Resumo Distantes temporalmente da declaração da emergência em saúde pública de importância internacional (ESPII) e emergência em saúde pública de importância nacional (ESPIN) provocada pela epidemia de zika, no ano de 2015, enunciamos a herança da emergência humanitária. Com base em uma pesquisa qualitativa, por meio de grupos focais realizados com profissionais de saúde e familiares das crianças afetadas epidemia de zika em Natal e Feira de Santana, buscamos discutir esse fenômeno de saúde pública pelas lentes da Antropologia do Estado. Concluímos que o não reconhecimento do Estado como uma instância encarnada no cotidiano das práticas por parte dos seus agentes locais leva à reprodução de práticas discriminatórias esvaziadas de sentido político e do reconhecimento de moralidades que permeiam as ausências nas ações de promoção de saúde e estratégias de reconhecimento e busca por estratégias para a garantia do direito à saúde.

Abstract Temporarily distant from the declaration of the Public Health Emergency of International Importance (ESPII) and Public Health Emergency of National Importance (ESPIN) caused by the Zika epidemic, in 2015, we enunciate the legacy of the humanitarian emergency. Based on qualitative research, through focus groups with health professionals and families of children affected by the Zika epidemic in Natal and Feira de Santana, we seek to discuss this public health phenomenon through the lens of State Anthropology. We conclude that the non-recognition of the State as an instance embodied in the daily practices of its local agents leads to the reproduction of discriminatory practices emptied of political sense and the recognition of moralities that permeate the absences in health promotion actions and recognition strategies, and search for methods to guarantee the right to health.

Resumo O artigo trata das impressões compartilhadas de pesquisadores e sua experiência no trabalho de campo no Nordeste do Brasil, no âmbito do projeto Promoção da saúde no contexto da epidemia de zika: atores e cenários nos processos de tomada de decisão (FIOCRUZ/ZIKAlliance). Aqui procuramos compartilhar impressões de campo sobre uma pesquisa acerca da epidemia de Zika vírus, em dois municípios situados em diferentes localidades do Nordeste. Evidenciamos a importância do caderno de campo na pesquisa qualitativa e tecemos reflexões acerca dos resultados das entrevistas realizadas com mulheres em idade reprodutiva, gestantes, profissionais de saúde, mães e pais de crianças acometidas por microcefalia e trabalhadores autônomos. A partir dos depoimentos, foi possível observar aproximações, identificações e estranhamentos dos sujeitos de pesquisa com os pesquisadores, constituindo importante termômetro para nossa percepção do campo e das possibilidades de produção de conhecimento científico sobre a epidemia do Zika no Nordeste do Brasil.

From the testimonies, it was possible to observe similarities, identifications, and estrangements between the research subjects and the researchers, constituting a vital thermometer for our perception of the field and the possibilities of producing scientific knowledge about the Zika epidemic in Northeastern Brazil.

