Resumo: Neste artigo buscou-se discutir e analisar o ensino remoto de química de saneantes em tempos de Covid-19 e os discursos sobre os elementos da mídia, ciência e pandemia, com a implementação da educação para as relações étnico-raciais com estudantes da educação básica, no projeto de letramento racial, o projeto Afrocientista. Com aspectos de uma pesquisa afrocêntrica, a intervenção pedagógica desenvolvida ocorreu com estudantes da escola pública e de periferia da Grande Goiânia, no estado de Goiás. Os dados foram analisados a partir da hermenêutica da profundidade do dispositivo polirracional do conhecimento químico. Os resultados apontam que, mesmo frente às limitações do ensino remoto, foi possível discutir sobre o conceito de função alcóolica, ainda que com a dificuldade do movimento circular das dimensões do conhecimento químico, como também as interfaces dos meios de comunicação e do conhecimento científico diante da pandemia da Covid-19 e as vivências da população afro-brasileira. Abstract: This study examines and assesses the chemistry of sanitizing alcohol for elementary school students during the COVID-19 pandemic via distance learning. In addition, it addresses how to apply ethnic-racial education in a racial literacy program by examining the roles played by the media, science, and the pandemic. We conducted a pedagogical intervention with public school students from the periphery of a Brazilian city, integrating Afrocentric research components and analyzing the data using the polyrational tool of chemical knowledge and the hermeneutics of depth. The study demonstrates the feasibility of discussing the concept of alcohol function, despite the challenges posed by the circular movement of chemical knowledge dimensions. The article also looks at the experiences of the Afro-Brazilian community and the relationship between scientific information and the media during the pandemic. The discussions on human rights, gender and race are global and urgent. Using elements of participatory research, this study aimed to analyze, understand and characterize the formative process of postgraduate student’s knowledge and reflections mobilized on the gender and sexuality in the teaching of Science/Chemistry. The results show that the students started from a counter-hegemonic intentionality regarding the way in which the issue of hormones is traditionally treated in Science/Chemistry teaching. Furthermore, they recognized scientific knowledge as active in the production and reproduction of systems of oppression teacher on diversity education transgressive way of teaching the subject, beyond the binary conception of gender. Abstract Racism, which spawned all manner of sophism in order to spread the thesis that Africa and its diaspora are made up of inferior beings, modulated a curriculum that produces and reproduces it in the classroom. Black populations, on the other hand, have resisted. In the aftermath of this counter-hegemonic movement, the purpose of this article was to comprehend and analyze the design and implementation of a pedagogical intervention in a Chemistry teacher training program in the course Education for Ethnic-Racial Relations in Science-Chemistry, developed by Coletivo X. The emancipatory action research project gathered empirical data through video recordings that were analyzed using elements of a Bakhtinian analysis. The findings allowed for the identification of the prospective teachers' responsiveness to the issues raised in the discussions, the polyphony of the nature of the utterances, and the drawing of conclusions about a skill called polyrationality, which teachers will need to master in order to blacken the teaching of chemistry. EGYPTIAN BEER? EDUCATION FOR ETHNIC-RACIAL RELATIONS (ERER) IN TEACHER FORMATION IN CHEMISTRY. This work was carried out in a Higher Education Institution (IES), in the State of Goiás, in the Chemistry Degree course, aiming at the implementation of Law 10639/03. The context discussed herein is the chemical knowledge of African and diasporic matrices from Ancient Egypt in the development and production of beer. In order to subsidize teachers in initial formation with strategies in the classroom for an anti-racist education, taking into account the contribution of African people in the constitution of the country. It is an action research and its development happened through a Pedagogical Intervention (IP) with the theme: Ancient Egypt, Beer and Chemistry. The results were collected through audio recording and analyzed using the Conversation Analysis technique. Our results have shown that it is possible to talk about African history and culture, in a chemistry class in the initial chemistry teacher training course, making an epistemic shift in the curriculum, taking previously silenced knowledge to school, such as the history and culture of African peoples.

In this paper, from the experiences of the Collective Ciata, we seek to elucidate theoreticalmethodological aspects that can establish the teaching of Chemistry for education for ethnic-racial relations and the implementation of law 10.639/2003. This research was based on the research-action technique. The recording of the interventions was done followed by transcription and analysis according to the theoretical reference of the analysis of the conversation. Our results show that racism is present in the classroom, therefore, also in Chemistry class. The teacher deals with the real school and must be trained to act in it. It is possible to promote curricular changes in favor of black populations by designing a curriculum that contemplates the ethnic-racial diversity of Brazilian society. Our results showed that it is possible to discuss in a Chemistry class subjects related to the proposals of the mentioned law, as well as, to approach concepts of related chemistry. For this purpose, knowledge was mobilized that were not present in the curriculum of the degree in Chemistry and, therefore, demanded training in service through the group of studies instituted by the Collective Ciata.

