ABSTRACT The present study aimed to investigate the communication/training strategies and technological tools used by fitness coaches from Brazilian football teams during home-based training according to age categories (professional and youth), competitive level (1st, 2nd and 3rd/4th divisions) and sex (male and female). An online questionnaire was applied to collect data. Eighty-two fitness coaches from sixty-seven male and female football teams (professional and youth teams) answered the questionnaire. Message apps were the main communication route between fitness coaches and players during home-based training. Online spreadsheets were frequently used to control the training. Regarding equipment provided to players for training, 70.7% of male professional players used some equipment. In contrast, most female professional and youth players (both sexes) did not receive any equipment, respectively (p< 0.01). Male players who compete in the 1st and 2nd divisions received more equipment for training than those who compete in the 3rd and 4th divisions (p< 0.01). The main physical fitness variables trained by all players during home-based training were muscle strength, strength-endurance, and aerobic capacity. Training load and training response were applied through series/repetitions/time and effort perception scales, respectively. In conclusion, the financial differences between professional and youth teams and between males and females and competitive levels can induce different home-based training conditions in Brazilian football teams during lockdown-like situations, especially related to equipment available for training targeted physical qualities. Thus, players should be monitored closely during lockdown-like situations and provided appropriate support to facilitate their training.

ABSTRACT The position of the technical director was introduced into Portuguese law in 2012, but little research has been produced to understand how it has developed its action since. This study analysed the perceptions of the physical exercise technicians (TEF) regarding i) the importance of the functions of technical directors (as defined in the law) and ii) the way technical directors fulfil and develop their roles, contrasting the results by market segment. A descriptive and frequency analysis was made of a sample of 194 exercise professionals, with a mean age of 34.46 years (SD= 8.78) and a mean years of experience of 9.04 years (SD= 6.84), who voluntarily participated in this study. The present work showed that the TEF value the role attributed to the technical director expressed in the law. The regularity of the technical director's support was found to be quite heterogeneous, with almost 50% of the respondents classifying it as non-existent or not very regular. It was also found that around 45% of the TEF considered the performance of the technical directors to be very weak or weak. From the analysis by market segment, the low cost generally presented the worst percentage results, while the premium segment presented the best results.

Abstract Introduction. The multifactorial etiology of gastroenteritis emphasizes the need for different laboratory methods to identify or exclude infectious agents and evaluate the severity of diarrheal disease. Objective. To diagnose the infectious etiology in diarrheic children and to evaluate some fecal markers associated with intestinal integrity. Materials and methods. The study group comprised 45 children with diarrheal disease, tested for enteropathogens and malabsorption markers, and 76 children whose feces were used for fat evaluation by the traditional and acid steatocrit tests. Results. We observed acute diarrhea in 80% of the children and persistent diarrhea in 20%. Of the diarrheic individuals analyzed, 40% were positive for enteropathogens, with rotavirus (13.3%) and Giardia duodenalis (11.1%) the most frequently diagnosed. Among the infected patients, occult blood was more evident in those carrying pathogenic bacteria (40%) and enteroviruses (40%), while steatorrhea was observed in infections by the protozoa G. duodenalis (35.7%). Children with diarrhea excreted significantly more lipids in feces than non-diarrheic children, as determined by the traditional (p<0.0003) and acid steatocrit (p<0.0001) methods. Moreover, the acid steatocrit method detected 16.7% more fecal fat than the traditional method. Conclusions. Childhood diarrhea can lead to increasingly severe nutrient deficiencies. Steatorrhea is the hallmark of malabsorption, and a stool test, such as the acid steatocrit, can be routinely used as a laboratory tool for the semi-quantitative evaluation of fat malabsorption in diarrheic children.

