Abstract Introduction Permanent education in health aims to ensure that professionals are constantly learning in the workplace and in the last few years institutions resorted to the technology-mediated education modality and new teaching possibilities were explored. In Brazil, between 2017 and 2021, only six articles and five monographs were published about listening effort. Objective The objective of this study was to develop a website with scientific content on the topic listening effort for Speech -Language Therapist and Audiologist with free online access. Methods The study was carried out in five stages: Analysis, contemplating the search for scientific materials to prepare the material. Design, in which the writing and design of the website was carried out. Development, carrying out the adequacy of the online material. Implementation, a stage in which professionals in the area evaluated the quality of the material after consenting to participation through a free and informed consent term. Review, stage in which the researcher analyzed the evaluators' responses. Results The five stages of elaboration of the website were carried out, which was evaluated by professionals in the area. The average of responses to all applied questions rated the website as "superior". RESUMO Objetivo: Avaliar a relação entre o peso ao nascer e o sistema nervoso autônomo na vida adulta por meio de uma revisão sistemática. Fontes de dados: Esta é uma revisão sistemática de publicações, sem limitação de ano e idioma. Incluímos estudos envolvendo o sistema nervoso autônomo e peso ao nascer em adultos. Os manuscritos foram selecionados das bases de dados eletrônicos Medical Literature Analysis and Retrieval System Online (MEDLINE), Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature (CINAHL), Web of Science Cochrane Library e Scopus, utilizando “Autonomic Nervous System” OR “Heart Rate” OR “Heart Rate Variability” AND “Birth Weight” como estratégia de busca. ABSTRACT Objective: To evaluate the relationship between birth weight and the autonomic nervous system in adulthood through a systematic review. Data source: This is a systematic review of publications without limitation of year and language. We included studies involving the autonomic nervous system and birth weight in adults. Manuscripts were selected based on electronic searches of Medical Literature Analysis and Retrieval System Online (MEDLINE), Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature (CINAHL), Web of Science Cochrane Library and Scopus databases, using “Autonomic Nervous System” OR “Heart Rate” OR “Heart Rate Variability” AND “Birth Weight” as a search strategy. This review is registered on the International Prospective Register of Systematic Reviews — PROSPERO (ID: CRD42020165622). Data synthesis: We found 894 articles; 215 were excluded for duplicity. ABSTRACT Purpose To analyze the effects of auditory stimulation on heart rate variability (HRV) indices in healthy individuals with normal hearing and with hearing loss, regardless of type and/or grade, by means of a systematic review. Research strategies This is a systematic review with a meta-analysis that addresses the following question: in healthy individuals with normal hearing and/or with hearing loss, what are the effects of auditory stimulation on HRV indices in comparison to silence? We consulted the Cochrane Library, Embase, LILACS, PubMed, Web of Science, and Scopus databases and the gray literature (Google Scholar, OpenGrey, and ProQuest). Selection criteria There were no restrictions as to period or language of publication. Data analysis We identified 451 records, an additional 261 in the gray literature, and five studies in a search through the references, resulting in a total of 717 records, with 171 duplicate records. After screening the titles and abstracts of 546 studies, we excluded 490 and considered 56 studies in full to assess their eligibility. RESUMO Objetivo investigar a existência de associação entre a Variabilidade da Frequência Cardíaca (VFC) e a sensibilidade auditiva em crianças saudáveis no primeiro ano de