ABSTRACT The use of corn hybrids adapted to the soil and climate conditions of the cultivation region under adequate optimum plant density is a determining factor for the maximization of grain yield. In this sense, the objective was to evaluate the productivity of corn hybrids under two sowing densities during the 2020/21 crop season in the medium-high Uruguay region of the state of Rio Grande do Sul. The corn hybrids AS1555 PRO3, B2401 PWU, B2418 VYHR, B2612 PWU, BG7061 YHR, DKB235 PRO3, NS45 VIP3, NS73 VIP3, NS80 VIP3, P2501, P3016 VYHR, P3565 PWU and 30F53 VYHR were submitted to densities of 66,667 and 88,889 plants ha-1, in a randomized block design with ten replications. Corn hybrids showed superior grain yield when subjected to the density of 88,889 plants ha-1 in the medium-high Uruguay region of Rio Grande do Sul, surpassing in most cases the state and national average yield of harvest 2020/21. Most of the corn hybrids used present potential for cultivation at higher sowing density than their respective recommendations. Resumo Objetivo Validar o conteúdo e a aparência de um protocolo gráfico para avaliação do cuidado seguro de enfermagem a pacientes em hemodiálise. Método Estudo metodológico com abordagem quantitativa, organizado em três procedimentos: teóricos, a partir de uma scoping review; empíricos, na qual ocorreu processo de construção do protocolo gráfico e checklist para avaliação do cuidado seguro; por fim, os analíticos, para a validação propriamente dita com uso da técnica Delphi e participação de nove juízes especialistas em duas rodadas para o alcance da concordância. Resultados Elaboraram-se o checklist e o protocolo gráfico. Quanto à validade de conteúdo, em Delphi I, três critérios obtiveram Coeficiente de Validade de Conteúdo =0,77 no checklist. No que corresponde ao Delphi II, foram alcançados 80% em todos os itens referentes ao Coeficiente de Validade de Conteúdo, e todos os índices ficaram acima de 0,80. A validação de aparência ocorreu utilizando critérios de Suitability Assessment of Materials no Delphi I. Foi possível atingir um Coeficiente de Validade de Conteúdo total maior que 0,80 em todos, enquanto que, no Delphi II, os protocolos alcançaram concordância maior que 80% e Coeficiente de Validade de Conteúdo maior que 0,88, já que o checklist apresentou maior Coeficiente de Validade de Conteúdo com 0,91. Abstract Objective To validate the content and appearance of a graphic protocol for evaluating safe nursing care for hemodialysis patients. Methods Methodological study with a quantitative approach, organized into three procedures: theoretical from a Scoping Review; empirical in which the process of constructing the graphic protocol and checklist for the evaluation of safe care took place; finally, the analytics for the validation itself using the Delphi technique and the participation of nine expert judges in two rounds to reach agreement. Results The checklist and the graphic protocol were elaborated. As for content validity in Delphi I, three criteria obtained Content Validity Coefficient =0.77 in the checklist. In what corresponds to Delphi II, 80% was achieved in all items regarding the Content Validity Coefficient, all indices were above 0.80. RESUMO: Este estudo teve como objetivo preparar e caracterizar farinha de resíduos de tilápia do Nilo (Oreochromis niloticus). O delineamento experimental consistiu em três tratamentos, farinha de carcaça, farinha de carne mecanicamente separada - CMS e farinha de cabeça, e cinco replicatas por tratamento. Foram realizadas análises de rendimento, qualidade microbiológica, pH, atividade de água, composição centesimal, valor energético, composição mineral, perfil de ácidos graxos, composição de aminoácidos, cor, frações granulométricas e o diâmetro médio geométrico das partículas (DMG). Os dados foram submetidos à ANOVA e as médias comparadas pelo teste de Tukey (P < 0,05). As farinhas de carcaça, de carne mecanicamente separada e de cabeça apresentaram teor de proteína de 56,45%, 78,60% e 50,33%, respectivamente, teor de lipídios de 7,16%, 13,15% e 4,58%, respectivamente, e teor de cinzas de 32,61%. 