RESUMO Introdução: Uma das intercorrências mais comuns em pós-operatório de cirurgia plástica de lipoaspiração e abdominoplastia é a equimose, e seu tratamento e prevenção fazem parte da rotina do fisioterapeuta dermatofuncional. O objetivo é avaliar a ocorrência de equimose de pacientes submetidas à abdominoplastia e/ou lipoaspiração tradicional de abdome e flancos, e correlacionar estatisticamente essas ocorrências com o tratamento de taping linfático no transoperatório. Métodos: Ensaio clínico controlado, composto por 20 pacientes do sexo feminino, com idade entre 20 e 60 anos divididos em dois grupos: 10 no grupo controle (GC) e 10 no grupo experimental (GE). Todas as mulheres que apresentavam indicação cirúrgica de abdominoplastia e/ou lipoaspiração de abdome e flancos. O GC foi apenas avaliado no pré-operatório e no 4º dia de pós-operatório, enquanto o grupo GE foi avaliado no pré-operatório, recebeu tratamento transoperatório com aplicação de taping linfático e foi reavaliado no 4º dia de pós-operatório. Resultados: O grupo experimental apresentou uma melhor resposta na resolução da equimose (p=0,01) quando comparado ao grupo controle. Conclusão: Neste estudo, o uso do taping linfático no transoperatório de abdominoplastia e lipoaspiração, reduziu ou anulou a formação de equimose no pós-operatório, contribuindo para a diminuição do número de atendimentos fisioterapêuticos, incidência de quadro álgico e acelerando assim o restabelecimento dos pacientes no pós-operatório das cirurgias de abdominoplastia e/ou lipoaspiração.

ABSTRACT Introduction: Ecchymosis is one of the most common complications in the postoperative period of plastic liposuction and abdominoplasty surgery. Its treatment and prevention are part of the routine of the dermatofunctional physiotherapist. The objective is to evaluate the occurrence of ecchymosis in patients undergoing abdominoplasty and/or traditional liposuction of the abdomen and flanks and statistically correlate these occurrences with the treatment of lymphatic taping during the operation. Methods: Controlled clinical trial, composed of 20 female patients, aged between 20 and 60, divided into 10 in the control group (CG) and 10 in the experimental group (EG). All women had a surgical indication of abdominoplasty and/or liposuction of the abdomen and flanks. The CG was only evaluated preoperatively and on the 4th postoperative day, while the EG group was evaluated preoperatively, received transoperative treatment with application of lymphatic taping and was reevaluated on the 4th postoperative day. Results: The experimental group presented a better response in the resolution of ecchymosis (p=0.01) when compared to the control group. Conclusion: In this study, the use of lymphatic taping during the transoperative period of abdominoplasty and liposuction reduced or annulled the formation of ecchymosis in the postoperative period, contributing to the decrease in the number of physical therapy visits, the incidence of pain and thus accelerating the reestablishment of patients from abdominoplasty and/or liposuction surgeries.

RESUMO Objetivo: analisar o perfil sociodemográfico e clínico de mulheres com câncer ginecológico em braquiterapia. Método: estudo transversal incluindo registros de 1.930 atendimentos de mulheres em braquiterapia assistidas entre 2006-2016 em Santa Catarina (Brasil). Coleta foi realizada em 2019, em banco institucional, submetida às medidas de frequência, Teste Qui-Quadrado, intervalos de 95% de confiança, nível de significância de 0,05. Resultados: predominaram as mulheres entre 40-59 anos (47,2%),brancas (93,3%); com ensino fundamental (65%); câncer do colo do útero (78,5%); nos estádios II-III (73,3%). Na comparação das proporções dos estadiamentos na variável topografia, encontrou-se uma maior proporção da neoplasia maligna do colo do útero não especificada nos estadiamentos III-IV agrupados (84,6%). Conclusão: a análise do perfil mostra a necessidade do rastreamento e educação em saúde para prevenção e/ou detecção precoce dos cânceres ginecológicos e a formação de enfermeiros especialistas em radioterapia para atendimento da saúde da mulher.

