RESUMO: Este estudo avaliou o potencial probiótico in vitro de Lacticaseibacillus casei CB054 (Lsc.CB054) oriundo de colostro bovino anaerobicamente fermentado. Para verificar a capacidade probiótica e a segurança da bactéria, uma série de testes in vitro foi realizada. Os ensaios incluíram a avaliação da capacidade hemolítica, citotoxicidade, suscetibilidade antimicrobiana, tolerância às condições adversas, sobrevivência no trato gastrointestinal, atividade antagônica contra bactérias patogênicas e habilidades de auto e coagregação. Os resultados obtidos evidenciaram que a bactéria avaliada não apresentou atividade hemolítica, bem como não demonstrou efeito citotóxico sobre a linhagem de células Madin-Darby Bovine Kidney. Observou-se também que Lsc.CB054 foi suscetível a nove (9/10) dos antimicrobianos testados, apresentando resistência apenas à sulfonamida. Quando submetido a várias condições ácidas, sais biliares e fenol, a taxa de sobrevivência de Lsc.CB054 foi ≥ 8 log UFC/mL. Na simulação do trato intestinal, a presença de alimento com bile não afetou a multiplicação da bactéria; no entanto, o tempo de exposição impactou a multiplicação bacteriana. Por outro lado, nenhuma célula viável de Lsc.CB054 foi observada após 30 minutos de exposição ao trato gástrico simulado sem alimento. Lsc.CB054 apresentou atividade antagônica contra Salmonella Typhimurium (18,5 mm), Staphylococcus aureus (23,5 mm), Listeria monocytogenes (15,5 mm) e Escherichia coli (18,0 mm) e exibiu autoagregação (> 75%) e coagregação com L. monocytogenes (> 79%). Os resultados in vitro do presente estudo revelam o potencial probiótico do isolado Lsc.CB054.

ABSTRACT: This study evaluated Lacticaseibacillus casei CB054 (Lsc.CB054) from anaerobically fermented bovine colostrum for its in vitro probiotic potential. We performed a series of in vitro tests to verify the probiotic capacity and safety of the bacterial isolate. These tests included the evaluation of hemolytic capacity, cytotoxicity, antimicrobial susceptibility, tolerance to adverse conditions, survival in the gastrointestinal tract, antagonistic activity against pathogenic bacteria, and auto- and co-aggregation abilities. The results demonstrated no hemolytic activity, and the microorganism did not exert a cytotoxic effect on Madin-Darby Bovine Kidney cells. It was observed that Lsc.CB054 was susceptible to nine (9/10) of the antimicrobials tested, showing resistance only to sulfonamide. When subjected to various acidic conditions, bile salts, and phenol, the survival rate of Lsc.CB054 was ≥ 8 log CFU/mL. In simulations of the intestinal tract, the presence of food with bile did not affect the multiplication of the bacterium; however, the duration of exposure impacted bacterial multiplication. Conversely, no viable cells of Lsc.CB054 were observed after 30 minutes of exposure to the simulated gastric tract without food. The isolate displayed antagonistic activity against Salmonella Typhimurium (18.5 mm), Staphylococcus aureus (23.5 mm), Listeria monocytogenes (15.5 mm), and Escherichia coli (18.0 mm), and exhibited auto-aggregation (> 75%) and co-aggregation with L. monocytogenes (> 79%). According to the results of this in vitro study, the probiotic potential of Lsc.CB054 is revealed.

