EFFECT OF LIQUID SWINE WASTEWATER DOSES ON PHYSICAL, CHEMICAL AND ELECTROCHEMICAL ATTRIBUTES IN A CERRADO OXISOL. The addition of organic residues enhances soil and plant organic matter and nutrient content. To gauge the impact of varying liquid swine waste (LSW) levels on soil, we studied changes in a clayey Oxisol’s physical, chemical, and electrochemical traits from the Cerrado. LSW doses (0, 50, 150, 450, 600 m3 ha−1) were applied to the 0-0.20 m layer in a randomized design with three replicates. Post a 30-day incubation at 60% field capacity, the soil underwent mineralogical, physical (clay dispersed in water - CDW), chemical (sodium adsorption ratio - SAR, cation exchange capacity - CEC, base saturation - V%), and electrochemical (pH in H2O and KCl, ApH, point of zero charge - PZC, point of zero salt effect - PZSE, surface electric potential - iµo, and electrical conductivity - EC) analyses. The levels of exchangeable Ca, K, Mg, Na, and available P increased with increasing LSW doses. Increasing LSW doses in the soil led to an increase in EC, but soil salinization was not observed at the highest dose. With the application of LSW doses, there was a decrease in pH, ApH, PZSE, and an increase in CEC, PZC and ψo. Despite the increase in ψo, low clay dispersibility was observed. RESUMO O uso de resíduos agroindustriais, como a vinhaça, pode alterar as características químicas e físicas do solo. Objetivou-se avaliar o carbono orgânico total e o nitrogênio total de um solo e a distribuição de carbono e nitrogênio nas frações granulométricas areia e argila, em três sistemas de manejo (com e sem aplicação de vinhaça e com uso de queimada para a colheita, em comparação à cobertura vegetal de foresta primária/mata nativa), quanto ao modo de colheita e adubação da cana-de-açúcar, na região Centro-Oeste do Brasil. O uso de resíduos orgânicos no sistema de produção da canade-açúcar pode proporcionar, mesmo em curto período, conservação e melhoria da qualidade do solo pela adição e manutenção de carbono orgânico. O uso de vinhaça favorece o aumento do carbono orgânico total e do nitrogênio total no solo, na fração argila, em todas profundidades avaliadas. O sistema com queima resulta em teores de carbono total menores na fração areia, em comparação à fração argila, e, mesmo com a colheita da cana após a queima, a matéria orgânica mais recalcitrante está associada à fração argila.

ABSTRACT The use of agroindustrial wastes, such as vinasse, may alter the soil chemical and physical characteristics. This study aimed to evaluate the total organic carbon and total nitrogen in a soil and the distribution of carbon and nitrogen in the sand and clay granulometric fractions, in three management systems (with and without vinasse application and with burning for harvest, in comparison with primary/native forest coverage), regarding fertilization and harvesting of sugarcane, in the Midwest region of Brazil. The use of organic wastes in the sugarcane production system may promote, even in a short time frame, conservation and improvement of the soil quality by the addition and maintenance of organic carbon. The use of vinasse favors the increase of the total organic carbon and total nitrogen in the soil, in the clay fraction, at all evaluated depths. The system with burning results in lower total carbon levels in the sand fraction, in comparison with the clay fraction, and, even with the sugarcane harvest employing burning, the most recalcitrant organic matter is associated with the clay fraction.

RESUMEN El estiércol de cerdo es un residuo agrícola que puede aumentar la fertilidad del suelo. Sin embargo, este residuo tiene un alto contenido de metales pesados, principalmente zinc (Zn) y cadmio (Cd), los cuales no sólo son tóxicos para las plantas y los organismos del suelo, sino que también representan una gran amenaza para la salud humana por su potencial acumulación en la cadena alimentaria. Transformar el estiércol en biocarbón y agregarlo al suelo puede mejorar la capacidad del suelo para retener metales pesados. El objetivo principal de este trabajo fue estudiar la capacidad de suelos arenosos mezclados con diferentes dosis de biocarbón de estiércol porcino (BEP) para retener Cd y Zn, y evaluar el equilibrio de sorción de estos metales. Las pruebas de sorción se realizaron agregando soluciones de Zn (ZnCl2) o Cd (CdCl2) en diferentes concentraciones (0, 2.5, 5, 10, 50 y 100 mg L-1) a muestras de suelo mezcladas con diversas dosis de BEP (0, 0.25, 0.75, 1.5, y 3.0% (w/w). Los datos fueron modelados de acuerdo con las isotermas de Freundlich y Langmuir para describir los procesos de adsorción. El modelo de Langmuir representó mejor los datos (R2>0.97), lo que indica una absorción de monocapa a la superficie. Los resultados mostraron que la capacidad de sorción de Zn y Cd aumentó con la dosis de BEP, mejorando la retención de metales. La constante de Langmuir (KL) para el suelo sin BEP para Cd y Zn fue 0.01 L mg-1 y 0.05 L mg-1, respectivamente. Con las dosis más altas de BEP, KL aumentó a 9.86 L mg-1 y 1.26 L mg-1 para Cd y Zn, respectivamente. Los resultados sugieren que el BEP tiene el potencial de mitigar la contaminación por Zn y Cd en suelos arenosos.

