RESUMO Objetivo: apresentar um protocolo de revisão de escopo destinado a identificar e analisar os aplicativos gratuitos disponíveis nos sistemas operacionais Android e iOS para o auxílio de nutrizes acerca da amamentação. Métodos: a estrutura metodológica desta revisão de escopo incluiu nove etapas: elaboração da pergunta norteadora; definição dos descritores; definição dos critérios para inclusão e exclusão de aplicativos; localização de aplicativos; listagem dos aplicativos; seleção por análise de título e ícone; levantamento dos dados dos aplicativos; seleção pela análise dos dados dos aplicativos e avaliação de qualidade. A pergunta de pesquisa foi guiada pela estratégia participantes-conceito-contexto. A localização dos aplicativos móveis para apoio ao aleitamento será realizada nas lojas Google Play Store e App Store. As etapas de seleção, levantamento dos dados e avaliação da qualidade serão realizadas por dois avaliadores independentes. A avaliação da qualidade será realizada utilizando a Mobile App Rating Scale e correlacionada com as classificações dos usuários. Considerações Finais: a presente pesquisa apresentou um protocolo de revisão de escopo destinado a identificar e analisar os aplicativos gratuitos disponíveis nos sistemas operacionais Android e iOS para o auxílio de nutrizes acerca da amamentação, pautado em nove etapas. O protocolo está pronto para ser implementado.

ABSTRACT Purpose: to present a scoping review protocol to identify and analyze free applications available for Android and iOS operating systems to assist nursing mothers in terms of breastfeeding. Methods: the methodological structure of this scoping review has nine stages: developing the research question; defining descriptors; establishing application inclusion and exclusion criteria; locating applications; listing applications; selecting them by title and icon analysis; collecting application data; selecting them by application data analysis and quality assessment. The research question was developed based on the participants-concept-context strategy. Breastfeeding mobile applications assistance will be searched in Google Play and Apple Store. Two independent raters will select applications, collect data, and assess their quality. Quality assessment will use the Mobile App Rating Scale, which will be correlated with user ratings. Final Considerations: this research presented a nine-stage scoping review protocol aimed at identifying and analyzing free applications available for Android and iOS operating systems to help nursing mothers in terms of breastfeeding. The protocol is ready to be implemented.

Abstract Objectives: To analyze breathing modes with infrared thermography. Methods: Cross-sectional observational exploratory study conducted in 20 female participants with a mean age of 26.0-years. The thermograms were made following the principles of the American Academy of Thermology and the Brazilian Thermology Society. The camera FLIR A315 (FLIR Inc., Santa Barbara, CA) was used for the tests. The recordings consisted of the participants breathing normally through the nose for 2 min and simulating oral/oronasal breathing for another 2min. The thermograms were analyzed with the FLIR Tools software. An ellipse was placed between the nostrils and the lip commissures to obtain the mean temperatures. The collection was made by two independent researchers, and the normalized non-dimensional temperature was calculated. Results: The temperature in nasal breathing is higher than in oral/oronasal breathing both for inhaling and exhaling when measured in the region of the mouth. The exhaling temperatures were higher than the inhaling ones in oral/oronasal breathing (through the nose and the mouth) and nasal breathing (only through the nose). The temperature difference between exhaling and inhaling (ΔT) was greater in oral/oronasal breathing when measured in the region of the mouth. Conclusion: The thermographic assessment of breathing modes may be made by comparing the mean temperatures of the mouth, using an ellipse. Level of evidence: Study without consistently applied reference standards.

RESUMO Objetivo Verificar os efeitos imediatos da fotobiomodulação sobre a pressão máxima dos lábios para diferentes doses. Método Estudo experimental, randomizado e triplo cego. A amostra foi composta por 23 mulheres e 17 homens com idade entre 18 e 33 anos (média 23,18 anos, DP=2,1), divididos em quatro grupos: GC (grupo controle), G1, G4 e G7. A pressão máxima foi avaliada com o Iowa Oral Performance Instrument (IOPI). O bulbo foi posicionado entre os lábios e os participantes foram orientados a pressioná-lo com a maior força possível. Aplicou-se o LASER infravermelho (808 nm) da marca DMC, modelo Therapy EC, 100 mW de potência. As doses testadas foram 1 J (G1), 4 J (G4) e 7 J (G7) aplicadas em seis pontos do músculo orbicular da boca. No GC não houve intervenção. Após a aplicação do LASER, foram repetidos os procedimentos de avaliação. Os resultados foram analisados com nível de significância de 95%. Resultados A pressão máxima de lábios aumentou significativamente apenas no grupo irradiado com 7 joules. Conclusão O LASER de baixa intensidade na dose de 7 J promoveu mudanças no desempenho do músculo orbicular da boca em tarefa de pressão máxima.

