Resumo Introdução: O exercício físico está sendo incorporado ao tratamento de pacientes em hemodiálise, porém pouco se sabe sobre as principais características dessas intervenções. Objetivo: Descrever os protocolos de exercício físico prescritos para pacientes em hemodiálise no Brasil. Métodos: Uma revisão de escopo foi conduzida de acordo com as diretrizes JBI e Prisma-ScR. Foram realizadas pesquisas na Medline, Embase e em outras três bases de dados até maio de 2024. Outras fontes (sites, livros e diretrizes) também foram pesquisadas. Foram incluídas evidências de pacientes em hemodiálise, descrevendo protocolos de exercício físico em todos os ambientes e desenhos no Brasil. Resultados: Encontradas 45 evidências, resultando em 54 protocolos de exercício físico de 16 estados brasileiros. O exercício de força (33,3%), seguido do exercício aeróbico (22,2%), foi o mais prescrito para ser realizado durante a diálise (85,2%). Os profissionais mais prevalentes na supervisão dos programas foram fisioterapeutas e profissionais de educação física (37,0% e 18,5%, respectivamente). Todos os protocolos adotaram os princípios de treinamento tipo e frequência, enquanto a progressão foi adotada em apenas 53,7%. A frequência mais prescrita foi três vezes por semana (88,9%). A intensidade do exercício foi determinada predominantemente por métodos subjetivos (33,3%). Conclusão: Os exercícios aeróbicos e de força durante a diálise foram as modalidades mais prescritas no Brasil, com a maioria dos programas sendo adequadamente supervisionada por profissionais qualificados. Abstract Introduction: Exercise is being incorporated into the treatment of patients on hemodialysis; however, little is known about the major characteristics of these interventions. Objective: To describe the exercise protocols prescribed for hemodialysis patients in Brazil. Methods: A scoping review was conducted following JBI and Prisma-ScR guidelines. Searches were carried out in Medline, Embase and three other databases until May 2024. Other sources (websites, books and guidelines) were also investigated. Evidence from patients on hemodialysis describing exercise protocols in all settings and designs in Brazil was included. Results: Forty-five pieces of evidence were found, resulting in 54 exercise protocols from 16 Brazilian states. Strength exercises (33.3%), followed by aerobic exercises (22.2%), were the most prescribed, mainly to be performed during dialysis (85.2%). The most prevalent professionals supervising the programs were physiotherapists and exercise physiologists (37.0% and 18.5%, respectively). All protocols implemented the principles of type and frequency training, while progression was adopted in only 53.7%. The main prescription was three times per week (88.9%). Exercise intensity was predominantly determined by subjective methods (33.3%). Conclusion: Aerobic and strength exercises during dialysis were the most commonly prescribed modalities in Brazil, with the majority of programs being properly supervised by qualified professionals. Neste contexto, o objetivo do presente estudo foi avaliar a produção da soja cultivada sob diferentes formas de adubação e estresse salino, inoculada com Bacillus sp. ABSTRACT The use of Bacillus sp. mitigates salt stress and increases the productive yield in soybean plants. In this context, the objective of the present study was to evaluate the production of soybean grown under different forms of fertilization and salt stress, inoculated with Bacillus sp. Abstract Excessive salts in irrigation water and water stress have a negative impact on the productive yield of agricultural crops. In this regard, the objective was to evaluate the effect of combined saline and water stress on the agronomic performance of the beet crop. The experiment was conducted in a greenhouse located at the Universidade da Integração Internacional da Lusofonia Afro-Brasileira, in Redenção, Ceará. The experimental design used was completely randomized with split-plots arrangement. The main plots were formed by the electrical conductivities of the irrigation water (0.8, 1.5, 3.0, 4.5, and 6.0 dS m-1), while the irrigation depths of 50 and 100% of the crop evapotranspiration (ETc) were the subplots, with 6 replications. In this context, the objective was to evaluate the yield of sorghum crop under salt stress and different strategies for using plant mulch. Abstract: Background: Provisia rice and glyphosate-resistant soybean can control imidazolinone(IMI)-resistant weedy rice (WR-R) and reduce the soil seedbank. Objective: We evaluated different systems to reduce the WR-R soil seedbank under analysis when adopting soybean and Provisia rice (PV). Methods: From 2017 to 2022, a field experiment in randomized block design with four repetitions was performed. In 2017-2018, WR-R and Clearfield® rice (CL) were sown in the area. Resumo Investigou-se se a discriminação racial acelera o ganho de peso corporal e o Índice de Massa Corporal (IMC) em pretos e pardos participantes do Estudo Longitudinal de Saúde do Adulto (ELSA-Brasil) em quatro anos de seguimento. Comparou-se o peso corporal e o IMC entre a 1ª (2008-2010) e a 2ª visita (2012-2014) de 5.983 participantes pretos e pardos. A exposição à discriminação racial e às covariáveis (idade, sexo, escolaridade e centro de pesquisa) foram obtidas na 1ª visita. Foram utilizados modelos lineares de efeitos mistos estratificados por raça/cor da pele. O relato de discriminação racial foi mais frequente entre pretos (32,1%) do que em pardos (6,3%). Durante o período de acompanhamento, pretos e pardos ganharam uma média de 1,4kg e 1,2kg, respectivamente. Esse aumento foi maior entre os que relataram discriminação, quando comparados aos que não relataram, tanto em pretos (2,1 kg vs. 1,0 kg, p < 0,001) quanto em pardos (1,9kg vs. 1,1kg, p < 0,05). Após ajustes, os pretos, mas não os pardos, que relataram discriminação racial apresentaram maiores ganhos de peso e IMC entre as visitas. Abstract We investigated whether racial discrimination accelerates the weight and Body Mass Index (BMI) gain in Blacks and Browns participants of the Brazilian Longitudinal Study of Adult Health (ELSA-Brasil) in four years of follow-up. We compared body weight and BMI between the 1st (2008-2010) and 2nd visit (2012-2014) of 5,983 Blacks and Browns participants. Exposure to racial discrimination and covariates (age, sex, education, and research center) were obtained at the 1st visit. Linear mixed effects models stratified by race/skin color were used. Report of racial discrimination was more frequent among Blacks (32.1%) than Browns (6.3%). During the follow-up period, Blacks and Browns gained an average of 1.4kg and 1.2kg, respectively. This increase was greater among those who reported discrimination when compared to those who did not, both in Blacks (2.1kg vs.1.0kg, p < 0.001) and Browns (1.9kg vs. 1.1kg, p < 0.05). The results of the interaction between racial discrimination and time showed that Blacks, but not Browns, who reported racial discrimination had greater weight and BMI gains between visits. Our results suggest that reducing racial discrimination would contribute to prevent and/or control obesity increase in the country. RESUMO O objetivo principal deste trabalho foi avaliar o uso de imagens térmicas para estimar o estado hídrico de plantas de meloeiro (Cucumis melo L.) sob clima tropical semiárido. O estudo foi realizado em delineamento de blocos casualizados, em esquema de parcelas subdivididas. As parcelas foram compostas pela cobertura do solo (com e sem cobertura morta) e as subparcelas por cinco regimes de irrigação (120, 100, 80, 60 e 40% da evapotranspiração da cultura - ETc), com cinco repetições. Foram avaliadas as seguintes variáveis: temperatura do dossel (Tdossel), potencial hídrico foliar (Ψfolha), temperatura do ar (Tair), umidade do solo, produtividade da cultura e índice térmico (ΔT), sendo este definido como a diferença entre Tdossel e Tair. O ΔT apresentou altas correlações com a produtividade da cultura e o consumo de água da cultura, evidenciando que a termografia é uma ferramenta eficiente para identificar o estado hídrico das plantas de meloeiro e pode ser empregada para uma adequada programação da irrigação em cenários do semiárido tropical. Além disso, o uso de imagens térmicas também permitiu identificar os efeitos benéficos da cobertura do solo sobre o estado hídrico foliar