ABSTRACT Purpose: To describe the epidemiological and clinical profile of hospitalized patients with retinoblastoma in Brazil. Methods: Using data from the Hospital Cancer Registry of the Instituto Nacional de Câncer, patients with the morphological codes of retinoblastoma who were diagnosed between 2000 to 2018, aged 0–19 years, and followed up in registered hospitals (analytical cases) were selected. The relative and absolute frequencies of demographic, clinical, diagnostic, therapeutic, and outcome variables were described. Hospital performance indicators were calculated and compared between hospitals qualified and not qualified to treat pediatric oncology cases and between hospitals with different case volumes (<20, 20-75, >75 cases). Results: Of the 2,269 identified analytical cases from 86 institutions, 48% were from the Southeast, 54% were male, and 66% were aged <4 years. The proportion of missing data (NA) was too high for several variables. Approximately 84% of the patients were from the public health system, 40% had a positive family history, and 88% had unilateral involvement. The first treatment included surgery in 58.3% of the patients (NA=2), Approximately 36.6% of these patients achieved complete remission, 10.8% achieved partial remission, and 12.7% died (NA=59%). Hospital performance indicators were within the target in >90% of the patients. The median time between the first appointment and diagnosis (6 days, interquartile range [IQR] 1–14) was significantly lower and the median time to death was longer (343 days, IQR, 212-539) in high-volume hospitals (>75 cases) than in medium- and low-volume hospitals. Conclusions: Despite the high proportion of missing data, we found that the delay in diagnosis is due to prehospital factors. Additionally, there is a need for educational programs for healthcare professionals and families that emphasize early identification and referral to specialized centers. Future studies should focus on the impact of Hospital Cancer Registry data completeness on outcomes, causes of delay in diagnosis, regional inequalities, and barriers to accessing specialized services.

RESUMO: O melão de polpa alaranjada honeydew apresenta elevado potencial nutricional e econômico, sendo amplamente apreciado como fruta doce e refrescante. Portanto, avaliar amostras comerciais de produtos tão relevantes para o mercado de frutas frescas é de grande importância. O objetivo deste estudo foi investigar a capacidade antioxidante, os parâmetros de qualidade e a composição química de melões do mercado brasileiro. Os valores de pH e ºBrix determinados para as amostras de melão foram 6,5 ± 0,30 e 9,2 ± 0,80 g/100 g (peso fresco), respectivamente, o que está de acordo com os resultados esperados para melões de alta qualidade. A análise cromatográfica revelou a sacarose (49% do açúcar total) como principal açúcar, seguida pela frutose (30%) e glicose (21%). Os carotenóides, que estão diretamente ligados à cor laranja característica, apresentaram teor total de 270,59 µg/g (peso seco). Além disso, o maior valor de b* comparado ao valor de a* indica a maior contribuição da cor amarela. Quanto ao potencial antioxidante, além de apresentar capacidade antioxidante para ambos os métodos aplicados, DPPH e FRAP, níveis variando de 16,40 ± 0,21 µmol equivalente de ácido ascórbico/g a 56,98 ± 0,80 µmol equivalente de Trolox/g (peso seco) foram encontrados nos extratos de melão. Ademais, os resultados foram maiores em termos de FRAP do que em DPPH. Desta forma, os resultados destacam os melões avaliados como fontes valiosas de compostos bioativos, como carotenóides e fenólicos, que contribuem para suas propriedades antioxidantes. Além disso, análises de cor, pH e teor de sólidos solúveis totais também refletem os atributos de qualidade.

ABSTRACT: Orange-fleshed non-netted honeydew melon has high nutritional and economic potential, being widely appreciated as a refreshing sweet fruit. Therefore, evaluating commercial samples of such relevant products for the fresh fruit market is of great importance. This study investigated the antioxidant capacity, quality parameters, and chemical composition of honeydew melons from the Brazilian market. The values of pH and °Brix determined for melon samples were 6.5 ± 0.30 and 9.2 ± 0.80 g/100 g (fresh weight), respectively, which agree with the results expected for high-quality melons. The chromatography analysis revealed sucrose (49% of total sugar) as the main sugar, followed by fructose (30%) and glucose (21%). Carotenoids, which are directly linked to the characteristic orange color, showed a total level of 270.59 µg/g (dry weight). Additionally, the higher b* value compared to a* value indicates the highest yellow contribution. Regarding the antioxidant assays, in addition to presenting antioxidant capacity for both methods applied, DPPH and FRAP, levels ranging from 16.40 ± 0.21 µmol ascorbic acid equivalent/g to 56.98 ± 0.80 µmol Trolox equivalent/g (dry weight) were reported in melon extracts. Moreover, the results were higher in terms of FRAP than DPPH. Therefore, the results underscore the evaluated honeydew melons as valuable sources of bioactive compounds, such as carotenoids and phenolics, which contribute to their antioxidant properties. Besides, analyses of color, pH, and total soluble solids content also reflect the quality attributes.