vida, por meio dos índices RMSSD (Raiz Quadrada Média das Diferenças Sucessivas) e SD1 (Desvio padrão perpendicular à linha de identidade do gráfico de Poincaré). Métodos trata-se de um estudo metodológico, com a avaliação de 20 crianças, divididas em dois grupos: 10 crianças sem perda auditiva (G1) e 10 crianças com perda auditiva, independentemente do tipo e/ou do grau (G2). O estímulo clique foi apresentado nas intensidades de 30-60 dB nNA. Para a captação da VFC utilizou-se o monitor cardíaco Polar RS800CX, com taxa amostral de 1.000 Hz. Foram selecionadas séries estáveis com 60 intervalos R-R e apenas àquelas com mais de 95% de batimentos sinusais foram incluídas. A análise de variância ANOVA 2 critérios de medidas repetidas foi utilizada para avaliar os efeitos da estimulação acústica nos índices RMSSD e SD1, no silêncio e na presença do estímulo clique, nos grupos G1 e G2. ABSTRACT Purpose to investigate the existence of an association between Heart Rate Variability (HRV) and hearing sensitivity in healthy children in the first year of life, using the RMSSD (Root Mean Square of Successive Differences) and SD1 (Poincaré plot standard deviation perpendicular to the line of identity) indices. Methods this is a methodological study with evaluation of 20 children divided into two groups: 10 children without hearing loss (G1) and 10 children with hearing loss, regardless of type and/or degree (G2). The click stimulus was presented at intensities of 30-60 dB nHL. To capture the HRV, a Polar RS800CX heart monitor was used, with a sample rate of 1.000 Hz. Stable sets with 60 R-R intervals were selected and only those with more than 95% sinus beats were included. The analysis of the 2-way repeated measures ANOVA test was used to evaluate the effects of acoustic stimulation on the RMSSD and SD1 indices, in silence and in the presence of the click stimulus, in groups G1 and G2. The factor analysis was applied to evaluate the indices with the factors sex, tested ear, behavioral state of the child and test period. ABSTRACT Acne, of great prevalence and impact, presents many forms that can be treated by hygiene, topical medications, and manual alternative interventions such as skin cleansing and electrotherapy. The use of radiofrequency in the treatment of acne aims to increase the temperature in the cutaneous tissue, causing several metabolic and structural reactions, such as stimulating neocollagenesis. This study aimed to investigate the use of high-frequency current as an adjunctive treatment for acne. This is a non-systematic review of indexed databases (MEDLINE, SciELO, LILACS). Resumo Fundamento Tem-se sugerido que o consumo de bebidas energéticas (BEs) possa afetar a atividade cardiovascular. Objetivos Investigar os efeitos agudos da ingestão de BE sobre a variabilidade da frequência cardíaca (VFC) recuperação cardiovascular após exercício aeróbico moderado em homens de diferentes capacidades cardiorrespiratórias. Métodos Este é um estudo randomizado, duplo cego, crossover, controlado por placebo. Vinte e oito jovens adultos foram divididos em dois grupos de acordo com o pico de consumo de oxigênio (pico de VO2): (1) pico de VO2 alto (AO) – pico de VO2 > 52,15 mL/Kg/min, e (2) pico de VO2 baixo (BO) - pico de VO2 <52,15 mL/Kg/min. Os indivíduos de ambos os grupos foram submetidos a dois protocolos de exercícios em ordem aleatória: exercício moderado aeróbico (60% de pico de VO2) após a ingestão de 250 mL de água (protocolo placebo) ou 250 mL de BE (protocolo BE). Durante os testes de exercício, foram registrados valores de parâmetros cardiorrespiratórios e de VFC. Resultados Foram observadas diferenças significativas para o índice de LF (unidades normalizadas) entre “repouso” e “Rec1” nos grupos de AO e BO durante o protocolo BE. Para a razão LF/HF, foram observadas diferenças significativas entre “repouso” e Rec1 nos grupos AO e BO nos protocolos BE. Conclusão A ingestão aguda de BE retardou a recuperação da frequência cardíaca após o exercício em indivíduos com capacidade cardiorrespiratória baixa e indivíduos com capacidade cardiorrespiratória alta.