e a produtividade das culturas, principalmente sob moderado déficit de irrigação (DI). ABSTRACT The objective of this study was to analyze the feasibility of using thermal images to estimate the water status of melon plants (Cucumis melo L.) in tropical semi-arid climates. The study was conducted in a randomized block design with a split-plot arrangement. The plots comprised of soil cover (with and without mulching), and subplots were constructed using five irrigation regimes (120, 100, 80, 60, and 40% crop evapotranspiration), with five replicates. Abstract We investigated whether racial discrimination accelerates the weight and Body Mass Index (BMI) gain in Blacks and Browns participants of the Brazilian Longitudinal Study of Adult Health (ELSA-Brasil) in four years of follow-up. We compared body weight and BMI between the 1st (2008-2010) and 2nd visit (2012-2014) of 5,983 Blacks and Browns participants. Exposure to racial discrimination and covariates (age, sex, education, and research center) were obtained at the 1st visit. Linear mixed effects models stratified by race/skin color were used. Report of racial discrimination was more frequent among Blacks (32.1%) than Browns (6.3%). During the follow-up period, Blacks and Browns gained an average of 1.4kg and 1.2kg, respectively. This increase was greater among those who reported discrimination when compared to those who did not, both in Blacks (2.1kg vs.1.0kg, p < 0.001) and Browns (1.9kg vs. 1.1kg, p < 0.05). The results of the interaction between racial discrimination and time showed that Blacks, but not Browns, who reported racial discrimination had greater weight and BMI gains between visits. Our results suggest that reducing racial discrimination would contribute to prevent and/or control obesity increase in the country.

Resumo Investigou-se se a discriminação racial acelera o ganho de peso corporal e o Índice de Massa Corporal (IMC) em pretos e pardos participantes do Estudo Longitudinal de Saúde do Adulto (ELSA-Brasil) em quatro anos de seguimento. Comparou-se o peso corporal e o IMC entre a 1ª (2008-2010) e a 2ª visita (2012-2014) de 5.983 participantes pretos e pardos. A exposição à discriminação racial e às covariáveis (idade, sexo, escolaridade e centro de pesquisa) foram obtidas na 1ª visita. Foram utilizados modelos lineares de efeitos mistos estratificados por raça/cor da pele. O relato de discriminação racial foi mais frequente entre pretos (32,1%) do que em pardos (6,3%). Durante o período de acompanhamento, pretos e pardos ganharam uma média de 1,4kg e 1,2kg, respectivamente. Esse aumento foi maior entre os que relataram discriminação, quando comparados aos que não relataram, tanto em pretos (2,1 kg vs. 1,0 kg, p < 0,001) quanto em pardos (1,9kg vs. 1,1kg, p < 0,05). Após ajustes, os pretos, mas não os pardos, que relataram discriminação racial apresentaram maiores ganhos de peso e IMC entre as visitas. Nossos resultados sugerem que a redução da discriminação racial pode contribuir para prevenir e/ou controlar o aumento da obesidade no país.

Abstract Objective: To assess factors associated with emotional changes and Hyperactivity/Inattention (HI) motivated by COVID-19 quarantine in adolescents with immunocompromising diseases. Methods: A cross-sectional study included 343 adolescents with immunocompromising diseases and 108 healthy adolescents. Online questionnaires were answered including socio-demographic data and self-rated healthcare routine during COVID-19 quarantine and validated surveys: Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire (SDQ), Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI), Pediatric Quality of Life Inventory 4.0 (PedsQL4.0). Results: The frequencies of abnormal emotional SDQ scores from adolescents with chronic diseases were similar to those of healthy subjects (110/343 [32%] vs. 38/108 [35%], p = 0.548), as well as abnormal hyperactivity/inattention SDQ scores (79/343 [23%] vs. 29/108 [27%], p = 0.417). Logistic regression analysis of independent variables associated with abnormal emotional scores from adolescents with chronic diseases showed: female sex (Odds Ratio [OR = 3.76]; 95% Confidence Interval (95% CI) 2.00–7.05; p < 0.001), poor