ABSTRACT The objective of this work was to analyze the changes in the chemical attributes of an Ultisol irrigated with different dairy effluent dilutions. The experiment was set up using a randomized block design with five dilutions of dairy effluent (DE) in public water supply (PWS) (T1 - only PWS, T2 - 10% of DE plus PWS, T3 - 20% of DE plus PWS, T4 - 30% of DE plus PWS, and T5 - 40% of DE plus PWS). Soil samples were collected at five depths to quantify the attributes of pH, organic matter (OM), potassium (K), phosphorus (P) and electrical conductivity of the soil saturation extract (ECss). No significant effects of dairy effluent dilutions were found in altering the pH, OM and K+ values of the Ultisol after 240 days of application. However, there was a significant increase of P in T4, and of ECss mainly in the 0.10 to 0.20 m layer of T5.

RESUMO: Os sistemas de irrigação por gotejamento se destacam para a aplicação de águas residuárias, devido à minimização das perdas de água, dos riscos ambientais e de saúde pública, porém a obstrução dos emissores representa um problema potencial dessa tecnologia. Objetivou-se com este trabalho avaliar o coeficiente de variação de vazão (FCV) e o coeficiente de uniformidade estatístico (Us) de unidades gotejadoras abastecidas com percolado de aterro sanitário diluído em água de abastecimento. O experimento foi conduzido sob delineamento inteiramente casualizado no esquema de parcelas subdivididas, tendo nas parcelas os tipos de gotejadores (G1 não autocompensante; e G2, G3 e G4 autocompensantes) e nas subparcelas os tempos de avaliação (0, 20, 40, 60, 80, 100, 120, 140 e 160 horas), com quatro repetições. Os valores de FCV, CSU e das características físico-químicas e biológicas do percolado de aterro sanitário diluído foram determinadas a cada 20 horas, até completar 160 horas de operação das unidades gotejadoras. A bioincrustação proporcionou maiores alterações nos valores de FCV e CSU da unidade gotejadora com gotejador G1 (não autocompensante) em relação às unidades dotadas dos gotejadores G2, G3 e G4 (autocompensantes). O gotejador G3 foi o mais adequado na aplicação do percolado de aterro sanitário diluído.

ABSTRACT: Drip irrigation systems stand out for the use of wastewater, by minimizing water losses and risks to the environment and public health, however, the clogging of emitters is a potential problem in this technology. The objective of this study was to evaluate the flow coefficient of variation (FCV) and the coefficient of statistical uniformity (CSU) of drip irrigation units operating with water-diluted landfill leachate. The experiment was conducted in a completely randomized split-plot design, with emitter types in the plots (G1 - non-pressure compensating, and G2, G3 and G4 - pressure compensating) and evaluation times in the subplots (0, 20, 40, 60 80, 100, 120, 140 and 160 hours), with four replications. The FCV, CSU and physicochemical and biological characteristic values of the dilute landfill leachate were determined every 20 hours to complete 160 hours of operation of the drip units. The biofouling caused major value changes in the FCV and the CSU of the drip unit with the G1 emitter (non-pressure compensating) compared to the units with the G2, G3 and G4 emitters (pressure compensating). The G3 emitter was the most adequate for applying the dilute landfill leachate.

A aplicação de esgoto doméstico tratado é uma forma efetiva de controle da poluição ambiental, sendo uma alternativa viável para aumentar a disponibilidade hídrica nas regiões áridas e semiáridas. O presente estudo objetivou analisar a produção de milho (Zea mays L) fertirrigado com esgoto doméstico primário do Assentamento Rural Milagres em Apodi-RN. No período experimental as características avaliadas na cultura do milho foram: altura de planta (AP), diâmetro do caule (DC), número de folhas (NF), peso médio de espiga com e sem palha (PMECP), (PMESP), peso úmido e seco de grãos (PUG), (PSG). Os resultados do estudo indicaram que a fertirrigação com esgoto doméstico primário proporcionou maiores valores de altura de planta (AP), diâmetro do caule (DC), número de folhas (NF), peso de espiga com palha (PMECP), peso de espiga sem palha (PMESP), peso úmido dos grãos (PUG), peso seco dos grãos (PSG) e produtividade de grãos em relação às mesmas características obtidas com água do poço artesiano. O uso de esgoto doméstico consiste em uma fonte de nutriente para produção agrícola.

The application of treated domestic wastewater is an effective way to control environmental pollution, and is a viable option for increasing water availability in arid and semiarid regions. This study analyzed the production of maize (Zea mays L) fertilized with primary sewage at the rural settlement of Milagres in Apodi-RN. The study evaluated the following characteristics of maize: plant height, stem diameter, number of leaves, average ear weight with and without straw, wet and dry grain weight. The study found that fertigation with primary sewage resulted in higher values of plant height (PH), stem diameter, number of leaves, husked ear weight, ear weight without straw, wet weight of grains, dry weight of grains and grain yield compared to the same characteristics when artesian well water was used. Domestic sewage provides a source of nutrients for agricultural production.

Os objetivos deste trabalho foram avaliar os efeitos de faixas de guandu (Cajanus cajan) e da incorporação da biomassa proveniente de sua poda na fertilidade do solo e na produtividade de três hortaliças sob cultivo orgânico. O delineamento usado foi de blocos casualizados completos em esquema de parcelas subsubdivididas com três repetições. As produtividades de beterraba, cenoura e feijão-de-vagem não foram afetadas pelos tratamentos. Nas parcelas onde não houve incorporação da biomassa de guandu, o balanço de nitrogênio no sistema foi negativo, ao passo que com a incorporação, esse balanço foi positivo. Embora tenha ocorrido balanço positivo para o fósforo nas parcelas sem a incorporação de biomassa de guandu, houve um aumento significativo na absorção desse elemento pelas hortaliças quando o material foi incorporado. O sistema de cultivo em aléias de guandu pode representar uma prática vantajosa para os produtores orgânicos, por contribuir na manutenção da fertilidade do solo.

The objectives of this study were to evaluate the efficiency of pigeonpea (Cajanus cajan) biomass incorporation to the soil as well as the effect of presence or absence of pigeonpea hedgerows on soil fertility and productivity of three vegetables, beet, carrot and dwarf green bean. Samples were randomly taken in a block design with three replications for each crop. In the field, no other fertilization treatment was applied. In plots without biomass incorporation, nitrogen showed negative balance, whereas in the field with biomass incorporation a high positive N-balance was found. Concerning phosphorus, positive balances were determined in plots without biomass incorporation, however, the uptake of P increased significantly after biomass incorporation in all crops used. The results indicate that pigeonpea alley cropping system may represent an advantageous option for organic farmers to maintain or to improve soil fertility.