ABSTRACT Swine manure is an agricultural waste that can increase soil fertility. However, this residue has a high content of heavy metals, particularly zinc (Zn) and cadmium (Cd), that are not only toxic to plants and soil organisms but they also pose a great threat to human health due to the potential accumulation of these metals through the food chain. Transforming swine manure into biochar and adding it to soils can improve the soil's capacity to retain heavy metals. The main objective of this research was to study the capacity of sandy soils mixed with different doses of swine manure biochar (SMB) to retain Cd and Zn as well as to evaluate the sorption equilibrium of these metals. Sorption essays were performed by adding solutions of Zn (ZnCl2) or Cd (CdCl2) at different concentrations (0, 2.5, 5, 10, 50 and 100 mg L-1) to soil samples mixed with different doses of SMB (0, 0.25, 0.75, 1.5, and 3.0 % (w/w)). The data were modelled using both Langmuir and Freundlich adsorption isotherm models to describe the adsorption processes. The data were best represented by the Langmuir model (R2>0.97), indicating a mono-layer sorption to the surface. Results showed that sorption capacity of Zn and Cd increased with the dose of SMB, improving metal retention. The Langmuir constant (KL) for soil without SMB for Cd and Zn were 0.01 L mg-1 and 0.05 L mg-1, respectively. With the highest dose of SMB, KL increased to 9.86 L mg-1 and 1.26 L mg-1 for Cd and Zn, respectively. Results suggest that SMB has the potential to mitigate Zn and Cd contamination of sandy soils.

Abstract This experiment assessed the effects of biosolids in the soil’s chemical and physical characteristics. Soil was mixed to a biosolid in a totally randomized design, within a 5× 4 factorial scheme: five doses of biosolid (0, 60, 120, 180, and 240 m3 ha-1) and four depths (0-0.10; 0.10-0.20; 0.20-0.30; 0.30-0.40 m). Soil was placed in 50 L-tubs imitating the soil profile. Doses of biosolid were added to the soil and samples were retrieved after 120 days. Biosolid tended towards acidification, with very low P and K rates. Nutrient leaching, such as Mg, increases microporosity and the reduction of soil macroporosity should be considered in high doses of biosolid.

Resumo Objetivou-se neste trabalho classificar as espécies florestais quanto às exigências em fertilidade do solo, bem como identificar grupos com características semelhantes utilizando técnicas da estatística multivariada. Para isso, foram analisadas amostras de solo quanto à textura e aos atributos químicos e realizado um levantamento fitossociológico da região. Na análise de componentes principais, as relações do complexo solo foram resumidas em quatro componentes que juntos explicaram 80% da variância dos dados, com relações mais significativas entre a soma de bases, saturação por bases, capacidade de troca catiônica efetiva, saturação por alumínio, Ca+Mg, Al e argila, com coeficiente de correlação maior que 90%. Na análise de agrupamento hierárquico, com 70% de similaridade quanto aos atributos do solo, formaram-se três grupos distintos de espécies florestais. A análise multivariada foi eficiente na redução das variáveis originais, separação e classificação dos grupos e identificação dos atributos químicos do solo mais requeridos pelas espécies florestais. Os Grupos 1 e 2 contêm espécies mais exigentes em fertilidade, com preferências por solos de textura média ricos em bases de cálcio e magnésio, enquanto o Grupo 3 parece ser menos exigente, prevalecendo em solos mais arenosos e mais ácidos, com grande capacidade de troca de cátions e elevada saturação por alumínio; podendo, as espécies desse último grupo, ser indicadas para recuperação de áreas degradadas. As espécies Copaifera sp. e Goupia glabra merecem mais estudos quanto aos mecanismos de adaptação às condições de baixa fertilidade do solo.

