Resumo Introdução: As situações de violência no âmbito conjugal resultam numa diversidade de consequências e danos físicos, psicológicos, relacionais e nos casos mais graves, poderão conduzir à incapacitação, temporária ou permanente, da vítima ou, mesmo, à sua morte. A Lei Maria da Penha, dispõe a respeito da criação de mecanismos para coibir a violência doméstica e familiar contra mulher; trata também da Convenção sobre a Eliminação de Todas as Formas de Discriminação contra as Mulheres e da Convenção Interamericana para Prevenir, Punir e Erradicar a Violência contra a Mulher. Dispõe ainda a respeito da criação dos Juizados de Violência Doméstica e Familiar contra Mulher e promove alteração no Código Penal e na lei de Execução Penal a respeito da punição da violência contra a mulher. Objetivo: Identificar e compreender os fatores que influenciam a tomada de decisão da vítima em denunciar atos de violência doméstica. Especificamente pretende-se verificar o conhecimento dos recursos disponíveis à vítima de violência doméstica, bem como analisar se tais recursos influenciam na decisão da vítima denunciar o agressor. Método: Foi feita uma pesquisa qualitativa básica, com a participação de 12 mulheres que se identificaram como vítimas de violência doméstica. Foi utilizada como técnica de colheita a entrevista semiestruturada e para o tratamento dos dados, foi feita análise categorial. Resultados: Das entrevistadas, quatro mulheres não denunciaram o agressor, uma destas saiu de casa e preferiu não denunciar. As que denunciaram, o fizeram por diferentes motivos, como traição, agressão na presença de filhos, medo de perder os filhos, entre outros. Conclusões. Os fatores apontados estão relacionados com a dependência financeira e emocional e por descrédito na justiça.

Abstract Introduction: Situations of domestic violence result in a variety of consequences and physical, psychological and relational damage and, in the most serious cases, may lead to temporary or permanent incapacitation of the victim or even death. The Maria da Penha Law provides for the creation of mechanisms to curb domestic and family violence against women; it also deals with the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women and the Inter-American Convention to Prevent, Punish and Eradicate Violence against Women. It also provides for the creation of Courts for Domestic and Family Violence against Women and promotes changes to the Penal Code and the Criminal Execution law regarding the punishment of violence against women. Objective: Identify and understand the factors that influence the victim's decision-making in reporting acts of domestic violence. Specifically, the aim is to verify knowledge of the resources available to victims of domestic violence, as well as to analyze whether such resources influence the victim's decision to report the aggressor. Method: Basic qualitative research was carried out, with the participation of 12 women who identified themselves as victims of domestic violence. A semi-structured interview was used as a collection technique and categorical analysis was carried out to process the data. Results: Of those interviewed, four women did not report the aggressor, one of these left homes and preferred not to report it. Those who reported it did so for different reasons, such as betrayal, aggression in the presence of children, fear of losing their children, among others. Conclusions. The factors highlighted are related to financial and emotional dependence and discredit in justice.

ABSTRACT Tamarind (Tamarindus indica L.) is a species with promising potential for commercial production; therefore, studies involving practices of conducting culture in the initial stage are essential. The present study aimed to evaluate different shading levels and substrate compositions in the seedling production of tamarind. The experimental design was completely randomized in a 4×4 factorial scheme, four levels of shading (0%, 18%, 30%, and 50%) and four substrates (pine bark-based substrate pure and mixed with 50% vermiculite, and sphagnum peat-based substrate pure and mixed with 50% vermiculite), with four replicates of four seedlings. Growth and biometric relationships were evaluated at 40 and 98 d after transplantation (DAT). The results reported that seedlings formed on the sphagnum peat-based substrate on pure or associated with vermiculite at 98 DAT had a height greater than 35 cm and a total 8.5 g DM. In contrast, seedlings produced in pine bark-based substrate did not reach 20 cm in height and had less than 3 g total DM. The condition of 30% and 50% shading promoted greater growth in height, reaching an average height greater than 40 cm, while in the full sun environment, seedlings showed an average of less than 35 cm; however, for the other variables, full sun environment did not differ from 30% shading, producing good quality seedlings. Thus, the cultivation of seedlings in an environment with 0% or 30% shading, associated with the sphagnum peat-based substrate pure or mixed with 50% vermiculite promoted the production of tamarind seedlings with vigorous growth. In the best environments, the best substrates increased, on average, 41.3% number of leaves, 80.5% shoot dry mass, 56.8% root dry mass, and 71.0% total dry mass. In the best substrates, the best environments increased, on average, 18.0% number of leaves, 20.7% shoot dry mass, 8.7% root dry mass, and 14.3% total dry mass.

