RESUMO: Em geral, alelopatia pode ser definido como o processo biológico no qual um organismo produz metabolitos que alteram a germinação, o crescimento, a sobrevivência e a reprodução de outros organismos, influenciando a estabilidade de agroecossistemas. O colesterol, o mais abundante esterol isolado da alga vermelha marinha Plocamium brasiliense, foi estudado quanto ao seu potencial efeito inibitório na germinação de sementes, alongamento das radículas e desenvolvimento do hipocótilo das ervas daninhas Mimosa pudica (malicia) e Senna obtusifolia (mata-pasto). Colesterol foi isolado do extrato em Hexano por métodos cromatográficos. Durante 15 dias, os bioensaios de germinação foram realizados a 25 ºC e fotoperíodo de 12 horas, enquanto os bioensaio de alongamento da radícula e do hipocótilo foram realizados a 25 ºC e fotoperíodo de 24 horas. Posteriormente, placas de Petri de 9,0 cm de diâmetro foram revestidas de papelfiltro, e 25 sementes foram mantidas em câmaras de germinação, enquanto seis sementes pré-germinadas foram postas em placas de Petri por 2-3 dias. Após dez dias, a extensão da radícula e do hipocótilo foi medida. O potencial inibitório do colesterol foi avaliado a 5, 10, 15 e 20 ppm. Em ambas as ervas M. pudica e S. obtusifolia, foram afetadas significativamente pela ação do cholesterol alcançando maiores percentuais de inibição na germinação das sementes (50% e 33%, respectivamente), alongamento da radícula (68% e 60%, respectivamente) e desenvolvimento do hipocótilo (66% e 55%, respectivamente). Os efeitos inibitórios foram dose-dependentes em todos os experimentos, tendo efeitos alelopaticos mais acentuados a 20 ppm. ABSTRACT: In general, allelopathy can be defined as a biological process by which an organism produces one or more metabolites that can change the germination, growth, survival, and reproduction of other organisms, and thus influencing the stability of agroecosystems. Cholesterol is a very abundant sterol isolated from the marine red alga Plocamium brasiliense that has been studied regarding its potential inhibitory effects on seed germination, radicle elongation, and hypocotyl development of the weeds Mimosa pudica (malicia) and Senna obtusifolia (mata-pasto). Cholesterol was isolated from a hexane extract by chromatographic methods. Over a 15-day period, germination bioassays were performed at 25 ºC with a 12-h photoperiod. Radicle elongation and hypocotyl development were assayed at 25 ºC with a 24-h photoperiod. Later, Petri dishes 9.0 cm in diameter were coated with filter paper, and 25 seeds were placed in a germination chamber. Six pre-germinated seeds were placed in the Petri dish for 2-3 days. After 10 days, radicle and hypocotyl extensions were measured, and the inhibitory potential of cholesterol was assessed at 5, 10, 15, and 20 ppm. In both herbs, M. pudica and S. obtusifolia, they were significantly affected by the action of cholesterol, achieving higher percentages of inhibition in seed germination (50% and 33%, respectively), radical germination (68% and 60%, respectively), and hypocotyl development (66% and 55%, respectively). The inhibition effects were dose-dependent in all experiments, having more pronounced allelopathic effects at 20ppm. ABSTRACT Due to the importance of grain production, and the need to work the soil under limited moisture, the aim of this study was to develop computer software to predict the tractive capacity of wheeled tractors for two types of tyre, the effect of different inflation pressures and levels of soil moisture. A mathematical model was developed to predict the tractive capacity of a 4 x 2 AFT tractor. Software was developed and tested by comparing the computational data with those from tests of a working tractor in the field. The parameters under evaluation were drawbar force and front and rear drive wheel slip. At both moisture levels, the bias tyres had the lowest front to rear slip ratio at the lower pressure; the ratios were similar when equipped with radial tyres. The bias tyres show maximum force at a slip ratio of 1.09 at the higher pressure and 1.03 at the lower, while for the radial tyres the ratio was 1.05 at the higher pressure and 1.07 at the lower. Software was developed to process data from the model, with the results used for estimating the tractive force of the tractor. ABSTRACT The correct use of tyres on agricultural tractors, in respect of the terrain and the type and internal pressure of the tyre, are factors that influence the performance of the tractor. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the operating performance of an agricultural tractor fitted with two types of traction device (radial and diagonal tyres) at different pressures, and operating on soil with two levels of moisture. The experiment was conducted on a dystrophic Red Yellow Argisol, with tests to evaluate the performance of the tyres under specific working conditions. Tractive power and tractive force, wheel slip and fuel consumption were evaluated. For each of the conditions under evaluation, the radial configuration showed better performance than the diagonal configuration, the effect being more significant at the lower pressure and under low soil moisture. Resumo O objetivo do texto é abordar alguns aspectos do processo avaliativo da pós-graduação no Brasil, como capitaneado pela Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior (Capes) no período de início da implantação da avaliação multidimensional. O texto apresenta um histórico da avaliação do sistema nacional de pós-graduação (SNPG) e seu lugar na Capes. A seguir, aponta as principais alterações incrementais propostas para a avaliação e o que foi implementado na avaliação quadrienal 2017-2020, concluindo por propor um maior envolvimento e controle social dos integrantes da área sobre o processo, altamente centralizado na Capes e no Conselho Nacional de Educação (CNE). Abstract The aim of this text is to discuss some aspects of the evaluation process of postgraduate studies in Brazil, as led by the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (Capes) during the period when multidimensional evaluation was first implemented. The text presents a history of the evaluation of the national postgraduate system (SNPG) and its place in Capes. It then points out the main incremental changes proposed for the evaluation and what was implemented in the 2017-2020 quadrennial evaluation, concluding by proposing greater involvement and social control of the members of the area over the process, which is highly centralized in Capes and the National Education Council (CNE). The data compiled is the result of ethnographic and historical research on Capes databases and the participant objectification of my experience as coordinator of the Anthropology and Archaeology area between 2018 and 2022. Abstract New biodegradable packaging has been developed from renewable sources, mainly of vegetable origin. Arrowroot starch has been recently used to produce high-quality biodegradable films capable of behaving well when incorporating oils, extracts, metal, and metal nanocomposites. The study aimed to verify the impact of incorporating metals in the sulfate and chloride forms in a biopolymeric matrix from arrowroot starch in terms of biodegradability, physicochemical and microbiological parameters. Different arrowroot films were produced to incorporate solutions with a concentration of 1 Mol L−1 of sulfate and chloride metals. The action of biodegradability in soil, UV transmittance, and visible light were observed in UV-Vis spectrophotometry and antimicrobial action on Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, Salmonella serovar Typhimurium, and Salmonella serovar Enteritidis. Good results were obtained, such as biodegradability time between 81.70 to 100 % (30 days), a low transmission rate of UV radiation and visible light between 250 to 890 nm, high capacity for bacterial inhibition between 22.08 to 10.05 mm for E. coli, among 25.59 to 11.10 mm for S. aureus, between 22.14 to 11.66 mm for S. serovar Typhimurium and between 21.11 to 8.26 mm for S. serovar Enteritidis. It is concluded that the biodegradable films of arrowroot starch incorporated with metals showed potential in all the evaluated tests, thus characterizing possible new products for different uses, such as low time available in the environment, preservation of the characteristics of special products, and antimicrobial capacity.