Resumo Introdução: A pandemia COVID-19 trouxe desafios e dificuldades que impactaram o sistema de saúde, nomeadamente a gestão e o diagnóstico da doença pulmonar obstrutiva crónica (DPOC) nos cuidados de saúde primários (CSP). Objetivos: Refletir sobre o impacto da pandemia da COVID-19 na gestão da DPOC nos CSP. Métodos: Analisaram-se os indicadores de DPOC disponíveis publicamente entre Dez/2018 e Fev/2020 (pré-pandemia), Mar/2020 e Jun/2021 (pandemia) e Jul/2021 e Set/2022 (pós-vacinação da população geral contra a COVID-19). Resultados: Antes da pandemia verificava-se um número crescente de doentes com DPOC nos CSP, que se inverteu após o início da pandemia e se manteve até ao final de 2020. Observou-se um rápido aumento durante 2021, com diminuição significativa no início de 2022, coincidente com o novo pico da pandemia. Este indicador estava a estabilizar para valores ligeiramente inferiores aos anteriores à pandemia. A elegibilidade dos doentes com DPOC para vacinação prioritária contra a COVID-19 pode ter levado a um aumento da codificação da DPOC nos CSP. Contudo, a proporção de doentes com DPOC e FEV1 nos três anos anteriores diminuiu. Os indicadores de DPOC e FEV1 estavam a aumentar após o último pico mais significativo de casos em Jan-Fev/2022, mas em Set/2022 ainda não tinham atingido os valores pré-pandemia. Em Set/2021, 47,1% dos utentes tinham registo de pelo menos uma consulta de acompanhamento. Um ano depois apenas metade (51,3%) tinha um registo. Conclusões: A análise dos indicadores de DPOC permitiu confirmar o impacto significativo da COVID-19 na gestão da DPOC nos CSP. As restrições nas consultas e a dificuldade na realização da espirometria limitaram as oportunidades de diagnóstico; por outro lado, a pandemia aumentou a consciencialização da população sobre a vacinação e as doenças respiratórias. Para além do objetivo principal desta análise, os resultados permitem refletir sobre a necessidade de melhor identificar, acompanhar e gerir os doentes com DPOC.

Abstract Introduction: The COVID-19 pandemic brought challenges and difficulties that impacted the healthcare system, namely the routine management and diagnosis of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) at primary healthcare (PHC) units. Objectives: To reflect on the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on COPD management at PHC. Methods: We analyzed the publicly available COPD indicators, considering monthly data between Dec/2018 and Feb/2020 (pre-pandemic), Mar/2020, and Jun/2021 (pandemic), and Jul/2021 and Sep/2022 (post-general population vaccination against COVID-19). Results: Before the pandemic, there was a growing number of COPD patients in PHC, which reversed after the beginning of the pandemic and remained until the end of 2020. A fast increase was observed during 2021, with a significant decrease in early 2022, coincident with the new pandemic peak. This indicator was stabilizing to values slightly lower than before the COVID-19 pandemic. The eligibility of COPD patients for priority COVID-19 vaccination could have led to an increased COPD codification in PHC. However, the proportion of patients with COPD and FEV1 in the previous three years decreased. The COPD and FEV1 indicators were rising after the last most significant peak of cases in Jan-Feb/2022 but in Sep/2022 were not yet reaching pre-pandemic values. In Sep/2021, 47.1% of PHC patients had a registry of at least one surveillance consultation. Only half of PHC patients (51.3%) had a registry one year later. Conclusions: The analysis of the COPD indicators confirmed the significant impact of COVID-19 on COPD management at PHC. The restrictions of patients’ visits and difficulty in conducting spirometry limited diagnostic opportunities; on the other hand, the pandemic increased population awareness of vaccination and respiratory diseases. Beyond this analysis’s primary objective, these results led us to become aware of the need to better identify, follow, and manage COPD patients.