O objetivo foi avaliar a cobertura nacional de registro de partos no Sistema de Informação Hospitalar do Sistema Único de Saúde (SIH/SUS), segundo o hospital de ocorrência, e verificar características institucionais associadas. Realizou-se estudo ecológico descritivo com dados do SIH/SUS, do Sistema de Informações sobre Nascidos Vivos (SINASC) e do Cadastro Nacional de Estabelecimentos de Saúde (CNES) de acesso público, de 2012-2020. Internações de mulheres de 10 a 49 anos para parto vaginal ou cesariana no SIH/SUS foram comparadas aos registros de nascidos vivos ocorridos em partos hospitalares em estabelecimentos com convênio SUS e mais de 100 nascidos vivos/ano no SINASC. A cobertura foi medida pela proporção de internações para partos (SIH/SUS) em relação ao total de nascidos vivos SINASC. Modelos de classificação supervisionada, árvore de decisão e floresta aleatória foram utilizados para identificar as características hospitalares para a predição da cobertura. A cobertura no SIH/SUS foi estimada em 86,9%, e em 80,6% após a exclusão de hospitais com cobertura > 100%. Maiores coberturas foram observadas nas regiões Norte e Nordeste e menores no Sul e no Centro-oeste. Houve aumento da cobertura nacional de 77,9% para 82,3% no período. Os principais fatores preditivos foram a proporção de cesarianas, a quantidade de leitos obstétricos do SUS, a esfera administrativa e o porte do hospital, com menor cobertura em serviços que apresentam maior prevalência de cesarianas. Falhas no registro do CNES foram identificadas no SINASC. A cobertura de registro de partos pelo SIH/SUS é elevada, sendo menor em hospitais com elevada proporção de cesarianas. Estratégias de melhoria contínua da qualidade de registro nos sistemas de informação são necessárias.

El objetivo fue evaluar la cobertura nacional de registro de partos en el Sistema de Información Hospitalaria del Sistema Único de Salud brasileño (SIH/SUS), según el hospital de ocurrencia y verificar las características institucionales asociadas. Se realizó un estudio ecológico descriptivo con datos del SIH/SUS, el Sistema de Información de Nacidos Vivos (SINASC) y el Catastro Nacional de Establecimientos de Salud (CNES), de acceso público, en el período 2012-2020. Se compararon las hospitalizaciones de mujeres de 10 a 49 años para parto vaginal o cesárea en el SIH/SUS con los registros de nacidos vivos ocurridos en partos hospitalarios en establecimientos con convenio SUS y más de 100 nacidos vivos/año en el SINASC. La cobertura se midió por la proporción de hospitalizaciones por parto (SIH/SUS) con relación al total de nacidos vivos SINASC. Se utilizaron modelos de clasificación supervisada, árbol de decisión y bosque aleatorio para identificar las características hospitalarias para predecir la cobertura. La cobertura en el SIH/SUS se estimó en un 86,9% y un 80,6% después de excluir los hospitales con cobertura > 100%. Se observó mayor cobertura en las regiones Norte y Nordeste y menor en las regiones Sur y Centro-Oeste. Hubo un aumento en la cobertura nacional del 77,9% al 82,3% en este período. Los principales factores predictivos fueron la proporción de cesáreas, las camas obstétricas del SUS, el ámbito administrativo y el tamaño del hospital, con menor cobertura en los servicios con mayor proporción de cesáreas. En el SINASC se identificaron fallas en el registro del CNES. La cobertura de registro de partos en el SIH/SUS del país es alta, y es menor en hospitales con alta proporción de cesáreas. Se requieren estrategias para la mejora continua de la calidad de los registros en los sistemas de información.