Resumen Se han desarrollado nuevos embalajes biodegradables de fuentes renovables principalmente de origen vegetal. El almidón de arrurruz se ha usado en la producción de películas biodegradables de alta calidad, capaces de tener un buen comportamiento al incorporar aceites, extractos, metales y nanocompuestos metálicos. El estudio tiene como objetivo verificar el impacto de la incorporación de metales en las formas de sulfato y cloruro en una matriz biopolimérica de almidón de arrurruz en términos de biodegradabilidad, parámetros fisicoquímicos y microbiológicos. Se produjeron diferentes películas de arrurruz con soluciones a una concentración de 1 Mol L−1 de metales sulfato y cloruro. La acción de biodegradabilidad en el suelo, transmitancia UV y luz visible se observó en espectrofotometría UV-Vis, y acción antimicrobiana sobre Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, Salmonella serovar Typhimurium y Salmonella serovar Enteritidis. Se obtuvieron buenos resultados, como tiempo de biodegradabilidad entre 81,70 a 100 % (30 días), baja tasa de transmisión de radiación UV y luz visible entre 250 a 890 nm, alta capacidad de inhibición bacteriana entre 22,08 a 10,05 mm para E. coli, entre 25,59 a 11,10 mm para S. aureus, entre 22,14 a 11,66 mm para S. serovar Typhimurium y entre 21,11 a 8,26 mm para S. serovar Enteritidis. Se concluye que las películas biodegradables de almidón de arrurruz incorporadas con metales mostraron potencial en todas las pruebas evaluadas, caracterizando así posibles nuevos productos para diferentes usos, tales como bajo tiempo disponible en el ambiente, preservación de las características de productos especiales y capacidad antimicrobiana.

ABSTRACT: The research was conducted to test the hypothesis that the inclusion of coffee husk (Coffea sp.) would improve the fermentative characteristics and quality of pearl millet silage (Pennisetumglaucum). Thus, the objective was to assess the effect of the inclusion of different levels of coffee husk in pearl millet silage on the chemical composition, fermentative characteristics and degradability in situ of silage. The experimental design used was completely randomized and the treatments consisted of the silage of the whole pearl millet plant with the inclusion of increasing levels of coffee husk: 0%, 7%, 14% and 21%, based on natural matter. After 60 days of fermentation, the silages were evaluated for chemical characteristics, fermentative, degradability in situ dry matter (DM) and neutral detergent fiber (NDF). The inclusion of coffee husk did not alter (P > 0.05) the contents of crude protein (11.94%), NDF (44.89%) and total digestible nutrients (65.09%). There were increases in the concentrations of DM and fiber in acid detergent, accompanied by a reduction in the concentrations of mineral matter and ether extract, as the proportion of coffee husks in silages increased. There was an increase in the lignin content up to the level of 7.59% inclusion of the coffee husk. There was no effect of the inclusion of the coffee husk on the pH of the silage (3.60). However, the inclusion of coffee husk resulted in a reduction in temperature, gas losses, and degradability in situ of silage DM and NDF. It is recommended to include coffee husk up to the level of 14.0% of the natural matter to improve the fermentation pattern and the quality of the pearl millet silage.

RESUMO: A pesquisa foi conduzida para testar a hipótese de que a inclusão de casca de café (Coffea sp.) melhoraria as características fermentativas e a qualidade da silagem de milheto (Pennisetum glaucum). Assim, objetivou-se avaliar o efeito da inclusão de diferentes níveis da casca de café na ensilagem de milheto sobre a composição química, características fermentativas e degradabilidade in situ da silagem. O delineamento experimental utilizado foi inteiramente casualizado e os tratamentos constituíram-se pela silagem da planta inteira de milheto com a inclusão de níveis crescentes de casca de café: 0%, 7%, 14% e 21%, com base na matéria natural. Após 60 dias de fermentação, as silagens foram avaliadas quanto às características químicas, fermentativas, degradabilidade in situ da matéria seca (MS) e da fibra em detergente neutro (FDN). A inclusão da casca de café não alterou (P > 0,05) os teores de proteína bruta (11,94%), FDN (44,89%) e nutrientes digestíveis totais (65,09%). Houve aumentos nas concentrações de MS e fibra em detergente ácido, acompanhados de uma redução nas concentrações de matéria mineral e extrato etéreo, à medida que se aumentou a participação da casca de café nas silagens. Houve um aumento no teor de lignina até o nível de 7,59% de inclusão da casca de café. Não houve efeito da inclusão da casca de café sobre o pH da silagem (3,60). Entretanto, a inclusão de casca de café acarretou na redução da temperatura, perdas por gases, degradabilidade in situ da MS e FDN da silagem. Recomenda-se a inclusão de casca de café até o nível de 14,0% da matéria natural para melhoria do padrão de fermentação e da qualidade da silagem de milheto.