Abstract Objective: To evaluate the effect of high-fidelity simulation of pediatric emergencies compared to case-based discussion on the development of self-confidence, theoretical knowledge, clinical reasoning, communication, attitude, and leadership in undergraduate medical students. Methods: 33 medical students were allocated to two teaching methods: high-fidelity simulation (HFS, n = 18) or case-based discussion (CBD, n = 15). Self-confidence and knowledge tests were applied before and after the interventions and the effect of HFS on both outcomes was estimated with mixed-effect models. An Objective Structured Clinical Examination activity was conducted after the interventions, while two independent raters used specific simulation checklists to assess clinical reasoning, communication, attitude, and leadership. The effect of HFS on these outcomes was estimated with linear and logistic regressions. The effect size was estimated with the Hedge’sg. Results: Both groups had an increase in self-confidence (HFS 59.1 × 93.6, p < 0.001; CDB 50.5 × 88.2, p < 0.001) and knowledge scores over time (HFS 45.1 × 63.2, p = 0.001; CDB 43.5 × 56.7, p-value < 0.01), but no difference was observed between groups (group*time effect in the mixed effect models adjusted for the student ranking) for both tests (p = 0.6565 and p = 0.3331, respectively). The simulation checklist scores of the HFS group were higher than those of the CBD group, with large effect sizes in all domains (Hedges g 1.15 to 2.20). Conclusion: HFS performed better than CBD in developing clinical reasoning, communication, attitude, and leadership in undergraduate medical students in pediatric emergency care, but no significant difference was observed in self-confidence and theoretical knowledge.

Abstract Objective: To evaluate exclusive breastfeeding at discharge and hospital length-of-stay in pre-term infants undergoing or not the Kangaroo-Mother Care Method (KMC). Methods: A retrospective cohort study was conducted including preterm infants < 1800 g admitted to the neonatal unit of a KMC reference center. The infants were grouped into the KMC group and the non-KMC group. Multiple logistic and Poisson regressions were performed to evaluate the association between the KMC and two outcomes, exclusive breastfeeding at discharge, and hospital length-of-stay, adjusted for potential confounders. Results: 115 mother-infant dyads were included, 78 in the KMC group and 37 in the non-KMC group. In the bivariate analysis, the KMC group had a lower prevalence of maternal adverse conditions (6% vs. 32%, p < 0.001), a higher number of prenatal visits (median 6 vs. 3.5, p < 0.001), higher gestational ages (median 32 vs. 31 weeks, p < 0.05), higher birth weights (median 1530 vs. 1365 g, p < 0.01), a lower prevalence of necrotizing enterocolitis (3.8% vs. 16.2%, p < 0.05), parenteral nutrition (50% vs. 73%, p < 0.05), and deep vascular access (49.7% vs. 78.4%, p < 0.01), a higher prevalence of exclusive breastfeeding (65% vs. 8%, p < 0.001) and a shorter length of hospital stay (median 28 vs. 42 days, p < 0.001). In the multiple regression analysis, the KMC group was 23 times more likely to be exclusively breastfed at discharge (OR = 23.1; 95% CI = 4,85–109,93) and had a 19% reduction in the hospital length-of-stay (IDR = 0.81; 95% CI = 0.76–0.86) compared to the non-KMC group. Conclusions: The KMC is associated with better short-term neonatal outcomes and should be encouraged in all Brazilian maternity hospitals.

ABSTRACT The bacterial canker, caused by Xanthomonas citri pv. viticola, is the most important bacterial disease of grapevines cultivated in tropical areas. The objectives of this study were to select grape hybrids resistant to bacterial canker based on genotypic values and to evaluate the response of seedless grape hybrids to artificial infection with bacterial canker. Two experiments were conducted. The field experiment (Experiment I) was conducted with 569 hybrids, evaluated for symptoms of bacterial canker, in the absence of an experimental design, using a single individual of each genotype. Experiment II was conducted in a greenhouse, where ten seedless grape hybrids were evaluated in terms of incubation period, incidence, severity, and area under the progress curve of bacterial canker disease incidence, in a completely randomized design. The use of the residual maximum likelihood/best unbiased linear prediction methodology allowed the selection of 40 grape hybrids with lower genotypic values for resistance to bacterial canker. The CPATSA 49.25 and CPATSA 49.86 hybrids showed greater resistance to bacterial canker in all epidemiological parameters evaluated under greenhouse conditions.