Abstract This paper aimed to classify the forest species related to the demands on soil fertility and to identify groups with similar characteristics using multivariate statistical techniques. To do so, we analyzed soil samples for the texture and for chemical attributes and we carried out a phytosociological survey of the region. In the principal component analysis, the relations of the complex soil were summarized into four components, which together explained 80% of data variance, with most significant relationships between the sum of bases, base saturation, total cation exchange capacity, aluminum saturation, Ca + Mg, Al and clay, with correlation coefficient greater than 90%. In hierarchical cluster analysis, 70% is similar to soil attributes; three distinct groups of forest species were formed. Multivariate analysis was effective in reducing the original variables, separation and classification of groups and identification of soil chemical properties most required by forest species. Groups 1 and 2 contain species more demanding in fertility, with preferences for medium textured soils and rich in calcium and magnesium bases. While Group 3 seems to be less demanding, with a predominance in sandy and acidic soils, with large cation exchange capacity and high aluminum saturation. Therefore, the species of the latter group can be indicated for the recovery of the degraded areas. The species Copaifera sp. and Goupia glabra deserve more studies about the mechanisms of adaptation to low soil fertility conditions.

RESUMO Determinar a relação existente entre os nutrientes e o crescimento das plantas implica em estudos e a aplicação de análise estatística capaz de explicar essas interações. Diante disso, estabeleceu-se experimento com doses de N, P2O5 e K2O e seus efeitos nas correlações entre crescimento e os nutrientes em mudas de Tectona grandis, a partir da correlação canônica. As mudas foram submetidas às doses de N = 0, 2,5, 5,0 e 7,5 kg m–3 com ureia, P2O5 = 0, 3,0, 6,0 e 12,0 kg m–3 com superfosfato simples e K2O = 0, 3,0, 6,0 e 12,0 kg m–3 com cloreto de potássio, em delineamento inteiramente casualizado. As correlações canônicas demonstraram que a biomassa foi a característica morfológica que mais se destacou em relação ao crescimento das mudas de T. grandis. Essa característica, assim como altura e diâmetro, foi favorecida pelas interações entre os macro e micronutrientes, que ocorreram no substrato após a adubação. N, Mn e Cu foram os nutrientes mais importantes para o incremento dessas características.

ABSTRACT The relationship between nutrients and plant growth requires in-depth studies and the application of statistical analysis capable of explaining these interactions. An experiment was prepared with N, P2O5 and K2O doses. Effects on the correlations between growth and nutrients in Tectona grandis seedlings were based on the canonical correlation analysis. Seedlings were submitted to doses of N = 0, 2.5, 5.0, 7.5 kg m–3 with urea, P2O5 = 0, 3.0, 6.0, 12.0 kg m–3 with common superphosphate, and K2O = 0, 3.0, 6.0, 12.0 kg m–3 with potassium chloride, in a completely randomized design. Canonical correlations showed that biomass was the most salient morphological characteristic in relation to the growth of T. grandis seedlings. Height and diameter were also underscored by interactions between macro- and micronutrients in the substrate, after fertilization. Results show that N, Mn and Cu were the most important nutrients for the increment of these characteristics.

O objetivo neste trabalho foi avaliar a influência da compactação e adubação fosfatada sobre o teor de macronutrientes e produtividade de grãos de soja na Chapada dos Parecis-MT. O estudo foi realizado em Latossolo Vermelho, em delineamento em blocos casualizados, esquema fatorial 2x4x4 e três repetições, sendo duas formas de adubação fosfatada (a lanço e no sulco), quatro doses de P2O5 (0, 50, 100 e 150 kg ha-1) e quatro estados de compactação (PT0, PT2, PT4 e PT8 - semeadura direta com compactação induzida por tráfego de trator em zero, duas, quatro e oito passadas, respectivamente). A compactação, a forma de adubação e as doses de P2O5 influenciaram a disponibilidade de fósforo no solo e a absorção do elemento pela planta, sendo que nos sistemas mais compactados adubados a lanço os teores de P na soja ficaram abaixo dos limites considerados adequados. A compactação reduziu os teores N, P, Ca e Mg e aumentou ou teores de K e S e as doses de P2O5 aumentaram os teores de Mg da parte aérea da soja. A adubação a lanço em áreas compactadas reduziu a eficiência da adubação fosfatada com consequente redução da produtividade de grãos da soja.