Abstract Background It has been suggested that the consumption of energy drinks (ED) may affect cardiovascular activity. Objectives to investigate the acute effects of ED intake on heart rate variability (HRV) and cardiovascular recovery after moderate aerobic exercise in males with different cardiorespiratory capacities. Methods This is a randomized, double-blind, crossover, placebo-controlled study. Twenty-eight young adults were split into two groups according to their peak oxygen consumption (VO2peak) values: (1) High VO2 peak (HO) - VO2 peak > 52.15 mL/kg/min, and (2) low VO2 peak (LO) - peak VO2 <52.15 mL/kg/min. Subjects of both groups underwent two exercise protocols in randomized order: moderate aerobic exercise (60% of VO2peak) following the intake of 250 mL of water (placebo protocol) or 250 mL of ED (ED protocol). During the exercise tests, values of cardiorespiratory and HRV parameters were recorded. Results Significant differences were observed for the LF (normalized units) index between rest and Rec1 in HO energy and LO groups during the ED protocol. For the LF/HF ratio, significant differences were seen between rest and Rec1 in HO and LO during ED protocols. Conclusion Acute ED intake delayed heart rate recovery after exercise in subjects with low and high cardiorespiratory fitness.

Abstract Swyer syndrome is one of the disorders of sexual differentiation. Previous studies have demonstrated increased sympathetic activity with heart rate variability (HRV) analysis with decreasing estradiol levels. One patient presented a pure 46, XY gonadal dysgenesis with female phenotype. Cardiac autonomic modulation was assessed through HRV analysis while at rest. This research analyzed linear and nonlinear indexes. HRV analysis showed reduced parasympathetic and global modulation with an apparent increase in sympathetic tone and a loss of HR fractal dynamics toward correlated behavior, characterized by low entropy and high determinism of time series.

Foi realizada uma revisão sistemática da literatura de artigos publicados em periódicos nacionais e internacionais. Os seguintes critérios de inclusão para os artigos foram adotados: amostra composta por adolescentes do sexo feminino e artigos publicados no período de 2005 a 2015. Foram incluídos 18 estudos com uma disparidade regional nas publicações de estudos na Europa (61,2%). A maioria dos estudos (95%) utilizou questionários como instrumentos de pesquisa para a atividade física e 55% utilizou escalas para analisar a imagem corporal, cujos conteúdos variaram, assim como as definições operacionais de atividade física e imagem corporal, dificultando a comparação dos resultados. Não observamos aumento na produção da literatura. Concluindo, os principais achados da presente revisão referem-se à falta de padrão na mensuração da atividade física e na análise da imagem corporal. Dessa forma, embora seja uma temática presente na literatura, é possível considerar que a diversidade de delineamento metodológico entre os estudos dificulta a comparação entre os dados, tornado imperativa a padronização de instrumentos e definições essenciais.

Several studies (95%) used questionnaires as a research instrument to assess physical activity and 55% studies used scales to analyze the body image. No increase was found in the production of literature involving body image study and physical active behavior in healthy female adolescents. In conclusion, the main findings of this review relate to the lack of parameters for the measurement of physical activity and body image analysis. Thus, although it is a current thematic area in the literature, it is possible to consider that the diversity of methodological design between studies makes it difficult to compare the data, making it imperative to standardize instruments and definitions.

INTRODUÇÃO: Medidas de pressão inspiratória máxima e pressão expiratória máxima são usados para avaliar a força desenvolvida pelos músculos respiratórios. Tais medidas são também utilizadas como critérios para o desmame da ventilação mecânica, para determinar as consequências funcionais de várias doenças sistêmicas e do desenvolvimento de doenças pulmonares e neuromusculares. OBJETIVO: Verificar a presença do efeito de aprendizado nas mensurações de pressão inspiratória e expiratória máximas. MÉTODO: Foram realizadas 15 medições sequenciais de pressão inspiratória máxima e 15 de pressão expiratória máxima em 71 indivíduos. Os resultados para ambas as séries foram comparados ao longo de cada série RESULTADOS: As comparações entre a primeira e as demais medidas não apresentaram diferenças estatisticamente significativas (p > 0,05). CONCLUSÃO: Não houve efeito aprendizado em 15 medidas repetidas de pressão inspiratória máxima ou pressão expiratória máxima em adultos saudáveis.

BACKGROUND: Measurements of maximal inspiratory and expiratory pressure are used to assess the pressure developed by the respiratory muscles and the passive elastic recoil of the pulmonary system. Such measurements are also used as criteria for weaning from mechanical ventilation, to determine the functional consequences of several systemic diseases and the development of lung diseases and neuromuscular disorders. The test in na outpatient setting is easy to perform, well tolerated and has predictive value OBJECTIVE: To verify the presence of a learning effect in measurements of maximal inspiratory and expiratory pressures. METHODS: We performed 15 sequential measurements of Maximal Inspiratory Pressure and 15 of Maximal Expiratory Pressure in 71 individuals. Results for both series were compared throughout each series. RESULTS: The comparison between the first and the other measurements showed no statistically significant differences. (p > 0.05). CONCLUSIONS: There was no learning effect with 15 repeated measurements of Maximal Inspiratory or Expiratory Pressure in healthy adults.