Researchers developed a checklist for safe bathing in critically ill patients consisting of 41 items, which were submitted to the apparent and content validation process, evaluated by eleven judges, and interobserver reliability. For reliability analysis, the instrument was applied in 54 bed bath procedures in the ICU; Kappa and CHF tests were used. Results: In the apparent and content validation, adjustments were made according to the judges’ suggestions. Kappa values ranged from moderate to almost perfect (0.462 to 0.962), and, in some items, there was 100% agreement; the reliability of the instrument was excellent (ICC = 0.962). Conclusion: The instrument proved to be dependable and easy to apply. Its use will contribute to safe bed bathing and subsidize interventions aimed at increasing the quality of care.

RESUMEN Objetivo: desarrollar y validar el serious game para la enseñanza-aprendizaje sobre la prevención de infecciones del sitio quirúrgico. Método: estudio metodológico realizado por etapas: desarrollo y validación del contenido del juego, basado en simulación virtual (preparación, participación y debriefing) y desafíos; desarrollo de juegos, siguiendo las etapas de concepto, preproducción, prototipo, producción y postproducción; y validación de usabilidad mediante el instrumento Heuristic Evaluation for Digital Educational Games. Para evaluar el contenido y usabilidad del juego participaron 12 enfermeros y 08 expertos en juegos digitales. Resultados: el guión del serious game contenía tres períodos pre, intra y postoperatorios secuenciales, centrándose en intervenciones de enfermería destinadas a prevenir infecciones del sitio quirúrgico. Se obtuvo un Coeficiente de Validez de Contenido superior a 0,80 para el contenido del juego. En cuanto a la evaluación de la jugabilidad mediante las heurísticas evaluadas, todas las afirmaciones presentes en el guión del juego fueron consideradas adecuadas y se implementaron ajustes en cuanto a retroalimentación, acceso al marco teórico sobre prevención de infecciones del sitio quirúrgico, inclusión de imágenes en el material de estudio y orientación del jugador en la sesión de debriefing. Conclusión: el serious game desarrollado se consideró válido y potencial herramienta pedagógica en el área de enfermería para aprender a prevenir infecciones del sitio quirúrgico.

RESUMO Objetivo: desenvolver e validar serious game para o ensino-aprendizagem referente à prevenção de infecção de sítio cirúrgico. Método: estudo metodológico conduzido por etapas: desenvolvimento e validação do conteúdo do jogo, baseados na simulação virtual (preparação, participação e debriefing) e desafios; desenvolvimento do jogo, seguindo as etapas de conceito, pré-produção, protótipo, produção e pós-produção; e, validação da usabilidade, por meio do instrumento Heuristic Evaluation for Digital Educational Games. Para avaliação do conteúdo e usabilidade do jogo, contou-se com 12 enfermeiros e 08 especialistas em jogos digitais. Resultados: o script do serious game conteve três períodos sequenciais pré, intra e pós-operatório, com enfoque em intervenções de enfermagem voltadas para prevenção de infecção de sítio cirúrgico. Obteve-se um Coeficiente de Validade de Conteúdo acima de 0,80 para o conteúdo do jogo. Referente à avaliação da jogabilidade pelas heurísticas avaliadas, todas as afirmativas presentes no script do jogo foram consideradas adequadas e houve a implementação de ajustes no que se refere ao feedback, ao acesso ao referencial teórico sobre prevenção de infecção de sítio cirúrgico, à inclusão de imagens no material de estudo e ao direcionamento do jogador à sessão de debriefing. Conclusão: o serious game desenvolvido foi considerado válido e potencial ferramenta pedagógica na área de enfermagem para aprendizagem da prevenção de infecção de sítio cirúrgico.

ABSTRACT Objective: To develop and validate serious game for teaching-learning regarding surgical site infection prevention. Method: This is a methodological study conducted in stages: game content development and validity based on virtual simulation (preparation, participation and debriefing) and challenges; game development, following the concept, pre-production, prototype, production and post-production stages; and usability validity, using an instrument called Heuristic Evaluation for Digital Educational Games. To assess the game content and usability, 12 nurses and 08 experts in digital games were involved. Results: The serious game script contained three sequential pre-, intra- and post-operative periods, focusing on nursing interventions aimed at preventing surgical site infections. A Content Validity Coefficient above 0.80 was obtained for game content. Regarding gameplay assessment using the assessed heuristics, all statements present in game script were considered adequate, and adjustments were implemented regarding feedback, access to the theoretical framework on preventing surgical site infections, the inclusion of images in the study material and directing players to the debriefing session. Conclusion: The serious game developed was considered valid and a potential pedagogical tool in nursing for learning how to prevent surgical site infections.