ABSTRACT: In Brazil, urea is the most used nitrogen (N) fertilizer to improve forage production. However, their excessive use can cause environmental impacts through N losses, such as ammonia (NH3) volatilization. Therefore, the current study adjusted and estimated the NH3 volatilization from urea applied on tropical pastures in three rainfall conditions using mathematical models. Data were collected from Marandu grass (Brachiaria brizantha) fertilized with 50 kg N ha-1 during wet, intermediate, and dry conditions. Ammonia volatilization was measured in five semi-open chambers for 21 days. The linear, quadratic, exponential, Gompertz, Groot, and Richards models were tested for fitting and estimating the NH3 volatilization. The Gompertz, Groot, and Richards models generated predictions similar to the observed data, with a high determination coefficient, indicating a better fit of these equations to data, with precision and accuracy. However, the Groot model was selected due to the lowest root mean square error of prediction (0.29 % total N lost as NH3). The greatest N loss as NH3 volatilization occurred in the wet, followed by intermediate and dry conditions (20.2, 17.0, and 11.3 % total N lost as NH3, respectively). Therefore, nitrogen losses as NH3 volatilization after application of 50 kg N ha-1, as urea source, are altered according to the weather conditions, reaching 20% of N added in the wet rainfall period. The Groot model is recommended for fitting and estimating the NH3 volatilization from urea applied on Marandu grass pastures in the wet and dry rainfall conditions.

RESUMO: No Brasil, a ureia é o fertilizante nitrogenado mais utilizado para melhorar a produção de forragem. No entanto, seu uso excessivo pode causar impactos ambientais por meio de perdas de nitrogênio (N), como a volatilização da amônia (NH3). Portanto, o objetivo do presente estudo foi ajustar a volatilização de NH3 da ureia aplicada em pastos tropicais em três condições de chuva utilizando modelos matemáticos. Dados foram coletados de pastos de capim-marandu (Brachiaria brizantha) adubado com 50 kg N ha-1 em condições úmidas, intermediárias e secas. A volatilização da NH3 foi medida em cinco câmaras semiabertas durante 21 dias. Os modelos, linear, quadrático, exponencial, Gompertz, Groot e Richards foram testados para ajuste e estimativa da volatilização do NH3. Os modelos de Gompertz, Groot e Richards geraram predições semelhantes aos dados observados, com alto coeficiente de determinação, indicando um melhor ajuste dessas equações aos dados, com acurácia e precisão. No entanto, o modelo Groot foi selecionado devido ao menor erro quadrático médio das predições (0,29% de N total perdido como NH3). A maior volatilização de NH3 ocorreu em condições climáticas úmida, seguido por intermediária e seca (20,2; 17,0 e 11,3% de N total perdido como NH3, respectivamente). Portanto, as perdas de N como volatilização de NH3 após a aplicação de 50 kg N ha-1, como fonte de ureia, são alteradas de acordo com as condições climáticas, atingindo a 20% do N adicionado nas condições úmidas. O modelo Groot é recomendado para ajuste e estimativa da volatilização de NH3 da ureia aplicada em pastos de capim Marandu em condições úmidas e secas.

RESUMO Objetivo: Determinar o uso de tecnologias baseadas em realidade virtual ou realidade aumentada na área da saúde para a população em geral. Material e Método: Revisão integrativa realizada nas bases de dados MEDLINE/PubMed, CINAHL, LILACS, Web of Science e Scopus. Foram incluídos artigos completos, sem recorte temporal, em português, inglês e espanhol que respondessem à questão norteadora. Resultados: Foram incluídos 65 estudos. As principais finalidades do uso de tecnologias baseadas em realidade virtual ou realidade aumentada foram: alívio da dor, da ansiedade e do medo; educacional (simulação e orientação); reabilitação e neurorreabilitação; promoção da saúde mental/ bem-estar psicológico; auxílio em procedimentos e apoio ao planejamento/cirurgia pré-operatória. Conclusão: Destacamos o amplo uso dessas tecnologias na área da saúde e como elas têm se mostrado benéficas em diferentes contextos clínicos, favorecendo a promoção, a prevenção e a reabilitação da saúde da população.