OBJETIVO: A estimulação auditiva com música relaxante pode melhorar a regulação autonômica cardíaca em indivíduos tratados com um medicamento cardiotóxica. Avaliamos o efeito agudo de música heavy metal sobre a regulação autonômica cardíaca, por meio de novas técnicas de análise, ditas globalmente caóticas de espectrais altos: (a) high spectral detrended fluctuation, (b) high spectral entropy (c) spectral multi-taper method. MÉTODO: Estudamos mulheres jovens entre 18 e 30 anos de idade expostas a música heavy metal (75-84 dB) durante 20 min. Foram aplicados os seguintes testes de normalidade: (i) Anderson-Darling, (ii) Ryan-Joiner (similhante ao de Shapiro-Wilk); (iii) Lilliefors para baixo número de indivíduos. Todos indicaram que os dados obtidos apresentavam distribuição não-normal. Consequentemente foi aplicado o teste não-paramétrico de Kruskal-Wallis. Por causa da pequena população, utilizou-se um nível de significância mais amplo do que o habitual (p crítico = 0,1). RESULTADOS: A aplicação dos três testes para normalidade e o teste não-paramétrico de significância pela técnica de Kruskal-Wallis mostrou que a estimulação auditiva musical aguda com metais pesados produziu um aumento significativo (p < 0,07) em uma das sete combinações de globais caóticos. A combinação de globais caóticos que é mais importante é a "Chaos Forward Paremeter one" (VFP1) na qual se manifestam todos os três globais caóticos aplicados (high spectral detrended fluctuation, high spectral entropy, spectral multi-taper method). Encontramos um aumento significativo durante a estimulação auditiva musical para este parâmetro específico. CONCLUSÃO: Sugere-se que a estimulação musical aguda com heavy metal influencia a regulação autonômica cardíaca em um nível mais complexo e pode ser benéfica para a função cardíaca.

OBJECTIVE: Auditory stimulation with relaxing style music can improve cardiac autonomic regulation in subjects treated with a cardio-toxic medication. We assess the acute effect of heavy metal music on cardiac autonomic regulation, through novel high spectral chaotic global analysis techniques: (a) high spectral detrended fluctuation, (b) high spectral entropy (c) spectral multi-taper method. METHOD: We investigated young adult women between 18 and 30 years old exposed to heavy metal (75-84 dB) music for 20 min. Normality tests were applied: (i) Anderson-Darling, (ii) Ryan-Joiner (similar to Shapiro-Wilk); (iii) Lilliefors for low number of subjects. They all indicated a non-normal data distribution. Consequently we applied the Kruskal-Wallis non-parametric test. Also because of the small population, we used a broader than usual level of significance (critical p = 0.1). RESULTS: The application of the three tests for normality and the non-parametric test of significance by the Kruskal-Wallis technique showed that acute musical auditory stimulation with heavy metal music lead to a significant increase (p < 0.07) in one of the seven combinations of chaotic globals. The most significant combination of chaotic globals is the Chaos Forward Parameter One (CFP1), which includes all three studied chaotic globals (high spectral detrended fluctuation, high spectral entropy, spectral multi-taper method). We found significantly increased values during musical auditory stimulation for this specific CFP1. CONCLUSION: It is suggested that acute musical stimulation with heavy metal influences cardiac autonomic regulation at a more complex level than previously reported and that this may be beneficial to heart function.

RESUMO JUSTIFICATIVA E OBJETIVOS: A dor é comum nas enfermarias e dificulta o tratamento e a recuperação dos pacientes, principalmente ortopédicos. Assim, o objetivo deste estudo foi avaliar a adequação da analgesia em pacientes submetidos a cirurgias ortopédicas, no pré e pós-operatório, e verificar possíveis variáveis preditoras da adequação analgésica desses pacientes nos dois momentos. MÉTODOS: Trata-se de um estudo quase-experimental com dois grupos, pré e pós-operatório ortopédico, realizado através de entrevista estruturada, exame físico e análise de prontuário, na Clínica Cirúrgica do Hospital Escola da Faculdade de Medicina de Itajubá/MG, desenvolvido com pacientes no pré e pós-operatório de cirurgia ortopédica. RESULTADOS: Foram avaliados 31 pacientes, todos tinham prescrição médica de algum fármaco analgésico, sendo o opioide fraco o mais prescrito em 84% dos casos no pré-operatório passando para 87% no pós-operatório; 39% não apresentavam dor no pré-operatório, diminuindo para 36% no pós-operatório. Por outro lado, 39% dos pacientes apresentaram dor moderada a intensa no pré-operatório, aumentando para 45% no período pós-operatório, 74% apresentaram adequação analgésica no pré-operatório, aumentando para 81% no pós-operatório. CONCLUSÃO: A maior parte dos pacientes desta pesquisa tinha adequação analgésica no pré e pós-operatório de cirurgia ortopédica. Na amostra estudada, as variáveis selecionadas não apresentaram predição da adequação analgésica nos dois momentos da cirurgia ortopédica.