sleep quality (OR = 2.05; 95% CI 1.08–3.88; p = 0.028) and intrafamilial violence during pandemic (OR = 2.17; 95% CI 1.12–4.19; p = 0.021) as independently associated with abnormal emotional scores, whereas total PedsQL score was inversely associated with abnormal emotional scores (OR = 0.95; 95% CI 0.93–0.96; p < 0.0001). Logistic regression analysis associated with abnormal HI scores from patients evidenced that total PedsQL score (OR = 0.97; 95% CI 0.95–0.99; p = 0.010], changes in medical appointments during the pandemic (OR = 0.39; 95% CI 0.19–0.79; p = 0.021), and reliable COVID-19 information (OR = 0.35; 95% CI 0.16–0.77; p = 0.026) remained inversely associated with abnormal HI scores. Conclusion: The present study showed emotional and HI disturbances in adolescents with chronic immunosuppressive diseases during the COVID-19 pandemic. It reinforces the need to promptly implement a longitudinal program to protect the mental health of adolescents with and without chronic illnesses during future pandemics. Resumo As bactérias responsáveis por causar infecções são comuns em ambientes hospitalares, água, solo e produtos alimentícios. O risco de infecção é intensificado pela ausência de saneamento público, má qualidade de vida e escassez de alimentos. Esses fatores externos promovem a disseminação de patógenos por contaminação direta ou formação de biofilme. Neste trabalho, identificamos isolados bacterianos obtidos de unidades de terapia intensiva na região sul do Tocantins, Brasil. Comparamos técnicas de espectrometria de massa de tempo de voo com ionização por dessorção a laser assistida por matriz (MALDI-TOF MS) e análise molecular de ácido ribonucleico ribossômico 16S (rRNA); também realizamos caracterização fenotípica. Cinquenta e seis isolados caracterizados por testes morfotintoriais foram classificados como gram-positivos (80,3%; n = 45) e gram-negativos (19,6%; n = 11) e foram resistentes a várias classes de antibióticos; notavelmente, identificamos o gene de resistência blaOXA-23 no isolado de ILH10. A identificação microbiana usando MALDI-TOF MS resultou na identificação de Sphingomonas paucimobilis e Bacillus circulans. O sequenciamento do 16S rRNA revelou quatro isolados pertencentes aos gêneros Bacillus e Acinetobacter. A similaridade foi superior a 99% para Acinetobacter schindleri no BLAST, agrupado no clado superior a 90%. Várias cepas isoladas de ICU foram resistentes a várias classes de antibióticos. Abstract Bacteria responsible for causing infections are common in hospital environments, water, soil, and food products. The infection risk is intensified by the absence of public sanitation, poor quality of life, and food scarcity. These external factors promote the dissemination of pathogens by direct contamination or biofilm formation. In this work, we identified bacterial isolates obtained from intensive care units in the southern region of Tocantins, Brazil. We compared matrix-assisted laser desorption ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometry (MALDI-TOF MS) techniques and 16S ribosomal ribonucleic acid (rRNA) molecular analysis; we also performed phenotypic characterization. Fifty-six isolates characterized using morphotinctorial tests were classified as gram-positive (80.4%; n = 45) and gram-negative (19.6%; n = 11) and were resistant to several antibiotic classes; notably, we identified the blaOXA-23 resistance gene in the ILH10 isolate. Microbial identification using MALDI-TOF MS resulted in the identification of Sphingomonas paucimobilis and Bacillus circulans. 16S rRNA sequencing revealed four isolates belonging to the genera Bacillus and Acinetobacter. Abstract Understanding the influence of fine-scale abiotic filters on plant communities can provide important insights into floristic patterns of the Brazilian Cerrado. We aimed to evaluate the interactions of the soil and the plant community composition with their distribution in different sandy environments of Brazilian Cerrado, the Jalapão region. Eight environments were sampled, each with ten plots of 20 × 50 m. All woody individuals presenting circumference at soil height ≥ 10 cm were sampled. Subplots of 5 × 15 m were demarcated, where woody individuals