Abstract Objective: The objective of this meta-analysis was to study the diagnostic value of lung ultrasound (LUS) for transient tachypnea of the newborn (TTN). Methods: Embase, Cochrane Library, PubMed, Web of Science, and Google Scholar were searched, and the last search date was October 31, 2020. Studies on the diagnostic accuracy of pulmonary ultrasound for transient tachypnea were included. The quality assessment of the included study was assessed using the Diagnostic Accuracy Studies-2 tool. A meta-analysis was performed using Meta-Disc 1.4. A random-effects model was used and subgroup analysis was carried out to identify possible sources of heterogeneity. Results: A total of 378 articles were retrieved and nine studies with 3239 patients were included in the present meta-analysis. The overall quality of the included studies was moderate to high. The result of threshold analysis shows that there was no threshold effect. However, there was a significant heterogeneity caused by non-threshold effects in the included studies. A random-effects model was used. The pooled sensitivity, specificity, PLR and NLR were 0.55 (95% CI: 0.51-0.58), 0.98 (95% CI: 0.98-0.99), 58.30 (95% CI: 14.05-241.88) and 0.28 (95% CI: 0.18-0.43). The pooled DOR and AUC were 689.12 (95% CI: 68.71 to 6911.79) and 0.994. The results of subgroup analysis showed that the LUS diagnostic criteria and gold standard might be responsible for heterogeneity. Choosing "DLP combined with B line" as the diagnostic standard of LUS and choosing CXR as the gold standard could significantly improve the diagnostic performance of LUS. Conclusion: LUS is a promising method to diagnose TTN. Only DLP is not enough to diagnose TTN, while DLP combined with B-line has good diagnostic performance.

Abstract In this study, the synergistic effects of jujube polysaccharide (JP) and flavonoid (JF) on aging mice were investigated. Sub-acutely aging mouse models were established using D-galactose. Eighty experimental mice were randomly assigned to normal, model, vitamin C (200 mg/kg), JP (200 mg/kg), JF (200 mg/kg) and JP + JF (low (100 mg/kg), medium (200 mg/kg), and high-dose (300 mg/kg)) groups (10 mice in per group). After 35 days, the physiological aging indices of mice were measured. JP and JF displayed significantly positive synergistic antiaging effects. Compared with an aging model control group, groups administered JP and JF showed increased indices for the thymus and spleen and significantly increased activities of SOD and GSH-PX in the heart, liver, spleen, and brain (R2 > 0.99, P < 0.01; R2 > 0.98, P < 0.01). The contents of MDA in heart, liver, spleen, brain and serum were significantly decreased (R2 > 0.95, P < 0.01), while those of HYP in skin and serum were significantly increased. The concentrations of neurotransmitters (NE, DA, 5-HT, 5-HIAA) in the brain and serum of mice were significantly increased (P < 0.01). These results indicated that JP and JF acted not only on relevant tissues or organs of mice, but on all body systems.

Abstract To determine the synergistic anti-inflammatory effects of resveratrol (RES) combined with vitamin E (VE) and its mechanism. Lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced RAW264.7 cells were used to determine the effect of resveratrol, vitamin E and their combination on the production of cellular inflammatory mediators, including NO, IL-6, TNF-α, IL-1β, TLR4 and p-NF-κBp65. The synergistic anti-inflammatory effect of the combination was evaluated by ELISA, and the effect of the combination on the TLR4, p-NF-κBp65 and p-IĸBα pathway by Western blot. The results showed that resveratrol combined with vitamin E synergistically inhibited the production of NO, LDH, MPO and inflammatory factors IL-6, TNF-α, IL-1β and TLR4 by LPS-stimulated macrophages, and effectively inhibited the expression of TLR4, p-NF-κBp65 (P<0.01). Resveratrol combined with vitamin E have a synergistic anti-inflammatory effect. They can inhibit the expression of inflammatory mediators and further suppress the activation of TLR4, p-NF-κBp65 and p-IĸBα signaling pathway in LPS-induced RAW264.7 cell, which might provide a new effective way for inflammation treatment.

