Abstract As a consequence of the outbreak of the French Revolution, in Saint Domingue occurred a particular and unique racial conflict and civil war in the French Caribbean, which involved white proprietors or habitants and the mulattoes or gens de couleur, also owners of the land and the slaves. It was then that the chary families of the colonial elite abandoned their residences and moved to the Spanish side, taking there some capital and domestic slaves. The flow of émigrés increased in August 1791 due to the uprising of the slaves of the Northern Province and, since March 1793, it happened as a result of the international conflict caused by the regicide of Louis XVI and the confrontation between the republican strongholds and the Spanish and English occupation forces. This article explains in detail and analyses the backgrounds, the causes of the exodus of the white owners or habitants, and the reasons that led them to leave their homeland, become emigrants, seek for refuge in the Spanish Santo Domingo, and even enlist in the armies of the Spanish king as long to fight against the French Republic and its revolution.

Resumen Como consecuencia del estallido de la Revolución Francesa, en Saint Domingue se produjo una guerra civil de tipo racial, particular y única en el Caribe francés, que involucró a los propietarios blancos o habitants y a los mulatos gens de couleur, también dueños de la tierra y los esclavos. Fue entonces cuando las familias precavidas de la élite colonial abandonaron sus residencias y se mudaron al lado español, llevando consigo algunos capitales y esclavos domésticos. El flujo de émigrés incrementó en agosto de 1791 debido al levantamiento de los esclavos de la Provincia del Norte y, desde marzo de 1793, se dio como resultado del conflicto internacional provocado por el regicidio de Luis XVI y la confrontación entre los reductos republicanos y las fuerzas de ocupación españolas e inglesas. Este artículo explica con detalle y analiza los antecedentes, las causas del éxodo de los propietarios blancos o habitants y los motivos que los llevaron a abandonar su patria, convertirse en emigrantes, buscar refugio en el Santo Domingo español y hasta enlistarse en los ejércitos del rey español con tal de combatir a la República Francesa y su revolución.

Abstract: An automatic irrigation system for ahuyama crops is proposed in the department of Sucre, Colombia. The designed system is composed of a tuned proportional, integral, and derivative controller (PID) and of a data acquisition system connected to a cloud using Internet of Things tools. The user controls the crop remotely and manages the historical and in real time information to assess the water requirement of the crop according to atmospheric and soil variables. The reference values obtained from the differences between the desired humidity in the crop and the humidity measured in real time in the soil and the microclimate of the crop were lower than 2%. The system proved to be efficient, stable, and optimizes the error in steady state, which contributes to low-cost field implementation and makes the system an important contribution to the region.

Resumen: Se plantea un sistema de riego automático para cultivos de ahuyama en el departamento de Sucre, Colombia. El sistema diseñado se compone de un controlador proporcional, integral y derivativo (PID) sintonizado y un sistema de adquisición de datos conectado a la nube mediante herramientas del Internet de las Cosas. El usuario controla el cultivo de manera remota y gestiona la información histórica y en tiempo real para evaluar el requerimiento hídrico del cultivo de variables atmosféricas y suelo. Los valores referenciales obtenidos de las diferencias entre la humedad deseada en el cultivo y la humedad medida en tiempo real en el suelo y el microclima del cultivo fueron inferiores al 2%. El sistema demostró ser eficiente, estable y optimiza el error en estado estacionario, lo que contribuye para la implementación en campo a bajo costo y resultando en un aporte importante para la región.

Abstract: The objective of the present study was to analyze the gelatinization curves of native starches extracted from the Criollo, Espino and Diamante 22 yam species. Methodologically, a rheometer and a rapid starch analyzer were used. It was found that the initial gelatinization temperature was higher for the Criollo and Diamante 22 species. The highest viscosity was obtained in the Hawthorn species. Finally, the Criollo and Diamante 22 species presented greater stability and less tendency to retro degradation favoring their use in foods that require to maintain a gel of stable consistency to cooking processes and in products that need cooling during their preparation. This suggests their possible use in food formulations that require fast development of viscosity and a gel of stable consistency.