Abstract: This article aims to analyze the relationship between the production of subjectivity and neoliberal crisis, taking as a reference the contributions of Gilles Deleuze and Félix Guattari, Maurizio Lazzarato, Antônio Negri and Michael Hardt on the topic. To this end, we present some of the main concepts related to the way Deleuze and Guattari understood subjectivity and its production in relation to the current capitalist paradigm. Resumo Introdução: O câncer cervical está associado com a infecção persistente pelo HPV (human papiloma virus) de alto risco e causa cerca de 265 mil mortes todos os anos no mundo, tornando-se um importante problema de saúde pública. Objetivo: Descrever o perfil epidemiológico, história clínica e achados citológicos de 55 mulheres infectadas com HPV vivendo em áreas remotas no Amazonas, Brasil. Método: Obtiveram-se as amostras por autocoleta, utilizando-se a escova Rovers® Evalyn® para detecção do HPV por meio da técnica de PCR (polymerase chain reaction). Realizou-se o exame citológico por citologia em meio líquido. Resultados: A média de idade das participantes foi de 35 anos de idade (DP=14). A maioria das mulheres apresentou baixa ou nenhuma escolaridade (52,7%), vivia em uma relação estável com um parceiro (74,5) e tinha de três a cinco filhos (32,5%). Observou-se o uso inconsistente de preservativo pela maioria das participantes (“nunca 34,5% e “às vezes” 41,8%). O exame citopatológico mostrou que 14 mulheres (25,4%) tinham alterações citológicas: 7 Ascus (50,0%), 5 L-SIL (35,7%) e 2 H-SIL (14,3%). Abstract Background: Cervical cancer (CC) is associated with persistent high-risk human papillomavirus (HPV) infection and it causes about 265,000 deaths per year worldwide, thus becoming an important public health problem. Objective: This study aimed to describe the epidemiological profile, clinical history, and cytological findings of 55 women infected with HPV living in remote areas in Amazonas, Brazil. Method: The samples were obtained by self-collection using the Rovers® Evalyn® Brush for HPV detection through PCR. The cytological examination was performed by liquid-based cytology. Results: The mean age of participants was 35 years (SD=14). Most of the women presented low or no schooling (52.7%), lived in stable relationship with a partner (74.5%), and had three to five children (32.7%). Inconsistent use of condoms by most of the participants (“never” — 34.5% and “sometimes” — 41.8%) was observed. Cytopathological examinations showed that 14 (25.4%) women had cytological alterations: 7 atypical squamous cells of undetermined significance (50.0%), 5 low-grade squamous intraepithelial lesions (35.7%), and 2 high-grade squamous intraepithelial lesions (14.3%). ABSTRACT Background: Blood transfusion is an effective therapeutic practice. However, even adopting all procedures for transfusion safety, there are risks, one of which is immediate adverse reactions. The aim of this study was, by active search, to evaluate the occurrence of immediate adverse reactions estimating the occurrence rate within the first 24 h. Methods: An exploratory, descriptive, prospective study with quantitative analysis was carried out of patients undergoing surgery who received blood component transfusions during hospitalization from October 2018 to August 2019. Data on blood component request forms were collected from the transfusion agency by reviewing medical records and interviewing the patient or family members. Descriptive statistics and the chi-square test were used to analyze the association of demographic variables with the presence or absence of transfusion reactions. Results: A total of 1042 blood component units were transfused in 393 transfusions performed on 184 patients. The main transfused blood component was packed red blood cells. Seventeen reactions were identified in the medical records, using the active search method, none of which had been reported. The transfusion reaction rate was 16.3 occurrences per 1000 transfused