ABSTRACT Purpose To verify the immediate effects of different doses of photobiomodulation on maximum lip pressure. Methods Experimental, randomized and triple-blind study. The sample consisted of 23 women and 17 men, age between 18 and 33 years old (average 23.18 years old, SD=2.1), distributed in four groups: CG (control group), G1, G4 and G7. The maximum pressure was assessed with the Iowa Oral Performance Instrument (IOPI). The bulb was placed between the lips and the participants were instructed to press it as strong as possible. Infrared LASER (808 nm), manufactured by DMC, Therapy EC model, 100 mW of power output, was applied. The doses tested were 1 J (G1), 4 J (G4) and 7 J (G7), applied at six points of the orbicularis oris muscle. In the CG there was no intervention. The evaluation procedures were repeated after the LASER application. The results were analyzed with a significance level of 95%. Results The maximum lip pressure increased significantly only in the group irradiated with 7 J. Conclusion Low level LASER therapy with 7 J dose promoted changes in the performance of the orbicularis oris muscle in the maximum pressure task.

RESUMO Objetivo comparar os efeitos imediatos da fotobiomodulação com laser nos comprimentos de onda 660 nm e 808 nm na fadiga do músculo orbicular da boca. Métodos trata-se de um estudo experimental randomizado, com 60 mulheres, com idade entre 19 e 43 anos. As participantes foram divididas em quatro grupos. O grupo GV recebeu irradiação com laser de comprimento de onda de 660 nm em quatro pontos do orbicular da boca; o grupo GIV recebeu irradiação com laser de comprimento de onda de 808 nm nos mesmos pontos; o grupo controle não recebeu irradiação e o grupo placebo passou pelos mesmos procedimentos dos grupos GV e GIV, porém o equipamento não foi acionado. A irradiação foi realizada com laser de 100 mW de potência, 4 J de energia por ponto e 133,3 J/cm2 de fluência. Avaliação eletromiográfica foi realizada antes e após a irradiação, concomitantemente ao exercício de protrusão labial sustentada até a sensação de fadiga. O índice de fadiga eletromiográfica foi calculado a partir da frequência mediana. A amplitude do sinal foi avaliada, examinando o RMS, e os valores normalizados pelo pico. A diferença na amplitude entre lábios superiores e inferiores também foi analisada. Todas as variáveis foram comparadas antes e após a irradiação. Resultados não foram encontradas diferenças significativas nas medidas antes e após a irradiação. Conclusão a fotobiomodulação, com os parâmetros investigados neste estudo, não resultou em efeitos imediatos sobre a fadiga do músculo orbicular da boca.

ABSTRACT Purpose To compare the immediate effects of laser photobiomodulation at wavelengths of 660 nm and 808 nm on fatigue of the orbicularis oris. Methods This is a randomized study with 60 women aged between 19 and 43 years. The participants were divided into four groups. Group RG received photobiomodulation with a laser wavelength of 660 nm at four points of the orbicularis oris; group IRG received photobiomodulation with a laser wavelength of 808 nm at the same points; the control group did not receive light treatment; and the placebo group underwent the same procedures as RG and IRG but with the equipment switched off. The irradiation was performed with a laser of 100 mW of power, 4 J of energy per point and 133.3 J/cm2 of fluency. An electromyography evaluation was performed before and after the irradiation, concomitantly with the exercise of lip protrusion maintained until the sensation of fatigue. Fatigue was evaluated by a median frequency using the electromyographic fatigue index. The amplitude of the signal was evaluated, examining the root mean square, and the values were normalized by the peak. The difference in amplitude between the upper and lower lips was also analyzed. All variables were compared before and after irradiation. Results No significant difference was found between the measures taken before and after irradiation. Conclusion Photobiomodulation with the parameters investigated in this study had no immediate effect on orbicular oris fatigue.