Resumen: El objetivo del presente estudio fue analizar las curvas de gelatinización de almidones nativos, extraídos de las especies de ñame Criollo, Espino y Diamante 22. Metodológicamente, se utilizó un reómetro y un analizador rápido de almidón. Se concluye que la temperatura inicial de gelatinización fue mayor para las especies Criollo y Diamante 22. La mayor viscosidad se obtuvo en la especie Espino. Las especies Criollo y Diamante 22 presentaron mayor estabilidad y menor tendencia a la retro-degradación potencializando su uso en alimentos que requieran mantener un gel de consistencia estable a procesos de cocción y en productos que necesiten enfriamiento durante su preparación. Esto sugiere su posible uso en formulaciones de alimentos que requieran el rápido desarrollo de la viscosidad y un gel de consistencia estable.

RESUMEN Este artículo problematiza el difundido diagnóstico sobre la relación entre política y verdad, o política y mentira, que se moviliza con el vocablo posverdad. Primero, se cuestiona la presunta novedad histórica que este pretende identificar, recordando cómo la filosofía política en Occidente ha estado atravesada por una ansiedad frente a la fuerza amenazante de un discurso huérfano y errante que circula sin conciencia y sin referente. Segundo, se indican las limitaciones del reproche en relación con la retirada de la razón y la veracidad de la política, y su falla en atender a cómo, desplazándonos del campo de la política electoral al de la técnica gubernamental, opera hoy una producción de la verdad de lo social en un discurso tecnocientífico hegemónico. Tercero, se muestra que hay una coherencia estructural entre la técnica gubernamental de la hiperverdad y el inescrupoloso interés estratégico en la realpolitik de la política electoral, coherencia anclada en las premisas ontológicas y epistémicas de la concepción moderna de lo político. Finalmente, se destaca la potencia crítica que ante este panorama nos ofrece aún el legado del posestructuralismo.

ABSTRACT This article problematizes the extended diagnosis regarding the relation between truth and politics, or politics and lies, mobilized by the term post-truth. First, it puts into question the presumed historical novelty that the term signals to, reminding us how Western political philosophy has always been marked by the anxiety towards the threathening force of an orphan and erratic discourse with no consciousness and no referent. Second, it indicates the limitations of the reproach against the presumed withdrawal of rationality and veracity from politics, insofar as it fails to take into account the extent to which there is operative nowadays, in a hegemonic tecno-scientific discourse, a production of a certain truth of the social. In order to attend to this other angle of the relation between truth and politics one needs to displace the view from the field of electoral politics, to the field of techniques of government. Third, the article argues that there is a structural coherence between the hyper-truth in which these government techniques operate, and the inescrupulous strategic interest in the realpolitik of electoral politics, a coherence that is anchored in the ontological and epistemological premises of the modern conception of the political. Finally, the article underlines the critical potency that the theoretical legacy of post-structuralism offers to us, facing this landscape.

Resumen En el presente estudio, se exploran las relaciones entre la aplicación de una herramienta difusa aplicada a los sistemas de riego en cultivos de sandía, además del modelamiento y simulación como herramienta aplicada al mismo cultivo. Se trabajaron ambas herramientas a través del software Matlab®, tarjetas de control con sensores y estaciones meteorológicas, donde se tomaron y medíeron los datos relacionados con las condiciones climáticas de la región de estudio. Se concluye que el sistema simulado y aplicado, es económicamente viable como alternativa para el aumento de la producción en pequeños, medianos y grandes cultivadores de sandía en la región sabana del departamento de Sucre, y además el sistema es técnicamente estable desde el punto de vista de la teoría de control con una relación de error menor al 1.5% demostrando buenos niveles de optimización de líquido y consumo energético.

Abstract In the present study, the relationships between the application of a diffuse tool applied to irrigation systems in watermelon crops are explored, as well as modeling and simulation as a tool applied to the same crop. Both tools were worked through Matlab® software, control cards with sensors and meteorological stations, where the data related to the climatic conditions of the Study Region were taken and measured. It is concluded that the simulated and applied system is economically viable as an alternative for the increase of production in small, medium and large farmers of Watermelon, in the Sabanas Region of the Department of Sucre. In addition, the system is technically stable from the point of view of Control Theory with an error ratio of less than 1.5%, demonstrating good levels of liquid optimization and energy consumption.