ABSTRACT: Purple-fleshed sweet potato is a tuber rich in anthocyanins, which are phenolic pigments that confer color and present bioactive capacity. Moreover, its incorporation into dairy products can bring technological and functional benefits. Thus, this article evaluated the impact of the addition of lyophilized purple-fleshed sweet potato powder- LP (0% - Control, 2%, and 4%) on the physical, chemical, and technological characteristics of Greek yogurt. LP showed in vitro antioxidant and bioactive capacity by DPPH (20.64 ± 1.61 μmol TE g-1), FRAP (112.93 ± 4.38 μmol TE g-1), total phenolic content (103.66 ± 3.35 mg GAE g-1), and total anthocyanin content (51.10 ± 1.87 mg cyanidin 3-glucoside 100 g-1). Additionally, the assays demonstrated that the LP has 16.82 ± 0.63% of resistant starch. The fortification of Greek yogurt with LP reduced the syneresis, indicating that LP increased the water retention capacity. LP also inhibited the post-acidification process, increasing apparent viscosity, hardness, and gumminess, and promoting a stable pink coloration throughout the storage (P < 0.05). At the 4% level, the yogurt was firmer and showed greater chewiness, which is highly desirable for Greek yogurt. Therefore, the results suggested that lyophilized purple-fleshed sweet potato powder is a potential multifunctional natural ingredient.

RESUMO: Batata-doce de polpa roxa é um tubérculo rico em antocianinas, as quais são pigmentos fenólicos que conferem cor e apresentam capacidade bioativa. Além disso, sua incorporação em produtos lácteos pode trazer benefícios tecnológicos e funcionais. Desta forma, este estudo teve como objetivo avaliar o impacto da adição de pó liofilizado de batata-doce de polpa roxa - LP (0% - Controle, 2% e 4%) nas características físicas, químicas e tecnológicas de iogurte tipo Grego. LP apresentou capacidade antioxidante e bioativa in vitro para DPPH (20.64 ± 1.61 μmol TE g-1), FRAP (112.93 ± 4.38 μmol TE g-1), teor de compostos fenólicos totais (103.66 ± 3.35 mg GAE g-1) e teor de antocianinas totais (51.10 ± 1.87 mg cyanidin 3-glucoside 100 g-1). Adicionalmente, os ensaios demonstraram que o LP possui 16,82 ± 0,63% de amido resistente. A fortificação do iogurte Grego com LP reduziu a sinérese, indicando que LP aumentou a capacidade de retenção de água, LP também inibiu o processo pós-acidificação, aumentando a viscosidade aparente, a dureza e a gomosidade, e promovendo uma coloração rosa estável durante todo o armazenamento (P < 0,05). No nível de 4%, o iogurte apresentou-se mais firme e com maior mastigabilidade, o que é altamente desejável para o iogurte tipo Grego. Assim, os resultados sugerem que o pó liofilizado de batata-doce de polpa roxa é um potencial ingrediente natural multifuncional.

RESUMO OBJETIVO Compreender potencialidades e limites do cuidado em obesidade infantil na perspectiva da integralidade, no contexto da Atenção Primária à Saúde, em municípios brasileiros. MÉTODOS Adotou-se a abordagem qualitativa, com aplicação, em 11 municípios das cinco regiões brasileiras, de um formulário eletrônico de caráter dissertativo, derivado dos quatro eixos da integralidade definidos por Ayres (necessidades, finalidades, articulações e interações). RESULTADOS Dentre as potências para o cuidado integral, observou-se: a oferta de serviços em diferentes níveis de atenção; a relevância de programas intersetoriais no desenvolvimento de ações voltadas à multidimensionalidade da obesidade infantil; a implementação de estratégias de sistematização do cuidado e ferramentas que estimulem a ampliação do diálogo e a humanização; e a articulação intersetorial para criação de respostas adequadas às necessidades ampliadas das crianças e suas famílias. Enquanto limitações, estão: a centralização das ações nos profissionais nutricionistas e no âmbito assistencial; a não priorização da obesidade infantil nas agendas da saúde; e a insuficiência dos profissionais capacitados para lidar com a complexidade da obesidade. CONCLUSÕES Os achados sugerem que as práticas no cuidado da obesidade infantil, para que sejam transformadoras, precisam ser entendidas no âmbito da integralidade. E isso inclui (re)pensar políticas públicas, práticas profissionais, organização dos processos de trabalho para serem, de fato, mais inclusivas, participativas, dialógicas, humanizadas, solidárias, justas e, portanto, eficazes.

