Abstract The objective of this study was to carry out an inventory of the vascular plant species of Serra do Jatobá in the municipality of Milagres, Bahia. The survey included species of all habits and respective degrees of endemism, phytogeographic domains and threat categories, to contribute data about the flora of the Bahia semiarid region to enable management and preservation of species, to support the future creation of conservation units in Bahia inselbergs. We recorded 317 species, 208 genera and 71 families, with predominance of species belonging to the Bromeliaceae, Fabaceae, Euphorbiaceae and Asteraceae families. We identified 53 endemic species of the Caatinga, and 18 exclusive to the Atlantic Forest. Of these species, 24 are endemic to Bahia and five species are considered vulnerable. The floristic survey of Serra do Jatobá demonstrated high biodiversity, reinforcing the importance of ongoing research in the area for the implementation of a conservation unit.

Commelinaceae has a neotropical distribution, mostly tropical, some temperate, occurring throughout the Brazilian territory and has a complex floral morphology, presenting deliquescent flowers. To contribute to the taxonomic knowledge of this family, this study aimed to identify and morphologically characterize the species that occur in the forest fragments of São José Plant, located in Igarassu, Pernambuco State, northeastern Brazil, continuing the series of monographs for the area. Collecting expeditions were carried out in the area between January to November 2019, in addition to study of herbarium material. For the study area, five species were found, belonging to the genera Commelina and Dichorisandra. Identification key, descriptions, illustrations, and comments on geographic distribution and habitats are presented.

Resumo O gênero Pentacalia pertence à tribo Senecioneae. É representado por aproximadamente 160 espécies distribuídas, predominantemente, nos Andes. As espécies de Pentacalia são caracterizadas pelo hábito escandente, folhas normalmente alternas, capitulescência axilar ou terminal, capítulos homógamos ou heterógamos, flores do raio comumente amarelas, flores do disco amareladas, creme ou esbranquiçadas, base das anteras sagitadas ou caudadas e cipselas com cinco a dez costelas. O objetivo do presente estudo foi o de realizar o tratamento taxonômico de Pentacalia no Brasil, onde o gênero está representado por duas espécies, P. desiderabilis e P. tropicalis, oriundas do Domínio Floresta Atlântica. São apresentadas descrições detalhadas, discussões taxonômicas, distribuição geográfica, uma chave de identificação, ilustrações e um novo registro de P. tropicalis para a região Nordeste. Além disso, três nomes (Senecio desiderabilis, S. ellipticus e S. tropicalis) são lectotipificados.

Abstract The genus Pentacalia belongs to the tribe Senecioneae. It is represented by approximately 160 species predominantly distributed in the Andes. Species of Pentacalia are characterized by having a scandent habit, usually alternate leaves, axillary or terminal capitulescence, homogamous or heterogamous capitula, commonly yellow ray-florets, yellowish, creamy, or whitish disc-florets, sagittate to caudate anther-bases, and cypselae with five to ten ribs. The aim of the present study was to perform a taxonomic treatment of Pentacalia in Brazil, where it is represented by two species, P. desiderabilis and P. tropicalis, from the Atlantic Forest Domain. Detailed descriptions, taxonomic discussions, geographical distributions, an identification key, illustrations and a new record of P. tropicalis for the Northeast Region are presented. Moreover, three names (Senecio desiderabilis, S. ellipticus, and S. tropicalis) are lectotypified.

RESUMO A família Cactaceae inclui 1.850 espécies distribuídas primariamente no continente americano, sendo o Brasil o terceiro maior centro de diversidade da família, com 277 espécies. Neste último centro de diversidade, o Parque Nacional de Boa Nova (PNBN), localizado no leste do Estado da Bahia, Brasil, possui uma área com cerca de 12.065 ha, incluindo um ecótono sentido leste-oeste, com áreas de Mata Atlântica sendo substituídas por mata-de-cipó e, mais a oeste, pela Caatinga. Como parte da proposta do Plano de Ação Nacional para conservação das Cactáceas de 2011, este trabalho apresenta o estudo taxonômico de Cactaceae ocorrentes no PNBN, e tem como objetivo ampliar o conhecimento da flora local e das Unidades de Conservação do Estado da Bahia. O material foi coletado em quatro expedições de coleta durante um ano, em trilhas aleatórias percorrendo os diversos ambientes do parque. Foram registrados 10 gêneros e 15 espécies: Arrojadoa penicillata, Brasilicereus phaeacanthus, Brasiliopuntia brasiliensis, Cereus jamacaru, Cereus sp., Melocactus ernestii, Pereskia aculeata, P. bahiensis, Pilosocereus catingicola, P. pentaedrophorussubsp.robustus, Rhipsalis hileiabaiana, R. russellii, Stephanocereus leucostele, Tacinga funalis eT. werneri. No âmbito do PNBN, as vegetações de mata-de-cipó e Caatinga foram as que apresentaram o maior número de espécies, com oito e cinco espécies, respectivamente, enquanto a Mata Atlântica apresentou uma única espécie.