units, while the notification rate for the 9389 blood component units transfused by the transfusion agency in the study period was 3.83/1000. There was no statistically significant association between the occurrences or not of transfusion reactions and demographic variables. Conclusion: Through the active search method, it was possible to observe the underreporting of adverse reactions, showing inadequate compliance with current legislation, which is essential to minimize errors and increase transfusion safety. RESUMO Objetivos: conhecer as narrativas de trabalhadoras sexuais acerca da violência sofrida por parceiros íntimos e as suas estratégias de enfrentamento. Métodos: pesquisa qualitativa, centrada na história oral temática, realizada com seis trabalhadoras sexuais no sul do Brasil, que responderam a entrevistas em profundidade através de um roteiro flexível. Foi utilizada a análise de conteúdo temática. Resultados: participaram do estudo mulheres cisgênero que se autodeclararam metade negras e metade brancas. A maioria tinha filhos e estava separada. Relataram relações abusivas por parte de seus parceiros íntimos, destacando-se a violência verbal, psicológica, patrimonial, física e tentativa de feminicídio. Tais violências resultaram em estratégias de enfrentamento, como evitar vínculos afetivos e manter uma vida discreta. ABSTRACT Objectives: to understand the narratives of sex workers about violence suffered by intimate partners and their coping strategies. Methods: qualitative research, focused on thematic oral history, carried out with six sex workers in southern Brazil, who responded to in-depth interviews using a flexible script. Thematic content analysis was used. Results: the study included cisgender women who self-identified as half black and half white. Most had children and were separated. They reported abusive relationships by their intimate partners, with emphasis on verbal, psychological, financial, and physical violence and attempted femicide. Such violence resulted in coping strategies, such as avoiding emotional bonds and maintaining a discreet life. Final Considerations: intimate partner violence is prevalent among participants, leading them to adopt strategies to preserve their safety and well-being, highlighting the need for public policies that meet their particularities and guarantee protection. Dicha violencia resultó en estrategias de afrontamiento, como evitar vínculos emocionales y mantener una vida discreta. Abstract Objective: To analyze the first referral service for rare diseases accredited by the Brazilian Ministry of Health, focusing on referral from the primary healthcare network through to diagnosis. Methods: This is a descriptive study with patients treated between 2016 and 2021 at a referral hospital service located in Curitiba, Paraná, Brazil. Clinical and epidemiological data were obtained from medical records, as were the results of genetic tests at the hospital’s clinical analysis laboratory. Qualitative data were expressed as absolute and relative frequencies, while quantitative data were expressed as medians and interquartile ranges and compared using the Kruskal-Wallis test. Results: The study included 1,751 cases, 34.1% were diagnosed with rare diseases, with average time until diagnosis being 3.0 years, whereby mucopolysaccharidosis type II (4.0%) and tuberous sclerosis (3.9%) were the most common. Greater length of time for obtaining diagnosis (p-value 0.004) and receiving specialized care (p-value<0.001) was found in patients from the interior region of Paraná state, compared to those residing in Curitiba city and its metropolitan region. Conclusion: Diagnosis of rare diseases occurred in approximately one third of cases. The average time until diagnosis suggests a possible positive impact of implementing the referral service. The longer time until diagnosis and specialized care found among patients from the interior region of Paraná represent challenges regarding adequate referral to specialized services.