This study aimed to evaluate the national coverage of birth registration within the Brazilian Hospital Information System of the Brazilian Unified National Health System (SIH/SUS), according to the hospital of birth, and identify associated institutional characteristics. A descriptive ecological study was conducted using available data from the SIH/SUS, the Brazilian Information System on Live Births (SINASC), and the Brazilian National Registry of Health Establishments (CNES) from 2012 to 2020. Hospital admissions of women aged 10 to 49 for vaginal childbirth or cesarean section in the SIH/SUS were compared to live birth records from hospital deliveries in SUS-contracted establishments with more than 100 live births per year in SINASC. Coverage was measured by the proportion of admissions for childbirth (SIH/SUS) in relation to the total number of live births in SINASC. Supervised classification models, decision trees, and random forests were used to identify hospital characteristics predictive of coverage. Coverage in the SIH/SUS was estimated at 86.9%, and 80.6% after excluding hospitals with > 100% coverage. Higher coverage rates were observed in the North and Northeast regions, whereas lower rates were seen in the South and Central-West regions. National coverage increased from 77.9% to 82.3% during the period. The main predictive factors were the proportion of cesarean sections, the number of obstetric beds of SUS, the administrative sphere, and facility size, with lower coverage in services with a higher proportion of cesarean sections. Inconsistencies in CNES registration were identified in SINASC. Birth registration coverage in the SIH/SUS is high across the country, though lower in hospitals with a high proportion of cesarean sections. Strategies for continuous improvement of quality for information system records are necessary.

Métodos: Estudo ecológico descritivo com dados públicos do SIH, Sistema de Informação sobre Mortalidade (SIM) e Cadastro Nacional de Estabelecimentos de Saúde (CNES) no período 2012–2020. Óbitos em internações de MIF no SIH foram comparados aos do SIM. Calculou-se a cobertura pela proporção de óbitos no SIH em relação ao SIM. Modelos de classificação supervisionada — árvore de decisão e floresta aleatória — foram utilizados para identificação das características hospitalares relacionadas à cobertura. Resultados: A cobertura de registro de óbito de MIF foi estimada em 78%, e em 71,8% após exclusão de hospitais com cobertura >100%. Menor cobertura foi observada na região Norte (67,7%) e maior na Sul (76,9%). Houve aumento da cobertura — de 69% para 74,4% — no período. Os principais fatores preditivos da cobertura foram instalação física de urgência/emergência, esfera administrativa, nível de complexidade, proporção de leitos adultos conveniados ao SUS e atividade de ensino, com menor cobertura naqueles com instalação de urgência/emergência e maior cobertura naqueles com maior complexidade, da esfera federal, com atividade de ensino e maior proporção de leitos adultos conveniados ao SUS. Falhas no registro do CNES foram identificadas no SIM. Conclusão: A cobertura de registro de óbito de MIF no SIH no país é elevada e crescente. Diferenças regionais reforçam a necessidade de estratégias de melhoria da qualidade dos sistemas de informação.

Flaws in the CNES registration were identified in SIM. Conclusion: The coverage of WCA death registration in SIH in the country is high and growing. ABSTRACT Permeated by a conjuncture that includes human relations, artificial intelligence systems and socio-digital platforms, the various ways of producing, sharing and accessing information in contemporary times are marked by an ambience of power and politics which, as a strategic resource, sustains socio-cultural contexts and modes of governance mediated by disinformation. In view of this, this theoretical and descriptive study was designed with the aim of presenting the main elements that, based on the theoretical interface that connects the concepts of disinformation and the information regime, make up what would be a disinformation regime. From an epistemological point of view, this study offers a new look at this concept that has been presented with evidence, especially in Information Science: the information regime, in an attempt to adapt it to a social environment in which disinformation operates in the transformation of structures and notions established over time.

RESUMO Permeados por uma conjuntura que contempla relações humanas, sistemas de inteligência artificial e plataformas sociodigitais, os diversos modos de produção, compartilhamento e acesso às informações na contemporaneidade são marcados por uma ambiência de poder e política que, enquanto recurso estratégico, sustenta contextos socioculturais e modos de governança mediados pela desinformação. Diante disso, foi concebida essa pesquisa teórica e descritiva, com o objetivo de apresentar os principais elementos que, a partir da interface teórica que conecta conceitos de desinformação e regime de informação, compõem o que seria um regime de desinformação. Do ponto de vista epistemológico esse estudo oferece um novo olhar para este conceito apresentado com evidência, sobretudo, na Ciência da Informação: o regime de informação, na tentativa de adequá-lo a um ambiente social no qual a desinformação opera na transformação de estruturas e de noções estabelecidas ao longo do tempo.

