O objetivo deste estudo foi avaliar se o nível de atenção concentrada e de precisão das marcações do árbitro de futebol se altera durante a partida de futebol. Para tanto, a amostra foi composta por oito árbitros credenciados pela Federação Paulista de Futebol, do sexo masculino, que atuaram em oito partidas oficiais do Campeonato Paulista Sub-20, no ano 2003. Foi utilizado o teste de Atenção Concentrada - Toulouse Piéron, Fator P, que destina-se a medir a rapidez e exatidão ao executar tarefas simples de identificação de quadrados, de natureza perceptiva, sem recorrer às funções intelectuais. Foram feitas filmagens em tempo real durante as partidas, com uma câmera de vídeo digital HANDYCAMTM modelo DCR. O teste qui-quadrado apresentou diferença significante entre as decisões tomadas nos 30 minutos iniciais do segundo tempo do jogo quando comparadas com os quinze minutos finais (p = .003). O teste t-pareado demonstrou diferença significante para a rapidez de concentração antes e após o jogo (p = .005); para a qualidade de concentração não foi significante (p = .209). Observou-se que os árbitros demonstraram tendência a errar menos nos quinze minutos finais dos jogos e apresentaram maior rapidez no teste de concentração após o jogo, não acontecendo o mesmo para qualidade de concentração.

The aim of this study was to assess whether there are differences in the level attention focused and accuracy judges of soccer referee during the soccer match. For this purpose, the sample was composed of eight male referees accredited by the Paulista Football Federation, who officiate official matches of the U-20 Paulista championship in 2003. The test used was Concentrated Attention - Toulouse Piéron, which is designed to measure the speed and accuracy when performing simple tasks of identifying squares, perceptual in nature, without resorting to intellectual functions. The tests were recorded in real time during matches with a digital cam HANDYCAMTM model DCR. The chi-square test showed a significant difference between decisions taken in the first 30 minutes of the second half of the game when compared to the final fifteen minutes (p = 0.003). The test t-paired showed significant difference to the speed of concentration before and after the game (p = 0.005), was not significant for the concentration quality (p = 0.209). It was observed that the referees showed fewer tendencies to make mistake in the final fifteen minutes of the game and had higher test speed in concentration after the game, not going to the same concentration quality.

The objective of the present study was to determine the impact of acute short-term exposure to air pollution on the cardiorespiratory performance of military fireman living and working in the city of Guarujá, São Paulo, Brazil. Twenty-five healthy non-smoking firemen aged 24 to 45 years had about 1 h of exposure to low and high levels of air pollution. The tests consisted of two phases: phase A, in Bertioga, a town with low levels of air pollution, and phase B, in Cubatão, a polluted town, with a 7-day interval between phases. The volunteers remained in the cities (Bertioga/Cubatão) only for the time required to perform the tests. Cumulative load 10 ± 2 min-long exertion tests were performed on a treadmill, consisting of a 2-min stage at a load of 7 km/h, followed by increasing exertion of 1 km h-1 min-1 until the maximum individual limit. There were statistically significant differences (P < 0.05) in anaerobic threshold (AT) between Cubatão (35.04 ± 4.91 mL kg-1 min-1) and Bertioga (36.98 ± 5.62 mL kg-1 min-1; P = 0.01), in the heart rate at AT (AT HR; Cubatão 152.08 ± 14.86 bpm, Bertioga 157.44 ± 13.64 bpm; P = 0.001), and in percent maximal oxygen consumption at AT (AT%VO2max; Cubatão 64.56 ± 6.55%, Bertioga 67.40 ± 5.35%; P = 0.03). However, there were no differences in VO2max, maximal heart rate or velocity at AT (ATvel) observed in firemen between towns. The acute exposure to pollutants in Cubatão, SP, caused a significant reduction in the performance at submaximal levels of physical exertion.

Foram avaliadas 13 jogadoras de basquete convocadas para disputa dos Jogos Olímpicos em Sidney - 2000. As atletas foram submetidas à mensuração do peso e altura, a um teste ergoespirométrico em esteira e a um teste de impulsão vertical. Todos os testes foram realizados no Cemafe (Centro de Medicina da Atividade Física e do Esporte) da Unifesp/EPM, em junho de 2000. Os resultados encontrados estão descritos a seguir: idade média de 24,4 ± 4,6 anos, peso corporal 70,8 ± 8,6kg, estatura 182 ± 7,6cm, e índice de massa corpórea (IMC) 21,4 ± 1,8. A avaliação ergoespirométrica revelou valores para o consumo máximo de oxigênio (VO2 máx) de 49,9 ± 5,4ml/kg/min; o consumo de oxigênio no limiar anaeróbio (VO2 LA) de 38,7 ± 4,3ml/kg/min; freqüência cardíaca máxima (FC máx) 194,4 ± 9,6bpm; freqüência cardíaca no limiar anaeróbio (FC LA) 179,7 ± 5,7bpm; velocidade no limiar anaeróbio (VEL LA) 11,9 ± 1,4km/h; gasto calórico no limiar anaeróbio (GASTO CAL) 815,6 ± 71,8kcal/h. No teste de impulsão vertical as atletas foram orientadas a saltar com a maior potência e o maior número de vezes possível em 30 segundos, detectando-se os índices por equipamento sonar (Vertisonic®). Foram encontrados para a potência máxima ou pico de potência 9,9 ± 2,2W e um trabalho muscular total durante os 30 segundos de 602,1 ± 104,8J. A avaliação médica e fisiológica é fundamental para atletas de alto nível alcançarem sucesso em competições de nível internacional, sendo estes parâmetros essenciais ao planejamento e periodização do treinamento.

Thirteen (13) elite female basketball players were submitted to medical and physiological evaluation in Cemafe (Federal University of São Paulo) in June, 2000. Age was 24.4 ± 4.6 y, height 182 ± 7.6 cm, and body mass 70.8 ± 8.6 kg. The Brazilian team was submitted to an ergospirometry evaluation by a computerized analysis of expired gases with cardiovascular responses recorded by ECG. A vertical jump test was performed to detect the anaerobic power during 30 seconds. The results were: maximum oxygen uptake (VO2 max) 49.9 ± 5.4 ml/kg/min; threshold oxygen uptake (VO2 LA) 38.7 ± 4.3 ml/kg/min; maximum heart rate 194.4 ± 9.6 bpm; anaerobic threshold heart rate 179.7 ± 5.7 bpm; anaerobic threshold velocity 11.9 ± 1.4 km/h; anaerobic power (peak) 9.9 ± 2.2 W; total muscular work (30 s) 602.1 ± 104.8 J. Medical and physiological evaluation is compulsory for elite female basketball players to be successful in international championships.