ABSTRACT Objective: to analyze the sociodemographic and clinical profile of women with gynecological cancer in brachytherapy. Method: a cross-sectional study including records of 1,930 visits of women in brachytherapy assisted between 2006-2016 in Santa Catarina (Brazil). Collection was performed in 2019, in an institutional bank, submitted to frequency measurements, chi-square test, 95% confidence intervals, significance level of 0.05. Results: women aged 40-59 years (47.2%), white (93.3%); with elementary school (65%); cervical cancer (78.5%); stages II-III (73.3%) figured prominently. In the comparison of staging proportions in the topography variable, a higher proportion of malignant neoplasm of cervix uteri unspecified in the grouped III-IV staging (84.6%). Conclusion: the profile analysis shows the need for screening and health education for prevention and/or early detection of gynecological cancers and training of nurses specialized in radiotherapy to care for women’s health.

RESUMEN Objetivo: analizar el perfil sociodemográfico y clínico de mujeres con cáncer ginecológico en braquiterapia. Método: estudio transversal que incluyó registros de 1.930 visitas de mujeres en braquiterapia asistidas entre 2006-2016 en Santa Catarina (Brasil). La recolección se realizóen 2019, en un banco institucional, sometida a medidas de frecuencia, pruebachi-cuadrado, intervalos de confianza al 95%, nivel de significancia de 0,05. Resultados: predominaron las mujeres entre 40-59 años (47,2%), blancas (93,3%); con educación primaria (65%); cáncer de cuello uterino (78,5%); en estadios II-III (73,3%). Al comparar las proporciones de estadificación en la variable topografía, encontramos una mayor proporción de malignidad cervical no especificada la estadificación agrupada III-IV (84,6%). Conclusión: el análisis del perfil muestra la necesidad de cribado y educación sanitaria para la prevención y/o detección temprana de cánceres ginecológicos y la formación de enfermeras especializadas en radioterapia para el cuidado de la salud de la mujer.

RESUMO Objetivo: Estimar a prevalência de sintomas respiratórios e asma de acordo com o índice de massa corpórea (IMC) em indivíduos com idade ≥ 40 anos e avaliar os fatores associados ao relato de diagnóstico médico de asma. Métodos: Estudo transversal de base populacional realizado no município de Florianópolis (SC), com coleta domiciliar de dados e processo de amostragem probabilístico. Foram coletadas informações demográficas, assim como sobre relato de diagnóstico médico de asma, sintomas respiratórios, medicações em uso e comorbidades. Também foram realizadas medidas antropométricas e espirometria pré- e pós-broncodilatador. O IMC foi categorizado em normal (IMC < 25 kg/m2), sobrepeso (25 kg/m2 ≥ IMC < 30 kg/m2) e obesidade (IMC ≥ 30 kg/m2). Resultados: Foram avaliados 1.026 indivíduos, 274 (26,7%) com IMC normal, 436 (42,5%) com sobrepeso e 316 (30,8%) obesos. A prevalência de diagnóstico médico de asma foi de 11,0%. A prevalência de obesidade foi maior em mulheres (p = 0,03) e em entrevistados com escolaridade < 4 anos (p < 0,001) ou com renda familiar entre 3-10 salários mínimos. Obesos, quando comparados com aqueles com sobrepeso e peso normal, relataram mais frequentemente diagnóstico médico de asma (16,1%, 9,9% e 8,0%, respectivamente; p = 0,04), dispneia (35,5%, 22,5% e 17,9%, respectivamente; p < 0,001) e sibilos no último ano (25,6%, 11,9% e 14,6%, respectivamente; p < 0,001). Esses resultados foram independentes do status tabágico. Além disso, obesos tinham uma chance três vezes maior de relato de diagnóstico médico de asma do que não obesos (p = 0,005). Conclusões: Houve associação significativa entre o relato de diagnóstico médico de asma em indivíduos com idade ≥ 40 anos e IMC ≥ 30 kg/m2. Ser obeso triplicou a chance de diagnóstico médico de asma.

