Abstract Objectives To report a case series of Intraoperative Blood Salvage (IOS) in surgeries during the treatment for Slipped Capital Femoral Epiphysis (SCFE) with controlled dislocation of the hip, identifying its efficacy, complications, and the profile of patients with SCFE. Methods Descriptive study reporting a case series, comprising patients seen between January 2016 and March 2018, diagnosed with SCFE, and treated with controlled surgical dislocation of the hip using IOS. Results Sample comprised of 15 patients, with a mean age of 13.1 years. The most affected side was the left with 8 cases. None of the patients required allogeneic blood in the postoperative period. Mean pre- and postoperative hemoglobin were 13.2 and 11.2 g.dL-1, respectively, and mean hemoglobin difference was 1.8 g.dL-1. Mean pre- and postoperative hematocrit were 39.13% and 33.20%, respectively, and mean hematocrit difference was 5.52%. No intraoperative complications were observed. One patient presented vomiting and another one, wound infection in the postoperative period. Conclusion IOS was an alternative blood salvage approach and prevented allogeneic blood transfusion, enabling reduction of potential complications.

Resumo Objetivo Realizar a tradução e a adaptação transcultural para o português falado no Brasil do instrumento “Non-Communicating Children's Pain Checklist - Postoperative Version” (NCCPC-PV), destinado a avaliar a dor aguda em indivíduos com deficiência intelectual (DI) grave que apresentam grande comprometimento cognitivo e incapacidade de comunicação (CCIC). Método No processo de adaptação utilizado, o NCCPC-PV original foi traduzido, retraduzido, suas versões foram discutidas por um comitê de especialistas, e a ferramenta resultante foi testada em 20 profissionais de saúde e 20 cuidadores de pacientes com CCIC quanto à sua clareza semântica. Resultados Os dados deste estudo e de seus participantes foram analisados, e seus resultados foram descritos. Dessa maneira, obteve-se a Lista de Verificação de Dor em Crianças Não Comunicantes - Versão Pós-operatória (Br-NCCPC-PV) como a versão final para o português falado no Brasil. Conclusão Após este estudo, a Br-NCCPC-PV foi considerada adequada para o uso na população brasileira.

Abstract Objective To perform the translation and cross-cultural adaptation to Brazilian Portuguese of the Non-Communicating Children's Pain Checklist - Postoperative Version (NCCPC-PV) instrument, which assesses acute pain in individuals with severe intellectual disability (ID) who present great cognitive impairment and inability to communicate (CIIC). Method In the adaptation process, the original NCCPC-PV was translated, back-translated, its versions were discussed by a committee of experts, and the resulting tool was tested in 20 health professionals and 20 caregivers of CCIC patients regarding its semantic clarity. Results Data from the present study and its participants were analyzed and their results were described. Thus, “Lista de Verificação de Dor em Crianças Não Comunicantes – Versão Pós-operatória” (Br-NCCPC-PV) was obtained as the final version in Brazilian Portuguese. Conclusion After the present study, the Br-NCCPC-PV was considered adequate for use in the Brazilian population.

Resumo Objetivo Verificar se a petidina é segura para o concepto quando utilizada durante o trabalho de parto. Método Revisão sistemática nas bases de dados dos Periódicos Capes/PubMed e MEDLINE/Biblioteca Virtual em Saúde (BVS). Resultados Um total de 17 estudos, publicados de 1° de janeiro de 2000 a 2 de setembro de 2016, totalizando 1.688 participantes envolvidos, foram incluídos nesta revisão. Não houve registro de depressão na vitalidade dos conceptos comdoses baixas de petidina administradas às mães durante o trabalho de parto. Conclusão Petidina intramuscular (IM) ou intravenosa (IV) em baixas doses, de até 50 mg, é segura durante o trabalho de parto.

Abstract Purpose To verify if pethidine is safe for the conceptus when used during labor. Methods Systematic review in the Capes Periodicals/PubMed and MEDLINE/Virtual Health Library (BVS, in the Portuguese acronym) databases. Results A total of 17 studies published from January 1st, 2000, to September 2nd, 2016, with a total of 1,688 participants involved were included in the present review. There was no record of conceptus vitality decrease associated with low doses of pethidine being administered to mothers during labor. Conclusions Intramuscular (IM) or intravenous (IV) pethidine at low doses, of up to 50 mg, is safe to administer during labor.
