Resumen: Este artículo tiene como objetivo reflexionar acerca de las experiencias cotidianas y de las interacciones sociales de brasileños en Italia y otros países de Europa durante la pandemia de covid-19 en los años 2020 y 2021, que trajo muchas transformaciones en los escenarios internacionales de movilidad y exigió la inmovilidad por cuestiones de salud pública y control de circulación del virus SARSCOV-2. La investigación la realicé por medios virtuales, aplicando dos cuestionarios mediante Google Forms, uno en 2020 y otro en 2021. Las solicitudes de participación las hice por medio de redes de contactos (Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram, correos electrónicos y otras), en los que presenté los objetivos y los cuidados éticos presentes. La imposibilidad de ir y venir, y en algunos casos incluso de salir de casa durante el periodo más tenso de la pandemia, fue narrada como una experiencia impactante en sus vidas cotidianas.

Abstract: This article aims to reflect on the daily experiences and social interactions of Brazilians in Italy and other countries of Europe during the covid-19 pandemic, in the years 2020 and 2021. The pandemic, which began in January 2020, brought many changes to international scenarios of mobility and required immobility in the name of public health and controlling the spread of the SARS - CoV-2 virus. In the research presented here I used digital media to apply two questionnaires, via Google Forms, in 2020 and 2021. Invitations to participate in the research were extended through networks of contacts on the internet (Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram, etc.), presenting the research, its objectives, and the ethical considerations that applied. Not being allowed to come and go as usual and, in some cases, not even being able to leave the house, during the most intense period of the pandemic, was described as a shocking experience in their daily lives.

Resumo Este artigo é resultado de pesquisa etnográfica que temos desenvolvido entre/com ítalo-brasileiros em Santa Maria e cidades da Quarta Colônia de Imigração Italiana/RS, Brasil. Nosso objetivo é analisar as dinâmicas envolvidas no processo de reconhecimento legal da cidadania italiana, bem como o valor atribuído ao passaporte italiano. Observamos que o passaporte, para além de um documento (objeto), cristaliza valores afetivos e simbólicos que o tornam mais relevante que o tempo de espera pela cidadania e o custo econômico que esse processo demanda.

Abstract This paper is the result of an ethnographic research that has been developed between/with Italian Brazilian in Santa Maria and in the towns of the Fourth Colony of Italian immigration (RS - Brazil). Our objective is to analyze the dynamics involved in the process of recognition of Italian citizenship, as well as the value attributed to the Italian passport. We observed that the passport, besides a document (object), crystallizes affective and symbolic values that make it more relevant than the waiting time for the citizenship and the economic cost that this process demands.

Resumo Este artigo trata da venda de rua senegalesa na cidade de Santa Maria (Rio Grande do Sul, Brasil), procurando responder à seguinte questão: “como a produção de espaços de venda pelos senegaleses de Santa Maria contribui para a sua inserção no comércio de rua da cidade?”. Por meio de uma etnografia desenvolvida entre 2016 e 2017, propomos que a produção de espaços de venda por esses imigrantes constitui de uma prática cotidiana que os representa positivamente nas interações com a clientela e os diferencia etnicamente de outros vendedores de rua que ocupam o mesmo espaço social.

Abstract This paper deals with the Senegalese street sales in the city of Santa Maria (Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil), seeking to answer the following question: “how does the production of sale spaces by the Senegalese people, in Santa Maria, contributes to their insertion in the city’s street commerce?” Through an ethnography developed between 2016 and 2017, we propose that the production of sales spaces by these immigrants constitutes a daily practice that positively represents them in the interactions with the clientele and ethnically differentiates them from other street vendors who occupy the same social space.

Este artigo tem por objetivo analisar de que forma os migrantes italianos que se dirigiram para a região central do estado do Rio Grande do Sul em finais do século XIX conduziram a colonização local e quais as categorias sociais presentes nesse processo. Utilizarei como fonte as memórias escritas por dois imigrantes: Julio Lorenzoni (publicadas em 1975) e Andrea Pozzobon (publicadas em 1997), bem como o Álbum do Primeiro cinqüentenário da imigração italiana no estado, escrito em italiano e impresso em 1925. Efetuar uma análise antropológica das narrativas documentais dessa imigração é algo extremamente fértil para se compreender, também, a dinâmica contemporânea das reivindicações étnicas em nível local, que se sustentam na construção de uma origem baseada na ancestralidade italiana.

This article aims to analyze the form in which the Italian migrants who arrived in the central region of the state of Rio Grande do Sul at the end of the 19th century colonized the region and the social categories used in the process. As a source, I make use of memoirs written by two immigrants: Julio Lorenzoni (published in 1975) and Andrea Pozzobon (published in 1997), as well as the Album celebrating the First Fifty Years of Italian Immigration in the state, written in Italian and printed in 1925. An anthropological analysis of the written narratives documenting this immigration has also proven to be extremely fertile in terms of understanding the contemporary dynamic of ethnic claims at local level, based on the construction of an origin rooted in Italian ancestry.

Este artigo objetiva analisar algumas relações existentes entre as identidades étnicas e a mídia, em especial a televisão. Partindo-se de pesquisa etnográfica entre descendentes de imigrantes italianos na região central do Rio Grande do Sul, no Brasil, tomou-se como estudo de caso a recepção da novela Terra Nostra, exibida pela Rede Globo de Televisão em 1999-2000. A recepção da telenovela favoreceu a reflexividade acerca da noção de pertencimento "italiano" e promoveu uma série de diálogos entre a tradição imaginada e alimentada em nível local e aquela transmitida pela televisão. Esses diálogos centravam-se, em particular, sobre a questão de gênero, a sexualidade, as narrativas do processo colonizador e os elementos diacríticos presentes na italianidade paulista, que entravam em desacordo com os padrões valorativos locais.

This paper aims to analyze some of the relations that exist between ethnic identities and the media, especially television. Springing from ethnographic research on the descendants of Italian immigrants in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, in Brazil, the reception of the television soap opera Terra Nostra, broadcasted by Globo broadcasting network in 1999-2000, was used as a case study. The reception of the soap opera favored the reflection of the notion of "Italian" belonging and encouraged a series of dialogs between the imagined and locally perpetuated tradition and that, which was transmitted on television. In particular, the questions of sex, sexuality, narratives of the colonization process and the diacritical elements present in the community of Italian descendants in São Paulo were some points in which there was a divergence from local value patterns.
