RESUMO: O INRAPORC® é um sistema de modelos mecanicista, dinâmico e determinista. Seu uso em sistemas comerciais de produção de suínos é restrito, pois necessita de informações de desempenho de animais sob manejo alimentar à vontade (AV), uma vez que este manejo não é utilizado em todas as fases de produção. Por isso é interessante verificar se a calibração do INRAPORC® baseada em um pequeno grupo de animais AV em situação laboratorial é capaz de simular a cinética média de uma população comercial maior e de subsidiar equações de correção de dados preditos de peso vivo (PV) e espessura de toucinho (ET). As análises foram realizadas comparando os dados preditos e observados sob o teste da curva de calibração da predição (b0=0 e b1=1), as curvas obtidas apresentaram erro sistemático de efeito fixo para a ET de +2,37mm. Os valores preditos de PV e ET foram corrigidos utilizando os valores dos erros sistemáticos obtidos. Como resultado, 100% das médias observadas de PV, estavam contidas nos intervalos de confiança (IC) das médias preditas pelo INRAPORC®, sem necessidade de correções e 78,5% das médias reais de ET estavam contidas nos IC das médias preditas pelo sistema, após as correções. A calibração do INRAPORC® baseada em uma pequena população de animais em situação laboratorial pode ser aplicada para predições de um sistema comercial de criação de suínos, bem como a aplicação do procedimento de correção dos dados preditos de PV e ET nas populações suínas que apresentem erros sistemáticos nas validações preditivas do sistema.

ABSTRACT: INRAPORC® is a mechanistic, dynamic, and deterministic model system that is used in commercial pig production. However, its use is limited as it requires performance information for animals under ad libitum (AL) feed management, which is not provided at all stages of production. Verification of the INRAPORC® calibrations were conducted in this investigation using data from a small group of animals fed with AL in a laboratory situation, to simulate the mean kinetics of a larger commercial population and generate the correction equations for the predicted body weight (BW), and backfat thickness (BT). Analyses were performed by comparing the predicted and observed data, and by submitting them to prediction calibration curve tests (b0 = 0, and b1 = 1). The obtained curves presented a systematic, fixed effect error (+2.37 mm) for BT. The predicted BW and BT values were corrected using the values of the systematic errors obtained. As a result, 100% of the BW averages observed were contained in the confidence intervals (CI) of the INRAPORC® predicted averages, without the need for corrections, and 78.5% of the actual BT averages were contained in the CI of the averages predicted by the system, after corrections. The INRAPORC® calibrations, based on a small population of animals in laboratory conditions could thus be utilized to make predictions for commercial pig production systems and for value correction procedures for the BW and BT of pig populations that have systematic errors in their prediction validations.

ABSTRACT We evaluated whether the procedure for correcting backfat thickness (BT) equation coefficients and lipid mass (LM) initial values in animal profiles, as well as actual model parameter (MP) data and their interrelationships, could reduce errors in predicting body weight (BW) and BT in pigs reared in Southern Brazil. Because different combinations of actual and estimated MP values in advanced system calibration mode (ACM) give rise to distinct calibration procedures, their BT and BW prediction errors were compared with those obtained by INRAPORC® default mode calibration based on different parameter combinations. Correlations among MP were also verified. The BT prediction correction (BTcor) procedure reduced the BT standard deviation of the estimate (σ) from 3.25 to 2.42 mm, but the correction had no effect on BW. Actual BT and feed intake data at 50 kg BW (FI50), reported in ACM, reduced prediction errors of BW and BT, in which their σ values were reduced from 5.29 to <4.08 kg and 2.42 to <2.12 mm, respectively. Mean protein deposition (MeanPD), FI50, and feed intake at 100 kg BW (FI100) were strongly and positively correlated (r>0.98). In addition, initial BW (BWi) was strongly negatively correlated with these parameters (r<–0.87) but positively correlated with the maintenance adjustment factor (MAINT) (r = 0.75). The inclusion of actual or default MP values in the ACM strongly influenced the estimation of other values, as well the predicted outcomes for BW and BT. The BTcor procedure and the input of actual or default MP values into the ACM of INRAPORC® is justified to reduce prediction errors, as it yields considerably greater accuracy in a pig nutritional adjustment system.