ABSTRACT Objective: To estimate the prevalence of respiratory symptoms and asthma, according to body mass index (BMI), as well as to evaluate factors associated with physician-diagnosed asthma, in individuals ≥ 40 years of age. Methods: This was a population-based cross-sectional study conducted in Florianópolis, Brazil, with probability sampling. Data were collected during home visits. Demographic data were collected, as were reports of physician-diagnosed asthma, respiratory symptoms, medications in use, and comorbidities. Anthropometric measurements were taken. Individuals also underwent spirometry before and after bronchodilator administration. Individuals were categorized as being of normal weight (BMI < 25 kg/m2), overweight (25 kg/m2 ≥ BMI < 30 kg/m2), or obese (BMI ≥ 30 kg/m2). Results: A total of 1,026 individuals were evaluated, 274 (26.7%) were of normal weight, 436 (42.5%) were overweight, and 316 (30.8%) were obese. The prevalence of physician-diagnosed asthma was 11.0%. The prevalence of obesity was higher in women (p = 0.03), as it was in respondents with ≤ 4 years of schooling (p < 0.001) or a family income of 3-10 times the national minimum wage. Physician-diagnosed asthma was more common among obese individuals than among those who were overweight and those of normal weight (16.1%, 9.9%, and 8.0%, respectively; p = 0.04), as were dyspnea (35.5%, 22.5%, and 17.9%, respectively; p < 0.001) and wheezing in the last year (25.6%, 11.9%, and 14.6%, respectively; p < 0.001). These results were independent of patient smoking status. In addition, obese individuals were three times more likely to report physician-diagnosed asthma than were those of normal weight (p = 0.005). Conclusions: A report of physician-diagnosed asthma showed a significant association with being ≥ 40 years of age and with having a BMI ≥ 30 kg/m2. Being obese tripled the chance of physician-diagnosed asthma.

Resumo O câncer de mama é o mais frequente nas mulheres, tendo como consequências do tratamento a fadiga e sintomas depressivos, no entanto a atividade física pode auxiliar neste processo. Objetivou-se investigar a relação entre fadiga, sintomas depressivos e prática de atividade física de mulheres com câncer de mama em fase de tratamento ou pós tratamento oncológico. Estudo transversal com 179 mulheres (56,89 ± 9,4 anos) do Centro de Pesquisas Oncológicas – CEPON, utilizando-se um questionário sobre informações gerais e clínicas, fadiga (Escala de Fadiga de Piper), sintomas depressivos (Inventário de Depressão de Beck) e atividade física (IPAQ – versão curta). As mulheres com fadiga moderada a intensa realizavam fisioterapia (p=0,001) e as mulheres com ausência de fadiga apresentaram sintomas depressivos mínimos (p ?0,001). O nível de atividade física não se associou com a fadiga, sendo que a maioria das mulheres era insuficientemente ativa e as mulheres com fadiga leve apresentaram um tempo de caminhada maior do que aquelas com ausência de fadiga (p=0,049). Mulheres com presença de sintomas depressivos apresentaram quase três vezes mais chance de apresentar fadiga leve a intensa e aquelas que realizavam fisioterapia apresentaram duas vezes mais chance de apresentar fadiga leve a intensa. Mulheres com fadiga apresentaram maior presença de sintomas depressivos. Os profissionais que atuam na área da saúde oncológica devem recomendar a prática de atividade física a fim de minimizar os efeitos colaterais do tratamento, e prestar atenção aos sinais de sintomas depressivos e fadiga nestas mulheres.

Abstract Breast cancer is the most frequent in women, resulting in fatigue and depressive symptoms as consequence of treatment, but physical activity can help in this process. The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between fatigue, depressive symptoms and practice of physical activity of women with breast cancer during treatment or after cancer treatment. This is a cross-sectional study with 179 women (56.89 ± 9.4 years) from the Oncology Research Center - CEPON, using questionnaire on general and clinical information, fatigue (Piper Fatigue Scale) depressive symptoms (Beck Depression Inventory) and physical activity (IPAQ - short version). Women with moderate to severe fatigue underwent physiotherapy (p = 0.001) and women with no fatigue had minimum depressive symptoms (p ?0.001). Level of physical activity was not associated with fatigue, with most women being insufficiently active and women with mild fatigue had longer walking time than those without fatigue (p = 0.049). Women with depressive symptoms were almost three times more likely of having mild to severe fatigue and those who underwent physiotherapy were twice as likely of having mild to severe fatigue. Women with fatigue had greater presence of depressive symptoms. Professionals working in the field of oncology should recommend the practice of physical activity in order to minimize the side effects of treatment and observe depressive symptoms and fatigue in these women.