4,26% e 38,41%, respectivamente. O rendimento médio das farinhas de resíduos de peixe foi de 13%. Os ácidos oleico, palmítico e linoleico foram os principais ácidos graxos encontrados nas três farinhas de resíduos de peixe, e o ácido glutâmico, leucina, lisina e glicina foram os principais aminoácidos detectados nas farinhas. A análise de cor mostrou que a luminosidade (L*) variou de 55,32 a 77,19, o vermelho (a*) variou de 4,44 a 4,88 e o amarelo (b*) variou de 4,13 a 9,51. O GMD variou de 0,37 a 0,99 mm. Os resultados indicam que as farinhas de resíduos de tilápia do Nilo apresentam alto valor nutricional e pH, atividade de água e qualidade microbiológica adequados para uso na alimentação humana. ABSTRACT: This study aimed to prepare and characterize Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) waste meal. The experimental design consisted of three treatments (carcass meal, mechanically separated meat meal - MSM, and head meal) and five replications of each treatment. Yield, microbiological quality, pH, water activity, proximate composition, energy value, mineral composition, fatty acid profile, amino acid composition, color, and particle size fractions and the geometric mean particle diameter (GMD) analyses were performed. Data were subjected to ANOVA, and means were compared by Tukey’s test at P < 0.05. Carcass, mechanically separated meat, and head meals had a protein content of 56.45%, 78.60%, and 50.33%, respectively, a lipid content of 7.16%, 13.15%, and 4.58%, respectively, and an ash content of 32.61%, 4.26%, and 38.41%, respectively. The mean yield of fish waste meals was 13%. Oleic, palmitic, and linoleic acids were the major fatty acids in the three fish waste meals, and glutamic acid, leucine, lysine, and glycine were the major amino acids. Color analysis showed that lightness (L*) ranged from 55.32 to 77.19, redness (a*) from 4.44 to 4.88, and yellowness (b*) from 4.13 to 9.51. The GMD ranged from 0.37 to 0.99 mm. The results indicate that Nile tilapia waste meals have high nutritional value and adequate pH, water activity, and microbiological quality for use in human nutrition. ABSTRACT Considering the expressive number of commercial soybean cultivars available for cultivation in Brazil and the constant search for improvements in the production system, the objective was to evaluate the productive components and grain yield and to estimate the correlation between them in soybean cultivars sown in the northwest region of Rio Grande do Sul, during the 2019/20 harvest. Sixteen commercial soybean cultivars were sown under their respective plant density recommendations, in a randomized block design with three replications. At the end of the cultivation cycle, the following variables were evaluated: plant height; height of insertion of the first pod; number of nodes; number of pods with one, two, three and four grains; pods per plant; grains per plant; weight of thousand grains, and; grain yield. The cultivars BMX ZEUS IPRO, NS 5445 IPRO and NS 5700 IPRO presented the highest grain yields, mainly due to the high relationship between the number of pods and grains per plant and the weight of a thousand grains. ABSTRACT Currently in Brazil, large grain cultivation projects on Plinthosols are a reality, however, there is little or no knowledge of the real mechanism of formation of the plinthite feature, in addition to what is reported in the literature as being a product of oxidation-reduction processes of iron element. This study evaluates iron redoximorphic features and investigates their chemical and mineralogical composition in two profiles of Plinthosols from the Araguaia River plain (P1 and P2). The study strengthens the understanding of the pedogenetic processes involved in the formation of mottles and plinthite. In this sense, it assesses whether the formation mechanisms corroborate the literature. Soil features were sampled in the upper right and left position at the initial plinthic horizon, upper right and left position at the main plinthic horizon, and lower right position at the base horizon of the plinthite zone in the profile. Separated samples comprising the soil matrix, mottles, and plinthite under natural moisture conditions were ground into powder form for chemical determinations by X-ray fluorescence (XRF), sulfuric acid attack (H2SO4), sodium dithionite-citrate-bicarbonate (DCB), and ammonium acid oxalate; and mineralogical determinations by X-ray diffraction. Iron contents in all determined forms were always higher in the plinthite feature, intermediate in the mottle feature, and lower in the soil matrix feature. Most of the Fe in all redoximorphic features is included in the structure of primary minerals and their derivatives (vermiculite, illite, and VHEs). Only part of the iron present (about 35.40 % in P1 and 41.98 % in P2) is detected in the form of oxides such as goethite and hematite, which could be formed in redox processes. The mottle and plinthite features under study are not the product of the classic process of segregation, mobilization, and accumulation of iron as a consequence of redox processes. These