Resumo A Psicologia Positiva abrange o estudo das potencialidades e virtudes humanas, envolvendo o funcionamento saudável das pessoas. O objetivo dessa revisão foi verificar na literatura a efetividade de intervenções baseadas nos construtos espiritualidade, felicidade, otimismo e esperança sobre o processo de reabilitação de adultos e idosos. A busca resultou em 245 estudos, dos quais somente dez cumpriram os critérios de inclusão. Observaram-se mais estudos envolvendo esperança e espiritualidade, bem como amostras predominantemente compostas por mulheres. Os resultados mostraram tendência a melhor qualidade de vida dos sujeitos com níveis de esperança ou espiritualidade mais elevados, bem como evidência inicial de melhor resposta a tratamentos que se associaram ao fortalecimento de aspectos saudáveis e positivos. Observou-se que são poucos os ensaios controlados relacionados ao tema, pois a Psicologia Positiva é uma área de estudos em expansão, tornando fundamental o aumento de pesquisas para estabelecer resultados consistentes e confirmar as evidências apresentadas na presente revisão.

Abstract Positive Psychology encompasses the study of human potential and virtues, including the healthy functioning of people. The objective of this literature review was to assess the effectiveness of interventions based on the constructs spirituality, happiness, optimism, and hope concerning the rehabilitation of adults and elderly. The search resulted in 245 studies. Of all articles identified, only 10 met the inclusion criteria. There were more studies addressing hope and spirituality and samples composed predominantly of women. The results showed significantly better quality of life in individuals with higher levels of hope or spirituality and revealed initial evidence of better response to treatments associated with the strengthening of healthy and positive aspects. It was found that there are few controlled trials on this topic due to the fact that Positive Psychology is a growing area of study, and therefore more research is essential in order to achieve consistent results and confirm the evidence presented in this study.

RESUMO Embasamento: A doença de Parkinson (DP) apresenta sintomas que envolvem complicações motoras e não-motoras, entre elas alterações cognitivas e comportamentais, tais alterações podem contraindicar a cirurgia de estimulação cerebral profunda (DBS). Objetivo: O objetivo de estudo foi verificar o perfil neuropsicológico dos pacientes com DP candidatos à DBS. Métodos: Realizou-se avaliação neuropsicológica em 30 pacientes do ambulatório de Distúrbios do Movimento da ISCMPA, com indicação cirúrgica segundo critério dos neurologistas responsáveis, no período de 12 meses. Os instrumentos utilizados: MEEM, FAB, MoCA, BDI, FV Semântica, PDQ-39, PDSS; e as escalas UPDRS e Hoehn-Yahr. Resultados: Os pacientes foram, em sua maioria, homens (66,7%), com média de idade de 59,37 (DP 10,6) e tempo de doença 9,33 (DP 4,0). Apresentaram comprometimento cognitivo em 56,7% dos pacientes segundo os escores do FAB e 76,7% segundo o MoCA. Conclusão: Mesmo em fases mais iniciais da doença, percebe-se a incidência de sintomas não motores, principalmente naqueles sujeitos que tiveram um início de doença precoce da doença.

ABSTRACT Background: Parkinson's disease (PD) shows symptoms involving motor and non-motor complications, including cognitive and behavioral changes, such changes might to contraindicate deep brain stimulation surgery (DBS). Objective: The aim of study was to investigate the neuropsychological profile of patients with PD in a waiting list for DBS. Methods: The neuropsychological evaluation was held in 30 patients of the ISCMPA Movement Disorders Clinic, with surgical indication based on the criteria of the responsible neurologists, in the period of 12 months. Instruments used: MMSE, FAB, MoCA, BDI, Semantic Verbal Fluency, PDQ-39, PDSS; and the UPDRS and Hoehn-Yahr scale. Results: The patients were mostly male (66.7%) with a mean age of 59.37 (SD 10.60) and disease duration 9.33 (SD 4.08). There was cognitive impairment in 56.7% of patients by FAB and 76.7% by MoCA. Conclusion: Even in the earliest stages of the disease, there is the incidence of non-motor symptoms, especially in those subjects who had an early onset of the disease.

A cirurgia de implante de estimulador encefálico profundo (DBS) é considerada um avanço em termos de tratamento para doença de Parkinson, especialmente em casos nos quais o controle dos sintomas motores não é possível por meio de tratamento farmacológico convencional. Os benefícios são bastante estudados na literatura, especialmente no que se refere aos sintomas motores. Contudo, os aspectos cognitivos também envolvidos nessa doença vêm sendo estudados em menor escala. OBJETIVO: O objetivo dessa revisão sistemática é verificar os efeitos da cirurgia DBS nos sintomas motores e cognitivos de pacientes com a Doença de Parkinson. MÉTODOS: A estratégia de busca inclui MEDLINE, LILACS, SCIELO, Biblioteca Cochrane. Ensaios clínicos randomizados com a intervenção cirúrgica DBS e Doença de Parkinson foram incluídos. Dos 178 estudos identificados, 19 cumpriram os critérios de elegibilidade, os quais foram analisados de forma descritiva quanto aos seus resultados. RESULTADOS: O controle dos sintomas motores avaliados através da escala UPDRS, seção III, foi encontrado em todos os estudos, evidenciando o grande interesse por esse desfecho e demonstrando uma vantagem do DBS em comparação com o tratamento convencional medicamentoso. Em relação aos aspectos cognitivos, existe uma heterogeneidade na escolha dos domínios estudados e a utilização de diferentes instrumentos de avaliação para cada um deles, dificultando a comparação e tornando os resultados inconclusivos. CONCLUSÃO: Essa revisão fornece um panorama amplo dos efeitos do DBS nos sintomas da Doença de Parkinson, no entanto sugere-se que futuros estudos estabeleçam um protocolo de avaliação neuropsicológica padrão-ouro para permitir confrontação dos dados e conclusões mais consistentes.

Deep brain stimulator (DBS) implant surgery is considered a breakthrough in the treatment of Parkinson's disease, especially in cases where motor symptoms cannot be controlled through conventional drug treatment. Its benefits have been studied extensively in the literature, particularly in relation to motor symptoms. However, the disease's cognitive aspects have been studied to a lesser extent. OBJECTIVE: This systematic review aims to assess the effects of DBS surgery on motor and cognitive symptoms in patients with Parkinson's disease. METHODS: The search strategy included MEDLINE, LILACs, SCIELO and the Cochrane Library. Randomized clinical trials with DBS surgical intervention and Parkinson's disease were included. Of the 178 studies identified, 19 met the eligibility criteria. These studies were descriptively analyzed as regards to their results. RESULTS: Control of motor symptoms, as assessed by the UPDRS Part III scale, was found in all of the studies, pointing to great interest in this outcome and demonstrating an advantage of DBS over conventional drug treatment. Regarding cognitive aspects, heterogeneity in the choice of subjects studied and the use of different assessment tools for each was evident, hampering comparisons and leading to inconclusive results. CONCLUSION: This review provides a broad overview of the effects of DBS on Parkinson's disease symptoms. However, it is suggested that future studies be conducted to establish a gold-standard protocol for neuropsychological assessment, thereby enabling data comparison and more consistent conclusions.