ABSTRACT Objective: The aim of this study was to characterize the parameters of reproductive anatomy and pituitary hormone expression levels in ames dwarf mice (Prop1df/df). Materials and methods: Male Prop1df/df mice aged 30 days received daily intraperitoneal injections of recombinant human GH and levothyroxine three times weekly for 60 days. The sexual maturation of these animals was compared with that of their wild-type (Prop+/+) and untreated (Prop1df/df) siblings. Results: The Prop1df/df treated group developed sexual maturation 2 weeks later than the Prop+/+ group and presented an increase in testicular weight, complete spermatogenesis, and enhanced LH and FSH expression. The Prop1df/df untreated group had low FSH expression and no offspring; most animals in this group did not develop sexual maturation during the study period. Conclusion: Replacement with GH and levothyroxine appeared to play a crucial role in restoring peripheral reproductive parameters and increasing pituitary hormone expression in Prop1df/df mice.

Abstract Since bull fertility prediction remains challenging, the identification of potential fertility markers is important considering the economic benefits to the livestock industry. The main goal of this study was to determine the Na/K-ATPase activity and expression in thawed sperm of high (HF)- and low-fertility (LF) Angus bulls. Samples from three different batches/bulls with HF (n = 4) and LF (n = 4) were used. The Na/K-ATPase activity was determined after thawing, whereas sperm kinematics, membrane integrity, and expression of Na/K-ATPase on sperm surface were evaluated immediately post-thaw and after 120 minutes of incubation. Within the same incubation time, there was no difference on sperm membrane integrity, kinematics, and the expression of Na/K-ATPase on the sperm surface between HF and LF bulls. Kinematic parameters of LIN and VCL were not influenced by incubation time in samples from HF and LF, respectively. A tendency (P = 0.06) of higher Na/K-ATPase enzymatic activity for sperm of HF bulls compared to LF bulls was observed (0.49 ± 0.07 and 0.32 ± 0.06, respectively). In conclusion, Na/K-ATPase activity and expression in thawed sperm from Angus bulls are not related to the fertility index after fixed-time artificial insemination. However, sperm kinematics related to hyperactivation might indicate higher sperm cryotolerance for HF bulls.

Resumo A interprofissionalidade foi tema central do nono edital do Programa de Educação pelo Trabalho para a Saúde. O objetivo deste estudo foi descrever a disponibilidade dos estudantes que participaram do programa para a aprendizagem interprofissional. A pesquisa, de abordagem quantitativa e de perspectiva descritivo-exploratória, coletou dados através da readiness for interprofessional learning scale, adaptada para o português do Brasil. Os resultados indicam que há disponibilidade para o trabalho em equipe e a colaboração. Também foram encontrados percentuais significativos relacionados à identidade profissional, o que indica disponibilidade para a aprendizagem interprofissional, embora aspectos relacionados à competição tenham aparecido através de percentuais menores de concordância em relação à aprendizagem compartilhada e interdependência das práticas profissionais. Para a atenção centrada no usuário também foram encontrados resultados que indicam boa disponibilidade entre os participantes; porém, aspectos relacionados à colaboração do usuário na produção dos serviços de saúde ainda expressam a tendência de uma lógica centrada nos profissionais. Conclui-se que há disponibilidade positiva para a educação interprofissional, que precisa ser cada vez mais estimulada nas políticas e estratégias de reformas curriculares.

Abstract Interprofessionality was the central theme of the ninth call for proposals of the Education by Working for Health Program. The objective of this study was to describe the readiness of students who participated in the program for interprofessional learning. The research, of a quantitative approach and descriptive-exploratory perspective, collected data by applying the readiness for interprofessional learning scale (RIPLS), adapted for Brazilian Portuguese. The results indicate an important readiness for teamwork and collaboration. Relevant percentages were also found regarding professional identity, indicating good readiness for interprofessional learning, although aspects related to competition appeared in lower percentages of agreement regarding shared learning and interdependence of professional practices. For user-centered care, results were also found indicating good readiness among participants; however, aspects related to the collaboration of the user in the production of health services still express the tendency of a professional-centered logic. In conclusion, there is a positive readiness for interprofessional education, which needs to be increasingly stimulated in policies and strategies of curricular reforms.