features were formed or emerged as a result of a relatively slow and constant weathering process of their source material, which is gradually decomposed in an aqueous medium, releasing most of its components. These components include iron and more mobile elements such as bases and silicon, which leave the system through drainage water, and of which a small part may eventually recombine to form new less complex minerals such as kaolinite and oxides. ABSTRACT Purpose: To analyze clinical and endoscopic aspects of dyspeptic patients submitted to upper endoscopy in a reference center in the interior of Maranhão, Brazil. Methods: Observational, descriptive, and analytical research through interviews and endoscopic reports of 80 patients with dyspeptic complaints submitted to upper endoscopy. Results: Among the respondents, 66.25% were women, most were aged ≥ 40 years old and had epigastric pain as their main symptom, and 29.75% had no appropriate indication to perform upper endoscopy. Mild enanthematous gastritis of the antrum was the most frequent finding, and 92.5% had non-significant findings. Rapid urease test was positive in 25%. The following findings showed a statistically significant correlation (p < 0.05): age < 40 years old, female gender, and gastric lesion with positive urease test; smoking with gastric lesion and age less than 40 years old with normal examination. Patients with significant findings had appropriate indications for upper endoscopy. Conclusions: The correct indication of upper endoscopy is essential for satisfactory endoscopic yields and accurate diagnosis. ABSTRACT Objective: Abdominal ultrasonography is widely used to evaluate suspected cases of appendicitis. Objective descriptions of the direct and indirect signs of appendicitis result in varied assessments of its likelihood. This study introduces the Appendix Imaging Reporting and Data System (APENDIC-RADS) to standardize the reporting of appendix ultrasound findings. Methods: This single-center retrospective study included consecutive patients of all ages who underwent abdominal ultrasonography for the investigation of acute appendicitis. The primary outcome was histopathological confirmation of acute appendicitis post-surgery. The imaging findings were classified into five categories: APENDIC-RADS 0, where the appendix cannot be visualized; APENDIC-RADS 1, indicating a normal appendix; APENDIC-RADS 2, describing an appendix that is likely normal but only partially visualized; APENDIC-RADS 3, appendicitis cannot be ruled out due to uncertain features and APENDIC-RADS 4, acute appendicitis. Results: A total of 747 patients were assessed for suspected acute appendicitis using ultrasonography. Of the diagnosed patients, 52% were male, primarily exhibiting symptoms such as nausea and/or vomiting (60%), right iliac fossa pain (54%), and sudden decompression in the right iliac fossa (24%). Stratification into APENDIC-RADS categories revealed a significant variation in the incidence of acute appendicitis, with incidence rates of 4.5% for category 0 and 0.7%, 2.2%, 11.5%, and 93.5% for categories 1 to 4, respectively (p<0.001). The APENDIC-RADS showed excellent discriminative ability, evidenced by an area under the receiver operating characteristic curve of 0.950 (95%CI=0.899-1). Conclusion: APENDIC-RADS categorization demonstrated excellent performance in standardizing the ultrasound-determined probability of acute appendicitis. Resumo A grama-batatais (Paspalum notatum Flüggé), nativa do Brasil, já foi muito utilizada no paisagismo e atualmente é encontrada com maior frequência nas margens de rodovias e áreas extensas no meio urbano, de plantio antigo, como praças, parques, áreas públicas e industriais, entre outras. O Brasil vem desenvolvendo pesquisas de seleção de variedades dessa grama sendo importante o conhecimento sobre a germinação de sementes neste processo e, também, na multiplicação comercial, visando a formação de gramados de qualidade, de forma rápida e sustentável. Assim, o objetivo desta pesquisa foi avaliar fatores que interferem na germinação de sementes de grama-batatais como temperatura, estresse salino, forma de semeadura e disponibilidade de água no substrato. Foram estudadas cinco condições de temperatura (ambiente, 25 °C, 30 °C, 20-30 °C e 25-35 °C); no estudo do estresse salino, foram cinco tratamentos sendo, ausência e quatro concentrações de NaCl (25, 50, 75 e 100 mM). Estudou-se ainda, duas formas de semeadura (sobre e entre areia), combinadas com quatro teores de água (25%, 50%, 75% e 100%) da capacidade de retenção de água em areia. Avaliou-se a porcentagem