The metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) UiO-66-NH2, UiO-66-2,5-(OH)2, UiO-66-NO2, UiO-66-NDC, and UiO-66-BPDC were synthesized under solvothermal conditions using different functionalized organic linkers. The structures and properties of the samples were characterized by X-ray diffraction, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, thermogravimetric analysis, scanning electron microscopy, and nitrogen adsorption-desorption isotherms. The crystal structures of these functionalized UiO-66(Zr) forms were similar. A series of functionalized UiO-66(Zr) samples were used in the adsorption of carbon dioxide (CO2). UiO-66-NH2 had the highest CO2 adsorption capacity (about 3.35 mmol g-1) due to its small polar -NH2 group. The performance of UiO-66-NH2 in CO2 adsorption at different temperatures was also determined. BiOCl/KBiO3 p-n heterostructures with hierarchical mesoporous architectures were successfully synthesized via a facile in situ method. The X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and scanning electron microscope (SEM) results indicate the formation of heterojunctions between BiOCl and KBiO3. The photocatalytic performance of the as-prepared samples was investigated by the degradation of dye Rhodamine B (RhB) under visible light irradiation. BiOCl/KBiO3 composite has never been used to photodegrade the RhB which is a common dye and very difficult to degrade. The results demonstrated that KBiO3 combined with proper amount of BiOCl nanosheets exhibited high efficiency in the photocatalytic process, and BiOCl/KBiO3 with the molar ratio of 70/30 demonstrated the highest photocatalytic activity due to its large surface area, excellent charge separation characteristics and the suppressed recombination of electron-hole pairs. The results of active species detection reveal that the superoxide radical anions (O2-), hydroxyl free radicals (·OH), photogenerated holes (h+) and photogenerated electrons (e-) reactive species work together for the photocatalytic degradation of RhB. A possible and new mechanism of photocatalysis that differs from other teams was also explored and proposed. The present study will benefit the development of the new p-n heterojunction photocatalysts and would be of great importance to meet ever-increasing environmental demands in the future. ABSTRACT Soil salinization restricts crop growth and yield, thereby adversely affecting agricultural development. The stage of seed germination is the most crucial and sensitive stage in the plants’ life cycle and is particularly sensitive to saline-alkali stress. We investigated the effects of different hormonal priming agents, namely melatonin (MT), abscisic acid (ABA) and brassinosteroid (BR), as well as the osmopriming agent, calcium chloride (CaCl2), on the germination of wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) seeds under saline-alkali stress. Saline-alkali stress was simulated with the solution of 100 mM NaCl and 50 mM NaHCO3/Na2CO3 (9:1). The results indicated that hormonal priming agents (ABA, MT, or BR) significantly alleviated saline-alkali stress-induced inhibition of wheat seed germination. The germination rate of seeds primed with ABA, MT, or BR increased by 21.0%, 11.0%, and 10.5%, respectively. The seeds primed with ABA, MT or BR showed improved activities of α- and β-amylase under saline-alkali stress, with corresponding increases in starch hydrolysis and soluble sugar content, which contributed to seed germination and embryo growth. Hormonal priming (ABA, MT, or BR) also significantly improved antioxidase activities to alleviate oxidative damage in germinating seeds under saline-alkali stress. Seeds primed with ABA (38.7%), MT (37.0%), and BR (31.3%) displayed lower malondialdehyde (MDA) content than the H2O-primed seeds. The ABA exerted the most significant promoting effect on wheat seed germination under saline-alkali stress. The promotional effect of CaCl2 on seed germination was nonsignificant compared with that of hydropriming. The results offer a theoretical and practical basis for applying seed priming to enhance the saline-alkali tolerance of wheat in production.