RESUMO Objetivos Verificar o efeito da aplicação da bandagem elástica sobre músculos mastigatórios no alívio da dor, em comparação com outras intervenções, em indivíduos com disfunções temporomandibulares. Estratégia de pesquisa Busca nas bases de dados LILACS, IBECS, CINAHL, Scopus, Web of Science, Cochrane, Embase e MEDLINE. A pergunta norteadora, utilizando-se os elementos da estratégia PICOT (população, intervenção, comparador, outcome/desfecho, tipo de estudo) foi: “A bandagem elástica promove alívio da dor em indivíduos com disfunção temporomandibular?”. Critérios de seleção Foram incluídos ensaios clínicos que fizeram uso da bandagem elástica em músculos mastigatórios de indivíduos com disfunção temporomandibular, publicados em português, inglês ou espanhol. Foram excluídos os artigos que não abordavam o método de aplicação e o desfecho “intensidade da dor”. A avaliação da elegibilidade foi realizada pela leitura dos títulos e resumos, bem como pela leitura dos estudos na íntegra. Foram extraídas informações sobre ano de publicação, país de condução do estudo, idade e condição clínica da amostra, tratamento e resultados da avaliação da dor. Na metanálise, realizada por meio do método do inverso da variância, a média do valor indicado na escala visual analógica foi considerada como medida de efeito da intervenção. Resultados Foram localizadas, inicialmente, 344 referências, das quais, 3 foram selecionadas. Foram identificados resultados significativamente superiores na redução da dor, em uma semana de uso da bandagem, na comparação com outras abordagens conservadoras analisadas. Conclusão Considerando os artigos incluídos, a bandagem elástica apresentou resultados significativos para maior redução da dor na primeira semana. Porém, o número reduzido de estudos e a presença de vieses limitam os achados.

ABSTRACT Purpose To verify the effects on pain relief by applying kinesiology tape on the masticatory muscles, in comparison with other interventions, in people with temporomandibular disorders. Research strategy Search in LILACS, IBECS, CINAHL, Scopus, Web of Science, Cochrane, EMBASE, and MEDLINE. The research question, based on the PICOT components, was: “Does kinesiology tape applied on to masticatory muscles relieve the pain in people with temporomandibular disorders?”. Selection criteria The included articles were clinical trials using kinesiology tape on masticatory muscles in people with temporomandibular disorders, published in Portuguese, English, or Spanish. Articles whose authors had not adopted this application method and pain intensity as an outcome were excluded. Eligibility was assessed by reading their titles, abstracts, and full texts. The following information was extracted: year of publication, the country where the study was conducted, age and clinical condition of the sample, treatment, and pain assessment results. The meta-analysis, using the inverse variance method, considered the mean value indicated in the visual analog scale as the intervention effect measure. Results Initially, 344 references were retrieved, of which three were selected. Significantly better pain relief results were identified after 1 week of using the tape, in comparison with the other conservative approaches analyzed. Conclusion Considering the included articles, the kinesiology tape had significant results with greater pain relief in the first week. However, small number of studies and their biases limit the findings.

RESUMO Objetivo: verificar na literatura os efeitos da placa palatina de memória na postura de lábios e língua de crianças com Trissomia do 21. Métodos: foi realizada busca nas bases de dados Medline, Lilacs, CINAHL, Embase, Scopus, Web of Science e Cochrane, com inclusão de artigos originais com delineamentos dos tipos ensaios clínicos, estudos longitudinais ou caso-controle, que abordaram a placa palatina de memória no tratamento de crianças com Trissomia do 21 e avaliaram, como desfechos, a postura habitual de língua e de lábios. Revisão da Literatura: foram encontrados 376 estudos, dos quais dez contemplaram os critérios de seleção. Estes foram publicados entre 1996 e 2007, conduzidos principalmente na Europa, com amostras reduzidas. A idade de instalação da placa variou de um mês a cinco anos e a duração da intervenção de quatro a 58 meses, estando, na maioria, associada à estimulação da musculatura orofacial. A frequência de uso variou de dois a quatro períodos diários de 30 minutos a duas horas. Houve melhora na postura de língua e lábios das crianças na maioria das pesquisas. Conclusão: os estudos sugerem que a placa palatina de memória, associada à estimulação da musculatura orofacial, proporciona benefícios para postura de lábios e língua de crianças com Trissomia do 21.

ABSTRACT Purpose: to verify, in the literature, the effects of using the stimulating palatal plate on lip and tongue posture in children with trisomy 21. Methods: a search was conducted in Medline, LILACS, CINAHL, EMBASE, Scopus, Web of Science, and Cochrane. Original articles designed as clinical trials, longitudinal studies, or case-control studies, approaching stimulating palatal plate in the treatment of children with trisomy 21 and assessing habitual lip and tongue posture as an outcome, were included. Literature Review: a total of 376 studies were found, of which 10 met the selection criteria. They were published between 1996 and 2007 and carried out mostly in Europe, with small samples. The age when they began wearing the plate ranged from 1 month to 5 years, and intervention lasted from 4 to 58 months; in most cases, it was combined with orofacial muscle stimulation. Use frequency ranged from two to four times a day, each period lasting from 30 minutes to 2 hours. The children’s tongue and lip posture improved in most pieces of research. Conclusion: studies suggest that using the stimulating palatal plate in combination with orofacial muscle stimulation brings benefits to tongue and lip posture in children presented with trisomy 21.