The research, of a quantitative approach and descriptive-exploratory perspective, collected data by applying the readiness for interprofessional learning scale (RIPLS), adapted for Brazilian Portuguese. The results indicate an important readiness for teamwork and collaboration. Relevant percentages were also found regarding professional identity, indicating good readiness for interprofessional learning, although aspects related to competition appeared in lower percentages of agreement regarding shared learning and interdependence of professional practices. For user-centered care, results were also found indicating good readiness among participants; however, aspects related to the collaboration of the user in the production of health services still express the tendency of a professional-centered logic. In conclusion, there is a positive readiness for interprofessional education, which needs to be increasingly stimulated in policies and strategies of curricular reforms.

Resumo A interprofissionalidade foi tema central do nono edital do Programa de Educação pelo Trabalho para a Saúde. O objetivo deste estudo foi descrever a disponibilidade dos estudantes que participaram do programa para a aprendizagem interprofissional. A pesquisa, de abordagem quantitativa e de perspectiva descritivo-exploratória, coletou dados através da readiness for interprofessional learning scale, adaptada para o português do Brasil. Os resultados indicam que há disponibilidade para o trabalho em equipe e a colaboração. Também foram encontrados percentuais significativos relacionados à identidade profissional, o que indica disponibilidade para a aprendizagem interprofissional, embora aspectos relacionados à competição tenham aparecido através de percentuais menores de concordância em relação à aprendizagem compartilhada e interdependência das práticas profissionais. Para a atenção centrada no usuário também foram encontrados resultados que indicam boa disponibilidade entre os participantes; porém, aspectos relacionados à colaboração do usuário na produção dos serviços de saúde ainda expressam a tendência de uma lógica centrada nos profissionais. Conclui-se que há disponibilidade positiva para a educação interprofissional, que precisa ser cada vez mais estimulada nas políticas e estratégias de reformas curriculares.

Resumo Hiperinformação, teorias da conspiração, algoritmos, fake news, fake science, deep fake, pós-verdade, cultura do ódio, são termos que compõem o cenário informacional da atualidade no que concerne à desinformação, enquanto conceito e processo mediador da contemporaneidade. Diante dessa conjuntura, diversas esferas da sociedade são desafiadas a conduzir relações e processos que possam contrapor essa realidade. Destacam-se, nessa missão, escolas, universidades e demais centros educacionais, que possuem um papel preponderante para o desenvolvimento do senso crítico que norteie uma opinião pública balizada pelo compromisso comum com a ética, a liberdade e a racionalidade, capaz de fazer frente à desinformação. Neste sentido, embora confrontados com uma realidade de desvalorização profissional, baixos salários e defasagem quanto à oferta de aperfeiçoamentos, os professores cumprem uma função importante ao atuar como mediadores entre o conhecimento e as pessoas, possibilitando o fortalecimento da cidadania. A partir dessa realidade, diversas áreas do conhecimento têm apresentado contributos no sentido de entender esse potencial de enfrentamento à conjuntura de desinformação no ambiente escolar e acadêmico com a participação ativa dos docentes. Embora pareçam discutir esse fenômeno a partir de diferentes perspectivas, alguns domínios teóricos podem possuir aproximações conceituais e epistemológicas complementares. Assim, o objetivo deste estudo é dialogar sobre as possibilidades de utilização de um constructo interdominial entre Competência Crítica em Informação (CCI) e a educomunicação no âmbito educacional; e propor uma sequência de atividades educomunicativas na formação de professores.