Abstract The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of Viscum coloratum (Kom.) Nakai f. Lutescens Kitag polysaccharide on fertility, longevity and antioxidant capacity of Drosophila melanogaster. The Drosophila melanogaster were randomly divided into five groups. Four generations of Drosophila melanogaster were cultured continuously in basic medium with or without polysaccharides (400, 200, 100 and 50 mg/L). The changes in fertility, lifespan and male-to-female ratio from F1 to F4 generation. The survival time under acute oxidative damage caused by paraquat and hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) and changes in superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase (CAT) and malondialdehyde (MDA) content were determined as well. High dose of V. coloratum polysaccharide could significantly improve the fertility and lifespans of Drosophila melanogaster from F1 to F4 generation, prolong the survival time under acute oxidative damage. Moreover, the MDA content was decreased sharply, while the activities of SOD and CAT were increased in high group. However, the male-to-female ratio was overall close to 1:1 for F1 to F4 generations among the four groups. V. coloratum polysaccharide improved the antioxidant capacity and vitality of Drosophila melanogaster and promoted their reproductive capacity in a dose-dependent manner.

ABSTRACT The present study investigated the effects of various concentrations of trehalose in Tris-fructose egg yolk diluent on ram semen preservation at 0 ℃. Semen was collected by artificial vagina ejaculation from six rams of proven fertility. High-quality ejaculates were diluted with 0 (control), 5, 10, 15, and 20 mM trehalose of Tris-fructose egg yolk extender and control (tris-fructose egg yolk extender without trehalose), respectively. Then, the ejaculates were diluted to a concentration of 5×108 sperm/mL, cooled to 0 ℃ for 90 min, and maintained at that temperature for twelve days. The diluted semen samples were examined, and their sperm progressive motility, membrane functionality, and acrosome integrity recorded at 0, 24, 72, 144, 216, and 288 h. Two hundred ninety-six ewes were transcervically inseminated with the 216-h control (without trehalose) or the optimal trehalose concentration group semen, and the pregnancy and lambing rates were measured. No significant differences were established in the sperm progressive motility and membrane functionality among the control and 5, 10, 15, and 20 mM groups. The sperm samples of trehalose addition groups had no significant difference in the acrosome integrity of sperm, but they were, nonetheless, significantly higher than those in the control. No significant difference was detected in the lambing and pregnancy rates between the 5 mM and control groups. These results suggest that ram sperm is capable of fertilization after cooling and preservation at 0 ℃ by the use of 5 mM trehalose for Tris-fructose egg yolk diluent. Under these conditions, ram sperm can be more effectively preserved than under other four concentrations of diluents.

ABSTRACT Introduction and Objective: Several studies have focused on the treatment and recurrence of urethral diverticulum (UD). However, few investigations have addressed sexual function in patients with UD. Therefore, we sought to examine sexual function in women affected by UD. Materials and Methods: There were 108 accepted cases involving transvaginal diverticulectomy at our institution. Ultimately, 83 women were included for further analysis, only 61 of these women had sexual partners. We collected data for the Female Sexual Function Index (FSFI) from the female patients and the Male Sexual Health Questionnaire (MSHQ) from their male partners before and after surgery. Results: Preoperatively, the UD size affected the female patient's arousal and lubrication (p=0.04), and the UD location affected their satisfaction. However, no significant between-group differences were found in the total FSFI score. For all women, sexual activity improved after surgery (p=0.0087). In addition to improvements in arousal for women with a large UD, improvements in lubrication were affected by the UD size, number and shape, increases in satisfaction scores were impacted by the UD location and shape, and pain relief was linked to the UD number and shape. Analysis of the MSHQ results revealed no between-group differences among the male partners. Conclusion: Only the UD size and location affected sexual function in women with a small UD. Surgery could improve female sexual function but did not affect the sexual function of the patient's partners.