RESUMO Objetivo: verificar os efeitos do exercício de pressão de língua contra a papila incisiva, realizado de forma isolada e associada ao treino funcional da deglutição, na atividade elétrica da musculatura supra-hioidea e na autopercepção da mudança estética na região submandibular. Métodos: estudo experimental, analítico e prospectivo, realizado com 27 mulheres entre 30 e 78 anos, divididas em dois grupos de tratamento (G1 e G2) e um grupo controle (GC). Os indivíduos foram submetidos a oito semanas de treinamento, sendo que o G1 realizou somente o exercício pressão de língua contra a papila incisiva, o G2 realizou o mesmo exercício associado ao treino da deglutição e o GC não foi submetido a qualquer intervenção. A atividade elétrica da musculatura supra-hioidea foi obtida por meio da eletromiografia de superfície no início e ao final do estudo, quando também foi aplicado um questionário de autopercepção dos possíveis resultados estéticos obtidos. Foram utilizados os testes Qui-quadrado de Pearson, Exato de Fisher, Mann Whitney, Kruskal Wallis e Wilcoxon, com nível de significância de 5%. Resultados: foram encontradas diferenças estatisticamente significativas na atividade elétrica entre os valores inicial e final tanto no G1 quanto no G2, fato não observado no GC. Não houve diferença significativa entre os grupos em relação à autopercepção da melhora visual e da melhora muscular. Conclusão: as duas estratégias analisadas mostraram-se igualmente eficazes para promover o maior recrutamento da musculatura supra-hioidea, porém, sem impacto na autopercepção da mudança estética na região submandibular.

ABSTRACT Purpose: to verify the effects of tongue pressure exercises against the incisive papilla, used both alone and in combination with functional swallowing training, on the electrical activity of the suprahyoid muscles and the self-perception of aesthetic changes in the submandibular region. Chi-square, Fisher’s exact, Mann-Whitney, Kruskal Wallis, and Wilcoxon tests were used. The significance level was set at 5%. Methods: an experimental, analytical, prospective study on 27 women, aged 30 to 78 years, divided into two treatment groups (G1 and G2), and a control group (CG). Individuals were submitted to 8 weeks of training, in which G1 performed only tongue pressure exercises against the incisive papilla, and G2 performed the same exercises in combination with swallowing training, while CG was not submitted to any intervention. The suprahyoid muscle electrical activity was obtained with surface electromyography at the beginning and end of the study when subjects also answered a self-perception questionnaire on possible aesthetic results. Pearson’s chi-square, Fisher’s exact, Mann-Whitney, Kruskal Wallis, and Wilcoxon tests were used. The significance level was set at 5%. Results: statistically significant differences were found between the initial and final electrical activity in both G1 and G2, which was not found in CG. There was no significant difference between the groups regarding their self-perception of visual or muscle improvements. Conclusion: both strategies analyzed were equally effective to increase suprahyoid muscle recruitment, though with no impact on the self-perception of aesthetic changes in the submandibular region.

RESUMO Objetivo identificar e sintetizar evidências sobre estratégias utilizadas no treino da mastigação e deglutição em indivíduos com disfunção temporomandibular e dor orofacial. Estratégia de pesquisa revisão de escopo desenvolvida com consulta nas bases de dados MEDLINE, LILACS, BBO, IBECS, BINACIS, CUMED, SOF, DeCS, Index Psi, LIPECS e ColecionaSUS (via BVS), Scopus, CINAHL, Embase, Web of Science, Cochrane e na literatura cinzenta: Biblioteca Digital Brasileira de Teses e Dissertações (BDTD), OpenGrey e Google Acadêmico. Critérios de seleção estudos quantitativos ou qualitativos, sem limite temporal e sem restrição de idioma, que continham os seguintes descritores ou palavras-chave: Articulação Temporomandibular, Síndrome da Disfunção da Articulação Temporomandibular, Transtornos da Articulação Temporomandibular, Dor Facial, Mastigação, Deglutição, Terapêutica, Terapia Miofuncional e Fonoaudiologia. Na primeira etapa, dois revisores fizeram a triagem independente dos estudos, por meio da leitura dos títulos e resumos. Na segunda etapa, os revisores leram, independentemente, os documentos pré-selecionados na íntegra. Em caso de divergência, um terceiro pesquisador foi consultado. Resultados as 11 publicações incluídas foram publicadas entre 2000 e 2018. As estratégias mais utilizadas foram o treino da mastigação bilateral simultânea, seguido da mastigação bilateral alternada. Na deglutição, foi proposto aumento do tempo mastigatório para reduzir o alimento em partículas menores e lubrificar melhor o bolo alimentar e treinos com apoio superior de língua. Conclusão o treinamento funcional demonstrou efetividade na reabilitação dos pacientes, embora não siga uma padronização e não seja realizado de forma isolada. Os estudos encontrados apresentam baixo nível de evidência. Considera-se fundamental a realização de estudos mais abrangentes e padronizados, como ensaios clínicos randomizados.