with a circumference at soil height ≥ 5 and < 10 cm were sampled. Subplots of 2 × 2 m were also demarcated to sample herbaceous individuals. Soil samples varying from 0 to 20 cm of depth were collected for each plot (20 × 50 m). Overall, 20000 individuals that belong to 338 species and 76 families were sampled. The dominant family was Fabaceae. There were significant differences among the environments regarding species richness and soil. The analyzed soils are extremely poor and with a tendency to sandy texture, small chemical and/or physical variations imply differences in the distribution of vegetation. RESUMO A salinidade da água de irrigação pode causar sérios problemas na produção agrícola, enquanto as fontes de fertilizantes orgânicos potencialmente mitigam o estresse salino. Assim, este trabalho teve como objetivo avaliar a produtividade da cultura do milho sob irrigação com água salina e adubação orgânica. O estudo foi conduzido em campo de agosto a novembro de 2020 na fazenda experimental da Universidade da Integração Internacional da Lusofonia Afro-Brasileira (UNILAB), Redenção-CE. Utilizou-se o delineamento em blocos casualizados, em parcelas subdivididas, em que as parcelas consistiram em dois níveis de salinidade da água de irrigação (0,8 e 3,0 dS m-1). Nas subparcelas foram aplicadas quatro combinações de fontes de adubo orgânico, compostas por 10 plantas cada, com quatro repetições: C1, esterco bovino + biofertilizante de aves + biofertilizante de cabra; C2, esterco bovino + biofertilizante caprino; C3, esterco bovino + biofertilizante de aves; e C4, tratamento controle. A combinação de fontes de fertilizantes orgânicos não influenciou o acúmulo de assimilados e a produtividade das lavouras de milho sob a salinidade da água de irrigação de 3,0 dS m-1, exceto C3, que atenuou o efeito salino.

ABSTRACT Irrigation water salinity can cause serious problems in crop production, while organic fertilizer sources potentially mitigate saline stress. Thus, this study aimed to evaluate the productivity of maize crops under irrigation with saline water and organic fertilization. The study was conducted in the field from August to November 2020 at the experimental farm of the Universidade da Integração Internacional da Lusofonia Afro-Brasileira (UNILAB), Redenção-CE. A randomized block design was used, in subdivided plots, in which the plots consisted of two levels of irrigation water salinity (0.8 and 3.0 dS m-1). Four combinations of organic fertilizer sources were applied in the subplots, composed of 10 plants each, with four replications: C1, cattle manure + poultry biofertilizer + goat biofertilizer; C2, cattle manure + goat biofertilizer; C3, cattle manure + poultry biofertilizer; and C4, control treatment. The combination of organic fertilizer sources did not influence the accumulation of assimilates and productivity of maize crops under the irrigation water salinity of 3.0 dS m-1, except for C3, which attenuated the saline effect.

The antifungal potential of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) produced by actinobacterial strains Streptomyces sp. (ACTB-77) and Amycolatopsis sp. (ACTB-290) from the rhizosphere of Caatinga plants against Colletotrichum musae was investigated. VOCs produced by these microorganisms (axenic and co-culture) were investigated using headspace-solid phase micro-extraction (HS-SPME) and gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS). Although no exclusive VOC peaks were observed in the co-culture with ACTB-77, the same experiment involving ACTB-290 yielded five new peaks, including two identified alcohols, suggested as bioreductive products of the corresponding ketones by the fungus. Statistical analysis revealed that co-culture ACTB-77/C. musae has a closer similarity to the fungus than to the actinobacteria, while the co culture ACTB-290/C. musae showed closer similarity to the actinobacteria. These confirmed the more pronounced antifungal activity of the ACTB-290 strain, as observed in the fungus growth inhibition experiments. The antifungal activity of ACTB-290 was associated to its sulfur-containing metabolites, while linalool was suggested as responsible for the ACTB-77 activity.