Treats of symptomatic infants with congenital cystic lung lesions (CCLLs) need surgical resection. Variable location and size of the air cyst of involved lung mean that different surgical strategies must be selected. The presence of huge CCLLs mimicking tension pneumothorax would hamper accurate judgment and timely treatment in dealing with respiratory emergencies. Rare experience reports are coping with childhood tension cystic lung lesion. We present a case of childhood huge CCLLs which was similar to tension pneumothorax based on clinical manifestations and imaging evaluations. Implementation of instant decompression measure against tension pneumothorax failed to alleviate respiratory distress of child. We should exclude the possibility of huge lung cystic lesion in children when clinical evidence inclines to the diagnosis of tension pneumothorax.

El tratamiento de los lactantes con quistes pulmonares congénitos conlleva una resección quirúrgica. Las variaciones en la ubicación y el tamaño del quiste de aire en el pulmón afectado implican la selección de diferentes estrategias quirúrgicas. La presencia de quistes pulmonares congénitos gigantes que imitan un neumotórax a tensión no permitiría tomar una decisión precisa y realizar un tratamiento oportuno durante una emergencia respiratoria. Los escasos informes sobre este tipo de experiencia hacen referencia a quistes a tensión durante la niñez. En este artículo, presentamos el caso de un niño con un quiste pulmonar congénito gigante que imita neumotórax a tensión según las manifestaciones clínicas y las evaluaciones del diagnóstico por imágenes. La descompresión instantánea del neumotórax a tensión no logró aliviar la dificultad respiratoria del niño. En los niños que presentan evidencia clínica de neumotórax a tensión, se debe excluir la posibilidad de un quiste pulmonar congénito gigante.

Not much is known about the roles of long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) for chronic kidney disease (CKD). In this study, we included CKD patient cohorts and normal controls as a discovery cohort to identify putative lncRNA biomarkers associated with CKD. We first compared the lncRNA expression profiles of CKD patients with normal controls, and identified differentially expressed lncRNAs and mRNAs. Co-expression network based on the enriched differentially expressed mRNAs and lncRNAs was constructed using WGCNA to identify important modules related to CKD. A lncRNA-miRNA-mRNA pathway network based on the hub lncRNAs and mRNAs, related miRNAs, and overlapping pathways was further constructed to reveal putative biomarkers. A total of 821 significantly differentially expressed mRNAs and lncRNAs were screened between CKD and control samples, which were enriched in nine modules using weighted correlation network analysis (WGCNA), especially brown and yellow modules. Co-expression network based on the enriched differentially expressed mRNAs and lncRNAs in brown and yellow modules uncovered 7 hub lncRNAs and 53 hub mRNAs. A lncRNA-miRNA-mRNA pathway network further revealed that lncRNAs of HCP5 and NOP14-AS1 and genes of CCND2, COL3A1, COL4A1, and RAC2 were significantly correlated with CKD. The lncRNAs of NOP14-AS1 and HCP5 were potential prognostic biomarkers for predicting the risk of CKD.

The pitting corrosion of three duplex steels (DSS), SAF2205, SAF2507, Z3CN20.09M thermally aged at 350 - 500 ℃ for 5500 h was investigated by the means of electrochemical techniques. The pitting potential (Ep) of thermally aged Z3CN20.09M specimens decreased with increasing of ageing temperature, however, the Ep of SAF2205 and SAF2507 thermally aged specimens decreased first and reached the lowest value at 450 ℃ and then increased slightly. The electrochemical impedance spectroscopy results are coincident with the potentiodynamic polarisation testing results. The variation in the charge transfer resistance of specimens coincided with the Ep values. There is little influence of low temperature (below 350 ℃) on resistance to pitting of SAF2205 and SAF2507 DSS. But, the pitting resistance of them degrades drastically ageing at higher temperature above 450 ℃. The deterioration in pitting resistance of thermally aged DSS specimens mainly attributes to the precipitation of Cr-rich α′ phases which affected by temperature markedly. At the range of 350 -500 ℃, the temperature the higher, the precipitation of Cr-rich α′ phases the more. The formation of G phases and the healing process during the long thermal ageing at 500 ℃ is the other reasons for the change in pitting resistance.