ABSTRACT Comprising 1,850 accepted species, the Cactaceae are distributed primarily in the Americas. Brazil is the third largest diversity center for the family, with 277 species. Within this last center, the Parque Nacional de Boa Nova (PNBN), in eastern Bahia State, occupies an area of 12,065 ha. The vegetation of the PNBN includes a west-east ecotone where the Mata Atlântica is replaced by mata-de-cipó and, futher to the west, by Caatinga. As part of the Cactaceae Action plan of 2011, this work presents a taxonomic account of the Cactaceae found in the PNBN, aiming to expand the knowledge of the local flora of this area. Four collecting trips were carried out and the material was collected in random tracks throughout one year in different environments of the Park. Ten genera and 15 species were recorded: Arrojadoa penicillata, Brasilicereus phaeacanthus, Brasiliopuntia brasiliensis, Cereus jamacaru, Cereus sp., Melocactus ernestii, Pereskia aculeata, P. bahiensis, Pilosocereus catingicola, P. pentaedrophorusssp.robustus, Rhipsalis hileiabaiana, R. russellii, Stephanocereus leucostele, Tacinga funalis andT. werneri. Among the different vegetation types found in the PNBN, the mata-de-cipó and the Caatinga had a higher number of species, with eight and five species respectively, while the Mata Atlântica had a single species.

RESUMO (A família Rubiaceae no Parque Nacional de Boa Nova, Estado da Bahia, Brasil). Rubiaceae ocupa o quarto lugar em diversidade de espécies entre as Angiospermas. É uma família cosmopolita, concentrada principalmente nas regiões tropicais e subtropicais, com cerca de 13.765 espécies, distribuídas em 611 gêneros. No Brasil, Rubiaceae apresenta 1.406 espécies, distribuídas em 126 gêneros. O Parque Nacional de Boa Nova (PNBN) está situado na região nordeste do Planalto da Conquista, Estado da Bahia e possui áreas de Mata Atlântica e Caatinga, além da transição representada por Floresta Estacional Semideciual. O objetivo do presente trabalho foi realizar um levantamento das espécies de Rubiaceae ocorrentes no PNBN. Foram realizadas expedições de coleta entre 2012 e 2017, além de consulta a herbários. A família está representada por 29 gêneros e 60 espécies, das quais quatro espécies são prováveis novas espécies. A forma de vida mais representativa foi arbustiva (60,6%), seguida por herbácea (27,9%), trepadeira ou liana (4,9%), epifítica (3,3%) e arbórea (3,2%). Os caracteres importantes na identificação foram hábito, morfologia das estípulas, tipo de arranjo da inflorescência, prefloração, morfologia do estigma, número de óvulos e tipo de fruto. Considerando os resultados obtidos, pode-se concluir que o PNBN possui um número elevado de espécies de Rubiaceae, destacando o estudo como uma importante área para a conservação de espécies vegetais.

ABSTRACT (Rubiaceae in the Parque Nacional de Boa Nova, Bahia State, Brazil). Regarding the number of species, Rubiaceae is the fourth most diverse family among the Angiosperms. It is a cosmopolitan family, concentrated mainly in tropical and subtropical regions. With ca. 13,800 species in 611 genera, the occurrence of the family in Brazil is confirmed by 1,406 species and 126 genera. The Parque Nacional de Boa Nova (PNBN) is located in the Northeast region of the Planalto da Conquista, in the State of Bahia, and encompasses areas of the Atlantic Rainforest, Caatinga, and ecotonal Semideciduous Seasonal Forest, locally known as ‘agreste’ or ‘mata de cipó’. Among the Angiosperms of PNBN, the Rubiaceae stands out as one of the richest families. The main objective of this work was to survey the species of Rubiaceae from the PNBN. Field expeditions were carried out between 2012 and 2017, and the identification was performed using specialized bibliography and comparisons with authoritatively named herbarium collections. The family is represented by 29 genera and 60 species in the PNBN, of which four species are probably new to science. The most representative life-form was shrubby (60.6%), followed by herbaceous (27.9%), liana (4.9%), epiphytic (3.3%), and tree (3.2%). The main characters used for species identification were the habit, stipules morphology, inflorescence type, corolla aestivation, stigma morphology, number of ovules in the ovary, and type of fruit. Considering the results, it can be concluded that the PNBN outstands for its number of Rubiaceae species and the area should be highlighted as very important for plant conservation.