Resumo Objetivo: Analisar o primeiro serviço de referência em doenças raras credenciado pelo Ministério da Saúde, com foco no encaminhamento desde a rede primária até o diagnóstico. Métodos: Trata-se de um estudo descritivo com pacientes atendimentos entre 2016 e 2021 em serviço hospitalar de referência localizado de Curitiba. Dados clínicos e epidemiológicos foram obtidos de registros médicos e os resultados de exames genéticos do laboratório de análises clínicas do hospital. Dados qualitativos foram expressos como frequência absoluta e relativa, e os quantitativos por mediana e intervalo interquartil e comparados pelo teste Kruskal-Wallis. Resultados: Foram incluídos 1.751 pacientes, 34,1% obtiveram diagnóstico de doenças raras, com tempo médio de 3,0 anos, sendo a mucopolissacaridose tipo II (4,0%) e esclerose tuberal (3,9%) as mais frequentes. Maior tempo até obter diagnóstico (p-valor 0,004) e atendimento especializado (p-valor<0,001) foram observados em pacientes do interior do Paraná, em comparação com aqueles que residem em Curitiba e região metropolitana. Conclusão: O diagnóstico de doenças raras ocorreu em cerca de um terço dos casos. O tempo médio até o diagnóstico sugere possível impacto positivo da implementação do serviço de referência. Maior tempo até o diagnóstico e atendimento especializado observado em pacientes do interior do Paraná representam desafios no encaminhamento adequado para unidades especializadas.

Resumen Objetivo: Analizar el primer servicio de referencia de enfermedades raras acreditado por el Ministerio de Salud, centrándose en la derivación desde la red primaria al diagnóstico. Métodos: Se trata de un estudio descriptivo con pacientes atendidos entre 2016 y 2021 en un servicio hospitalario de referencia ubicado en Curitiba, Paraná, Brasil. Los datos clínicos y epidemiológicos se obtuvieron de los registros médicos y de los resultados de las pruebas genéticas del laboratorio de análisis clínicos del hospital. Los datos cualitativos se expresaron como frecuencias absolutas y relativas, y los datos cuantitativos como mediana y rango intercuartílico y se compararon mediante la prueba de Kruskal-Wallis. Resultados: Se incluyeron 1.751 pacientes, el 34,1% fueron diagnosticados con enfermedades raras, con un tiempo promedio de 3,0 años, siendo las más frecuentes la mucopolisacaridosis tipo II (4,0%) y la esclerosis tuberosa (3,9%). Se observó mayor tiempo para obtener el diagnóstico (valor de p-valor 0,004) y atención especializada (valor de p-valor<0,001) en los pacientes del interior de Paraná, en comparación con los residentes en Curitiba y la región metropolitana. Conclusión: El diagnóstico de enfermedades raras se produjo en aproximadamente un tercio de los casos. El tiempo medio hasta el diagnóstico sugiere un posible impacto positivo de la implementación del servicio de referencia. El mayor tiempo hasta el diagnóstico y la atención especializada observados en pacientes del interior de Paraná representan desafíos en la adecuada derivación a unidades especializadas.

Abstract Sedentary behavior, intestinal constipation, and eating habits were examined concerning sociodemographic factors. A cross-sectional and analytical study was conducted with adolescents from municipal public schools in Montes Claros-MG, Brazil, through questionnaires investigating sociodemographic factors, pediatric gastrointestinal symptoms (Questionnaire Roma III), and eating habits (VIGITEL). Data were treated in the Statistical Package for Social Science program (version 22.0) through descriptive analysis of variables and the chi-square test. Of the 880 participants, the majority were female (51.93%) and aged between 13 and 19 (60.11%). A percentage of 16.7% exceeded 5 hours of sedentary behavior per day, and 15% were constipated. When comparing Sedentary Behavior with the sociodemographic profile, adolescent boys were more sedentary (p = .02), as were older adolescents (p = .01). In conclusion, there was a low prevalence of Sedentary Behavior, and the associations referred to sociodemographic factors. However, considering the studied population and the damage caused by sedentary behavior to the health of adolescents, these results are important to help in tracking this disorder.