RESUMO: Rhododendron fortunei pertence a uma espécie de rododendro perfumada nativa da China, que produz flores perfumadas de grande valor ornamental e ambiental para paisagismo ou embelezamento de interiores. No entanto, os aromas em Rhododendron fortunei ainda não foram investigados, muito menos o mecanismo de formação dessas fragrâncias nas flores. Neste estudo, medimos os aromas em termos de seus componentes e conteúdos voláteis (VOC) em Rhododendron fortunei em quatro diferentes estágios de floração e em diferentes tecidos da planta por microextração em fase sólida headspace combinada com cromatografia gasosa-espectrometria de massa. Em seguida, foram calculados os valores aromáticos característicos, que refletem o grau de percepção olfativa pelo ser humano, de cada VOC na planta de acordo com seus respectivos limiares aromáticos. Os resultados mostraram que três COVs principais medidos do mais alto ao mais baixo são benzoatos de metila, terpenos e derivados de ácidos graxos. Seu conteúdo aumentou após a abertura do botão floral e atingiu o máximo na metade da floração total. ABSTRACT: Rhododendron fortune belongs to a scented Rhododendron species native to China, which produces fragrant flowers of great ornamental and environmental values for landscaping or indoor beautification. However, the scents in Rhododendron fortuneihave not yet been investigated, let alone the mechanism of the formation of these fragrance in the flowers. In this study, we measured the scents in terms of its volatile components and contents (VOC) in Rhododendron fortuneiat four different flowering stages and in different tissues of the plant by headspace solid-phase micro-extraction combined (HS-SPME) with gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS). Then the characteristic aromatic values, which reflects the degree of scent perception by human, of each VOC in the plant was calculated according to its respective aromatic thresholds. Results showed that three main VOCs measured from highest to lowest are methyl benzoates, terpenes and fatty acid derivatives. Their content increased after the flower bud opening and reached the highest at half to full blossom. In a flower most VOC contents were measured in petals and only trace amount in other tissues such as stamen, pistil. A small amount of VOCs was determined in leaves as well.All aromatic values were almost corresponded to the contents of three main VOCs, indicating that the flower fragrance arises truly from these VOC components. In this work, the asymmetrical rolling of 860 μm thick high-purity titanium (HP-Ti) strips is investigated. HP-Ti ultra-thin strips are produced in thicknesses ranging from 280 μm to 20 μm. ABSTRACT The aim of this review is to comprehensively assess the association between a gluten-free diet (GFD) and metabolic control of type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM) in children and adolescents with T1DM and with T1DM plus coeliac disease (CD). PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library, and Web of Science were searched until June 19, 2023. Primary outcomes were hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c), insulin dose, insulin dose adjusted A1c (IDAA1c), blood glucose (B-glu) at 90 min during Mixed Meal Tolerance Test (MMTT), C-peptide area under the curve (AUC), and C-peptide. Seven studies involving 355 T1DM patients were included. Three studies involving 141 patients compared a GFD to a standard diet in children and adolescents with T1DM without CD. Additionally, two studies with 164 patients examined the same diet comparison in those with T1DM and concurrent CD. A comparison between T1DM with CD and T1DM alone, using a GFD, was conducted in two studies encompassing 50 patients. Patients with T1DM alone had similar HbA1c [pooled weighted mean difference (WMD) = −0.5, 95% confidence interval (CI): −1.0 to 0.1, P = 0.079] and IDAA1c (pooled WMD = −0.4, 95%CI: −0.9 to 0.1, P = 0.095) levels after a GFD and a standard diet. In children and adolescents with T1DM and CD, a GFD was associated with a significantly lower HbA1c compared with a standard diet (pooled WMD = −0.64, 95%CI: −1.22 to −0.05, P = 0.034). Insulin dose was significantly lower in T1DM combined with CD patients having a GFD vs a standard diet (pooled WMD = −0.34, 95%CI: −0.66 to −0.03, P = 0.032). Our study suggests that a GFD may offer significant benefits for children and