ABSTRACT Objective: to identify the meaning of brachytherapy in the narratives of women with genital cancer. Method: nnarrative research conducted at the Centro de Pesquisas Oncológicas (Santa Catarina/Brazil) with 32 women in pelvic brachytherapy. The narratives were collected, between September 2017 and July 2018, using semi-structured interviews submitted to content analysis. Results: five thematic categories emerged from the speeches, in this study two of them are presented: (Un)knowledge about brachytherapy and Care by the professional team, which reveal the deficit of information about brachytherapy, the reports of other people negatively influencing the meaning of the therapy and, on the other hand, the infrastructure, the service of the team and the faith positively influencing. Conclusion: the relevance of health education and professional care is evident, minimizing the physical and emotional effects resulting from therapy, positively impacting women’s narratives.

RESUMEN: Objetivo: Identificar el significado de la braquiterapia en los testimonios de mujeres con cáncer ginecológico. Método: Investigación narrativa, realizada en el Centro de Investigaciones Oncológicas (Santa Catarina/Brasil), con 32 mujeres en braquiterapia pélvica. Los testimonios fueron recogidos entre setiembre de 2017 y julio de 2018, mediante entrevistas semiestructuradas sometidas a análisis de contenido. Resultados: De las comunicaciones surgieron cinco categorías temáticas, en este estudio serán presentadas dos: (Des)conocimiento sobre la braquiterapia y Atención del equipo multiprofesional, que revelan el déficit de información sobre la braquiterapia, los testimonios de otras personas influyendo negativamente en el significado de la terapéutica y, de manera opuesta, la infraestructura, la atención del equipo y la fe ejerciendo influencia positiva. Conclusión: Se evidencia la relevancia de la educación en salud y la atención profesional, minimizando los efectos físicos y emocionales derivados de la terapéutica, impactando positivamente en los testimonios de las mujeres.

RESUMO Objetivo: identificar o significado da braquiterapia nas narrativas de mulheres com câncer ginecológico. Método: pesquisa narrativa realizada no Centro de Pesquisas Oncológicas (Santa Catarina/Brasil) com 32 mulheres em braquiterapia pélvica. Coletaram-se as narrativas, entre setembro de 2017 e julho de 2018, por entrevistas semiestruturadas submetidas à análise de conteúdo. Resultados: das comunicações emergiram cinco categorias temáticas, neste estudo apresentam-se duas: (Des)conhecimento sobre a braquiterapia e Atendimento da equipe multiprofissional, que revelam o déficit de informações sobre a braquiterapia, os relatos de outras pessoas influenciando negativamente o significado da terapêutica e, opostamente, a infraestrutura, o atendimento da equipe e a fé influenciando positivamente. Conclusão: evidencia-se a relevância da educação em saúde e da atenção profissional, minimizando os efeitos físicos e emocionais consequentes da terapêutica, impactando positivamente as narrativas das mulheres.

RESUMO O estudo analisou a relação entre a atividade física e a qualidade de vida de pacientes diagnosticados com câncer de próstata atendidos no Centro de Pesquisas Oncológicas (CEPON). Participaram 85 homens com média de idade de 65,9±7,6 anos. Fez-se uso de um questionário estruturado contemplando: informações gerais; características da doença; estrato socioeconômico (IBGE); atividade física (IPAQ - versão curta); qualidade de vida geral (QLQ-C30) e; qualidade de vida - câncer de próstata (QLQ-PR25). A maioria indicou ser insuficientemente ativo com uma boa qualidade de vida geral. Houve significância em subitens da escala funcional, com melhores escores nos homens ativos, e menores sintomas na escala sintomática. Houve correlação positiva entre atividade física e qualidade de vida na escala geral e funcional e itens função física e emocional, e negativa na escala sintomática e itens náusea e vômito, constipação e dificuldades financeiras. Conclui-se que os participantes, eram insuficientemente ativos, sendo que o grupo dos ativos apresentou na escala funcional, melhor função física, emocional e menor presença de sintomas na escala sintomática, náusea e vômito, constipação e dificuldades financeiras, indicativos estes de melhor qualidade de vida.