ABSTRACT Objective: To determine the use of technologies based on virtual reality or augmented reality in the area of health for the general population. Material and Method: Integrative review conducted in MEDLINE/ PubMed, CINAHL, LILACS, Web of Science and Scopus databases. Full articles were included, without time frame, in Portuguese, English and Spanish that answered the guiding question. Results: 65 studies were included. The main purposes of the use of virtual reality or augmented reality-based technologies were: pain, anxiety and fear relief; educational (simulation and guidance); rehabilitation and neurorehabilitation; promoting mental health/psychological well-being; assisting in procedures and supporting preoperative planning/surgery. Conclusion: We highlight the wide use of these technologies in the health area and how beneficial they have proven to be in different clinical contexts, favoring the promotion, prevention and rehabilitation of the population's health.

RESUMEN Objetivo: Determinar el uso de tecnologías basadas en realidad virtual o realidad aumentada en el área de la salud para la población general. Material y Método: Revisión integrativa realizada en las bases de datos MEDLINE/PubMed, CINAHL, LILACS, Web of Science y Scopus. Se incluyeron artículos completos, sin marco temporal, en portugués, inglés y español que respondieron a la pregunta orientadora. Resultados: Se incluyeron 65 estudios. Resumo Objetivo: Analisar a prescrição da profilaxia pós-exposição (PEP) ao vírus da imunodeficiência humana (HIV) e o retorno às consultas de acompanhamento. Métodos: Estudo transversal descritivo, sobre dados de pessoas que buscaram a PEP em unidades de pronto atendimento (UPAs) e serviço médico de atenção especializada em Salvador, BA, Brasil, entre janeiro e dezembro/2018. Resultados: Das 1.525 pessoas que buscaram a PEP nas UPAs, 1.273 (83,5%) apresentaram critérios de elegibilidade à profilaxia e 252 (16,5%) não os apresentaram; entre os elegíveis, 1.166 (91,6%) pessoas tiveram prescrição dos antirretrovirais (ARVs), mas 107 (8,4%) não os receberam; do total de pessoas com prescrição de PEP, apenas 226 (19,4%) retornaram à primeira consulta, 115 (9,9%) à segunda consulta e 33 (2,8%) à terceira consulta para conclusão do protocolo. Conclusão: Observou-se proporção importante de usuários elegíveis que não receberam prescrição de PEP nas UPAs e perda significativa nas consultas de retorno ao serviço especializado.

Resumen Objetivo: Analizar la prescripción de Profilaxis Post Exposición (PPE) al Virus de la Inmunodeficiencia Humana (VIH) y la concurrencia a las consultas de control y seguimiento. Método: Estudio de datos descriptivo transversal de personas que solicitaron la PPE en Unidades de Atención de Emergencia (UPA) y servicios médicos especializados en Salvador, BA, Brasil, durante los meses de enero a diciembre de 2018. Resultados: De las 1.525 personas que consultaron por PEP en las unidades hospitalarias de emergencia, 1.273 (83,5%) cumplieron criterios de elegibilidad para profilaxis y 252 (16,5%) no los cumplieron; entre los elegibles, a 1.166 (91,6%) personas se les recetaron antirretrovirales (ARVs), pero 107 (8,4%) no los recibieron. Del total de personas que recibieron prescripción de PPE, solamente 226 (19,4%) regresaron a la primera consulta; 115 (9,9%) a la segunda consulta y 33 (2,8%) a la tercera consulta para completar el protocolo. Conclusión: Hubo una proporción significativa de usuarios elegibles que no recibieron prescripción de PEP en las Unidades de Atención de Emergencia y una pérdida significativa en las consultas de control al servicio especializado.