ABSTRACT Purpose To identify and synthesize evidence on strategies used to train chewing and swallowing in individuals with temporomandibular disorder and orofacial pain. Research strategy Scoping review conducted by search in MEDLINE, LILACS, BBO, IBECS, BINACIS, CUMED, SOF, DeCS, Index Psi, LIPECS, and ColecionaSUS (via VHL), Scopus, CINAHL, Embase, Web of Science, Cochrane, and the grey literature: Brazilian Digital Theses and Dissertations Library (BDTD), OpenGrey, and Google Scholar. Selection criteria Quantitative or qualitative studies, with no restriction on time or language of publication, with the following descriptors or keywords: Temporomandibular Joint; Temporomandibular Joint Dysfunction Syndrome; Temporomandibular Joint Disorders; Facial Pain; chewing (Mastication); swallowing (Deglutition); Therapeutics; Myofunctional Therapy; Speech, Language and Hearing Sciences. In the first stage, two reviewers independently screened the studies by title and abstract reading. In the second stage, the reviewers independently read the preselected documents in full text. In case of divergences, a third researcher was consulted. Results The 11 documents included in the review were published between 2000 and 2018. The mostly used training strategies were simultaneous bilateral mastication/chewing, followed by alternating bilateral mastication. In swallowing, increased mastication time was proposed to break food into smaller bits and better lubricate the bolus; training with upper tongue support was also indicated. Conclusion Functional training proved to be effective in rehabilitation, although it was not standardized or performed alone. The studies had low levels of evidence. It is essential to conduct more encompassing and standardized studies, such as randomized clinical trials.

RESUMO Objetivo: analisar a validade de conteúdo e de constructo do instrumento de avaliação do desempenho da língua em atividades associadas a jogos digitais. Métodos: para análise de conteúdo, dez fonoaudiólogos responderam um questionário em que cada item do intrumento e o conjunto de itens foram julgados quanto à sua representatividade. Foram calculados o índice de validade de conteúdo e a estatística kappa modificada. Para analisar a validade de constructo, 20 participantes, entre 8 e 13 anos (10 com força de língua adequada e 10 com alteração de força) realizaram uma atividade de jogo com o T-Station, com 12 alvos, 2 N de força e 5 s de sustentação da contração para cada alvo. O desempenho em cada item do instrumento foi comparado entre os grupos. Resultados: a maioria dos itens obteve pontuação satisfatória na avaliação dos fonoaudiólogos. Um item foi removido do instrumento. Os participantes com força da língua reduzida apresentaram pior desempenho do que os com força normal, com diferença estatistica para três itens do instrumento. Conclusão: o instrumento mostrou-se válido como método de avaliação do desempenho nas atividades associadas ao T-Station.

ABSTRACT Purpose: to analyze the content and construct validity of an instrument for tongue performance assessment in activities associated with digital games. Methods: to analyze content validity, ten speech-language pathologists answered a questionnaire in which each item of the instrument and the set of items were judged as to its representativeness. The content validity index and the modified Kappa statistics were calculated. To analyze construct validity, 20 participants, with age between 8 and 13 years, (10 children with weak tongues and 10 children with normal tongue strength) performed a game activity with the T-Station, involving 12 targets with 2 N of strength and 5 s of time for sustained contraction for each target. The performance was compared, for each item of the instrument, between groups. Results: most of the items obtained satisfactory score according to the speech-language pathologist’s evaluation. Children with reduced tongue force had a poorer performance than those with normal tongue force, with a statistically significant difference in three items of the instrument. Conclusion: the instrument proved to be valid as a method for evaluating performance in activities associated with the T-Station.