ABSTRACT OBJECTIVE To understand the potential and limits of care for childhood obesity from the perspective of comprehensiveness, in the context of Primary Health Care, in Brazilian municipalities. METHODS A qualitative approach was adopted, with an electronic form of a dissertative nature being applied in 11 municipalities in the five Brazilian regions, derived from the four axes of comprehensiveness defined by Ayres (needs, purposes, articulations, and interactions). RESULTS Among the strengths for comprehensive care, the following were observed: the provision of services at different levels of care; the relevance of intersectoral programs in the development of actions aimed at the multidimensionality of childhood obesity; the implementation of strategies for systematizing care and tools that encourage the expansion of dialogue and humanization; and intersectoral coordination to create appropriate responses to the expanded needs of children and their families. Limitations include: the centralization of actions in nutrition professionals and in the care sphere; the failure to prioritize childhood obesity in health agendas; and the lack of trained professionals to deal with the complexity of obesity. CONCLUSIONS The findings suggest that child obesity care practices, in order to be transformative, need to be understood in the context of comprehensiveness. And this includes (re)thinking public policies, professional practices, and the organization of work processes so that they are, in fact, more inclusive, participatory, dialogical, humanized, supportive, fair, and, therefore, effective.

Objetivo: avaliar a eficácia de um programa no aumento das estratégias de coping focadas no problema e na emoção em bombeiros militares. Método: ensaio clínico randomizado, paralelo, com mascaramento simples. A amostra constituiu-se de 51 participantes no grupo intervenção e 49 no controle. O grupo intervenção recebeu o programa interventivo incluindo as estratégias de coping pautadas na Classificação das Intervenções de Enfermagem, com duração de seis semanas consecutivas, um dia por semana. O grupo controle seguiu a rotina da Unidade de Serviço. Para as análises utilizou-se estatística descritiva, teste T de Student com correção de Welch e o teste de Mann-Whitney. A magnitude do efeito da intervenção foi calculada com o índice d de Cohen. Considerou-se valor p ≤0,05%. Resultados: na análise da média da diferença entre os escores nos grupos, as médias do grupo intervenção aumentaram significativamente para as estratégias de coping : suporte social ( p = 0,009), aceitação da responsabilidade ( p = 0,03), resolução de problemas ( p = 0,05) e reavaliação positiva ( p = 0,05). O impacto da intervenção apresentou magnitude moderada para o suporte social (d = 0,54). Método: ensayo clínico aleatorizado, paralelo, con enmascaramiento simple. La muestra se constituyó de 51 participantes en el grupo intervención y 49 en el control. El grupo intervención recibió el programa interventivo incluyendo las estrategias de coping basadas en la Clasificación de las Intervenciones de Enfermería, con una duración de seis semanas consecutivas, un día por semana. El grupo control siguió la rutina de la Unidad de Servicio. Para los análisis se utilizó estadística descriptiva, test T de Student con corrección de Welch y el test de Mann-Whitney. La magnitud del efecto de la intervención se calculó con el índice d de Cohen. Se consideró valor p≤0,05%. Resultados: en el análisis del promedio de la diferencia entre los puntajes en los grupos, los promedios del grupo intervención aumentaron significativamente para las estrategias de coping : soporte social ( p = 0,009), aceptación de la responsabilidad ( p = 0,03), resolución de problemas ( p = 0,05) y reevaluación positiva ( p = 0,05). El impacto de la intervención presentó magnitud moderada para el soporte social ( d = 0,54). Objective: to evaluate the effectiveness of a program in increasing coping strategies focused on military firefighters’ problems and emotions. Method: randomized, parallel, single-masked clinical trial. The sample consisted of 51 participants in the intervention group and 49 in the control group. The intervention group received the intervention program including coping strategies based on the Nursing Interventions Classification, lasting six consecutive weeks, one day a week. The control group followed the Service Unit routine. Descriptive statistics, Student’s T test with Welch’s correction and the Mann-Whitney test were used for the analyses. The magnitude of the intervention effect was calculated using Cohen’s d index. A p-value of ≤0.05% was considered. Results: in the analysis of the mean difference between the scores in the groups, the means of the intervention group increased significantly for the coping strategies: social support (p = 0.009), acceptance of responsibility (p = 0.03), problem solving (p = 0.05) and positive reappraisal (p = 0.05). The impact of the intervention was moderate in magnitude for social support (d = 0.54). Conclusion: the intervention program enabled the increase of coping strategies focused on military firefighters’ problems and emotions. ReBEC: RBR-8dmbzc.