RESUMEN Este artículo analiza los alcances y efectos políticos que diversos discursos y prácticas religiosas están teniendo en la actual coyuntura histórica de la “construcción de paz” en Colombia. Examina dos estudios de caso específicos de imbricaciones entre lo religioso y lo jurídico para trazar desde allí modos pragmáticamente diferenciados en los cuales pueden darse las complejas relaciones entre religiosidad, estatalidad y violencia en la Colombia del “post-acuerdo”. Se argumenta que nuestros análisis de estos casos deben ir más allá del secularismo, como marco normativo y esquema interpretativo, y moverse hacia una conceptualización más cuidadosa de las diferentes formas de entrecruzamiento entre lo religioso, lo político y lo jurídico. Para avanzar en esta dirección se propone examinar los esfuerzos por parte de Schmitt, Derrida y Foucault de caracterizar una configuración teológico-política que aún persistiría en el marco de los Estados que se pretenden seculares. De esta manera, podríamos entender y evaluar mejor diversas prácticas pastorales marcadamente diferentes, que se orientan por figuras de lo teológico-político no sólo distintas sino incluso antagónicas, y los efectos e implicaciones sociales y políticos de estas prácticas.

ABSTRACT This article analyzes the political reach and effects that diverse religious discourses and practices are having in Colombia’s current “peacebuilding” historical juncture. Examining two specific case studies of entanglements of the religious and the juridical, it traces pragmatically differential ways in which the complexes relations between religiosity, statecraft and violence can be played out in Colombia’s “post-agreement” historical epoch. It argues that our analysis of these case studies should move away from secularism, as a normative stance and an interpretative grid, towards a conceptualization of different forms of effective imbrication between the religious, the political and the juridical, that the understanding of the theologico-political in the works of Schmitt, Derrida and Foucault, might help us to think through. In this way we could better evaluate the contrasting political rationalities of diverse pastoral practices oriented by different figures of the theologico-political, and their social and political effects.

RESUMO Este artigo analisa os alcances e efeitos políticos que diversos discursos e práticas religiosas têm na atual conjuntura histórica da “construção de paz” na Colômbia. Examinam-se dois estudos de caso específicos de imbricações entre o religioso e o jurídico para traçar, a partir disso, modos pragmaticamente diferenciados nos quais podem ocorrer as complexas relações entre religiosidade, estatalidade e violência na Colômbia do “pós-acordo”. Argumenta-se que nossas análises desses casos devem ir além do secularismo, como contexto normativo e esquema interpretativo, e mover-se em direção a uma conceitualização mais cuidadosa das diferentes formas de entrecruzamento do religioso, do político e do jurídico. Para avançar nesse sentido, propõe-se examinar os esforços por parte de Schmitt, Derrida e Foucault em caracterizar uma configuração teológico-política que ainda persistiria no contexto dos Estados que se pretendem seculares. Dessa maneira, poderíamos entender e avaliar melhor diversas práticas pastorais marcadamente diferentes, que se orientam por figuras do teológico-político não somente distintas como, inclusive, antagônicas, e os efeitos e implicações sociais e políticos dessas práticas.

Resumen Se estudiaron las propiedades tecnofuncionales de almidones extraídos de las especies de ñame Criollo, Espino y Diamante 22. Metodológicamente, se realizaron procedimientos analíticos siguiendo los métodos de distintos autores para calcular índice de absorción de agua (IAA), índice de solubilidad en agua (ISA), poder de hinchamiento (PH) y la sinéresis, seguido de estadística descriptiva y diseños experimentales para interpretación de los resultados. Se concluye que el ñame espino presentó el mayor IAA, 15,15 g gel/g muestra, a 90°C). El ISA fue similar para todas las especies. El PH se incrementa directamente en función de la temperatura, arrojando valores de 16,10 g gel/g muestra para las especies criollo y espino, en Diamante 22 el valor fue de 11,25 g gel/g muestra a 90°C. Todas las especies mostraron una disminución progresiva de la sinéresis, infiriendo que estos almidones podrían ser utilizados en la fabricación de alimentos que requieren mantener la humedad del producto.

Abstract This study is aimed at evaluating the techno-functional properties of starches from several yam species (Purple yam, Hawthorn yam and Diamante 22-type yam). Analytical procedures were performed according to the methods described by different authors in order to calculate water-absorption index (WAI), water-solubility index (WSI), swelling power (SP) and syneresis. Likewise, descriptive statistics and experimental designs for interpretation of the results were also performed. The results showed that Hawthorn yam has the highest WAI (15.15 g gel/g sample, at 90°C). While WSI was similar for all species, SP is dependent on the temperature with values of 16.10 g gel/g sample (Purple yam and Hawthorn yam), and 11.25 g gel/g sample at 90°C (Diamante 22-type yam). All yam species underwent progressive reduction in syneresis, which suggests that these types of starches could be used to manufacture foods that require maintaining moisture levels.