Abstract Purpose: To investigate the effect of mesenteric lymph drainage on the spleen injury and the expressions of inflammatory cytokines in splenic tissue in mice following hemorrhagic shock. Methods: Male C57 mice were randomly divided into the sham shock, shock and shock+drainage groups. The mice in both shock and shock+drainage groups suffered femoral artery bleeding, maintained mean arterial pressure (MAP) of 40±2 mmHg for 90 min, and were resuscitated. And mesenteric lymph drainage was performed in the shock+drainage group at the time of resuscitation. After three hours of resuscitation, the splenic tissues were harvested for the histological observation and protein and mRNA expression analysis of cytokines. Results: The spleen in the shock group revealed a significantly structural damage and increased mRNA expressions of MyD88 and TRAF6 and protein expressions of TIPE2, MyD88, TRIF and TRAF3 compared to the sham group. By contrast, the splenic pathological injury in the shock+drainage group was alleviated significantly, and the mRNA and protein expressions of TIPE2, MyD88, TRIF, TRAF3 and TRAF6 were significantly lower than those in the shock group. Conclusion: These results indicate that post-hemorrhagic shock mesenteric lymph drainage alleviates hemorrhagic shock-induced spleen injury and the expressions of inflammatory cytokines.

MicroRNAs (miRNAs), as post-transcriptional regulators, have been reported to be involved in the initiation and progression of various types of cancer, including gastric cancer (GC). The present study aimed to investigate the role of miR-383-5p in gastric carcinogenesis. Cell viability was analyzed using CCK-8 kit. Annexin V-fluorescein isothiocyanate/propidium iodide double staining was used to evaluate cell apoptosis. The expression levels of miR-383-5p and histone deacetylase 9 (HDAC9) mRNA in GC tissues and cell lines were analyzed using RT-qPCR. The protein expression of HDAC9 was detected by western blotting. We found that HDAC9 was up-regulated and miR-383-5p was down-regulated in GC tissues and cell lines. High HDAC9 expression or low miR-383-5p expression was closely related to poor prognosis and metastasis in GC patients. HDAC9 knockout or miR-383-5p mimics led to growth inhibition and increased apoptosis in AGS and SGC-7901 cells. More importantly, we validated that miR-383-5p as a post-transcriptional regulator inhibited HDAC9 expression and was inversely correlated with HDAC9 expression in GC tissues. miR-383-5p had the opposite effects to HDAC9 in gastric carcinogenesis. miR-383-5p played an important role in gastric carcinogenesis, and it is one of the important mechanisms to regulate oncogenic HDAC9 in GC, which might be helpful in the development of novel therapeutic strategies for the treatment of GC.