de germinação e o Índice de Velocidade de Germinação (IVG) das sementes. Abstract Bahiagrass (Paspalum notatum Flüggé), native to Brazil, was once widely used in landscaping and is currently more commonly found along roadsides and in large urban areas with old plantings, such as squares, parks, public and industrial areas, among others. Brazil has been developing research into the selection of varieties of this grass, and it is important to know about seed germination in this process and also in commercial multiplication, aiming to form high-quality lawns, quickly and sustainably. Thus, the objective of this research was to evaluate factors that affect the germination of bahiagrass seeds, such as temperature, saline stress, sowing method and water availability in the substrate. Five temperature conditions were studied (room temperature, 25 °C, 30 °C, 20-30 °C, and 25-35 °C); in the salt stress study, five treatments were applied, including a control (absence) and four NaCl concentrations (25, 50, 75, and 100 mM). Two forms of sowing (on and between sand) were also studied, combined with four water contents (25%, 50%, 75%, and 100%) of the water retention capacity in sand. ABSTRACT Hepatic injuries in COVID-19 are not yet fully understood and indirect pathways (without viral replication in the liver) have been associated with the activation of vascular mechanisms of liver injury in humans infected with SARS-CoV-2. Golden Syrian hamsters are an effective model for experimental reproduction of moderate and self-limiting lung disease during SARS-CoV-2 infection. As observed in humans, this experimental model reproduces lesions of bronchointerstitial pneumonia and pulmonary vascular lesions, including endotheliitis (attachment of lymphoid cells to the luminal surface of endothelium). Extrapulmonary vascular lesions are well documented in COVID-19, but such extrapulmonary vascular lesions have not yet been described in the Golden Syrian hamster model of SARS-CoV-2 infection. The study aimed to evaluate microscopic liver lesions in Golden Syrian hamsters experimentally infected with SARS-CoV-2. In total, 38 conventional Golden Syrian hamsters, divided into infected group (n=24) and mock-infected group (n=14), were euthanized at 2-, 3-, 4-, 5-, 7-, 14-, and 15-days post infection with SARS-CoV-2. Liver fragments were evaluated by histopathology and immunohistochemical detection of SARS-CoV-2 Spike S2 antigens. The frequencies of portal vein endotheliitis, lobular activity, hepatocellular degeneration, and lobular vascular changes were higher among SARS-CoV-2-infected animals. Spike S2 antigen was not detected in liver. The main results indicate that SARS-CoV-2 infection exacerbated vascular and inflammatory lesions in the liver of hamsters with pre-existing hepatitis of unknown origin. A potential application of this animal model in studies of the pathogenesis and evolution of liver lesions associated with SARS-CoV-2 infection still needs further evaluation. ABSTRACT. Monosporascus cannonballus Pollack & Uecker and Macrophomina phaseolina Tassi (Goid) are phytopathogenic fungi responsible for causing "root rot and vine decline" in melon (Cucumis melo L.). Currently, cultural management practices are predominantly employed to control these pathogens, as the use of pesticides not only has detrimental environmental impacts but has also proven ineffective against them. These fungi have already undergone molecular characterization, and their genomes are now available, enabling the targeted search for protein targets. Therefore, this study aimed to identify novel target proteins that can serve as a foundation for the development of fungicides for effectively managing these pathogens. The genomes of M. cannonballus (assembly ASM415492v1) and M. phaseolina (assembly ASM2087553v1) were subjected to comprehensive analysis, filtration, and comparison. The proteomes of both fungi were clustered based on functional criteria, including putative and hypothetical functions, cell localization, and function-structure relationships. The selection process for homologs in the fungal genomes included a structural search. In the case of M. cannonballus, a total of 17,518 proteins were re-annotated, and among them, 13 candidate targets were identified. As for M. phaseolina, 30,226 initial proteins were analyzed, leading to the identification of 10 potential target proteins. This study thus provides new insights into the molecular functions of these potential targets, with the further validation of inhibitors through experimental methods holding promise for expanding our knowledge in this area.