The objective of this study was to evaluate the influence of compaction and phosphorus fertilization on the macronutrient tenor and productivity of soybeans in Chapada dos Parecis-MT. The study was conducted on Latossolo Vermellho, in a randomized block design, factorial 2x4x4 and three repetitions, two forms of phosphorus fertilization (broadcasted and groove), four doses of P2O5 (0, 50, 100 and 150 kg ha-1) and four compaction levels (PT0, PT2, PT4 and PT8 - tillage with compression-induced tractor traffic at zero, two, four and eight strides, respectively). Compaction, the form of fertilizer and P2O5 levels influenced the availability of phosphorus in the soil and the absorption of the element by the plant, and in the more compressed systems fertilized by throwing the P levels in soybeans were below the limits considered appropriate. The compaction reduced N, P, Ca and Mg and increased or K and S and P2O5 doses increased the Mg content of the soybean shoot. Fertilization by throwing in compacted areas reduced the efficiency of phosphorus fertilization with consequent reduction in soybean yield.

RESUMO O experimento foi realizado em casa de vegetação na Universidade Federal de Mato Grosso, em Cuiabá/MT no período de março a maio de 2012 com o objetivo de avaliar o crescimento de plantas de milho e o teor de micronutrientes em doses de níquel com e sem calagem. O delineamento foi o de blocos casualizados, em um arranjo fatorial 2 x 5 com quatro repetições, totalizando 40 parcelas, sendo: com e sem calagem e cinco doses de níquel, em um Latossolo Vermelho Amarelo de textura argilosa. A calagem e a aplicação de níquel interferiram no crescimento das plantas de milho. Foi registrada a redução do desenvolvimento das plantas com o aumento das doses de níquel sem a calagem. Tanto a calagem quanto a aplicação de doses de níquel alteraram os teores de micronutrientes nas plantas de milho, independente da parte da planta avaliada. O níquel exerceu ação antagônica com manganês e zinco e sinérgica com o cobre e ferro.

ABSTRACT The experiment was conducted in a greenhouse located at the Federal University of Mato Grosso, Cuiaba-MT, from March to May 2012. The objective was to assess the effects of different rates of nickel application with and without liming on maize growth and micronutrient levels. The study was a randomized block design in a 2 x 5 factorial arrangement with four replicates, for a total of 40 plots, including with and without liming and five rates of nickel application, on a clayey Red Yellow Latosol (Oxisol, USDA classification and Ferralsol, FAO classification). Both lime and nickel applications influenced plant growth, reducing plant development with increased nickel application without liming. It was also observed that both lime and nickel applications altered micronutrient levels in the maize plants, independent of which part of the plant was evaluated. Nickel played an antagonistic role with manganese and zinc and a synergistic role with copper and iron.

RESUMO: A avaliação de sistemas de uso e manejo dos solos por meio da matéria orgânica e seus compartimentos tem ganhado apelo, pois ajuda a entender a dinâmica do seu aporte, principalmente em ambientes tropicais. Objetivou-se neste trabalho determinar, no município de Colorado do Oeste, Rondônia, a alteração do carbono orgânico e nitrogênio total nas frações leve e pesada da matéria orgânica da camada superficial de um ARGISSOLO VERMELHO-AMARELO Eutrófico típico sob diferentes usos do solo: Floresta nativa (FN): Floresta Ombrófila Aberta, como ambiente referência; sistema agroflorestal 1: teca (Tectona grandis L. F.) e kudzu (Pueraria montana); sistema agroflorestal 2: café (Coffea canephora), pastagem (Brachiaria brizantha cv. Marandu), pinho cuiabano (Parkia multijuca), teca e kudzu; Sistema agrossilvopastoril: Teca, cacau (Theobroma cacao) e pastagem; sistema agroflorestal 3: Teca e cacau; pastagem extensiva: (B. brizantha cv. Marandu). O delineamento empregado foi o de blocos casualizados em esquema de parcelas subdivididas (diferentes coberturas vegetais versus camadas de solo à 0-0,05 e a 0,05-0,10 m) com três repetições. Verificou-se que: comparado a floresta nativa houve aumento e igualdade na quantidade de carbono orgânico e nitrogênio total da fração leve e pesada da matéria orgânica do solo no "sistema agroflorestal 2"; a fração leve foi responsável pelo armazenamento de aproximadamente 45% e 70% do carbono orgânico e nitrogênio total do solo, respectivamente. Portanto, o diagnóstico da fração densimétrica leve é o mais indicado para identificação precoce do declínio geral da matéria orgânica do solo.