adolescents with both T1DM and CD over a standard diet. Abstract Objective: To investigate the efficacy of cluster nursing intervention based on Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) for xerostomia in chronic rhinosinusitis after nasal endoscopic surgery. Methods: A total of 80 patients with chronic rhinosinusitis who underwent functional nasal endoscopic surgery between January 2020 and December 2021 were selected and randomly divided into a control group (n = 40) and an experimental group (n = 40). Patients in the control group were treated with general nursing, while ERAS-based cluster nursing intervention was adopted for the experimental group, in addition to general nursing. Xerostomia stage and comfort level were observed at 2h, 6h, 24h and 48h after surgery; negative emotions before and after nursing were also observed. Results: After the intervention, the xerostomia stage and comfort level at 6, 24 and 48 after surgery were higher in the experimental group (p < 0.05). Negative emotions in the experimental group were lower after nursing (p < 0.001). The self-rating depression scale and self-rating anxiety scale scores increased after nursing in both two groups (p < 0.05). Conclusion: Enhanced recovery after surgery-based cluster nursing intervention can alleviate xerostomia, improve patients’ comfort levels, reduce their negative emotions and accelerate postoperative recovery. Abstract Background As a common disabling disease, irreversible neuronal death due to spinal cord injury (SCI) is the root cause of functional impairment; however, the capacity for neuronal regeneration in the developing spinal cord tissue is limited. Therefore, there is an urgent need to investigate how defective neurons can be replenished and functionally integrated by neural regeneration; the reprogramming of intrinsic cells into functional neurons may represent an ideal solution. Methods A mouse model of transection SCI was prepared by forceps clamping, and an adeno-associated virus (AAV) carrying the transcription factors NeuroD1 and Neurogenin-2(Ngn2) was injected in situ into the spinal cord to specifically overexpress these transcription factors in astrocytes close to the injury site. 5-bromo-2´-deoxyuridine (BrdU) was subsequently injected intraperitoneally to continuously track cell regeneration, neuroblasts and immature neurons marker expression, neuronal regeneration, and glial scar regeneration. In addition, immunoprotein blotting was used to measure the levels of transforming growth factor-β (TGF-β) pathway-related protein expression. We also evaluated motor function, sensory function, and the integrity of the blood-spinal cord barrier(BSCB). Results The in situ overexpression of NeuroD1 and Ngn2 in the spinal cord was achieved by specific AAV vectors. The reprogramming of astrocytes can lead to tissue repair, thus improving the reduced threshold and increasing voluntary movements. This strategy can also improve the integrity of the blood-spinal cord barrier and enhance nerve conduction function. However, the simple reprogramming of astrocytes cannot lead to significant improvements in the striding function of the lower limbs.

Abstract Objectives: The degree of endolymphatic hydrops in Meniere’s disease may be related to hearing loss. However, the results of prior studies have been inconsistent. We aimed to investigate the relationship between endolymphatic hydrops and hearing loss characteristics in Meniere’s disease. Methods: This study included 54 patients (62 ears) with Meniere’s disease. Patients underwent three-dimensional real inversion recovery sequences for magnetic resonance imaging and puretone audiometry. Endolymphatic hydrops were assessed according to Gurkov’s criteria (2011). Correlations between different degrees of endolymphatic hydrops and pure-tone audiometry, as well as staging, were analysed. Results: Pure tone audiometry and staging were higher for vestibular endolymphatic hydrops complicated by cochlear ones than isolated cochlear or vestibular hydrops (both p<0.05). There was no significant correlation between vestibular endolymphatic hydrops and pure-tonal audiometry or staging (all p > 0.05). The degree of hydrops in the middle turn was correlated with the mid-frequency hearing threshold (p<0.05). The degree of cochlear hydrops was correlated with the audiometry, low-frequency hearing thresholds, mid-frequency hearing thresholds