ABSTRACT Different light and shade intensities are the main constraints to achieve potential biomass accumulation in Leymus chinensis (Trin.) Tzvelev. An experiment was conducted to explain the physiochemical and morphological adversity triggered by various light intensities. Adverse impacts were lessened with exogenous brassinolide (BR). Treatments consisted of 100% natural light (T0), 100% natural light + 0.1 mg L-1 BR (BT0), light shade (70% natural light) (T1), light shade + BR (70% natural light + 0.1 mg L-1 BR) (BT1), moderate shade (50% natural light) (T2), and moderate shade + BR (50% natural light + 0.1 mg L-1 BR) (BT2). These were completely randomized design treatments with five replicates. Results showed that dry biomass production and endogenous hormone levels (abscisic acid [ABA], zeatin riboside [ZR], gibberellic acid [GA], and indole acetic acid [IAA]) increased, while osmolyte accumulation (soluble sugars and proteins, free amino acids, and proline), antioxidant activity (peroxidase [POD], superoxide dismutase [SOD], and catalase [CAT]), and lipid peroxidation decreased under shade at T0. Treatment T1 depicted the most promising results for these attributes. However, biomass accumulation (33%-56%), osmotic substances (soluble sugars,13%-38%; soluble proteins, 9%-41%; free amino acids, 8%-16%; proline, 11%-41%), and antioxidant enzyme activities (POD, 11%-14%; SOD, 3%-33%; CAT, 4%-23%) increased. On the other hand, lipid peroxidation was reduced by BR application, as indicated by decreased malondialdehyde (MDA) content (7%-31%) and relative conductivity (7%-19%) under both natural and shade conditions. Likewise, the biosynthesis of ABA (2%-22%), ZR (11%-24%), and GA (30%-50%) improved under exogenous BR compared with the control. The IAA contents (22%-28%) decreased under foliar-applied BR compared with the control. Results suggested that light to moderate shade improved the biomass production and physiological performance of L. chinensis, while BR application exhibited further improvement

Summary Objective: The aim of this study was to assess the efficacy and safety of ceftazidime-avibactam in the treatment of complicated intra-abdominal infections (CIAIs) and complicated urinary tract infections (CUTIs) with meta-analysis method. Method: We included six randomized clinical trials identified from Medline, Embase, Cochrane Library, “ISRCTN Register” and “ClinicalTrials.gov” which compared ceftazidime-avibactam with comparison group. The meta-analysis was performed using Review Manager software version 5.3. Results: Ceftazidime-avibactam versus active comparisons demonstrated a statistically significant higher rate of microbiological response success on microbiological evaluable populations at the test-of-cure visit (95CI 1.10-2.38, p=0.02) and late-follow-up visit (95CI 1.09-2.23, p=0.02) for the treatment of CUTIs. Ceftazidime-avibactam versus active comparisons demonstrated a statistically significant higher rate of microbiological response success on EME populations at the test-of-cure visit (95CI 1.08-4.27, p=0.03) and late-follow-up visit (OR=1.75, 95CI 1.33-2.29, p<0.0001) for the treatment of CUTIs. Similar results were obtained at the late-follow-up visit (OR = 1.58, 95CI 1.26-1.97, p<0.0001) on microbiologically modified intent-to-treat (mMITT) populations for the treatment of CUTIs. We can find better eradication rates for E. coli and Klebsiella pneumoniae based on mMITT populations. In terms of AEs, SAEs and mortality, ceftazidime-avibactam had a safety and tolerability profile broadly similar to the comparison group. Conclusion: This meta-analysis provides evidence of the efficacy of ceftazidime-avibactam as a potential alternative for the treatment of patients with CUTIs, and CIAIs.

The effect of ferrite phase on the precipitation of σ phase in a Z3CN20.09M cast austenitic stainless steel (CASS) used for primary coolant pipes of pressurized water reactor (PWR) nuclear power plants was investigated by using isothermal heat-treatment, optical microscopy (OM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and electron probe microanalysis (EPMA) techniques. The influence of different morphologies and volume fractions of ferrite in the σ phase formation mechanism was discussed. The amount of σ phase precipitated in all specimens with different microstructures increased with increasing of aging time, however, the precipitation rate is significant different. The formation of σ phase in specimens with the coarsest ferrite and the dispersively smallest ferrite is slowest. The lowest level Cr content in ferrite and fewest α/γ interfaces in specimen are the main reasons for the slowest σ precipitation due to they are unfavorable for the kinetics and thermodynamics of phase transformation respectively. By contraries, the fastest formation of σ phase takes place in specimens with narrow and long ferrite due to the most α/γ interfaces and higher Cr content in ferrite which are beneficial for preferential nucleation and formation thermodynamics of σ phase.