Resumo Esse estudo teve por objetivo estimar a prevalência do Comportamento Sedentário e sua associação com fatores sociodemográficos, Constipação Intestinal e hábitos alimentares. Para tal, foi realizado um estudo transversal e analítico, desenvolvido com adolescentes do 6° ao 9° anos das escolas públicas municipais da cidade de Montes Claros-MG, Brasil. Foram utilizados questionários que abordavam fatores sociodemográficos, sintomas gastrointestinais pediátricos (Questionário Roma III) e hábitos alimentares (VIGITEL). Os dados foram tratados no programa Statistical Package for the Social Science versão 22.0 por meio de análise descritiva das variáveis e do teste qui-quadrado. Participaram 880 adolescentes. 16.7% ultrapassavam 5 horas diárias com adoção do Comportamento Sedentário, sendo a maior prevalência encontrada no sexo feminino (51.93%), e faixa etária de 13 a 19 anos (60.11%). 15% dos entrevistados eram constipados. Ao comparar o Comportamento Sedentário com o perfil sociodemográfico, percebe-se que os meninos adolescentes eram mais sedentários (p = .02) e aos adolescentes com maior idade (p = .01). Concluindo, verificou-se baixa prevalência de Comportamento Sedentário, e as associações referiram a fatores sociodemográficos. No entanto, considerando a população estudada e os prejuízos advindos do Comportamento Sedentário para a saúde dos adolescentes, esses resultados são importantes para auxiliar no rastreamento desse distúrbio.

Abstract This study aimed to verify the association between voice handicaps, physical inactivity, and job dissatisfaction among public school teachers in Minas Gerais, Brazil. An epidemiological, cross-sectional web survey study was performed to do this. The data compilation relevant to this survey was amassed between October 26 and December 31, 2021. A total of 1782 teachers participated in this study. The outcome variable used was the Voice Handicap Index 10 (VHI-10), which makes it possible to quantify the individual’s perception of vocal alteration. The higher the result, the greater the voice handicap perceived by the subject. In addition to sociodemographic and occupational aspects, physical activity was evaluated by the International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ) in its short form. The level of job satisfaction was expressed through the simple validated question: “Are you satisfied with your job?”. The multivariate statistical analysis was Poisson regression with robust variance. Voice handicap was present in 20.2% of the teachers and was associated with being female (PR = 1.32; CI95%: 1.03-1.70), teaching time (PR = 1.26; CI95%: 1.26-1.04), job dissatisfaction (PR = 1.96; CI95%: 1.59-2.42) and physical inactivity (PR = 1.24; CI95%: 1.00-1.52). The study was carried out at the beginning of the teachers’ return to in-school classes and found that a fifth reported a perception of voice handicap, pointing to the need for greater attention to the work environment and the importance of physical activity for voice health.

Resumo O objetivo deste estudo foi verificar a associação entre desvantagem vocal e variáveis inatividade física e insatisfação no trabalho entre professores da rede pública de Minas Gerais, Brasil. Trata-se de estudo epidemiológico, transversal do tipo websurvey. Participaram do estudo 1782 professores. A coleta de dados ocorreu entre 26 de outubro e 31 de dezembro de 2021. A variável desfecho foi o Índice de Desvantagem Vocal 10 (IDV-10) que possibilita quantificar a percepção do indivíduo sobre sua alteração vocal. Quanto maior o resultado, maior a desvantagem vocal percebida pelo sujeito. Além dos aspectos sociodemográficos e ocupacionais, foi avaliada a atividade física pelo Questionário Internacional de Atividade Física (IPAQ), em sua forma curta e a satisfação no trabalho por meio da pergunta já validada: “Você está satisfeito com o seu trabalho?”. A análise estatística multivariada foi a regressão de Poisson com variância robusta. A desvantagem vocal esteve presente em 20.2% dos professores e apresentou associação com o sexo feminino (RP = 1.32; IC95%: 1.03-1.70) o tempo de docência (RP = 1.26; IC95%: 1.26-1.04), a insatisfação no trabalho (RP = 1.96; IC95%: 1.59-2.42) e a inatividade física (RP = 1.24; IC95%: 1.00-1.52). No estudo realizado no início do retorno dos professores às aulas presenciais verificou que um quinto referiu percepção de desvantagem vocal apontando para a necessidade de maior atenção ao ambiente de trabalho e sobre a importância da atividade física para a saúde da voz.