and staging (p<0.01). Yet, the underlying mechanism remains to be investigated. Here, we aim to investigate the role and mechanism of gastrin in GC proliferation. Gastrin-overexpressing GC cell model was constructed using SGC7901 cells. Then the differentially expressed proteins were identified by iTRAQ analysis. Next, we use flow cytometry and immunofluorescence to study the effect of gastrin on the mitochondrial potential and mitochondria-derived ROS production. Finally, we studied the underlying mechanism of gastrin regulating mitochondrial function using Co-IP, mass spectrometry and immunofluorescence. Overexpression of gastrin promoted GC cell proliferation in vitro and in vivo. A total of 173 proteins were expressed differently between the controls and gastrin- overexpression cells and most of these proteins were involved in tumorigenesis and cell proliferation. Among them, Cox17, Cox5B and ATP5J that were all localized to the mitochondrial respiratory chain were down-regulated in gastrin-overexpression cells. Furthermore, gastrin overexpression led to mitochondrial potential decrease and mitochondria-derived ROS increase. Additionally, gastrin-induced ROS generation resulted in the inhibition of cell apoptosis via activating NF-kB, inhibiting Bax expression and promoting Bcl-2 expression. Finally, we found gastrin interacted with mitochondrial membrane protein Annexin A2 using Co-IP and mass spectrometry. Overexpr ession of gastrin inhibits GC cell apoptosis by inducing mitochondrial dysfunction through interacting with mitochondrial protein Annexin A2, then up-regulating ROS production to activate NF-kB and further leading to Bax/Bcl-2 ratio decrease.

RESUMEN: La gastrina juega un papel vital en el desarrollo y progresión del cáncer gástrico (CG). Su expresión está regulada al alza en tejidos de CG y en varias líneas celulares de CG. Sin embargo, el mecanismo subyacente aun no se ha investigado. El objetivo de este estudio fue investigar el papel y el mecanismo de la gastrina en la proliferación de CG. El modelo de células CG que sobre expresan gastrina se construyó usando células SGC7901. Luego, las proteínas expresadas diferencialmente se identificaron mediante análisis iTRAQ. Abstract Long non-coding RNA AK001796 was initially identified altered in lung cancer. Recent research showed it could participate in the prognosis of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). However, the general biological role of AK001796 and its underlying mechanisms in HCC remain unclear. Here we demonstrated that the expression level of AK001796 in HCC tissues and cell lines was up-regulated. Silencing AK001796 suppressed the proliferation ability of HCC cells. Through dual luciferase reporter assays and loss/gain of functions studies, we identified that AK001796 could bind to miR-150, a star microRNA, promoting HCC proliferation. Furthermore, it was reported that growth factor receptor binding protein 2-associated binder 1 (GAB1) is a target gene of miR-150. Owing to AK001796 being a decoy for miR-150 and binding the same putative sites of miR-150 as GAB1, we presented that inhibition of miR-150 in AK001796 silencing cells reversed the reduction in GAB1. Subsequently, our findings demonstrated that silencing AK001796 can impair phospho-ERK1/2 and phospho-AKT. In conclusion, our investigation revealed that AK001796 promoted proliferation by enhancing phospho-ERK1/2 and phospho-AKT through AK001796/miR-150/GAB1 axis in HCC. ABSTRACT Purpose: Intravenous anesthetics have excellent analgesic activity without inducing the side effect in the respiratory system. The aim and objective of the current experimental study was to access the neuroprotective effect of sevoflurane against isoflurane induced cognitive dysfunction in rats. Methods: Isoflurane was used for induction the neurodysfunction in the rats, and rats received the oral administration of sevoflurane (2.5, 5 and 10 mg/kg). Morris water test was carried out for the estimation of cognitive function. Neurochemical parameters, antioxidant parameters and pro-inflammatory cytokines were also estimated. Results: Sevoflurane significantly (P < 0.001) altered the neurochemical parameters such as anti-choline acetyltransferase, acetylcholine esterase, acetylcholine, protein carbonyl, choline brain-derived neurotrophic factor, and amyloid β; antioxidant parameters such as glutathione, superoxide dismutase, and