ABSTRACT: The evaluation of land use and management by the measurement of soil organic matter and its fractions has gained attention since it helps in the understanding of the dynamics of their contribution to soil productivity, especially in tropical environments. This study was conducted in the municipality of Colorado do Oeste, state of Rondônia, Brazil and its aim was to determinethe quantity of organic carbon and total nitrogen in the light and heavy fractions of organic matter in the surface layers of a typic hapludalf under different land use systems: Native Forest: open evergreen forest, reference environment; Agroforestry System 1: teak (Tectona grandis LF) and kudzu (Pueraria montana); Agroforestry System 2: coffee (Coffea canephora), marandu palisade grass (Brachiaria brizantha cv. Marandu), "pinho cuiabano" (Parkia multijuga), teak and kudzu.; Agroforestry System 3: teak and cocoa (Theobroma cacao); Silvopasture System: teak, cocoa and marandu palisade grass; and Extensive Grazing System: marandu palisade grass. The experimental design was a randomized block in split-split plots (use systems versus soil layers of 0-0.05 and 0.05-0.10 m) with three replications. The results showed that relative to Native Forest, the Agroforestry System 2 had equal- and greater amounts of organic carbon and total nitrogen respectively (light and heavy fractions) in the soil organic matter, with the light fraction being responsible for storage of approximately 45% and 70% of the organic carbon and total nitrogen, respectively. Therefore, the light densimetric fraction proved to be useful in the early identification of the general decline of the soil organic matter in the land use systems evaluated.

RESUMO O sedimento é um dos compartimentos mais importantes dos ecossistemas aquáticos, possui papel importante no transporte e acumulação de metais. Este estudo teve por objetivo determinar a concentração de metais nas frações geoquímicas de sedimentos do Rio Bento Gomes, Pantanal de Poconé (MT) por meio da extração seletiva e sequencial, a fim de avaliar a distribuição e mobilidade dos metais. Os sedimentos foram coletados nos períodos seco e chuvoso em oito pontos distintos, e os metais (Fe, Mn, Cr, Cu, Zn e Ni) extraídos dos sedimentos por procedimentos de extração sequencial (baseada no protocolo proposto por BCR -Community Bureau of Reference) e de extração seletiva (baseada no protocolo 3050B da Environmental Protection Agency of the United States), utilizando-se materiais de referência certificados para validação do método analítico. Todos os metais apresentaram teores abaixo do limite previsto na Resolução CONAMA nº 454/2012 no período seco, com exceção do Ni no período chuvoso (maior que 18 mg kg-1). Os estudos de fracionamento indicaram que os metais foram encontrados nas frações mobilizáveis do sedimento, especialmente associados aos óxidos de ferro. Os metais mais móveis e, consequentemente, mais biodisponíveis, foram o manganês, zinco e níquel, principalmente na época chuvosa. Maiores teores de cobre foram encontrados nas frações residuais do sedimento, indicando baixa mobilidade no meio aquático. A sequência de mobilidade dos metais estudados foi Mn > Zn > Ni > Cr > Cu > Fe.

ABSTRACT The sediment is one of the major compartments of aquatic ecosystems, it plays an important role in the transport and accumulation of metal. This study aimed to determine the concentration of metals in geochemical fractions of the Bento Gomes River sediments, Pantanal of Poconé (MT) through selective extraction and sequential in order to assess the distribution and mobility of metals. The sediments were collected in the rainy and dry seasons in eight different points, and the metals (Fe, Mn, Cr, Cu, Zn and Ni) extracted from sediments by sequential extraction procedures (based on the proposed by BCR protocol - Community Bureau of Reference) and selective extraction (based on the 3050B protocol of the Environmental Protection Agency of the United States), using certified reference materials for validation of the analytical method. All metals showed levels below the limits established by CONAMA Resolution nº 454/2012 in the dry season, except for Ni in the rainy season (greater than 18 mg kg-1). The fractionation studies indicated that the metals were found in mobilized sediment fractions, especially associated with the iron oxides. The metals more mobile and hence more bioavailable, have been manganese, zinc and nickel, particularly in the rainy season. Largest copper contents were found in the residual fraction of the sediment, indicating low mobility in the aquatic environment. The sequence of mobility of the metals studied was Mn> Zn> Ni> Cr> Cu> Fe.