ABSTRACT Bulk density (BD) is a soil physical property used as a soil quality indicator and variations in this measurement influence soil water content and carbon stock estimates. This study aims to compile a database of samples of bulk density, textural fractions, and organic carbon values, as well as evaluate the accuracy of published pedotransfer functions (PTF) that predict bulk density, and propose a hierarchical PTF to predict the bulk density of Brazilian Soils. The performance of eleven PTFs and the newly proposed PTFs were evaluated and compared using the root mean square error (RMSE) and coefficient of determination (R2) based on a testing soil database collected from the literature. We noticed a slight improvement in accuracy when organic carbon and coarse and fine sand fractions were included as predictors alongside silt and clay. The best results with existing PTFs were obtained by PTF-A in Tomasella and Hodnett (1998) (RMSE = 0.20 g cm–3) and PTF-F in Benites et al. (2007) (RMSE = 0.17 g cm–3). Our proposed PTFs use textural fractions and organic carbon as predictors in a hierarchical form. The proposed PTF-4, which uses fine sand, coarse sand, clay, and organic carbon, presented the lowest value for RMSE (0.14 g cm–3) for BD prediction. ABSTRACT Noroviruses are highly infectious, genetically diverse viruses. Global outbreaks occur frequently, making molecular surveillance important for infection monitoring. This cross-sectional descriptive study aimed to monitor cases of norovirus gastroenteritis in the Brazilian Amazon. Fecal samples were tested by immunoenzymatic assay, RT-PCR and genetic sequencing for the ORF1/ORF2 and protease regions. Bayesian inference with a molecular clock was employed to construct the phylogeny. The norovirus prevalence was 25.8%, with a higher positivity rate among children aged 0-24 months. Genogroup GII accounted for 98.1% of the sequenced samples, while GI accounted for 1.9% of them. The GII.P16/GII.4 genotype was the most prevalent, with an evolution rate of 2.87x10−3 and TMRCA estimated in 2012. This study demonstrates that norovirus is a primary causative agent of gastroenteritis and provides data on viral genetic diversity that may facilitate infection surveillance and vaccine development. infectious viruses frequently monitoring crosssectional cross sectional Amazon assay RTPCR RT PCR ORF1ORF2 ORFORF ORF1 ORF2 ORF ORF1/ORF regions phylogeny 258 25 8 25.8% 024 0 24 0-2 months 981 98 1 98.1 19 9 1.9 them GIIP16GII4 GIIPGII P16 4 P GII.P16/GII. prevalent 287x103 x 2 87x10 3 2.87x10− 2012 development ORF1ORF 25.8 02 0- 98. 1. Abstract: Seed treatments with chemical phytosanitary products can compromise mobilization of seed reserves for the seedlings under water deficit conditions. The aim of this study was to evaluate the physiological quality, the initial seedling development, and the mobilization of reserves in soybean seeds treated with phytosanitary products under water deficit. The trial was set up in a completely randomized design in a 4 × 4 factorial arrangement: chemical treatments (control, Thiamethoxam, Fludioxonil + Metalaxyl-M, and Fipronil + Pyraclostrobin + Tiophanate-methyl) × osmotic potentials (0, -0.1, -0.2, and -0.3 MPa). We analyzed the following variables: germination; hypocotyl length, root length, and total seedling length; seedling length vigor index; cotyledon dry matter weight; seedling dry matter yield; seed reserve reduction; relative dry matter yield; seed reserve reduction rate; and conversion efficiency of seed reserves into seedling dry matter. Seed quality and seedling development decline under water deficit conditions. The treatment with Fipronil + Pyraclostrobin + Thiophanate-methyl results in lower phytotoxicity. The estimated cotyledon dry matter (CDM) weight is an indicator of phytotoxicity and water deficit. Mobilization of reserves is compromised in seeds treated with insecticides, reducing the capacity of conversion of reserves into dry matter. There is an inversely proportional relationship between the reduction in conversion and the efficiency of conversion of reserves of treated soybean seeds under water deficit. ABSTRACT Objective: To find evidence on the use of N-acetyl-cysteine (NAC) in the perioperative period of liver transplantation, since NAC, as it is the acetylated precursor of L-cysteine and reduced glutathione, contributes to the hepatic supply of glutathione, helping the liver to recover from ischemia and reperfusion injury. Methodology: This is a scoping review of the PubMed, VHL and Web of Science databases. The descriptors “Liver transplantation”, “N-acetyl-cysteine” and “Reperfusion Ischemia” were used, with the Boolean operator “AND”, and articles relevant to the topic were selected. Initially, 60 articles were selected, all published in the last 24 years, in