Objetivo: avaliar a efetividade de um vídeo educativo no conhecimento de pacientes hospitalizados acerca das práticas seguras no período perioperatório. Método: ensaio clínico randomizado, duplo-cego, realizado em hospital de ensino no interior de Minas Gerais. Foram alocados aleatoriamente 100 pacientes submetidos à cirurgia ortopédica eletiva (50 no grupo experimental e 50 no controle). O conhecimento do paciente foi avaliado por meio de questionário, construído pelos pesquisadores e validado por especialistas, antes e após a aplicação da intervenção (vídeo educativo) ou orientações-padrão. Adotou-se estatística descritiva para variáveis quantitativas e teste t de Student para amostras independentes na análise da média da diferença do conhecimento entre os grupos experimental e controle (α = 0,05). Resultados: participaram do estudo 100 pacientes, 50 no grupo experimental e 50 no controle. O grupo experimental apresentou ganho de conhecimento significativamente superior ( t =3.72 ±1,84; p <0,001) ao grupo controle. Obteve-se d de Cohen de 1,22, indicando grande magnitude do efeito. Conclusão: o vídeo educativo foi efetivo na melhora do conhecimento dos pacientes e pode contribuir com o enfermeiro, na prática de educação em saúde, na otimização do tempo e na disseminação do conhecimento quanto às práticas seguras no perioperatório. Método: ensayo clínico aleatorizado, doble ciego, realizado en un hospital docente en el interior de Minas Gerais. Se asignaron aleatoriamente 100 pacientes sometidos a cirugía ortopédica electiva (50 en el grupo experimental y 50 en el control). El conocimiento del paciente se evaluó mediante un cuestionario, construido por los investigadores y validado por especialistas, antes y después de la aplicación de la intervención (video educativo) o instrucciones estándar. Se adoptó estadística descriptiva para variables cuantitativas y prueba t de Student para muestras independientes en el análisis de la media de la diferencia de conocimiento entre los grupos experimental y control (α = 0,05). Resultados: participaron en el estudio 100 pacientes, 50 en el grupo experimental y 50 en el control. El grupo experimental mostró una ganancia de conocimiento significativamente superior ( t =3.72 ±1,84; p <0,001) al grupo control. Se obtuvo un d de Cohen de 1,22, indicando una gran magnitud del efecto. Conclusión: el video educativo fue efectivo en mejorar el conocimiento de los pacientes y puede contribuir con el enfermero, en la práctica de educación en salud, en la optimización del tiempo y en la difusión del conocimiento sobre las prácticas seguras en el perioperatorio. Objective: to assess the effectiveness of an educational video on hospitalized patients’ knowledge of safe practices in the perioperative period. Method: randomized, double-blind controlled trial carried out in a teaching hospital in the countryside of Minas Gerais. 100 participants undergoing elective orthopaedic surgery were randomly allocated (50 participants in the experimental group and 50 participants in the control group). Patient knowledge was assessed using a questionnaire constructed by the researchers and validated by specialists, before and after the intervention (educational video) or standard guidelines were applied. Descriptive statistics were used for quantitative variables and Student’s t-test for independent samples to analyze the mean difference in knowledge between the experimental and control groups (α = 0.05). Results: 100 participants took part in the study, 50 participants in the experimental group and 50 participants in the control group. The experimental group showed a significantly higher gain in knowledge (t =3.72 ±1.84; p<0.001) than the control group. Cohen’s d was 1.22, indicating a large magnitude of the effect. Conclusion: the educational video was effective in improving patients’ knowledge and can contribute to nurses in the practice of health education, optimizing time and disseminating knowledge about safe practices in the perioperative period. RESUMO: O grão-de-bico (Cicer arietinum L.; GB) é um dos pulses mais consumidos no mundo. A fermentação com bactérias ácido-láticas (BAL) é uma estratégia eficaz para potencializar a qualidade nutricional e tecnológica de farinhas de GB, além de reduzir os teores de fatores antinutricionais. Desta forma, o objetivo do presente trabalho foi avaliar o efeito da fermentação com Lactobacillus casei ou por co-cultura na capacidade antioxidante e nas propriedades tecno-funcionais de farinha de GB. O GB foi fermentado a 28 °C por 96 h com Lactobacillus Casei ou a co-cultura, resultando nas amostras GBLC e GBCC, respectivamente, seco a 50 oC e moído para obtenção das farinhas. A fermentação reduziu a Aw e os parâmetros de cor (L*, a* e b*) das farinhas fermentadas (GBCC e GBLC). Nas propriedades tecno-funcionais, a farinha GBCC apresentou menor capacidade emulsificante (CE, 80%) e estabilidade da emulsão (EE, 82,50%). As farinhas GBLC e GBCC apresentaram diferenças significativas no poder de inchamento apenas a 25 °C e redução no índice de solubilidade em água (ISA) em todas as temperaturas estudadas. A fermentação com BAL reduziu a capacidade antioxidante das farinhas GBLC e GBCC determinada pelo método DPPH, já no método FRAP houve um aumento para GBCC e uma redução para GBLC. Quanto ao teor de fenólicos totais (TFT), observou-se um aumento de 231% da farinha de GBCC e 164% da farinha de GBLC. Assim, conclui-se que a fermentação com Lactobacillus Casei e co-cultura afetou a Aw, a cor, CE, EE , ISA, a capacidade antioxidante pelos ensaios de DPPH e FRAP e o TFT das farinhas fermentadas.