Resumo: Avaliamos de que modo os capitais social, cultural e econômico dos estudantes do ensino secundário afetam, em escala global, o seu desempenho em ciências e teorizamos de que maneira esses resultados se relacionam à crise educacional tal como predita o modelo neoliberal. Utilizamos os resultados de ciências das avaliações realizadas pelo Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) no ano de 2009 por diversos países e os relacionamos com índices de capitais cultural, social e econômico criados a partir de dados internacionais. Analisamos, no programa Statistica, de que maneira cada um dos capitais se relaciona ao desempenho dos países em ciências. Construímos, para isso, figuras que relacionam os capitais ao seu desempenho em ciências. Os resultados mostram que o capital econômico é fundamental ao bom desempenho em ciências; apenas o atrelamento entre todos os capitais (econômicos, sociais e culturais) é que pode fornecer, entretanto, uma explicação mais completa para os resultados.

Abstract: We assess how the social, cultural and economic capital of the high school students on a global scale, affect their achievement in science and theorize how these results are related to the educational crisis as predicted by the neoliberal model. We use the results of science in the evaluations carried out by the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) in 2009 for many countries and relate to levels of cultural, social and economic capital raised from international data. We analyze how each relates to the performance of science in countries in Statistics program. For this, we build figures that relate capital to its performance in science. The results show that economic capital is key to good performance in science, however, only the linkage between all capitals (economic, social and cultural) can provide a more complete explanation of the results.

Apresenta-se uma investigação com elementos de uma pesquisa participante que objetivou apresentar o cenário da formação de professores de ciências no âmbito da educação inclusiva utilizando interações discursivas produzidas em reuniões de uma rede de pesquisa no estado de Goiás. Os resultados permitiram analisar a política de educação inclusiva no estado de Goiás, bem como refletir sobre como o ensino de ciências pode contribuir para a formação de cidadãos dentro dessa escola inclusiva.

We present an investigation using participatory research that aims to present the scenario of the training of science teachers in education using inclusive discursive in meetings of a research network in the state of Goiás Our results allowed us to rethink the policy of inclusive education the state of Goiás, and reflect on how science education can contribute to the formation of a citizen in this inclusive school.

O bilinguismo na educação de surdos pressupõe a língua de sinais como primeira língua do surdo e, com a inclusão escolar, os alunos surdos foram inseridos em instituições regulares de ensino, implicando uma nova estrutura da sala de aula. O ensino de ciências para surdos é um desafio, pois o aluno surdo utiliza uma língua diferente da do professor, e necessita de um intérprete de LIBRAS para ter acesso ao corpo de conhecimentos mediados por ele. A investigação objetivou analisar a produção de narrativas (um gênero do discurso) de professores e intérpretes de LIBRAS sobre a aula de ciências para surdos. As narrativas foram produzidas no “diário de aula”, e foram analisadas pela técnica de análise de conteúdo. Nossos resultados apontam que o bilinguismo ainda não permeia a sala de aula inclusiva, e que a barreira linguística é a maior dificuldade encontrada no aprendizado dos conhecimentos científicos pelos alunos surdos.

Bilingualism in deaf education presumes sign language as the first language of the deaf. With school inclusion deaf students have been enrolled in regular educational institutions resulting in a new structure in the classroom. Science teaching for the deaf is a challenge, because the student uses a language that is different from the teacher and needs a LIBRAS interpreter to access the body of knowledge mediated by the interpreter. The present study investigated the production of narratives (as a discourse genre) of professors and LIBRAS interpreters in science classes for deaf students. The narratives were produced in the class diary and analyzed by the content analysis technique. Our results pointed out that bilingualism still does not pervade the inclusive classroom, and the language barrier is the major difficulty found in learning science by deaf students.

A complexidade de ensinar ciências em salas de aulas inclusivas é evidenciada pela falta de preparo dos professores e das escolas em transpor a linguagem científica para as pessoas com diferentes necessidades de aprendizagem. Dialogar com professores formadores é uma iniciativa que tem por intuito incentivar essa discussão em um espaço em que ela não acontecia. Nosso objetivo consistiu em analisar concepções sobre alfabetização científica e temas em educação inclusiva nos discursos de professores formadores de ciências (Biologia, Física, Matemática e Química), em uma instituição de Ensino Superior em Jataí, Goiás. Foram realizadas entrevistas, gravadas em áudio, transcritas e analisadas a partir da Análise de Conteúdo. Os professores compreendem a alfabetização científica como fundamental para os cidadãos, e interpretam que todos os cidadãos têm direito a aprender ciência. Portanto, devem existir soluções para que essa alfabetização científica aconteça de modo eficiente, e que professores devem ser formados para isso.