Portuguese and/or English. After analysis, eight articles corresponded to the proposed objective. Results: The groups that received NAC during TxF showed post-reperfusion hypotension, lower intraoperative pH values, higher plasma concentrations of IL-4 and a significant increase in IL-10 levels five minutes before reperfusion. Inhibition of α-glutathione S-transferase (α-GST) was also observed after reperfusion, unlike the control group, which showed a significant increase in this enzyme. Furthermore, sVCAM-1 and sICAM-1 levels were significantly lower in the NAC group 24 hours after reperfusion compared with the placebo group. The maximum AST value during the first 72 postoperative hours was similar in both groups, although the peak ALT was lower in the NAC group than in the placebo group. In grafts that received NAC in the perfusion solution, survival rates at 3 and 12 months were 93% and 90%, respectively, and in the control group were 82% and 70%, respectively. The incidence of postoperative complications was 23% in the NAC group and 51% in the control group. The incidence of EPD was lower for the NAC group, which was 15% versus 32% in the control group. Regarding the administration of NAC during the intraoperative TxF, the one-year patient survival rate was 78.4% in the NAC group compared to 80.9% in the placebo group. Conclusion: Intraoperative administration of NAC during the anhepatic phase was associated with a protective effect against reperfusion injury, however in other studies limitations were observed in protection against liver injury, in biomarkers of oxidative stress, in inflammation and in the functioning of liver enzymes. Abstract Introduction Gender inequality occurs in all spheres of society, which is no different in the medical field. Abstract presentations in congress are the vanguard of scientific knowledge, an integral part of topic discussion, and, ideally, culminate in the publication of these works as complete manuscripts. Objective The objective of this study is to evaluate the role played by women in the presentation of scientific works at the Brazilian Society of Coloproctology congress and in the works published from these presentations. Methods The bibliometric evaluation of the presented abstracts in the editions from 2015 to 2018 of the Brazilian Congress of Coloproctology was used, along with the works later published from these presentations. Gender identification data was extracted from the authors of the abstracts through their names and research for conference on the Lattes and Google Scholar platforms. The collected data was on the number of female participants and their order of authorship of abstracts and publications, evaluating possible changes when publication occurs. Results Atotal of 1,336 abstracts were analyzed, with 91.6% of female authors. When publication occurs, women’s presence dropped to 75.2% and suffered a change of order in the position of authorship to one of lesser relevance in 38.1%. Conclusion Women’s participation occurs in most abstracts. However, this proportion undergoes unfavorable changes when these works are published, either by changing the order of authorship, when women leave main positions and become coauthors, or are removed from the complete manuscript’s publication. society field knowledge discussion ideally manuscripts 201 used platforms publications 1336 1 336 1,33 analyzed 916 91 6 91.6 womens s 752 75 2 75.2 381 38 38.1% Womens Women However coauthors manuscript 20 133 33 1,3 9 91. 7 75. 3 38.1 13 1, 38.

ABSTRACT Introduction: Gastric tonometry is a useful tool for examining regional splanchnic perfusion as it provides an indirect assessment of the state of the liver graft. This is because splanchnic hypoperfusion is a critical parameter in the context of liver transplantation, being associated with the development of problems such as acute liver failure and multiple organ failure. Objective: To analyze the effects of gastrointestinal tonometry in the perioperative period of patients undergoing liver transplantation. Methodology This is an Integrative Review using the PubMed and VHL databases. The following descriptors were used: “Tonometry”, “Splanchnic circulation” and “Liver transplantation” with the Boolean operator “AND”, and articles of relevance to the topic were selected. Initially, 24 articles were selected, all published in the last 20 years, in Portuguese and/or English. After analysis, 6 articles matched the proposed objective. Results: It was observed that the difference between PraCO2 at the end of surgery and in the anepathic phase was greater in patients without liver graft dysfunction. A positive correlation was found between ΔpraCO2 and peak ALT after liver transplantation. In another study, it was found that the relationship between poor graft function was the presence