Associadas aos benefícios no solo da semeadura direta, podem ocorrer a formação de gradiente vertical de fertilidade e a de uma camada compactada provocada pelo intenso tráfego de máquinas agrícolas, podendo modificar o crescimento radicular das culturas. O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar as doses e formas de aplicação da adubação fosfatada e a compactação do solo pelo tráfego de máquinas nos atributos físicos e no sistema radicular da soja e do milho nas condições da Chapada dos Parecis, MT. O estudo foi realizado em Latossolo Vermelho-Amarelo distrófico argiloso em delineamento em blocos casualizados, no esquema fatorial 2 × 4 × 4 e três repetições, sendo duas formas de adubação fosfatada (a lanço e no sulco), quatro doses de P2O5 (0, 50, 100 e 150 kg ha-1) e quatro níveis de compactação (PT0, PT2, PT4 e PT8 – semeadura direta com compactação induzida por tráfego de trator em zero, duas, quatro e oito passadas, respectivamente). O tráfego de máquinas ocasionou compactação do solo em semeadura direta, aumentando a densidade do solo (Ds) e resistência do solo à penetração (RSP) e reduzindo a macroporosidade e porosidade total, sem efeito da adubação fosfatada. A resposta das espécies à forma de adubação fosfatada foi diferenciada, não apresentando influência no crescimento radicular da soja. No milho, quando fornecida a lanço proporcionou maior área de raízes na camada de 0,00-0,05 m; e, quando no sulco, foram observadas entre as camadas menores diferenças na área radicular. Nas camadas de 0,05-0,10 e 0,10-0,20 m, a RSP de 1,48 e 1,84 MPa (Us = 0,28 m3 m-3) e Ds de 1,32 e 1,35 kg dm-3, respectivamente, proporcionaram redução de 19 e 27 % no diâmetro médio das raízes do milho e aumento de 110 e 49 % no diâmetro das raízes da soja.

Associated with the benefits of the no-till system for the soil, there may be the formation of a vertical gradient of fertility and a compacted layer caused by heavy farm machine traffic, which may modify the root growth of crops. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of rates and forms of phosphate fertilizer application and soil compaction by machine traffic on the physical properties and root system of soybeans and maize. The study was conducted in Campo Novo do Parecis, MT, Brazil, in a clayey Latossolo Vermelho-Amarelo distrófico (Oxisol) in a randomized block experimental design with three replications. A 2 × 4 × 4 factorial arrangement was used, consisting of two forms of phosphate fertilization (broadcast and in the furrow), four rates of P2O5 (0, 50, 100, and 150 kg ha- 1), and four levels of compaction (PT0, PT2, PT4, and PT8 - no-tillage with compaction induced by tractor traffic at zero, two, four, and eight passes, respectively). Machine traffic causes soil compaction in no-tillage, increasing soil bulk density (Bd) and soil resistance to penetration (SRP) and reducing macroporosity and total porosity, without effect from P fertilization. The response of the species to the form of P fertilization was differentiated. There was no significant influence on root growth in soybean, but in maize, broadcast fertilization provided for greater root area in the root zone in the 0.00-0.05 m layer, and fertilization in the furrow led to smaller differences in root area between the layer. The SRP values of 1.48 and 1.84 MPa (Us = 0.28 m3 m-3) and Bd values of 1.32 and 1.35 kg dm- 3 in the 0.05-0.10 and 0.10-0.20 m layers, respectively, resulted in a reduction of 19 and 27 % in the average diameter of corn roots, and an increase of 110 and 49 % in the diameter of soybean roots.

Dentre as possibilidades de obtenção de elevados rendimentos de grãos, em uma cultura, bem como diminuição dos custos, destaca-se a identificação de genótipos com maior eficiência na absorção e utilização de nutrientes. Este trabalho objetivou avaliar caracteres agronômicos (altura de plantas, diâmetro de caule e número de folhas), teores de nutrientes (N, P, K, Ca, Mg, S e B) e rendimento de grãos de genótipos de girassol. O delineamento experimental utilizado foi o de blocos casualizados, com 8 genótipos (M734, HELIO 358, Embrapa 122, HLE 23, MG 341, BRS G37, BRS G41, V90631) e quatro repetições. Todos os genótipos apresentaram altura de plantas, diâmetro de caule e número de folhas dentro dos padrões estabelecidos para híbridos e variedades comerciais. Os teores foliares de N, P, Mg, S e B não foram influenciados pelos genótipos de girassol. Os teores foliares de K e Ca foram distintos entre os genótipos de girassol, sendo os maiores teores encontrados em HELIO 358 e MG341, respectivamente. Os maiores rendimentos de grãos foram obtidos com BRS G37, HLE 23, M734 e HELIO 358. Houve correlação positiva entre os caracteres morfológicos e teores de nutrientes, nas cultivares V90631 e Embrapa 122, e entre os teores de nutrientes e rendimento de grãos, na cultivar M734.