ABSTRACT The study examined the relationship between physical activity and quality of life of patients diagnosed with prostate cancer treated at the Oncology Research Center (CEPON). The study involved 85 men with a mean age of 65.9 ± 7.6 years. It made use of a structured questionnaire covering: general information; characteristic of the disease; socioeconomic status (IBGE); physical activity (IPAQ - short version); overall quality of life (QLQ-C30) and; quality of life - prostate cancer (QLQ-PR25). Most indicated to be insufficiently active with a good overall quality of life. There was significance in sub-items of the functional scale, with higher scores in active men, and those who practiced physical activity had fewer symptoms in symptomatic scale. There was a positive correlation between physical activity and quality of life in general and functional scale and items physical and emotional function, and negative in symptomatic scale and nausea items and vomiting, constipation and financial difficulties. In conclusion, the participants were insufficiently active, and the group of assets presented in the functional scale, better physical function, emotional and lower presence of symptoms in symptomatic scale, nausea and vomiting, constipation and financial difficulties, indicative these best quality of life.

Resumo Introdução: O linfedema de cabeça e pescoço é considerado uma complicação crônica e complexa que pode provocar prejuízos físicos, funcionais, emocionais e sociais importantes. Objetivo: Identificar as abordagens fisioterapêuticas utilizadas no linfedema pós-tratamento de câncer de cabeça e pescoço. Método: Para o delineamento dessa revisão, foi realizado levantamento bibliográfico nos meses de fevereiro e março de 2012, em livros e nas bases de dados eletrônicas LILACS, MEDLINE, SCIELO, Cochrane, PEDro, BDTD utilizando as palavras-chave: linfedema, tratamento, câncer de cabeça e pescoço, fisioterapia ligadas pelo operador boleano AND, sem estabelecer data limite para a publicação. Resultados e discussão: O diagnóstico precoce e a avaliação são fundamentais para o manejo adequado e tratamento efetivo do linfedema. O diagnóstico é realizado através da história clínica e do exame físico pela medida da distância entre dois pontos anatômicos, das medidas de circunferência e escalas de intensidade do linfedema. A fisioterapia complexa descongestiva ou linfoterapia que inclue: drenagem linfática manual, bandagem compressiva, cinesioterapia e cuidados com a pele, é a técnica mais utilizada na intervenção do linfedema, considerada padrão ouro atualmente. Conclusões: De acordo com a literatura revisada, não há consenso sobre o procedimento padrão para avaliação e tratamento do linfedema após o câncer de cabeça e pescoço. A avaliação e o tratamento para linfedema descritos na literatura estão restritos, principalmente, a membros, sendo assim, novos estudos devem ser realizados a fim de subsidiar ações clínicas efetivas na abordagem fisioterapêutica desta sequela.

Abstract Introduction: Head and neck lymphedema is considered a chronic and complex complication with potential to cause physical, functional, emotional and social impairment. Objective: To identify the approaches to physical therapy used to treat head and neck cancer-related lymphedema. Method: A bibliographic search was conducted in February and March 2012 in books and electronic databases, LILACS, MEDLINE, SCIELO, Cochrane, PEDro, and BDTD using the following keywords: lymphedema, treatment, head and neck cancer, and physical therapy connected by the Boolean operator AND without a specific time frame. Results and discussion: Early diagnosis and assessment is key to properly managing and effectively treating lymphedema. Diagnosis is reached through clinical history and physical assessment by measuring the distance between two anatomical landmarks, circumference measures, and lymphedema rating scales. Complex decongestive therapy, which includes manual lymph drainage, compressive bandaging, kinesiotherapy and skin care, is the technique most frequently used and currently considered to be the gold standard. Conclusions: No consensus is reported in the literature in regard to a standard procedure to assess and treat head and neck cancer-related lymphedema. Assessments and treatments described in the literature are mainly restricted to the limbs; therefore, further studies are needed to support effective clinical actions in the physical therapy approach to this condition.

