Abstract: The dossier, “Latin American intellectual history in perspective: narratives, practices and circulation of ideas”, presents different approaches to intellectual history with various themes that contemplate the historiography, production and circulation of ideas in the twentieth century in Latin America. The dossier brings together works that address different political-cultural contexts and present important reflections on the history of ideas in their contexts of production, enunciation and circulation. It also enables the dialogue and dissemination of research that revisits themes and proposes new reflections on this broad field of study.

Resumo: O dossiê, “A história intelectual latino-americana em perspectiva: narrativas, práticas e circulação de ideias”, apresenta distintos enfoques sobre a história intelectual, com variados temas que contemplam a historiografia, a produção e a circulação das ideias no século XX na América Latina. O dossiê reúne trabalhos que abordam diferentes contextos político-culturais e apresentam importantes reflexões sobre a história das ideias em seus espaços de produção, enunciação e circulação, assim como possibilita a interlocução e divulgação de pesquisas que revisitam temas e propõem novas reflexões acerca desse amplo campo de estudo.

Resumen: El investigador chileno Eduardo Devés Valdés (Universidad de Santiago de Chile) analiza en una entrevista los espacios que los intelectuales latinoamericanos han ocupado en la esfera pública y en la circulación global de las ideas, abordando aspectos teóricos y metodológicos de la historia intelectual desde perspectivas que abordan la relación entre el Norte y el Sur Global, las categorías de “centro” y “periferia”, las redes y los ecosistemas intelectuales. Además de señalar sus recientes investigaciones e importantes fuentes documentales y referencias bibliográficas sobre el tema.

Abstract: The Chilean researcher Eduardo Devés Valdés (University of Santiago de Chile), in this interview, analyzes the spaces that Latin American intellectuals have occupied in the public sphere and the worldwide circulation of ideas, contemplating theoretical and methodological aspects of intellectual history from perspectives that address the relations between the Global North and South, the categories “center” and “periphery”, intellectual networks and ecosystems. In addition to pointing out his recent research and important documentary sources and bibliographic references on the subject.

No final dos anos 1970 e início dos 80, Julio Cortázar e Mario Vargas Llosa compararam a Nicarágua sandinista com a Cuba de Fidel Castro, colocando em dia o debate sobre a revolução e o socialismo na América Latina. O presente trabalho analisa os artigos de Cortázar e Vargas Llosa para mostrar como eles compreenderam e traduziram a experiência sandinista. Em fins dos anos 1970, muitos intelectuais passaram a defender a Revolução Sandinista, como a possível revolução ideal ou uma nova chance para a experiência socialista na América Latina, como foi o caso de Cortázar. Vargas Llosa, desencantado com as esquerdas, apontava os "erros" do regime que poderiam levar a experiência sandinista a transformar o país centro-americano em uma "nova Cuba".

At the end of the 1970's and the beginning of the 1980's, Julio Cortázar and Mario Vargas Llosa compared the sandinista Nicaragua to the Fidel Castro's Cuba, renewing the debate about revolution and socialism in Latin America. This paper analyses Cortázar and Vargas Llosa's articles to demonstrate how they have understood and translated the sandinista experience. At the end of the 1970's, many intellectuals began to defend the sandinista Revolution as the possible ideal revolution or as a new chance to the socialist experience in the Latin America, and that was the case of Cortázar. Vargas Llosa, disappointed with the left, pointed out the regime's "mistakes" that might take the sandinista experience to turn Nicaragua into a "new Cuba".

À la fin des années 1970 et au début des années 1980, Julio Cortázar et Mario Vargas Llosa ont comparé le Nicaragua sandiniste à la Cuba de Fidel Castro, renouvelant la discussion sur la révolution et le socialisme en l'Amérique Latine. Ce travail analyse les articles de Cortázar et Vargas Llosa pour montrer comment ils ont compris et ont traduit l'expérience sandiniste. À la fin des années 1970, beaucoup d'intellectuels ont passé à defendre la Révolution Sandiniste comme la possible révolution idéale ou comme une nouvelle chance pour l'expérience socialiste en Amérique latine, comme l'a fait Cortázar. Vargas Llosa, déçu par la gauche, a indiqué les "erreus" du régime qui pourraient emmener l'expérience sandiniste a transformer le Nicaragua en une "nouvelle Cuba".