Among the possibilities of obtaining high grain yields in a crop, as well as costs reduction, stands out the identification of genotypes with greater efficiency in the absorption and utilization of nutrients. This study aimed to evaluate agronomic traits (plant height, stem diameter and number of leaves), nutrient contents (N, P, K, Ca, Mg, S and B) and grain yield of sunflower genotypes. The experimental design was a randomized blocks design, with 8 genotypes (M734, HELIO 358, Embrapa 122, HLE 23, MG 341, BRS G37, BRS G41, V90631) and four replications. All genotypes presented plant height, stem diameter and number of leaves within the standards established for hybrids and commercial varieties. Foliar concentrations of N, P, Mg, S and B were not influenced by the sunflower genotypes. The foliar contents of K and Ca were distinct among the sunflower genotypes, with the highest levels observed in HELIO 358 and MG341, respectively. The highest grain yields were obtained with BRS G37, HLE 23, M734 and HELIO 358. There was a positive correlation between morphological characters and nutrient contents in the V90631 and Embrapa 122 cultivars, and between nutrient contents and grain yield in the M734 cultivar.

RESUMO O objetivo deste estudo foi verificar a influência do lodo do curtimento nas propriedades químicas do solo e nas características morfológicas e nutricionais de mudas de paricá. O experimento foi realizado em casa de vegetação em delineamento inteiramente casualizado, em cinco repetições, tendo como substrato um cambissolo húmico, o qual foi caracterizado química e granulometricamente; de posse desses resultados o solo foi corrigido previamente com calcário e NPK. Após 100 dias de observação foram analisadas as variáveis químicas do solo (pH, H+Al, Al3+, Ca, Mg, P, K, Na, S, Cr3+, CO, SB, CTC, V, RAS e PST), a morfologia da planta [altura (H), diâmetro do caule (DC), número de folhas completas, comprimento da raiz principal (CR) e biomassa seca], bem como as concentrações de N, P, K, Ca, Mg, S, Cr3+ e Na na planta. O lodo de curtimento foi utilizado como complemento nutricional nas doses de 0,0; 1,5; 3,0; 4,5 e 6,0 g kg-1. O lodo de curtimento tem potencial como corretivo de acidez do solo, com aumento pouco expressivo dos indicadores de salinidade, sodicidade e do teor de Cr3+ disponível. No entanto, o uso do lodo não afetou as características morfológicas das mudas de paricá, porém, propiciou aumento nos teores K e S na parte aérea e de Na e S na raiz. Os maiores teores de nutrientes no paricá foram obtidos com 6,0 g kg-1 de lodo de curtimento, contudo, não foi possível otimizar uma dose para a máxima produtividade de mudas de paricá com as doses utilizadas.

ABSTRACT The objective of this study was to assess the influence of the tanning sludge in soil chemical properties and the morphological and nutritional of paricá seedlings. The experiment was conducted in a greenhouse in a completely randomized design with five replicates, having as a substrate humic cambisol, which was characterized chemically and granulometrically; in possession of these results, the soil was previously corrected with lime and NPK. After 100 days of observation, it was analyzed the soil chemical variables (pH, H+Al, Al3+, Ca, Mg, P, K, Na, S, Cr3+, CO, SB, CTC, V, RAS and PST), the morphology plant [height (H), stem diameter (DC), the number of full leaves, the main root length (CR) and dry biomass], and the concentrations of N, P, K, Ca, Mg, S, Cr3+ and Na in the plant. The tanning sludge was used as a nutritional supplement in doses of 0.0, 1.5, 3.0, 4.5 and 6.0 g kg-1. The tanning sludge has potential as a corrective of soil acidity, with little significant increase in indicators of salinity, sodicity and Cr3+ content available. However, the use of sludge did not affect the morphological characteristics of seedlings of paricá, but induced an increase in levels K and S in the shoot and Na and S in the root. The greatest concentration of nutrients in paricá were obtained with 6.0 g kg-1 of tanning sludge; however, was not possible to optimize the dose for a maximum productivity of seedlings of paricá with the treatments used.