Resumo O avanço da utilização das Inteligências Artificiais (IAs) no campo científico, a exemplo de Connected Papers e ChatGPT, tem nos possibilitado refletir sobre como ferramentas tecnológicas se tornaram mediadores e participantes no contexto da educação e da academia. No campo das teorias organizacionais, a despeito das diferentes perspectivas de compreensão da incorporação das IAs na prática acadêmica, destacamos dois desafios em nosso cotidiano acadêmico. O primeiro desafio refere-se ao enfrentamento do colonialismo digital que as IAs nos impõem, considerando que elas se constituem por meio da reprodução de modelos de linguagem programados em países do “Norte global”. O segundo desafio diz respeito aos seus desdobramentos no processo de automatização da escrita acadêmica em administração. Abstract The advancement of the use of Artificial intelligence in the scientific field, such as Connectedpapers and ChatGPT, has allowed us to reflect on how technological tools have become mediators and participants in the context of education and academia. In the field of organizational theories, despite the different perspectives on understanding the incorporation of AIs in academic practice, we highlight two challenges in our daily academic life. RESUMO O emprego da ecocardiografia por médicos não ecocardiografistas tem se tornado comum em todo o mundo nos mais diversos ambientes em que se dá o cuidado do paciente agudamente doente. A avaliação ecocardiográfica realizada de forma point-of-care pode fornecer informações pertinentes em relação ao mecanismo das causas de choque, por exemplo, incrementando as taxas de diagnóstico correto e possibilitando a tomada de decisão fundamentada de forma mais rápida do que por meio dos métodos tradicionais de avaliação. Considerando que o diagnóstico preciso de situações ameaçadoras à vida é indispensável a profissionais atuando junto a pacientes agudamente enfermos, diversas entidades associativas internacionais recomendam que médicos responsáveis por pacientes gravemente doentes devam adquirir e desenvolver a habilidade para realizar exames ultrassonográficos à beira do leito, inclusive ecocardiográficos. ABSTRACT The use of echocardiography by physicians who are not echocardiographers has become common throughout the world across highly diverse settings where the care of acutely ill patients is provided. Echocardiographic evaluation performed in a point-of-care manner can provide relevant information regarding the mechanism of causes of shock, for example, increasing the rates of correct diagnosis and allowing for faster informed decision-making than through evaluation methods. Resumo Este estudo investigou os efeitos induzidos por condições transitórias de operação em uma usina hidrelétrica brasileira em Pimelodus maculatus. Peixes (n = 43) no canal de fuga que apareceram na superfície da água após mudanças nas condições operacionais foram avaliados. Adicionalmente, peixes (n = 10) capturados a jusante da barragem com espinhel foram utilizados para comparações (NF). Amostras de sangue foram avaliadas para as concentrações de cortisol, glicose e lactato. Amostras de tecidos (brânquia, fígado, cérebro e músculo) foram analisadas para biomarcadores de estresse oxidativo (TBARS, conteúdo de proteína carbonil e atividade da catalase) e histologia (brânquia, fígado e baço). Os achados mais proeminentes dos peixes afetados (IF) foram barotraumas com hemorragia intra-abdominal e ruptura da bexiga natatória. Abstract This study investigated injuries sustained by Pimelodus maculatus caused by transient operating conditions in a Brazilian hydroelectric power plant. Fish (n = 43) that inhabited the tailrace and appeared on the water surface after changes in the operating conditions were evaluated (IF). Additionally, fish (n = 10) captured using longline in the vicinity of the tailrace