ABSTRACT Introduction: Coarctation of the aorta (CoA) is a narrowing of the thoracic aorta that often manifests as discrete stenosis but may be tortuous or in long segment. The study aimed to evaluate pre and post-surgical aspects of pediatric patients submitted to CoA surgical correction and to identify possible predisposing factors for aortic recoarctation. Methods: Twenty-five patients were divided into groups according to presence (N=8) or absence (N=17) of recoarctation after surgical correction of CoA and evaluated according to clinical-demographic profile, vascular characteristics via computed angiotomography (CAT), and other pathological conditions. Results: Majority of males (64%), ≥ 15 days old (76%), ≥ 2.5 kg (80%). There was similarity between groups with and without recoarctation regarding sex (male: 87% vs. 53%; P=0.277), age (≥ 15 days: 62.5 vs. 82%; P=0.505), and weight (≥ 2.5 kg: 87.5 vs. 76.5; P=0,492). Altered values of aortic root/Valsalva diameter, proximal transverse arch, and distal isthmus, and normal values for aorta prevailed in preoperative CAT. Normal values for the aortic root/Valsalva sinus diameter were observed with and without recoarctation, the same for both groups regarding ascending and descending aorta in postoperative CAT. No significant difference for altered values of proximal transverse arch and alteration in distal isthmus was observed. Conclusion: No predictive risk for recoarctation was observed. CTA proved to be important in CoA diagnosis and management, since CoA is mainly related with altered diameter of aortic root/sinus of Valsalva and proximal and distal aortic arch/isthmus, however, it failed to show predictive risk for recoarctation. Resumo Fundamento: A adesão à uma alimentação adequada em macronutrientes é fundamental para a prevenção secundária de doenças cardiovasculares. Objetivo: Avaliar a prevalência de adesão às recomendações de consumo de ácidos graxos para prevenção e tratamento de doenças cardiovasculares, e estimar se a presença de determinados fatores de risco cardiovascular estaria associada à adesão. Métodos: Estudo transversal com os dados de linha de base de 2358 participantes do estudo "Brazilian Cardioprotective Nutritional Program Trial". Dados de consumo alimentar, e fatores de risco cardiovascular foram avaliados. Foi considerada, de acordo com a Sociedade Brasileira de Cardiologia, uma ingestão adequada de ácidos graxos poli-insaturados (AGPI) ≥10% do consumo total de energia diária, para ácidos graxos monoinsaturados (AGM), 20% e para ácidos graxos saturados (AGS), <7%. Na análise estatística foi considerando nível de significância de 5%. Resultados: Nenhum participante aderiu a todas as recomendações de forma simultânea e mais da metade (1482 [62,9%]) não aderiu a nenhuma recomendação. A adesão exclusivamente à recomendação de AGS foi a mais prevalente, sendo cumprida por 659 (28%) dos participantes, seguida da adesão exclusivamente à recomendação de AGP (178 [7,6%]) e de AGM (5 [0,2%]). Não houve associação entre o número de comorbidades e a adesão às recomendações nutricionais (p =0,269). Os participantes da região Nordeste do país apresentaram maior proporção de adesão às recomendações para consumo de AGS (38,42%), e menor para ingestão de AGPI (3,52%) (p <0,001) em comparação às demais. Background: Adhering to a diet adequate in macronutrients is crucial for the secondary prevention of cardiovascular diseases. Objective: To assess the prevalence of adherence to recommendations for the consumption of dietary fatty acids for the prevention and treatment of cardiovascular diseases and to estimate whether the presence of certain cardiovascular risk factors would be associated with adherence. Methods: Cross-sectional study using baseline data from 2,358 participants included in the "Brazilian Cardioprotective Nutritional Program Trial". Dietary intake and cardiovascular risk factors were assessed. Adequate intake of polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA) was considered as ≥10% of total daily energy intake; for monounsaturated fatty acids (MUFA), 20%; and for saturated fatty acids (SFA), <7% according to the Brazilian Society of Cardiology. A significance level of 5% was considered in the statistical analysis. Results: No participant adhered to all recommendations simultaneously, and more than half (1,482 [62.9%]) did not adhere to any recommendation. Adherence exclusively to the SFA recommendation was the most prevalent, fulfilled by 659 (28%) participants, followed by adherence exclusively to the PUFA (178 [7.6%]) and MUFA (5 [0.2%]) recommendations. There was no association between the number of comorbidities and adherence to nutritional recommendations (p = 0.269). Participants from the Brazilian Northeast region showed a higher proportion of adherence to SFA consumption recommendations (38.42%) and lower adherence to PUFA intake (3.52%) (p <0.001) compared to other regions.
