Abstract The phenomenon of summer mortality in Pacific oysters cultures also occurs in Brazilian crops, with predominance in the adult phase, generating significant losses for local producers. In the search for a technological solution to mitigate its effects, the mechanical vapour compression and hydraulic refrigeration concepts are evaluated as two proposed cooling technologies. The comparative analysis carried out with numeric simulations indicated that the hydraulic cooling system presents disadvantages regarding both the size of the compression column and the energy efficiency, compared to the mechanical vapour compression cycle. By computing only the compression power, a COP value of 6.9 results for the MVCS at TCOND = 29.5 oC and TEVAP = 7.2 oC, while for HRS the COP value is around 3.1 for identical conditions. Results from the analysis contradict former publications, but are consistent with recent findings reported in literature.

Resumo Este artigo apresenta uma aplicação da técnica de contagem de pixel (PxC) em um programa de simulação energética de edificações para avaliar a evolução da mancha solar nas superfícies internas de edificações. A contagem de pixel já foi reconhecida como uma técnica eficaz para cálculos de sombreamento em superfícies externas devido a sua eficiência para simular geometrias complexas com baixo custo computacional. Dessa maneira, a técnica foi estendida para ser aplicada em superfícies internas no software Domus. Neste artigo, uma validação comparativa da contagem de pixel implementada no Domus e um estudo do impacto da mancha solar sobre as temperaturas superficiais são apresentados. Para a validação, dois estudos de caso foram simulados e os resultados de mancha solar provenientes dos programas Domus e SHADING Tools Plugin, o qual também usa contagem de pixels, são comparados. Como resultado, Domus e SHADING Tools Plugin apresentam valores similares de fração solar. Usando uma zona única como estudo de caso, o impacto da mancha solar sobre as temperaturas internas são demonstradas. Observa-se a similaridade do movimento das manchas de sol e de temperatura superficial sobre o piso, e também a diferença de 4 °C entre as regiões sombreadas e ensolaradas, o que pode impactar a precisão da simulação de conforto térmico.

Abstract This pilot study aims to analyze the solar radiation transmission, daylight performance and glare reduction probability of complex shape solar control devices, developed with parametric modeling and digital fabrication. As methodology, initially the Rhinoceros3D+Grasshopper digital tools suite was used for the parametric modeling of solar control devices. Performance evaluations were performed by computational simulation and measurements in prototypes. For the simulations, the Diva-for-Rhino and Ladybug plug-ins were used. For the measurements, through digital fabrication, a prototype used for glare evaluations through HDR photographs was made. As main results, the solar control devices contributed to the control of solar radiation admission, better daylight distribution and glare reduction in the indoor analysis environment, confirming the reliability of the methodological procedures employed. It is important to highlight the effects of depth and inclination of the devices analyzed, respectively on the daylight distribution and selectivity in the admission of solar radiation between winter and summer. Finally, the shading masks show that despite all the development of modeling and simulation tools, the simple understanding of the solar geometry is still essential for the adequate performance of the solar control devices.

Este artigo trata o problema de controle de conforto térmico para ocupantes de edificações. Conforto térmico e um conceito de difícil definição e neste trabalho, utilisa-ze índice PMV (Predicted Mean Vote) para sua avaliação. Através deste índice, duas estratégias de controle preditivo caracterizadas por ter restrições terminais, denominadas aqui de PMV-MBPC (PMV Model Based Predictive Controller), são apresentadas. Na primeira estratégia, a gestão do conforto termico é realizada através da geração de sinais de referêsencia para o controlador, que otimiza o valor de PMV dentro de uma zona térmica da edificação. Na segunda, o modelo de PMV está incluso nos cálculos de previsão do controlador, gerando um modelo não-linear com estrutura Wiener. Resultados relacionados com a garantia de estabilidade do sistema em malha fechada são propostos. Neste contexto, um ambiente para testes (célula-teste) de sistemas de controle é descrita e a primeira abordagem é então implementada em tempo real neste ambiente usando um aquecedor a óleo. Resultados experimentais ilustram o desempenho do sistema controle para conforto térmico. Adicionalmente, resultados de simulação, conduzidos com dados climáticos horários, ilustram também o desempenho dos algoritmos de controle.

The present paper is focused on thermal comfort control problem for building occupants. Thermal comfort is a concept difficult to define and, here, the PMV (Predicted Mean Vote) index is used by means of two predictive control strategies, characterized by having terminal constraints, called here PMV-MBPC (PMV Model Based Predictive Controller). The first thermal comfort control strategy is based on generating a temperature set-point signal that optimizes the building (single zone) internal PMV value. The second one includes the PMV model in the controller prediction computations, generating a non-linear PMV model having Wiener structure. Results related to closed loop system stability are proposed. In this context, an environment for control systems tests is described and the first approach is then implemented in real time using an oil-heater and this environment. Experimental results illustrate the thermal comfort control system performance. Additionally, simulation results, conducted with hourly weather data, also illustrate the control algorithms performance.

The central aim of this article is to demonstrate the development and characteristics of an inter-institutional relationship with a view to perfecting existing technology in reducing the consumption of energy in household refrigerators and also to show the adequacy of the case studied for the most recent preconceived ideas concerning the development of Etzkowitz's Triple Helix. The study refers to the technological cooperation between universities and industries and the presentation of a successful experience in which the joint action of individual institutions led to technological gains for both parties. The data was collected from individual in depth interviews with the research coordinators at the both company and the university. The results obtained showed not only the efficiency of the joint research but also the success of the cooperation and the identification of the practice of new positions raised in recent studies. Thus, by studying the experience of these institutions in technological cooperation, we can see that the productivity and efficiency of the cooperation between the university and the company open up possibilities for contributing to the technological development of the country.

O objetivo central deste artigo é apresentar o desenvolvimento e as características de um relacionamento interinstitucional, visando ao aperfeiçoamento da tecnologia existente em redução de consumo de energia em sistemas domésticos de refrigeração e também a adequação do caso estudado aos pressupostos mais recentes do desenvolvimento do modelo da Tripla Hélice de Etzkowitz. O estudo refere-se a cooperações tecnológicas entre universidades e empresas e à apresentação de uma experiência de sucesso, em que a atuação conjunta de instituições distintas conduziu a ganhos tecnológicos para ambas as partes. Os dados foram levantados por meio de entrevistas individuais em profundidade com os coordenadores da pesquisa na universidade e na empresa. Os resultados obtidos demonstraram não apenas a eficiência do trabalho conjunto, mas também o sucesso da atuação cooperativa e a identificação, na prática, de novos posicionamentos levantados em estudos recentes. Desse modo, pode-se perceber por meio do estudo da experiência dessas instituições em uma cooperação tecnológica, a produtividade e eficiência do trabalho cooperativo universidadeempresa e suas possibilidades de contribuição ao desenvolvimento tecnológico do País.