were used for comparisons (NF). Blood samples were evaluated for cortisol, glucose, and lactate concentrations. Tissue samples (gill, liver, brain, and muscle) were analyzed for oxidative stress biomarkers (TBARS, protein carbonyl content, and catalase activity) and histology (gill, liver, and spleen). The most prominent findings in IF were barotraumas with intra-abdominal hemorrhage and swim bladder rupture. Cortisol and glucose concentrations were lower for IF when compared to NF. IF also suffered from oxidative stress, as indicated by increased TBARS in the liver and brain, as well as increased protein carbonyl content in the gills and liver. RESUMO A aplicação de herbicidas dessecantes na cultura do crambe é importante para produção de sementes de qualidade. Objetivou-se avaliar o efeito de herbicidas dessecantes e diferentes volumes de calda aplicadas em plantas de crambe, cultivar FMS Brilhante, na fase de pré-colheita sobre a produtividade e qualidade de sementes. O delineamento experimental foi em blocos casualizados em esquema fatorial 2 x 5, sendo dois herbicidas dessecantes (Glyphosate – Roundup Original 360 g L-1 e Diquat – Reglone 200 g L-1) e cinco volumes de calda (0,0; 0,5; 1,0; 1,5; e 2,0 L ha-1), com quatro repetições. A aplicação dos dessecantes ocorreu aos 74 dias após a semeadura, baseada no estádio de maturação das sementes, verificado a partir da observação visual da porcentagem de sementes marrons (80%). Após a colheita, as sementes foram beneficiadas e avaliadas quanto ao teor de água, peso de mil sementes, produtividade, teor de óleo, germinação e vigor (primeira contagem de germinação, índice de velocidade de emergência, envelhecimento acelerado e condutividade elétrica). ABSTRACT The application of burndown herbicides to crambe crops is important for production of quality seeds. The objective of this work was to evaluate the effect of burndown herbicides applied at pre-harvest, using different spray volumes, on seed yield and quality of crambe plants (Crambe abyssinica cv. FMS Brilhante). A randomized block experimental design was used, with four replications, in a 2 × 5 factorial arrangement consisted of two burndown herbicides [glyphosate (Roundup Original 360 g L-1) and diquat (Reglone 200 g L-1)] and five spray volumes (0.0, 0.5, 1.0, 1.5, and 2.0 L ha-1). The burndown herbicides were applied at 74 days after sowing, when the plants presented 80% brown seeds, based on visual evaluation of the seed maturation stage. ABSTRACT Purpose: Acute mesenteric ischemia (AMI) is a condition in pediatric surgery that ranges from intestine necrosis to death. Ischemic postconditioning (IPoC) methods were developed to reduce the damage caused by revascularization. This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy of these methods in an experimental weaning rat model. Methods: Thirty-two 21-day-old Wistar rats were allocated into four groups according to the surgical procedure performed: control, ischemia-reperfusion injury (IRI), local (LIPoC) and remote IPoC (RIPoC). At euthanasia, fragments of the intestine, liver, lungs, and kidneys were submitted to histological, histomorphometric, and molecular analyses. Results: In the duodenum, intestines, and kidneys histological alterations promoted by IRI were reversed by remote postconditioning method. In the distal ileum, the histomorphometric alterations could be reversed by the postconditioning methods with more evident effects promoted by the remote method. The molecular analysis found that the levels of expression of Bax (proapoptotic) and Bcl-XL (antiapoptotic) genes in the intestine were increased by IRI. In this work, iron chloride (FeCl3.6H2O), a single reagent, was used to create the phases of hematite (α-Fe2O3) and akaganeite (β-FeOOH) without the need of organic solvents using the microwave-assisted hydrothermal technique (HM).