Resumo Este trabalho teve como objetivo avaliar o efeito da adição de um acidificante em dietas sobre a digestibilidade de nutrientes em suínos em crescimento. Foram utilizados 18 suínos, com peso médio inicial de 53,55 kg, e os tratamentos constituíam de dieta convencional (milho e farelo de soja) e alternativa (milho pré-cozido e soja integral desativada), acrescidas de um acidificante nos níveis 0%, 0,1% e 0,2%. Os animais ficaram alojados em três baias coletivas, sendo que em cada arraçoamento eram colocados em boxes individuais. O método de coleta de fezes foi realizado diretamente na ampola retal e 0,34% de Cr2O3 foi utilizado como indicador. O delineamento experimental utilizado foi de blocos ao acaso, em arranjo fatorial 2 x 3 (dietas x níveis de acidificante). A dieta alternativa foi pior para a digestibilidade da PB (P<0,03) e resíduo mineral (P<0,001), porém melhorou a digestibilidade de variáveis da fibra (FB, P<0,001; e FDA, P<0,001). A adição de 0,2% do acidificante às dietas melhorou a digestibilidade do Ca (P<0,01). Houve interação entre acidificante e dieta para os coeficientes de digestibilidade da MS (P<0,01) e FDN (P<0,02). A dieta alternativa apresentou coeficiente de digestibilidade da MS superior à convencional quando adicionados 0,1% do acidificante, sendo respectivamente, 86,02% e 84,51% (P<0,05). Nos resultados de digestibilidade da FDN, a dieta alternativa apresentou valor superior à convencional no nível 0% ou 0,1% do acidificante. Para a dieta alternativa com 0,2% foram obtidos valores maiores que nos níveis 0 ou 0,1% (P<0,05).

Abstract The aim of the experiment was to evaluate the effect of the addition of acidifiers to diets on the digestibility of growing pigs. We used 18 pigs with an average initial weight of 53.55 kg. The treatments consisted of conventional diet (corn and soybean meal) and alternative diet (pre-cooked corn and inactive soybean), with the addition of an acidifier at the levels of 0%, 0.1%, and 0.2%. The experimental design was in randomized blocks in a 2 x 3 factorial arrangement (diets x levels of the acidifier). The alternative diet was worse for CP (P<0.03) and ash (P<0.001) digestibility, but improved fiber digestibility (CF, P <0.001; ADF, P <0.001). The addition of the acidifier (0.2%) improved digestibility of Ca (P <0.01). There was an interaction between the acidifier and diet on digestibility coefficients of DM (P <0.01) and NDF (P<0.02). The alternative diet showed higher DM digestibility than the conventional diet when added 0.1% acidifier, respectively, 86.02% and 84.51% (P<0.05). As for NDF digestibility results, the alternative diet showed higher values than the conventional diet with the addition of 0% or 0.1% of the acidifier. For the alternative diet with 0.2%, values greater than 0 or 0.1% (P<0.05) were obtained.

O estudo foi realizado com o objetivo de avaliar modelos de predição do valor de energia metabolizável aparente corrigida (EMAn) do milho para aves. Foi organizado um banco de dados contendo informações de experimentos, publicados na literatura nacional entre os anos de 1994 a 2007. Foram utilizados dados de composição química, valores de energia bruta e EMAn de 97 amostras de milho, provenientes de estudos em que os valores de EMAn foram determinados pelo método tradicional de coleta total de excretas com pintos de linhagem de corte. Avaliaram-se cinco modelos, sendo quatro deles sugeridos para estimar a EMAn do milho e um para estimar EMAn de alimentos energéticos. Os modelos estudados foram: EMAnC1 = 36,21*PB + 85,37*EE + 37,26*ENN; EMAnC2 = 37,50*PB + 85,37*EE + 38,21*ENN; EMAnC3 = 4021,8 - 227,5*MM; EMAnC4 = 4337,27 - 57,17*FDN; e EMAnC5 = 4371,18 - 26,48*PB + 30,65*EE - 126,93*MM - 52,26*FB - 25,14*FDN + 24,40*FDA. Os valores de EMAn estimados pelos modelos foram comparados com os valores observados utilizando-se a análise de regressão. Em todos os modelos avaliados, houve rejeição (P<0,001) da hipótese de nulidade, demonstrando diferenças entre os valores de EMAn observados e calculados. No desdobramento do quadrado médio do erro de predição (MSD) em seus componentes, constatou-se que os dados simulados pelos modelos EMAnC1, EMAnC3 e EMAnC5 apresentam desvios de magnitude e padrão de flutuação em relação aos dados observados. Por outro lado, verificou-se que as estimativas realizadas com os modelos EMAnC2 e EMAnC4 tiveram predomínio do componente que expressa o vício de predição, indicando o viés constante observado na relação entre os valores observados e preditos. Concluiu-se que nenhum dos cinco modelos estudados permitiu estimar com precisão e acurácia os valores de energia metabolizável aparente corrigida do milho para aves.