of elevated liver enzymes, worsening synthetic liver function, coagulopathy and encephalopathy. It has also been shown that intramucosal gastric pH can predict early graft function. In a group with liver dysfunction, patients had an intramucosal gastric pH of less than 7.3 in the perioperative period, which remained low until the 24th hour postoperatively, while the group without dysfunction had an intramucosal gastric pH of more than 7.3, except in the anepathic phase when it was below this value. Conclusion: The usefulness of gastrointestinal tonometry to monitor splanchnic circulation and liver graft function during liver transplantation has been described and although support for this statement was found in some studies, this review had limitations due to the small number of articles available, which prevents it from covering a wide range of scientific evidence. ABSTRACT The limited temporal completeness and taxonomic accuracy of species lists, made available in a traditional manner in scientific publications, has always represented a problem. These lists are invariably limited to a few taxonomic groups and do not represent up-to-date knowledge of all species and classifications. In this context, the Brazilian megadiverse fauna is no exception, and the Catálogo Taxonômico da Fauna do Brasil (CTFB) (http://fauna.jbrj.gov.br/), made public in 2015, represents a database on biodiversity anchored on a list of valid and expertly recognized scientific names of animals in Brazil. The CTFB is updated in near real time by a team of more than 800 specialists. By January 1, 2024, the CTFB compiled 133,691 nominal species, with 125,138 that were considered valid. Most of the valid species were arthropods (82.3%, with more than 102,000 species) and chordates (7.69%, with over 11,000 species). These taxa were followed by a cluster composed of Mollusca (3,567 species), Platyhelminthes (2,292 species), Annelida (1,833 species), and Nematoda (1,447 species). All remaining groups had less than 1,000 species reported in Brazil, with Cnidaria (831 species), Porifera (628 species), Rotifera (606 species), and Bryozoa (520 species) representing those with more than 500 species. Analysis of the CTFB database can facilitate and direct efforts towards the discovery of new species in Brazil, but it is also fundamental in providing the best available list of valid nominal species to users, including those in science, health, conservation efforts, and any initiative involving animals. The importance of the CTFB is evidenced by the elevated number of citations in the scientific literature in diverse areas of biology, law, anthropology, education, forensic science, and veterinary science, among others. publications problem uptodate up date classifications context exception (CTFB http//fauna.jbrj.gov.br/, httpfaunajbrjgovbr http //fauna.jbrj.gov.br/ , jbrj gov br (http://fauna.jbrj.gov.br/) 2015 Brazil 80 specialists 1 2024 133691 133 691 133,69 125138 125 138 125,13 82.3%, 823 82 3 (82.3% 102000 102 000 102,00 7.69%, 769 7 69 (7.69% 11000 11 11,00 . 3,567 3567 567 (3,56 2,292 2292 2 292 (2,29 1,833 1833 833 (1,83 1,447 1447 447 (1,44 1000 1,00 831 (83 628 (62 606 (60 520 (52 50 users science health biology law anthropology education others http//fauna.jbrj.gov.br/ faunajbrjgovbr //fauna.jbrj.gov.br (http://fauna.jbrj.gov.br/ 201 8 202 13369 13 133,6 12513 12 125,1 82.3% (82.3 10200 10 00 102,0 7.69% 76 6 (7.69 1100 11,0 3,56 356 56 (3,5 2,29 229 29 (2,2 1,83 183 83 (1,8 1,44 144 44 (1,4 100 1,0 (8 62 (6 60 52 (5 5 http//fauna.jbrj.gov.br (http://fauna.jbrj.gov.br 20 1336 133, 1251 125, 82.3 (82. 1020 0 102, 7.69 (7.6 110 11, 3,5 35 (3, 2,2 22 (2, 1,8 18 (1, 1,4 14 4 ( 82. Abstract Under two detection schemes, this study analyzes one of the most destructive weather systems - the explosive cyclones - in the South Atlantic, from 2010 to 2020. Then, two methods are presented to study these systems: the Observational Method (OBSM) and the Automated Method (AUTM). The first uses visual analysis of the mean sea level pressure (mslp) fields and functions to identify the local minimums using the Grid Analysis and Display (GrADS) software. The second utilizes a function from OpenGrADS called mfhilo. It shows the local minimum in the grid using laplacian, magnitude, and percentile. Two shell algorithms for data manipulation are used for the AUTM: one to trace the cyclones’ trajectories according to a previously defined fixed area and the other to separate them into explosives. The OBSM methodology showed 271 cases averaging 25 yearly and revealed important characteristics regarding the intensities. According to AUTM’s methodology, from the 2705 ordinary cyclone cases identified, 299 are explosives. There is a clear seasonality pattern in the systems’ distribution along South America, similar to