RESUMO Objetivo Avaliar as modificações acústicas e de autopercepção obtidas após o primeiro, terceiro, quinto e sétimo minuto de prática da técnica de oscilação oral de alta frequência sonorizada, realizada com o dispositivo Shaker®. Método Participaram do estudo 27 mulheres com idade entre 18 e 41 anos com e sem queixa vocal. A vogal sustentada /ε/ foi registrada em tempo máximo de fonação antes (pré-exercício) e após o primeiro, terceiro, quinto e o sétimo minuto de execução da técnica de oscilação oral de alta frequência sonorizada com o dispositivo Shaker®. Foi realizada a análise acústica dos seguintes parâmetros: ruído, frequência fundamental, glottal to noise excitation, Jitter, Shimmer e número de harmônicos. Resultados Não houve diferenças significativas na comparação dos parâmetros acústicos entre as participantes com e sem sintomas vocais. Observou-se melhora na autopercepção do desconforto vocal nos grupos das mulheres com e sem sintomas vocais, comparando-se o momento antes da prática com o primeiro e terceiro minutos de prática. Houve redução dos valores de Jitter, ao comparar o momento antes da prática com os momentos após um e sete minutos e ao comparar os momentos após cinco e sete minutos de exercício, no grupo de mulheres com sintomas vocais. Conclusão A técnica com o Shaker® mostrou resultados positivos, tanto em indivíduos com sintomas quanto em indivíduos sem sintomas vocais.

ABSTRACT Purpose To evaluate the acoustic and self-perception modifications obtained after the first, third, fifth and seventh minutes of voice oral high-frequency oscillation practice accomplished with the Shaker® device. Methodology Twenty-seven women aged between 18 and 41 years with and without vocal complaint participated in the study. The sustained vowel / ε / was recorded at maximum phonation time before (pre-exercise) and after the first, third, fifth and seventh minutes of voice oral high-frequency oscillation practice accomplished with Shaker®. The acoustic analysis of the following parameters was performed: noise, fundamental frequency, glottal to noise excitation, Jitter, Shimmer and number of harmonics. Results There were no significant differences in the comparison of the acoustic parameters between the participants with and without vocal symptoms. It was observed an improvement in the self-perception of vocal discomfort in the groups of women with and without vocal symptoms, comparing the moment before the practice with the first and third minutes of practice. There was a reduction in Jitter values when comparing the time before practice with the moments after one and seven minutes and when comparing the moments after five and seven minutes of exercise in the group of women with vocal symptoms. Conclusion The Shaker® technique showed positive results both in individuals with symptoms and in individuals without vocal symptoms.

RESUMO Objetivo pesquisar a atividade elétrica do músculo orbicular da boca em quatro diferentes tarefas isométricas e indicar a mais apropriada para utilização como referência na normalização do sinal elétrico do músculo orbicular da boca pela contração voluntária máxima. Métodos participaram do estudo 22 indivíduos, sendo dez do sexo masculino e 12 do feminino, com idades entre 20 e 33 anos. A atividade elétrica das porções superior e inferior do músculo orbicular da boca foi registrada durante a realização das seguintes tarefas isométricas: protrusão labial com fechamento, protrusão labial sem fechamento, contrarresistência com a placa de resistência labial e preensão de lábios. A ordem de realização das tarefas foi randomizada entre os participantes. Os dados foram comparados entre as tarefas, para cada seguimento labial. Resultados no segmento marginal superior, a tarefa com maior média e mediana de amplitude foi preensão labial, embora sem diferença significativa entre tarefas. O menor coeficiente de variação foi obtido na tarefa de contrarresistência com a placa de resistência labial. No segmento marginal inferior, a tarefa com maior média e mediana de amplitude foi protrusão labial com fechamento, que também teve o menor coeficiente de variação e diferença significativa entre as tarefas protrusão labial com fechamento e preensão, sendo os maiores valores obtidos na primeira. Conclusão indica-se como referência para a normalização do sinal elétrico do músculo orbicular da boca, pela contração voluntária máxima, a tarefa de protrusão labial com fechamento.

ABSTRACT Purpose To verify the electrical activity of the orbicularis oris in four different isometric tasks and to indicate the most appropriate task for use as a reference in the normalization of the electrical signal of the orbicularis oris muscle by maximum voluntary contraction. Methods Twenty-two individuals participated in the study, of which 10 were male and 12 were female, with ages ranging from 20 to 33 years. The electrical activity of the upper and lower parts of orbicularis oris muscle was recorded during the following isometric tasks: lip protrusion with bilabial closure; lip protrusion without bilabial closure; the counter resistance using the plate of labial resistance and lips prehension. The order of the tasks was randomized among participants. Data were compared between tasks for each lip part. Results in the upper marginal segment, the task with the highest mean and median amplitude was lip prehension, although there was no significant difference between tasks. The lowest coefficient of variation was obtained in the counter resistance task with the plate of labial resistance. In the lower marginal segment, the task with the highest mean and median amplitude was labial protrusion with lips closure, which also had the lowest coefficient of variation. In this segment, there was a significant difference between labial protrusion with lips closure and prehension, with the highest values obtained in the first task. Conclusion lip protrusion with bilabial closure is suggested as reference for the normalization of the electrical signal of the orbicularis oris muscle, by maximum voluntary contraction.