RESUMO A cultura do amendoim em razão dos aspectos microbiológicos e nutricionais torna-se uma cultura de grande importância econômica para agricultura e indústria alimentícia. No entanto, o estresse salino pode causar efeitos negativos na absorção de nutrientes e no crescimento de plantas. Objetivou-se avaliar o crescimento e os teores foliares de nutrientes de plantas de amendoim submetidas a irrigação com água salina e formas de adubação organomineral. O experimento foi conduzido em casa de vegetação, em delineamento inteiramente casualizado, no esquema fatorial 5 × 2, referente a cinco formas de adubação (F1 = 100% mineral, F2 = 100% biofertilizante bovino, F3 = 100% cinza vegetal, F4 = 50% mineral + 50% biofertilizante bovino e F5 = 50% mineral + 50% cinza vegetal) e dois valores de condutividade elétrica da água de irrigação (1,0 e 5,0 dS m-1), com cinco repetições. O estresse salino inibiu a altura da planta e o número de folhas, mas aumentou o diâmetro médio do caule com utilização de 100% de biofertilizante. As adubações com fertilizante 100% mineral, 100% biofertilizante bovino e 100% cinza vegetal mitigaram o estresse salino e aumentaram o teor de N e Ca foliar. O teor de K foi reduzido em plantas fertilizadas com 100% biofertilizante bovino e 100% cinza vegetal e de Mg em 100% biofertilizante bovino e 50% de fertilizante mineral + 50% biofertilizante bovino, quando exposto a maior salinidade da água de irrigação.

ABSTRACT The peanut crop, owing to its microbiological and nutritional aspects, is of great economic importance for agriculture and the food industry. However, salt stress can negatively affect nutrient uptake and plant growth. The objective of this study was to evaluate the growth and foliar nutrient concentrations of peanut plants subjected to irrigation with saline water and different forms of organomineral fertilization. The experiment was conducted in a greenhouse in a completely randomized design (5 × 2 factorial scheme) with five forms of fertilization (F1 = 100% mineral; F2 = 100% bovine biofertilizer; F3 = 100% vegetal ash; F4 = 50% mineral + 50% bovine biofertilizer; and F5 = 50% mineral + 50% vegetal ash), two levels of electrical conductivity of the irrigation water (ECw) (1.0 and 5.0 dS m-1), and five replicates. Salt stress inhibited plant growth and the number of leaves, but increased the average stem diameter with the use of 100% bovine biofertilizer and higher salinity water. When ECw of 5.0 dS m-1 was used along with the bovine biofertilizer (100%), the P concentration in plants increased. The K concentration was reduced in plants fertilized with bovine biofertilizer (100%) and vegetal ash (100%), while Mg concertation was reduced in plants fertilized with bovine biofertilizer (100%) or mineral fertilizer (50%) + bovine biofertilizer (50%) with irrigation water of 5.0 dS m-1.

Abstract Background Eragrostis plana is the main invasive plant in the Pampa Biome of southern Brazil. This plant is highly competitive, tolerant to abiotic stresses, and very difficult to manage. Plants exposed to abiotic stresses and herbicides develop mechanisms that help alleviate or reduce damage caused by stressors and transmit this ability to the progenies. Objective The study’s objectives were to ascertain whether acclimatization to stress due to drought and sub-lethal doses of glyphosate may decrease plant sensitivity to glyphosate and investigate the possible memory mechanisms involved in this process. Methods A population of E. plana was submitted to drought, glyphosate, or a combination of drought plus glyphosate for two generations. The progenies were analyzed for sensitivity to the herbicide glyphosate and for biochemical, metabolites, and molecular responses. Results When testing sensitivity to glyphosate in the G 2 generations, the DRYxGLY (plants stressed with drought plus glyphosate) was the least sensitive (ED50 443.0 g a.e. ha-1), while CHK (without stresses) was the most sensitive (ED50 278.0 g a.e. ha-1). Evaluating the effects of glyphosate, the CHK population showed a greater accumulation of oxidative damage and shikimic acid. While DRYxGLY had greater antioxidant activity and higher expressions of the EPSPS and ABC-carrier MRP10 genes. Conclusions Recurrent selection with drought stress and sub-lethal rate of glyphosate (DRYxGLY) showed reduced sensitivity to glyphosate in the second generation ( G 2 ). The conjunction of factors, including the upregulation of EPSPS and the ABC MRP10 transporter, antioxidant enzymes seem to decrease the sensitivity of the DRYxGLY population to glyphosate.