ABSTRACT BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: Pain is frequent in wards and impairs patients’ treatment and recovery, especially orthopedic patients. So, this study aimed at evaluating pre and postoperative analgesic adequacy in patients submitted to orthopedic surgeries, and at looking for possible variables predicting the analgesic adequacy of such patients in both moments. METHODS: This is a quasi-experimental study with two groups, orthopedic pre and postoperative periods, carried out through structured interview, physical evaluation and medical record analysis, in the Surgical Clinic of the Teaching Hospital, School of Medicine, Itajuba/MG, developed with patients in the pre and postoperative periods of orthopedic surgery. RESULTS: Participated in the study 31 patients, all of them with medical prescription of some analgesic drug, being weak opioids those most frequently prescribed in 84% of preoperative cases, increasing to 87% in the postoperative period; 39% had no preoperative pain, decreasing to 36% in the postoperative period. On the other hand, 39% of patients had moderate to severe pain in the preoperative period, increasing to 45% in the postoperative period, being that 74% had analgesic adequacy in the preoperative period, increasing to 81% in the postoperative period. CONCLUSION: Most patients of this study had adequate analgesia in the pre and postoperative periods of orthopedic surgery. In our sample, selected variables have not adequately predicted analgesic adequacy in both moments of the orthopedic surgery.

Introdução: O ruído de impacto é caracterizado por apresentar picos de energia acústica de duração inferior a um segundo, em intervalos superiores a um segundo. Objetivo: Quantificar os níveis de ruído de impacto a que o policial militar fica exposto durante atividades de tiro com armas de fogo e analisar a atenuação do protetor auricular utilizado. Método: As medições foram realizadas no estande de tiros de um Batalhão da Polícia Militar. Para a medição dos níveis de pressão sonora foi utilizado um audiodosímetro modelo SV 102 (Svantek). Foram utilizados dois microfones simultaneamente: um externo e outro tipo inserção, e a arma utilizada foi a pistola calibre 40, da marca Taurus®. Resultados: Os valores obtidos no microfone externo foram de 146 dBC (pico) e ruído máximo de 129,4 dBC (fast). Os resultados obtidos no microfone de inserção foram de 138,7 dBC (pico) e ruído máximo de 121,6 dBC (fast). Conclusão: Nossos achados evidenciaram elevados níveis de pressão sonora no estande de tiros, que ultrapassaram os limites máximos recomendados (120 dBC), mesmo em medição com microfone de inserção. Portanto, alternativas para melhorar o desempenho da proteção auditiva devem ser consideradas pela equipe de segurança da corporação.

Introduction: Impact noise is characterized by acoustic energy peaks that last less than a second, at intervals of more than 1 s. Objective: To quantify the levels of impact noise to which police officers are exposed during activities at the shooting range and to evaluate the attenuation of the hearing protector. Methods: Measurements were performed in the shooting range of a military police department. An SV 102 audiodosimeter (Svantek) was used to measure sound pressure levels. Two microphones were used simultaneously: one external and one insertion type; the firearm used was a 0.40 Taurus® rimless pistol. Results: The values obtained with the external microphone were 146 dBC (peak), and a maximum sound level of 129.4 dBC (fast). The results obtained with the insertion microphone were 138.7dBC (peak), and a maximum sound level of 121.6 dBC (fast). Conclusion: The findings showed high levels of sound pressure in the shooting range, which exceeded the maximum recommended noise (120 dBC), even when measured through the insertion microphone. Therefore, alternatives to improve the performance of hearing protection should be considered.