A substituição da floresta por outro tipo de uso do solo pode levar a perdas significativas na matéria orgânica do solo, alterando sua dinâmica e como consequência alterando as entradas e saídas de nutrientes do sistema. Neste trabalho o objetivo foi avaliar o estoque de nutrientes em diferentes sistemas de uso de solo em Colorado do Oeste-RO. Os sistemas avaliados foram o agroflorestal (teca e cacau), florestal (teca com cinco anos), teca com oito anos, agrossilvopastoril (teca, cacau e pasto) e pastagem tendo a mata nativa como referência. Em cada sistema foram abertas três minitrincheiras, nas quais foram coletadas amostras deformadas e indeformadas nas profundidades de 0 a 5, 5 a 10, 10 a 20 e 20 a 30 cm. Nessas amostras foram determinados os nutrientes: N, P, K, Ca e Mg, a matéria orgânica, a densidade do solo e os teores de argila. Observaram-se diferenças nos estoques de nutrientes no solo entre os sistemas de uso e em profundidade. A concentração de nutrientes foi influenciada pelo sistema de uso do solo. O nutriente mais estocado em todos os sistemas de uso é o Ca, os valores variaram entre 5188,48 e 2912,86 kg ha-1 e o menos estocado o K, com estoques entre 46,22 e 17,33 kg ha-1. O sistema teca com cinco anos foi o sistema que mais se aproximou da mata, quanto ao armazenamento de nutrientes.

The replacement of forest by other land use can lead to significant losses in soil organic matter, changing its dynamic and the nutrients inputs and outputs of the system. The objective of this study was to assess nutrient stocks under different land use systems in Colorado do Oeste-RO. The agroforestry (teak, and cocoa), forestry (teak with five years), teak for eight years, farming areas (teak, cocoa and pasture) and pasture were the systems evaluated and the native forest was taken as reference. In each system three small trenches were dug, in which deformed and undeformed soil samples, at depths of 0 to 5, 5 to 10, 10 to 20 and 20 to 30 cm were taken. In these samples the nutrients N, P, K, Ca and Mg, organic matter, bulk density and clay content were determined. A completely randomized design with split plots and, three replications in each system was adopted. Differences were observed in soil nutrient stocks among the usage systems and with depth. The concentration of nutrients was influenced by the system. Ca was the nutrient most stored (2912.86 to 5188.48 kg ha-1) in all systems and K was the least(17.33 to 46.22 kg ha-1). The system of teak five years is the system which is closer to the forest, for the storage of nutrients.

Neste estudo, objetivou-se avaliar o aporte de carbono nas frações lábil e não lábil em um ARGISSOLO do noroeste brasileiro, em diferentes sistemas de uso do solo. Os sistemas de uso avaliados foram: mata - MA (referência), agrossilvopastoril - TCP (teca, cacau e pasto); agroflorestal - TC (teca e cacau); florestal teca com 8 e 5 anos - T8 e T5 e pastagem - PA. Em cada sistema foram abertas três trincheiras nas profundidades de 0 a 5; 5 a 10 e 10 a 20 cm. Uma área sob vegetação nativa (mata) adjacente ao experimento foi amostrada e usada como referência. Os sistemas de uso MA, T8 e T5 tiveram maiores teores de carbono orgânico total (COT) e o sistema MA de carbono lábil (CL) do que os demais sistemas, com exceção do TC na profundidade de 10 a 20 cm. No sistema MA, os teores de COT foram maiores em relação ao sistema de uso TCP, TC e PA e os teores de CL foram maiores do que os observados nos sistemas de uso TCP e TC. Os teores do CL, na maioria dos casos analisados, foram menores que os de COT e, por essa razão, esse atributo pode ser usado como indicador para avaliar as mudanças antropogênicas na manutenção ou no estado da matéria orgânica do solo.

The objective of this study was to evaluate carbon input in labile and stable fractions in an ARGISOL of northwestern Brazil under different land use systems. Use systems being evaluated include: forest - MA (reference), agrosilvopasture - TCP (teak, cocoa and pasture); agroforest - TC (teak and cocoa); teak forest at 8 and 5 years - T8 and T5, and pasture - PA. In each system three furrows were made at depths of 0-5 cm, 5-10 cm and 10-20 cm. An area consisting of native vegetation (forest) adjacent to the experiment was sampled and used as control treatment. The use systems MA, T8 and T5 had higher levels of total organic carbon (COT) and the MA system had higher levels of labile carbon (CL) than the other systems, with the exception of TC at a depth of 10-20 cm. In the MA system, COT levels were higher in comparison to use systems TCP, TC and PA while CL levels were higher than the levels observed in use systems TCP and TC. In most cases being analyzed, CL levels were lower than COT levels, therefore this trait can be used as an indicator to assess anthropogenic changes relating to the maintenance or condition of soil organic matter.