ABSTRACT: Chickpea (Cicer arietinum L.; GB) is one of the most consumed pulses worldwide. Fermentation with lactic acid bacteria (LAB) has been a strategy to improve the nutritional and technological quality of chickpea flours, in addition to reducing the levels of antinutritional factors. Thus, this study evaluated the effect of fermentation with Lacticaseibacillus casei or co-culture on water activity (Aw), color, antioxidant capacity, and techno-functional properties of chickpea flour. Chickpeas were fermented at 28 °C for 96 h with Lactobacillus Casei or co-culture, resulting in the samples GBLC and GBCC, respectively, dried at 50 °C, and ground to obtain the flours. Fermentation reduced (P < 0.05) the Wa and color parameters (L*, a*, and b*) of the fermented flours (GBCC and GBLC). In terms of techno-functional properties, GBCC flours showed lower emulsifying capacity (EC, 80%) and emulsion stability (ES, 82.50%). GBLC and GBCC flours showed significant differences (P < 0.05) in swelling power only at 25 °C and a reduction in water solubility index (WSI) at all studied temperatures. LAB fermentation reduced the antioxidant capacity of GBLC e GBCC flours determined by the DPPH method, while in the FRAP method, there was an increase for GBCC and a reduction for GBLC. For the total phenolic content (TPC), there was an increase of 231% for GBCC flour and 164% for GBLC flour. Thus, it was concluded that the fermentation with Lactobacillus Casei and co-culture affected the Wa, color, EC, ES, WSI, the antioxidant capacity by the DPPH and FRAP assays, and the TPC of the fermented flours.

The amino-quinazoline scaffold stands out as a privileged structure in Medicinal Chemistry, due to its pleiotropic pharmacological profile. It has been explored in the design and development of novel drug candidates for several therapeutic applications, including antihypertensive, anti-inflammatory, antipsychotic, anti-Alzheimer, anticancer, antiviral, antibiotic, and antiparasitic treatments, among others. The therapeutic value of amino-quinazoline drugs was first demonstrated with the use of alpha 1-adrenoceptor antagonists, such as prazosin, doxazosin and terazosin. These drugs were initially approved for the treatment of hypertension and later for the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia. Several amino-quinazoline kinase inhibitors were introduced into the clinic as innovative therapeutic alternatives for cancer treatment after the U.S. Food and Drug Administration approved gefitinib in 2003 as a novel epidermal growth factor receptor inhibitor drug for non-small cell lung cancer. More recently, in 2021, the kinase inhibitor belumosudil was launched as a third-line therapy for adult and pediatric patients with chronic graft-versus-host disease. This article reviews the synthetic preparation methods and pharmacological activities of bioactive amino-quinazolines described in recent decades.