RESUMO Objetivo: avaliar as modificações acústicas e na autopercepção da voz em mulheres com e sem sintomas vocais, após um, três, cinco e sete minutos da prática de fonação em canudo. Métodos: participaram do estudo 30 mulheres, com idades entre 18 e 39 anos, das quais 17 apresentavam sintomas vocais e 13 não apresentavam sintomas vocais. As participantes preencheram a Escala Visual Analógica sobre a autopercepção de desconforto vocal. Realizou-se a gravação da vogal /ɛ/ sustentada em tempo máximo de fonação antes da prática (m0) e após o primeiro, terceiro, quinto e sétimo minutos de execução do exercício de fonação em canudo. Foi obtida a medida de tempo máximo de fonação e realizada análise acústica. Os parâmetros acústicos analisados foram: número de harmônicos, frequência fundamental, ruído, glottal-to-noise excitation ratio (GNE), Jitter e Shimmer. Foram utilizados os testes de Friedman e Wilcoxon para comparar cada parâmetro nos diferentes momentos e o Teste de Mann-Whitney para comparação entre os grupos. Considerou-se o nível de 5% de significância nas análises. Resultados: não houve modificações nas variáveis acústicas ou na autopercepção da voz quando comparados os momentos pré e pós-exercício em ambos os grupos. Nas comparações entre os grupos, observou-se que o grupo com sintomas vocais apresentou menor GNE e maior ruído no segundo momento de execução da técnica. Conclusão: a fonação em canudo não proporcionou modificações acústicas ou na autopercepção da voz de mulheres com e sem sintomas vocais. Na comparação entre os grupos, as mulheres com sintomas apresentaram menor GNE e maior ruído do que as sem sintomas, após um minuto da prática de fonação em canudo.

ABSTRACT Purpose: to assess the acoustic and self-perceived voice changes in women with and without voice symptoms after 1, 3, 5, and 7 minutes of straw phonation exercises. Methods: a total of 30 women aged 18 to 39 years participated in the study - 17 with and 13 without voice symptoms. The participants filled in the visual analog scale on self-perceived voice discomfort. The sustained vowel /ɛ/ was recorded in maximum phonation time before (m0) and after the first, third, fifth, and seventh minute performing straw phonation exercises. The maximum phonation time was measured, and an acoustic analysis was made, encompassing the following parameters: the number of harmonics, fundamental frequency, noise, glottal-to-noise excitation ratio (GNE), jitter, and shimmer. The Friedman and Wilcoxon tests were used to compare each parameter at the different moments, and the Mann-Whitney test, to compare the groups. The 5% significance level was set for the analyses. Results: no changes were found in either the acoustic variables or the self-perception of voice comparing the moments before and after the exercises in either group. The comparison between the groups revealed that the one with voice symptoms had lower GNE and higher noise values at the second moment performing the technique. Conclusion: the straw phonation did not cause acoustic or self-perceived voice changes in women with and without voice symptoms. The comparison between the groups showed that the women with symptoms had lower GNE and higher noise values than those without symptoms, after 1 minute performing straw phonation.

RESUMO Objetivo Pesquisar a existência de associação entre os aspectos da avaliação clínica da língua. Métodos Estudo transversal observacional, com 80 crianças brasileiras, saudáveis, faixa etária entre 8 e 12 anos, sendo 36 (45%) do gênero masculino e 44 (55%) do gênero feminino. Foram avaliados aspectos da língua relacionados à morfologia, frênulo, mobilidade, praxias e força. Foram obtidas as associações entre os aspectos da avaliação clínica, considerando nível de significância de 5%. Resultados Houve associação entre largura e altura; entre extensão do frênulo e as provas de sugar a língua no palato, vibrar, protrair/retrair e tocar comissuras direita e esquerda e lábios superior e inferior e entre a fixação do frênulo no assoalho da boca e as provas de sugar a língua no palato e vibrar. A prova de estalar ápice de língua apresentou associação com estalar o corpo. Estalar a língua (ápice ou corpo) apresentou associação com sugar a língua no palato, vibrar, protrair/retrair, tocar comissuras direita e esquerda e lábios superior e inferior e força. A prova de sugar a língua no palato apresentou associação com vibrar, protrair/retrair, tocar comissuras direita e esquerda e lábios superior e inferior e força de língua e a prova de vibrar a língua, com protrair e retrair e força de língua. Também houve associação entre protrair e retrair e tocar comissuras direita e esquerda e lábios superior e inferior. Conclusão Os aspectos da língua na avaliação clínica apresentaram associações entre si.