OBSM, but more highlighted. In summer, they concentrate at high latitudes, while in winter and spring, they are assembled near southern Brazilian and Uruguayan coasts. schemes Atlantic 201 2020 Then (OBSM AUTM. AUTM . ABSTRACT Objective: Previous studies indicated that face masks reduce the probability of infection by SARS-CoV-2 but did not examine the relationship between SARS-CoV-2 viral load and mask usage. This study analyzed this relationship. Methods: This cross-sectional study evaluated patients admitted to a public Emergency Care Unit in Belo Horizonte, MG, Brazil, between October 2020 and March 2021. Convenience samples were recruited during the study period. Adult patients with COVID-19 symptoms were invited to participate after being examined by a physician according to the Emergency Care Unit routine. This study included 441 adults with mild symptoms diagnosed with COVID-19 via RT-PCR, who were tested until the 14th day after symptom onset. Participants were interviewed about mask usage, oropharyngeal swabs were collected, and the SARS-CoV-2 viral load was measured using RT-PCR. The difference between the SARS-CoV-2 viral load in the groups of individuals who regularly used and did not use masks was subjected to a hypothesis test. Results: Of the patients who had swabs collected 1-5 days after symptom onset, 64.9% of those not using masks regularly and 45.5% of those using masks regularly presented a high SARS-CoV-2 viral load. This difference was statistically significant (p=0.0073). Considering only the patients who had swabs collected 4-8 days after symptom onset, 44.1% of those not using masks regularly and 30.8% of those using masks regularly presented a high SARS-CoV-2 viral load; this difference was statistically significant (p=0.0364). Conclusion: When people who regularly wear a face mask contract COVID-19, they have a significantly lower probability of having a high viral load of SARS-CoV-2 compared to those who do not regularly wear masks. Abstract Introduction Scientific studies in Brazil grew around 10.7% compared to previous years. However, the level of quality of evidence has been decreasing. The aim in our study is to examine the meeting abstracts of the Brazilian congress of coloproctology and analyze the level of evidence in trends and variables. Methods A descriptive bibliometric study, working with secondary data to review scientific abstracts in the annals of the coloproctology congress from 2015 to 2019. Results A total of 1756 abstracts of the Brazilian Congress of Coloproctology were analyzed for 5 years (2015-2019). There was a higher trend of abstracts presented with lower levels of evidence (level of evidence 5: 52.3% and 3: 30%), being the majority composed of case reports (49.4%) and retrospective studies (30.4%). The last two years analyzed (2018: 55.2% and 2019: 59.3%) had a predominance above average of case reports. From 2017 to 2019 there was a significant decrease in the number of level 2 evidence studies (18.10%,11.80% and 5.50%), while the number of studies with level 5 evidence showed an increase (45.60%, 56.60% and 61.40%). Statistical analysis occurred in only 17%, with an important decrease for the last two years (2018: 13.6%; 2019: 12.1%). Conclusions Although the data of this study is from the Brazilian coloproctology point of view, they are important for the global scientific community, as they allow a quantitative evaluation of the relative contribution from the level of evidence of Brazilian coloproctology researchers to the scientific scenario. 107 10 7 10.7 However decreasing variables 201 175 20152019. 20152019 .
Abstract Fitness in Portugal results from a set of historical intersections marked by various influences and personalities. To a large extent, knowledge of this path is essential to understanding the current reality and some of the problems the area faces. The present opinion intends to situate and summarise the leading influences of national and international events and some time frames that led to the development of the intervention area commonly called fitness. For this purpose, the work is structured in three parts: i) the beginnings of fitness, where some of the international influences that were at the origin of this area will be presented; ii) some of the main influences and factors that allowed the growth of fitness in Portugal; and iii) the effect of the historical trajectory of fitness in the current context and future considerations about the area. Given the scarcity of records on the subject, the present work, as an opinion article, will also be a self-report of the authors, who, having experienced different moments of this history, intend to leave a contribution to this record and for future reflections of its impact on the development of the area, professionals, and respective practices.