RESUMO O presente trabalho apresenta a lista de Angiospermas ocorrentes em um fragmento de Floresta Atlântica localizado no Recôncavo da Bahia. O estudo foi desenvolvido na Serra da Copioba, município de São Felipe, Estado da Bahia, Brasil. Expedições botânicas foram realizadas à área de estudo entre os anos de 2016 e 2017. As coletas foram realizadas a partir de trilhas por toda a região da Serra da Copioba. Todo o material coletado foi depositado no Herbário do Recôncavo da Bahia (HURB). Foram registradas 306 espécies, das quais 20,46% são endêmicas da Floresta Atlântca e 4,25% são endêmicas do Estado da Bahia. Os índices de endemismo somados a ocorrência exclusiva de plantas fazem com que a Serra da Copioba possa ser considerada um importante remanecente de Floresta Atlântica da região.

ABSTRACT This work presents a list of the Angiosperms that occurs in a fragment of the Atlantic Forest, Recôncavo da Bahia region. The present study was carried out in the Serra da Copioba in the municipality of São Felipe, Bahia State, Brazil. Botanical expeditions were carried out in the studied area between the years 2016 and 2017. The collections were performed in trails throughout the region of the Serra da Copioba. The specimens were housed in the Herbarium of the Recôncavo da Bahia (HURB). We found 306 species. The rates of endemism registered by this study are 20.46% for species occurring exclusively in the Atlantic Forest and 4.25% are endemic to Bahia State. The good indexes of endemism added to the exclusive occurrence of plants make the Copioba Mountain an important remnant of the Atlantic Forest of the region.

Resumo Na flora aquática do Brasil, o gênero Ludwigia apresenta ca. 48 espécies. A maioria das espécies de Ludwigia é anfíbia, apresentando uma grande plasticidade fenotípica, o que torna sua identificação complexa. O objetivo deste trabalho foi realizar um levantamento taxonômico e analisar caracteres diagnósticos na delimitação das espécies de Ludwigia ocorrentes no Recôncavo da Bahia. As coletas foram feitas de 2013 a 2016. Foram realizadas análises morfológicas, com ênfase nos frutos e sementes de materiais coletados e exsicatas de acervos de herbários da Bahia. Foram encontradas cinco espécies para o Recôncavo da Bahia: L. erecta, L. hyssopifolia, L. leptocarpa, L. octovalvis e L. peploides, sendo apresentada uma chave de identificação, além de descrições, fotos e comentários taxonômicos sobre as espécies. Os caracteres diagnósticos avaliados como mais relevantes neste estudo foram: forma e inserção dos óvulos nos lóculos, forma, dimensão e coloração das sementes e características do endocarpo e da rafe.

Abstract In the aquatic flora of Brazil, the genus Ludwigia presents ca. 48 species. Ludwigia species are mostly helophytes and exhibit great phenotypic plasticity, which makes their identification difficult. The objective of our work was to analyse diagnostic characters that are of importance for the delimitation of Ludwigia species occurring in the Recôncavo basin of Bahia. Collections were made from 2013 to 2016. Morphological analysis was carried out using material collected in the field and specimens studied in several Bahian herbaria. Five species were found for the Recôncavo of Bahia: L. erecta, L. hyssopifolia, L. leptocarpa, L. octovalvis and L. peploides. An identification key, descriptions, photos and taxonomic comments are presented. The following fruit and seed characters were considered as the most important diagnostic features: ovary characters, ovule shape and placentation types, seed shape, dimensions, colour, endocarp and raphe.

Resumo Este estudo apresenta a descrição detalhada, ilustração e comentários morfológicos das nove espécies de Commelinaceae registradas para as cangas da Serra dos Carajás, no estado do Pará: Commelina benghalensis, C. erecta, C. obliqua, C. rufipes, Dichorisandra hexandra, D. villosula, Floscopa peruviana, Murdannia nudiflora e Tripogandra diuretica.

Abstract This study provides detailed descriptions, illustrations, and morphological comments of the nine species of Commelinaceae registered for the cangas of Serra dos Carajás, Pará state: Commelina benghalensis, C. erecta, C. obliqua, C. rufipes, Dichorisandra hexandra, D. villosula, Floscopa peruviana, Murdannia nudiflora, and Tripogandra diuretica.