Abstract The goal of this study was to model the microclimate in a watermelon crop (Citrullus lanatus) in the department of Sucre. For this, a simulation study was done as an alternative to automatic control for irrigation systems. Methodologically, the Penman-Monteith and the water balance models were used to analyze the water requirement of the crop. As a control strategy, PID and diffuse type controllers were used to compare their behavior and to establish the best option in terms of the difficulties for obtaining the necessary water resource for the crop under the climatic conditions of the savannah of the department of Sucre. It is concluded that, in the modeling applied, the PID controller gave better performance (approximately 3.3 times) compared to the fuzzy controller in terms of a 24-hour work cycle. In addition, the PID controller also achieved better results in terms of power consumption, liquid quantity and system stability, compared to the fuzzy controller.

Resumen El objetivo del presente estudio fue modelar el microclima en un cultivo de sandía (Citrullus lanatus) en el departamento de Sucre en Colombia. Se realizó un estudio de simulación como alternativa de control automático para sistemas de riego. Metodológicamente, se utilizaron los modelos de Penman-Monteith y de balance hídrico para analizar el requerimiento hídrico del cultivo. Como estrategia de control se utilizaron controladores de tipo PID y difuso para comparar su comportamiento y establecer la mejor opción frente a las dificultades de recurso hídrico del cultivo bajo las condiciones climáticas de la sabana del departamento de Sucre. Se concluye que, en el modelamiento aplicado el controlador PID arrojó mejor rendimiento (aproximadamente de 3,3 veces) frente al controlador difuso en términos de un ciclo de trabajo de 24 horas. Además, con el controlador PID también se obtuvieron mejores resultados en términos de consumo energético, cantidad de líquido y estabilidad del sistema, frente al controlador difuso.

Abstract The influence of temperature and frying time by atmospheric immersion on the texture characteristics of the squash was determined. Methodologically, the initial proximal conditions of the squash were determined. Then, an immersion frying process was carried out using temperatures of 130 °C, 150 °C and 170 °C and frying times of 40 s, 80 s, 120 s and 160 s. Finally, a texture profile analysis was carried out for the characteristics of hardness, adhesiveness, cohesiveness, resilience and chewiness of the product obtained. It is concluded that the increase in temperature and processing time decrease hardness and adhesiveness. Finally, for chewiness, the process temperatures used made it possible to obtain products that require the same energy to be disintegrated and ingested by the consumer.

Resumen Se determinó la influencia de la temperatura y tiempo de freído por inmersión sobre las características de textura de la ahuyama (un zapallo o calabaza tropical). Metodológicamente, se determinaron las condiciones proximales iniciales de la ahuyama. Luego, se realizó un proceso de freído por inmersión empleando temperaturas de 130 °C, 150 °C y 170 °C y tiempos de freído de 40 s, 80 s, 120 s y 160 s. Finalmente, se realizó un análisis de perfil de textura para las características de dureza, adhesividad, cohesividad, elasticidad, y masticabilidad del producto obtenido. Se concluye, que el incremento de la temperatura y el tiempo de proceso disminuyen la dureza y la adhesividad. Finalmente, para la masticabilidad las temperaturas de proceso empleadas permiten obtener productos que requerirán igual energía para ser desintegrados e ingeridos por el consumidor.

Abstract The linkage disequilibrium (LD) between molecular markers affects the accuracy of genome-wide association studies and genomic selection application. High-density genotyping platforms allow identifying the genotype of thousands of single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) distributed throughout the animal genomes, which increases the resolution of LD evaluations. This study evaluated the distribution of minor allele frequencies (MAF) and the level of LD in the Colombian Creole cattle breeds Blanco Orejinegro (BON) and Romosinuano (ROMO) using a medium density SNP panel (BovineSNP50K_v2). The LD decay in these breeds was lower than those reported for other taurine breeds, achieving optimal LD values (r2 ≥ 0.3) up to a distance of 70 kb in BON and 100 kb in ROMO, which is possibly associated with the conservation status of these cattle populations and their effective population size. The average MAF for both breeds was 0.27 ± 0.14 with a higher SNP proportion having high MAF values (≥ 0.3). The LD levels and distribution of allele frequencies found in this study suggest that it is possible to have adequate coverage throughout the genome of these breeds using the BovineSNP50K_v2, capturing the effect of most QTL related with productive traits, and ensuring an adequate prediction capacity in genomic analysis.
