 physically disabled and 26 without disabilities) PHC users. No statistically significant differences were observed for any attribute on the comparison between the populations. For both groups, the attributes Degree of Affiliation, First Contact - Utilization, Longitudinality, and Coordination of Services - Information System received satisfactory (above cutoff) scores, whereas the attributes First Contact - Accessibility, Coordination of Services - Care Integration, Comprehensiveness, Family Orientation, and Community Orientation received unsatisfactory (below cutoff) scores. Users reported that the health teams are able to satisfactorily identify mobility issues, but there are failures in the recognition of problems of hearing, voice/speech and vision, and in the orientation of services available and services provided. Conclusion Users with and without disabilities evaluated the health care received similarly, indicating fragilities on the recognition of specific demands. Structural and work process changes should be conducted to ensure Accessibility, Comprehensiveness, and Family and Community Orientation, and thus increase the quality of PHC.

OBJETIVO: Analisar a eficácia do fluxo de referência e contrarreferência fonoaudiológico realizados em uma clínica-escola e caracterizar o perfil dos usuários atendidos. MÉTODOS: Estudo do tipo avaliativo, retrospectivo e prospectivo, no qual foram selecionados 503 prontuários de pacientes sem restrição de idade atendidos numa clínica-escola e analisadas as seguintes variáveis: informações demográficas, hipótese diagnóstica fonoaudiológica e conduta fonoaudiológica. Os pacientes foram distribuídos em dois grupos, segundo os encaminhamentos realizados: internos (G1, n=341) e externos (G2, n=162) à própria clínica-escola. RESULTADOS: Prevaleceram os sujeitos do gênero masculino, com até 12 anos de idade e hipótese diagnóstica fonoaudiológica de alterações de linguagem oral de origem primária e secundária. Foi observado que 83% dos pacientes do G1 foram convocados para avaliação e terapia fonoaudiológica após, em média, 7 meses de espera; e, que dos pacientes contatados do G2 (n=101), 13,9% foram convocados e estão satisfeitos com o local indicado para terapia após, em média, 4 meses de espera. Daqueles que não conseguiram atendimento, 46% procuraram outro serviço, sendo que desses, 72,5% obtiveram êxito. CONCLUSÃO: Foi constatada a eficácia e adequação dos encaminhamentos realizados internamente, sugerindo que quando a equipe trabalha com objetivo comum, a rede funciona de maneira mais adequada. Entretanto, em relação aos encaminhamentos externos, esses não atingiram as metas propostas, indicando a falta de fonoaudiólogos em serviços públicos e o baixo interesse do usuário em buscar outros locais de atendimento.

OBJECTIVE: To analyze the effectiveness of the referral and counter-referral flow in a speech-language pathology and audiology clinic-school and to characterize the patients' profiles. METHODS: Evaluation, retrospective, and prospective study, in which 503 patient records, without age restriction, were selected from a clinic-school and the following variables were analyzed: demographic information, speech and hearing diagnosis, and references. Patients were distributed into two groups according to the referrals made: internal (G1, n=341) and external (G2, n=162) to the clinic-school. RESULTS: A prevalence of male subjects under 12 years of age and with diagnosis of language disorders (primary and secondary) was found. It was observed that 83% patients in G1 were recalled for evaluation and speech therapy after an average of 7 months of waiting; and from the patients in G2 that were contacted (n=101), 13.9% were summoned and are satisfied with the place indicated for therapy after an average of 4 months of waiting. From those who did not receive care, 46% sought another service, and of these, 72.5% were successful. CONCLUSION: The data show the effectiveness and appropriateness of referrals made internally, suggesting that, when the team works together, the network operates more adequately. However, in relation to external referrals, they did not reach the proposed goals, indicating a lack of speech-language pathologists in public services and the low interest of patients in looking for other places of care.