Abstract Hyperinformation, conspiracy theories, algorithms, fake news, fake science, deep fake, post-truth, hate culture, are terms that make up the informational scenario of today regarding disinformation, as a concept and mediating process of contemporaneity. Facing this conjuncture, several spheres of society are challenged to conduct relations and processes that can counteract this reality. In this mission, schools, universities and other educational centers stand out, which have a preponderant role in the development of a critical sense that guides a public opinion marked by a common commitment to ethics, freedom and rationality, capable of facing up to disinformation. In this sense, although faced with a reality of professional devaluation, low salaries, and a lag in the supply of training, teachers play an important role by acting as mediators between knowledge and people, enabling the strengthening of citizenship. Based on this reality, several areas of knowledge have presented contributions in order to understand this potential to face the disinformation conjuncture in the school and academic environment with the active participation of teachers. Although they seem to discuss this phenomenon from different perspectives, some theoretical fields may have complementary conceptual and epistemological approaches. So, the aim of this study is to discuss the possibilities of using an interdominial construct between Critical Information Competence (CCI) and Educommunication in the educational field; and to propose a sequence of educommunicative activities in teacher education.

Abstract The Early Cretaceous volcanic Jaguarão Formation formed duringthe early stages of Gondwana breakup. These felsic rocks characteristically enclose numerous crustal xenoliths. Fieldwork, petrographic studies, and laser ablation multicollector ion coupled plasma mass spectrometer (LA-ICP-MS) U-Pb analyses were carried out to evaluate the xenoliths of the Jaguarão Formation. A base-to-top distribution of xenoliths in the different flows of the volcanic pile indicates that earlier flows incorporated centimeter-sized fragments of local underlying gneiss, granite, and quartz veins, with limited assimilation. In the middle part of the volcanic pile, the size of the xenoliths is smaller and assimilation textures are more frequent. At this same level, reequilibrated orthopyroxene and plagioclase antecrysts were recognized, suggesting fractionation coeval with assimilation in a lower magmatic chamber prior to extrusion. At the top, no visible xenoliths occur. U-Pb ages of the zircon xenocrysts served as a proxy for assessing the crust underlying the volcanic rocks. Most of the ages obtained are similar to the ages of the Eastern Dom Feliciano Belt cropping out nearby, ranging from 680 to 620 Ma, with a subordinate group ranging from 580 to 570 Ma, suggesting a shallow crust contribution. The presence of few Paleoproterozoic and Mesoproterozoic (1.0-1.2 Ma) zircons, however, suggeststhat the underlying terrain may be more complex..

Abstract This study evaluated the influence of non-thermal argon plasma applied to dentin on the shear strength of two adhesive systems. Ninety tooth fragments were embedded in epoxy resin and distributed into experimental groups (n=15): G1 and G4 - adhesive systems applied according to the manufacturers’ instructions; G2 and G5 - dentin treated with non-thermal argon plasma for 30 seconds before hybridization; G3 and G6 - dentin treated with non-thermal argon plasma for 30 seconds after hybridization. Cylinders were made with composite resin in the adhesive area, and the specimens were submitted to the shear strength test. Higher values were observed when applying the plasma treatment after hybridization (G1: 26.51 MPa, G2: 29.22 MPa, G3: 30.27 MPa, G4: 22.66 MPa, G5: 28.33 MPa, G6: 29.32 MPa). The treatment with non-thermal argon plasma significantly increased the shear strength values regardless of the application time.