RESUMO Trata-se de uma revisão sistemática cujo objetivo foi analisar estudos originais que investigaram benefícios da atividade física em homens com câncer de próstata. A busca foi realizada nas bases de dados PubMed, Web of Science, Science Direct, Biblioteca Virtual Scielo, e Biblioteca Virtual da Saúde. Para o levantamento dos artigos utilizou-se os descritores [motor activity] AND [prostate neoplasm] em inglês, espanhol e português. Foram incluídos 21 estudos publicados em inglês, entre 2004 e 2015. As investigações tiveram maior foco na atividade física com outras variáveis, relacionando-as positivamente com melhoria da qualidade de vida e diminuição da mortalidade e progressão da doença. Foram observados benefícios em variáveis como fadiga e função sexual, além da diminuição na circunferência abdominal e pressão arterial. Novos estudos são sugeridos a fim de investigar a prática de atividade física em diferentes intensidades com ensaios clínicos randomizados, permeando o diagnóstico, período de tratamento e recuperação do paciente.

ABSTRACT This is a systematic review whose objective was to analyze original studies investigating the association of physical activity in the health of men diagnosed with prostate cancer. The databases used were PubMed, Web of Science, Science Direct, Virtual Library Scielo, and Virtual Library of Health. The descriptors used in the search were [physical activity] AND [prostate cancer] in English, Spanish and Portuguese. We included 21 studies published in English, from 2004 to 2015. The investigations had increased focus on physical activity and other variables, relating positively to improving the quality of life. Positive results were observed in the physical, fatigue and sexual function in addition to the decrease in waist circumference and blood pressure. Further studies are suggested in order to investigate the physical activity at different intensities with longitudinal methodologies, permeating the diagnosis, the treatment period and recovery.

O controle da dor no trabalho de parto e no parto, assim como a prevenção do sofrimento são alguns dos objetivos da equipe obstétrica, a qual deve trabalhar para garantir à mulher um parto seguro e satisfatório. Há diversos recursos que podem ser utilizados pelo fisioterapeuta enquanto membro da equipe obstétrica para proporcionar confiança, conforto e alívio da dor à parturiente durante o trabalho de parto. O suporte fisioterapêutico inclui banhos, crioterapia, massagens, técnicas respiratórias, deambulação, posições verticais e a neuroeletroestimulação transcutânea (TENS). Através da pesquisa bibliográfica realizada concluiu-se que a TENS para analgesia ainda aparece com resultados inconclusivos. Todavia, todos os outros recursos aparecem na literatura como vantajosos e que devem ser estimulados durante o período de dilatação e expulsão. O fisioterapeuta mostrou-se útil no acompanhamento da mulher durante o processo parturitivo, ajudando na redução da percepção dolorosa e na diminuição do tempo de trabalho de parto.

Control of pain during labor and childbirth are among the goals of the obstetric team to ensure the pregnant woman a safe and satisfactory delivery. There are several techniques that can be used by the physiotherapist as a member of the obstetric team to ensure relief from pain during childbirth. The physiotherapeutic assistance includes baths, cryotherapy, massage, breathing techniques, walking, vertical positions and transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS). Bibliographical research conducted, revealed that the use of TENS for analgesic purposes is inconclusive, though all the other techniques are considered in the literature to be beneficial, and should be encouraged during dilation and delivery. Physiotherapists proved to be useful in assisting the pregnant woman during labor, helping to reduce the perception of pain and speeding up delivery.

Bibliographical research conducted, revealed that the use of TENS for analgesic purposes is inconclusive, though all the other techniques are considered in the literature to be beneficial, and should be encouraged during dilation and delivery. Physiotherapists proved to be useful in assisting the pregnant woman during labor, helping to reduce the perception of pain and speeding up delivery.