The complexity of teaching science in inclusive education can be evidenced by the lack of preparation of teachers and schools in translating scientific language for people with different learning needs. "Talking with teachers" is an initiative that wants to encourage this discussion in a space in which doesn't happen. Our goal was perceive conceptions about scientific education and themes in inclusive education within the discourses of trainee teachers of science (Biology, Physics, Chemistry and Math) in a institution of higher education in Jataí, Goiás. Interviews were audio taped and analyzed using Content Analysis. We see that teachers understand scientific education as fundamental to citizens and that all have the right to learn science. There must exist solutions for this this scientific education happen and teachers should be trained for it.

Discorremos sobre o estudo do planejamento e design de um módulo instrucional para o ensino de ciências, especificamente para o ensino do sistema respiratório para alunos surdos. Primeiramente, apresentamos uma discussão sobre a educação de surdos pautada por questões linguísticas, que envolvem o ensino da língua portuguesa e a língua de sinais. Descrevemos a estratégia de criação do módulo, que está pautada no sociointeracionismo, e, finalmente, descrevemos uma situação de intervenção pedagógica analisando o processo de apropriação conceitual. Para tanto, apresentamos episódios de aulas para o 8º ano do Ensino Fundamental da Associação dos Surdos de Goiânia. Constituíram o design do módulo diferentes formas de representação do conhecimento científico. Nossos resultados permitem inferir que a estratégia foi utilizada como ferramenta da ação mediada e como instrumento de explicação e previsão. Ainda, permitiu aos alunos perceberem, estabelecerem relações e conhecerem fenômenos naturais simbolizados a partir das sequências vivenciadas.

This research presents the planning and design of an instructional module for teaching science, more specifically of the respiratory system for teaching deaf students. First, we address a discussion on deaf education based on linguistic issues, which involves the teaching of Portuguese and sign languages. We describe the strategy of creating a module that is based on social interactionism, and finally describe a situation of educational intervention by analyzing the process of conceptual appropriation. Therefore, we present episodes occurring in class 8th grade elementary school of the Association of the Deaf Goiânia (ASG), with the participation of nine students. The module design uses different forms of representation of scientific knowledge. Our results infer that the strategy was used as a tool of action and not as mediated reality, a tool of explanation and prediction. It allowed the students to perceive, build relationships and learn from the natural phenomena symbolized in the sequences experienced.

O uso de Tecnologias da Informação e Comunicação (TICs) na educação tem atraído atenção generalizada. Esse panorama permite diferentes leituras sobre a utilização de computadores no processo de ensino-aprendizagem. Nesta perspectiva, este artigo relata uma reflexão em bases sócio-históricas e culturais, sobre a compreensão das potencialidades e limitações do uso do computador em Escolas do Ensino Médio da Rede Pública da Baixada Fluminense, para o Ensino de Química. Algumas considerações gerais, referentes às primeiras experiências desta utilização concluem nossa apresentação da investigação.

The use of Technologies of Information and Communication (TIC) in education has called attention. This use allows different interpretations on the use of computers in the teaching and learning process. Thus, this article reports a reflection on socio-historical and cultural basis, about the potentialities and limitations of the use of computers for Chemistry Education in State High Schools in Baixada Fluminense, a region in the state of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Some general considerations, for the first experiments using this conclude our presentation of research results.

Metals play a vital role in human and plant physiology and important research is directed towards exploring the interrelated mechanisms that govern their interactions with biomolecules. Bioinorganic medicinal chemistry studies the functions, processing, storage and applications of metal ions and their complexes in biological systems. This paper presents a brief discussion about on interactions of metals with biomolecules that determine their intracellular accumulation, where metal ions may fulfill essential functions in cellular metabolism or, in certain cases, exert toxic effects towards cells.

Siderophores (from the Greek: "iron carriers") are defined as relatively low molecular weight, ferric ion specific chelating agents elaborated by microorganisms growing under low iron stress. The role of these compounds is to scavenge iron from the environment and to make this essential chemical element available to the microbial cell. The present paper is a brief presentation of siderophore coordination chemistry with emphasis on those aspects relevant to the transportation of iron (III) complexes across biological membranes. Finally, the role of siderophores in infection and their clinical potential as iron scavenging molecules are reviewed.