Abstract The Cr-rich Jacurici Complex is located at the limit between the Serrinha Block and the Salvador-Curaçá Belt, Northeastern São Francisco Craton. In order to better understand the age span of magmatism and tectonism, we have studied a basement high-grade charnockite orthogneiss, a metanorite of the Complex and a crosscuting undeformed quartz-feldspar pegmatite. For the orthogneiss, SHRIMP U-Pb ages of zircon cores and overgrowth rims yielded, 2966 ± 9 Ma for crystallization and 2091 ± 10 Ma for metamorphism, respectively. Zircons from the metanorite show internal textures consistent with high grade metamorphism. The U-Pb LA-ICP-MS age determination provided a 2099 ± 6 Ma metamorphic age for the Jacurici Complex, indicating it was already emplaced during amalgamation around 2.1 Ga. Zircons from the undeformed quartz-feldspar pegmatite provided a LA-ICP-MS U-Pb age of 2083 ± 11Ma, marking the end of the N-S transcurrence. The magmatic Jacurici Complex age remains undefined, but is equal to, or older than, 2.1 Ga. Therefore, possible correlations with other mafic-ultramafic intrusions, such as the Cu-rich Caraíba Complex, should be reassessed. Our results indicate that the N-S transcurrence ended earlier in the Jacurici Complex region than in the northwestern area of the Salvador-Curaçá belt.

Resumo O objetivo deste estudo foi avaliar o desgaste de superfície, a presença de microtrincas e irregularidades superficiais dos instrumentos WaveOne (WO) e WaveOne Gold (WOG) antes e após múltiplos usos. Oito instrumentos Primary dos sistemas WO e WOG foram avaliados, cada um utilizado no preparo de seis canais mesiais de molares inferiores humanos extraídos. A superfície dos instrumentos foi avaliada antes do uso (T0), após a instrumentação de três (T1) e seis (T2) canais radiculares. O desgaste de superfície foi analisado utilizando um perfilômetro ótico tridimensional e a presença de microtrincas e irregularidades superficiais foram avaliadas usando um microscópio eletrônico de varredura de bancada. O teste de Friedman foi usado para avaliar o desgaste de superfície e o teste de Kruskal-Wallis para avaliar a presença de microtrincas e irregularidades superficiais, com nível de significância de 5%. Houve um aumento significativo no desgaste em ambos os grupos em T2, comparado a T0 (p=0.0003). O desgaste de superfície após a instrumentação de seis canais (T2-T0) foi estatisticamente maior no grupo WOG que no grupo WO (p=0.02), onde a presença de microtrincas foi estatisticamente maior e aumentou após os múltiplos usos (p<0.05). A presença de irregularidades na superfície da lamina de corte antes e após o uso aumento significativamente no grupo WOG comparado ao grupo WO (p<0.05). Desgaste da lâmina de corte, microtrincas e irregularidades superficiais foram observadas na topografia de superfície de todos os instrumentos após os múltiplos usos. Essas alterações na superfície podem afetar a eficiência de corte dos instrumentos WOG e amentar o risco de fratura dos instrumentos WO.

Abstract The aim of this study was to evaluate surface wear, presence of microcracks and surface irregularities of WaveOne (WO) and WaveOne Gold (WOG) instruments before and after multiple uses. Eight Primary instruments of the WO and WOG systems were evaluated, each one was used to prepare six mesial canals of extracted human mandibular molars. The surface of the instruments was evaluated before use (T0), after instrumentation of three (T1) and six (T2) root canals. Surface wear was analyzed using a three-dimensional optical profiler and the presence of microcracks and surface irregularities were evaluated using a tabletop scanning electron microscopy. The Friedman test was used to assess surface wear and Kruskal-Wallis test to evaluate the presence of microcracks and surface irregularities, with a 5% significance level. There was a significant increase in wear in both groups at T2, compared to T0 (p=0.0003). The surface wear after instrumentation of six canals (T2-T0) was statistically greater in the WOG group, than in the WO group (p=0.02), where the presence of microcracks was significantly greater and increased after multiple uses (p<0.05). The presence of surface irregularities in the cutting blade before and after use was statistically greater in the WOG group than WO group (p<0.05). Wear of the cutting blade, microcracks and surface irregularities were observed on the surface topography of all the instruments after multiple uses. These surface changes may affect the cutting efficiency of WOG files and increase the risk of fracture of WO files.