A study was realized to validate models to predict apparent metabolizable energy (AMEn) of corn used in chickens diets. Data set with informations of experiments published in national literature among 1994 to 2007 was organized. Chemical composition, gross energy and AMEn of 97 corn samples were including in data set. Studies which AMEn was determined by the traditional method of excreta collection with growing chickens were selected. Five models were evaluates, being four recommended for application in corn and one for application in energetic feedstuffs. The models studied were AMEnC1=36.21*CP + 85.37*EE + 37.26*NNE; AMEnC2 =37.5*CP + 85.37*EE + 38.21*NNE; AMEnC3 =4021.8 - 227.5*ASH; AMEnC4 =4337.27 - 57.17*NDF; e AMEnC5 =4371.18 - 26.48*CP + 30.65*EE - 126.93*ASH - 52.26*CF - 25.14*NDF + 24.40*ADF. The values of AMEn obtained for the models were compared with the observed values using regression analysis. In all the evaluated models there is rejection of the nullity hypothesis, showing differences between estimated and calculated AMEn values. Decomposition of mean squared deviation (MSD) has been demonstrated that calculated values from models AMEnC1, AMEnC3 and AMEnC5 showed that its models failed to simulate the magnitude and pattern of fluctuation. On the other hand, the estimates made with models AMEnC2 e AMEnC4 showed predominance of component bias of prediction that indicates the models failed to simulate the variability of the data around the mean. Energy values predicted using differents models were compared with calculated values by regression analysis. In conclusion any of five models studied allow estimating precisely the apparent metabolizable energy of corn to chickens.

O método específico para volumosos tratados com álcalis, descrito por LAU & VAN SOEST (1981), foi avaliado, com palha de trigo, para caracterizar seus atributos, utilizando-se a digestibilidade in vitro (DIVMO) como método referência. As estimativas de compostos fenólicos dissociados pelo tratamento com álcali (ABS-REF), de grupos tituláveis (GT) e de lignina residual associada à parede celular de materiais tratados (ABS-TIT) apresentaram, nesta ordem, repetibilidade decrescente. A precisão das medidas de GT e de ABS-TIT é mais baixa para palha tratada (NaOH 4%) em relação à não tratada, e resultados obtidos em diferentes corridas laboratoriais podem diferir significativamente. As estimativas da exatidão das medidas de ABS-REF e GT, dada pela correlação entre seus valores e os de DIVMO obtidos com palha tratada com 0 a 4% de NaOH, foram altas, rABS-REF = 0,96 (P<0,01) e rGT = -0,83 (P<0,01), sendo reduzidas quando analisada em conjunto, palha tratada com uréia. Os resultados de ABS-TIT apresentaram alta imprecisão e não foram correlacionados com a DIVMO. Medidas de GT podem ser usadas para a seleçâo de palhas a serem submetidas a tratamentos com álcalis, e junto com medidas de ABS-REF, para estimar a digestibilidade de palhas tratadas.

The specific method for alkali-treated roughages described by LAU & VAN SOEST (1981) was evaluated, using wheat straw and in vitro digestibility (DIVMO) as reference method, aiming the characterization of its attributes. The estimated phenolic compounds dissociated during the alkali treatment (ABS-REF), titrable groups (GT) and residual lignin that remained in the cell wall after chemical treatment (ABS-TIT) showed, in this sequence, decreasing repeatability. The precision of the GT and ABS-TIT measurements with treated straw (NaOH 4%) were lower than with untreated straw, and results obtained in different batches can exhibit significant differences. The accuracy estimates of ABS-REF and GT measurements, obtained by correlation analysis between the values of 0 to 4 % NaOH treated straw and DIVMO, were high, rABS-REF = 0.96 (P<0.01) and rGT = -0.83 (P<0.01), and were reduced when the values obtained with urea treated straw was introduced in the analysis. The ABS-TIT values showed high imprecision and no significant relationship was found between them and DIVMO. GT measurements can be used to screen straws before alkali-treatments and, together with ABS-REF measurements, to predict straw-treated digestibility.