ABSTRACT Purpose Investigate the possible association between myofunctional aspects of the tongue clinical evaluation. Methods Observational, cross-sectional study conducted with 80 healthy Brazilian schoolchildren aged 8-12 years: 36 (45%) males and 44 (55%) females. The following aspects of the tongue were assessed: morphology, frenulum, mobility, praxis, and force. Association between the aspects of clinical evaluation was obtained considering a statistical significance level of 5%. Results The following associations were observed: between tongue width and height; between frenulum length and the tasks of sucking the tongue on palate, tongue vibration, tongue protrusion/retraction, and touching right and left commissures and upper and lower lips; between frenulum attachment to the floor of the mouth and the tasks of sucking tongue on palate and tongue vibration. In the snap task, tongue apex snap was associated with tongue body snap. Tongue snap (apex or body) was associated with sucking the tongue on palate, tongue vibration, tongue protrusion/retraction, touching right and left commissures and upper and lower lips, and tongue force. Sucking tongue on palate was associated with tongue vibration, tongue protrusion/retraction, touching right and left commissures and upper and lower lips, and tongue force. Tongue vibration was associated with tongue protrusion/retraction and tongue force. Association was also observed between the tongue protrusion/retraction task and touching right and left commissures and upper and lower lips. Conclusion Association between tongue aspects was verified in the clinical evaluation.

RESUMO Objetivo Investigar, na literatura, as principais dificuldades encontradas no aleitamento materno de bebês com síndrome de Down, os fatores facilitadores e as estratégias utilizadas para melhorar a amamentação desses bebês. Métodos Foi realizada uma revisão sistemática nas bases de dados PubMed, SciELO e BVS. Os termos utilizados foram síndrome de Down e aleitamento materno e seus correspondentes em inglês e espanhol. Critérios de seleção: Foram incluídos artigos originais que abordaram o aleitamento materno na síndrome de Down, publicados em português, inglês ou espanhol, de janeiro de 1998 a dezembro de 2018. Foram consideradas informações referentes ao ano de publicação, país de realização da pesquisa, amostra, dificuldades percebidas na amamentação, fatores facilitadores, estratégias, metodologia e resultados. Resultados Foram encontradas 758 referências, das quais, seis contemplaram os critérios de seleção propostos. Estado emocional materno frente ao impacto da notícia, especificidades do bebê, dificuldades de sucção, internações frequentes e falta de apoio e conhecimento por parte dos profissionais de saúde foram aspectos que dificultaram a amamentação. Os principais fatores facilitadores citados foram experiência prévia e apoio familiar e profissional. Como estratégias diretas, foram apontadas a estabilização da cabeça e da mandíbula do bebê durante a mamada. As estratégias indiretas citadas relacionaram-se à capacitação profissional e intervenção multidisciplinar precoce. Conclusão Concluiu-se que as dificuldades na amamentação são provenientes da condição do bebê e da mãe. Experiência materna prévia e apoio familiar foram citados como facilitadores do aleitamento. As principais estratégias recomendadas foram indiretas e relacionadas com melhoria do sistema de saúde.

ABSTRACT Purpose To investigate in the literature the main difficulties related to breastfeeding in babies with Down syndrome, facilitating factors and indicated strategies. Methods A systematic review was accomplished on PubMed, Scielo and VHL databases. The following descriptors were used: Down Syndrome and Breastfeeding and their correspondents in Portuguese and Spanish. Selection criteria: Original articles that addressed breastfeeding in Down syndrome, published in Portuguese, English or Spanish, between 1998 and 2018, were included. The following information was considered: year of publication, country of the research, sample, difficulties perceived in breastfeeding, facilitating factors, strategies, methodology and results. Results 758 references were found, of which six contemplated the proposed selection criteria. Maternal emotional state due to the impact of the news, baby specificities, sucking difficulties, frequent hospitalizations and lack of support and knowledge on the part of health professionals were aspects that made breastfeeding difficult. The main facilitating factors cited were previous experience and family and professional support. As a direct strategy, stabilization of the baby's head and mandible during feeding was pointed out. The indirect strategies cited were related to professional training and early multidisciplinary intervention. Conclusion after analyzing the selected articles, it was concluded that breastfeeding difficulties in babies with Down Syndrome arise from the condition of the baby and the mother. Previous maternal experience and family support were cited as facilitators of breastfeeding. The main recommended strategies were indirect and related to the improvement of the health system.