malondialdehyde; pro-inflammatory cytokines include interleukin (IL-2, IL-10, IL-4, IL-6, IL-10, IL-1β), and tumor necrosis factor-α. OBJECTIVE: The objective of this study was to examine whether the National Institute of Health Stroke Scale was associated with the short- and long-term prognosis of patients with acute ischemic stroke treated with intravenous thrombolysis. METHODS: A total of 247 patients with acute ischemic stroke admitted to the hospital from April 2019 to October 2020 were retrospectively selected as study subjects, and the immediate and long-term prognosis after thrombolysis was assessed using the modified Rankin Scale and divided into good prognosis group (119 cases) and poor prognosis group (128 cases) based on the effect of thrombolysis. Both groups were treated with alteplase, the National Institute of Health Stroke Scale of the two groups was compared, and the factors affecting the prognosis of acute ischemic stroke were analyzed. RESULTS: After intravenous thrombolysis, 24 h, and 7 days of treatment, the National Institute of Health Stroke Scale in the poor prognosis group was higher than those of patients in the good prognosis group, and the differences were statistically significant (p<0.05). Resumen Objetivo Evaluar los efectos de la intervención terapéutica de enfermería con base en el modelo de trayectoria de la enfermedad crónica en la ansiedad y en la calidad de vida de pacientes con enfermedad arterial coronaria (EAC). Métodos Un total de 118 pacientes con EAC admitidos entre febrero de 2019 y febrero de 2021 fueron distribuidos aleatoriamente en grupos control y observación (n = 59). El grupo control recibió intervención de enfermería de rutina, mientras el grupo observación recibió intervención con base en el modelo de trayectoria de la enfermedad crónica. Se compararon los síntomas clínicos, la escala de autoevaluación de ansiedad (EAA), la calidad de vida (CV) y el puntaje de autoeficacia. Se compararon las tasas de incidencia de complicaciones. El análisis de regresión lineal multivariado se realizó para el efecto mediador de la autoeficacia en la relación entre ansiedad y CV. Se elaboró y validó un modelo de ecuación estructural. Resultados Después de la intervención, los síntomas clínicos y el puntuaje de la EAA disminuyeron de forma considerable en ambos grupos, especialmente en el grupo observación (P<0,05). Los puntajes de CV y de autoeficacia aumentaron considerablemente en ambos grupos, particularmente en el grupo de observación (P<0,05). Resumo Objetivo Avaliar os efeitos da intervenção terapêutica de enfermagem baseada no modelo de trajetória da doença crônica na ansiedade e na qualidade de vida de pacientes com doença cardíaca coronária (DCC). Métodos Um total de 118 pacientes com DCC admitidos entre fevereiro de 2019 e fevereiro de 2021 foram distribuídos aleatoriamente em grupos controle e observação (n = 59). Abstract Objective We aimed to assess the effects of nursing intervention therapy based on chronic disease trajectory model on anxiety and quality of life (QOL) of patients with coronary heart disease (CHD). Methods A total of 118 CHD patients admitted from February 2019 to February 2021 were randomly assigned into control and observation groups (n=59). Control group was given routine nursing intervention, while observation group was given intervention based on chronic disease trajectory model. Clinical symptom, self-rating anxiety scale (SAS), QOL and self-efficacy scores were compared. Incidence rates of complications were compared. Multivariate linear regression analysis was performed for the mediating effect of self-efficacy on relationship between anxiety and QOL. A structural equation model was constructed and verified. Results After intervention, clinical symptom and SAS scores significantly declined in both groups, especially in observation group (P<0.05). QOL and self-efficacy scores rose significantly in both groups, particularly in observation group (P<0.05). Self-efficacy score was negatively correlated with SAS score and positively correlated with QOL score, and there was a negative correlation between SAS score and QOL score (P<0.05). The model of self-efficacy, anxiety and QOL had good fitness, and the mediating effect of self-efficacy on relationship between anxiety and QOL was 0.896. The incidence rate of complications was significantly lower in observation group than in control group (P<0.05).
