RESUMO: Alelopatia é definida como a capacidade que determinadas plantas e microrganismos têm de interferir no metabolismo de outras espécies, por meio de substâncias liberadas no ambiente, podendo ser uma alternativa de combate às plantas daninhas e doenças. Nesse contexto, este estudo teve por objetivos avaliar o potencial alelopático e identificar os grupos de metabólitos secundários de Paspalum maritimum Trind. As espécies Lactuca sativa, Digitaria insularis, Emilia coccinea e Portulaca oleracea foram utilizadas como plantas receptoras. Para avaliar o potencial alelopático, foram obtidos o extrato etanólico da parte aérea e radicular da espécie doadora. Os efeitos potencialmente alelopáticos foram avaliados por meio de testes de germinação, índice de velocidade de germinação e crescimento inicial de plântulas. Foi realizada também a análise fitoquímica do extrato, para identificar os metabólitos secundários. O extrato etanólico, de ambas as partes da planta, causaram efeito alelopático nas espécies receptoras. Foi detectada, na fração mais ativa da parte aérea de P. maritimum, a presença de taninos condensados, chalconas e auronas, flavononas, esteroides e saponinas.

ABSTRACT: Allelopathy is defined as the ability of certain plants and microorganisms to interfere with the metabolism of other species through substances released into the environment, being an alternative to control weeds and diseases. In this context, this study aimed to evaluate the allelopathic potential and identify groups of secondary metabolites of Paspalum maritimum Trind. The species Lactuca sativa, Digitaria insularis, Emilia coccinea, and Portulaca oleracea were used as recipient plants. The ethanolic extract was obtained from shoot and root of donor species to evaluate the allelopathic potential. Potentially allelopathic effects were evaluated by means of germination tests, germination speed index, and initial seedling growth. A phytochemical analysis of the extract was also performed to identify the secondary metabolites. The ethanolic extract from both plant parts had an allelopathic effect on recipient species. The presence of condensed tannins, chalcones and aurones, flavonones, steroids, and saponins were detected in the most active fraction of the shoot of P. maritimum.

This paper presents the experimental study of pressure and velocity fluctuations and their interdependence, in the turbulent flow impinging on arrangements of yawed circular cylinders simulating inclined tube banks with square arrangement and a pitch to diameter ratio of 1.26. Measurements were performed with hot-wires and a pressure transducer. Behaviour of fluctuating quantities is described by means of dimensionless autospectral density functions and cross correlations. Experimental results indicates the presence of two different phenomena of vortex generation in inclined tube banks.

Foi realizado um trabalho com o objetivo de estudar diferentes métodos de laboratório e de campo para a estimativa da área foliar de fruteiras silvestres, pertencentes à família Myrtaceae, a saber: uvalheira (Eugenia uvalha Camb.), aracazeiro (Psidium cattleyanum Sabine), goiabeira serrana (Feijoa sellowiana Berg.) e pitangueira (Eugenia uniflora DC). Entre os métodos de laboratório, também utilizados como "padrão", bons resultados foram obtidos utilizando-se um medidor automático de área foliar, planímetro ou através do método gravimétrico (fotocópia ou papel filtro). Dentre os métodos de campo, os melhores resultados foram obtidos por regressão linear. As estimativas das áreas foliares (y) para as quatro espécies estudadas podem ser tomadas a partir das equações: y = 2,658 + 0,554X, para o araçazeiro; y = 0.75X ou y = 0,856X - 2,115, para a goiabeira serrana; y = 0.68X, para a uvalheira e y = 0,69X ou y = 0,503 + 0,643X, para a pitangueira, sendo X = comprimento x largura da folha.

This work was carried out in order to study different laboratory and field methods for estimating leaf area of wild fruit species, belonging to the Myrtaceae: "uvalha" plant (Eugenia uvalha Camb.), cattley guava plant (Psidium cattleyanum Sabine), feijoa plant (Feijoa sellowiana Berg) and Surinam cherry plant (Eugenia uniflora DC). Among the laboratory' methods utilized as "standard methods", good results were obtained with the use of an automatic leaf area meter, planimeter or by the gravimetric method (photocopy or Whatman paper). Among field methods, best results were obtained with linear regression. The estimation of leaf area y for all studied species could be obtained through the equations: y = 2,658 + 0,554 x for cattley guava plant; y = 0,75 x or y = 0,856 x - 2,115 for feijoa plant; y = 0,68 x for "uvalha" plant and y = 0,69 x or y = 0,503 + 0,643 x for Surinam cherry plant, where x = leaf length x leaf width.

Com o objetivo de estudar alguns fatores fisiológicos envolvidos na formação e desenvolvimento de raízes em mudas de goiabeira serrana (Feijoa sellowiana Berg), multiplicadas por mergulhia de cepa, foi realizado um experimento em Pelotas-RS, com mudas decepadas em julho de 91 e sobre as quais foi realizada amontoa em outubro de 91. A avaliação foi feita em agosto de 92, sendo observadas as variáveis: teor de clorofila total, área foliar, numero e diâmetro de brotações, número e percentagem de brotações enraizadas e peso da matéria seca das raízes. As variáveis teor de clorofila, área foliar e diâmetro médio das brotações não apresentaram influência sobre a matéria seca das raízes. O incremento no número de brotações causou um aumento no número de brotações enraizadas, entretanto, não apresentou influência na percentagem de brotações enraizadas. O aumento no número de brotações por cepa ocasionou um decréscimo em seu diâmetro médio. É demonstrado que é possível multiplicar plantas de goiabeira serrana através de mergulhia de cepa.

The aim of this research was to study some physiological factors involved in root growth and development in sprouts of feijoa Feijoa settowiana Berg., multiplied by stool layring. The experiment was conducted in Pelotas,RS, Brazil, using sprouts cut in July 91, which were covered with soil in October 91. In August 92 the following variables were evaluated: total chlorophyll content, leaf area, stool number and diameter, number and percentage of rooted stools and root dry-matter weight. The variables chlorophyll content, leaf area and stool average diameter, did not show influence on root dry matter. The increase in number of stools caused an increase in the number but not in the percentage of rooted stools. The increase in stool number per plant caused a decrease in stool average diameter. It is demonstrated that it is possible to multiply feijoa plants through stool layring.
